Psychoportal AU: Wheatley's mind world

The location, called "Wheatley's apple orchard", is divided into two parts — the room and the garden.

The room part is quite small and dark; it looks exactly like Wheatley's real-world apartment. It represents how dull and mundane his life is. There's not much to see, except for the emotional baggage in the corner behind a cobweb — but if you jump from the bed to the closet and then hop up to the branches, you'll end up in an apple garden.

This part is large and sphere-shaped outside; the walls of this sphere are glowing and you can walk on them (it prevents anyone from falling down since Wheatley is afraid of heights). Enormously big branches are growing out of nowhere, always changing shape and placement, and interlaced with buntings you can walk on; all the apples can be picked and are edible. The garden symbolizes an escapist dream since keeping head in the clouds is the only thing that Wheatley is left to do other than work. There's a whole lot of cobweb and figments (which depict truly unimaginable things such as boss that doesn't treat him like garbage), probably more than anywhere else — yet only one memory vault can be found (the second one appears only after Wheatley goes full evil and his mind distorts completely; I'll draw it someday too).

Also, somewhere in the upper part of the garden, there's this cozy little spot, where Wheatley likes to daydream and secretely hate on his colleagues:

(Fun fact: while the second picture has been finished just now, the first one is nine months old atm, and I still have no idea how did I manage to achieve such an elaborate shading. Must've gone full berserk).

The slippers are sort of a little reference both to Oleander's rabbit obsession and that "apple-bagel-unicron" thing. Idk.

I don't think there's any imaginary inhabitants in here, though I might try to come up with nanobot censors or whatever later on, but even that is unlikely. Wheatley's mind is definitely a lonely place, and Chell is the only one who get to visit it other than himself.

hey im just curious but whats the deal with blue sky? I've never read it but a lot of people i know don't like it

lol i wish i knew more ppl who didn’t like it. but here are some very basic reasons why i don’t like it:•kills off characters for no reason aside from developing the main character•VERY wheatley centric, puts other characters at expense for wheatley’s sake•gives wheatley a human body that is literally just stephen merchant without a beard•slanders and misinterprets wheatley’s character so much that now he’s basically just an unfunny angsty mary sue version of stephen merchant. i wish i was kidding.•makes chell talk 2 wheatley. big mistake.•there are very cool side characters that had so much potential. but guess what they were used for? wheatley development•apple bagel unicron is literally the most unfunny joke to come out of this fandom aside from “my tea”•chelley. it’s just chelley. a big giant chelley fic, that, of course, is wheatley-centric.•the layout for eden was so awfully explained that someone made a map of the place and sent it to the author asking if that was accurate. the author sent a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT MAP, saying it was the way she envisioned it, while saying that she understood why someone would interpret it the way that the person did.•this one is a personal thing but i just don’t like the author at all, especially after what happened with tooth fairy back in the day.•also did i mention that the first thing that happened in the story was atlas and p-body getting killed off for no reason at all? because that happened.
