It actually kinda scares me how I'm not the only one who struggles with creating art. I feel like most artists I follow here or elsewhere just kinda struggle. This, or the algorythm just swallows them up for me to think nobody draws anymore. Just once in a while I see a drawing again and it makes me super happy to see that at least someone is faving fun. I try so hard to get creative again and draw my characters and actually start my projects that live 95% just in my head. It's just so damn hard...

Okay, a little ramble. Well, not so much ramble as me talking about my feelings. OMG, I’m really sad right now and… ugh, I hate the fact that Fable’s such a small fandom! Cus right now I just want comfort content for Rose, my older sister figure, but again, Fable fanfiction involving her is practically nonexistent, never mind fanfiction that’s reader insert comfort!

I just want my sister… sucks to get so attached to the one character who dies in the intro to the game.

Does anyone know the name of that one art style that mixes cartoonist things and then throws in pictures of irl things too? And there's usually some sort of vhs effect. I've been trying to find what it's called for forever now. Im obsessed with it and I want to evolve my own style to be more like it. I especially love when it's more creepy/unsettling. It looks like these. I just really wanna know if there's a name for it

when I went to see Oppenheimer there was a guy sitting near me in the theater who tried to chat with me while we were waiting for it to start, and he said in 100% seriousness, "glad I'm in here with other intellectuals instead of seeing the Barbie movie" and scoffed and despite the fact that I genuinely wanted to see Oppenheimer I had never been more tempted to get up and walk out of the theater to the Barbie showing next door

The task I wanted to do:

- task 1: Visualize the fourth dedekind number

What I needed to do in order to do task 1:

- task 1.1: Draw a hypercube and

- task 1.2: then give each of the 16 vertices a name - which is the 16 different "cells" (I dunno which word to use, sorry) of a venn diagram with 4 overlapping sets plus a circle around that 4-venn diagram.

//additional info: For the 3rd dedekind number visualization I already posted I needed to use 20 cubes. Each of the 8 vertices of a cube was related to 3 sets - A, B and C - and the intersections of these sets. (AB, AC, BC, ABC)

You remember this post:

...and now back to the 4th dedekind number, which follows the same principle, - but in 4 dimensions.

- So we need a hypercube - and a 4th set/letter:

Now we have 4 letters - alias 4 sets

- and 11 combinations of these sets:

AB, AC, AD, BC, BD, CD, (6)

ABC, ABD, ACD, BCD, (4)

ABCD (1)

=> 11 different intersections + 4 "pure" sets. (sorry for ignorant wording)

So, we have 15 of these now. What is with the 16th (as the hypercube has 16 vertices)? Yeah, that one is the circle you imagine around the 4-set venn diagram.

So, back to me attempting to do the 4th dedekind-number visualization:

So I started to draw that venn diagram using ellipses, but I slightly altered it, because I wanted to use my isometric grid paper. (The angles of my drawing are different than in the picture depicted above.)

I started to draw the 4 ellipses, and I somehow started to see two intertwined/interlocked tubes due to the additional helplines I used for drawing.

Then I started to use my thicker black pen to make this effect of these two interlocked tubes more visible:

Now I plan to write the sets/letters at the backside of that piece of paper - in mirrored, so I can hold this piece of paper (with the tube drawing in front) against the light - and see the letters of the set names shining through.

i might also add some details to the tubes.

I think Im entering my phase of saving art I love again, just to stare at it for hours, like I did when I was 12 years old, rather than drawing myself. (I did draw stuff back then still, but I wasn’t expecting me creating masterpieces, I just did it to fulfill a need that rn I don’t really have anymore).

I know my unhappiness and my art block and everything is all connected. And I think I might just need to sit back or do something else that inspires me. I don’t want to envy other artists, like I do now. I want to aspire to be like them in a positive way.

Because I still love art. I can feel how much it touches me, how it tucks on my heartstrings. I feel it so very deeply.

Maybe that’s all I need to do right now. Just sitting back and taking everything in. Giving it the attention it deserves.

Basically at like that far away 2013-15 i think i didn't know the thing about [Men in Touhou] i knew most of them were girl but didn't know that there's like only 5 (counting Shingyoku male form) male somewhat relevant males and the first time i saw Wriggle Nightbug i thought she was a boy because

And so i headcanon her as genderfluid and sometimes she gives himself masc titles like, king of insects, emperor of bugs, etc, sometimes even Pale King you know like that guy that doomed his kingdom because a moth haha

i love that there are a couple traits consistent among seemingly all spider-man variants. their wit, they’re dorky-ness, their intelligence. their queerness

but i think my favorite has got to be their artistic creativity. the og peter parker takes photos, miles draws + graffitis, gwen plays the drums, hobie plays guitar, etc.

which only just adds to the un-spider-man-ness of movie!miguel that he, seemingly, doesn’t have any artistic interest or pursuits. his life is so consumed by this need to justify his trauma and make it useful that he doesn’t have anything to healthily express himself and have fun through. he doesn’t have any room left for any personality because he’s too busy being a leader and a weapon.

this also plays into that quick little line from miles in the counselor's office where he mentions not doing much art anymore,,,he's so consumed by this one mission of his (similar to miguel) to figure out how to travel across universes to meet his friends (falsely thinking that will just automatically solve his loneliness) that he's losing that art that makes him happy, purposefully ignoring it because it's not "useful". i think it's also relevant to note that gwen, the character who's defined by her aimlessness, (literally her only goal is survival. like just the bare minimum of "don't be homeless tomorrow", just simple, normal, human self-preservation) opens the movie by going to town on her drum set. on the opposite end of the spectrum miguel and miles are on, she has no goal at all and is fully leaning into her artistic abilities for comfort. ultimately, the difference lies in where these characters are choosing to find comfort. in the pursuit of a singular goal that suppresses emotion in the name of efficiency, or in moment-to-moment explosive self expression that doesn't ultimately make strides towards an end goal?

(honorable mention: hobie and his music. the guitar, ie his art, symbolic of being in touch with your emotions, is something he keeps close with him and uses productively in pursuit of his goals. it's strong, but focused. he's very in control of it. he has figured out how to hit a perfect balance between the two, adding to this big brother/mentor image in relation to gwen and miles.)

#pavitr doesn't have a strong internal conflict just yet #which is why i think he doesn't (explicitly) have an artistic pursuit like the others #the pursuing a goal vs expressing yourself through art thing is just a way for the characters to remedy an emotional problem #i can let it out but not be “productive” or i can “fix it” but not dwell on it much #(this also plays into themes of being focused on the past vs present vs future but that's a whole other analysis) #but pavitr #hes just chilling #he has no such worries #tbh i wouldn't be surprised it he gets some sort of artsy hobby next movie coinciding with some strong internal conflict #i headcanon that he likes sewing and embroidery #it would explain his super detailed and artistic suit #also he just gives of sewist vibes #(coming from a sewing #and also embroiderer) #when az rambles #across the spider verse spoilers #atsv analysis #spiderverse analysis #miles morales #gwen stacy #hobie brown #(kind of) pavitr prabhakar
