Holodomor Museum keeps the memory of innocent Ukrainians killed with the man-made famine (known as Holodomor, the Great Famine of 1932-1933) organized by the soviet government. The number of the dead in the genocide varies from 4,5 to 10 million people, according to different researchers.
My late grandma remembered this horror for all her life. She was 8 that time. Her smaller sisters and brothers, 4 kids in our family, died from hunger in Holodomor. I remember that my grandma kept the packages full of dry bread in the nightstand till her last day.
90 years passed. The terrorist state of russia continues to commit its awful crimes, blackmailing the whole world with famine. Slogans like "Never again" are not working. They never did.
I played "Would you rather" with my daughter, who turned seven last month. Swings or bicycles? Minecraft or Lego? This sort of choices, typical for every second-grader.
I asked her "Would you rather go to the forest or to the sea?"
"Well, the forest is mined, so I'll go to the sea. I like it."
I hate that my daughter has to know such things now.
"why don't we hate israelis as much as we hated russians when they invaded ukraine" - first of all, who is "we". It was (primarily) Eastern Europeans who carried the russophobia on their backs, I'm not letting you appropriate their contribution. And second of all, when were you stabbing russian immigrants abroad for the sin of being russian and vandalising their neighbourhoods with swasticas? Because all I remember is russian men harrassing & beating up ukrainian refugee women and children, and setting their houses on fire, while westerners were observing this with "omg brotherly nation forced into war by politicians. make peace not war #deep"
This night I woke up from explosions. Sound in a way similar to the thunder. Only you know it's not a thunder. It's a war. This morning I saw in the news this photos. Nearly the center of Dnipro city was bombed by russians. As I said, I receive similar news everyday. And yes. People died during this attack. Children died. I don't understand this politic dances around the Aid for Ukraine. I don't understand this "let's not provoke russia". Imagine you're in one room with a maniac who intend to kill you in the most perverted and painful way. You managed to contact your friends. But instead of helping you out or calling the police they typed you back something like: "Maybe you should talk to the maniac? Try to understand their motives?". Will you try to talk? Or fight for your life instead?
"They saw Azovstal and bombed-out high-rise buildings. I think we did the right thing by showing it to our children."
A russian family flaunts the destroyed Mariupol in front of their children. Another generation of murderers, rapists and looters is being raised in russia.
absurd to shame midwestern muslim, or worse, palestinian-americans for withdrawing their electoral support of biden when it's a question of their relatives dying after biden promised military support and hugged netanyahu, and the use of real political power to achieve their desired goals. threatening to withhold votes in swing states and protesting to voice this are some of the most effective things they, or anyone can do in america
so in ukrainian "дворецький" is a male butler while "дворецька" is a female butler. after the reveal of grell being a grim reaper she is actually refered to as "дворецька" (female butler) by herself and by sebastian as well.
it's official, in ukrainian translation grell uses she/her and is referred to as a female!
I used Tumblr as a 'safe haven' from real-life struggles. Even my nickname means that - I was hiding here from the reality in the world of fandoms, beautiful arts, and so on.
And on Wednesday, I attended the funeral of my Tumblr mutual.
There are no safe havens anymore. It was a lovely illusion, but that's it. I want to scream at the top of my lungs: do something. The time of idle watching is long over.
I'm afraid that if things are the same way as now, your homes will burn as ours.
My Zaporizhzhia yesterday. The very center of the city, a favorite place for teenagers, the elderly and families with children from all over the city. It is difficult to see here, but closer to the place of the explosion there is a beautiful park area with a pond and a playground, which is always crowded with people every evening. Fortunately (tho there's nothing fortunate about this horror), the weather was not the best, so there were much fewer people than usual. Still 1 person (an elderly woman) was killed, 16 were injured, including 4 children. The hotel they destroyed functioned as a summer art camp for local children, as well as a place were journalists and UN representatives frequently stayed.
Just listen to the voices and imagine the state of every Ukrainian. I'm devastated. What a monster you have to be to do such a thing?!
Support Ukraine. We need you. Without the support and approval coming from the citizens, no country will help us. You are important.
Trying to guess the start of an imminent russian attack on our energy infrastructure based on the weather forecast and plan accordingly, as if it ever worked
