Very much agree w your takes on post - Azkaban Bellatrix & that the book version is better. I think a lot of what we see in the films is from Harry’s POV & also in an attempt to make the “villains” look crazier. But there’s no way that as a Black she’d keep her teeth or hair looking crazy, especially bc let’s be honest Narcissa / Lucius def care about appearances & they all seem judgy af lol.

What do you think it was like when Bellatrix saw her sister / remaining family for the first time?

She's looking at herself in the mirror when Narcissa walks in. She's a halo of blonde hair, her face isn't quite how Bellatrix remembers, there's something more refined about Narcissa now. She looks like she's grown up. She has grown up. Bellatrix is also studying the way her own face has changed, she hasn't seen herself for fourteen years. Her skin is stretched across her cheekbones and jaw, she looks almost skeletal, her cheeks gaunt, dark grey eyes even darker.

"You look like Druella." she says as Narcissa paces closer. Narcissa arches a brow, "i'm not sure if thats a compliment." "I may have despised the wretch but she was beautiful."

Narcissa says nothing but a hint of a smile comes to her lips. Bellatrix's baritone is as she remembers, low, smooth, slow, sultry. Bellatrix was always seductive in a predatory, feline type of way. She still carries that same seduction with her now Narcissa can't help but notice. Bellatrix meets her gaze as the thought floats freely towards her, but blue eyes quickly downcast from her older sister's gaze.

"I bought you some potions." Narcissa says then, moving to place an array of bottles on the counter, "for your hair - your skin - your weight...merlin knows you were always thin but..." she trails off and Bellatrix turns, leaning against the counter. She watches as Narcissa swallows the lump in her throat. She's silent a moment longer before she insists, "they'll help."

She does little more than nod her assent as she begins to move away.

"Bella." Narcissa says, her voice a whisper.

Bellatrix turns, grey eyes scouring her sister's face. Narcissa steps closer and then she moves in, arms wrapping around her sister. The hug throws Bellatrix off a little, she stills to silence, uncertain of what to do for a moment.

Narcissa's voice trembles as she speaks, "I missed you."

A hand comes to Narcissa's slender waist and the other wraps around her shoulders, the sweet honeysuckle and vanilla scent of her coming to her like an old recurring dream.

Bellatrix feels the pull of magic deep rooted in her blood as familiarity washes over her. She smiles just a little, "I missed you too, dear heart."

“Cissy, your own sister? You wouldn’t —”

“There is nothing I wouldn’t do anymore!” Narcissa breathed, a note of hysteria in her voice, and as she brought down the wand like a knife, there was another flash of light. Bella let go of her sister’s arm as though burned.

Amphierotic Bloodlines was written in 2010, Kuebiko in 2015, and Crimson Regret in 2020. Although there were five years between all of the books, there is a very noticeable difference in the quality of the first book compared to the other two, to the point where I cannot even bring myself to read it during my rereads anymore because I hate it so much, and that is a problem for me, because this stupid incest trilogy is my legacy apparently, lol. That is primarily why this rewrite is happening. As Crimson Regret is still not finished, that fic obviously takes precedence. This was just an idea I toyed with about a month ago, and rewrote the first chapter off and on. So it will be awhile until it's finished, but in the meantime, I've decided to open it up to the community via the Toujours Pur Discord to help with first reading/betaing since it's not a new story, and spoiling anything isn't an issue. So if you guys are interested, please join and check it out ^_^ The first chapter is already posted.

Petting Zoo - Cissatrix

500 words. Rated T. Incest Pairing. June 8th prompt: "Petting Zoo", from @sapphicmicrofics.

When you’ve done what I have, they chain you to the walls.

It’s not for security. They say it is, but the bars and the ocean and the soul stealing horrors take care of that. The chains are heavy and short, and the shackles are cast rough with no rounded edges. They chain you to the walls so you can’t stand straight up, so you can’t lay down, so your joints ache and your bones rot and your skin shreds and you hurt, everywhere, constantly. The chains are there to hurt you.

The closest I can get to freedom is about three feet, from the tips of my fingers to the gaps between the bars. To do this, I lean against the side wall where one chain is anchored and stretch my arm out along the ground, jam the shackle down my wrist until it bites deep, and shove myself forwards, heels scraping raw against the floor. It puts an ache in my shoulder, and my hips. I do my best to stretch my joints before and after, to wrap rags around my feet and pad the shackle on my arm; anything that will make it possible to reach out this way for as long as humanly possible.

I do this because when she comes to me and she lays on the filthy floor of the hall and thrusts her arm between the bars right up to the shoulder, I can reach her fingers with mine. Only the first and second knuckles, not enough to grab hold of each other, but enough to be touching. Enough to feel the faintest beat of our hearts, enough to be alive and together.

Alive is all I am, and only for those few hours. She comes to me a few times a month, judging by the moon. She tells me about her life; a susurrus I absorb in silence. It sounds pleasant enough, and I like to imagine her life is not a hard one. When I try to speak, I thank her for her love and beg wretchedly for her to stay, crazed and pathetic rambling. I cannot sustain the weight of the things I want to tell her, cannot form the words to carry the reality of what she has become for me.

There are no visitation hours at Azkaban. Each time she lays eyes on me is a felony of the highest degree. She won’t tell me what she does to get here, but I assume the Malfoy name is involved, whether Lucius knows or not. The guards mark no concern or concession for her, never deviating from their ceaseless cycle, never pulling her away from me. Even so, I feel an empty chill sweep over us as they drift past. I watch as their numb grey wake dims the light of her eyes with every breath. I watch her die for me a thousand times.

Maybe that’s why they let her come. The chains are there to hurt you.
