It AU
so like... AU where instead of Bev getting taken beyond Pennywise and caught in the deadlights it's Stan. Which would really strike a nerve because he was the least willing to fight IT anyway.
So obviously Bill is the one to break the curse and kiss Stan because #stenbroughforlife. Which would mean you could put a better focus on building up young Benverly and making them a stronger foundation for their future relationship.
Anyway so when Stan sees into the future he sees him and Bill married. So we get not one but two young Stenbrough kisses. A bitter-sweet parting for Ben and Bev, and Reddie get to be in all their usual glory. Meanwhile we get to stan Mike, our AroAce king.
Then fast-forward 27 years and when Mike calls Bill and Stan, Bill doesn't remember about Pennywise. I'm imaging they have and interaction like:
Stan: I can't go, Billy.
Bill: We s-swore, Stanley. That we-we'd go back. I do-don't remember why, but we s-sw-swore.
Stan: But I'm scared, Bill. Something bad happened in Derry.
Bill: We'll m-made it Stan. We'll make it a-again. I p-p-promise. I s-swear.
So Stan lives and he also saves Eddie because Stan is fricken smart like that and he realises that they need to move tf away Eddie! Then all the losers roast the shit out of Pennywise.
They go swimming at the quarry, Ben and Bev finally get together after a more developed build up on both sides. Richie and Eddie have a moment. Bill and Stan are just sitting quietly.
Bill: We m-made it.
Stan: We swore we would.
The whole group has a beautiful group hug. Then the epilogue is narrated partly by all the losers. At the kissing Bridge scene Richie re-carves the E and Eddie re-carves the R and they both carve the +.
Mike goes to California, where he has the time of his life. Ben and Bev have their usual scene. Stan finally gets to release his documentary on birds. Bill publishes a new book, IT. Everyone praises the end.

so the richie's ugly red junkyard car headcanon. you know her, you love her. you were obsessed with her as an obnoxious preteen who's dream car was a red ford (oh wait that was just me)
but i raise you, that thing isn't richie's richie doesn't know jack about cars, but you know who does??? eddie.
the losers were screwing around in a junkyard, eddie is screaming about tetanus and is generally resentful of his current predicament. and then he sees it. and by it i mean a red 1990 ford f-150. the left mirror's been knocked off, the engine is long gone, the paint is so scratched the truck is hardly even red anymore, the right door is hanging on it's hinges, the upholstery is disgusting, the bumper is dinged to hell, and eddie loves it. he'd never normally spring for a red car, but it's the most in tact he'd ever seen a junkyard car and its practically new and if he put it back together he could drive him and his friends all the way out of derry.
he sees this disgusting truck, every possible health hazard in one place, and he sees him and his friends driving up to canada just because they can. he knows he has to have it as soon as he sees it.
obviously his mom would lose her mind, so they push the truck all the way to the tozier household, where went hitches it and drives it up to the hanlon's place. the losers spend all summer working on the car, everyone contributes, and as much as its all their car, it's also definitely eddie's specifically.
they get it working, mostly by finding spare parts in the junkyard, but richie, bev and bill pitch in summer job money to buy a new motor. once it's working, they have to decide on a paint color. eddie hates red cars, he insists they're obnoxious and only idiots who don't know how to drive have red cars, but like... he's kind of attached... he says he chooses red because it'll be easier to work with what they already have than choose an entirely new color, but he's secretly grown fond of how obnoxious the car is.
the losers who have their licenses (mike, richie, bill, stan) help teach eddie how to drive on the farm. derry doesn't have a drive test centre, so all the losers pile into the truck and bill drives them all up to bangor so eddie can take his test. they all sit on the curb outside the drive test centre for the full hour it takes eddie to do the test. it then takes them five hours to drive to canada, eddie drives the whole way even though he's hardly driven up till this point. richie "navigates" but this mostly consists of him elbowing eddie while he tries to figure out the map, while stan looks over his shoulder and actually navigates.
they enter quebec around 7pm (you have to be 19 to ride in a truckbed in maine and i can't find information on that in quebec, but we're going to believe the truckbed law in maine was passed after 1993, and assume quebec has no laws on this because. it's quebec.), and immediately realize none of them speak french. ben is competent in spanish which he manages to use to understand the absolute bare minimum of french. they shell out way more money than they should for a hotel chain because eddie refuses to stay in an independent motel.
they manage to pay for a single room with two twins and a pullout couch. it is altogether a horrible night of sleep but they spend most of it talking and playing cards and eating snacks and trying to figure out if the hotel has roof access (the door says "alarm will sound" but when they try it no alarms sound so!) so it doesn't really matter if they don't sleep that well. the next day they drive up to quebec city and wander around. they have like. no money left so they can hardly do anything but ben has this shitty little camera the losers bought him for his birthday so even though they can hardly do anything they have a ton of fun sightseeing and goofing off and taking pictures.
mike, bill, stan, and richie all take turns on the drive back because eddie's totally exhausted. they get back to derry around midnight and have a sleepover in the tozier basement (where most of the parents thinks they've been staying all weekend anyways). went and maggie are so proud of eddie, and he called them from the drive test centre when he got his license.
Tumblr media
this is the car btw. i definitely DID choose it because it was 13 year old mes dream car.

Richie and Georgie Misadventures Part 1
——————————————————————————
Georgie was having a good day. Mom made pancakes with a face for breakfast, he was the first one to the monkey bars at recess, AND dad told Billy he had to walk home with him today.
So the kindergartner sat on the curb right outside the school office waiting for his big brother. Billy was doing a play right now so he had to practice reallllly late. Georgie didn’t mind waiting though! He is a big boy!
Well, Georgie didn’t mind waiting until at LEAST 12 hours had gone by. He is still yet to learn how to tell time but the snail he’d befriended managed to cross the entire sidewalk into the grass and the sun that was once in front of him now lingered behind the school.
“Well butter my butt and call me a biscuit! George Denbrough is that you?” a nasally southern accent called out.
Confused, Georgie turned around only to be instantly scooped up and turned upside down.
“What’re you doing out here, Squirt?”
Georgie lifted his gaze from his dangling arms to look at his captor, “RICHIE!” he squealed out. His brother’s friend began to poke his fingers into Georgie’s stomach from where he held him making the 5 year old squirm.
“RICHIEEE,” he giggled, “STOP- hahA-OP!”
Abandoning his quest to make Georgie’s insides become street art the older boy righted him whilst keeping a grip on his shoulders.
Only a bit disappointed to be back on the ground Georgie smiled up at Richie as he began to speak, “Is Billy with you?”
Richie gave him a confused look, “No? Is he not with you?” He began to turn around expecting the oldest Denbrough brother to appear out of thin air.
“Billy is in a play so he has to stay at school for SUPER long. But daddy said that we’re supposed to walk home together today so I waited for him like a big boy!” Puffing out his chest he posed to show Richie how tough he is.
Though his brow was furrowed, Richie laughed, “Woah there macho man don’t pull a muscle on me.” He shifted, “are you sure Bill knew you were walking together today it’s really late for rehearsals?”
Well duh Billy knew, daddy told them this morning? “Mhmm, my dad said so,” George considered himself very elephant eloquent for his young age.
Richie pondered this before a grin grew steadily on his face. “How would you like to ditch your boring old brother and walk back with me instead?”
Georgie thought about it, he really wanted to walk home with Billy today, he was the best! But Richie was also the best -Billy must be bester than best. Before the smaller boy could answer Richie spoke again.
“Cmon George! Don’t make me walk all alone,” he paused, “…I’ll give you a piggy back?”
Okay maybe Richie was also bester than best.
“OKAY!”
Richie bent down for Georgie to climb on his back and they started on their way to the Denbrough home.

They’re hanging out on the roof, Bill’s ankle knocking against Richie’s knocking against Bill’s knocking against Richie’s knocking against Bill’s, over and over and over, feeling as endless as the summer does on a day like that, middle of August and not a cloud in the sky, when Richie says, “I kissed Eddie last night.”
He says it casually, like it’s just the kind of thing anyone does, and not the kind of earth-shaking moment Bill’s kind of always known Richie dreamed of doing but would never have bet on coming true.
“I,” Bill says, then regroups. “What?”
“C’mon, Big Bill, don’t tell me all that growing went to your bones and skipped your brain,” Richie jibes, but it’s good-natured. He sounds so calm. Too calm.
Maybe that’s it. Maybe he’s so scared he’s come around to calm. It wouldn’t be the first time it’s happened to someone, wouldn’t be the first time Bill’s seen it. He’s never seen it happen to Richie, not that he can remember, but that’s maybe because Richie has always run on bravado more than this particular brand of bravery.
Bill can remember feeling like this, so fucking scared that it made him brave again, and he’s seen it in Mike’s eyes too. Bev and Ben’s sometimes, though Bev usually doesn’t like to let anything that gets to her show, and Ben’s heart tends towards taking whatever he’s given more than turning it into something that helps him stand stronger. Which isn’t a bad thing or a good thing, it’s just a thing, and it makes Bill want to pull him on the back of Silver sometimes, like it’ll help him remember he’s important too.
Stan gets quiet, and then he gets loud, at least by his standards. It’s not really the same for him, Bill thinks. When he’s scared for his friends, his voice gets stronger and weaker at the same time, like he’s building it back up but he’s building it up with broken parts, making a fractured foundation. It’ll hold, but eventually it’s gotta give. And then when he’s scared about other things, things that don’t make sense, he gets almost angry, like – like how dare that exist, how dare it have the audacity to creep into his head when it doesn’t make sense.
Sometimes Eddie’s like that, but mostly he’s the first type. Sometimes he gets so scared that he forgets he’s scared at all, brave and determined and terrified out of his fucking mind, so much so that he doesn’t even register it.
If Richie kissed him, maybe that’s why he’s feeling like it. Like… Eddie’s probably the bravest person Bill knows, if he thinks about it real hard, and he’s got so much of it in him that maybe it makes sense that some of it ended up in Richie too when they kissed.
That’s probably not how it works—Bill wouldn’t know, he’s only kissed Bev, and Mike, one time, with his warm eyes and warm hands and warm lips, on a dare from Richie that made his pulse skitter off-beat, and Bill’s not as brave as Eddie because he’s never let himself work out why—but it’s all he can think about as he sits there on the roof of Richie’s house and listens, and listens, and listens.
“It was nice,” Richie says after a moment, nonchalant and earnest at the same time, and Bill thinks, huh.
Bill thinks, this is how he sounds when he’s lying and being honest at the same time.
Bill thinks, this is how he sounds when he means it.
Bill says, “Wow,” instead of saying any of that. Then, eyes on their ankles instead of on Richie’s face, like he’s worried Richie might get spooked and fall off the roof, he adds, “Good, uh, good for you.”
A pause, then: “What did Eddie say? Or do?”
Richie looks out into the sky, into the sunlight, a million miles away or maybe just a few hours, the space between now and last night, between that kiss, that moment.
“He stomped on my foot,” Richie says, grinning a little, and it takes Bill so completely by surprise that he snorts.
“He what?” he asks, incredulous.
Richie glances at him, eyes blown wide by his glasses and maybe a little by Eddie Kaspbrak. He’s smiling, that toothy thing that comes out when he’s relieved or when he’s happy or when school finishes and the summer starts. When he feels free, maybe.
“He stomped on my foot,” Richie repeats. Then, smiling in a way that kind of hurts to look at, he says, a little softer, “And then he kissed me back.”

Mike Hanlon Headcanon #2
There's a little book display right at the entrance of the library that Mike set up a few years after he took over as librarian in Derry.
There's a topic of the week that changes every Thursday and it's a big hit with the regulars.
Every once in a while Mike gets asked how he comes up with the different topics and he always answers the same thing, that the themes just come to him while working.
In truth, every topic is linked to the Losers.
Sometimes it's inspired by a memory, like the time Mike put all of the books he could find about canaries on display after he remembered the time Stan had tried to help him get over his fear of birds by taking him to the pet store when they had been 15 years old.
Other times Mike catches an article or news story about one of the Losers that inspires him for the following week, like the fist time he found one of Ben's projects in a magazine and put together an architecture display.
Over the years there had been weeks about poetry, cars, fashion, comedy, friendship. Family.
After Derry 2.0 there's one last display before Mike plans to leave Derry with all 6 of his old friends.
The Losers call him silly when they walk in and see the turtles but Mike just laughs.
And maybe the turtle will, too.

Reddie Fic Recs
Okay so these are the ones I go back to and reread constantly!! All listed have multiple chapters, impeccable grammar/structure, and RIDICULOUSLY good characterization/dialogue. Theyre also all located on AO3. My obsession is too late for peak fandom interactions so these are what keep my hyper fixation alive.
1. In The Heat Of The Summer (You’re So Different From The Rest) by Kaboomslang
There’s a heatwave in L.A., the first time Richie sees Eddie naked.
Or
One very hot year in the life of two idiots in love, working shit out.
It is so so so so fucking good I can’t stand it. It’s an Eddie Lives AU that is 15 Chapters and 109,525 words of pining and comfort and beauty. Eddie comes to stay with Richie in LA after the events of It Chapter 2. Literally my only complaint is that Stan stays dead however the characterization of everyone and the way the writer handles their grief more than made up for it.
2. A Strange Sense of Familiarity by Katranga
“So Eddie, what brings you to the bar tonight?" Richie asked. "Gonna rebound from the divorce? Pick up a hot young twenty-something to feel young again?”
“Fuck you,” Eddie said, jutting his chin forward. “What a terrible way to ruin the mood.”
“I’m sorry, all my moods are poorly cultivated. What mood were you looking for?”
A nervous lump grew in Eddie's throat. He threw back his drink to get rid of it.
Hand wrapped around the glass he’d just slammed back onto the bar, he said, “The mood that gets me leaving with a schlubby forty-something.”
--
Pre-chapter two, Eddie and Richie meet and don't remember each other, but have an instant connection anyway...
This may be my favorite fic of all time. This is a Canon Divergence AU where Richie and Eddie meet at a bar prior to the events of It Chapter 2 and start sleeping together. Eddie is divorced so there’s no infidelity storyline (which I appreciate) HOWEVER Richie is still famous and in the closet so there’s still the secret love affair storyline (that I love). The characterization is literally perfect, it has amazing dialogue, and my boy Stan is alive and involved. The OCs are so so good too and I’m beyond obsessed with all the thought the author obviously put into it.
3. Sweeter By The Hour by Katranga
rich. 25. i can be your angle 😇... or yuor devil 😈
Edward. 38. Please don’t call me daddy.
--
Richie’s a struggling standup comedian slash bartender with a side hustle of sexting rich guys for cash. Eddie is recently divorced, recently out, and reluctant to dive into either the dating or hookup scene. He decides to give Sugr, a 'dating app with no commitment', a shot.
Katranga NEVER MISSES. Even though the losers club is in a completely different universe, the characterization and dialogue is so them that it scratches every itch in my brain. This is such a funny and adorable AU I would recommend to anyone that needs a break from the high stress and extremely high stakes of the traditional It Universe.
4. Here In Your Arms by kaspbrak_kid
Richie had no idea what to expect when Stan and Patty asked him to be their daughter's godfather, but it definitely wasn't becoming the part-time dad to a newborn.
This fic makes me cry like a bitch in the best way possible. This is a several years later fic in a Eddie and Stan Lives AU where Richie becomes godfather to Stan and Patty’s firstborn. This is so so special to me because it perfectly preserves The Loser’s Club dynamics in a safe environment and gives me all the found family warm fuzzies I so desperately need. As usual the characterization is phenomenal and Richie and Eddie’s relationship throughout this fic is so so special to me.
5. Richie Tozier’s Five-Step Mission in Getting Over His Childhood Sweetheart by MissDinahDarling
Alternatively: five times Richie tries to get over Eddie and the one time he gets under him instead.
This fic is so so fucking funny I love everything about it. Its also a Stan and Eddie Live AU and thehe dialogue and losers club dynamics are so so funny. I love seeing little snippets of how the losers lives are moving on and especially appreciate that Bev and Ben didn’t move as quickly as some fics do. Richies denial and stupidity are so relatable and its an extremely comforting read.
6. River by Unicornpoe
The thing—the thing is that Eddie hasn’t seen Richie in nearly five years.
They’ve gotten good at avoiding each other. They alternate holidays and get-togethers, only showing up when they’re sure the other won’t be present. They’re still in the same fucking city but Eddie makes sure to shop on the other side of town from their old place where Richie still lives, makes sure not to go to any of Richie’s favorite restaurants or bars or cafes or goddamn park benches. Eddie doesn’t join in on the Losers’s group FaceTime sessions when he knows Richie’ll be joining, and Richie does the same for him.
They couldn’t make their relationship work, but they’re fucking experts at being exes.
*
Eddie goes to spend the holidays at Bill and Mike's cabin in Vermont, and is surprised when Richie is already there. Things get worse when they're snowed in alone. Things get even more worse when Eddie remembers that he's still in love with him.
This fic gives me the most acute sense of profound longing I’ve ever had in my life. The EXTREMELY angsty hurt/comfort au I’ve ever read in my life. Not extremely inclusive of the rest of The Losers Club, but it hits hard.
7. This Will Be (An Everlasting Love) by camerasparring
Just as the last car is passing them, Prince Charming makes a snuffling noise and Eddie freezes, still pressed on top of him. He’s suddenly aware of every single place they’re touching, and Eddie thanks the brutal Chicago cold - there’s no way he could pop a boner when it’s this freezing. God, he hates himself.
The man opens his eyes for a moment and looks directly into Eddie’s eyes. Eddie’s mouth hangs open. He tries to smile, but he doesn’t think he achieves it. Instead, he swallows and says:
“Merry Christmas.”
The guy passes back out without a word.
__
or, the While You Were Sleeping AU no one asked for. Set Christmas 1995 and the gang is late 20's/early 30's
I read this before ever even hearing of the movie While You Were Sleeping. While the movie is now one of my favorites, it is absolutely nothing compared to the hilarious romcom of this fic. Found family! Secrets! Drama! Stan the mother fucking man! It is so so good and gives me all the good feelings the holidays provide whenever I read it.
8. Scratch On The Moon by Vulcanodon
Eddie Kraspbak has put aside his old life for good. He drives a stagecoach now and keeps to himself- his days of running with the Denbrough gang are long gone. But when two old friends show up and tell him they have unfinished business back in Derry, Eddie can’t resist the chance to put a final nail in the coffin of the past…and maybe find out why Richie broke his promise all those years ago.
“I’ll take left if you take right,” Eddie calls out but when he looks over Richie isn’t even firing his gun; he’s looking at Eddie with a strange, unreadable expression on his face.
“What is it?” Eddie asks, panicking. “Are you hit?”
“No,” Richie says, “I just. I just wanted you know. That I…that I feel the same way.”
“What?” Eddie asks, totally lost. A bullet whistles past his ear.
“I mean I...” Richie says, as if he’s struggling to get it out. “I feel the same way about you. I mean. That I always did.”
“Could we maybe postpone this conversation?” Eddie says, having to yell over the gunfire. “To a time when we aren’t getting shot at?”
Are you gay? Is longing and the tragedy of wasted time your guilty pleasure? Did you read River by Unicornpoe and want more? Do you like westerns? READ THIS FIC AND COME TALK TO ME IMMEDIATELY!!!!!!
9. You Ain’t Nothing But A Hound Dog (And They Call It Puppy Love) by Fluffifullness
Okay, Richie, so you’ve just been Shaggy Dog’d, you’re either kicking it in the weirdest of all possible afterlives or you never died and the sewer clown is punking you. What next?
(or: Eddie makes it out of Derry, gets a divorce, and adopts a dog.)
Richie gets “Shaggy Dog’d” after he sacrifices himself for Eddie during the events of It Chapter 2. Grief, pining, and Richie’s internal monologue being fucking hilarious. And STAN LIVES!!!!!!
10. Thanks For Pudding Up With Me by Mooeydooey
Eddie Kaspbrak was once one of the most influential professional chefs in New York. After an unfortunate incident in his kitchen, he loses his job and most of his earnings. Down on his luck, with no where else to go, he accepts a job offer with the ragtag 'Prospect Test Kitchen' in Boston.
What starts as a small passion project, making cooking tutorials online, becomes a lot more complicated and bigger than they could ever imagine when Bill brings in a new addition to their team. A comedian with a shocking background and surprise talent for culinary arts: Richie Tozier.
Eddie's the only one who doesn't like the new recruit, but Bill bribes Eddie into giving Richie a chance. At the end of six months, Richie's contract will expire. Eddie will get to decide whether they offer him a contract renewal, or refuse to re-hire him.
Things are heating up in the Prospect street Test Kitchen! Will Eddie stick to his guns, and keep his dignity? Or will he get lost in the sauce?
SO FUCKING FUNNY!!! An absolutely genius buzzfeed-esque au that is exactly what I need when I want a laugh. My favorite parts are when they go into like a third person screenplay mode for describing the events in the videos. I cannot get enough of this enemies(?) to friends to lovers au and I’m so so glad it exists.
11. A Fistful of Coal Dust by Jay Auris (nighthawkms)
Eddie Kaspbrak usually works alone. For a bounty hunting mage, this is unheard of; dangerous, foolhardy. But for Eddie - stricken with a dangerous abnormality to his magic - it's the safest way to survive.
When a new bounty takes him to the backwater town of Derry, he's not expecting anything more than a hard job done right for good money. But Eddie's past is about to catch up with him, and Derry could face the consequences. He'll have to team up with a rag-tag bunch of misfits - a sheriff with too much on his shoulders, a tavern owner haunted by loss, and four other hunters with their own secrets and motivations - if he wants to survive.
And maybe, if he's lucky, he'll get an answer to the one question that's been bugging him since he got to Derry: Who is Richie Tozier, and what does he want from Eddie?
A super fun Steampunk-Western-Magic-Bounty Hunter AU that has the perfect ratio of action, drama, and intrigue. I have no idea how the author came up with such an amazing idea and how they were able to do so much incredible world building but I absolutely LOVE IT.
If anyone reads any of these fics I would love to talk about them and hear what you think! They’re all so so so special to me and stay on my fic rotation, so if y’all have any suggestions for me too I’m happy to check them out!

“You’ve been staying with Ben and Bev?” Richie asked, dumbly.
“Yeah, you idiot,” Eddie said with a short, stiff laugh. “I mentioned it at dinner.”
“The whole time?” he asked. “Since Derry?”
“About then, yeah,” Eddie said, and he struggled to pull his strap higher onto his good shoulder with his only hand, hyperextending his thumb in a way that looked almost painful. “Ever since I filed for divorce.”
Everything Richie thought that he knew about how Eddie had been spending the weeks since Derry reworked itself in his mind.
sneak peak of the next chapter of too high, too far, too soon
