We’ve had the pleasure of serving with this race for years and the profits go to support organ donation, as the organizers daughter was a donor. I didn’t know how up-hill yesterday’s run was until I started biking the same path today and didn’t have to pedal the whole first mile and a half down the trail. I truly didn’t think I’d be able to get back up. I said to @soso.francis “I’m not even doing any work this direction and then the way back, I’m going to have to walk!” Luckily we found a steady part of the trail to get some solid miles in and then by some huffing and puffing miracle I made it back up the trail minus the hill immediately up to our house. Sarah was a champion, though, climbing those hills with ease. We did almost 9 miles all around. I’ve concluded that maybe I don’t like to bike as much as I thought I did, but I’m going to keep giving it a try. Sitting here writing I’m thinking about how sometimes we don’t even realize how easy it is to go downhill until we’re having to climb our way back up. It takes serious determination and STRENGTH to keep going. So to those of you climbing uphill, keep going- one step at a time. Hope you make it outside today. On my way home from work this morning I passed a handful of runners and I was cheering them on thinking of how strong they looked. I came home, ate leftover pizza, took a nap, woke up so bloated, and considered not working out today. Instead- I put my shoes on and headed out the door. I set out to just get four miles in, and after half a mile started to run. I ended up running a 5k and walking a total of a mile more. I didn’t know I could do it, but at each half mile I just kept challenging myself to the next one. The last hill up to my house was tough, but good tunes got me through the moments I was tempted to stop. Aka @thebandcamino And @lizzobeeating I didn’t stop because I didn’t need to. My body is getting stronger than I think it is. Hopefully somebody saw me running and thought, “She looks strong and I want to do that too,” the way I did this morning with the strangers on the street. I also kept thinking of @dancingwiththeo saying “smiling makes it easier,” and smiled at every person that passed by even if I was dying. Today I’m proud of myself. I hope you’re proud of yourself, too! Even if it’s a rest day- we all need those. Today’s workout consisted of more yard work, my favorite biceps and triceps video (still can’t really do the pushups but I’m getting better), and then two miles out with the dogs - which just might be equivalent to the six I do on my own.
