I'm a big fan of the way this show explores gender roles thorugh Akemi and Mizu, with the former doing her best to gain power and agency within the constraints placed on her by society, while the latter rejects the entire system. Also, they're ridiculously fun to ship, even if that isn't entirely what this video is doing.
The music is "Wayward Daughter," composed by Masayoshi Soken with lyrics by Natsuko Ishikawa and Christopher Koji-Fox, with vocals by Satoko Fujita, Takashi Baba, and Joe Tsuchizaki. It appears in the game Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood, during the Tsukuyomi trial in patch 4.3.

Find it very funny that the top 5 most popular Blue Eye Samurai videos on Youtube, are the first episode at well over a million, then two of the trailers, then a ten minute long Mizu and Taigen enemies to lovers AMV, then the final trailer, and the AMV is the newest. Lol
People really love Mizu and Taigen's relationship, check out the AMV its really well done

I need more blue eye samurai edgy edits and amvs. I’m talking monster, animal I have become, bodies, classics like that. Most edits right now are thirst edits, WHICH ARE FINE. But that’s not what I crave.

One set to Remember the Name opening with that one assassin saying no one will know Mizu's name.
And one set to Mama Mia (musical movie cast).

Images from this years Kumoricon 2023! Portland is such a fun city, and my good friends Deb & Brian drove down from Seattle to hang out for the weekend. I got to meet voice actors Dani Chambers and J. Michael Tatum (he's really TALL by the way!). Happy to see RWBY cosplay still out there in the wild (Ruby Rose, Blake Belladonna) as well as Old and New Vash the Stampede. Even some Barbie cosplay! I flew out on Thursday to PDX (after several delays and a VERY bumpy ride until we passed the Rockies), at lunch at PDX in the same bar & grill at PDX (Hopworks) with the same bartender, whom I greeted. I then went straight to the Oregon State Convention Center after a quick ride on the Red MAX Line Train (light rail). It was late enough in the day that I was able to check into my hotel room at the Hyatt Regency without delay. I dropped off my things and promptly got on TriMet Bus #77 to the local Safeway grocery store, and came back with 2 six packs of PNW craft brew in tow and some distilled water for my CPAP. I got snacky late at night and had a Tuna Poke Bowl at the hotel bar in the Lobby, then I went back upstairs and binged Blue Eye Samurai on Netflix on my iPad until like 4am, then snoozed for a few hours before getting up for the breakfast buffet to start my day at the con. Unfortunately the viewing room had technical issues so some of the anime content I wanted to watch I couldn't at the scheduled times, which was annoying. I got to meet Dani Chambers and had her autograph a character print of a Chibi version of Chise from Ancient Magus Bride, then had a California chicken sandwich at Red Robin and then met my friends at the hotel. They had to go to pick up their badges so I got in line for the AMV Contest screening. It took my friends 2.5 HOURS to clear registration, which was a nightmare. Deb ended up catching only the final category, so we made time to watch the encore AMV Contest screening Sunday morning. They went back to Seattle on Sunday after lunch but I attended the AMV Contest Winners reveal screening which was also fun. We did at least watch the AMV Aftershow on Saturday before grabbing dinner at the hotel restaurant. We watched Kaze-san and Morning Glories (English Dub) in the viewing room Friday evening then went out separate ways. Saturday we did shopping in the Dealer's Room/Artist Alley, then took the Blue MAX Line train over into the West bank side of Portland. We had a sushi lunch then appetizers at Deschutes Brewery (a Portland institution!) then rode the streetcar back to catch the Red MAX Line train back to the hotel. We attended a panel called Laugh Out Loud AMVs that was actually more like a game show and not very good. We did get a few laughs at the end but we kinda wish the whole panel had been that way. We got some to-go dinners from Burgertime and unfortunately Deb & Brian were pooped out and retired to their room while I attended the AMV Classics panel which was GREAT. All in all, it was a great trip and I still love Kumoricon (my 2nd time, back to back) and I really like Portland, Oregon. It's probably one of my favorite out of state cons now. I even worked up the courage to Cosplay as Lum's Dad from Urusei Yatsura. Not the best, I know, but best I could throw together as an amateur on my budget. I did that Friday when the weather was best.

15 questions
Tagged by @itstimetodrew~!! Thanks for the tag!! ☺️
1. Are you named after anyone?
No, I don't think so! I think my parents just went through the list of baby names for girls and settled on Joanna lol.
2. When was the last time you cried?
Uhh... I teared up watching one of the episodes of Blue Eye Samurai a couple days ago but the last time I Cried was on my flight back to Boston last Friday rewatching episode three of The Last of Us lmaoo. (I was like SURELY I won't cry on my nth rewatch... #rip to me)
3. Do you have kids?
*Puts on my meme hat* What am I a child bride?
4. What sports do you play/have you played?
Swimming and soccer growing up. I did ballet for like a year or two also when I was like 5. Since graduating college I haven't really done any sports, just working out at the gym pre-pandemic and then at home since the pandemic, although one of my friends is trying to start a pickup soccer group which I'll probs join if it takes off. Do want to get back into swimming again also. That's on my 2024 todo list. I've tried running as a hobby enough times to know that I suck at it and that I hate it lmao.
5. Do you use sarcasm?
Does anyone not? lol
6. What is the first thing you notice about people?
Hmm, probably their outfit; I enjoy seeing people's different styles!
7. What's your eye color?
Brown <3
8. Scary movies or happy endings?
Happy endings!!
9. Any talents?
Ugh, no?? I can't think of anything lol. Being a procrastinator and the ultimate lazy bum (only half joking). idk man, I used to be proud of my writing and amv skills but I haven't seriously tried to write anything in probably a decade and I don't think I'm ever getting back into making amvs lol. Letting things go/being resilient maybe? I'm at the point in my life where everything is just 'it is what it is', but I think I've always been good at moving on from things tbh. Life's too short to dwell.
10. Where were you born?
Wisconsin of all states lol
11. What are your hobbies?
Nothing creative anymore, that's for sure (#rip). Uh, I love going out and doing things. I'm the furthest thing from a homebody so being trapped at home during the pandemic drove me nuts. Things I do on the regular include visiting independent bookstores, art museums, and seeing shows. I try to travel/see someplace new on the regular, whether that's going out of state/country or walking through a new neighborhood in the Boston area. I love eating, definitely a foodie. I read a lot (more fanfic than actual lit these days whoops) and watch a lot of tv. I also enjoy just walking around and people watching (will frequently walk around the neighborhood/city without any real purpose in mind as I go crazy if I'm cooped up in my apt for too long). I also love sending snail mail and exchange postcards monthly with a friend in London, and send holiday cards/postcards to family/friends when I travel. I guess documenting my interests on Tumblr can also be considered a hobby considering how much time I spend on here lmao.
12. Do you have any pets?
No, but I plan to adopt a cat when I (hopefully) get my own place!
13. How tall are you?
5'4" :')
I'd love another two inches... just two measly inches :')))
14. Favorite subject in school?
Growing up, probably math. I was good at it, and I loved how logical it was. I also really enjoyed chem, probably because it was the most math adjacent science (hilariously though, I hated physics). In college obviously computer science, my major. Though I've always loved my literature classes also.
15. Dream job?
Man I'd love to open and own an independent bookstore/cafe. Dream job for real.
Tagging (if you want!) @lordsardine, @goldshitter, @akechikurusus, @popflythesky, and anyone else who wants to do this!

6, 23, and 33 for the ask meme :)
6. Describe your dream home
Bookshelves that lead into a secret underground room. Bed that hangs/bounces for maximum stim. Trampoline or swing in the back. Tinted windows. One of those libraries with the sliding ladder. Two cats at least, dogs as aspirational. Dreaming bigger, it would need to be either self-cleaning or self-dusting, and possibly order groceries for me. Dreaming biggest, straight up holodeck/matter replicator so I can come home, crash on my snorlax stomach and order any hot meal immediately.
23. Who are five of your favorite bands/musical artists?
I'm gonna straight up admit it: my music taste is AMV. Right now I'm going through Blue Eye Samurai. Also To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar is free, and that's a great watch.
33. If money was no object, what would your wardrobe be like?
Probably similar to what I wear now, although I would like more boots, belts with things hanging off them and extra pockets, and the courage to wear weirder hats. It's more about comfort than anything else and I've heard witch hats are great for keeping your head cool.

So this new show dropped recently and it is exactly my jam. Blood, revenge, gender ambiguity, and one of the most compelling protagonists I've ever seen in a show like this. It's just damn good television, and I had to make something to show my appreciation for it.
The song is "Wasteland" by 10 Years.

Summary:
Alternate ending to "The Tale of the Ronin and the Bride." It would have been easier to let the guards spirit Akemi away, but what if Mizu made the opposite choice?
Author's Note: Blue Eye Samurai is one of those shows that comes along and punches you in the face with how good it is. It managed to stir my creative juices like nothing else I've seen recently, and I had to process my feelings about it somehow (I also made like, three AMVS in a weekend). Thank you to @foibles-fables for providing feedback on the rough draft of this story. Hope you enjoy!
