I`ve been rewatching the car scene from episode 4 and there`s that moment just after “Alone And Forsaken” starts to play when Joels face changes completely. There is something so soft about this expression, he`s not quite smiling, but his face relaxes, he closes his eyes and he looks like he got lost in a memory. And you can see it’s a good one, a safe one. To me that would suggest that it was something from way before.

Because thats a face of a person that got reminded of something from his childhood. Something half-forgotten until someone brings it up and you remember it as vividly as if it was yesterday. Every texture, every sound and every smell. And you can’t help, but smile, cause it was so long ego, but also not really, you`re still the same person. And music is like magic, it`s the only time machine we have, works every time!

And that got me thinking! If this music is from before Joel`s time, is it possible it`s something his father used to listen to? His favorite road trip music maybe? And Joel was the one in the backseat, just like Ellie is now, going crazy from boredom, asking a million questions, waving at the passing cars or making crazy faces and then hiding? And then when Tommy was old enough was it both of them playing or fighting and driving their father mad in a process?

It breaks my heart in the best way because this is just the beginning of Joels journey and hes changed so much already, to the point hes able to access this small part of himself and it makes him feel soft, even if just for a second.  Makes him think about a time everything was simpler, sweeter, kinder? Somehow those memories survived all those years completely unscathed, as if they`ve existed in a protective bubble untouched by anything that came after. They`ve formed their own little universe where Joel`s small hands knew nothing of violence or survival yet, just toys and ice cream cones. Nothing of the nightmares to come, just a moving car, his dad`s favorite song and his little brother annoying the hell out of him. A small moment preserved forever on the Hank Williams cassette tape.

emmet already knew what happened to ingo. it was obvious. veeerrrryyyyy obvious. but not to others, he supposes. it’s fine. emmet is nothing but a patient man. he can wait a while until the others finally come across a clue.

ever since he was a boy, emmet knew more things than everyone. puzzles? he already knew the answer before being given it. new learning material. seemingly everything was memorized perfectly in mere moments. mysteries? give him one he’ll enjoy ad it’ll be done in five minutes max. of course this meant he always knew what the outcome of a battle would be but he always put his all in it. after all, a battle is not fun unless both participants are serious about it. it wouldn’t be fair to either party otherwise.

gear station already had measures in place in case if either boss or both bosses went missing. the station was using plan ingo when emmet was taken in for questioning about ingo’s disappearance. nobody in nimbasa thought of him at fault for his brother’s disappearance but it was mostly a safety precaution. also to get the league off of the city’s metaphorical back. emmet kept the knowledge of what happened to himself, it would only cause problems for the station and he would hate for his employees and passengers to deal with everything the league would have in store for them. instead, he claimed he was doing his own investigation but was being slowed down with all the work he was doing to keep the subway running. that unfortunately didn’t satisfy the league.

emmet was getting quite tired of them. verrrryyy tired. he needed a break. but he also didn’t want to leave the station. just because he knew practically everything didn’t mean he saw his employees taking charge and making him use some of his years worth of vacation days. and also sending him to hoenn of all regions. at least it isn't kalos?

now, what will he do when he's on vacation? help people. obviously. emmet is a public worker at heart and he loves to help others. he manages to set up a detective agency and get a fitting wardrobe (courtesy of elesa) in two weeks. he quickly gains notoriety in the local town's population for how quickly he's able to solve cases and how he seemingly knows everything. of course he doesn't do this under his actual name. where would the fun in that be? he gives himself a pen name, like authors do.

Always funny to me when my coworkers notice how much of a germaphobe I am when they see me wipe down my cart in the morning. I dont just wipe the handle, I wipe the top of the sides and the top part of the baby seat, places where people grab other than the handle. Then I use hand sanitizer bc by that point I've touched: the cart, the scanner locker screen and locker, my scanner (also wipe that shit down, yuck), my lock, and the spray bottle. So yucky places.

I mean hey maybe I'm not giving my immune system that boost of exposure, but I'm also not giving it covid, norovirus, or influenza from touching the cart and scanner so 🤷‍♀️

This is the silliest thing I realized—

Quan-chi is my dad’s favorite character (could be considered a blorbo for him but I might be over-exaggerating lmao) while Swanky Kong is my favorite character. They literally have nothing in common so it’s jarring to see them right next to each other—

I still remember the time when Quan-chi was revealed in the Kombat Pack in MK1, I literally ran up to him to show Quan-chi in the trailer. 💀 (and no, I don’t have any regrets of doing that, he smiled!!)

Starting to think my dad was the cause of my love of DKC because he was the one who got DKC1 in a local flea market, younger me didn’t know what she was getting into when she picked up that SuperNES controller, man. 😭 (actually, I remember playing Diddy Kong Racing on the DS? I thought it was a vivid dream because of a blue elephant, which turns it was Taj)

After saying all of this, I just realized DK was in my life longer than I realized - the signs were all there, I was too naive to see!! 😭 *head in hands* basically destined to be a DK fan 😞 worse fate than death /j

#grymms spectacular fucking posts #my sister is an incredibly frustrating person to live with #she spends all day either at her computer playing games or in her bed #she has back and knee pain that makes it so she cant bend over plus general chronic pain so she doesn't do a whole lotta chores. which i get #but she also complains about our parents not doing enough to take care of the house. like they both have fulltime jobs and have to take care #of 2 disabled kids. it's not fair to expect that they can also regularly do chores ontop of that #and if she spent her time putting in a bit more of her fair share of housework then I'd be a bitmore understanding but she doesn't do that #much. like i have chronic pain and i go to school 5 days a week and i do more chores than her #and she's an incredibly stubborn and emotional person who will flip out at anything and so i feel like im walking in eggshells talking to he #r #one time i was upset and said that if our parents went to jail for me skipping school I'd just dumpstedive for food and she said she didnt #wanna do that and i said she didnt have to. and she took me saying that as saying i wanted her to starve and didnt talk to me for a month #like if i cant even say something small and stupid when im upset and she's the one whose egging me on by saying stuff while im upset then #what can i even say around her aughhhh #anyways i know that shit like this is why i have a therapist but there's genuinely nothing i can do about this because she is the problem #and she's the one who isn't doing anything and aughhhhhh she makes my life so much harder just by being around #and i love her i want her to get better and move out for her own good but it's so hard to love someone who is nothing but a burden who #refuses to be responsible
