Re about the FEH vs Cipher rant from the last day...

Back when Cipher was a thing, we could have gotten this fanart.

Sure it's only fanart and all, but this is, imo, better at "making the characters live between the games" than releasing a very sad'n'lonely about a goddess whose only wish is to bang you.

Silly and fun things were supposed to be the theme of seasonal banners, imagine if we got some sort of "trying to emulate heroes they look up to" lizard banner, with Y!Tiki using a sword, Myrrh trying to use a lance, Kana using a cardboard Yato, and, idk, Fa trying to use Igrene's bow (their sprites being something like Amelia's trainee sprites where she tumbles with her lance or something weird, like Billy's animations, maybe instead of stabbing with the lance, Myrrh throws it and it falls, dealing damage, on the opponent, something like that) -

Sure we would have the obnoxious fans rant about "characters getting alts" again, with extra salt from the A!Tiki stans - but just think of the fun and cute interactions in a multiverse...

Instead, we have "orientalism : the festival" banners, "bunnies for those who are horny!" banners, the "bridal harem!" banner and a bunch of non interesting stuff.

Tea-time last year might have been something nice - 1st gen Jugdral parents meeting their children and trying to make up for, well, not being there in the second gen - but it had to be Fodlan'd (with Mercedes suddenly forgetting she left Adrestia) because gods forbid we have no Fodlan unit on a banner or FEH devs miss on an occasion to remind the world Lysithea loves sweets.

(I wouldn't have meant a Ferdie backpack to, idk, Siggy or something, where he could say that those ceremonies are common in Fodlan, and an occasion to spend time with people you care about instead of saying those weird "let's have tea breaks while we're invading people because taking a break is more important than their lives i guess" nonsensical lines, that would, honestly, make any Jugdral character from this banner reduce him to 1 HP).

Anyways,

While Cipher had its share of lewd designs - it also showed more care and love the for characters of the franchise than FEH - or maybe the artists had more leeway in FE Cipher than in FEH, I mean, Daisuke Izuka draws awesome units in FEH, but on his X channel, he drew... Riev T-Posing, or his anniversary arts always feature badasses (Hardin vs Hardin, this year's league of super villains, Sharena's parents being in luf and dancing while smacking bandits right and left, etc etc).

Given what we get in anniversary artworks...

(yep, even Cleobulus and Cyril being a weird match up)

I'd more interested in having those ideas than another "but she is forced to do evil things by an evyl figure and is very sad and very lonely and just needs your luf" shit of a story.

Since the FEH New Year banner has thoroughly disappointed but not surprised me, here's some predictions for other banners that have a better shot of featuring my Engage favourites in 2024...

Day of Devotion: Perfect for the flower crown royals of Firene.

Easter: Actually, the only time I ever liked this was when it featured Alfonse and Sharena. The bunny outfits generally weird me out. Please don't dress my blorbos up like that.

Fallen: This NEEDS to be a dragon banner. Red Alear! Evil Veyle! Great Fell Dragon Rafal! Maybe a Corrupted Lumera too? ...Granted, Fallen characters are supposed to be in a state of murderous rage, and Red Alear's mindset is 'please let me stop murdering people I hate it', but the Heroes team aren't always bothered with nuance.

Summer: Since we know what qualifies a character to be on this banner, let's go with swimsuit Nel. Throw in Veyle as well in a cute sundress, let them do some fun sisterly bonding on a beach holiday. It's what they deserve.

Picnic: What's the most awful sandwich filling Chloe can dream of?

Bridal: I have no strong feelings on this theme. Pick some ladies – this means adults, thank you – and put them in fancy white gowns.

Ninja: Zelkov and Kagetsu? Also, please give us Ivy Trio appearances in their canon outfits soon, preferably on the same banner so I only have one target to throw orbs at.

Halloween: Surrender all of your candy to Rafal, or face the Consequences.

Pirates: Bring back the pirate banners! You can dress anybody in an outfit like that and it'll be great.

Besides that, I can only pray male Alear doesn't get thrown into the same never-getting-a-legendary pit as male Corrin. Don't even talk to me about Camilla.

"Awww! That's super super cute!" Sharena gushes at the sight of the golden bunny(?). Unable to stop herself, she takes it by its stubby little hands, and guides it through a spin. She giggles. "Sorry, I couldn't help myself. Do you have a name? Mister..." she scrunches her nose up, "or, uh, Miss...?"

Sharena would be the type to think the costume was cute. Soren supposed it might even be objectively cute, if there was such a thing.

He let himself be spun, endearingly hopping along as they twirled. It was… odd. People didn’t generally see him and giggle and want to play and dance. It’s not like he wanted them to, but since it was happening…

No. I refuse to enjoy this. He tried to scold himself out of it, but it was nice, just for once, to feel some of the genuine joy people had at these times directed at him. Had he been younger, back in the years when he’d actually been a child who would be enraptured by all of this, that kind of attention might have changed his life.

Wishing his past had been different never helped. If anything, if he’d been softer, more trusting, who knew how many times over such an outlook could have gotten himself killed.

When she asked his name he gave a nod but didn’t speak. It was getting to the point where maybe the costume could have come with business cards for these kinds of things, but he also assumed Thunder Mouse probably didn’t go to many executive meetings.

Without answering further, he waved with both paws and wandered off.

His face felt funny, and he realized he wasn’t really scowling anymore.

The truth is she's already trotting closer before the other even finishes, hands clasped behind her back as she tilts all the way to one side (the side closer to Sharena, of course). They've talked little more than in passing, but something about her is just so... just so! Like a sprig of flowers in a dense and verdant forest, or the glow of a firefly against the sunrise, she is wondrous in her light; they hardly need to be best friends for Maria to see it, and to admire her.

(Though that is not to say she does not wish to be friends; rather, it sounds very lovely indeed)

The compliment draws her hand up to her mouth, her smile cut into slivers behind the shield of her fingertips and appreciation writ not in words, but in crinkled eyes. "You look..." Pretty is not the word of the hour, though Sharena is always pretty. Instead... "Dashing!" She settles on instead, and the photo-artifex seems to laugh with her, shuttering that very moment and capturing forever her gleeful laugh and bunny-eared head.

Then, when she accepts the paper from the artificer, Maria breaks into laughter anew. "I've been made a bunny again!" She huffs (except not really), smiling down at the image. "Wow... It's a really nice picture, though. And look! See? Dashing, heeheehee."

It’s Easter, and to celebrate this occasion that was previously foreign to him, Ziin calls on the Riders to play a game for him, an Easter Egg hunt.

Keiwa: Ace, why’d you introduce him to a foreign holiday?

Ace: is it bad that I miss it? I really missed hunting for Easter eggs like I did with my past life.

And so that’s how the Riders wound up in various bunny costumes finding Easter Eggs.

Keiwa's Cinderace *only shirtless with a blue backpack, orange shorts and shoes and black socks. And of course bunny ears-headband with a tuft of red hair in the middle.

K:-It's magic. I actually really liked that he was an Archer, as it's one of his starting proficiencies. So it was cool to have the Christmas alt go with that. Still disappointed we haven't seen a sword using Takumi, despite him sparring with Ryoma in a support. 

So yah, magic egg. A proficiency in reason is only unlocked after tutoring. 

Though a dagger egg would be neat, I see it as more unlikley.
