Good evening, I'm sliding into your asks because I was just accosted by thoughts of how Carter might handle his short-term telepathic connection to Wilde post resurrection specifically in the Placeholder universe, any comment? -holds microphone in your direction-
NOT WELL!!!
god i hadn't even considered this but yeah. yeah.
how'd you expect him to handle it, huh? feeling wilde's emotions through him. carter's not part of that conversation, isn't there when zolf takes wilde's hand and tells him he'd let wilde go but he doesn't want to, not if there's any other way. has to feel wilde's heartbeat stutter over hearing those words, even though carter doesn't know what those words are. zolf laughs and carter feels a gush of warmth that's all from wilde, all from wilde to zolf.
and then it'll be better when wilde's elsewhere, right? easier at least. but then something happens and wilde is scared and wilde is angry and carter doesn't know what's happening to him other than that something is happening to wilde that is causing carter to shake in his bunk, his heart trying to crawl its way up out of his chest and then-
and then it's hollow and empty, and carter swears wilde hasn't died- sassraa can back him up on this, it didn't feel like a death, but wilde's not there-
how long until wilde falls back out of that portal and into other london? how long does carter spend left completely in the dark on this?
all of a sudden it's easier to feel wilde's love for zolf, because at least wilde's alive, right? except!!!! wilde does die. carter's overcome with a sense of peace, something warm and calm and restful, and then it's like he's been split open from the middle again, the feel of the ship's shrapnel not as distant a memory as he'd like it to be. sassraa feels it too, he can hear them cry out but he can't focus on that, because it hurts where wilde hurts and hurts where carter hurts, and there's so much here it's overwhelming, he closes his eyes and
and wilde's alive. nothing in their connection tells him that was zolf, but carter knows his teammates and despite what most of them all think, he's not an idiot. doesn't need the next moment of warmth, the ghost of arms around his middle to prove that point.
it's almost a relief, really, when they make it to london and crash into the fucking dragon. almost a relief when the world Changes, magic draining from it like blood from a corpse, or wilde's feelings from carter's heart

It may be a little far to mention WHGTB now, but I remember you mentioned before how Tom would react if Harry really died in the first two times (the time when Harry went out to find food and the time when his grandfather was killed)
However, Harry died in WHGTB not only twice, but I really want to know how Tom would react if Harry died several times and didn't bring him back as the owner of death? When Harry mourned for Beth in the snow, did he die once? I remember the description in that paragraph. Harry was almost frozen stiff until magic began to save his body.If he really dies at this time, and Tom comes home and only sees Harry's frozen body ... I can't imagine what it would be like. And the duel between Harry and Grindelwald and the time when Harry committed suicide by drinking poison, I really want to know how Tom will react when Harry really dies at these moments.
I would be very grateful if you could answer my question!!!
Hi! Oh, no worries, I'm always glad to get asks about my stories, including the ones I've already finished.
I think that if Harry were to die at any point for good, especially after Tom got fully hooked on him, it would break and destroy Tom irrevocably.
In the first scenario you mentioned, if Harry wasn't a MoD and froze to death in his grief over Tom becoming a murderer, and Tom came upon him, I struggle to even imagine how he would manage to survive with his sanity intact. He'd understand that it happened because of him, because of his direct involvement, and this thought would never leave his mind. It'd torment him until the end of the times.
He'd stay there with Harry's body for the entire day and night, with only his own magic keeping him alive, and after that, if he succeeded in gathering himself together at least a little bit, he'd start to plan. He wouldn't tell anyone that Harry is dead because then it would mean accepting this new reality, and this is something he'd never do. Tom would construct some icy coffin to preserve his body and look at it whenever he wants, remembering why he needs to keep functioning, and then he'd throw himself into studying time travel, resurrection, immortality, and other related themes, all the while acting like Harry is alive both for the others and for the benefit of his own sanity. He'd send him letters from Hogwarts, write replies pretending to be Harry, argue with the imagined version of him, etc. Sooner or later, he'd succeed in bringing Harry back. Someone with Tom's level of power, in the world of magic, and with his determination can probably do anything.
What kind of life they'd have afterward is another question. I doubt Tom would be entirely sane at that point.
As for the second scenario, in the duel with Grindelwald, once Tom realized Harry was dead, he'd probably end up dead himself. He wouldn't be able to destroy Grindelwald on his own since Tom at that age wasn't his equal, and the pain, horror, and devastation from Harry's death would engulf him completely. Either Grindelwald would kill him, using his state, or Tom's own magic would tore him from inside out in an attempt to kill Grindelwald or bring Harry back.
With the poison, Tom would probably repeat the pattern from scenario 1. After forcing himself to resume functioning again, he'd throw everything he had into reversing what Harry did and reviving him. Only he wouldn't pretend like Harry isn't gone, he'd be entirely focused on his task, consumed by it to the point where Hogwarts and keeping up the pretense wouldn't matter.

idk maybe fyodor can resurrect until he reaches his goal? or maybe it's a cycle? killing a certain amount of people is his crime and dying after it only to resurrect is his punishment?
i mean his ability is 'crime and punishment' which is something two sided and one thing leads to other thing so the act of 'killing' leads to his own 'death' and his resurrection, only to repeat again and again
wait- maybe he thinks he has to remove all abilities to break the cycle but in reality he has to acknowledge his crimes to do it? maybe the narrator (asagiri himself) is tricking us to think fyodor is some sort of 'jesus' who kills and dies for our sins but in fact he is committing those crimes mainly for his own goals. he thinks, similar to razumihin (c&p); someone has to do all these and that someone is above everyone, someone who sheds blood to cleanse us, someone who sacrifices their humanity for our sins, just like a savior, a god. he believes that and persuades us to believe it too.

Okay, we all know being a demigod is a shit position. Its scary and gets you killed in really nasty ways. But I feel like being a Big Three Kid has to be the shitiest position in all the shit positions.
Like, imagine being Thalia Grace. Your dad is king of the gods, lord of the skies. Led a war to get rid of a tyrant. And the only thing you get is his scorned wife AND brother, who both try to kill you (with one technically succeeding), a drunk of a mother, and brother who you thought was dead. Oh, wait, he’s not dead! No instead he was used as an offering to appease your dad’s wife and help fight in a war and prevent mass destruction.
Or maybe you can imagine being Percy. Son of the sea god, the stormbringer, the earthshaker. You get to live with a disgusting, abusive man for around 6 years. Who smells like literal shit. All because your scent as a demigod is too strong, BECAUSE of who your father is. You see things that you aren’t supposed to see and do things that people can’t do and go years thinking something is wrong with you. That your the problem. Then you get to the one place where you’re supposed to be save. But! Here is the kicker! You’re not! Your uncles hate you and you’ve been accused of stealing a symbol of power. A series of events that will kick off a war, and guess what. You’re a center point for it. Welcome to Camp Half-Blood.
Mhm, but then there’s Hazel. Daughter Pluto, god of the underworld and riches. But that doesn’t really change anything does it? She’s still living in 1930s America, in a red state. One where confederate flags still hang if you go deep enough into the city. She go to a school where the kids are supposed to be just like her! They still don’t like her tho. She’s got no idea who your father is, only that he left her with a parting gift. Only it’s not really a gift. Sure, she can pull rubies and diamonds from the earth, all worth millions. But anyone who’s ever gonna touch it will die. She lives with her mother, a woman gone so mad with greed it kills her. And Hazel, by the way. Laying dead Alaska, inhaling oil. But it doesn’t end there! She can’t have her mother suffering for eternity, can she? The answer is no. Hazel gets to spend the next 70 years in the Fields of Asphodel. It still doesn’t end! Because when she’s brought back to life, she gets to fight in a war against giants, her sad story seemingly never ending.
Nico’s a son of one of the Big Three, one of the most ancient and most powerful. But most people look at him as something bad, something not worth taking a second glance at. Something too look away from, mostly. He’s from the 30s, spent years in a magical time casino with only his sister at his side. She doesn’t stay for long though, she dies soon after they discover their heritage. And he doesn’t remember his mother much, a name without a face. A face without a name. He survived an attempted assassination at 2, though it wouldn’t be the only time his was life was threatened. He clings to his sister, even though she’s dead. He’s the son of the god of the underworld, is he not? There had to be a way, and there is. Only she won’t talk to him, she seems more concerned with communicating with the guy who got her killed instead. She chooses rebirth, and he decides to lay it to rest. She’s not coming back, and he has a war to fight in. (He gets stuck in a jar and forcibly outed a few years later, but that’s a lot to get into for now.)
Jason Grace is a pillar of New Rome, their golden boy, their American boy. He’s a son of Jupiter, a natural born leader. He’s been at camp for as long as he can remember, he wants to be praetor soon. He’s had a rocky start, but maybe he’ll be one of the lucky ones. Retire a veteran and live a long life with Reyna in New Rome. Only that never happened. He has no idea where he is, there’s a girl holding his hand, and she’s cute but it feels wrong. They get attacked and people come in and call him a Greek demigod, familiar, yes, but still wrong. It doesn’t feel right. It doesn’t put things into perspective the way it does for Piper and Leo. He’s goes to a quest to rescue Hera, the name sounds wrong. He nearly dies but at least he remembers who he is. He spends the next 6 months trying to get back home, even though he isn’t too sure on where or what home is. He gets there, eventually, but it doesn’t stop there. He’s dragged on quests and battles and fights in the war but at least he survives it, he’s still there. Apollo needs help, he and Piper give him aid. He gets dumped. He doesn’t get to he a veteran in New Rome. Not with Reyna, not with Piper, not with anybody. He doesn’t get kids or grandkids. No, he gets shot down, another demigod buried.
You could be any one of them, really. Pick your poison, but I guarantee you won’t like any of them. Spending years trying to find a place where you belong, where you feel safe. Only for it to never come.
Percy, who, if you really look at the books, isn’t really all that well liked until he’s at least 2 years into camp. Only to then be sidelined because the courages, brave, fearless daughter of Zeus is back from the dead. Nico, the son of one of the most feared and hated gods. Who has death written all over him, who excludes it so much animals can smell it and humans can sense it, who’s been ostracized and pushed off to the side since he was 10. Hazel, who was treated like disease as soon as she stepped foot on camp soil. Who’s gone her whole life looked as something that’s cursed, that will only bring misfortune, a bad omen.
Shit positions, all of them.

Going through the Our Flag Means Death tag is a trip.
A good third of the posts are a detailed analysis of why Izzy's death was narratively good and meaningful and not 'bury your gays,' while another third are about how Izzy's death was pointless and cruel and a betrayal and absolutely 'bury your gays/disabled people.'

how would have Rhea raised Billy if Jeralt failed to take them from the monastery? Aside from actually giving a shit about them and not letting them starve on a semi regular basis I mean
See their enlightened one outfit?
They would have gotten tacky outfits in the same style from age 3 onwards, all "made" by the Archbishop herself.
More seriously, I think the plot would change?
Maybe Seteth wouldn't have been "summoned" at the Monastery, if Billy had been there, or he would and would have acted as Billy's caretaker ?
If Billy was raised by Rhea since day 5, I'm pretty sure they would have told her about the gremlin in their head, and that plot would have been solved way earlier, but as to what happens with Supreme Leader's war... idk.
I personally see Billy, in this verse, as someone raised like Sitri, maybe being a monk/random ward in the Monastery, but Billy likes to help people (and smiles at least in the jp!version!) so maybe they would have became some sort of kickass cleric, or a member of the knights of Seiros (Rhea'd disagree at first, she doesn't want them to be hurt and would have prefered if they became a fisherman or something that would keep them away from the battlefield, but Billy makes their own decisions, and wishes to protect the monastery and the people they cares about, maybe being triggered by another assassination attempt targetted at Rhea, maybe Christophe's or someone's else).
Billy'd be good friends with knighs and members of the CoS, maybe take Cyril under their wing (as much as they can) and have wednesday evening sessions of sitting with their "like" family eating Zanado fruits, or even fishing. When they want to become a knight or know how to use weapons "to protect", they could spare with Seteth'n'Rhea and end the "training" sessions with some of Rhea's cookies and Zanado fruit juice.
If Billy's still a teacher in this verse - well, I don't think the entire "crust + church BaD" spiel affects them, hell, they might be a bit more pissed at this entire nonsense and voice their annoyance, why are those nobles blaming the church for their own failings in ruling their lands?
(that's where Seteth has to remind them about this thing called "tongue in check")
Maybe they can decide to travel through Fodlan to make up for the regional branches' failings (but only after Rhea got from the gremlin the promise that Gremlin will keep Billy safe!) - when Supreme Leader comes crashing down with her army?
If Rhea survives, Billy hangs out in Faerghus, but if Rhea is caught, Billy leads a resistance force (like SS) - granted, in this AU, Sothis is around and less of a gremlin that in her canon appearances, so Rhea's freed from her Enbarr jail way earlier than in the game, the Agarthans are toasted and everything's well that ends well.
#anon#replies#fodlan AU#Billy stuff#lizard family time?#Rhea'd of course dote on them#Billy as a member of the CoS imo wouldn't have any of that crust bad shit or crust system#doubly so if they know the secret behind crusts#as for Jerry I guess Rhea would have had everyone who knew him if he really ditched the kid#swear to tell Billy Jerry was the former Captain of the Knights who died heroically holding off against dozens of 'foes' to protect GM#and the people living there - which will play a part in Billy's decision to become a knight too#sure sure it's a lie but it's better than to tell them the truth 'your dad abandoned you because you were not normal enough for him'#cue Billy wondering who is this captain jeralt leonie keeps on mentionning maybe someone who has a similar name ?#Billy teaching 'cousin' Flayn how to fish#cyril was so dumbfounded when Billy sat in front of them and remained silent for twelve entire minutes#before asking him if it's alright to call him 'brother' because otherwise it'd be too complicated#What happens with Sothis in this AU? Frankly idk#FE16#maybe the CoS would have started to look for Agarthans earlier? Or not#Rhea would have stopped being the Archbishop if the knew her mother refused to return and assume her role?#What if Sothis resurrects the dead Nabateans from their Relics selves what happens in Faerghus/Leicester?#will the secret about Nabateans be revealed earlier?#It's basically opening too many possibilities anon lol#what do you think would have happened?

y'all remember when i said maybe cyrillo dies?? i take it back. he's faking his death and retiring to some village by the sea bc i said so uvu
#and actually i think that would be a more fulfilling end to his story for both cyrillo and readers#bc his thing is that he pretty much is living to help others and doesn't give himself that same care#he doesn't neglect his health or anything but the dude never goes on vacation#he throws himself into war when he swore he'd never do that again but it's like!! someone's gotta help the free army!!#so i really like the idea that maybe there's a situation in which it /appears/ cyrillo died#but nah he lived and he retired and became a no one like he was before everything happened#and he's happy he's finally living for himself and taking advantage of his second chance at life /for himself/#for both cyrillo and rin i think a big character-defining trait of theirs is that despite what they've been through and will go through#they love life they love the world they're in they love people and so i think both of them are gonna have that choice#go rest or go back to work#and workaholic cyrillo chooses rest in the form of disappearing to a lil village#and rogue rin goes back to work bc she can't help it. she can't deny that people need her#and hers is a lil more serious bc sunna is like 'i don't gotta resurrect you again. you could die and be reborn anew'#but no rin loves her life despite everything. she's not ready to go yet#AAAHHH SORRY FOR THE RAMBLING I'M :' ))))))#i wanna try to write a lil more before bed so let me stop asdfg#headcanons | dórverold#headcanons | cyrillo#i don't wanna lose this just in case bc of the tags uvu

okay time for my daily "i stand with john gaius" post but tamsyn muir did not write a bisexual maori man who was a renowned scientist who had dedicated his life to saving the earth and exposing the schemes of the ultra-rich who was then made out to be a terrorist and global threat when his only goal was to help and who ultimately was brought down by his own character flaws and shortcomings while under immense pressure in a situation where everyone he ever loved was being executed in front of him and seconds before death did something he - to our knowledge - could barely control, just for the entire fanbase to go 'yeah he's like a cartoon villain. he's an irredeemably shitty person and everything he does is inherently evil and manipulative'
#myposts#tlt#im not saying he doesn't have bad character traits#like his clear problem to be seen in a bad light by anyone and the lengths he goes so people cannot judge and blame him#and his frankly a bit creepy tendency to rename people#but can i be so real? i think both of these are PERFECTLY explained by his backstory#i think he genuinely has a tendency to shift the blame away from him himself and thats tbh just how some people are#but. he also was made out to be like... the antichrist by people so i GET how that can increase your desire to be seen in a good light#and i think. of course its weird that he renames people but. he explains his philosophy behind it pretty well with titania and ulysses#like. you dont have to agree w him but if youd resurrect someone and they are very much not the same person they were when they died#would you really be comfortable calling them the same name?#i mean its a pretty philosophical question but i dont think theres a morally wrong answer to it#the fact that he had to rename his friends in the first place bc he altered their personalities so they think they aren't from earth?#now that is pretty fucked up#but first of all its also a bit sexy and second of all like. what do you say to your friends when you make them remember earth like....?#'im soooo sooorry guys i blew up palmet earth and almost all people on it? like#what would you do if this legitimately would have happened to you#also ill be real. the scene where hes like 'pyrrha was saying i was lying and that guys as careful as me don't have accidents like that'#about how he killed those cops#and then at the end of the chapter alecto is like 'did you ever find out what happened with your accident'#and hes like 'come on love. guys as careful as me dont have accidents'#like. when he breaks the entire facade of this super helpless guy whom everything bad ever just happens to on accident#i found that a bit hot. ok. that was very very very fucking sexy of him#the only thing i really cant defend abt him is the imperialism but to me this choice has something from the ending of hunger games you know#oh god i will make a separate post on that i didnt know there is a tag limit VHHDVDHDJDJJ

Listening to someone else watch the original ATLA again, just starting season 3, and there's this line where Aang suggests that it didn't just look like he died, but he DID actually die and Katara brought him back. And look, I don't know much about the lore introduced by TLOK, but this sounds like a really fun place to start an AU inspired by "Buffy the Vampire Slayer"'s take on the temporary death and resurrection of a cyclical chosen one: Aang is brought back to life and is STILL the Avatar, but his temporary death still also causes another Avatar to be born into the Southern Water Tribe (or Swamp People or refugees on some southern island, whatever).
Like, I know the Avatar is a reincarnation thing, but weird things can happen with spirits! Maybe this glitch in the cycle causes the spiritual equivalent of mitosis to happen to the Avatar and the spirit attached to them, so there's just two of them now! Maybe having two Avatars has some spiritual downsides, maybe not, it's up to whatever path you choose to explore in this AU.
I just think it would be really funny for post-canon 21yo Aang (and the Gaang and the White Lotus and all the spiritual / religious orders on the planet) to suddenly be confronted with a 10yo water tribe kid who is ALSO the Avatar.
A water tribe couple shuffle awkwardly up to Sokka, like, "Sooooo... we think our 10 year old daughter might be the Avatar...? She can, uh, bend all the elements and all that. Look at this shit." And Sokka is like, "Fuck, Aang is dead?!" Before he's like, "Wait, I saw Aang last week, this kid is way too old?!" And he has to hastily contact Aang like, "Hey, buddy, you're still alive, right?" And Aang can only reply, "Uhhh, last I checked, yes?!?!"
It's probably Sokka and Katara who put the pieces of the timeline together and figure out what caused this, because all of the other Avatars are probably initially like, "Yeah, I have no idea what's happening here. I'm you and you're me, but I'm also her and she's also me, and you and her are kind of the same person, but you're obviously different people now? Wow! Good luck figuring all that out, kid! You're really going places none of us have gone before! A real groundbreaker!"
Aang, through gritted teeth, "I am really not TRYING to do that, thank you!"
