During season 3, there’s a deleted scene (because I said so) of Max and El’s first spin-the-bottle spy attempt.
The bottle slows to a stop right on Steve's name, and the two girls giggle as El puts the blindfold on.
She finds him in his Scoops Ahoy outfits, and El giggles harder as she tells Max, "He's kissing some girl."
Max gasps, "Who is it?"
El starts walking closer, trying to see who it is, but their hair is covering their face. "Some girl with curly hair."
"Nancy?" Max whispers conspiratorily.
El shakes her head. "Her hair is short. This girl's hair is longer." She starts to turn red, feeling like she's been intruding for too long. She starts to reach up for her blindfold when the person pulls back and says, “Ahoy, Captain.”
Just as Steve groans in irritation, El yanks the blindfold off and freezes. Max shakes her and asks, “What? What happened?”
El pauses, thinking back to the time Mike had to explain why he was so angry when Troy called Will a fairy. She didn’t understand why people were upset about a boy loving another boy, but she understood that it wasn’t something people talked about. Just like she wasn’t allowed to use her powers, Will wasn’t allowed to openly like boys.
So, she just lets out a deep breath and reasons with herself that it isn’t a lie when she says, “They started using tongue.”
While Max shrieks with laughter, El smiles at her, trying not to think of the boy Steve was with.
-:-:-:-:-:-
(An added extra part that is WAY longer than intended. Oops. Coming back after editing to add JSKEHDISBEHSH)
The next year, the information seems to come in handy when Dustin urges El to see if his friend Eddie is still somehow alive in the upside down.
The others are all there, trying to describe what he looks like when Nancy and Jonathan volunteer to run to the school and grab his missing poster for a photo. But the descriptions paint a clear picture in El’s head of someone she’s seen before. Briefly. But she remembers.
Curly hair. Wears lots of rings. Big brown doe eyes and full lips - Steve’s very helpful description.
And El can’t help but turn to Steve and whisper, “Ahoy, Captain?
Steve’s eyes widen and his cheeks flush red. His mouth opens and closes asking, “How-? Why-? When-?”
“Is that him?” El asks firmly.
Steve only nods. Brushing off everyone who asks What does she mean? By telling them to be quiet while El puts on her blindfold.
She finds herself somewhere dark and cold, feeling the familiarity of the place as she seeks out Eddie. She walks around, calling out his name, getting more and more desperate as time goes by.
But she suddenly feels something watching her and quickly turns around, finding Eddie as pale as a ghost staring at her from the ground. She bends down and puts a hand on his face. “We’re coming for you, okay? We’re coming.”
Eddie tilts his head and asks, “Who?”
“Steve,” El automatically says, hoping it’s the right person to name.
The name seems to give Eddie a small bit of hope.
“And Dustin,” El adds. “Dustin’s coming for you.”
Eddie gives her a weak smile and mumbles, “I knew he’d miss me.”
El smiles at the joke. She hears the other people in the room begin to ask if he’s alive, to remind him that someone named Wayne is coming.
El squeezes his cold cheek, hoping some of her warmth will bleed through the connection. “Just hang on a little longer, okay? They say Wayne’s coming too.”
Eddie weakly smiles again and murmurs, “Wayne.” His eyes get heavy, and El shakes him. “Mmm awake,” Eddie slurs. El hears footsteps behind her and turns, not seeing anything, but as she turns back she finds Eddie disappearing.
She reaches out yelling, “No! No! Hold on!”
When he’s completely gone she yanks the blindfold off, weeping as someone pulls her into their chest. She doesn’t hear any of the questions around her as she says, “Run to him. Run!”
But finally, Mike gets through to her and asks, “Did you see Steve there?”
El wipes her eyes and asks, “What?”
“Did you see Steve there?” Mike repeats.
El glances around, noticing that Steve, Dustin, Lucas, and Robin are no longer there. “Where-“
“They went to him as soon as you said we’re coming for you. Did you see them there?” Will explains quickly.
El shakes her head. “There were footsteps but… Eddie vanished before I saw anyone.”
Mike looks far off and puts his head in his hands.
They’re too late.
A tense silence passes.
“This is a code green! I repeat this is a code green!” Dustin’s staticky voice rings through the walkie.
The three kids race toward it, Mike grabs it first asking, “He’s okay?”
“He’s alive,” Dustin says, sounding choked up. “He’s alive.”
El sighs in relief and rushes off to the door.
“Where are you going?” Will asks.
“The hospital, come on.”
The trip there is fast, but no one lets them see Eddie yet as he’s still in critical condition. But they all opt to wait as long as they need to get any updates.
El sees Steve eye her for a while before she moves to sit in the chair next to him. She waits for him to talk first.
“So… how did you… know?” Steve asks.
El flushes red and ducks her head. “Max and I were playing this game where we would spin a bottle and-”
“Okay, I know where this is going. Jesus, kid,” Steve mutters.
El glares at him. “We would spin a bottle and see who it landed on to spy on them.”
“Oh,” Steve says, pausing before he suddenly realizes, “You spied on me?”
“Yes,” El replies because friends don’t lie.
Steve flushes red and asks, “So, how much of me and Eddie did you see?”
El leans in to whisper, “You were kissing a lot.”
“Christ,” Steve says, before burying his head in his hands. He slowly looks up at her and asks, “Did you… tell anyone?”
“No.”
Steve sighs and leans back in his chair, staring off.
El can’t help but press on. “Did you love him?”
Steve stops breathing for a second as he considers the question. He turns to her slowly and says, “I did.”
“Did?”
Steve runs a hand over his face. “It’s complicated.”
El pauses and says, “Well, it looked like he really loved you too.” When Steve gives her a look, she adds, “And he looked happy when I said you were coming for him.”
A conflicted look crosses over Steve’s face. “Did he really?”
El nods. “Friends don’t lie.”
Steve smiles and huffs a small laugh. “That’s right.” He hesitates before slinging an arm around El’s shoulder and pulling her into his side as much as he can with the arm of chair being between them. He plants a kiss to her head and whispers, “I’ll give you a lecture later about the spying thing. But for now… thank you.”
El leans into the hug, staying until an older man walks into the room.
“Wayne!” Dustin yells and runs to wrap his arms around him.
El watches as Steve slowly stands up and offers his hand to Wayne when Dustin pulls away. Wayne looks at Steve for a moment before pulling him into a hug.
El wants to ask and know the whole story behind Steve and Eddie and this Wayne person. But she thinks it’s time to look away as Steve breaks down in Wayne’s arms and the older man’s bottom lip quivers. “I know, son. I know.”
-:-:-:-:-:-
They wait for a long time before there’s finally news.
They all collectively hold their breath as the doctor walks into the room. He look over at them all before announcing, “He’s stable.”
A wave of relief floods through the room, but El thinks there’s an added tension when they’re informed that he isn’t allowed visitors yet.
But Wayne follows the doctor out the door and has a very stern word with him before he’s reluctantly allowed to disappear down the hall.
A few minutes later, he comes back to the room and asks, “El?”
El sits up straighter. “Yes?”
“He’s asking for you.”
El glances at all her friends before she stands up and follows (who Dustin had told her is) Eddie’s uncle. As she gets to the room, she looks at all the tubes connected to Eddie’s body, and wonders how he even asked for her.
But as she gets closer to the bed, she sees Eddie’s eyes crack slightly open.
“Lean down so he can whisper to you,” Wayne advises.
El leans closer and hears Eddie says, “I know… how… to get… to Max.”
El leans back and grabs Eddie’s hand. “Show me.”
With that, she’s taken into a vision of horrors, of Eddie dying and coming back. His heart restarted by Vecna for some unknown reason. A vision of all the bodies tied to the tree but Max’s spot is empty. But there’s something there. Something that’s trapped in the empty vines. But just as she sees it, a clock strikes in the distance, and it all begins to disappear.
She gasps as she steps away from Eddie, catching her breath as Wayne asks what the hell is happening.
But she can only run out of the room, heading toward Max’s room knowing where she needs to go to find her and bring her back.

Eddie posting to Tiktok: So, I just got home and Steve’s not here which is fine but it is where I left him. So, I send him a text asking where he’s at and-
*Eddie makes his background a screenshot of their text conversation. Eddie texted ‘where are you?’ and Steve responded with that gif of Spike saying ‘out for a walk, bitch’*
Eddie: who taught this man about gifs? Do you have any idea how fucking funny this is going to be?

as much as i love my scrunkly eddie can we leave the classism out of it? saying he doesn't shower or take care of his hair or wash his clothes. he has the cleanest shoes and clothes and his hair always looks so well taken care of.

Idk if it sounds dumb or if anyone said it before buuuut:
What about a Steddie AU (probably modern day for homophobia reasons) based on something like Strictly Come Dancing or Dancing with the Stars or whatever it's called in your country. Basically a dancing show where famous people get paired with a pro dancer and have to learn a new dance every week etc etc.
Steve is the pro dancer, on the show since the first season, excellent at his job, loved by the viewers and pretty much everyone. Always patient with his assigned star, but can also be strict if they're an ass. There's been a few times times where people assumed he's having a thing with his dancing partner, because he's just having that much chemistry with some people. it's all rumors tho. he did have a thing with his fellow pro dancer Nancy but that's in the past (they're still friends and still dance together at competitions)
Eddie enters for shits and giggles at first not thinking he'd actually get chosen to be on the show with all his big badass metalhead attitude and his request to be dancing with another man. But he gets a call from his management and after a serious confirmation that 'yes I know what being on that show means and I really wanna do it!' he finds himself in a dancing studio a few weeks later. For the first show he and the other candidates get a randomly assigned partner and get started with an easy choreography and he finds himself actually enjoying the whole dancing part. (He doesn't get paired with Steve just yet but they get talking backstage)
After the first show they get paired together and that's when it really starts. The two of them instantly getting along, being equally snarky & goofy together but also serious. Steve has no trouble adjusting to dancing with a man instead, switching up the choreos so sometimes he's dancing the leading part and other times Eddie does. Eddie is a little uncoordinated at first, having no experience with dance besides a moshpit and jumping around on stage(and that hardly counts as dancing) but he's a quick learner.
The fans of the show love seeing the two of them dance together, Eddie loves pissing off the homophobes and Steve does too. Part of why they get along so good is because they bonded over being queer and everything that comes with it. Of course the rumors start once again because Eddie is a naturally flirty guy and Steve goes along with it. They get asked about it during the show and deny everything infront of the cameras. Not because they want to be secretive, but because they're idiots and literally didn't notice that they've pretty much fallen in love over the course of the last few weeks. They just chalked their entire chemistry and flirting up as part of their show.
In the end Eddie doesn't win the show (he's gotten quite good but he's not that good) but he does get a boyfriend and that's much better anyways.

Eddie Munson Headcanons - Late 20s Edition
Slightly nsfw here and there, just some things in my head that came up while plotting for fics and stuff
He may have moved into his own apartment, but he visits uncle Wayne at least three times a week to make sure that he's doing alright and eats properly (and because he misses him, but shh)
He’s really good with kids, and an excellent babysitter for his friends. He talks on eye level with them and with his imagination, he’s the best at telling stories. He can captivate a whole group of little kids with these stories. He’s the nice version of the Pied Piper, because children just flock to him - and of course he answers all their questions about his tattoos and his wild hair.
He wants kids himself, always has, he’s just too scared that he will end up like his own father (cue The Amazing Devil with “I will be the man my father never was”), but everybody tells him that he will be a great Dad, especially because he had uncle Wayne as a role model, who took care of a child that wasn’t even his own and showered him with love.
Eddie loves his job, no matter what he ends up doing. Of course, there will always be bad days, but that happens in every job. Still, he is happy at the end of the day, because he gets to do something that he loves.
Mechanic!Eddie comes home from work all greasy and more often than not ends up dragging you to the shower immediately before he gets the whole apartment dirty. This way, he just gets you dirty and gets to clean you up as well, taking his time with soaping you up, because he can’t get enough of touching your body.
Tattoo-Artist!Eddie loves spending time drawing his ideas on your body. Like a phoenix on your back, delicate flowers on your arm, but he especially enjoys drawing on your thighs, draping them over his own legs, and letting his hands travel where they don’t need to be in order for him to paint on you, but you don’t mind at all. It’s therapeutic, the ways he cherished your body.
Rockstar!Eddie misses you whenever he’s on tour, because you can’t come along most of the time. You give him a shirt of yours to take along, while he leaves his favourite sweater with you to wear at night, when you miss him most, especially during the cold months. (I have Hedley’s Sweater Song in my head all the time) At least these nights spent apart lead to both of you learning the joys of phone sex, only for Eddie to drive back after their last concert to get to you instead of waiting till the next day.
Record-Shop-Owner!Eddie (probably my fave) enjoys a few moments of silence once he gets home after being surrounded by music all day. He knows just the right album/single for everyone, and you’ll catch him singing along all the time. The shop is neatly organised so that he finds whatever he’s looking for immediately, and over the time, he’s collected a lot of polaroids with the people he loves and musicians as well that, and these photos are all over the wall behind the counter.
Eddie loves teaching kids to play the guitar (whether it’s in his free time or he makes it a part time job). These kids are just so eager to learn, and Eddie is extremely patient with them, because he would never stop someone from learning something new. He’d the encouragement they sometimes need, when they do not get that from their parents.
Whenever he sees you after you’ve spent some days apart, he’ll hug you close and not let you go for at least five minutes, burying his nose in the crook of your neck, breathing you in, mapping your body with his hands as if he might have forgotten what you feel like - which is ridiculous, because he could never forget, but he always likes to remind himself of how perfect you feel beneath his fingers.
He’s insecure about his scars at first, and that insecurity bubbles up all the time, but you always manage to take that insecurity away, when you use his own words. He always tells you that your scars are just telling the story of your life, that they are a part of you. That your stretch marks are tiger stripes, proof of how strong you really are. So you tell him that, that his scars are a part of him just like his tattoos, that they show what he’s overcome, and as soon as you kiss them, Eddie doesn’t care about them anymore, he only cares about you.
He whispers the most inappropriate things in your ear whenever you’re around your friends, because he knows how much that riles you up, and that you’ll pretty much jump into his arms the moment you’re alone. He knows just how to push your buttons, but so do you.
Eddie loves learning how to cook from you, and in his late twenties, he’s become quite a good cook, so that he surprises you with a home cooked meal when he has a day off work. It doesn’t always work out in his favour, and sometimes, he still burns this or that, but you still love the effort he puts in, because he puts so much love in everything he does for you.
He enjoys it even more when you cook together, all the domestic little things, because it brings you closer together. Arguing over which colour to paint the wall - because black wasn’t an option, but you let him talk you into getting a dark blue kitchen - or which sofa to get for the living room, but in the end, most of these decisions were easy.
Eddie is someone who tried to fix everything himself at first. Leaky faucet? He’ll try his best. The lamp keeps flickering (and no, not because of Vecna or some other creepy shit), he’ll check it out. He wants to do all of this himself, and he’ll pout when you call someone to fix it, because he couldn’t or would have probably electrocuted himself. But you always make it up to him and quickly take his mind off things.
Eddie doesn’t mind using toys in the bedroom. He’s not one of those people who get intimidated because you have a vibrator or anything, no, he’s actually quite interested in everything. Apart from the “show me how you do it” part, and loving to watch you, he also loves to use them on you himself, use them while you two are having fun, because he knows that these toys are not his enemies, they are his friends.

Okay, I’ve had this idea for a while, and I really wish I had the time to write a fic about it but I DON’T. So I’m gonna dump it here and yeah, if anyone feels like writing it, send me a message or ask or something.
(Also, this involves a Billy Hargrove redemption arc and I know the character can be really controversial/triggering, so uh, fair warning on that okay?)
So, yeah, Billy surprisingly survives getting tentacle stabbed in the chest and after a short stay in the hospital is discharged to go home. Thing is, Billy doesn’t feel safe at home, and if everyone’s being honest, Neil's probably gonna be relieved to have him out of his house. As he’s brainstorming somewhere to stay, Steve motherfucking Harrington pops up in his hospital room and offers the guest room in his own home, stating that “he talked to Max about it and they figured it was the best option”. And fuck, Billy really wants to refuse but he’s also in no position to reject help, so he swallows his pride and agrees.
The next few weeks pass by in bickering, yelling and reluctant acceptance. Billy makes a full recover from his wounds, and occupied the Harrington garage with working out gear and matted floors. The Byers move away, and the kids spend an increasing amount of time in the house with the both of them. Billy takes to watching the kids and Harrington for entertainment.
He notices Dustin, his annoying bright smile clearly Harrington’s favorite, Max, who finds in Harrington the tenderness and comfort Billy has never been capable of providing, Lucas, who sees a mentor, an idol, something to strive for as both of them spend hours under the boiling sun, dribbling a basketball in the backyard. Then, he notices little Wheeler, full of anger, alone, never seeming to fully fit in in their dynamic.
And fuck if that doesn’t hit Billy a little too close to home. Looking at Mike in those moments can almost make him forget about how much of a little shit Wheeler is. But Billy is no nanny McPhee, not like Harrington is, he’s not entirely sure on how to approach the kid.
But then a fight breaks out one day. Not a fistfight, the kids are too soft for that, but it leaves Dustin red faced, Lucas gritting his teeth, Max clenching her fists and Mike walking away, hissing like an angry cat, and suddenly, Billy lets out an “I got it”, avoiding Harrington’s confused, cautious stare, and goes after the kid.
Mike’s not easy to deal with, he spits a particular brand of poison that Billy knows someone only develops by being raised in a specific type of household, and snaps like a cornered animal, and Billy gets it, he understands what is like to be so angry that the air itself tastes like rage, heck, he feels like that most days. So, without thinking about it, he corners Mike and throws the first punch.
It’s more of a tap, really, he doesn’t want to bruise the kid too much. But then they are rolling on the floor, punching and snarling like wild animals. The kid hits hard, but focuses on the chest, shoulders, so Billy knows he doesn’t mean to hurt him. They continue at it for a while, before collapsing on the ground, panting, bruised messes. “Feel better?” Billy asks and Mike responds with a surprised “Yeah”, and Billy helps him up, pats his head like he would a large dog’s.
From then on it evolves naturally. Wheeler and him are made from the same stuff. They get each other, frustrated, with rage bubbling beneath their skin, and oh so painfully repressed. It’s easy in a way it never has been to tuck little Wheeler under his arm and drag him away for messes. To curl his long, frail looking fingers in a proper fist and coaching him into attacking his punching bag.
Suddenly, after a difficult conversation with Lucas and Max, followed by a hard, but sincere apology, Billy enters the pick up rotation, and Mike always rides shotgun. Suddenly, Billy’s chasing the kid around in the backyard, wrestling and screaming and getting him into shape because “fuck you Hargrove, I’m not joining a sports team” suddenly he’s teaching the kid how to fight dirty, because between the bullies, government agents and the quarry incident (that was told to him while he wiped the blood off the kid’s bruised nose) every fight is life or death and Billy’s telling him to “bite, tear off a chunk of flesh, go for the eyes or the crotch, it doesn’t need to look pretty, it needs to *work*”. He’s sharing the kid’s first drink with him, laughing as he sputters at the bitter taste. Billy’s taking care of his first hangover and teaching him how to do so in the future because Wheeler’s a goody two shoes and is probably gonna be the sober friend, but either way, Billy’s teaching him how to drink because there’s no way in hell his kid’s making a fool of himself once high school parties start.
Billy, who cusses out Mike when he learns that Mike flat irons his hair because “fuck you Wheeler, I had to perm mine”, and spends a night away teaching him how to wash and scrunch his curls back into existence. Billy, who bullies him into sending Will Byers his letters, that spent weeks rotting in a box under his bed. Billy, who works out while Mike writes, tucked in a corner in the garage. Billy, who kicks him in the sheens but then hugs him in barely contained worry when he does something stupid, who helps him get a part time job with Max so he can afford a ticket to California, who takes Mike to the Quarry and screams on the top of his lungs with him, letting out weeks of pent up rage, who picks him up at the police station when he’s accused of arson (a certain Ted Wheeler’s vacation boat that spends most of its months tucked away in a storage container) and gives him an alibi, only to pat Mike in the head in that way Mike has learned meant affection and congratulates him once they’re out of sight.
They’re not nice, not like Steve and the other kids are with each other. There’s too much teeth and sharp bone in them to do so. But they’re good, and fuck if it doesn’t feel cathartic to Billy to be able to fully care for, nurture, someone in the ways that he knows how and not be pushed away for it. To be able to ask Mike where he’s going, with who, at what time, why, with what clothes, in a way that had made every other person in his life cower away in discomfort only for little Wheeler to preen a little under the attention, never feeling suffocated.
He ends up working at the local gym, giving boxing lessons. Mike goes to school, befriends Eddie Munson, who Billy keeps a sharp eye on. Months pass. Billy drives Mike to the airport and gives him one last pat on the head when he goes to California.
He’ll never admit it, but remembering the little shit, among Harrington and his mom and his sister, is what gives him the strength to run when Vecna comes for him.

I will give you Nikita & Layton but Angela Scanlon's jive was the second best dance of the night imo and was definitely undermarked. She did get a little unbalanced and twisted at the end but it was the very very end and the rest was phenomenal (and she looked absolutely incredible)

One acting choice that Ryan definitely makes that I've noticed is when Eddie doesn't know what to say in the face of something (like after Christopher breaks the bowl in 4x08 below) and it's something that's expected to have tension/has tension, he tends to cover his mouth with his fingers, rubbing back and forth:

*I will now be scouring seasons 2-6x06 for this to see where else it pops up or if it was all strictly related to Ana and Eddie's relationship with her*

...I just realized how insane it is that this fandom has, for the past couple of weeks, accusing anyone who had an issue with the way Buck/Tommy was executed of only having a problem because they want Eddie to be the only man Buck has ever been with (literally WHO even said that??) as though for the past 4 years or so they haven't been erasing Shannon, Eddie's actual WIFE who he knew since he was FOURTEEN because they want Buck to be the only person Eddie has ever loved. I mean...

They need Eddie to be gay just for him to have never loved anyone who's not Buck because how dare Eddie not sit on his ass and wait for Buck for 30 years while Buck goes around the world doing what he wants and dating other people.
