My favourite character from Carmen Sandiego (2019) that gets absolutely zero screen time is the pilot that flies their private jet. The unspoken hero of the franchise. The 6th member of Team Red who hates all of them but is still part of their squad as a technicality. Yeah it could’ve been a bunch of different pilots but it’s way funnier to imagine that it’s just one guy who is being held hostage by these four socially stunted teenagers who (somehow) have more money than god and don’t stay in a country any longer than a week. They are SO jetlagged. Please save them

Sometimes a family is a skilled super thief, her grumpy mentor, these two siblings she met in Boston and a white hat hacker!

bc i love this fucking show and they're so silly. it's like shadowsan taking care of 4 children (theyre all grown ups) and its so funny. I don't think there's a picture of the 5 of them together since player usually talks through his phone without leaving his house so i had to look up the pngs and make one myself with their canon heights.

Aurinko Crime Family:

Queer! Space! Pirates!! It's kinda your typical "it started as a heist but along the way we became family" story, but in space. And not a single person is cishet. An ex private investigator and sharpshooter with only one eye, his very cool and smart hacker assistant and ex lover thief who he ran away from, because he has problems basically get adopted by a cool crimeboss lady with a metal stomach, her wife, who is a doctor and also generally pro stabbing people, and a big dude, who gives great, but often cryptic advice. Oh, also a car that isn't a car. All of their dynamics are awesome. Buddy definitely has mom vibes. Juno and Vespa definitely have a sibling dynamic. The movie nights. Aaaaaaaahhh!

Mmm concept that at some point in trying to get Devineax to see things from her perspective, Julia describes Carmen not unlike a stray cat. Explaining that the more he chases her, grabs at her and tries to collar her, the faster she will run.

But if he just sits nearby, leaves out something good, takes affection when offered and then critically; lets her go, then Carmen will always come. Showing up on balconies, in living rooms and in passenger seats.

Anyway, Devineax has a chance encounter with Brainwashed!Carmen they banter, he gives her snacks, tricks her into talking about geography a bit and then lets her go.

Then a confused, scared but back-to-normal Carmen appears on his balcony, meekly asking if she'd hurt anyone.

First: I haven't forgotten what I mentioned about Red Crackle Week 2024. It's still standing and I need to be clear about some points.

Second: Would you like to do a kind of "Carmen Sandiego Fifth Anniversary" event? because of its fifth anniversary in January (It premiered on January 18, 2019 and ended on January 15, 2021) My idea is that from January 15 to 18 Content is uploaded in order to celebrate the series that marked us. It can be anything: Fanarts, Fanfics, Cosplay, edits, and it can be about characters, ships, whatever, showing gratitude and happiness for the existence of the series itself.

The fact that 99% of the people I know call Carmen Sandiego (2019) a “baby show” is fucking INSANE.

Like, who DOESN’T love a show about a lesbian international super thief as she travels the world targeting the evil shadow-corporation that where literally her ex-“legal” guardians/a school made to gaslight young adults/older teens into being fucking criminals? Not to mention it actually teaches some pretty cool facts. Plus the ART? The PLOT? The fucking PLOT-TWISTS!? Not to mention the relationships and characters are just fucking phenomenal.

To me, Carmen Sandiego will ALWAYS be #1

I love that Carmen, a strong, independent, and capable woman who saves so many people through what she does, is allowed to be saved herself by others in the narrative. She is human too, and worthy of being loved and cared for.

And the whump that comes out of it is fantastic.

I noticed in your video “Carmen Sandiego being done with everyone for around 11 mintues” when you were analyzing the scene of the Dubai caper of everyone fighting, you mentioned Ivy’s hope, Zack’s black and white view, and Carmen’s guilt. I was hoping you could explain more into that? I’m genuinely curious :)

Throughout the Dubai caper, it’s interesting to see how everyone in team red reacts to Zack and Ivy’s arrest.

Carmen is furious, and i suspect it comes from her own fears and the pressure she is experiencing. She is terrified of Zack and Ivy being hurt. She is terrified of VILE getting away with their crimes in any capacity. She is feeling pressure from Shadowsan to be more professional.

Ivy and Zack feel guilty, Zack understandably so. Zack jeopardized the mission with his reckless actions. Ivy, i believe, feels guilty because she believes zack is her responsibility, since she had to take care of him on her own before meeting carmen.

Then, after Carmen shouted at the boston bois in the parking lot, we see how these three react.

Zack's view of the situation is very black and white. He seems to think that Carmen really hates them now- I wonder if this is due to a past with Zack and Ivy’s parents.

Ivy feels guilty, but hopeful. She is constantly reassuring Zack that Carmen doesnt hate them, taking care of Zack like she always has. again, may be due to their parents.

Carmen feels guilty for yelling at them, and she expresses so to player. (god, i wish we were able to see his perspective much more. i headcanon that he’s the one who arranged a ride home for zack and ivy from the jail. poor dud doesnt deserve being stuck in the middle like this.) though i wish she expressed it even more so, and apologized to zack and ivy properly. I headcanon she that she tries to make it up to zack and ivy by pretending she’s completely fine with them taking sterling’s deal. of course, shes kinda dying on the inside, but then FOUND FAMILY PREVAILS

someone should write a carmen sandiego fic where everything takes place as normal except for the fact that carmens mom is a part of team red from the start.

imagine her scolding carmen for her lack of self-preservation during missions because she doesn't want to lose her daughter again. her never making fun of, in fact actively encouraging, zack's hunger because it just means she gets to cook more and he always gushes about how good her food is. her listening to ivy talk about a new upgrade for red drone she's been wanting to install despite her not understanding anything the red head says. her making sure player is taking care of themself and assuring them that the world isn't going to end if they take a break, because they're just a kid. they're all just kids that need a team mother figure. she doesn't get her own orphanage like she does in the actual series, but who needs an orphanage when you've got dumbass globetrotter children right here?

her being awkward co-parents with shadowsan because while yeah, he didn't actually kill her husband, he was originally the one sent to get a hit on him and the one who burnt his house down + the one who brought her daughter to an island of isolated criminals. she understands he's changrd but she's still... iffy, around him.

i would write this fic myself if i had the time, skills and motivation. unfortunately i have none of them.
