NEW BATTLE!
THE LAST PERSON YOU WANTED TO SEE ON A BATTLEFEILD
ARES (GOD OF WAR) VS PARADOX
Paradox info
Height:10 foot 8 (repressed form) 20 foot 7 (Apocalypse form) 60,000 foot (True/draconic form)
Weight:980lbs, 1859lbs, 700 tons.
Weapons:Worldrender(a large chainsword which is capable of channeling magic) True Celestia (Bow that was made by Apollo and Artimes. Can shoot invisible arrows of sunlight or moonlight. One burns one freezes.) Magic, Bare hands, various revolvers.attacks. Anti-Magic, Life-force
Strengths:Godly strength (could match Shiva in a fight and he's apparently strong enough to destroy and recreate the world whenever he wants. Once punched out a demon that took the Eye of Isis to defeat the second time. Has knocked out both Gaoru and Deku in on hit. Threw Naruko in her Kurama form hard enough she landed onto the moon.) Godly durability (has survived the moon falling on him and got hit with Thor's hammer hard enough that Thor was sure he'd break the hammer. Thor is stated to be strong enough to destroy worlds with his hammer. He only died in his first life from a magic acid that could harm gods. According to his sister every God of storms or thunder has hit him at least 5 times with lighting as he likes mocking them. Has been hit with magic strong enough to kill the other Einherjars. No selled two isekai heros who claimed they had the powers of the Shadow and Light weavers.) FTL speed (Can outspeed Deku and can deflect along with dodging Apollo's arrows. These arrows are invisible and are fast enough to hit the gods of Mai's pantheon and even were fast enough to overwhelm garou for a short period of time said fighter can fight and outspeed Platinum Sperm) being the strongest and youngest of the 'Blessed 100' he can use any Anti-Magic or magic attack he can see and remember without a grimore but his body and third eye are connected to 'The Cube' which is his grimore allowing him to use any attack he can remember thanks to anti magic he has some psychic power and Chi manipulation can infuse both into magic to make them stronger. Suprising intelligence (his father states he's a 'Adaptive Genius like his mother.' Is a master in all things Magic.) Due to his longer lifespan the multi purpose communicator and his planets day length he's got more battle experience then most (Despite being 50 in the reboot timeline the 90 hour long days means he's at least 200 he also has spent longer in Valhalla as he died in 2989 and Ragnarok being once a millenia means he lived to 3000 with his time line in the after life and Goll says his hair grew put indicating he trained while in the afterlife. [Brunhilde stats human souls who train long enough in the ways of combat in the afterlife age. (Kaito went from looking 25 to looking 90 garou was 18 when he died but aged to 45 and Bun/Deku went from 18 to 25)] thanks to Bun taking quirks he gave Paradox the quirk 'Toho' which gives him scales a thicker tail with spikes and the ability to photosynthe nutrients to keep his stamina up. Godly stamina (stays up for a week at a time from a good night's sleep and it's his planet's week) has a healing factor that regenerates everything even his soul as long as he isn't atomized. As the great-grandson of a storm and sea god along with a volcanos goddess he can manipulate the weather at will.
Weaknesses:As a dark blue dragon, he has no resistance to lighting and is weak to holy/Godly weapons and magic. He is rather reckless due to his healing factor. Gods of Destruction and Death can and will nullify his healing factor and leave permanent scars. Rather lazy and laid back and will avoid a fight if he dosent deem it worth anyone's time. While immune to almost all mortal weapons as a demigod he is still capable of being hurt by magic weapons anything with an enchantment or weapons made in heaven or hell.
Ares info
Height: 6 foot 8
Weight: 440lbs
Weapons: Bare Hands, Pyrokinesis, Back Spikes, Greatsword
Strengths: Was one of the most powerful of Zeus’s children before his betrayal of Olympus, Godlike strength (As the God of War Ares was arguably physically the most powerful of the Greek Gods, Was stronger than Atlas who held up the world, Overpowered Kratos with ease until he opened Pandora’s box), Godlike durability (Is utterly impervious to mortal Weaponry, Survived the war against the Titans unharmed, Tanked numerous blows from Kratos even after he had unlocked Pandora’s Box), Massively hypersonic speeds/FTL reactions (Was one of the fastest of the Greek Gods, Was stated to be faster than the Primordials), Can manifest Weapons at will (His favoured being a flaming Greatsword), Possesses Pyrokinesis, Can bestow mortals with power and remove it at will, Was able to sense Kratos acquiring Pandora’s Box from several miles away, Can project his image threw Flames, Can create his own pocket dimensions, Can increase and decrease his size at will, Has several thousand years of experience.
Weaknesses: As a Greek God Ares suffers a weakness to the Blade of Olympus and the power contained within Pandora’s Box, Whilst he is invulnerable to the likes of mortals Ares can be killed by fellow Gods or those with Godlike power, Was killed by Kratos when he was arguably at his weakest.

MLP Villain Timeline- Pony of Shadows (Main Stygian)
Tumblr media
1. Stygian the Unicorn
Stygian was a unicorn who was a scholar who liked to study. He wasn’t magically exceptional nor he was a hero. He lived around the time the Celestia and Luna were teenagers meaning beyond over 1,000 years ago. He mainly liked to study mythical sea creatures. One day he went to the beach to collect sea shells to study but on that day he had an interesting encounter…
Tumblr media
2. Stygian and The Sirens
During his findings, he came face to face with The Dazzlings. He was in awe of Adagio and her sisters at first but then Adagio slipped and mentioned how she and her sisters wanted to be empowered by the surface world and spread their negative magic. He managed to get away from them and try to look in his books on how to stop the sirens, but he was too late and his town except for him ended up getting under the sirens spell which caused him to set off on a journey to find a group of Equestrian heroes.
Tumblr media
3. Assembling a Team
With his village under attack by The Sirens, Stygian set out to find the Equestrian heroes of legend starting with finding Rockhoof, and then finding the others: Mage Meadowbrook, Flash Magnus, Mistmane, Sonambula, and StarSwirl. Meaning that Stygian was responsible for bringing these heroes together to fight the Sirens.
Tumblr media
4. Stygian’s Internal Feelings
Despite, Stygian bringing the group together he feels like he’s nothing special compared to the others Pillars who have done other brave and heavy feats that normal ponies wouldn’t be able to. When it came to the battle against the Sirens, Stygian stood on the sidelines and watched the others banish the sirens to another world. Since that day Stygian felt inadequate and wanted to change that so he could fight alongside his friends.
Tumblr media
5. Stygian vs. StarSwirl: A Battle of Ideals
In the 2018 comic annual, Stygian along with the other Pillars have to rescue Celestia and Luna after they get captured by dark forces through a mirror into a alternate dark dimension of Equestria due to Starswirl showing the girls about different portals to other places. Out of the other’s Stygian is mainly against Starswirl for his decision to show the girls the mirrors, which put them in danger. He notes to Rockhoof that after the Pillars are gone, the princesses would only write about StarSwirl’s exploits without the other Pillars hardly get mentioned in Equestria’s history. But despite him being vital in saving the princesses, he still had those thoughts in the back of his mind.
Tumblr media
6. The Stolen Artifacts
Months after the Siren defeat and the princesses being saved, Stygian never lost sight of his quest into finding ways to be as strong as the pillars so that he can fight alongside them and after months he finally figured it out. It was a ritual where he needed a symbol of strength from each of the Pillars: Starswirl’s Journal of Sorcery, Rockhoof’s Shovel of Strength, Mistmane’s Flower of Beauty, Meadowbrook’s Mask of Healing, Flash Magnus’s Shield of Bravery, and Sonambula’s Blindfold of Hope. Stygian stole the items for his spell in hopes that he could make copies of the artifacts but he was shunned and cast out from the group.
Tumblr media
7. The Rise of The Pony of Shadows
After Stygian was cast out from the Pillars, he wandered Equestria until he came across the Well of Shade and discovered an apparent entity known as “The Darkness or The Shadow” which spoke to Stygian of a power beyond that would make him stronger than his “friends” and he accepted. He merged with “the shadow” and they became one and Stygian was turned into The Pony of Shadows. With his new dark powers he went to claim vengeance on his former friends.
Tumblr media
8. The Pony of Shadow’s Initial Defeat/1,000 Year Return
Despite being a formidable force, StarSwirl had a plan to banish the Pony of Shadows, by the Pillars using their symbolic items to magically seal him away in limbo but themselves along with it. Unfortunately, 1,000 years later Twilight, Sunburst, the Mane 5 and Starlight free the Pillars and unintentionally also free the Pony of Shadows.
Tumblr media
9. The Pony of Shadow’s Defeat/Stygian’s Return
Despite the Pony of Shadows being free, he was weakened from limbo, so he had to find places of darkness in order to get stronger but due to Equestria being more modernized, he only had one place to draw power from which was the Well of Shade. Despite that he was pushed back into a portal by the Elements and other Pillar’s items and Twilight was about to push him in when she saw Stygian inside of the “the Shadow” and instead she decided to hear his side of the story. There was a lack of communication between Stygian and the Pillars and Stygian went behind their backs to steal instead of just talking to them about his feelings and the Pillars were at fault for not letting him explain instead of shunning and casting him out. StarSwirl realizes he and the others were wrong, and the group frees Stygian while banishing “The Shadow” into a portal. The Shadow was no more while Stygian was free and reunited with his friends.

Who is that mysterious voice? 3.6 Trailer Theory!
3.6 is right around the corner! The Livestream today promised Nahida's Story Quest Part 2 and a New Area linked to Khaenri'ah! This post will be breaking down the lines in the trailer to try and figure out who is talking and what they are talking about. Please follow for more theories like this!
Tumblr media
"I come from an ancient race. We have existed for a very long time. Possibly longer than any records in existence." -Fem voice through a recording filter.
"The history of Dragons Dates back to the very beginning of Tevyat." - Nahida
"D-dragon King?!" - Paimon
'We were victims of the Apocalypse but we also became the Apocalypse itself." -Fem voice recording continued
The way these dialogue lines are ordered we are meant to see the recorded voice as being a Dragon. Back before the Archons, Celstia, and even the Primordial one (credited with creating humanity) the Dragons and Vishaps were to soul inhabitants of Teyvat. There were Seven Sovereigns, the strongest of the dragons each channeling one of the 7 elements like the Archons do now.
The Primordial One was formed and overthrew the Dragons forcing them to flee into the Vishap Realm or Light realm at this time the Abyss or Dark realm was also created. Two realms separate from Teyvat itself.
The reason a Dragon from this time would be from before records is because a being called "The Second Who Came" challenged the Primordial One. The victor of this war wiped all history from before the war including the ruling of the dragons.
But I believe this is a misdirect. This is our Dragon King
Tumblr media
"Both of you have only existed for a fraction of what you know as time, yet you call yourselves lords of this land by leaning on heaven's glow." - different unknown voice
"Is there anyway to avoid fighting them?" - Nahida
Tumblr media
The new Dendro Dragon is the Dragon King we will be fighting. Nahida's VA in the livestream goes on to describe it as corrupted and sick. Explaining why Nahida is hesitant to fight them.
This Dragon King is most likely from that ancient time before the Archons were created and that is why they call Nahida and the Traveler young.
Tumblr media
So who is speaking at the beginning then? The way I see it there are 2 options or the 2 options are the same person.
Option 1 survivor/recording from Khaenri'ah
Tumblr media
The new area revealed in the livestream is said to be one of the main battlegrounds of khaenri'ah vs celestia. Like I said the voice has a recording filter on it. What ancient civilization had recording technology? Khaenri'ah. What is shown while the voice speaks? The inside of a Ruin Golem. Specifically a zoom in on a static monitor screen.
"We were victims of the Apocalypse but we also became the Apocalypse itself."
This line cements it for me. Celestia used Abyssal energy as the curse they placed on Khaenri'ah. The Abyss/Apocalypse was tossed upon the citizens of Khaenri'ah. They became corrupted by the Abyss and are now the Apocalypse for current day humans.
But there's a hole in this option
"I come from an ancient race. We have existed for a very long time. Possibly longer than any records in existence."
When you look at the history of Teyvat Khaenri'ah isn't that old. Enkanomiya and the nation from Dragonspine are older. The Royal "WE" here can't be Khaenri'ans and it can't be humans in general. As mentioned above Dragons and vishaps lived on this world long before humans were created.
So I have an Option 2 a Seelie
Tumblr media
The Seelie race like Enkanomiya and Dragons dates back to before the history wipe caused by the "Second Who Came". That is when Seelie were at their strongest. When they built large palaces and had larger, humanoid forms. But the Seelie civilization fell during the fighting and the Seelie were weakened to the forms we see today.
Tumblr media
A red Seelie will be our Guide in this new area. We just spent the last world expansion with a Jinn that had survived the degradation of her race. Why not a Seelie next?
The Seelie Race is certainly ancient and most likely existed before records of the world were being recording in Irminsol. If you're older than the tree you're older than recorded history. The Seelie Race did fall in what can be considered an Apocalypse since it completely destroyed their civilization.
The only Hole is the "becoming the Apocalypse" line. Seelie are just harmless guides now not bringers of the Apocalypse.
That's why I think it might be both? A seelie the survived the fall of the Seelie civilization only to witness the fall of Khaenri'ah. The Red Seelie mentioned above? It's going to be our guide in the new area said to be the battleground between Khaenri'ah and Celestia. Yes Seelie's guide travelers to treasure but why does this seelie know how to guide us through these ruins?
Tumblr media
Who knows what we'll find buried beneath these sands? Guess we'll have to wait until 3.6 to find out! But what did you think of my theory? Who do you think the first voice is?

Vestiges Of Hope
Tumblr media
Akamatsu Kaede is a sweet, kind girl who was parented by the infamous princess Sonia Nevermind and the cruel breeder, Gundham Tanaka. As heiress to the Novoselic throne, she leads the group with pride and does her very best to be a ray of sunshine, even in the wasteland she's forced to carry out her missions in. Always making the best of things, she's as proud as a proud leader can be.
Amami Rantaro is a soft-hearted, chill young man who often serves as a caretaker and soother to his fellow Vestiges Of Hope, offering a comforting shoulder to cry on and expired food to snack on. He prefers to take a more backseat approach, but is a true survivalist, knowing exactly how to ration food and supplies to keep everyone's hunger and pain at bay... for now.
Chabashira Tenko is the product of Sakura Ogami's and Kenshiro Kasumi's relationship, even before they became Remnants. She was repeatedly tossed and left to be molested by the men of the group, who could more often than not overpower her due to her youth. They claimed they did this out of love to give her despair, although this actually gave Tenko an irrational fear and hatred of males as a whole, and a special attachment to a certain red magician...
Gokuhara Gonta is someone who was basically raised by his parents' hounds. Nekomaru Nidai and Akane Owari were often too preoccupied with fighting the Future Foundation, and instead locked Gonta in a cage with dogs, who he began to consider family. However, due to this, his language skills were very stunted and he began to express how he feels in a more animalistic way than his peers, often lacking the words to express how he feels. He knowledge of entomology allows him to assess which insects are poisonous and would make good weapons against the Remnants Of Despair... if he can bear to give them up, that is...
Harukawa Maki was the product of a despairing affair between Celestia Ludenberg and Hifumi Yamada, whose dynamics on servant/master had very much switched after their Remnantification. When Maki was born, she was the subject of both her mother's forced starvation and her father's perversion, resenting them beyond belief. Upon her escape, she takes on the title "The Dark Shadow" to avoid her parents figuring out who she is before the confrontation that will end Hope vs Despair.
Hoshi Ryoma is a boy who was born to Hiyoko Saionji and Teruteru Hanamura as a means to cement their despair. Having grown up belittled and beaten by Saionji and burned and fileted by Hanamura, he lost faith in himself but became a Vestige Of Hope purely to aid his best friend, Tojo Kirumi, in hopes of bringing the people who forced her to be their slave to justice finally. He's also the only one who seems to sympathize and understand that those aren't their parents, but brainwashed shells of the outstanding human being they used to be.
Idabashi Kiibo is the product of Kazuichi Souda's obsession with Princess Sonia Nevermind, built to have blonde hair and blue eyes. Due to the hair being synthetic, as well as the skin, neither color matched, and the eyes were the wrong shade from Sonia's. However, the closest person to being the Ultimate Robot's other parent is Chihiro Fujisaki, who assisted in programming him. He was initially programmed to be a sort of "assistant" to the Remnants, assisting in the torture and mutilation of his future friends and as an overall "caretaker" to them. Eventually, he grew sentient, and helped the Vestiges escape, joining their cause. He has occasionally been referred to by the pseudonym "Savior" for this reason.
Iruma Miu is the child of Toko Fukawa and Byakuya Togami. Always witnessing her father berating and beating her mother, who was used as a fighting dog, she was left alone a lot. As such, she grew to tinker with things until she could make miraculous inventions in order to entertain herself. This led the Remnants to desire to use her and her talent for their purposes, causing Miu to immediately search for an escape. That's how she joined the Vestiges, aiding in their escapades with her gadgets and cracking witty quips and puns all as she does.
Momota Kaito was born to Kyoko Kirigiri and Kiyotaka Ishimaru as a means of being the subject of his parents' despair, neither one being with the person they loved to make this child. Rather, Kaito grew up constantly abused and disfigured by his mother and forced into a martyr-esque mindset by his father, learning to always find hope and stand against the two in secret. With aspirations to soar the heavens, he uses his knowledge of machinery and aircrafts to work alongside Miu in taking down the Remnnants.
Ouma Kokichi is the product of Mikan Tsumiki and Nagito Komaeda. He was conceived using the owner of Junko's ovaries and the person who was so strongly invested in hope, hence why he was the one chosen to be raised as Junko Enoshima's heir. He was tortured the most heavily to introduce him to despair: beaten, raped, mutilated, and the like, oftentimes by unwilling men and women who his parents had captured. Due to this, he possesses the greatest hatred for Junko Enoshima, and the Remnants. As a Vestige, he normally works to convert supporters of the Remnants who hadn't been brainwashed over to their side, developing quite a skill in manipulation and people work.
Saihara Shuichi is a young man who was born to parents Makoto Naegi and Mukuro Ikusaba, who was brainwashed by her sister. He was often forced to endure harsh military tortures, as well as the nearly fatal drawbacks of his father's luck, which had fell back on him after his father's Remnantification. Although Junko allowed her sister to keep the man of her dreams, it wasn't without cruelty, forcing them to put their own child through horrendous suffering. One of the only ones who holds no resentment toward his parents, instead only for Junko, the group often refrains from trusting him with vital information upon their escape.
Shinguji Korekiyo is a man shrouded in mystery. Often abused by a now deceased elder sister, he snapped before any of the other Vestiges did, being the catalyst for their uprising. Son to Ibuki Mioda and the Ultimate Imposter, he filled his mind with knowledge on the history of cultural musics and costumes, developing a deep love for anthropology. Due to this, often he'll discuss it with anyone who will listen, those tending to be Kaede, Gonta, Rantaro, Kiibo, or Shuichi, who are too polite to refuse.
Shirogane Tsumugi is the daughter of famous pop star Sayaka Maizono and popular baseball star Leon Kuwata. Seeing the way her mother was able to influence the people who followed her, Tsumugi developed an obsession with using the personas of celebrities in order to avoid becoming like her mother's fans. His sewing talent is immaculate, and she used one of her disguises, that of her own mother, to not only escape the facility, but to take her friends with her undetected, under the guise of taking them to a new location. She now uses this talent to infiltrate their bases and blend in with her surroundings as a Vestige Of Hope.
Tojo Kirumi is the daughter of Fuyuhiko Kuzuryu and Peko Pekoyama, and was raised practically as their slave. She was made to do all the cleaning, all the cooking, and all the chores for both the Remnants and the Vestiges. Although she didn't mind this for the Vestiges, she resented the Remnants extremely for this, and longed to destroy them one day. Upon her escape, she maintains her servant-like qualities as a show of appreciation for the other Vestiges for accepting her into the group, as well.
Yonaga Angie is the product of the relationship between Yasuhiro Hagakure and Aoi Asahina. She was left mainly in the "care" of Yasuhiro, someone who mainly just set a bad example, although occasionally he would be genuine to his daughter, using kindness to attempt to lure her to his side. He even got her her first paint set, and desperately wanting to please him, she painted despairing things at first, although eventually she would paint a savior amongst the despair, giving her a deep comfort in religion during her dark times. Upon her escape, she would name this presence "Atua", after a Polynesian deity Korekiyo told her about.
Yumeno Himiko is the result of the union of Mahiru Koizumi and Mondo Owada. She spent most of her life locked up or photographed in despairing situations, so she eventually learned simple magic tricks to amuse herself and her fellow Vestiges, delighting in bringing smiles to their faces when times got hard. Eventually, her prestidigitation aided in their escape, and she would continue to use these tricks and distractions to garner the attention of the Remnants and lead them away from the Vestiges, putting her talent to better use than she ever did in captivity, all the while her favorite fighter vows to remain by her side.

You said to ask about the visual parallels in Vanitas no Carte (I think? Unless I misinterpreted the touch-starved Vanitas headcanon post) and I’d be interested in hearing about those!
- Celestia (Tia) ✨
HELLO, TIA! I HAVE SO MANY VANITAS PARALLELS THAT I LIKE TO YELL ABOUT!
So I'm gonna start with the fact that Noe and Vanitas are visual opposites:
Tumblr media
Where Noe's clothes are light/dark, Vanitas's are dark/light. White jacket vs. black jacket, white vest vs. dark blue vest, black tie vs. light blue tie, dark shirt vs. white shirt, white gloves vs. black gloves. This doesn't even cover their personalities, their vampire clan affiliation, vampire vs. human, etc.
The second thing is that their emotional traumas are different, but in such a way that it makes them into twisted mirrors of each other. Where Noe sees goodness in everyone, Vanitas sees everyone as having negative ulterior motives.
Vanitas is obviously jealous in some way of what Noe and Domi have--a white haired vampire dependent on a dark haired person for blood.
Tumblr media
However, he can't see this as an act of kindness and trust--he specifically describes Domi as a means to an end. Instead, he forces the same dynamic with Jeanne, down to the visuals involved. However, instead of the dependency being based on Noe's fear of his powers and respect of people's privacy, it comes from Vanitas's twisted view of intimacy.
Tumblr media
This is most of what makes me ship the poly of Noe, Vanitas, Jeanne, and Dominique. There's potential for good there, but the initial dynamic between Vanitas and Jeanne needs someone on either side who is secure in emotional relationships to help them with it. Both Vanitas and Jeanne need to realize that they are worthy of love and human connection, while Domi and Noe need to realize that they deserve to be here.
Interestingly, Domi seems to see Jeanne as a second chance of helping Noe, and Noe seems to see Vanitas as a second chance to protect Louis and, eventually, fulfill Louis' last wish. Domi is trying to teach Jeanne how beautiful she is and how to be independent and know what she deserves in life. Noe is trying desperately to stop Vanitas from simply allowing himself to die because he's decided he isn't worthy of life and therefore has no care for his personal safety.
Idk this was kinda rambly but this is how I interpret Vanitas No Carte, thank you for reading.

G5 MOVIE THOUGHTS FOLLOWUP - THE ANCIENT EQUESTRIAN ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM
SPOILER WARNING: THIS WILL GET INTO SPOILERS FOR THE G5 MOVIE EVEN BEFORE THE BREAK. IT HAS BEEN JUST OVER A WEEK SINCE THE MOVIE PREMIERED. BUT IF YOU STILL HAVEN'T SEEN IT, PLEASE SCROLL PAST THIS.
This is something of a follow-up to my thoughts on the movie. My thoughts on the movie were generally positive. Though much like the movie itself, the positive thoughts were on what it’s doing on it’s own merit as the start of a new generation of pony media. As someone who had followed Generation 4 from all the way in the middle of Season 1 to the ending of Season 9, the connection the G5 movie makes with the previous generation in the opening scenes are enough that it’s necessary to give a perspective from a G4 fan’s point of view. Again, I do want to say that G5 will be within it’s right to not have to answer so many plot things at once and try to stand on it’s own by exploring the characters and this new Equestria first.
That said, it shouldn’t be a surprise that the longer none of the questions G4 fans will have are answered. There is a huge elephant in the room with the unanswered questions from G4. And It is Hasbro’s fault in the first place for telling us it’s the same Equestria, There will be fans that are annoying about it from multiple angles, and there will probably be times where people who just want to enjoy G5 on it’s own just outright snap at anyone who wants their answers about what happened in between G4 and G5. Even if the person who asks the question is just genuinely curious and not being demanding there be answers. This is just the kind of thing that all fandoms that have timeskip sequels, especially ones where it overrides a happy ending where discussing with other friends can get dicey.
HAPPY ENDING OVERRIDES AND ALICORNS
Until we get an official answer from the show itself, we can only theorize with each other. Though theorizing about a happy ending override, regardless of how long it’s been and/or how sensible the theory is can start some heated discussions, Cause many were content with the happy ending of the original. While no realistic story ever has a happily ever after, a story within a fantasy land such as MLP’s can be an exception.
Let me give something of a comparison by bringing up another show. Avatar: The Last Airbender is perhaps my favorite show of all-time. And while it’s true I didn’t like the sequel series Korra as much as A:TLA. It wasn’t because of some happy ending override with at least half of the main cast from the previous series deceased. The Avatars themselves are just as human as the other characters in the world. Avatar’s still a fantasy world when all is said and done, but the way the world building is done still made it feel like it it was possible for the world to be in danger again by the time the next Avatar is grown up, most known Avatars had challenges they had to face. The Avatar series blends some form of realism but still manages to provide a fun fantasy world. It’s a case where it’s believable that the main legacy of Aang’s time as the Avatar aside from defeating the Fire Lord where he created Republic City would have it’s own fair share of problems that would be left to his successor to solve. Aang in turn was finishing the war that Roku failed to stop. So while I have my criticisms about Korra, none of those are related to the way the world is after the timeskip. It reasonably makes sense in the context of the Avatar universe.
In contrast, there isn’t much we know about the past of G4 and it’s a much more idealistic setting then in Avatar. Yes, ponies die with what I assume are human-esque lifespans for the exception of the Alicorns. But Friendship is Magic is a setting where the power of friendship is literal magic power that can save the day even when things look bleak. As a result it can get very sappy, but FiM is the kind of show you watch to put a smile on your face rather then go to for a multi-faceted plot. Most episodes of FiM are the kind of thing you see in a lot of other shows. But what brings most of it’s fans back even for the most overdone plots is the characters and their interactions. FiM’s lore is a lot less straight forward, and sometimes may feel not as consistent given there were so many different writers over the long span of time. That said, there is something about the series that sort of ties in heading into G5 and that’s G4’s history, and especially Alicorn lore. We don’t get a lot of either even back in G4, as the most we get is the founding of Equestria was through the Hearth’s Warming Eve story, and the knowledge that Alicorns like Celestia and Luna are at least older then 1000. Which is a huge gap compared to the Avatars that no matter how powerful, have similar mortality to our own. Throughout G4’s time, the debate about Alicorns have raged throughout the whole time even before things got really heated upon Twilight becoming an Alicorn in Magical Mystery Cure. Some went with Celestia and Luna being the only immortal Alicorns while Cadence and Twilight were somehow lesser Alicorns that aren’t immortal but maybe at least still a longer lifespan then their normal pony friends and family. Though as of Season 9, that may be turned on it’s head when in The Last Problem. Twilight eventually grows to Celestia-size as Celestia and Luna even retire to let Twilight succeed them. If Twilight is somehow a lesser Alicorn, why did she grow to Celestia’s size? Why did Celestia and Luna retire in the first place if they knew Twilight will not be as long lived as they are? Perhaps part of the reason G5 has as many questions as it does is because G4 itself created questions it never promised to answer.
That said, the implied length of Celestia and Luna’s rule still presents G5 with a problem that will be asked everywhere. Even if we go with the possibility that most of the Mane 6 have passed from old age, you still have to answer something about Twilight. If Twilight is also dead, how long did she live? Did she at least have an over-1000 year reign as Celestia did? Was perhaps Luster Dawn chosen to be her younger co-ruler if Luster herself ascended at some point? The kind of things that might actually force G5 into a corner when it comes to Alicorns despite the fact G4 never had to, especially now that Sunny may have just become one herself. This is once again, another of the traps Hasbro put the writing team through by having them put it in the same world. G5 thus not only adds questions about what happened in between the Generations, but also now has to inherit what remained unanswered in G4. That is a VERY tall task on a team that will likely just want to do their own little fun pony show. It’ll raise expectations too high, and there will be annoyed fans regardless how they spin it. Which could have all been avoided if they set it up that this was an entirely new world, or made G4 a fictional story (With all the references to it being mainly merchandise for a really meta look at things) in the G5 universe. You’d still have people complaining about it not being as good as G4 probably, but the approach they went with added more gasoline to the fire whenever G4 Vs. G5 debates happen in the MLP fandom. And inter-fandom generation fights are never fun, just ask the Pokemon and the Sonic fandoms how that turns out (Even though there’s no Generation number count for the Sonic franchise. You could say Gen 1 of Sonic was the classic era. Gen 2 was the Sonic Adventure Era. Gen 3 was the “Dark Age” Sonic 2006-Sonic Unleashed era. Gen 4 the Sonic Colors and Generations era. and Gen 5 the current Sonic Forces and Team Sonic Racing era. And then of course there’s also the different TV shows and comic books that also have their own fans that can be at each other’s throats).
There isn’t going to be an easy solution to something that will no doubt have fans on the edge on their seat even if they will be left to hang on that edge for a longtime before G5 starts to give some answers. I think I’ll at least bring up 3 things that will probably be part of the discussions of just what happened between G4 and G5
(More after the break)
1. AND THEN EVERYTHING CHANGED WHEN THE FIRE NATION AN UNKNOWN THREAT ATTACKED
With G4 being considered Ancient Equestria. It’s probably safe to assume this is at least 1,000 years after G4. And 1,000 or more is a really, really, long time. Where anything could of happened, including *GASP* a villain actually winning at some point (Or at least, did some lasting damage even if they were ultimately defeated). Though I think even with that possibility, there has to be a sense that the villain didn’t defeat the Mane 6 while the other members aside from Twilight were still alive. If Twilight was at some point defeated. Perhaps the villain struck when Twilight was most vulnerable. You could also have it that Twilight somehow sacrificed herself to defeat a large threat. She saved Equestria one last time, but at the cost of even her long-lasting alicorn life. With the populace left on their own to continue life without Twilight, but the loss of their longtime leader too much for Equestria. Thus a slow decline happened.
As for who the threat was it’ll probably be a while if we ever know. Perhaps the real Grogar showed up at some point and was truly a harrowing threat to deal with. Or something entirely new. Maybe it wasn’t even a villain, but a catastrophic natural disaster. Whatever it is, if this is the case. We’d have to deal with the sad thought of something being too much for even Twilight to handle
2. TWILIGHT BECAME DEPRESSED/JADED AFTER HER FRIENDS PASSED. POSSIBLY EVIL TOO?
This would basically be the cliche sadfic ending. Where after everyone of the Mane 6 has passed. Twilight just never felt the same afterward. Though I do feel like there is the slight counterpoint that maybe Twilight would still have Celestia and/or Luna (maybe, again we’ve never ever gotten full confirmation of how long Alicorns live. Just assured that it’s more then 1000 years) and she’d most certainly still have a full grown Spike and any of her friends descendants. Death is always a sad reality, but you have to wonder if Twilight would have prepared herself by the time that comes. Twilight would have not gone as far as she did without the rest of the Mane 6. But while I’m sure it would be a tearjerking moment, it’s not like Twilight wouldn’t have other friends she made throughout the generations. Celestia and Luna also must of gone through the same thing living for more then 1000 years, yet they seem pretty fine. So while the subject of “immortality blues” is prime for sadfic material in the fandom. It feels like there’d have to be more nuance then that, if this were the reason the time between G4 and G5 led into each other.
Supposedly, this theory is picking up some form of steam. To the point that a head canon is rolling around is that it was actually Twilight who sealed the magic away in the first place for one reason or another. Essentially making Twilight, in a huge plot twist, a villain in G5 or at the very least someone who took the magic with them into some form of Limbo very similar to Starswirl and the other founders during the Season 7 finale. I… personally don’t know how I’d feel about that. They’d have to be very careful with the execution of such a twist. And I’d want more nuance then simply Twilight getting sad about the deaths of her friends. At the very least, it’d likely eventually get to a point where this villainous incarnation of Twilight is reformed and probably becomes a recurring character from then on. But the writers will have to tread very carefully if this is the direction they take.
3. G5 IS AN ENTIRELY DIFFERENT UNIVERSE/TIMELINE. JUST FOR THE MOST PART THE MAJOR EVENTS OF "ANCIENT EQUESTRIA" STILL HAPPENED
Perhaps this last one really gets into a more desperate side to deflect any possibility that the ending of G4 could of deteriorated into what the world becomes at the start of G5. I know there will be plenty that will be too frustrated with the lack of satisfactory answers that they annoy people in the comment sections, getting into situations where sometimes the only answer to those people will be others that just want to watch G5 as a fun show with a “cope”, “read a history book”, or “deal with it”. But honestly, there can be a case here. As I mentioned in my thoughts in the movie. There are visual details on characters and/or lore that while they may seem minor, to the point that even if they do ever answer important questions such as what caused magic to disappear and/or what happened to Alicorns like Twilight. That the staff may ignore completely because they think it’s too small of a detail to bother including. But the most nitpicky fan can and will latch on small excuses into why it can’t be the same.
Let’s begin with the one-sided Cutie Mark. Again, while it’s true that previous generations made this a tradition. And it was only on one side on the G4 toys as well, as the actual reason it was on both sides in the G4 show was because it was easier for the flash animators. That said, it’s still a big pony design inconsistency. Because regardless of it was only to make things easier, it became a staple because of how long G4 lasted. So it was still so weird to see early screenshot and artwork of G5 characters with grown ponies with no mark. When that wasn’t possible in G4, as it turned out it was because the one-sided cutie mark returned. But one side as opposed to both sides is still a significant difference. Similarly, the horns and wingtips being a different color then the coat may also be a significant difference. Of course I know it can be just waved off as art style difference, as the art direction is no longer based on what Faust wanted the ponies to look like. It’s still plausible enough for someone to discredit it as truly in continuity with G4. Cause even for those that are on the side of “More then 1000 years is a long time, anything could of happened” it’s a lot harder to argue against inconsistencies such as cutie marks only being on one side unless they switch gears to the meta explanation of “G4’s double sided cutie mark was not intentional, at least at first”. But from what most people saw in the G4 show, G4 ponies had marks on both sides. And the G5 ponies don’t. It’s again, quite nitpicky. But it’s enough to start a case that at the very least, the ancient past of G4 is not 100% the same G4 we saw in the show.
Speaking of not the same G4 we saw in the show, another possibility is that G5 actually came out of an alternate timeline. Where perhaps the last two seasons did not happen. If perhaps it’s a timeline where major events in the show either ended anywhere between the end of Season 4 or the end of Season 7, then it starts to feel a little more possible. (Supposedly, the tree of harmony in it’s Season 9 form that might counteract it. But then again it had none of the treehouse architecture and was all wood. Which ironically may lead into it leaning more that the G4 show isn’t the same continuity). If the events of the Friendship School nor everything else that leads to the ending we saw in The Last Problem. It’d be a lot more palatable because the pretty much implied world peace ending with non-ponies in the mix included is discounted. There’d still be questions even in this scenario, like did Celestia and Luna still retire in this timeline then. And regardless if they did or not, the show would still be burdened with the question of what happened to the Alicorns. But it’d at least solve the most pressing question with the peace of The Last Problem being squandered. Because perhaps in this timeline, the Mane 6 never went that far. Perhaps it would imply some sort of indirect failure in that case. But this is perhaps a scenario they had a similar foreign policy as Celestia did. Not really hostile to anyone, but not intervening even in ways that could be helpful. Heck, if we go far enough in saying that G5\s G4 (As confusing as that may sound) was different from what we saw in Friendship is Magic, what if there were differences even early on for one reason or another? With how vague the connection is, we only know that the Mane 6 were friends and Twilight still became a princess at some point. From there. potentially a lot of other things may have gone differently other then that.
Again, saying G5 is a completely different universe/timeline is probably always going to sound like a desperate way for people who cannot possibly believe the ending of G4 eventually led to the start of G5. And I’d understand why that’ll annoy people who just want to watch the G5 series on it’s own merits. But it really wouldn’t be entirely the fans to blame for that attitude. G4 lasted a whole decade, many got attached to the characters/world we saw that had about the happiest ending it could possibly be. It should naturally make people unhappy that in a few ways it’s stomping over a happy ending for this fantasy world that many watched to escape from the realities of the real world.
Even with the long time allotted of 1000+ years or more, that’s made complicated by the implied long lives of the Alicorns from G4. Only opening up that can of worms further by seemingly making Sunny an alicorn. There’s a debate on whether this form is permanent, but if it’s NOT permanent. That arguably adds yet another addition to the list of reasons it may fall out of continuity. The only time we had a temporary Alicorn transformation (outside of Animation errors, or dream sequences like Big Mac’s) was when Cozy was an Alicorn after receiving some of the magic from Grogar’s bell. But even in that case, Cozy’s wings were not more like a glowy hologram like Sunny’s wings seem to be. And even if it is permanently on Sunny now, the design for Alicorns is too different. Adding onto the one-sided cutie marks, and different colored wings and horns. So the G5 writers may actually be stuck in a lose/lose situation when it comes to Alicorns after the ending of the movie. I think whether Sunny is permanently an Alicorn or not, they may not elaborate enough about it. And it’ll be among the headaches in the comment section (Though may at least be a reprieve from the political discussions G5 are going to have on occasion I imagine.)
Hasbro chose to try to say this is the same Equestria, and a new show needs conflicts to solve. But from the perspective of some G4 fans… it forces a world they loved, to get torn down into arguably a more divided world then even the Hearth’s Warming tale. Which said tale seems to have been implied to be from before Princess Celestia and Luna were around (Based on the lore of the unicorns being the one to raise the sun and moon) and thus yes. Somehow, if everything that happened in G4 is canon to G5. Then the world peace in The Last Problem in just a thousand years or so become worse then even Celestia’s sole rule.
RESPONDING TO “READ A HISTORY BOOK”
I’ve mentioned before, you can try to point to World History to point why this is a realistic take. But again, we don’t have an ancient civilization from 1000 years ago that we look up to as the pinnacle of peace in the world (Like I said, the Golden age of Ancient Greece and/or Rome still had slavery and brutal wars). That has literally never happened. What was shown in the Last Problem very much looked like it was that for Equestria. I feel it’s a terrible interpretation of time, especially in regards to the context that the leaders of Equestria tend to live for at least more then 1000 years to imply things would just go backward like that.
CONCLUSION
The movie on it’s own merits is a good start for the generation, though at the same time. It’s going to have some hard questions that’ll often be no-win situations for the writers. They can choose to ignore the G4 questions, understandably trying to tiptoe around as many cans of worms as possible which would allow them to do whatever the heck they want with G5. Maybe even getting a few stragglers frustrated with no answers to just shrug and continue watching anyway if the show entertains them enough. Or they can certainly try to at least give some answers on the biggest questions (What happened to the magic, and/or what was the fate of G4’s alicorns) but risk having an answer that just adds even more questions.
The movie is a decent start for a new generation if you only view it as a pilot for a new series, but if you view it as a sequel to Friendship is Magic. There are certainly problematic issues with that currently. Maybe the special in Spring, or the eventual Series will cover some of this but it does leave fans waiting a while for answers that they’re not promised to get, or at least not as quickly as they’d like. Remember when I mentioned that I may view some of this similarly to how I was about Starlight Glimmer after her sudden redemption at the end of Season 5? With many questions I wanted to know about Starlight before I could really accept her as a recurring character? (And not really fully coming into terms with her until I expanded on her myself in a story for I Dream of Twilight Sparkle) This may be how I have to view the connection of G4 and G5.
They can go one of two routes: At least try to give as much of a clear explanation as possible. Even if it’s one that doesn’t exactly answer everything, at least giving a good try may help with those who have questions remaining in relation to G4. If instead however, they go the Season 6 Starlight route of just about ignoring all the questions fans have, it’ll make things frustrating for many. At least with Starlight, she wasn’t the major focus in every episode. That said, Season 6’s job was to endear us more to her reformed character. Now with G5’s setup, it may be running well into a corner where they must try to answer what happened in between G4 and G5 or else you end up making a lot of fans lukewarm or worse to your series. Starlight’s reformation and then lack of ability of Season 6 to explain more about Starlight to us was a divisive moment. And G5 involving G4 brings over the same kind of feeling but on a larger scale because now it’s in the very premise of the generation’s plot, it’s less avoidable compared to one character. Because even when it comes to episodes that will not further the plot and it’s just a fun friendly moment between the members of the mane 5, this movie is how they met and thus the not fully explained premise would always be looming over like a large shadow. It probably doesn’t help that they’re basically starting with a reformed Starlight-esque moment when it comes to introducing it’s premise AND on top of that something similar although certainly with at least a lot less backlash then with Alicorn Twilight since it came so soon. Though I do have to think there will be people who think this was way too soon to be ascending Sunny, since at least we got to see Twilight’s journey to Alicornhood (Even if you weren’t a fan of the episode she ascended in). Sunny arguably does earn her Alicornhood through implied years of working to unite the ponies. But it can still feel too soon when you had 2 1/2 seasons worth of episodes before Twilight did, while Sunny did so within one movie.
Someone’s ultimate thoughts on G5 might end up being what they are looking for in this new generation. If they’re looking for just about everything new. The movie provides plenty of that with new characters, new locations, and a more modernized world compared to G4 Equestria (Even if G4 Equestria had it’s own fair share of electronics it looked like, such as video game machines). If you’re in this for the G4 references. Aside from the very beginning of the movie, you’re kind of stuck doing a where’s waldo for most of the movie. And no guarantees you’ll get much more then that later. As I said in the trailer thoughts, the G4 stuff could very much be just Hasbro trying to bake it’s cake and eat it too. With a world that feels like it should be it’s own thing, but they didn’t want to commit entirely to that. So they shoehorn G4 in as the ancient past without giving a proper explanation to how point A (the end of G4) got to point B (the start of G5). It’s only been about a week since the movie premiered, but there is just so much to digest. And for those looking for answers to the G4 elephant in the room, may feel like they get nothing but metaphorical tummy aches for a long time.
I’ll end this off by having a message to both people who already feel like they’ll be fans of G5, as well as people like me who were fans of G4 and have concerns about where G5 may be doing to it’s legacy.
For the G5 fans, as I mentioned in the trailer thoughts. I still hope that it turns out ultimately good. I don’t know where things will go from here but the G5 movie taking in context that it’s basically a really long series premiere, had some genuinely enjoyable moments. At the same time, I hope anyone in the G5 fanbase can try to understand why G4 fans have the concerns that they do. I’ll repeat, G4 lasted a decade and was the absolute peak of MLP’s popularity. There will be a lot of people attached to that world, and understandably upset about the implication that it got torn down into how the world is at the start of G5. If they’re really annoying about it, I can understand why you couldn’t hold the urge to snap at them to “Get over it” just try not to snap at the ones who are just asking curiously. I’m personally not going to spam comment threads with “THIS DOESN’T FIT WITH G4!” or “HASBRO ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS PLEASE”, but I would be lying if I were to say I’m not just as curious about what those type of fans want to know too.
And as for G4 fans like me, if G5 ever upsets you in some fashion. It’s ok to stop watching and just stay quiet whenever you find yourself in a conversation about G5 and only participate in G4 matters in the fandom. This is a natural evolution of a fandom’s lifecycle where eventually a direction a franchise is taken to a place some others don’t like. So you’re only left to mainly talk with those who prefer an older generation and/or incarnation. Just because G5 has started and even though Hasbro says it’s the same world as G4. You can still do G4 content by itself and ignore G5. If you still have the inclination to do stuff with G4, do it. Generation 5 is not stopping people from still drawing the G4 characters, or writing more stories about them, or even if you don’t feel you’re that creative. Support artists who are still drawing G4 ponies, and/or rewatch some of your favorite episodes of Friendship is Magic that give you a smile. MLP has lasted since the 80s, and while for the most part to Hasbro it’s to sell toys. Toys, and the shows surrounding them’s purpose is to make the people watching or playing with them smile. From the little girls in the 80s to the much more diverse both gender-wise and age-wise fandom that came out of G4. The cute ponies are supposed to make us happy, and it’s ok to get back into a comfort zone if perhaps a different part of Ponies don’t give you the same feeling or even upset you in some way. Also as a vice versa to my message to G5 fans, try as best you can not to provoke those enjoying G5. If the G5 movie and/or episodes makes them as happy as your favorite G4 episodes/movies you should let them be. Many of us had to deal with that crap just for daring liking a pony show at all early on in the fandom. Try not to add to the toxicity as best you can. G4 is not going to be forgotten, the fact Hasbro decided to try to make it in the same universe actually has the side effect of making sure of that. Cause maybe you have fans that enter the MLP franchise through G5 curious about what happened in the past. And thus, they can be led to watch the previous generation. New G5 fans could potentially also become new G4 fans and friends. In other words, friendship… is still magic!

I, for one, welcome our new Overlord.
Tumblr media
So the Main Six and Spike are heading back from Abyssinia when they found a newly created Hot Spring. Now Abyssinia seems to be a Kingdom containing a lot of locations, including the Capital of it called Pantera. Now I want you to remember this whenever I get around to the issues in Pantera. Because this combined with that makes those Season 10 Comics a lot more frustrating than they are.
Tumblr media
Another thing to note: everyone BUT SPIKE, has shown to be relaxing in the Hot Springs. In fact, despite Spike being there he has no lines whatsoever in these opening moments. So remember this. Either way, the next day, everyone who did took a dip in the Hot Springs have been acting weird.
Tumblr media
Applejack is so focused on Business she threatens her sister, Twilight declares herself Empress of Ponyville, Rarity rejects it, thinking she’s better at ruling, and Rainbow Dash is making Sonic Rainbooms non-stop. And to spoil things, Pinkie Pie became a clown with the intention to spread Chaos while Fluttershy is sort of like Poison Ivy but for animals instead of plants.
Tumblr media
Celestia thinks Luna is the best choice since she has experience being a Dark Entity herself. But apparently the waters not only perverted their best traits but made them stronger too. Even Luna couldn’t hold Applejack. The issue ends with the Crusaders going to find Zecora while Spike and Luna try to prevent as much damage as they can.
Tumblr media
The next issue begins with Twilight making a device that will steal the intelligence of ponies. Now they’re so dumb, they think the Martha Scene to Batman V Superman is good. Back with the Crusaders, despite the last issue showing them confronting Fluttershy and her army of critters, show them running through the forest stepping on a bunny by mistake and then confronting Fluttershy.
Tumblr media
And I really like how Fluttershy looks in these issues. The flower motif would work well on her even if she isn’t evil. If I was capable of drawing, I would probably have Fluttershy look like this by default. Meanwhile back in Ponyville Pinkie Pie captures a bunch of ponies to force them to sit in her comedy act. All the while Rarity fights Princess Luna, doing very well against her.
Tumblr media
The Crusaders find Zecora and escape Fluttershy and her critter army. See, she still looks good in this. Just in time as Rarity Vs Luna becomes a three way as Pinkie Pie blows off the roof of the building, literally. And with Zecora there, she theorizes that the cure is related to Spike because...
Tumblr media
So remember how I highlighted Spike had no lines and also didn’t appear in the waters like the others? I get the feeling that they couldn’t think of a way to cure the girls and decided to add Spike to get this conclusion. This is all an assumption but honestly considering how bad the continuity from last issue to this one concerning this and Fluttershy makes me suspect that this was a last minute addition.
Tumblr media
It ends with Rarity ending her fight with Luna to fight Twilight, Pinkie Pie spreading the Water in balloons, making anyone hit by it evil (instantly compared to the time it took them to turn evil), thus Nightmare Moon returning after Luna got hit by it. And more importantly, Fluttershy preparing her armies by playing the Drums of War...
Tumblr media
The next issue begins with Nightmare Moon Vs Joker Pinkie Pie, since Nightmare Moon wants Order while Pinker wants Chaos. Luckily Zecora uses Spike’s Dragon Scales to make a potion to turn the Bad Water into Good Water, as in Water that will reverse the effects of this. First with Pinkie Pie because she’s there, then Applejack. Followed by Rainbow Dash who makes it rain the cure for everyone else...
Tumblr media
Except for Rarity and Twilight who were still fighting in the castle and Nightmare Moon who thinks its better for them to work together than to fight each other. But a toast reveals that it was really Princess Luna trying to trick them. Works for Rarity but not Twilight who claimed to be able to predict every possible outcome there is...
Tumblr media
Except Pinkie Pie because F YOU IT’S PINKIE PIE. Twilight reverses her Brain Drain and everyone works on repairing the damages they caused while under the influence of Dark Water.
Tumblr media
See, told you it makes them that dumb.
Tumblr media
It ends with Zecora negating the Hot Spring’s Evil magic, them enjoying themselves again, and Luna being grateful that the Waters Negated their friendship because if they were together, they would have been unstoppable. Overall, I would say its an enjoyable mess. Lots of fun background stuff and I did enjoy Evil Fluttershy. Though I do say its a mess because of some logical flips it had to do. But its not canon with GLAB... At least not yet...

Who were all the Old Ones glimpsed in Discord's slideshow during Ch. 44 of Elements of Harmony?
ALL RIGHT, LET’S BREAK DOWN THE GRAND REVEAL. This was not necessarily ALL the characters I planned to add to the stew, but this is a fairly good representation, including the actual final villain I planned for the entire story, who I guarantee NO ONE had guessed.
“The images were terrifying. There was Mirage, along with ablue winged cat.”
Obviously Mirage from Aladdin: The Animated Series, who had been established as an Old One before. And where there is Mirage, I had decided there must also be Chaos, also from ATAS. I’d introduced him briefly at the end of the Seven Deserts storylet, but Rainbow Dash never met him, so he’s nameless here. He was going to be Discord’s little brother who Discord considered inferior to him in every way.
“There was a gigantic black creature, somewhat like a gargoyle, with bright yellow eyes and a horned head, rising from a mountain in thedarkness.”
Chernabog from Fantasia. Bummmmm, bummmmm, bum bum ba DAAAAAAA, DA DAAAAAA…DADADADAAAAAA…DADADADA! DA!
“There was a tall, thin, humanoid man, with no face—just blankwhiteness—and arms that branched into writhing tentacles; he wore a neat blacksuit.”
The infamous and memetic Slenderman. There was a time when I was REALLY into the Slenderman mythos, and I figured he made a good addition to the team.
“There was a golden two-headed dragon whose body was that of a gigantic marblestatue’s head.”
This is Fortitudo from Bayonetta. I eventually wanted to introduce a theme that Darkness was not always evil, and Light could be just as bad. Fortitudo and the other Cardinal Virtues were the most Light-associated characters I could think of to hand to the Old Ones to show that they could encompass both Dark and Light and ultimately be aligned with neither.
“There was a red-orange mass that erupted from the ground into alumbering body and a head with sharp teeth.”
I actually don’t remember? This might be Pyros from Disney’s Hercules. While he was too, well, destroyed in zillions of pieces to join the Titan force that assembled upon the first visit to Olympic Greece, he and the other three (I wasn’t counting the Cyclops) were going to be put back together.
“A slim red creature withslicked-back black hair and a teasing grin.”
HIM from The Powerpuff Girls, who was going to have an epic broTP with Discord. Nergal from The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy was going to round out their trio, though Nergal was just a god, not an Old One. I think I WAS going to have Nergal be the son of Chernabog, though.
“A black sphere from which protrudedan enormous hand, and at its center, through layers of black metal, a tinyglass sphere containing a green larva was visible.”
Yami from Okami. If we’re going to have the Cardinal Virtues representing Light, we’re going to have Yami be the Darkness.
“A man wearing black hornedarmor, impossibly gigantic and casting a hungry shadow.”
…Well, gosh darn it, I knew all these characters when I put them in this fic and now I can’t remember who some of them are now, including this one. I’ll probably remember him at 3 a.m. next Thursday.
“Another man, bound inbandages, with black and white striped hair.”
Asura from Soul Eater.
“Another black sphere, with noremarkable features other than an impending sense of danger.”
Mr. Shadow from The Fifth Element.
“A grinning god—orsomething more powerful, the father of gods—flanked by hulking masses ofelements, fire, ice, wind, shaped vaguely like living beings.”
Okay, so that earlier thing can’t be Pyros, because here are Pyros, Lythos, Hydros, and Stratos with Kronos.
“An aged man incrimson robes, with bright crimson eyes.”
The Crimson King from Stephen King’s Dark Tower books.
“A soil-colored dragon chewing upon theroot of a tree, hoping to cause its toppling and with it an entire realm ofexistence.”
Nidhogg from Norse mythology, who I equated with Melvin from Odin Sphere. He actually made his debut a couple storylets later!
“A creature that shifted from human woman to mare, but kept constanttwo black buttons for eyes.”
The Other Mother from Coraline. She has a pony form here because the Coraline storylet was going to be the Mane Six entering a warped version of Ponyville where everypony had button eyes and everything seemed to be perfect. I can’t remember if I was planning on having the OM take the form of Celestia, cycle through the bodies of the six’s mothers, or just be a mare with an original design who claimed to rule over this supposedly perfect Ponyville.
“A blue-skinned woman with silver hair—her head washacked off by an invisible blade then and there, but it kept on smiling.”
Jenova from Final Fantasy VII.
“A manwho seemed unremarkable, resembling perhaps a politician or an office worker, but whose shadow writhed as he held up a vial of what seemed to be deadlypoison.”
Okay, everyone listen up, because THIS IS ACTUALLY THE MOST PIVOTAL PIECE OF THE PASSAGE. I mention a certain Lovecraftian god later, and I put an emphasis on that side of Cosmic Horror, so I imagine most of my readers were guessing the final boss of EoH would either be a Lovecraftian god, Discord, or Maleficent. The answer is none of the above. It’s this guy. This is Khattam-Shud, from the book “Haroun and the Sea of Stories” by Salman Rushdie. Which everyone reading this post needs to go read RIGHT NOW because it’s so good. Khattam-Shud is the physical incarnation of “The End,” and in a world where stories originate and are sent out for mortals to tell, he wants to destroy all stories so that they will reach The End and there will be nothing left. He is intentionally described as very ordinary, and uses that to work influence on the mortal plane, occasionally acting as an agent of chaos to bring real-life events to tragic ends. (I won’t spoil how it goes down in the book.) Well, since EoH was going to be a crossover of ALL FICTION EVER and I was going to eventually touch on the fact that THESE WORLDS ARE FICTIONAL, I felt like Khattam-Shud was the best possible final boss. The endgame was going to be the Old Ones breaking down all the worlds into a chaos dimension where everything was mixed up and characters died like crazy. As heroes and villains alike allied to make a final stand against them, only too late would the Old Ones, especially Discord, realize that Khattam-Shud set them all up and is not using their powers to cause chaos, but rather to OUTRIGHT DESTROY EVERYTHING, intending to finish it off by destroying the other Old Ones and finally himself so there would be NO STORIES LEFT. EVER. And I actually wanted to get it down to the Mane Six vs. Khattam-Shud as the only seven beings left in the multiverse; the six would have sort of a magical deus ex machina (perhaps a subject for another post?) that would have allowed them to reverse Khattam-Shud’s power and bring back all the worlds and their friends and enemies alike.
“A being as tall as a mountain, with a green face, sharp white fangs, and flames for eyebrows.”
Aku from Samurai Jack. A note: I had only seen a couple eps of SJ at the time; I just knew that Aku was exactly what I wanted, and I had plans for him. I was going to do the whole show before getting to that storylet, of course. WELL, NOW I’VE ACTUALLY DONE THE WHOLE SHOW AND EOH IS DEAD AND I NEVER GOT TO USE HIM AND HE’S A REALLY GOOD VILLAIN. BLARGH.
“A monstrously huge being, green as the sea, withtentacles protruding from its face.”
And, as promised, this is Cthulhu. Put last to, again, fake people out to think he might be the Bigger Bad when in fact, it’s Khattam-Shud everyone needs to watch out for!

Battle Royale (Equestria Girls Edition)
Tumblr media
So I decided to do a bracket list on who would win in a fight between the Equestria Girls she-demons. Based on this, I wish there was one more she-demon so that it could be balanced but since it’s not, I only had five which is why in the first round Gloriosa doesn’t go against anyone. Now for these match-ups I chose randomly from a wheel generator for fairness. I’m going to list my reasons why who wins, but first I’m going to list attributes of the girls.
Demon Sunset
Tumblr media
Power Set
 Can turn people into demons
Levitation
Can hypnotize people
Fireballs
Physical Attributes
Demon
Tall ( about Principal Celestia’s height)
Has fangs
Claws
Can fly with wings
The Dazzlings (Full Power)
Tumblr media
Power Set (Given that Adagio refers to their powered up forms as their true power which was displayed in Shadow Play, I’m taking those into account)
Sonic Singing
Can create astral projections via pendant
Magic blasts (their original forms in Equestria were able to produce blasts of magic from their breath due to being sirens)
Physical Attributes
Human/Pony Hybrid
Flight (according to the novelization)
Midnight Sparkle
Tumblr media
Power Set
Shoots magic beams that causes cracks in dimensions
Magic absorption (she had this ability in the second draft, she had a whole magic sucking device so I’m giving this to her)
Physical Attributes
Dark feathered wings that give her flight
Sharp horn
Gloriosa Everfree
Tumblr media
Power Set
Can manipulate control vines and plants
Can create a large scale dome of vines entrapping everything in it
Self-Levitation
Physical Attributes
Human with magic
Juniper Monstar (couldn’t find a gif or upload an image of her “demon form”
Tumblr media
Power Set
No magic powers
Physical Attributes
Giantess
Super Strength
With those attributes out of the way, lets get started with the fights. But Gloriosa automatically goes to the final round for being picked at random as the middle ground.
1st Fight- Demon Sunset vs. Juniper Monstar
This fight easily goes to Demon Sunset due to her having more of a magical arsenal than Juniper who has none. In terms of strength Juniper is strong and is taller than Demon Sunset (who scales to Principal Celestia at best when she’s on the ground) but Demon Sunset can fly and even though Juniper can throw projectiles, Demon Sunset can just catch them with her magic. Demon Sunset could throw any magic attack at her or even hypnotize her and Juniper loses.
Winner: Demon Shimmer
2nd Fight- The Dazzlings (Adagio) vs. Midnight Sparkle
So for this fight I wanted to make it fair...and 3 vs. 1 isn’t fair so for the sake of this, it’s Adagio vs. Midnight because Adagio does the most stuff in Rainbow Rocks. Now both can fly and shoot magical beams. Adagio has her sonic singing while Midnight could disperse it with a straight forward magic blast which would leave Adagio vulnerable to a face attack (like Twilight did to Tirek in the S9 finale). Adagio could summon her astral form to do the fighting for her, but Midnight would most likely catch on and would need to strike Adagio down or even just strike her pendant with enough force to destroy it. Adagio would be depowered, her astral form destroyed and at Midnight’s mercy.
Winner: Midnight Sparkle
*Results of 1st Half*
1st Fight Winner: Demon Sunset Shimmer
2nd Fight Winner: Midnight Sparkle
3rd Fight- Demon Shimmer vs. Midnight Sparkle
Both of these girls are transformed into she-demons. Both are empowered by a form of the Elements. In Demon Sunset’s case, she’s empowered by the physical crown of the Element of Magic, while in Midnight Sparkle’s case, she’s infused with a combined raw form of the Elements of Harmony. Now Demon Shimmer has a light advantage in height and wingspan and she has more of an arsenal but I doubt that most of her arsenal would be effective or benefit her against someone arguably more powerful than her
Mind Control: For this to work, Demon Sunset would blink, concentrate and activate her hypnotic eyes and her hypnotic rings would have to travel to Midnight, which who deflect and attack her in that state
Demonization: Demon Sunset would need to blast directly at Midnight and would need to land a direct hit...but considering Midnight is also a she-demon I don’t think it’ll do anything. Even if Midnight was a demon like Sunset she would still have agency and her own powers still.
Fireballs: Again, if it was one she would have to aim directly but Midnight could easily fly and dodge
Demon Sunset like Adagio has one clear weakness, the physical crown. If Midnight knocks the crown off of Sunset’s head or even knocks Demon Sunset out hard enough she could just take the crown off of Sunset’s head and she’s depowered.
Winner: Midnight Sparkle
Final Fight: Midnight Sparkle vs. Gloriosa Everfree
Now for Gloriosa her abilities are able to ensnare others in vines that are strong enough to grow back even if blasted apart. None of the Equestria Girls who had attacks were strong enough to destroy the brambles with Twilight being the closest due to levitation. Gloriosa could ensnare Midnight in brambles but Midnight’s powers start from her horn and spread to her hands so she could easily break out and destroy the brambles. All Midnight would have to do is blast Gloriosa with a direct hit and knock her out or destroy the geodes and she claims victory.
Final Winner: Midnight Sparkle

vs Celestia (FE)
Strong steps all around. Fights rage on across the castle. The throne needs to be seized, and while some of the other magic-inclined allies take the royal guard from afar, the hooded Sunset approaches the magnificently dressed Queen, dark sparks already flaring from her tome of choice.
“Ah. I see you have relinquished your haughty nature and recognized who is superior. It behooves you to stay your tome, Sunset Shimmer.”
“Tch. As if. I came here for you. To shove some sense into your face.”
“Hm?”
“You’re inept. Always hiding behind someone. The Elements of Harmony. Your new protegé turned princess. Your sister. Even as your servants fall, you don’t stand from your throne. You never gave me any power because you had none. I should have figured.”
“You resent your own weakness so much that you’ll blame it all on me? Sunset, my dear. This was what I was trying to avoid. True strength can never come from one person alone. Even when surrounded by all these friends, are you still blind to this, like you were all this time?”
“I’m not weak!! No thanks to you! I know exactly what you mean. I have allies now. I know this power. But it’s not mine to do what I wish with. That, I had to get on my own. And I did! I’ll show you right here, right now, how wrong you were!“
“... Then come. If you’ll pit your life on these ideals, I’ll have to show you the folly of it.”
Sunset raises her hand forth, and a wide dark matter materializes between them, shooting forward to Celestia in interrupted burst, which makes her back down a step, but keep standing with no other signs of pain.
Celestia, in turn, raises a scepter with a blue orb on top, that glows bright, before the room and especially Sunset are bathed in schorching sunlight, that makes the girl yelp and kneel, unable to stand up for a while after the attack that devastated her.
Galloping is heard, and a sword sheathes. Sunset sees the looming shadow of a cavalier with a hat stretch a hand to her. A rescue.
“No, I-”
She wants to resist, but is forced to take it when the armor-clad country girl takes her in anyway.
“Ya’ll did yer part. Leave it to Twi now.”
The turn was not over, but her part was.

Re:Creators – 04
(For this week’s Re:C I’m filling in for Franklin, who is currently battling a bit of a backlog in both inbox and anime queue. Ganbatte, Oigakkosan! —Hannah)
After learning her creator died in an auto accident, a rudderless Meteora does a fair amount of soul-searching, starting by purchasing the game she’s in and playing it all the way to the end, in an effort to both learn more about herself and the person who created her, in hopes that information will help her make an informed decision about what to do next.
She painstakingly reports all of this to the others, as well as presents her hypothesis about this world only being able to take so many “translations” of creations before it crumbles under the weight of all the “contradictions.” For the fourth straight episode, this involves Meteora talking and explaining in a measured tone for an extended period of time—until the sun sets outside, in fact.
And while it does manage to hit some emotional beats towards the end—basically, she likes her creator, his creation, and wants to fight to get everything back to the way it was—it once more expose’s this show using such scenes as a crutch to keep the audience appraised. It’s too much tell and not enough show.
The chatting continues in a dark warehouse, where the onna-kishi Alicetelia has captured her creator and forced him to revise her world so there isn’t so much dang war, only for it not to work. The Military Uniform Princess assures her that this is an our worlds-vs.-their world situation, she’s leading the revolt, and could use able warriors like Alice.
We meet Beardy, who like Yuuya is content to have fun in this world for a time, and not in a rush to return to his world. Mamika also softens “Alice-chan’s” character somewhat by questioning rash side-taking, especially with people like the MUP, while tucking into boil-in-the-bag curry, the package of which bears Mamika’s likeness.
One of Matsubara’s fellow creators then calls him, informing him that one of his creations—a young mecha pilot—has suddenly appeared, along with his mecha, who on the surface looks like he’d be on Team Celestia/Meteora. That leaves just one more main creation from the promo art and OP to introduce: the Oushino Ougi-esque Chikujouin Makagami, who looks more like Team MUP.
As this is a 22-episode run, it’s not unusual to not have all the main players introduced after four episodes. But there remains a sluggishness and a feeling that we’re not seeing as much of the potential of this premise as we could, and are instead hearing a whole lot about it from static characters as other characters sit around in rooms listening.
To be blunt, I’m eager for Re:Creators to get out of those rooms and start kicking some ass out in the world. With the lines starting to be drawn among the creations according to how they want to proceed, hopefully we’ll get more actual confrontations soon.

Tumblr media
A review of the first (and infamous) Fan Episode of My Little Pony.
youtube
Tumblr media
Now how I first heard of this was through Joshscorcher’s Double Rainboom Review. Since then I had a sour opinion of this episode despite never actually seeing it fully. So for this month, I figure why not actually see the thing and give my thoughts.
Tumblr media
The episode begins with Breeze Rider trying to clear up snow in a specific area. Off the bat, ?his? voice is terrible. Honestly, this is why I rarely make videos using my voice (besides being in a noisy area). I don’t like the sound of my voice and I can see others having the same reaction like theirs.
Tumblr media
As they’re spending more time playing than clearing, Doodlecute scolds them that he should finish of else the residents of that castle will complain. Breeze doesn’t worry because nobody has been there for who knows how long. And then we meet Dusk who is turning 9 years old tonight.
Tumblr media
Because Nine Year Olds have the best idea, he breaks into this obviously boarded up room and discovers a Book that’s full of Illusions and Dark Powers. But apparently reading for a short while is enough for an Evil Entity to take over Dusk’s Body in his bid to, you guess it, take over the world.
Tumblr media
In a story that seems to not relate to Dusk’s Tale, not to be confused with Dusttale, Iris and Mr. Brave are talking when a big Tempest Shadow suddenly appeared. With Iris’ magic, Mr. Brave enters the forest to find Doodlecute from before. Her friend, Star Whistle, was studying a ring and when she put it on her magic went out of control. So Doodle and Brave confront Star Whistle...
Tumblr media
BY A FINAL FANTASY BATTLE! I know I’m likely not to make the first joke about this, but honestly what other joke can you make. You could literally recreate this scene like FF6 and it would match up perfectly. Anyway Brave powers through her magic and tackles Whistle to the Ground. Doodlecute removes the ring.
Tumblr media
And NOW the Royal Guard shows up (alongside Iris and Breeze Rider). When they see the Symbol for Dusk’s Family inside it, they figure that’ll be a good place to look for what’s up with the thing. So they head there as Brave, Iris and Doodle take care of the Animals hurt in the Castle Fog while the other three enter the castle.
Tumblr media
There is a legitimately funny joke in this. After Donut (who isn’t as awesome as the Red Vs Blue Version) barges in through the front door and was going to do it again, Breeze Rider wanted to take a less brute force approach. That’s when he peaks his head inside, sees Evil Dusk, goes back inside, and let Donut do his job. That is legitimately funny.
Tumblr media
Dusk takes out Donut (because he’s a royal guard), is in a magical struggle against Star Whistle when Breeze Rider comes in, slowly, to take away the wand. I bet it was tricky to try to animate Breeze going fast from behind. But with his weapon gone, Dark Dusk pretends to collapse and convinces the brain trust that he was a victim.
Tumblr media
And he is a terrible actor. Like you know how I say Chrysalis is a terrible actor? Dark Dusk makes Chrysalis look like an Academy Award Winning Actor in comparison. Sometime later, Donut is promoted to Artifact Guard duty and is bored. He spends a good amount of time complaining about the job...
Tumblr media
If you got to give this episode credit, Donut is about as competent as the Real Royal Guards. After finding what are supposedly the Elements of Harmony, he and the other five are gathered to Celestia and that’s where the episode ends, with a promise to return that never came to be.
Tumblr media
And the last image you see is the Nine Year Old Dusk stuck in a Mirror trying to get out. You know! Happy! Overall, yeah it is really rough. Since this is the first during the Early Days of the Fandom, you can’t really expect a lot. Its commendable these people worked hard to make this story but sadly it does lead to this being good riffing material than something to watch for it.
