Nick was never one to shy away from kissing his lover's neck. He knew that Ezra enjoyed it, or at least he assumed so given the noises that left his lips whenever he started to do so. Today was no different, the two having a lazy day in bed, not caring about anything other than each other. Nick had given the other plenty of kisses on his lips and jawline, though now he was focused on his neck. Kissing over the pale skin, he grazed his fangs over a spot for a moment before choosing to simply nip at it instead. He was never one to truly bite Ezra, not unless the other was completely adamant that he do so.

This author is certain that the Bridgerton family will be busy this social season with not one, but two daughters debuting on the Marriage mart. It is very much apparent that neither Eliza nor Eloise Bridgerton are anything like their older sister Daphne who you will recall was last season’s diamond. You will also likely recall that the Bridgerton family are no strangers to scandal. It is difficult to say what will come to be for them this season.

However, the Bridgerton’s are not the only members of the ton this author will be focusing on during Mayfair’s current social season as one Ezra Lewis has returned to the ton after nearly half a decade of seclusion at his family’s estate by the sea. It would appear as though he is finally seeking a new bride…perhaps even a love match.

The door was still closed. Ezra had gone past the bathroom twice already, hearing water running and just assuming it was the shower. This last time it had passed half an hour, and while it wasn’t uncommon for his sister to lose track of time, usually the change of routine was meant to help that.

He knocked at the door. “Addy? Is everything okay?”

Just like that the water cut, and there was the sound of fumbling around before her response came. “Yes yes, uh, can you come in? I need an extra hand.”

Stomach sinking, Ezra opened the door.

Adeline was fully dressed, even a house coat thrown over her shoulders. Her hand was wrapped in one of the towels, and there was fog on the windows and pink in her cheeks from the big water.

Ezra frowned. "Is everything okay?"

"Kinda… I was trying to wash a cut on my hand and it might've gotten carried away." She shrugged. 

He held his hand out. “Let me see, maybe I can help?” 

She hesitated. “It doesn’t look… You can’t freak out.”

“It was just an accident, right?”

Reluctantly, she turned over her hand for him to examine. He expected something like a slash on her finger, maybe even a gash in her palm, but pulling back the towel he had no idea what he was looking at. Most of the bleeding was stopped by then, or at least her hand was too pruned to show clearly. Her skin had puckered in small, almost craters, throughout most of her fingers, with one particularly gnarly spot between her thumb and forefinger.

“I said don’t--I can explain!” She insisted, watching his face drop. “It was a sewing accident--”

“How?” He stopped her from curling her fist, worried she’d cause more damage. “This is bad, maybe Grandpa needs to see--”

Addy snatched her hand back and crossed her arms. “It’s fine. It doesn't even hurt! It was just a little needle.”

Ezra sucked in a breath and gently tugged her hand back for a closer look. “A needle?”

“Mhm. I was sewing, like I said.” Her eyes darted over his shoulder, keeping watch for their grandfather, before she continued. “The needle kept getting stuck when I tried pushing it through. I thought it was dull, so I tried to sharpen it and tried testing it on my fingers.”

“Tried.” He repeated, looking over the pinpricks she’d poked into all her fingers.

She nodded. “I didn’t notice it, so I just kept trying. I didn’t realize I was poking so hard, it didn’t feel like anything.”

The wound in her hand didn’t look like something “poking” could do, unless she was using the most force possible. Ezra was sorely tempted to say something to their Grandfather, worried it was something to do with Addy’s medications being too strong or too weak or too something. She wasn’t supposed to be hurting herself and God forbid she was supposed to be doing so without notice. It would be better to do something, wouldn’t it? 

It was worrying to the point of an awful headache,

It… probably wouldn’t do much. As she stared at him all that really came to mind was how bad of an idea it was. What help would getting her in trouble do?

“Okay,” he relented, and he felt the headache leave him just as the tension dropped from his sister’s hand. “I can get a first aid kit and wrap it up, and I just won’t say anything. Deal?”

Despite something dimming in her eyes, she smiled and nodded. “Deal!”
