501st(+extra) Mando'a names! (Rex + Appo are here)
Tumblr media
same as the last one, green names are canon from the Mando'a dictionary, yellow could probably be canon, orange is a little messy and red is mostly made-up combinations that are a little so-so
Tumblr media
and like last time, I'm taking suggestions for better names if y'all have any!

Ten members of Torrent company, as well as their two Jedi, are sent on a recon mission in the mid-rim. They encounter natural disasters that leave them stranded and separated from each other. Ahsoka and Rex face an icy death while awaiting rescue. Rex is willing to sacrifice everything to protect his young commander.
~ For my first post on here, I figured I’d also share my first post on AO3. I wrote this back in December of 2022 and finally decided to do something about it in the last week. I’m really nervous about it since I’ve never written a fic or creative story before. It might be messy, might have medical inaccuracies, as well as some other things. I’m really hoping that it turned out ok and that it at least makes sense. ~

{Candy Cane Cupid}
Tumblr media
Program: Holidays come around every year with mixed emotion. Excitement buzzes as clones celebrate their first Life Day with their partners after the war. Disappointment is pushed to the back of your mind as you keep yourself busy at work while your riduur is away. Mischief is in the air when Cupid finally reveals his holiday surprise for you.
Pairing: Commander Wolffe x Bartender, GN! Reader
Genre: Hurt/Comfort
Length: 2017w
Warnings: Mention of candy cane, alcohol + club scene, bittersweet emotions around the holidays, barely edited bc my brain is v smooth from work, probs slight out of character Wolffe (see counselor note below), barely edited as usual oops
Camp Resolute Masterlist
ClonexReader Masterlist
For the lovely @sinfulsalutations - Happy fic exhange and holiday season! I hope you enjoy. ^_^ I tried to make it a lil Hallmark moment. Part of the Life Day Exchange for @cloneficgiftexchange hosted by Ghost.
Prompt: 79s For @clonexreaderbingo event hosted by Ghost.
Counselor Note: I apologize if it's not that festive or good. Been in a funk as of recently, but I had fun writing this and trying to explore Wolffe as a character more. I know he's more stoic and serious in canon, but I wanted to explore how he would balance happiness, relaxation, and the familiarity of pulling rank during post war.
Tumblr media
It seems like all of Coruscant has decided to spend the evening out amongst the city levels for holiday celebrations. Still only a year since the Clone Wars were won, everyone carries a warm happiness and joyfulness as they weave through club lines with their friends. Former troopers gather in boisterous groups outside of clubs, eagerly waiting for their first Life Day celebration. The usual clubbers are surrounded by new faces who easily share their nervousness and excitement for what the night may bring.
79s, normally vibrant with yellow and orange neon lights, now welcome tonight’s guests with more festive colored lighting and music. Even the tired club staff seem to be able to find one last bit of energy to push through the night with the holiday cheer.
The tips of your fingers sting from gripping the chilled shaker as your gaze flits across the crowd of dancers and party goers. The small semblance of hope that you kept tucked away deep in your heart slowly sizzles when you can’t find a gray battalion ribbon in the crowd of troopers. Red ribbons pack tightly into a booth as they play a game of Sabbac and try to teach their partners. Blue ribbons spread across the dance floor as they find dates for the evening. Orange ribbons stick close to the end of the bar as they share a flight of beer and stories. Not a single gray ribbon in the crowd to be found tonight. Your chest constricts, squeezing all the air out of your lungs in disappointment. The last flicker of hope fizzles and stings your heart. Hitting the shaker against the bartop harder than intended, you pour a bright blue cocktail into its glass and slide it over to a giggling patron. You watch with yearning as she’s pulled into the side of her partner, who sports a green ribbon, before they maneuver through the growing mass of people to join their friends.
“Still no sign of Wolffe?” Kiva carefully asks. Walking past you from the side entrance of the bar with a crate of seasonal beer, he squats down to the small fridge at the base of the bar shelves. He looks up at you with a concerned expression as he slides the fridge door open.
“He said he wasn’t even sure if he was going to be in the system even after Life Day,” you casually explain. Darting your tongue over your bottom lip, you shrug and turn to grab a new drink slip. Unable to meet Kiva’s all too familiar sympathetic gaze, you grab the mixers and spirits for the next order. Your heart races out of rhythm to the upbeat songs pulsing through the club. As the liquids spill into your new shaker, your stomach knots and twists leaving agony to swim through your body.
“I don’t even know why I’m bothering to look for him. The last we spoke, he and Plo Koon were just summoned to attend the peace accords on Soreno,” you breathlessly ramble. Once the final words tumbles past your lip, your throat tightens and you slam the top of the shaker shut before Kiva can reassure you.
Guilt stings the back of your neck as you shake the drink above your shoulder. The day that Wolffe shared that he was reinstated as a Marshall Commander, you immediately called for celebration. All his closest brothers and your friend group filled into a bar just down the street from your shared home. It wasn’t until the two of you fell into bed and silence separated you from Wolffe’s bliss that you realized the two of you wouldn’t have a different life after the war. Wolffe would still be systems away from you a majority of the time. The realization sank in further when he couldn’t wish you a happy birthday in person with the rest of your loved ones. A solemn understanding was made when he missed your two year anniversary to help with an aid mission. The mundane moments and memories you had hoped to create with Wolffe were nothing like the ones that your friends share of their partners' first year away from the GAR.
Not even realizing that you had slowed your actions, a gentle hand takes the shaker from yours and pours it into the glass in front of you. With a sigh, you face Kiva’s kind, understanding expression after he slides the drink over to a trooper with a yellow ribbon.
“Give him a call. Maybe you’d be surprised by the answer?” he softly encourages. Hope and mischief dance across his face while he grabs your hand to pull you away from the order line.
“Why would I do that when I already know the answer?” you tiredly push back. Fatigue and numbness wrap around your bones, and you can only stumble after Kiva out of the bar. “It’s not even my break yet for the second half. Not to sound too pessimistic, but I’d rather just work the doubles if I can’t spend the holidays with my partner”.
“Well,” Kiva exclaims, “Call me your candy cane cupid, because I have a surprise for you.” He winks and pulls you through the group of women with glittering dresses and warm sweaters.
Your heart hammers against your eardrums at Kiva’s words. “What do you mean?” you hastily ask. Kiva’s laughter mixes with the music while the two of you weave through the clusters of clones towards the CO table, a now long standing tradition at 79s even after the war. When you break through the last wall of party goers, the entire club blurs around you.
Kiva steps to your side, and the booth is empty with all but one person sitting behind the table with two glasses of Corellian whiskey. Ambient lighting dances across Wolffe’s tired expression, and you can just make out the small smile pulling at the corner of his lips. One that only makes a fleeting appearance when you’re nearby or mentioned in conversation.
“Happy Life Day,” Kiva expresses with a beaming smile, “Now go celebrate and enjoy the holiday festivities”.Before you can even thank him, Kiva shoots you a wink and disappears into the crowd once more.
You watch in disbelief as that rare smile grows across Wolffe’s face while he moves out of the booth.Without a second thought, you stumble through the last few troopers wearing gray ribbons to throw yourself into Wolffe’s arms. “I thought you said you weren’t going to be home until after the holiday,” you choke out into his chest. Warm amber and musk mix to create Wolffe’s signature cologne, and you press yourself further into his embrace. His calloused hands roam across your back leaving sparks in their wake even when separated by your clothing.
“Your friend cupid has his ways,” Wolffe chuckles. His heart hammers as he reacquaints himself with your touch. How it feels to have his riduur in his arms once more. How the sound of your voice eases every worry from his mind. How being with you feels like home. Sliding his hands to your waist, he carefully pulls you from his body to fully be able to see you. Wolffe admires the small changes in your appearance as hues of blue, gold, and purple dance across your face. For just a moment, everything feels at peace. The anxiety of moving to another system in a few cycles disappears. None of the teasing remarks from his younger brothers get under his skin. Only you matter, and all the tension from his body dissipates. “Sorry, I got distracted. How are your eyes so pretty?” he murmurs almost to himself.
“Didn’t know you could be such a sap,” you sniffle with a light laugh. “You still haven’t answered my question.”
Wolffe’s smile softens with remorse. “I know I haven’t been around as much as either of us had hoped. And I know I’ve let you down when I’ve missed important milestones for us this year. I wanted to make sure we could spend our first Life Day together,” he explains.
“I don’t want you to feel like you’ve done anything wrong,” you rush to assure him. Tears sting your lasline from the overwhelming storm of emotion raging inside you. When you move to wipe the stray tears escaping, Wolffe tenderly cups your cheek with his hand. His calloused fingertip carefully traces the planes of your face and wipes away the tear from your cheek.
“I don’t,” Wolffe reassures you. “I know that this isn’t what we had imagined for either of our lives after the war, and I don’t want us to drift apart because of that. I’m here because I need you to understand that nothing is going to stop me from coming home to you. Nothing was going to stop me from spending Life Day with you this year or any year in the future, alright?”
All the loneliness and yearning from the cycles spent alone crash down onto you. Tears freely fall down your cheeks as you tuck yourself into the crook of Wolffe’s neck. “I’ve missed you so much,” you admit. “I didn’t want to say anything, because I know how much Plo and the GAR means to you, but I’ve missed you so much.” Your voice breaks at the end of your confession, and you pull away from his body to wipe your tears from your face.
“I’ve missed you, cyar’ika. More than you could imagine,” Wolffe mumbles into the top of your head. His heart stings at your cries, and he wraps his arms around you in a tight embrace. “I’m home now. It’s going to be okay, yeah? We’re going to figure this out”.
You let Wolffe guide you into the booth, and the two of you settle into the far corner. Draping your legs over his lap, you tuck yourself into his side and look at him in adoration. “We’re both a mess without each other, huh? Have absolutely no idea what to do without the other,” you tease. Wolffe chuckles and nods after taking a sip of his whisky. He ducks his head to press his lips to the shell of your ear and whispers: “Tell anyone and we may just have to leave early.” His warm breath tickles across your neck, and he squeezes your thigh as the rest of the Wolfpack join you with their partners.
For the first time during the holiday season, you’re able to sink into Wolffe’s arms and enjoy the company around you. Not a single member of the pack or their partners neglect to see how you’ve been. Plans begin to easily come into creation to squeeze in a few more holiday outings for you and Wolffe to join. A glimpse of the life that you hoped to create with Wolffe after the war finally playing out. Yet, it wouldn’t have happened if it weren’t where you were currently at in life.
During a bout of laughter, you look over to Wolffe and find him already gazing at you with that all too familiar smile tugging at his lips. You cup his jaw and press a fleeting kiss to the corner of his mouth. Pulling away, the two of you share a look of adoration before sharing a soft kiss in the privacy of your own world. The two of you fall into rhythm with each other as if no time had passed. Lost in the moment, it’s not until his brothers start to howl and their partners tell them to leave you and Wolffe alone that the two of you break from the kiss.
“Mind your damn business,” Wolffe barks back to his snickering brothers. “How many times did I turn a blind eye to when you brought back your cy’are to the barracks?” Instantly the snickers silence as the older brothers laugh at the young clones.
Rolling his eyes as the conversation redirects to tomorrow’s outing, Wolffe pulls you closer into his side. Pressing a tender kiss to your temple, he rests his forehead against yours. “Happy Life Day, riduur”.

So, throughout the series Autotroopers have frequently appear, and as many of you know based on Stone depictions of my madness (and the funny trend of issues), I love clones! So it’s unsurprising some Autotroopers are references to certain clones... so let’s tackle them!
Tumblr media
Seen in the minicomic Six Lasers and a Flame, A/T 501/7213 “Mixer” was a trooper who fought under Captain “Rex” during the Ultracon Conflict, before taking on a security role in Iacon... leading to an unfortunate encounter with Lowload as he chased some kids about.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Appearing in A War of Ideals, members of the 41st Legion, A/T 41/1206 “Draa” (top) and AT 41/1207 “Buzz” (bottom) were members of the only Autotrooper units attached to the Animos System and its surrounding Maximal systems. They were part of a small detachment accompanying the Maximal Academy to Acadeimos for the Festival of the Stars, working alongside the other present units during the event.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Appearing in Festival of the Stars having to escort Daytrader out of the stadium, AT 501/5407 “Dogma” and AT 501/5385 “Tup” were fresh recruits to the 501st, begin parts of Rex’s battalion that accompanied Chromia in preparation for the Festival of the Stars.
Tumblr media
Appearing in Unknown Animal, AT 08/1010 Commander “Fox” is the dislikeable commanding officer of the Acadeimos Guard, the Autotrooper garrison already stationed on Autobot Academy, personally operating from the Academies’ main campus, and begrudgingly working under Chromia during the build-up to the Festival of the Stars. At one point, he was charged with escorting the Decepticons Charger, Reverb and the Tankor units “Barrel” and “Trundle” after they were arrested using captured talented mechanimals.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The former appearing during Return to Autobot Academy, A/M 5555 (formerly A/T 501/5555) Corporal “Fives” and A/M 1409 (formerly A/T 501/1409) Corporal “Echo” are a pair of Magni Autotroopers. Originally part of the 501st during the Ultracon Conflict, they were recommended by their C.O. “Rex” to be retrained and rearmoured as Magni Autotroopers. They were later reunited with their former battalion when they were seconded to Chromia’s unit on Acadeimos in preparation for the Festival of the Stars. Both fought during the Siege, and “Fives” had the honour of carrying the restrained Megatron onto his own personal prison transport.
Don’t expect me to stop these cameos now. Be afraid. Be very, very afraid.
Ciao, Dev~

Sticky Fingers (One-Shot)
In which Hondo Ohnaka (accidentally) saves the galaxy far, far away.
Word count: 8,223
--------------------------------
Hondo is not, in all technicality, invited to this event.
Hondo is also, in all technicality, not turned away at the door.
That’s the sort of thing that happens when you come in on the arm of a very rich and very powerful executive. Hondo won’t claim to know what it is that she does—that’s how a man loses fingers—but she’d thought it quite the grand joke to bring famed and endlessly charming Hondo Ohnaka to a political mixer! He does belong, he assures everyone. He knows plenty of wealthy politicians, including on the other side of the war. Why, he’s captured Dooku himself, before!
He’s fairly certain the clones are giving him dirty looks from behind their helmets. Alas, he cannot see them. He recalls they are handsome fellows, and takes a chance to flirt with one.
The trooper directs him to the buffet.
A pity.
Hondo entertains himself, nonetheless. He speaks with everyone! He dances! None are safe from his endless wit and seductive gyrations. He speaks with diplomats! He speaks with senators! He speaks with capitalists, and their fake-smiled wives!
He also steals from them.
It is, of course, not the great Hondo’s fault. He is simply, ehhhh… sticky-fingered! A lifetime of habit, to be sure. His dear mother did teach him so very well.
Hondo fills his pockets. There are rings slipped from fingers and credits galore. Some of the politicians are even carrying datasticks, as though planning to exchange information at this wondrous event! How absolutely naughty. Even Hondo is ashamed for them. Perhaps he ought to call their parents.
After a certain point, Hondo isn’t even paying attention to what he’s taking anymore. He is very quick about it, and almost anything he can slip from these people is either very expensive, or very incriminating, or very tasty. He has admittedly grabbed their plates as often as their wallets, when distracted.
He is, after all, but a humble pirate! His stomach, it hungers.
Hondo continues the night that way, and he may take advantage to slip little things into drinks. What can he say? He likes an easy mark. If they hadn’t wanted him stealing everything but the clothes on their backs (and even some of those), they wouldn’t have let him in the door. He even gets the Chancellor!
Hondo knows that he is good at what he does, but this place should really have better security for the head of state. He’ll let Kenobi know. He owes it to his friend to let him know about the gaping opportunities.
He slips past the Chancellor, gripping him by the forearms as he tells a wild story that is only somewhat untrue, and comes away with something that feels hard and complicated and expensive. He slips whatever it is in his coat and moves on to his next target. The Chancellor doesn’t even notice! Perhaps he is, after all, going as senile as the papers say. Hondo decides he doesn’t believe that, because he likes the fact that he got one over the man, and that’s more impressive if the Chancellor is mentally capable (except for the drugs Hondo put in his drink).
Hondo slips into the bathroom—legally, no cameras!—and looks upon his many findings. There are credits! There are jewels! There are incriminating things!
There is a lightsaber.
Hondo looks at it.
Hondo holds it, and passes his mind over the past several hours, and thinks that only one of his lifts had quite this feeling.
Perhaps this is better handled by someone who is not Hondo.
He is far too pretty to die by the Chancellor’s hands, yes?

Ghosts || The Bad Batch x Reader AU
Summary: A personal AU of mine where Hunter can see ghosts based on the idea that animals can see spirits when humans can't. Reader is the former medic of the 501st.
Warnings: Mentions of death and blood. Mentions of drinking to cope. Swearing. Angst.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You lay in your bunk, hands shaking. The Batch had landed on the heavily besieged planet of Hyrus and you’d immediately been drafted as a field medic. That was a mistake. You should have stayed with your squad.
It was complete carnage. Plastoid littered the ground like broken glass, clones dropped like flies. The air was thick with dust and the smell of blood.
More than once you’d been forced to choke down bile when you came across a body. But you pushed through. You saved as many as you could and lost three times more.
It was like Umbara all over again.
Now, three days later, settled peacefully on Coruscant, you couldn’t stop from trembling every time you closed your eyes.
Those clones, those men, those wonderful soldiers, they looked like your boys. Of course they did. They were all brothers. But it didn’t change the fact that as life left their eyes you saw every person that you failed to save.
You shook yourself, reaching for your datapad to check your time. Another mistake. The first things that came up were group pictures of the 501st, at varying times.
The first one was of you, Rex, Jesse, Kix, Hardcase, Redeye, Mixer, Fives, and Echo. It was shortly before the attack on Kamino that would see Fives and Echo promoted to ARC troopers. And just before the deaths of Redeye and Mixer.
You didn’t know them well, but they were kind. Redeye would bring you caf on long shifts and Mixer always had a comment to make under his breath that would make you laugh.
The second picture was just after Fives and Echo’s promotion. You were standing between the two, your arms over their shoulders and theirs behind your back as you grinned at the camera. Rex had taken that picture if you remembered correctly.
And then Echo had made him dip his hand in blue paint and slap it against his new chestplate. You remembered the look of amusement on the Captain’s face well as Echo held up the paint bucket teasingly.
That handprint was gone now, replaced by the signature skull of the Bad Batch. Fives was gone too.
You should’ve put the datapad down by now. But you couldn’t.
Another photo, this one of the boys in the civvies you bought for them. It was before Umbara, around the time Dogma and Tup joined your little group. You were at 79s, in a booth. Rex was watching with a soft smile as Jesse teased Tup. Kix was approaching with shots. Somehow, Fives had managed to coax you onto his lap and had promptly latched onto you. Hardcase was beside him, mid speech as you laughed. Dogma was the only one not smiling, looking rather uncomfortable out of armor.
This was the last time you were all together like this. And the knowledge of that hurt. It hurt so much.
You looked at your datapad with hollow eyes, a heavy feeling settling in your bones and an ache in your heart. Gently you traced a finger over your missing boys’ faces. “I dream of you almost every night. Hopefully, I won’t wake up this time.”
Jaw set and eyes fighting against tears, you stood and pulled on your vambrance and chestplate. You didn't spare the cockpit a glance as you left the Marauder, flagging down the nearest taxi-speeder, comlink tucked into your belt and vibroblade in your boot.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~(***)~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You were definitely drunk, Hunter could tell. You staggered onto the Marauder at three in the morning, smelling like booze and tears, giggling when you tripped over a wrench.
The ghosts that normally followed you around -ghosts of clones that looked at you with love in their eyes- were barely there, unable to draw energy from your drunken self.
The most prominent one, the only clone out of the group with a beard tried to guide you, but when his hands passed through your shoulders he gave his brothers a despairing look.
“Where have you been?” Crosshair asked and you jerked, looking at him with hazy eyes.
“Why do you need to know?” You shot back, words slurred.
“You’ve been gone for hours,” Echo said. “We were worried.”
The clone ghost with the beard gave him the same loving look he usually reserved for you.
“I made it back didn’t I?” You scoffed. “No need for all this fuss, Hardcase.”
Echo flinched and so did one of the ghosts.
“Where’s Kix? Or Rex?” You asked, looking at the Batch like they weren’t truly there. “I gotta tell them I’m hammered. So they know to leave out the caf and pills.”
“Captain Rex is not here,” Tech said. “And I think you need to go to bed. You appear to be experiencing drunken delusions.”
You barked a laugh, but it wasn’t like your usual laugh. This laugh was pained and bitter. “Go to bed, that’s a riot.”
You squinted at him. “Which one are you again? Nevermind. I’m perfectly fine. Well, I’m not, but at this point, anything’s better than kriffing sleeping.”
Tears had suddenly filled up your eyes and the faded ghost with the teardrop tattoo drew closer to you.
“I can’t keep doing this,” You whispered, swaying on your feet. “Every time I close my eyes they’re there and when I wake up they’re gone again. And it hurts.”
The tears were slipping down your cheeks now. “It hurts so much.”
You looked up at Hunter, eyes pleading. “Why won’t it stop hurting? Make it stop, please.”
Then your eyes drooped shut and you fell face-first to the floor. Luckily, the long-haired clone moved fast enough to catch you before you broke your nose on the cold metal.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~(***)~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You woke up with an aching head, wrapped in blankets, chest plate lying on the floor, and arm bracers at the foot of the bunk. You didn’t remember taking them off. Hell, you didn’t even remember getting in bed.
Groaning, you raised yourself up. The gray walls spun for a moment and you shivered in the cold recycled air.
You glanced at the other bunk, Echo’s. It was empty and you picked up your vambrace to check the time.
It was technically late in the afternoon and you winced. You were supposed to take a shift in the cockpit at 9 cycles.
Unsteadily, you swung your legs over the edge of the bunk and stood, moving to the cabinet to retrieve a loose pair of pants and a faded red top. You needed to use the fresher and badly.
On your way out of your room, you knocked back the small cup of water and pills that had been left out for you.
The door to Crosshair and Tech’s bunk was open when you stepped into the hall and you could feel the sniper’s gaze on your skin.
Languidly, the tall clone moved to lean on the wall of the corridor, subtly blocking your path. “Care to explain last night?”
You squinted at him. Vaguely, you remembered getting drunk, unable to cope with the recurring pain of losing your boys, but after the 3rd vodka mixer, things got a little fuzzy.
“No.” You said, determining that to be a good answer. If you’d done anything dumb, you didn’t particularly care to relive it.
Crosshair raised his brows. “No?”
“That’s what I said. Now if you’ll excuse me,” You nudged him aside, continuing your journey to the fresher.
As you closed the door, you saw the look the sniper gave you. Not quite sympathetic or sad, Cross could never be described as something like that, but it still felt concerned.
You rested the back of your head on the door, inhaling deeply. The headache was receding, but your brain still felt fuzzy.
You pushed yourself up, dropping your clothing on the tiny counter and sparing a quick glance in the mirror.
Unsurprisingly, you looked exactly how you felt. Messy and worn out.
Your hair was a borderline rat’s nest and the dark circles that had started forming beneath your eyes were more prominent than ever. Your eyeliner was smudged around your eyes as well, adding to the roughed-up raccoon look.
A chill ran down your spine then, like someone had pressed a cold fingertip to your spine and unconsciously you found yourself peeking over your shoulder.
No one was there, but when you glanced back at the mirror your eyes fell on the form of a lean male standing just behind you.
“Fuck!” You shrieked, jerking back into the fresher wall with a loud slam.
Fresh pain spread up the back of your skull, but the form of the man behind you in the mirror didn’t change. In fact, it seemed to clear, enough for you to make out the sight of blue lines running along the figure’s skull and kind gold irises.
You raised a hand to scrub at your eyes disbelievingly.
“Hardcase?” You breathed and the man in the mirror grinned at you.
Hey Pretty. He mouthed and you pressed the back of your hand to your lips to stifle a low sob. “This isn’t real. I’m still dreaming. Or drunk.”
Hardcase shook his head and placed a hand on your shoulder. The same chill you felt on your spine returned and when you tried to raise your hand to cover his own, it just passed through.
“How-“ You started to ask but Echo’s voice came from outside the fresher and made you jump and jerk your head towards the door.
“Mesh’la?” He asked. “Are you alright in there?”
“I’m-“ You paused and looked back at the mirror. Hardcase was gone and so was the lingering chill on your shoulder. “I’m fine.”
Alone Together, Part One
Tumblr media
PAIRING: Pre-Fives x Fem!Reader.
WARNINGS: Drinking/Alcohol Use, Vaguely Depressed Reader, Mentions of War
Author's Note:
Full disclosure: I have never posted any kind of writing here on tumblr. I haven't really even used tumblr much. I also have never written in second person or written a reader insert. Oh well. I got inspired, I wrote a thing, voila here it is. Any comments, critiques, etc are welcome. Be aware this was written completely on mobile. Things may be a hot mess. (Edit 3/30/22: I have gone through and edited formatting slightly on desktop. It should no longer be a hot mess express. I also changed the reader’s nickname to one I think is better.)
Additional note: Lyrics and title are from Fall Out Boy- Alone Together. There is a part two sort of planned.
Edit 03/30/22: Part 2 posted
Part 3
I don't know where you're going But do you got room for one more troubled soul?
He met you in a bar. Not 79's because that wasn't a place for civilians unless they were the working type trying to pick up the troopers as tricks for the night. Why he made it all the way to Loto's on the lower levels of Coruscant is a question you'll probably never get a straight answer to. But go there he did.
You were seated on the far end of the bar, a glass of nameless brown liquor in front of you. The bartender, Ania, hadn't told you the name of it, just that it was one of the strongest they stocked. She knew you too well, having met you several times when you stopped by between your deployments with the Civilian Relief Corps. Another sip was burning its way down your throat when someone took the seat to your left. A glance from the corner of your eye was enough for you to tell that it was a clone, one with a small five tattooed on his temple. He had facial hair, trimmed into a neat goatee and his hair was regulation.
"A Drelian mixer, please," he ordered, smiling at Ania as she nodded and left to make it for him.
You couldn't stop the snort that escaped when you overheard his order. Of course a member of the GAR would have one of the sweetest, least alcoholic drinks in existence.
He turned a bit towards you, arching an eyebrow. "Something funny, Miss?"
"Not a thing, trooper." You smiled and shook your head. "Your drink choice just caught me off guard."
His eyes widened in mock offense. "What's wrong with my drink?"
You made a face, raising your own glass for another gulp "Too damn sweet."
"That's why I like it though."
You shrugged, "To each their own I guess. I'll stick to the stronger stuff thanks."
Ania placed his bright red drink down on the bar, glancing at you. "Need another babe?"
You swirled the remainder of yours, considering. "Sure love. On my tab please."
"You got it." The twi'lek turned away again.
He's still looking at you. "I take it you're a regular?"
You nod. "I come here more than I probably should."
You're both silent for a few moments. Ania puts your next drink down and you nod your thanks at her. He breaks the silence once she leaves again.
"My name is Fives."
You consider for a moment, "Everyone calls me Mini. You can too."
He makes a face. "Mini?"
You laugh, a real one. "Yeah, I'm pretty small. My head probably only makes it to your armpit if we stand up."
He laughs too. It's a nice laugh you decide.
"What are you doing down here instead of at 79's? You decide to ask.
He shrugs. "I dunno. Wanted a change of scenery and a chance to meet some new people I guess."
"Fair enough." You raise your new glass in a mock toast and toss half back in one go.
"How about you?" He asks, taking a gulp of his own.
You don't want to tell him the truth, at least not all of it. It's a buzzkill to tell strangers that you drink between deployments in an attempt to forget the things you've seen. You go for a half truth. "I'm between deployments for the CRC."
"CRC?" He asks, confused. "I haven't heard of that."
"That's not surprising. Not many people know about the Civilian Relief Corps unless we're on their planet to help out or they meet a recruiter."
He's turned sideways on his bar stool now so he faces you. You aren't sure, but he seems genuinely interested.
"What does the CRC do?"
You hesitate to answer. "A lot of things."
"Come on." He rolls his eyes. "What kind of things?"
"Do you want the party line or the reality?" You ask, mood dropping. You didn't usually like to talk about the things you saw and did during CRC deployment.
He seems to pick up on that and considers for a moment before he answers. "I'd like to hear the reality, if you're willing to share."
"We provide a lot of aid to people impacted by the war. Whether that means food, medical supplies, help searching rubble for survivors; whatever needs doing so they can keep surviving. Sometimes it means providing aid under fire, or on Separatist controlled planets."
He doesn't say anything for a long moment. You take another sip, draining the last of the liquid in your glass to cover your discomfort. This is why you generally preferred to drink alone.
"I'm glad someone is there to help," he finally says. "I always wondered what happened after we left."
You breathe a silent sigh of relief. "We do what we can."
You glance at the time displayed on your wrist and curse. You've stayed later than you meant to.
"I have to go Fives," you say, standing up and placing enough credits on the bar top to cover your drinks plus his and a decent tip. "My group is deploying again in a few hours."
He stands too and seems a little startled to see that you were right about the height difference. The top of your head barely makes the middle of his chest.
"When will you be back on Coruscant?" He asks, falling in at your side to walk with you towards the door of the dive bar.
"I'm not sure," you reply as the two of you step out into the nightlife of the lower levels. "This one might be a while. When on Coruscant again, you can always ask Ania if I'm around."
He stops, hand stroking his goatee as he thinks. His eyes light up. "What if I gave you my comm code?"
At the look on your face he backpedals "Nothing serious! I was just hoping to keep in touch since you're really the first person outside of the GAR who didn't treat me differently because I'm a clone."
He grins and adds "Plus you probably have some wicked stories to share."
You can't help it, you laugh. He's right, you do have some rather wild stories. "Sure Fives," you say once you stop giggling.
He rattles off his private comm code, watching as you key it into yours. Another check of the time and you tell him "I'll be in touch soon."
On impulse, you throw your arms around him in a hug. He's so broad your arms don't quite touch in the back, but his chest feels nice under your cheek. Maybe too nice. He hugs you back, easily circling your small body. You pull back after a moment, looking up at him. There's something in his golden eyes you can't quite identify, but you don't think too hard about it.
Turning on your heel to head for your transport, you toss him a mock salute.
"Bye Fives!"
"Bye Mini!"
Note
here I go again humbly asking you to bless us with your beautiful writing ❤️
what about some shameless flirting with Fives? 👀 maybe meeting him for the first time at 79’s or somewhere else, doesn’t really matter. my love for him has awakened once again and I need some fuel ⛽️❤️
Ah, I love Fives! The first man I ever loved. Darling man is a big time flirter, but he is, in no way, as smooth as he thinks
Tumblr media
Fives slid out of the booth, hurrying up to the bar. He leaned on it, grinning, waving back at Jesse. "Yeah, yeah." He chuckled. "Can't believe I'm getting drinks tonight." He mumbled, but he couldn't wipe the grin on his face. That would be the last time he made any kind of bet against Jesse. The man was just too damn good.
Fives knocked lightly on the counter. “Barkeep,” He teased. When she looked sideways at him, he was taken aback for a moment by the witty, snarky smile on her lips. The wind returned to his lungs, and his lip curled upwards. “Well, pardon me, I didn’t know 79′s hired models.”
“And I didn’t know clones were so horny.” She chuckled, grabbing a metal mixer.
“Not quite, ma’am, just delighted to revel in such beauty.” Fives leaned on the counter, delighted that he had chosed to not change out of his ARC gear. “And those pretty hands get to fix me a drink.” He flashed his most charming smile.
“Mm,” She grinned, picking up a liquid from under the bar and pouring it into the mixer. “These pretty hands can also shoot.”
Fives gasped in teasing delight, followed by a salacious laugh. “And a lovely mouth to threaten me with. I like that in a woman.”
The bartender laughed, closing the lid and shaking the drink. “ARC Trooper...?”
“Fives. And I can see your nametag, love, but I would love you to say it.”
She laughed, rolling her eyes. “Well, Fives, how about you tell me your poison? Aside from pretty women.”
"Smart-mouthed ones." Fives grinned, watching her unscrew the lid on the mixer. "And you seem to be both."
She hummed, a smile of amusement curling on her lips. "I'll tell you what, Fives." She poured the liquid into a few glasses, sliding them on a tray to him. "These are on the house. You take them to your friends over here, come back, and keep saying more stuff like that, and you might get even more of this mouth."
The ARC trooper's grim split wide open, and he stood, picking up the tray. "With pleasure." He purred, turning and strutting towards his brothers at the table. He would have to tell them to not wait up for him, and then he had some unfinished business to deal with.
Chapter One
Hound I
"So, are we going to 79's tonight?" Hound asked. He had meant to be subtle about it, but the question burst out of him the moment his well-worn boots crossed the threshold of the small break space allotted to members of the Coruscant Guard.
As break spaces went, the one designated for the Coruscant Guard's clone troopers was an embarrassment. Some determined being had managed to cram a table and a handful of chairs inside, but it was a tight fit. If more than a few fully armored troopers went inside at the same time, none of them would get back out without removing some armor to clear the traffic jam. The lights flickered, the faucet leaked, the floor was always sticky, and the stuffy air held a hint of the chemicals that had been stored there years ago. Since then, the previous break space had been renovated into an office for one of the few nat-born commanding officers and this one had been created for the clone troopers.
Still, the smell of caf was stronger than the smell of chemicals most days and the light from a nearby advertisement screen lit the room so brightly that the flickering lights didn't give any of the troopers a migraine anymore. Hound always was a man who liked to see the glass as half-full. Maybe even a little more than half, if that glass was sitting under the dripping faucet.
Thire snorted at Hound's question, leaning back in his chair until gravity threatened to topple him. "Well, boys? Hound wants to know if we're going to 79's this lovely Friday evening. What do we think?"
Thorn glanced around the room, looking unamused by his brother's antics. "We think I'm the only other one here, di'kut."
"Exactly!" Thire said in triumph, obviously determined to ignore his fellow commander. "It's the weekend! Why wouldn't we go to 79's?"
"Because you've finally realized that it's a glorified zoo?" Thorn snapped, tone venomous. "79's is where civvies go to stare at clone troopers so they can feel like they're being daring. In reality, they're being irritating."
Having spoken his piece, Thorn tossed back the last of his cup of caf, always consumed as dark as his mood. Hound shuddered at the thought. Corrie Guard caf was brewed at the approximate concentration of speeder fuel and could eat through duracrete. Only a trooper who hated himself would drink it black.
Thorn always drank it black.
"So you don't want to go?" Hound asked again, sounding heartbroken.
"No, I'll go," Thorn told him. "Zoo or not, 79's still has the cheapest booze on Coruscant that doesn't use poison as a mixer."
"Well, that's the most excited I've heard Thorn get about anything for a week, at least," Thire smirked. "Commander Fox, you want in on this?"
The Head Commander of the Coruscant Guard, having just stepped into the break room to fill his mug with caf, shook his head. "No, I'm on duty tonight. The Clone Rights group has been cleared to march and the Chancellor wants an extra Guard presence. Stone will be stuck here as well, monitoring any new arrivals."
"Ugh," Hound said, summarizing everyone else's point of view. "Well, we'll be thinking of you both, Commander."
Fox lowered the datapad in his hand to shoot a look in Hound's direction. "Sergeant, don't you have that ARF PR stunt tomorrow at 0800?"
Hound shrugged. "Yeah, but I can do both."
"Make sure you don't miss it," Fox ordered sternly. "The last thing I need is to have to report to the Chancellor that you missed a chance to give the GAR a boost in civil opinion."
Hound saluted and Fox turned his attention to the other break room occupants. "Thorn, if you let your stubble get any longer, it'll be considered a beard and subject to facial hair regulations. Thire, sit on the chair like a normal being, would you?"
Thorn nodded and Thire grinned as he let the chair's legs slam onto the floor. Fox rolled his eyes at their antics, refilled his cup of caf, and left the break area. Hound idly wondered how many of the gray hairs appearing at the Head Commander's temples were due to the commanding officer team. Still, the Chancellor had let Fox choose his own team of COs, so there was no one to blame but himself.
"Meet at 2100?" Thire asked. "That's prime time for 79's and there'll be plenty of talent. I'll go ahead and apologize, vode. When you look this good, you automatically get your pick of the females."
Thire brushed a hand back across his hair - meticulously trimmed to maintain the subtle horizontal lines shaved into the otherwise regulation cut - and grinned at the other two. Hound and Thire rolled their eyes, but agreed anyway.
Kai I
"Hey, do you guys want to go to 79's tonight?" Kai asked, perched on the desk she was supposed to be sitting behind. She was always restless and neither of the other women blamed her for the odd choice of seat - even though it made inter-desk communication a bit of a pain.
Arkularia - who, for the sake of Kai's sanity, allowed the others to call her 'Ark' - was the first to respond. "79's? The clone bar?"
"Do you want to drink, dance, or find a one-night stand?" Ransom asked from behind her expansive tech setup. "Because there are better places for any of those. Closer, too."
"No, I want to go to 79's," Kai said, kicking up her chin. "And as for what I want… I want all of them. All three options, please and thank you."
"Did you just try to order a night out? Like from a menu?" Ransom asked. From the tone of her voice, Kai had managed to earn a rare smile from her boss. Of course, that was only a guess since Ransom didn't emerge from her den so Kai could verify the expression.
"No… but can you imagine how much easier that would be?" Kai asked in her own defense.
"It would take some of the fun out of it, I think," Ark said slowly.
Kai chucked a wad of flimsi at her friend and co-worker's head, cheering to herself as it connected and bounced off of Ark's white-blonde hair. "I know that, Ark! C'mon guys, do you want to come to 79's with me or not?"
"I'm out," Ransom said immediately, shutting down the projector option on her desk. She was still illuminated by the ambient light from the schematics on her datapad. The cybernetic implants in Ransom's arm gleamed in the blue glow as she dragged a hand over her shaved head. "I have to work late if we have any hope of finishing our next job on time."
"Ark?" Kai asked, not too proud to sound like she was begging.
Ark sighed, pale eyes hopeless in the face of Kai's wheedling. "Fine, I'll go along."
"Yes!"
"Ransom, are you sure you can't come, too?" Ark asked, her voice a bit desperate.
"I really do have to stay and work on this," Ransom apologized, gesturing at her assortment of datapads. "My condolences."
"We're going to a club, not facing a firing squad!" Kai admonished. "Besides, I just want to find someone fun."
"Like that last guy?" Ark asked, squinting a bit as she applied her prodigious memory to her own question. "What was his name?"
"Not sure," Kai admitted. "But he was so much fun! Great tattoos."
"So you are looking for a hookup! I knew it," Ransom crowed.
Ark frowned. "Why a clone trooper? They're never on-planet for long before they have to leave."
"Exactly," Kai said with a wink. "Love 'em and leave 'em."
"Didn't the last one stick around for a while? I thought I remembered seeing him more than a few times…" Ark pondered.
"Hardcase! His name was Hardcase," Ransom remembered. "He came by every day of his leave."
"Strange name," Ark commented.
"Strange guy," Ransom said with a shrug.
"But he was hot," Kai countered, folding a piece of flimsi to look like a tooka. At least it did in her imagination. "And so much fun. I need another someone like him."
"What happened to him?" Ark asked curiously.
Kai would have blushed if she had any shame - too bad for Coruscant that she didn't. Instead, she pouted. "He moved on with a Zeltron who works at GAR headquarters. That's the best place to meet troopers, but they don't give access to civilians unless they have official business."
"Hardcase didn't seem like the type to ghost you out of nowhere," Ransom mused.
"I… may have freaked out about him asking me to be his girlfriend," Kai admitted. "I don't want anything serious, you know? Besides, I'm the one who introduced him to the new girl. She's a sweetheart. He adores her and she's the same about him. Can't be too upset with that."
Ark and Ransom exchanged loaded glances, but Kai had no interest in a therapy session. "Right! So, Ransom, you're still out?"
"I have no interest in coming along and I have work to do here."
"Well, that was almost nice," Kai congratulated. "Ark, it's you and me. When should we go?"
Ark shrugged. "Why don't we just stop there on the way home from work?"
"Are you kidding?" Kai asked, aghast at the idea. "We aren't exactly wearing Senatorial dress, but we're still too professional for a club! No, we need to go home, change, and meet there. How long do you need?"
"I don't know… half an hour?"
"How long do you need to find an outfit that makes sense in a club setting?" Kai rephrased her question.
"Two hours," Ark corrected herself, sounding sheepish.
"That's more like it," Kai said, satisfied. Her look turned wicked as she said, "Now, let's talk about makeup…"
"Are you sure you don't need any help here, Ransom?" Ark asked their boss, her eyes widening with hidden significance.
"No, it's too late!" Kai denied. "Meet me at my apartment and I'll help you. Let's say eight."
Ark glanced back at Ransom, who gave a sympathetic shrug. Ark sighed. "Fine, eight."
---
A/N - Hello, and welcome to yet another Clone Wars-based story! I can't leave these poor guys alone. They deserve so much more than they got! So, you may have noticed that some of the characters are a bit different from the way they are normally portrayed in fan fiction. The first fic I read with the Coruscant Guard had Thire as a happy joking guy and Thorn as a serious doom-and-gloom trooper. I'm coming to realize that is not typical for fanon interpretations, but those characterizations are embedded in my mind. I hope you didn't find this too jarring!
I'm experimenting with a new Game of Thrones-style POV tracking format. Hopefully that will keep things from getting too confusing as we bounce back and forth across eight different POVs! I apologize for the short length of this chapter, but it's just a simple introduction of (most of) the characters.
