Have you dreamt recently? If yes, was it good or bad?

Well, I did have the weirdest lucid dream ever after the weird 'heart-stopped corpse case' happened. I dreamed that I was busy walking around Paris when I was suddenly attacked by monsters. They shot lasers, and they looked like four-legged spiders, but metallic and with all sorts of alien details.

I held them off perfectly fine with my soccer ball, thankfully, but others weren't so lucky. They had to hide in the buildings. Some of them were even hit by the lasers. What's worse is the that the corpse was in my dream, only he was alive and well. He tried to keep my older sister alive (She was also handling the monsters just fine until some of them got a few laser hits in), but he got in the crossfire between her and three of them. He was practically gunned down like in AKIRA. We then huddled inside of some boarding school to keep ourselves alive. However, a monster broke in a few minutes after. The kid who sent me a meme a while back basically took a bullet for me and I was pinned to a wall by another monster. The dream was so harrowing and it felt so real, I thought I was going to actually die. Then they suddenly went silent. And then I was blasted with white and I woke up screaming. My older sister thought I had gone nuts. But you guys want to know the weird part of it is? The beginning of the dream was around the exact moment IRL when the heart-stopped guy dropped dead. I think I need therapy...or just a vacation.

TL;DR: In which Rei has constant nightmares but always had someone to cuddle him to sleep. He realizes that he and Akai aren't on that level but he's the only one available and Rei doesn't want to have a panic attack til morning. So yeah.

Cuddle Bug AU:

- Rei always had someone to cuddle him to sleep after nightmares

- the first time was when he dreamt of being abandoned by his parents, then woke up crying in his bunk bed

- one of the older kids was awake, calmed him down and hugged him to sleep because she knew what it was like

- Rei stuck with her all the way until she got adpoted

- (later Rei ran into her again while in the Academy and they kept in touch since)

- this trend continues with various people he could depend on at the time: his caretaker, some of his foster guardians, sometimes Akemi and Elena when he was in their clinic, and obviously, the zero squad.

- most notably date and hiro because date's massive and gives good hugs and hiro is cuddle size and rei feels safe with them

- blah blah blah, cannon happens, blah blah blah

- hes destroyed everytime each and every one of them got killed, and eventually he would either curl up into a ball after a nightmare having a silent panic attack til morning, or just goes to the closest cuddle buddy he has

- which most of the time is hiro, because hes like the only guy closest to him that hasnt died yet

- on days where he couldnt reach hiro rei would just go to his first cuddle buddy in the middle of the night and she'd hug him to sleep that way

- (she never complains, she has a boyfriend who's in the military and knows what kind of nightmares it gives people)

- (they got engaged and her fiance found out about rei, and was extremely understanding and became another one of his cuddle buddies too)

- (rei feels guilty of course, since hes intruding on their home and personal space, but they honestly dont mind. fiance guy was an only child and never had a sibling, and obvs fiance girl saw him as a sibling.)

- this continues trend continues even in the BO, and surprisingly, Curacao and Kir got added to the cuddle buddy list

- (Vermouth is an honorary member, depending on her mood)

- but rei still sticks with hiro most of the time tho

- (btw he told his now-married cuddle buddies that hes going undercover and he wont be able to reach them for their safety)

- (their worried of course, but rei asked kazami to keep them in the loop and kazami was like, - 'my best boss/friend actually finding a healthy coping mech and has someone to depend on? fuck yeah ofc i would.')

- rye was confused as to why scotch would always worry over bourbon whenever he's away on a mission when bourbon is the guy youd never worry about

- but then rye stumbled upon bourbon hiding in a corner when scotch's not home, eyes wide, shaking and crying silently and it physically pains him to watch it

- so yeah rye is added to the cuddle buddy list but under the emergency only category that featured giant, bold, red letters with underline and italics

- which puts him under even Curacao, Vermouth and Kir but rei actually trusts them to some degree and hes confident he can outrun them for a while

- but rye? the guy that could put a bullet to your head from ten skyscapers away?

- yeah no thanks

- Rei's utterly crushed when hiro offed himself

- look hes smart, he knows that angle the bullet was in couldnt have hit hiro from where ryes standing, but he just lost his best friend and closest cuddle buddy and somebody just happened to be a convient scape goat

- Rei runs to couple cuddle buddies to cry after that, and the two of them plus their 5 year old twins cuddled with Rei in the family convo pit thats converted into a giant pillow fort

- timeskip to current timeline

- the detective boys are added to the cuddle buddy list, so is ai (she has Rei in her list too, cuz they both understood what it feels like (plus theyve made up a long time ago)), masumi and ran (kogoro didnt like it at first and outright kicked our poor boy out when ran hugged him, but got torn into a new one by ran, conan and our cuddle family. added to the list soon after when rei came to find ran but she was away and he couldnt watch this baby-faced kid having a panic attack because hey, dad senses.)

- time skip to a few months later

- rei and akai are basically very reluctant allies (on rei's side) and very much made up besties (on akai's)

- FBI and PSB issued stakeout

- surprise surprise nightmare strikes again

- so rei had no other option but to use akai because he isnt in the mood to have a panic attack til morning, nor could he afford to

- was gonna criticize akai for being a shit cuddler but unfortunately, our tall and thin as a stick boy here was actually on date's-level of comfortness

- so yeah, rei came by to him more often since he's just geographically closest to him, and he knows he cant always bother the mouris or agasa and ai during the night since the kids have school

- akai on the other hand doesnt go to school, even if okiya subaru was required too

- and rei basically moved in every night

- yeah they are practically dating by now

- i mean, rei taking over the cooking since he insisted on thanking akai and would not condem himself to eating okiya subaru's barely edible curry 24/7?

- akai buying extra pillows and blankets for rei since he knows our blondie still gets cold at night?

- rei making coffee for akai in the morning?

- akai dragging a dusty old futon from the kudou's back closet for rei to sleep in, plus washing and cleaning it during the day for him?

- rei having a bag of work clothes over at the kudou mansion since he lives there at night and needs to go to work in the morning?

- akai dognapping haro because he read that dogs get lonely at night if they dont have their owners nearby on reddit and because he knows that rei always worries about the white fluff ball even when he cant think straight?

- them both getting each gifts on holidays and their birthdays?

- eventually cuddling in front of the tv and watching a show or movie together while spooning with a bowl of popcorn in the middle of the night?

- cheek kisses? forehead kisses? hair ruffles? courtesy of akai?

- rei basically cleaning the house from head to toe one night because he deemed akai's sniper nest to be uninhabbitable?

- comfort foods for each other well stocked in the fridge? borrowing the others coats and jackets to sleep in when the other's not home?

I was watching the movie that expands on the first episode called the Great detective turned small like the case at the very beginning and why Gin and Vodka were there. We even have scenes for Amuro, Chianti and Korn and Kir gets a little cameo as a reporter who talks about Shinichi in the beginning of the first episode

But anyways back to my point. I love this movie because for a second, idk if I'm just overanalyzing, it looked like Shinichi actually teared up, overwhelmed by all the shit that happened to him all at once and that has to be my favourite thing ever cause he rarely ever cries or shows emotion beyond anger, desperation or just being a snarky bitch. Obviously he's happy and stuff but I mean emotion as in him genuinely being overwhelmed because I promise you I would've been having a whole breakdown after all the shit he went through in like a few hours.

Like he saw someone get decapitated (Idc what he said, he might have been desensitized to murders but that's sure as hell gonna stick in his head, the blood literally squirted all over him and Ran) then he solved the case, comforted Ran, ran after the suspicious dude he saw before, saw do a whole blackmail deal while talking about some shady organization, got hit on the head hard enough that it effected his memory and he was barely aware of what was going on, got fed a drug, felt like he was burning alive, thought he was going to die, woke up as a little kid and no one is believing a single thing he's saying, almost got sent to a child care center which is a little disaster in Japan search it up, got chased by the police like a criminal with huge as dogs as well, couldn't call Ran because he knew she wouldn't believe him as well, ran home in the rain, and then almost got run over by a truck.

Like. Dude needs so much therapy for that single night, not to mention all the other shit that happens and the truck load of trauma he's going to be faced with for next year or however long canon has been. Yeah, that's crazy.

My guy deserves more than a little tear up, I need to see him cry for once

Okay, hear me out. I think we really underestimate Conan/Shinichi's ruthlessness. This man draws the line at murder and torture but that's his ONLY line.

He's a very mission-oriented man, a gentle person at heart but if he has to trick his own allies into thinking they're being chased by death itself or if he has to cut up a dead body and scatter them around a cemetery one eyeball at a time he would do it if he really has to. I mean he'd feel guilty, but he WILL do it.

He's developing his own sets of morals and it might not be as clean-cut as it used to be but I think it's a good lesson to learn, seeing the monsters that he's up against and the monsters he has to collaborate with whether he wants to or not; Kazami for example, he was so casual in telling Curaçao that he'd beat the information out of her if he has to, (and because he wants to.)

Conan burned down Rikumichi's corpse to a crisp so he could safe Akai, a former Organization member who must have done horrible things in the past, yet Conan cares for him nonetheless. He's approached by individuals who somehow, in some way, believe wholeheartedly that this young kid has what it takes, even someone as rigid and skeptical as Kuroda.

Furuya literally framed Kogoro for domestic terrorism just so he can get Conan to do what he wanted because he knows the kid always gets the job done. Hell, he entrusted him with his life once when he had a damn bomb around his neck. He used him and yet Conan still had the capacity to forgive him.

I like Conan's character because he has a solid but complex personality that isn't immune to change and influence. He's such a good man at heart but how far will a good man go? Me personally, I want a character focused arc where he's forced to grow but that'll be too much I suppose. Well, Shinichi's only 17 so let's just see what he's capable of in 10 years. (And how much therapy he needs at that point aha)

-had a hippie faze himself up until he got drafted. After that his entire perspective changed on them.

-calling him a sad shelter dog is a understatement. He is a soggy wet rez dog that trautman found on the side of the road and gave a hot dog to.

-John's sad puppy dog eyes are not only used for looking at things, but also to secretly hypnotize any waiter lady to get free appetizers.

-he can sing he just doesn't want to. (Let this man sing a Johnny Cash song and be prepared to fall in love.)

-knows so many insults but doesn't use them mostly because he is genuinely a nice guy and doesn't like hurting peoples feelings unless the other person deserves a good word with him.

-he can be mean and not think twice about it, but he chooses not to.

-want to watch a movie with him? He will fall asleep as soon as he sits down on the couch.

-hides candy in his sock drawer to feel in control of himself. (Same)

-he buys candy he doesn't even like just to hide it. (Same)

-don't ever ask John for money. He doesn't have anything to provide and will only give you his thoughts n prayers.

-"ur transgener?" John will understand, he doesn't judge anyone. He grew up around 2 spirited people.

-John will never understand a "deez nuts" joke so please dont make them around him he will only look at you confused and stare at you after you make the joke.

-he has a pair of dad glasses he uses to read any letter sent to him. You want to show him a meme? Watch him pull out a pair of glasses and not laugh at the meme.

-he doesn't want a pet but if you get him a pet he will treat the pet like his own baby.

-when he was younger he learned how to hoop dance. He doesn't know how to dance now which is honestly very disappointing. (Same but with another dance😭)

-unironically goes "hehehe" when he gets what he wants like extra jam on his toast.

-has that generational trauma on BOTH sides. (Got hit with a double whammy)

-looks Lana Del Rey, but is actually mitski.

-almost never cries, but when he does someone probably died. Like nothing else but loss (and his talking about his past) can make this man break down nowadays.

-if he were a line in a song it would be, "cause now I'm scared that everyone I love will leave me," (family line by Conan grey)

-if someone sat john down looked him in the eyes, held his hands and said, "your soul needs peace, you need to releive your anger not with violence, but with a gentle breath, allow yourself to feel for one last time." Then he will cry. Like full on ugly cry into your shoulder and let out pained groans and whimpers typa shit.

-he has big parental issues only he distances himself away from everybody he ever gets attached to in fear of being hurt again.

-he craves physical touch, only he gets so uncomfortable when someone hugs him.

-this man can deadlift 300. maybe even more, he can go walking miles without stopping once. hell he is a whole unit, but he will not go to the kitchen to get you a cup of water no matter how much you ask him.

-hates mushrooms.

-had a pet crawdad he accidentally lost. (It's still alive somehow, he just doesn't know it.)

-thugs it out on a daily. 💯💯 (I will pay for his therapy)
