Noticed an influx of terfs harassing fellow agriculture blogs. And i want to talk about something pretty heavy, if you are one of those “terf” people or maybe you have found yourself following those types of blogs while also following mine please give my words a read. I know some people look up to me but to be honest I am not the most eloquent person but maybe i can convince you to look more critically at your world view.

I will be honest and say that I also once attacked people who were different from me to, i used to be what i think is called an asexual exclusionist due to some of my own trauma and because of that i took it out on the asexual community as an angry autistic teenager. I was frustrated at my hypersexuality which was a symptom of my sexual abuse being treated like a normal sexuality so i projected those feelings of hurt back out into the world when their was better coping methods. I was frustrated at the well off asexual kids in GSA that couldnt understand why their fellow member was having a panic attack due to being kicked out of the house for being a lesbian, when i could have been just as frustrated at the other LGBT kids that had decent parents, i was just targeting them because they were different from me and it felt safe to.

Obviously as an adult I educated myself and no longer hold those ideas. I read stuff from outside of my own point of view and stuff that directly challenged me over the years, I know not everyone has the privilege to be able to do that but i did and the reason is is that i was tired of hurting and i was tired of hurting other people, I never harassed anyone but it did influence how i treated people when i was younger and i am sorry for it.

I know alot of terf rhetoric centers around the concept of women (specifically white women usually) being victims of the “other sex” or being them being the “better sex”. (i know because aphobic rhetoric is very similar) Due to this they genuinely believe that other women want to come into their spaces and “steal” this ideal away from them. Thats why they get so furious about the idea of functional uterine transplants. To them, their uterus or vulva is what defines them as “better” or the reason they suffer trauma but when the science is moving so where typical reproduction may not be the only pathway to child bearing they become enraged because they are no longer “special” to themselves. Their is no longer a reason for their trauma and pain.

This fundamentally is the basis of the hate they put out into the world. This is also why they attack cis women who do not conform to typical femininity. This boiling down of their worth to chromosomes or anatomy is literally just a rehashed version of the own misogyny they were likely fed as a child and it makes me sad. They say the same stuff my shitty relatives did about women but now terfs are the ones saying it about whoever they decide is the “other” sometimes that other is transgender women sometimes its intersex women and sometimes its women who just dont conform to their ideals. When you picture yourself happy, is it when your standing with your heels dug in on top of the people you deem “other”? Or is when your helping out your fellow human? When you tear down another person does it really build you up? When you see others tear someone down because of their appearance do you not care how it may affect the people you care about and the people who care about you? How many terfs have i seen brag about “hate saving” transwomens photos so they can make fun of them later? How does that sound when you say that out loud? Imagine going to the person you care about the most someone you deeply respect and saying “in my free time i save/take pictures of people i dont know and then i make fun of them and show them to a bunch of strangers so we can make fun of them together” like really say that out loud.

I would be ashamed. I want to make people happy not hurt them. I want connection and i think thats a base need for most humans. I want to connect with people who are kind to me and kind to others, if someone told me they were doing that i would feel ashamed for even talking to that person. Sexual abuse and trauma are no joke and there isnt an argument to say that women suffer gendered violence that cis white men simply never really will ever understand. But true of the matter is our trans brothers and sisters are treated just like woman are and worse. I feel like so many of us end up holding hate for a group of people due to bad experiences with individuals so our dumb brains start shoving people into boxes of “bad” and “good”. But a trans person can fear rape, abuse, trauma just as much as you do and they suffer from very high levels of it and thats a fact. They are not your enemy, hateful individualistic thinking is! and its that very same way of thinking that is killing the planet. I want to iterate that every single person you have interacted with on this website is a living breathing person. They have their own emotions, their own thoughts, their own dreams, and their own world view. When you say something mean or harass them you are actively hurting another person. Me typing this out right now, i am a person with my own flaws and aspirations. I think sometimes people forget that people are people not just faceless emotional less words on a screen. Trans women are women and this blog will always support that. If that makes you upset think about why, on your own at first, no social media to help you.

Maybe see a therapist who is well versed in gender and the lgbt. Therapists arent just their for when your depressed or anxious they are here to talk to. There is people you can read about or talk to, the worst thing that can happen is that you could change like i did. There is nothing shameful about changing and admitting mistakes. Sorry if i said some things wrong i just wanted to get it off my chest

the hotly anticipated kingdom episode 7 review is here!!

this episode was a lot less spectacle-y than the last one (the last episode with stages, i mean), and i think that was a good choice for all the groups on the whole to tone it down on the run up to the finale, because at the rate everyone was headed there would be no room to go any higher. i'm very glad that there was actually a collab stage and not just a song swap, especially because it gives a chance for the boys to work together and make friends when they otherwise arent going to be able to interact much. love love love to see them making friends and having fun doing these stages!

i'm not really sure why mnet didnt put the vocal stage this episode, because what on earth else are they going to put in the next episode with it??? i know it's a content stretch but still, it seems like a weird choice to me. anyways, there’s four stages for me to talk about this time and i'm going to try to not ramble out of control, but we’ll see. i did enjoy watching all of these, but we’ve all got favourites and i'm going to rank by which group i liked better out of the two for each stage, and then i put a few conclusions at the end. strap in folks this is another long one.

rap stages

skz + btob + atz

i was actually really surprised at how much i liked this stage. i would not classify myself as a rap fan and believe it or not i actually do not place a lot of importance on lyrics when enjoying music. although i have very high lyric retention and comprehension, i focus more on the sound than the literal words, so a fair amount of rap is swing-and-a-miss in my personal listening. plus when you add a language barrier on top of that, a lot of the nuance and technical skill of it just flies over my head. so i really dont have much to say about the sonic elements this time around, sorry. also.....i know i joked that nobody from the kingdom staff is reading my reviews.....but is someone from the kingdom staff reading my reviews????? i specifically mentioned that i think skz should do an art themed stage and then we got one????? i know i manifested the punk ateez stage but did i manifest this also??? am i just that powerful???

costume

obviously these are pretty basic rap/hiphop stage looks, but the white was a really good choice for visibility’s sake, and also thematically: it reflects the colours in the lighting really well.

i am DYING to know who the designer of minhyuks jacket is. if somebody knows please tell me i love it so much. it looks like some of the recent belted jackets that dior was putting out, but the drawing on the front armscythe piece reminds me of the superm/kim junggi collab for tiger inside. say whatever you want about superm, but you cannot deny that that is not some of the coolest merch on the kpop scene.

loved the traditional korean elements that came through in addition to the western references: the screens, hongjoong’s fan, minhyuk’s big fuckoff brush, the masks, and the sleeves on the dancers at minhyuk’s bit. those are a costume feature from a style of korean traditional masked dance called bongsan talchum. the masks themselves are versions of hahoetal masks, which are used in a very specific archetypal ritual dance in andong. i think these are imae masks, who is the servant/fool archetype that mocks the nobleman and the scholar. i suspect that was a deliberate choice, but i can only speculate.

another point about the masks which is not relevant but maybe a fun fact for people who don’t know. i actually thought at first that they were western theatre half masks, which are a very old style of mask that, like with hahoetal masks, represent a number of archetypes/stock characters. maskwork is a very common training practice in theatre schools, because it teaches body language and control, because half your face is covered and you cannot speak in your own voice (sometimes you cannot speak at all, this is one of the rules of full mask). the tradition of usings masks to portray emotion goes all the way back to the ancient greek chorus, but more commonly people in the west sometimes know it from the italian commedia dell’arte, of which you will have definitely seen some of the character archetypes before. i just find it neat that the same types of art pop up in different places seemingly independently of each other. humans are cool.

set

not much to say here, it's pretty bare with just some propwork. thought the screen use was fun and they used it smartly in a couple of transitions.

thought changbin’s bit of ‘interrupting’ the artists was cute and fun. there’s obviously a picasso reference there, and the four technicolour paintings are a reference to andy warhol’s pop art silkscreen portraits, most famously of marilyn monroe, but he also did many other celebrities in the 70s and 80s.

lighting

i LOVED this lighting. super bright and fun, lots of use of colour, obviously. the projections were there to enhance the visuals and weren’t distracting in any way. i thought the transition to black and white/ink with minhyuk was smart and had good contrast, it gave a strong rhythm to build back up to for the climax.

sound

bang chan’s ‘spelling colour with a u’ bit had me SCREAMING with laughter. we spell colour with a u normally bang chan, the americans are the ones that are wrong.

staging

i don’t really have a whole lot to say here, it was pretty straightforward and fun. like i’ve said in previous reviews, i wish they were more conscious of the steadicam direction and would stop showing extended bits of the production crew. at least everyone was wearing full blacks this time.

fun use of the upward angle combined with the groundwork/leg choreo during hongjoong’s verse, that was a highlight for me.

sf9 + tbz + ikon

nothing against this stage, the other one just hit harder for me. bobby is the best rapper on the show and he really carried this stage with his charisma. he’s a fun performer to watch and he knows how to command a space. i'm sure there’s technical notes that people have about the raps themselves, but i'm here looking at visuals as a priority, which i'm sure you’ve all grasped at this point.

costume

these were clearly extensions of these idol’s personal styles, with is a perfectly fine choice, especially for a rap stage where the emphasis is more on authorship. LOVED bobby’s 11yro girl at recess look.

amusing that both rap stages involved paint in some way? loved the backup dancers shooting supersoakers filled with paint at them, but i wish i knew the reason for it? i'm glad i saw this stage first because i would have been underwhelmed by the paint throwing if i had seen this after rainbow bonanza.

set

almost no set at all here, just a few props. i'm not judging as harshly on lack of set this round because these stages are meant to be more about skill than anything else.

lighting

i loved the projections, i thought they were unobtrusive and i admit, i LOVE outer space themed anything.

i liked that they did more concert lighting and had no projections in the first half to put more focus on the performers, it really highlighted the fact that this stage was about them, and not about anything extraneous.

sound

it was indeed a song.

staging

i do wish there had been a bit more control of the space, because it did look very empty at some parts and they could have staved that off by keeping tighter camera shots. this stage is so fucking big, holy shit.

they really brought their onstage chemistry and they looked like they were having a blast, which FINALLY!!

i actually really liked hwiyoung’s opening, i think there was a lot of potential there for some sharp contrast work that i wish had been played through a little more, especially with the cool white light overtop the black costumes. it actually reminded me a bit of the intro in the music video from a rapper i do actually listen to, bewhy’s gottasadae.

glad to see some more use of camera effects with the black and white, but why did they do it over the paint throwing? it just made the trajectory of the paint invisible because there was no colour contrast.

performance stages

sf9 + tbz + ikon

ok obviously im gonna have a lot more to say about the performance stages, nobody is surprised there. this one was the better constructed of the two and my personal pick for better stage, but i actually liked watching the both of them equally.

costume

king shit, literally. we love contemporary hanbok in this house. there was good colour and style distinction between the three of them without clashing.

costume change was fun and neatly blocked, it's pretty common to see backup dancers and chorus hiding quickchanges but i liked how this was a more unusual formation.

taeyang rocking the organza skirt and the big purple eyeshadow, thank you for keeping it cunty as always.

i really liked juyeon’s underlayer look. finally we get a good tbz costume look thats thematically relevant!

set

like all the stages this round, pretty minimal. the setting was almost entirely established through the costumes and the projections, which is some really good designwork. it's pretty much just the litters (the lifted chairs they entered on), and some smaller props. they managed to not make the stage feel empty because there was a lot of projection visuals to compensate, which is difficult to do without being overbearing, but i think they mostly pulled it off.

i originally thought it was gonna be weird to try and mesh the traditional korean architectural aesthetic with the weird mnet deco, but i ended up not noticing it as much as i thought i would.

lighting

like i just said, projections very well done and do a fantastic job of conveying setting without being overly distracting. like with the atz/skz/btob rap stage there’s a really broad range of colour use here that they offset by brightening and properly fill lighting the faces so you can actually see what’s happening.

the use of the strobing lasers and more concert style lighting fit really well with the change in the music from traditional instrument sounds to electronica and the more hiphop/isolated movements.

sound

i liked it well enough! i think it had a good arc that we can see echoed through the rest of the piece, like previously stated in the lighting and movement style.

staging

like i mentioned with the quickchange, there was some really interesting formations using the backup dancers here, especially as a lead toward/away from the camera

having the three of them enter on litters; again, literal king shit, love to see it.

this has a pretty clear narrative that doesnt really need an external explanation, which is good. i have to assume that the burning of the paper with 妃 (concubine) is intended to be a gesture of ‘burning’ the love out of their hearts, but that was the only thing i'm still confused on. this may very well turn out to be a reference to a specific story that i just have no idea what it is, but we’ll see once the subs are out!

i loved juyeons solo bit with the alcohol drinking and the table flip, that was the choreographic highlight for me. i just really wish he would use the other muscles in his face more often. we know youre pretty, you dont have to blue steel your way through all your performances!! take a page out of donghyuk’s book and make some ugly faces, it's good for you!!

i though taeyang’s swordwork was fine, but since i do actually have a decade of sword training i'm very judgemental. it's not bad, he obviously has practiced with the weapon and he knows how to control it, but he doesn’t have the same understanding as someone who has trained with a sword as a weapon and not just as a prop. if we hadn’t seen another stage with swordwork in it i probably wouldn’t have brought this up (that's a lie, i still would have brought it up, i have a third dan), but you can really see the difference between how minhyuk moves with his sword and how taeyang moves. a lot of this has to do with the proper weighting of the blade, which i mention briefly in my second episode review in btob’s section (and also this ask here, where i talk about properly weighted weapons in relation to the gun choreo in sf9’s and ateez’s previous stages); minhyuk is likely using a ‘real’ sword (it’s blunted but still made using proper methods and materials), and taeyang is using a cheaper-made replica (unless you’re doing full contact striking a LOT there’s no way a properly made blade breaks like that. also you would never tape it together hello??? respect the blade). if you know what you’re looking for, you can tell from the movements themselves when someone has training. minhyuk did a load of real training for a film where he was a swordsman, and you can tell; the sword is an extension of his arm, all the movements lead with the tip of the blade first, because that’s your first, your fastest, and your most dangerous point. you do 90% of your cutting with the first eight inches of blade, but it takes a lot of specific training to get your hands and arms to a place where that kind of movement is possible. taeyang’s movements are driven from his hands, which is unsurprising, because that’s where he’s used to his extensions stopping. the tip follows rather than leads. wow this got insanely sidetracked i hope you liked this crash course on swordwork.

this is pretty much what i expected to see from this unit. these three groups all have standout soloists, so i wasn’t surprised to see these three boys as the picks. juyeon and taeyang especially, theyre both from groups that are more likely to do experimental stages and choreography that highlights them as soloists and skilled dancers.

skz + btob + atz

this was a letdown from ateez’s last two stages, because they knocked those out of the park, but it's only fair that they have a bit of a fall. that being said, i did really enjoy watching this for its sheer ridiculousness; i’m forgiving the wolf concept this time because well, it’s wolf. you can't cover wolf and not do a wolf concept, that’s against the law. also, like i’ve said before, i'm all for dark concepts IF you give them thematic weight. is it on the nose? yes. is it thematically relevant? also yes. is it dumb? also also yes, but that’s never stopped a single kpop group in the history of ever.

costume

friendship restored with ateez stylists, rivalry started with skz stylists. the fur shoulder fluffs??? stupid and i love them. perfect in every way. however i keep seeing the same fucking costumes on the skz boys and i will come directly for the stylists at jype if they dont get their shit together. be! more! creative!!!

i really really wish they had gone more 2013 kpop with it, we need more of that ugly ridiculous styling. peniel was actually pretty close, with the overly long tunic and those yellow lenses. very vixx on and on (yes i know they were vampires from outer space, let me live)

i actually thought the wolf gloves were fun? the small bits of uv paint actually worked instead of looking out of place, and i'm glad they put them on wooyoung because the uglier an outfit, the better he pulls it off.

set

same dice, just the long table and the camo net at the beginning, which i thought was unnecessary. the table was useful for levels though, so happy to see they utilized that.

lighting

there is so much happening all the time. lots of lasers. it's definitely aiming for camp territory, and i dont actually hate it as much as i did on my first watch. it actually wasn’t as dark as i thought either, because its mostly lit with blue and amber. but it doesn’t really have that great of an arc and its not really that good on the whole.

the projections are a bit much for me, but that’s only when i'm actually looking at them. true to form, i didn’t even notice the excess of red slashes until like my fourth rewatch because i was too busy watching the performers.

sound

rookie exo my beloved. the original wolf goes so hard for absolutely no reason, so i’m not knocking this stage for being ridiculous. in fact it should have been more ridiculous. i think they did a fine job updating the song for a.....less 2013 sound.

i like that they didn’t bother to live sing the stage even though they recorded vocals for it, it gave them all a chance to actually focus on just the dance.

that being said, i am kind of missing all the adlibs from the original. but even though there’s some strong vocalists in this unit, they aren’t made of the same stuff as baekhyun, luhan, chen, AND d.o.

i literally just realized that peniel had already debuted when this song came out AND is technically exo’s senior because btob debuted like two weeks before exo officially did.....oh no

staging

choreographically this feels a lot more like the skz stages that we’ve seen rather than the ateez ones, so i'm curious as to who the choreographer was.

the tricking was definitely more ridiculous in this one, but i can't really say any of it was there for no reason because it all had elements of fighting in it. the scale of the tricks was quite large though and not very well blended with the rest of the choreo, which ending up making them look awkward. i thought it was a nice detail that they shone a green toplight on the dancers that made up the cliff wooyoung climbed up so that it looked like there was grass on it. cute.

the blocking is lacking a lot of fluidity, and i think that’s partially the scale of the tricking and also the editing, because this editing is TERRIBLE. there’s so much cutting, why is there so much cutting!! haven’t we already learned that longtakes are the best for this???

there’s a lot of stuff here that had good potential but could have been pushed a little farther. i feel like i say this for every mediocre stage, but what can i say, i'm good at constructive criticism.

they should have given more showcase to the tree and the scratching arms; it's the most iconic move!! i also wish they had kept some kind of iteration of the different unit ‘leaping’ in over the exiting one, i always thought that part of the original choreo was really fun and did a lot for establishing them as wolves.

i LOVED peniel entering with all those backup dancers in chains, thats some fucking iconic shit. very ‘im the alpha wolf,’ which is valid because he’s like at LEAST five years older than everyone else on the stage. i wish that instead of being the backup dancers it was the actual members, because THAT would have been an image. theyre all wearing harnesses and collars anyways, just clip em in! he’d be like one of those dogwalkers!

me last week: specifically talking about how krump is an uncommon style in kpop and it's very hard to get right kingdom, throwing the manifesting dodgeball at me for the third time: here would you like a KRUMP SOLO?

if you didnt believe me before that krump is hard to get right, i sure hope you do now. peniel did fine, but you can see how easily you can veer off into looking ridiculous.

some conclusions

i mentioned this really briefly in an ask i got earlier today, but i do think it's important to establish that the two performance units are doing two different types of performances. i can understand why people are underwhelmed by the atz/skz/btob stage and wanted it to be less of a traditional kpop dance stage and more like the experimental stages we’ve been seeing for the last few weeks. and i agree! i think they could have done more with it. but i also think that this kind of stage was a good choice for this particular subunit. unlike with the sf9/tbz/ikon unit, there are not really any standout technical soloists in ateez or skz. ateez has, in my opinion, the highest ratio of dancers with actual stage presence of any of the 4th gen groups ive seen. they’re at a solid 75% for any given performance, and occasionally they can bump that higher depending on the stage. that high of a stat is rare. it's extremely rare for a group to have all its members have good stage presence (i can think of like, maybe two or three?), and to get over 50% is pretty damn impressive. but ateez’s strength isn’t in how good they individually are as dancers, but it's in how well they work together. there’s a reason why they put FIVE of them in the performance unit. one of the first things i said about ateez to hanya is ‘i love wooyoung but he doesn’t stand out when he's not centre.’ which is for good reason!! he’s not supposed to! they all willingly give up centre and take it back when they need to, because they have that charisma. there’s a very cohesive push and pull to watching ateez that speaks to their strengths as performers. dancing in a group where you are all meant to be equal is a very different skill than just being a talented soloist. you have to understand what to prioritize in a different way. taemin dances differently with shinee that he does in his solo career, especially since they’ve been back. he understands when to step back; more often than not i find key to be the standout dancer in shinee choreo.

this is a very long winded way of saying that wolf was a good choice for them even though the stage didn’t turn out as well as it could have. also the fact that they made a cohesive performance at all, with a week of rehearsal and while working with essentially strangers is a feat and speaks to all of their skill at their job. performing in a group is a huge part of kpop, and they did call this the performance stage, and not the dance stage.

i'm not entirely sure on what the breakdown is on why each of the subunits were formed. i know the team sizes are extremely uneven, with sf9/tbz/ikon clocking in at 26 people and atz/skz/btob clocking in at 17 (i'm not counting changsub because he's not there and probably has a scheduling conflict), which is like, a whole extra group of difference. but atz/skz/btob utilizing their whole groups for each of the units (5/3/1 for performance, 1/3/1 for rap, and 1/1/1 for vocal, for 7/7/3 total), verses sf9/tbz/ikon only bringing out six people for these two stages and then six for the vocal stage is......weird? that's over half of their group number that’s not performing. i do think the groups brought out their standout performers and made smart choices with the stages but the balance still strikes me as odd. i do wish tbz had actually done some group choreo because they are very strong group performers and it would have been fun to watch.

ateez really played the long game here, good job boys. teaming up with the group who gets the highest fan votes AND the group with the strongest technical skills? i see you.

i think this is probably too wild of an assumption and is only based on circumstantial evidence but.....i think hongjoong might actually have a lot more creative sway than i previously thought. all the stages he’s been a part of have been very well designed, and i know he provided suggestions for the two ateez stages prior to this... i’m probably thinking too much.

ok you know what i know there were some other points in my brain somewhere but this is already 4000 words so i’m going to stop. if i remember anything else its probably gonna end up in the answer to some of the asks i’m inevitably going to get because i think my opinions on these ones are a little bit more controversial, whoops!

not entirely sure if ill do an extensive review for next week’s stage, because i'm not really a ballad fan and i dont really do vocal reviews, but i could do a quick one. i guess it also depends on what else they put in the episode. we’ll see!!

the one who is based on avalokitesvara (i’ll start calling it them as kannon from now) that i mentioned was actually brain (out of ppl) 😭😭

kenjaku (羂索) is shorten from "不空羂索観音 (fukukenjakukannon)" ,, they existed b4 the heian period... older then sukuna ?? suggested that brain is at least 1k years old... hsjsjjsjs

fukukenjakukannon, a manifestation of the buddhist god of mercy and compassion,, perhaps of some interest is that the fukukenjaku shares some kanji with gojou's infinite void followed by kanjis for trap & rope, with kannon directly referring to an all-knowing/overseeing divine existence. it rly does seem that kenjaku, tengen, and gojou's fates have all been strongly interwined throughout history,, kannon has been perceived as both male and female depending on the portrayal and the region, not unlike jjk's kenjaku switching bodies and genders over the course of time (kamo vs kaori vs getou)

some associations with kannon may be relevant to jjk. namely, as yuki mentions, salvation ,, kannon is a deity to serve his subjects, and resolve their suffering by eliminating its source,,, in which case, i think kenjaku's goal may possibly not be too far off from geto’s ,,,,, he may think that he is saving a group that is enduring greater suffering than any other. whether that is shamans, cursed spirits, or sth else entirely is up for debate. given his persistence over the millenia, and the likelihood of spreading suffering worldwide through a universal tengen merger, it's more than likely that he has a very personal motive. note that under his plan it is specifically the evil of a human that would spread and destroy all of humankind connected through tengen

this is an interesting contrast to sukuna, who is much more whimsical and far less calculated. i think the clash between these 2 in the past will have strong relevance for the future,,, on the other hand, since kannon has historically manifested in response to the suffering of various beings, it may be that the feelings of cursed spirits as a whole have led to kenjaku's existence. he could very well be a curse born from curses, instead of from humans.

okay now what i'm really excited abt: the relationship between kenjaku and the 6 eyes. 1 of the functions of kannon is to protect the 6 realms of rebirth/the 6 paths. u may already be familiar with this buddhist concept as it has been referenced in a variety of animanga (notably it is a major plot point of naruto, it's mukuro's ability in KHR, etc.). there's strong reason to believe this concept also has connections to the gojou 6 eyes ability. i think if we get to learn more abt the 6 eyes, i may be able to speak more on this point.

(as a side note here, i’ll mention that there’s an association between kannon and the protection of aborted children, perhaps relating to og kamo and the death paintings)

at the very least, we know that kenjaku and the 6 eyes are in opposition, and i'm speculating that the gojou bloodline is the true manifestation of a protective deity, at least for the humans, and kenjaku's goals are antithetical to that,,, perhaps, as yuki kind of suggested, taking the name kenjaku is a joke of sorts. if sukuna is malevolence incarnate, kenjaku is mercilesness,,

i think some of the core concepts being explored by the tengen storyline are that of form and existence. gojou satoru, tengen, kenjaku, and eventually the star plasma vessels are existences that transcend the norm,,, toji on the other hand, is the only example of the opposite. an existence that shouldn't have ever existed, in a sense. kenjaku seemed to have used that to his advantage in his manipulation of the events in hidden inventory,,, but it also leads me to believe that only a similar anomaly could undo the new destiny he's setting up for himself.

geto was the perfect piece to set kenjaku up for success in conducting a merger and putting this culling game into motion. geto's path has led to this outcome,,, in which case, an apt parallel as we have known all along is that gojou's path should lead to the counter-outcome: megumi, yuuta, and especially yuuji— these 3 will be the key to unravelling kenjaku's plan.

also tengen said that kenjaku’s objective is to send all the ppl in jpn to higan or turning all non shamans into one but he doesnt have enough cursed energy to do that,,, i did say that yuuji’s birthday took place in the 4th solar term where a part of a week long celebration haru no higan (higan 彼岸→other shore, buddhist pārāmitā), when ppl would honour the dead and sweep ancestral tombs took place,,,

so theres this buddhist mantra, called the “heart sutra” and the last verse of the sutra is,,

there are many sutras in buddhism, but the most well-known among them is probably the Heart Sutra,, altho it depends on the sect (of buddhism), the heart sutra is often read at funerals and memorial services, so even if,, and for some reason the sutra is often associated to kannon even in the utube thumbnail 👁👁 if u search up prajnaparamita sutra,,

heart sutra has the meaning of "an important teaching to reach the state of enlightenment by the power to see through the truth and essence." which is based on the idea of "void" as this important teaching,, the sutra tells us what we shld do to be free from the suffering of this world and live in peace,, in the heart sutra, the idea of "void" is especially important.

buddhism can be broadly divided into theravada and mahayana buddhism,,,,

theravada is a teaching that only some ppl (those who practice buddhism with strict lifestyle like the monks) reach the state of enlightenment, while mahayana is a teaching that all ppl (some who practice Buddhism) can reach enlightment even if u dont practice anything related to the religion,,, the idea of the void has the idea of not being caught up in individual things and not being obsessed with it, and the idea of heart sutra belongs to the category of mahayana buddhism

"void" does not mean "empty" but "no substance (no fixed shape)". the sutra also states that "everything keeps changing" and "although it keeps changing, the essence (core) of things remains the same."

for eg, the idea is, "i am me, no matter how old i am,, my appearance and various abilities deteriorate, how I am evaluated by others, whether i feel good or bad."

in other words,,, it’s a teaching to be aware of the essence without being caught up in the phenomenon of change.

"void" means "no substance (no fixed shape)", which means that u don't have to be obsessed with things or get caught up in one value.

eg, the reason why diamonds are beautiful is that diamonds arent beautiful from the beginning, but that humans decide that they’re beautiful,,, and that each person has a fixed evaluation of the movement of their hearts that they feel is beautiful. but thats not always the case right?

the last verse goes like this :

“Therefore, Prajna Paramita is known as the most divine mantra,

the great enlightening mantra,

the utmost mantra,

the incomparable mantra,

destroyer of all suffering!

Since what is true is not in vain, listen to the mantra of the Prajna Paramita– it goes like this:

GATE GATE PARA GATE PARASAM GATE BODHI SVAHA!”

the translation of the last line is: “going, going, going on beyond, always going on beyond, always becoming buddha.”

quoted from a web here : “it suggests movement toward awakening. It expresses the enlightenment of a buddha as an unfolding process, rather than a steady state. the irony though of toji dying thinking that he should've stuck his principles but actually having ridiculous impact on the world,, this also puts a new spin on the "look upon the flesh of one who is free" (afaik it was left untranslated on his cover page when he invade dagon’s domain) and the implication is imo,,, the more cursed energy, the more restrictions and so in a way humanity goes into a devolution the more cursed energy there is because they will be bound even more tightly to the cycle than before,, which is the irony of the kenjaku & bodhisattva linkage

toji had a heavenly restriction and has zero cursed energy, which is an anomaly that is his own, which makes me wonder what he would've been like if he had an expressed technique,,, but it's the zero cursed energy part, that uniqueness, that makes him powerful in canon

im rly curious how having cursed power automatically seems to lock u into a binding,,, which is seemingly fate. the shaman world rly operates entirely on rules,, where this is because of tengen's barriers or the origin of techniques being more commonplace im not sure

i used to think CTs came abt when individual sorcerers made pacts with supernatural beings etc but now im not sure,, despite leaning hard on shinto and buddhist frameworks there isnt much overt indication over what is and is not a real power in canon,,, like we have mahoraga but are bodhisattvas assumed to be real and exist? or as figures of belief, are they and other figures of shinto mythology, all just cursed spirits in the end?

but that tengen is linked with the proliferation of 6 eyes and star plasma vessel, makes me start wondering how and why tengen started this whole barrier thing,, like yes jpn has a ton of cursed spirits but was it before or after the barrier i can't remember now

maybe Kenjaku was messing around too much back then,, i like how sukuna also maybe had very lil to do with this and is possibly going to interfere as a wild card once more. is the idea to use him as a hail mary so u convey more ppl to the other side all at once? unless kenjaku thinks sukuna is the person who got closest to the next evolution of humankind and is actually a fan 🥴

but yeah if sukuna and megumi can remake the world together can they just hit the reset button so tengen isn't somehow this massive jungian collective unconscious? is sukuna going to accidentally save the world lol,,, i didn't care for fate themes before since it felt like akutami hadn't wholly committed to it as a theme,,, but fate and collective responsibility/influence on the individual just became a much bigger theme

also the mind/body/soul thing with tengen,,, when is that idea coming back

so tengen and sukuna are so far the only ppl who have said to have evolved into curses, whereas kenjaku still seems to be a shaman, as well as angel. what catalyzes that??

theres this time i stayed behind in cram school for an exam,, i purposely took a another path from my usual one to clear my head (but im still familiar) and i saw this guy standing on the side road and the only thing that went thru my mind back them was “why is he not moving? is he waiting for someone? is he lost or sth,, the main road is just 6 foot away tho lol”

you literally brought up THE SAME EXACT QUESTIONS I HAVE!!! like why would gojo send yuuta to find more of the rope if he destroyed it in the first place?? unless he destroyed it in the heat of the battle with miguel during the prequel but it didn’t look like that. also i saw on twitter kenjaku might not even be a male?? apparently when referring to kenjaku, tengen didn’t use gendered pronouns. im also super curious as to how the six eyes, star plasma vessel (riko...), tengen, and kenjaku are all entwined because kenjaku’s plan was a long time coming, even though he was foiled two times already.

this reminds me of the heavenly restrictions because im still so confused about what exactly it is!! is it something a person is born with or is it something that is placed on a baby by another person??

you brought up fate too and i think that’s such an interesting concept like with akutami making more and more references to the heian era and the “golden age of sorcery” in the end I feel like everything led up to this moment. the existence of cursed energy too just feels like this “endless cycle of fate” which makes sense considering this theme also kinda aligns with yuuji’s birth which was pre planned. idk...this whole thing is suddenly feeling so much more insidious than we may have originally thought.

the sudden christianity mention is a pretty odd choice on akutami’s part but a lot of ppl (including me) are speculating that hana is going to be a harbinger of doom or something. once again is she even japanese?? the western concept of angels have never been particularly altruistic either.

unfortunately gojo has always been treating megumi like an adult so i don’t think he was ever given the “you are a child” talk from gojo. we can see it in their first meeting too. when their conversation takes a turn to serious, it becomes a conversation is from one adult to another. gojo also seems like the type to pile even more responsibility onto megumi because gojo isn’t responsible, so megumi had to pick up that slack.

i agree with you. i think sukuna is literally a wild card LMAO he does what he wants when he wants and that’s in. i don’t even think you can have a contingency plan for sukuna because he’s just that unpredictable!!!

Fandom Universe: Harry Potter

pairing: Draco Malfoy x reader

tags: having a quiet moment on the ice, fighting to have a forbidden school romance, Draco meeting the reader to the ice rink in a secluded part of school grounds on break during the day and the 2 of them use their school shoes to skate on the ice

25 days of hogwarts list

this was your 5th year at hogwarts, this year was one of great importance, for this was the year of you starting to tutor. you had tutored partially this last year, but it was a strange start to your tutoring career, for you got assigned to tutor one student in particular.

Draco Malfoy, from a pureblood family his father a death eater and a follower of Voldemort. you were a strong opponent in dueling and now in quidditch. for you made quidditch captain within your first few games.

He was also unfortunately a quidditch captain except he played for Slytherin. the captains tent for Ravenclaw (your house) was shared with Slytherin (Draco’s house) sadly though this was only for show.

as always you sent a fire message to Draco asking to meet in the captains tent to discuss the practice schedule, but also the tutoring schedule it was the most private place away from prying eyes to meet.

For during the summer in the last few days before the train boarded to go to hogwarts you and Draco bumped into each other. It went something like this:

Draco: YN, how are you?

Yn: Draco, I'm good, yourself!?

You ask casually as though waiting for a miracle.

Draco: hiding from my family.

YN: well maybe i can help you hide a bit.

Draco: what did you have in mind?

YN: we could hide amongst the muggles.

Draco: you mean hide in plain sight, live like normal people for a few days.

YN: exactly besides then we could actually be a normal couple for once in our almost year together!

Draco: lets go...

you both went to olivanders and begged him to let you both use his flue travel. he said he would keep your secrets and you would both be safe from the authorities. that was the start of your first few days as a normal muggle couple.

after that the start of your 5th year together, you were 16. your 17th birthday would come at the end of your 5th year. draco’s birthday was a month and a bit before yours.

this made you feel like a normal person the day that Draco first approached you not for quidditch but for tutoring. this was the time when you would now start to build something other than a rivalry with Draco.

Draco and you had waited a month and a bit before you would meet in the astronomy tower for the tutoring schedule. to have the first tutoring session, plus you would get to greet each other properly... if no one else was around.

you and draco had your first kiss that final time in the quidditch tent at the end of your 4th year. it was your magical time, it was your own happy ever after. or at least the start of it anyway.

Draco had slipped you a note on the split off to the dorms. you opened it when you got to your dorm. you made sure no one was around first before opening it.

Draco’s note: meet me in the tent during spare... i have something to show you... love Draco...

you smiled hiding the note hearing voices approaching. one of them Hermione, the other Harry. both looking at you smiling like a idiot.

Harry: are you alright YN?

YN: of course why wouldnt i be...

Hermione: why are you smiling ear to ear and why are you giggling.

you had to come up with something believable.

YN: i was talking with the constellations on the ceiling that leo was telling some really good jokes. made me smile.

Hermione came to sit beside you.

Hermione: your parents again.

YN: yes they insist on showing me suitor after suitor when i dont want any of those pompus annoying dirtbags, i want someone real and honest and happy to be with me for me. i just want someone of my choosing, not of my parents choice.

you take a breath as a few tears fall.

YN: i just want to be with someone i love and that loves me in return.

Hermione: dont worry girl, you will find your special person.

Harry: of course you will trust me its never an easy thing talking to the opposite sex especially if they arent your friend. you just have to make sure that you keep it either within our house or a wizard elsewhere.

YN: i know but what if my future lies outside of what im supposed to do.

Hermione: well then we will cross that bridge when we come to it.

You nod as you realize that there is a few moments till charms. then its your spare where Draco wants to meet to give you a surprise. you would be livid if the next hour didnt go by quickly.

you kept your cool, you didnt show any excitement. though it didnt help that you could feel Draco’s eyes on you the entire time. you were in your own state of mind. you were just thinking about how this entire time your destiny has been right in front of you.

professor flitwick: alright class who would like to come up here and show us a new charm they learned over the summer!

You looked back slightly “stretching” your neck Draco nodded slightly to you. you stood up and spoke.

YN: ill demonstrate one professor, but ill need a volunteer...

meanwhile draco was looking a little bored, he was keeping up his image.

Professor flitwick: how bout you Mr. Malfoy you look like your kind of bored. come on down, front and center.

the class watched as draco made his way from his seat to stand before the class. the rivalry between the 2 of you was legendary, well at least among hogwarts anyway.

Draco: YN

YN: draco

Draco: let me guess the little girl learned some new spells over the summer...lets see this little magic trick...

You pulled out your wand and stood ready. you stare directly at Draco holding his gaze as you speak the spell.

YN: SILENCIO

the spell was cast. Flitwick was impressed.

Flitwick: impressive YN, very impressive, keep it up and you could possibly take over my class some time. well, Mr Malfoy how do you feel?

Draco’s mouth was now moving but no sound was coming out. the class laughed as the bell rang, people began to get up and gather their stuff, Flitwick waved his wand allowing Draco to speak again.

Flitwick: don't forget students to speak to YN if you need any help with your studies and work on your wrist movements. there will be a physical spell test before the holiday break. see you all tomorrow!

the class dismissed, you walked out of the room with Harry, Hermione and Ron. splitting off to go on your spare. which meant dropping your books off at the dorm and then getting ready to meet Draco. you heard a bunch of merry excitement...

you looked out your window and see a fresh blanket of snow coating the grounds. you decided that your house colors and some winter shoes/jacket would be an appropriate attire.

you head off for a walk on the grounds in the snow. sticking to the path you take a spin in the snow falling snow. straightening up for the final approach to the tent. you wave your hand silently spelling the tent, to prevent anyone who might hear anything said.

you enter the tent. Draco’s head turns toward you.

Draco: your early...

YN: no im right on time. sorry about charms class. i was really trying to demonstrate a simple spell that wouldnt get me into deep trouble. i know now that i am happiest when im with you, or reading your little notes, or happily walking through the streets as a normal couple. i know that my future is lucky to have you in it.

Draco: how could you think that i would be mad over you demonstrating that spell to the class. i was amazed when you cast that. you continue to surprise me every day, and as long as i live i will not let anyone tear us apart. even if i have to give up a part of myself so we can be together.

YN: now whats your surprise. ive been itching to know.

Draco: use the same spell thats on the tent on us. we dont want to be heard.

you do so, Draco takes your hand and smiles as you both walk outside to see the ground now covered in snow. but one thing remained to be seen. an ice rink...

Draco: watch this ive been practicing... call this a demonstration of what you had me study.

Draco stands beside you wand at the ready pointing it at the snow in front of you.

Draco: Glacius!

in a few short seconds a rink of ice had been formed before your eyes. you smiled a few moments before moving to hug Draco.

YN: this is amazing. well done on that spell. but we dont have any skates...

Draco: we dont need them. come on we just have to smile as we walk gently across the ice.

Draco takes your hand and both of you walk onto the ice. Your shoes slide a bit, but between the laughter and slipping you got lost in Draco's eyes, that made you loose your balance. You knocked you both into the snow.

The laughter became softer as the gaze you both held now calm expressions of love expressed through soft kisses.

The both of you got up brushed the snow off each other and then heard the curfew warning bell.

Walking halfway back to the school made things easier to say goodbye but it also made things easier to keep up appearances.

One more kiss before you parted ways. You went back inside and Draco waited a full 5 minutes before he followed.

You make it back to your shared dorm and you go sit on the bed, Hermione come in short while later.

Hermione: how was your walk?

Yn: it was amazing! For the fresh snowfall it is really nice out. I went to the quidditch tent and checked the schedule apparently ravenclaw is versing slytherin tomorrow. That means the press will want more draco/ YN rivalry.

Hermione: well let's rest up, it's a new day tomorrow.

Yn: ya it is. Night cuz!

With that you both went to sleep. Draco had made it back to his dorm room and sent u a little text message saying "good night my sweet love." before he too drifted off.

HOW I RUN MY BLOG

Speed: i can be..... SO SLOW when replying to threads. it honestly just depends on my mental health for the day and if i feel capable enough to write. i can easily range from “i will reply to this thread Immediately” to “the bubonic plague has overtaken my physical form and its gonna take me a few weeks to get to it”. same goes for asks as well, but im always active on discord if u want to yell @ me

Replies: my replies usually stay in my drafts; as soon as i get to see ur reply to our thread, i save it to my drafts to make sure i dont lose it. i post them as soon as theyre ready and i dont rlly utilize my queue for things reply-wise-- mostly just for aesthetics, art, promos, etc. they can get.. way too lengthy tbh and i always tag my threads as “long thread //” as soon as the writing starts to exceed the length of the web browser. i cant really HELP IT, i just have a tendency to write a lot abt the thoughts of my muse . i apologize if this comes off as prose; i try my hardest not to go into that territory and to make sure my replies are as coherent as possible

Starters: as for starter calls, i can get super sidetracked, especially when i have 5+ people liking them and expecting from me, and i know that i say “ough this could range from a sentence to a paragraph” but i know DAMN well im gonna be writing a paragraph for every person because one liners just feel so..... dry to me?? even with this making starters arent really my strongest suit

my reasoning is literally just hyperbole. like sure i could get into how a lifetime of transphobia has taken its toll and all of thay but. like. it really and absolutely is not that deep.

ive told friends before "i am begging from the bottom of my heart on my hands and knees for you to just fucking die" like. its Hyperbole. you can argue that its not very tasteful but i don't think that looking at cis people systematically opressing trans people and being transphobic and looking at trans people expressing discontent and irritation and going "these are exactly the same!" is a empathetic or very sturdy leg to stand on. another example would be like.

poc saying they hate white people? really and never will be as bad as white people saying they hate poc. like. i guess thats Contro Verse Eel and we can't all be Friends all the time but like. at the end of the day there wasn't a reason, i was making a hyperbolic joke.

What’s your OTP for your Muse?

At the moment, my most developed ship is Rosie and (@osteum‘s) Eddie Brock. Its my deepest passion for that reason, with the kind of dynamics they share, and the amount of interactions that stem around their association to each other. They have a whole family of 6 kids together (including the new addition of Dylan from the current Venom run) and honestly the ups and downs are what I live for. Its the chance I get to explore Rosie’s life as a Mom and a Wife and how she deals with it, mixed in with the regular events of her canon. How she deals with this deep love she has for Eddie and their family beyond any sane reason, and that butters my bread.

What are you willing to RP when it comes to shipping?

Generally anything? As long as im comfortable with my partner, and how Rosie feels towards the said muse, its almost free range. Naturally im not gonna be too cozy with the extremes but If it serves plot purposes maybe I can budge. I can’t really say my own limitation mostly because half the time I don’t really know my limits until suddenly its in my face and too much, then I go “Woah alright, thats enough”

Naturally, anything shipping related needs to be something I can realistically see happening with Rosie. And she’s a hard bird to crack.

How large does the age gap have to be to make it uncomfortable?

Rosie really a grownass woman with kids, and she’s immortal so she’s more likely than not older than her partner. But Rosie is not gonna date not teenager that could be her kid. Im not gonna flip my shit over huge age gaps as long as there’s good chemistry but Rosie isnt gonna date someone who’s like.. under 25. It largely depends on the maturity of a person that will be the hit or miss with her.

She tends to be interested in older muses either way, It all varies by what gets plotted in a verse, but Rosie is a little more open to the idea of an older partner than she is someone younger. Even if she’ll never look past 32

Are you selective when shipping

At this point in time, im a tired old lady that literally just wants people to care for Rosie beyond being a tool for romance, so yeah. Im selective( arent we all?), but im generally open minded if we already chatted out some interesting dynamics. In the end, Rosie may be a sick person, but im not gonna have her jump dick or look for some V to slay just because she’s not that desperate of a character. If you wanna love Rosie, there’s gonna be a lot of baggage that is involved from emotional trauma and her off personality, along with her having kids ,

but if you’re ready to explore that field, im open. I just dont want something half assed, ya know? The moment dirty words start getting thrown in and the heavy petting turns into intentional acts of trying to turn her partner on, its nsfw and its going under read more. I would think its common courtesy to ask and not just force your muse onto another. Rosie is not exactly an easy person to just throw in with and chances are if you try she’s gonna shy away because bitch doesn’t know how to handle someone being equally interested in her. I would like to have talked for a while before throwing in with shipping , make sure our muses have good standing because Im not here to have Rosie used as a sex doll right away. But if you see some chemistry there, feel free to ask! Highkey chance im probably into it as well and have been too shy to ask.

Not often at this point. Im more concerned with Rosie making meaninful friendships nire than I am shipping her off with every person that comes along. There’s a lot of things to accept when shipping with Rosie and many things about her that arent just gonna magically go away just because she’s with someone. k so aaaAAAA lets start with. skyhill i guess since thats the first one on the line? (technically i think northern hues is the first band he was in that published stuff but i havent listened to it myself so i dont knoooow anything about it other than what i just read from a comment on a youtube video and that is that it definitely sounds like the kind of music dan would have made in his stoner days which probably was true lol)

skyhill has a lot of really good chill songs tho? i personally really love ‘the city as you walk’ and ‘black & white’ the most i think - both are like lyrically really nice to listen to and the chorus especially in black & white is just hnggg. its so good tbh. but really any skyhill songs are good! they arents. as advanced vocally as his later stuff obviously, since this band is like. 12 years old at this point at least but its nice chill stuff with honestly really nice but simple lyrics if you want some good stuff to listen to as a break from all the dick jokes and whatnots that nsp and starbomb have to offer tho!

starbomb is honestly a bit more difficult tho cause its like. much more arin-heavy with the raps and such? but! lets not have that fool us cause there are still plenty of quality songs with pretty vocals by dan tho! ..also hahaa i think its needless to say but hey heres a heavy nsfw warning for these songs

‘mega marital problems’ is a personal favorite, mostly cause dan does like. three different voices in this one? and its hilarious. also if you listen in the chorus parts, you can hear the layered singing he does and its honestly just so good mmmm

‘crasher-vania’ i feel like im gonna betray myself if i dont put this on the list for multiple reasons. 1. its EASILY the most popular song on the album. 2. its freaking fantastic, with the story and the lyrics. 3. the chorus, again? (as dan most often did the chorus work on the first album!) it sounds beautiful and especially in the second chorus, you can hear him emoting it out with the lyrics. 4. the background music. if you stop to listen to it, its honestly so good? like, its very simple, yes, but it works and it just sounds awesome. always brings a smile on my face to listen to those tasty keyboard jams ~

im gonna add ‘regretroid’ here too, as its a personal favorite too. but also his voice. goes so high? and it sounds nice?? also this song is just banging with a female feature vocalist! which is real nice!!

I SWEAR IM DONE WITH ATTITUDE CITY AFTER THIS but also ‘6969′ is a must to mention. its an eight and half minute song but its just. amazing at everything. beautiful jams and awesome vocals. its gorgeous tbh, a masterpiece

‘cool patrol’. first of all cause apparently i “traumatized” one of my friends by making him watch the video to this and yeah. this is vocally one of my absolute favorites from them tho, dan sounds amazing in both styles, and its just. so positive and cute and aaaaa. its just such an uplifting song i love it

‘danny don’t you know’ cause this one made my cry the first few times i listened to it and its just. so relatable. also fucking beautiful vocals tho and yes the lyrics are personal which makes it even more emotional song. hnggg i love this so much tho cause it just. goes from kind of a ballad to a more of a rock song and its amazing. development similar to the story its telling

‘first date’ i mean. i gotta put my current fave song of theirs here, right? RIGHT? personally i love this cause its just a positive song, in a way i guess, but it stays true to the original nsp style and the lyrics are just perfect for their song about dating tbh. especially with how it just keeps getting gradually weirder and weirder. its just perfection hnggg i love this song. so much. god its so good (honestly tho if you give me a lyric like ‘i’ll take you back to your place and we’ll craft the perfect alibi’ idk how you expect me, a thriller writer, not to absolutely love this song to hell and back)

‘courtship of the mermaid’ idk how you expect me to make a list without this. the emotions in the vocals of this song are beautiful and its, again, hilariously absurd. as a mermaid princess i highly approve of this song

‘mansion party’ its so sad there will probably never be a video of this song cause they want to film it in an actual mansion and so far they havent mentioned that they got a chance to do that so mmmm. cause this song is so fucking banging it deserves a video honestly. the chorus is like. one of the few things in this world that makes me wanna dance. and also theres so many genius lyrics in this that its just pure gold all the way through tbh (also how do you smoke champagne? asking for a friend)

one more i swear, but the whole cool patrol album is so good hngg. but! ‘smooth talkin’’! in all of its absurdity is a must to listen to. its just what the title says, about how smooth danny is with talking to ladies. im not gonna explain more just. it goes as well as you’d expect at this point

“The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part” Movie Review

Back on Oscar nomination day in 2014, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced the 5 nominees for the Best Animated Feature of the year, and while that list included some crowd favorites like Big Hero 6 and more mature blockbusters like How to Train Your Dragon 2, the largest story that day wasn’t about any of the nominations, but one film that was left out of them. Most pundits and basically any critic who had seen the brilliantly creative, immensely funny, and more-emotionally-affecting-than-it-had-any-right-to-be Lego Movie had it pegged as not only a surefire nominee, but surefire winner of that award, and our jaws were left hanging on the floor at the lack of its mention during the announcement.

Despite that though, The Lego Movie went on to be an animated hit in the homes of people all across the world, two mildly-to-wildly successful spinoffs were launched to critical praise, and the studio immediately began plans for a sequel, with directors Phil Lord & Chris Miller not returning to the project as they were already booked to direct the Solo movie for Lucasfilm (which they were fired from, and then they moved on to Into the Spider-Verse and we all saw how that shook out). Thus, we have The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part, which finds Emmet and the rest of the Lego people 5 years removed from the ending of that first film. Bricksburg has been ravaged and destroyed by the toys of DuPlon, and our heroes now live in Apocalypseburg. But when some of the residents are captured by a mysterious new character from the Sistar system, Emmet must embark on a daring new mission to rescue his friends and prove that he truly is The Special.

I’ve made it no small secret that I love The Lego Movie and thoroughly enjoyed Lego Batman. Lego Ninjago was…fine for me, but I mostly chalked that up to it being very much tied into the popular children’s Ninjago series, which I hadn’t watched. With the direct sequel to the film that birthed them all being not only released but also set 5 years after the original, I was curious to see if the team at Warner Bros. would be able to pull off the same magnificent feat they did in 2014, especially without the direction of Lord & Miller. And, for the most part, they almost do. Much like How to Train Your Dragon 3, I thought Lego Movie 2 was pretty good – just not as good as those initial outings. While there are certainly moments of levity and plenty of jokes from a script by Lord & Miller, something did feel missing in its direction and pacing.

For a start, there are too many musical numbers in this movie. That may seem like a strange thing to say about a Lego movie, especially as a critique to start with over something more significant, but that’s exactly my point. It doesn’t make much sense until one realizes that the studio fell so in love with what worked in the original that they just decided to do that again – but a lot more. Sure, the original film this one is following had an iconic original theme song, and even Lego Batman dabbled a bit in the introduction, but Lego movies are not musicals. Even Tiffany Haddish (who can’t sing very well, as we find out) gets no less than two numbers essentially all to herself, and basically all of them take place in the second act. This not only overcrowds the movie as a whole, but the second act is simply too repetitive. On a story level, that means there’s less time devoted to moving it along rather than just using the same jokes for a little while longer than necessary. They’re not bad jokes, and some of them are actually quite funny, but that zippiness that was so profound in the original film is missing here, giving way to a slightly more elementary-style humor, which follows, considering the director they found to replace Lord & Miller is Mike Mitchell, director of Trolls.

Not only is the second act overly repetitive and reliant on the same jokes, the newer characters added to the franchise aren’t exactly super memorable. None of them leave the lasting impact that a character like a Lego Batman did on the first movie, and there are basically zero interesting cameos throughout (save for one that actually does turn into a pretty hilarious real-world reference joke during the third act). General Mayhem seems to be the stand-in for the Batman character this time around, but apart from capturing the main heroes and transporting them to the Sistar system, there’s really not much else to her until the final couple of minutes and she doesn’t help craft other characters’ development like Batman did for Lucy. In addition to this, the villain this time around (whose name I’m not even going to attempt to type since I’m writing this at almost 2:00 in the morning) might be a more intimidating presence than Lord Business, but she’s not exactly as or more compelling.

One of the things that made Lord Business compelling was his tie-in to the real world that informed the surprise reveal at the end of the original Lego Movie, but while the added-on real-world element to this entry in the series presents a beautiful intent with its message, the actual Lego sections don’t handle telling that message quite as clearly as the first one did its central themes, which makes understanding the villain character in The Second Part more difficult than it honestly should be. Most of the supporting cast that are introduced in this movie aren’t very memorable, which doesn’t bode well for a franchise plan. Even though the Rex Dangervest storyline does go to some pretty ambitious places, he remains sort of a watered-down version of what he’s probably meant to be, and a lot of that is wrapped up in his very convoluted storyline.

Even the animation seems to have taken a bit of a hit; in the original movie, it was made fairly obvious that everything was made of legos, and that was a super cool and innovative way to create an animated movie, but when this sequel gets busy in the Sistar system or with characters not from the Lego world, it becomes difficult to get very invested in the animation, as it no longer carries that particularly unique look. If we’re going to continue to get Lego movies in this vein for a while, spending more time outside of the Lego world than in it is a bad idea. Legos are fun! Spending time in the Lego world should take up the majority of a movie in this franchise, not a minority.

There is a fair amount to like about this movie though; pretty much all the original characters carry the same weight and charm they have since 5 years ago, and the story and themes this movie presents in conjunction with the last one are actually very sweet. Some of the music is actually quite catchy as well, and The Lonely Island come back again with a stellar closing credits sequence. While the direction could have used quite a bit of work, the script by Lord & Miller does what it can to keep the franchise fresh and new, and if nothing else, most of the jokes are funny on first arrival.

It may sound like I’m knocking on this movie too much, but much like How to Train Your Dragon 3 (the superior film between these two, if you’re wondering), I did enjoy it – I just find it to be a bit disappointing as a sequel. That’s the tough part about being a film critic; if you’re reviewing a sequel, talking about the stuff that worked again isn’t nearly interesting as what doesn’t work as well this time around or what works better because that sticks out more, which can make it sound like that’s all you think of the film. With Lego Movie 2, that means telling you that while what worked last time mostly works again this time, there are a few spots that don’t work as well, and that’s okay, if a little bit of a bummer.

Chide (Bikeverly) -Oneshot-

Summary : Bev gets upset at the boys for looking at boobs without her and essentially flashes her own boobs to the boys next door as revenge.

Pairings : Bikeverly (Ben, Mike, Bev)

Warnings : No real plot, just character dynamics, lots of porn talk, they’re naked even though u probably think they arent, yes this is post sex, honestly i had so much intention of this being cute and fluffy but its actually Bev and Mike fucking with Ben.

AN : Just bc I haven’t seen Bikeverly anywhere (excuse me if I’m wrong, but I really haven’t seem Mike shipped with any of the losers, much) I wanted to expand on them here a little bit with a little one-shot, just because I don’t have plans on doing much with them in Lost. Also, can anyone think of any better ship names?? Speaking of, this is in the Lost verse, so they are 18/19.

To be honest, Beverly never thought she’d see herself in a relationship with one man, and two seemed like a stretch. But here she was, laying on her stomach at the edge of Ben’s bed with a book in hand, while her two boys chattered over her about god-knows-what. Regular relationships were hard, but Bev knew that Poly one’s could become even more difficult. Two sets of emotions made things crazy, and three made them insane.

Bev turned the page to her book, just as her right foot lifted off the plush comforter, only to collide with a jaw. She turned over quickly, and looked at the two boys. “I’m so sorry, Ben.” She told him, eyes wide.

Ben rubbed his jaw, but brushed the whole thing off. “I’m fine, I’m fine. Don’t worry about it.” And with that, the boys conversation continued.

She figured she hadn’t moved her foot that fast anyways. And so long as he wasn’t bleeding, he’d be fine. It didn’t stop her from watching the two of them, though. She rolled over completely and sat up, criss-crossing her legs. She closed her book, and put it beside her, before looking back up at the two of them.

Honest to god, she had no idea what they were talking about at this point. They were really excited about it though, as they were both talking at the exact same time. It was funny to watch from the outside. Beverly tilted her head to the side, trying to make out some of what they were saying.

“But then there’s like this explosion-!”

“I know! And the giant ant-!”

“Yes! And the huge boobs-!”

“God I know! What about th-”

“Excuse me?” Bev interrupted the conversation, an eyebrow raising.

Both boys whipped their head to her.

“You guys are watching something with huge boobs in it, and you didn’t invite me?” Her bottom lip puffed out a bit, a soft pout falling over her features as she crossed her arms over her chest.

“We didn’t invite you because we know you like boobs more than you like dicks.” Mike told her, not at all affected by the pout.

“Exactly! That’s why you’re supposed to invite your girlfriend! So she can enjoy the boobs too, not shield your eyes from them!” She wasn’t really mad, she just wanted to know when they’d hung out without her. It wasn’t often the three of them weren’t together.

“It was just the other night when you were with Richie and Bill. Chill, babe.” Ben piped up, also unaffected by said pout.

“You guys are such losers.” Bev huffed, and shifted to get off the bed. She walked over to the window in Ben’s room and wrenched it open, before placing herself on the windowsill, and looking out to the street.

“Beverly, really. Can you at least put some clothes on before you go sit in the open like that?” Ben asked, standing from the bed himself, only to begin gathering up clothes. He pulls on his jeans before throwing his shirt at Bev, who just glares at him, arms still crossed over her chest.

“At least she’s covering the goods.” Mike grinned, pulling himself out of the bed and tugging on his briefs.

“The goods are for our eyes only, Bev. Don’t flash the kids next door, please.” Ben tried again, walking across the room to the girl.

“Don’t watch things with boobs in them without me.” Beverly retorted, giving in as she threw Ben’s shirt over her head.

“That’s a little impossible, but we’ll definitely not watch any sort of porn without you.” Mike reasoned, as he continued getting dressed. The taller male strode across the room with Beverly’s cigarettes in hand, knowing that’s what she wanted.

“Mike! Don’t-...Alright. I’ll let you smoke a cigarette in my room if you let me look at porn when I’m alone.” Ben hated it when Beverly smoked in his room, mostly because his parents could smell it. But it seemed like he hated having his porn taken away even more.

“Okay, one, why do you even need porn? We have sex almost daily. And two-” Bev paused, lighting up her cigarette, “Where did you even get it from?” She shifted on the window sill to allow Mike to sit next to her, and she threw her legs onto his lap.

“I need porn because...I just like it, okay?” Ben huffed, now being the annoyed one as he dropped himself onto the edge of the bed. “And I steal my dads magazines out of the trash once he’s finished with them. He generally drops them in when the new issues come in.”

“Are you serious? Where do you stash them? Bev and I have been all over your room, never seen them.” Mike laughs a bit, his thumbs brushing against Beverly’s legs.

“In the bathroom. Above the cabinet that hangs over the toilet.”

Bev snorted, taking a deep drag of her cigarette before handing it over to Mike and standing up. She opened the door to Ben’s bedroom and looked out into the hallway.

“Bev, really? What if my parents see you?” Ben asked with a hushed voice, standing up to try and keep her from leaving the room without pants on.

“You really think your parents don’t know what we do up here at this point? It’s been two years, Ben. I’m sure they’ve caught on.” Mike laughed, the sound deep and rich.

“Yeah but they haven’t been confronted with it!” Ben exclaims, attempting to grab Bev before she slips out the door. He huffs, but feels a lot better when she’s back in the room within seconds. He shuts, and relocks the door behind her.

“Look at what I found.” Beverly grins, holding up a few magazines to Mike. “There were a lot more up there, but I just grabbed the ones off the top, figured they’ve had less use.” She laughed.

She glides back over to Mike, and slings her feet back into his lap before taking the cigarette from his fingers and flipping open one of the books.

“Wowza.” She comments, a toothy grin on her face. “Got a lot out of this one, didn’t ya, Benny?”

Ben blushes a bit, but moves over to sit behind Beverly. The three of them enjoy their time flipping through the magazines, sharing teasing jokes, and giving soft, thoughtful kisses.

Week 1 - For this years vocal ensemble we were reunited with Kevin O Carroll, our vocal ensemble teacher from first year. We were introduced to two pieces which we would be examined on in week twelve. These pieces were ‘Maria Walks amid the Thorn’ by Thomas Morley and ‘Sanctus’.

- Performance Workshop was a new class for all of us and we had only met Shirley our teacher one time previously for Immersion week in second year. We started our first class by doing a lot of acting and improvising exercise classes.

- During our first week of gospel in semester two, for myself and my classmates it was rather difficult to get back into a routine of doing group work seeing as we had spent the previous semester on our co-operative placement.

Week 2

- For week two of vocal ensemble we focused on perfecting the first page of sanctus. Straight away it was evident that sanctus was the harder piece of the two. I sing in the mezzo-soprano line along with six other girls. I am mentioning this because seven is the most we have ever had in our mezzo line!

- Following the result of last weeks exercises, shirley challenged us again by doing a lot more improvisation because that is a method of acting/singing that we as a class fall down in.

- In week one of gospel we were asked to sit back and listen to what pieces the rest of the class had created in semester one, and to then research and learn our designated parts for this week. We were focusing on ‘Let praises rise’, a song which we were familiar with already and also ‘Better is one Day’ a song performed by the same person we had learned the first song from.

Week 3 - In vocal ensemble our mezzo line for Sanctus was proving very difficult for myself as a solo singer, and also as a group line. The song was relatively major, however a lot of the mezzo soprano line had some sustained notes and notes that would clash with the others, making them sound wrong.

- Shirley began asking us topics which we would like to cover for our final exam in week fifteen. Our assignment for this week was to pick five themes that do not need to be relative or have context. I thought of ideas such as ironic things that women apparently arent able to do and simple universal jokes people would be familiar with such as ‘Is this thing on?’.

- Personally gospel requires no concentration or technique for me as I feel very comfortable in the class. All stuents pick up the melody and given harmony extremely fast. By this week we had ‘Better is one Day’ complete and it was only week three.

Week 4

- We had now moved onto the third and fourth page of sanctus. It being a new song it did take us quite a while to understand and recite the melody,what I found difficult was that due to our group having a high number it was hard to listen to eachother. Kevin made a few comments about us being flat and coming in at wrong times, but due to us having such a large number in our group we could never figure out who was making the mistakes.

- This week we provided shirley with our ideas from the week before. We were split into groups and asked to showcase a small bit of what our themes meant. Myself and three other girls decided on listing a number of famous women in the past or present day that have made a change in the world and who are powerful. Shirley loved this idea and eventually we as a class decided our theme would be women in power.

- Kathleen wanted to challenge us as a choir this week by taking us out of our comfort zones and making us stand next to a person who was not singing the same melody line as us. I did not find this difficult if anything I found this to make our sound as a choir more blended.

Week 5

- Kevin decided to give us a break of sanctus this week and focused on Maria Walks Amid the Thorn. What was extremely difficult for this piece was that our line of melody was similar, but not the exact same. Each new verse had a different rhythm and the time signature also changed, this was going to take a lot of focus inside and outside of class.

-With our theme now officially being women in power, we had to now start producing and creating music/scenes/movements that would portray this theme for the end of summer final performance exam. Shirley wanted our idea of using powerful women's names so we created a scene where we would all as a group shout women of our choice who were powerful. We were also given the task of thinking of music pieces we would like to perform.

-Kathleen liked the idea of us being separated from our lines and kept that method this week. This time she also asked us to walk around and walk towards empty spaces of the room. I feel she was doing this so that we did not focus so much on the words and technical side of gospel and more on the feeling it gives us and the blend.

Week 6

-Kevin focused again on Maria Walks again this week due to the class as a whole struggling with the ever changing dynamics and rhythm in each verse. This week i made sure to research online videos on YouTube of choirs performing the piece as when I’m struggling to learn a piece that is the first thing i do.

-Shirley took a break from the work we did the week before and discussed women in the music industry today and their impact on society. We actually ended up in an argument as she didn’t agree with a popular artist and their process with regards to music whilst myself and the class thought the very opposite! It was refreshing having a debate like that as we didn’t have much lectures about popular music in the last two years.

-Now that our gospel group was one hundred percent confident with our pieces, Kathleen wanted to challenge us once again by making us have a chat to at least two people who we had never talked to before. I found this extremely scary for some reason, being forced to talk to someone new was quite different to talking to someone new on your own accord!

Week 7

-To give our minds a break from two very technical pieces, Kevin introduced us to ‘Now is the Month of Maying’ which was a piece we were familiar with as the fourth years last year had performed it. Kevin explained to us what the piece meant and why it was very important that we understood the meaning of the piece, so that we could portray the story with our singing.

-Shirley decided to spend this class doing a lot more improvising exercises because she felt the energy in the class was down. Some people were not eager or open to spending the class doing this, however I don’t mind throwing myself into anything and seeing as it was a 9:00am start I was willing to do anything to wake myself up!

-In gospel this week we were informed that we would be doing a mash-up of ‘Knew you were waiting’ by Aretha Franklin and ‘Think’ with the irish traditional students for a performance on in the redemptrist church in limerick city. Most of us were familiar with both songs so it was just a case of getting the harmonies solid.

Week 8

-By this class we were familiar with now is the month of maying. I think my class is better at singing those upbeat humorous pieces as Kevin encourages us to smile which really improves our technique! Once again our mezzo line had some tricky notes, but with some concentration and work outside of class it would catch on eventually.

-This week we had chosen a number of songs to perform and hopefully use for our final performance. We had chosen ‘Thursday’ by Jess Glynne, ‘Born this Way’ by Lady Gaga and a mash-up of ‘Independent Women’ by Destiny’s Child and ‘Fighter’ by Christina Aguilera. I offered to accompany the class with piano as I wanted to be in the background a little more than I previously had been.

-Kathleen asked us in this class if we wanted to maybe have a more relaxed class as the energy and atmosphere in the room was very different to usual classes. She turned off the lights and asked us a few questions about this semester. It was nice to let some steam off as we were getting close to exams and deadlines for assignments were coming. For the remainder of the class we sang hallelujah without any guidelines.It was a powerful class.

Week 9

-N/A

-Shirley started giving roles to people, I was given a few one liners here and there. I also had the role during a scene which involved a teacher talking to students. It is a comedic scene and I had a lot of fun doing it. However, I felt as though I didn’t really have a choice whether I wanted to be the teacher or not. I don’t mean that Shirley forced me, it was more of a case as though none of the other girls put up their hands.

-After last weeks class everyone’s spirits and motivation were much more positive. We were touching on our original pieces every class, however with the performance being so close we spent this week in theatre one with the Irish traditional students practising. It is quite difficult having over 80 people in a room at a time (half of them with instruments) but we all focused and gave our attention to Kathleen.

Week 10

-Kevin had asked us to still look over the three pieces although we had no class last week. Once he came back he reminded us that we only had two weeks left. Sanctus was not in any way ready for an exam so Kevin decided that we would instead do ‘Now is the Month of Maying’ and ‘Maria Walks’ as we only needed to do two pieces for the exam.

-Lucy had come in for this class to give some pointers to us and to also showcase what the dancers in our class had been doing and what movement pieces they were going to do for the exam. We then added our own melodic ideas to it and it became a big moving and powerful part of our performance.

Week 11

-With only one more week to go until our exam, Kevin focused on small things and technical things. We were still a small bit unsure of the words in ‘Now is the Month of Maying’ so Kevin decided that he would make very small gestures to us to remind us of what was coming next. This as you can imagine also helped with us keeping a smile for the piece!

-This week I had been asked to accompany four girls in our class who were going to be singing titanium for the performance. Whilst playing I also found myself adding lower harmonies and the girls didn’t mind that I was adding them. We left the class to practice and perfect the piece while the others learned a short poem with Shirley.

-Our last class before the exam, Kathleen wanted us to try hallelujah again and told us that she would like to use that for the exam, instead of Let Praises Rise. With that she also made us learn a new song called ‘Ain’t gonna let nobody’ which was a very interesting a moving song. It encouraged us to be confident and speak our mind and let off some of that pre-exam stress we had been having!

Dear New ARMYs

Dear New ARMYs Please take good care of our boys when you become an ARMY. Please don't only love one member, as it's a rule for all of ARMY to appreciate every single member no matter what. First, there's our leader, Kim Namjoon aka Rap Monster He is brilliant. He's in the top percentage of intellects in South Korea, and taught himself how to speak and write English fluently. He raps like no other and is secretly the actual visual of the band. I mean, he's perfect. Second is Kim Seokjin. He's the oldest of the group, but acts like the youngest (maknae). His favourite colour is pink, and he loves food. He even has his own show called EAT Jin where he eats food live and talks to the fans. He's the visual of the group and most definitely the most underrated, so we welcome new Jin stans with open arms! Third is Min Yoongi aka Suga aka Agust D. I'm honestly not sure where to start with Yoongi, as he is my idol, and a person who I look up to a lot. He is the main rapper of the group, writes all the lyrics, and produces the songs. He is a god send. he's also the boyfriend of Jimin, though he won't admit it. I don't want to give a lot away, but you should look into him on your own, and read about his background, because honestly, he's been through so much and deserves the world. Fourth is Jung Hoseok aka J-Hope aka Hobi. He. Is. The. Fucking. Sun. Hobi, our hope, our angel, J-Hope. Hobi is the main dancer and actually makes a lot of the choreos for the group, so he's just amazing. He's very happy, energetic and honestly, you can't help but love him. His raping voice is very unique but beautiful non-the-less. Y'all better Stan him as hard as ya can because he's the real deal. Fifth is Park Jimin. Honestly, there isn't a soul in ARMY who doesn't like Jimin. He's so bubbly, and cute, and so much more. He's a lil smol bean, and is the shortest of the group and is thus made fun of for that reason. But, we still love him no matter what. Despite his angelic, pure face, this boy is sin and I'd be surprised to ever find someone who didn't like him from the off. Sixth is Kim Taehyung aka V. Tae (my first bias) is honestly perfect. He's the perfect blend of unique, cute and manly. This boy is O B S E S S E D with Gucci and he wears 100% Gucci only. One thing I NEED to point out: NEVER EVER GIVE HIM THE NICKNAME ALIEN. HE HATES IT AND ITS DISRESPECTFUL TO HIM. IM WARNING YOU RN. Anyway, he's lovely, and his voice is very smooth and deep, and just amazing. Last (and definitely not least) is Jeon Jungkook. My current bias, Kookie (his nickname) is the youngest of BTS and by far one of the best singers ever. He covers a lot of English songs which show his amazing voice, and he is referred to as the Golden Maknae as there is NOTHING he can't do. When he debuted at 15, he could sing, dance, rap, and everything in between. Jungkook is honestly talent in a human but very awkward so please take care of him. BTS stands for Bangtan Sonyeondan (방탄 소년단) which is Korean for Bulletproof Boy Scouts. Now I'm gonna make this clear - if you're a fan who ain't gonna stay, please, please, just don't hurt the boys while you're a fan. I'm aware there will be bandwagon fans and I'm prepared for it, but please don't hurt our boys. They're so precious and what they achieved last night is something no Kpop artist has ever done. Please respect them. If you're looking for bomb-ass songs to get to know them, here are a few (or a lot) to get you started: Cypher Part 4 - the newest instalment of the rap line ROASTING HOES Dead Leaves - my favourite, and pretty much everyone's favourite Tomorrow - literally saved my life Run - dasi run run runnnnn I Need U - this is dope af Dope - talking of Dope. Please send love and respect, and understand that Kpop is completely different to western pop. It is absolutely amazing, as idols are trained for years before debut. It's hard, backbreaking, and so different to western pop. Don't just Stan BTS either, there's lots of other AMAZING groups to at least take a look at, as BTS are a third generation group, second gens like EXO, SHINee and Big Bang are phenomenal and you should definitely check them out. Other third gens like GOT7, Pentagon and Red Velvet are equally awesome. The girls are amazing btw. Just putting that out there. There's also a k-hip hop scene which I LOVE LOVE LOVEEEE with the likes of Jay Park, Gray, Zico, Mino, Ugly Duck, Crush (kinda), CL, Hyuna and a shit ton more. ARMY welcome you all to the fam, we will love you and take care of you and teach you everything you need to know, but in exchange, all we ask for is respect to BTS, that's all. Dance Analysis 2 - This Is What We Want

1- What mood are you aiming to create? Describe the skills you use to create this mood. The mood we are trying to create is we are trying to make Monty feel uncomfortable. We are trying to create a joking mood whilst making Monty feel ganged up on by us all as factory, starting to suggest all the things we want. The mood is also determined because they want what they want and they are dertimined to get it. A skill we use to create this mood was reactions to one another and Monty to show we are directing the song towards him and by us all as factory girls reacting to one another, this portrays th message as being much stronger and showing as factory girls we all the want the same things. Another skill we use is audience interaction because when the line 'im pining for, whining for' because we want to connect with the audience and want them to understand that the girls have reached a point now where they fed up of waiting for change and the song has reached a serious point. 2- Were you successful in creating the atmosphere for this scene? Yes, I feel like I showed my character and showed my characters appropriate feelings and emotions. I showed good direct connection towards both Monty and the audience throughout the song and showed clearly in my performance that the song was specifically directed at Monty. I created eye contact with Monty and showed me as a character trying to intidate Monty and showed myself projecting the song towards him in this particular mood. I showed my characters cheeky side well when circling Monty with some material and showed a cheery and cheeky expression as this originally the songs purpose but then turn my expression to serious towards the verse 'pining for, whining for' as this is where the girls are being serious about the change in the work place and direct this well towards the audience with a serious expression to show the power of the message towards the audience to show the first stages of the women wanting the changes. 3- What do you need to do to improve your contribution to this mood? To improve towards the contribution of the mood, I think I need to explore my expression as I think the use simarliar expressions towards Monty. So to improve on making the mood of the scene more I need to experiment with more cheeky and smug expressions towards Monty so I am not keeping the same one each time and maybe experiment with doing a bigger different one towards the part where we all circle around Monty to make my contribution towards this specific part more bigger and entertaining through new, larger expressions. 4- What message does the song send to the audience? How do you enhance the message within the dance? What skills do you use to share this message with the audience? What could you do to improve your contribution to this message? The majority of the message within the song is the girls are sick of the work environment they have to work in and are complaining but also listing all the things they want. The girls then start to joke and start to suggest silly suggestions all having a laugh together whilst at the same time trying to belittle and gang up on Monty in the scene. Towards the verse 'pining for, whining for' the message sends to the audience that the girls are not messing around anymore and are now being serious and desperate for a change in the workplace. The skills I use in the message are change of facial expressions. 5- Where does the dance take place? Describe how you show this in the dance. Describe how this effects your movement. The dance takes place in the factory. The dance takes place towards the first chrous when the girls start all singing together towards Monty and working together to all get up, intimidate Monty and direct the song towards him. We show this in the dance by walking towards closely with big strides all as girls to create the effect of us all ganging up up on Monty. I show I am in the factory by in the factory ans by when me and Jodie both wrap Monty up on the line 'spread some joys around the place' with the factory material we use to make the car seats. I also show I am in the factoy as the girl states how hot is in the factory. I show this in the dance by doing gestures like fanning my face and agreeing with Cass on the line 'we want to work in places that ain't hot as hell'. I also show I'm in the factory when Sandra says the lines 'I want a roof that just won't leak' and gesture towards the ceiling and say 'its also fucking leaking'. I also show im in the factory when Sandra says 'I want a chair that just dont creak' and i gestures towards my chair and say to Cass 'mines been creaking for ages'. 6- Describe how your character feels within the scene. How do you show this in your movement? For example how does this effect your facial expressions and dynamics of the movement. My character feels giddy about the girls all ganging up on Monty towards the start of the song, but is giddy with the girls, not Monty. She is still annoyed at Monty at the fact my character is putting the blame on him for the fact the girls have been evaluated to an unakilled grade. I show my character as giddy in winding Monty up when towards the first chrous at 'spread some joys around the place' I wrap Monty up in the seat material and push him and start laughing amd smirk at Connie when I am told off because I am having a laugh winding him up. When I laugh I hold my stomach whilst returning back to my space in the song, still laughing. Towards the mext chorus, my character is more serious and my aim is to intimidate Monty. I show this by walking towards him using big strides whilst looking him straight in the eye with a straight and sturn face to show my character as attempting to intimidate him. By intimidating Monty this affects my movement as I walk slowly towards creating a slow and aggressive way to the audience on how I am trying to threaten him through my movement. The change in my character feels then turns to a more serious and genuine hope for change during 'pining for, whining for' because during this chorus I travel across in my own space, thinking to myself about how we have always been hoping for a change in the factory dur to not only the conditions we have to work in, but a change of management for putting us to an unskilled grade. During the next verse 'moaning for groaning' this verse is directed at Monty so I return back to my aggressive movement moving slowing whilst creatinf eye contact towards him showing this is personal now and I believe that their needs to be a change done in the factory. I show in my facial expressions I am annoyed and use big facial expression on this to enphasize my annoyance and anger and use big extension of my mouth when singing to do this whilst also tilting my head to show me as attempting to belittle Monty. Because my character is annoyed, this affact my movement as I show myseld folding my arms and with a solid posture when directing the songs towards him. 7- Describe three points in your dance which are good and explain why they are effective. Facial expressions. I think I show a good variety of facial expressions in the dance and show appropriate change of mood as the song carries on. For example, at the start the girls are messing around trying to gang up on Monty but then as the song progresses, the girls become serious about the change they want in work environment and show they are more emotionally invested in the chorus as they are annoyed that their needs as working women arent being met. I show effective facial expressions from showing my character as laughing and having a joke to serious annoyed expressions. Gestures. I think the gestures I use within the dance show my thoughts and feelings within the dance effectively. For example, I show body gestures such as folding my arms or having one hand on my hip to show the expression of my character angry and had enough of the way the factory runs and the way I show these annoyed gestures contribute towards showing the audience the atmosphere affectively. Movement. I think my movement in the dance is effective because it expresses the meaning of the song towards the audience and the scene well. For example, I travel acrosss the space confidently striding when approaching Monty to show my character feels she is strong ans dominant against directing the lyrics towards Monty and showing as my character I am aiming to get my point across within my forward and intimidating movement towards him. 8- Target three areas of the dance, which need improving. For example timing , facial expressions and dynamics. List and describe the moments you need to work on and film yourself improving these areas. Spacial awareness. I think in the song, I need to be more aware of people when travelling to a different part of the stage. For example, during the verse 'Pining for, whining for' I have to move into the space I was blocked in and a lot of the time bump into others to get to this space. To fix this, I may need to set off to my space earlier or later than the people who have to travel the space aswell to avoid contact. Change of emotion. I feel like the change of emotion in the dance needs to be a lot smoother. For example, I feel like my character goes too quickly from messing around with the girls and having a laugh to further on becomingannoyed and theres too much of a drastic change in my emotion. To improve this, I need to make notes in my script of specif changes of expression from turning annoyed so it is more of a believable performance and my change in expressions is a smoother transition. Audience awareness. I think during the dance, I mainly focus on Monty and the girls within the scene to me and don't make much audience interaction as I should. I need to have for eye contact and directed lines towards the audience I feel so the audience can capture my expressions more and the lyrics more on stage. To improve this I will imagine an audience in future rehearsal and experiment with ways I can look towards the audience and see which parts it fits into to make audience eye contact then write this in my script if it works successfully within the dance.
