So what would you love to see for Disney TVA's 40th next year? asking this in terms of celebration from Disney themselves
I would love to see more greenlights for new shows many from BCG crew members, in terms of reboots i think there should be official PRs for the TaleSpin and Recess reboots but specially would love to see series greenlight order for C.H. Greenblatt - Disney Channel series, i think he really deserves to find sucess at Disney.
Tumblr media
Speaking of D23 Expo, would love to see Disney Legends Awards giving awards to Tad Stones, Bob Schooley, Mark McCorkle, Rob LaDuca, Bob Roth , Bill Motz, Paul Germain, Joe Ansolabehere, Dan Povenmire, Jeff Swampy Marsh, Jose Zelaya, Bobs Gannaway, Craig Gerber,Mark Seidenberg, Paul Rudish and Noah Z. Jones for their contributions on the studio over it's 40 years.
Tumblr media
Would love to see something akin to Once Upon a Studio, my perfect idea would be Mickey and the entire characters of the studio getting ready to welcome to StuGo, Sam Witch, North Woods, Dog & Frog, Fantasy Sports, Neon Galaxy, InterCats, Rhona, Witchverse, Dusty Dupree, Cookies & Milk, North Woods, Tiny Trailblazers casts on a big party for the 100 series and next 100 shows.
Finally would love to see Very Important House getting revived this time for Disney Channel as next year is also the 10th anniversary of the pilot getting picked up for Disney XD
Tumblr media
Finally something like Wish did with it's end credits with each show created at Disney TVA on the credits of The School Of Sensitive Souls.

“Hamster & Gretel”: A Series With Promise
Tumblr media
Hamster & Gretel tells the story of 16-year-old boy, Kevin, who helps his sister, Gretel, when she and her pet hamster get superpowers. It is an animated action, comedy, and superhero series created by Dan Povenmire. He is well-known for being a co-creator of Phineas and Ferb, and Milo Murphy's Law, with his Jeff "Swampy" Marsh, often his writing partner. The series debuted on August 12.
Reprinted from Pop Culture Maniacs, my History Hermann WordPress blog on Feb. 19, 2023, and Wayback Machine. This was the thirteenth article I wrote for Pop Culture Maniacs. This post was originally published on September 1, 2022. This article was originally written for The Geekiary, but due to their guidelines I submitted to Pop Culture Maniacs instead.
Hamster & Gretel has a pretty simple storyline. An elementary school kid named Gretel (Meli Povenmire) is granted the power to fly and superstrength. She fights alongside her hamster (Beck Bennett). Her older teenage brother, Kevin (Michael Camino), tries to guide Gretel and Hamster. He helps them recognize what it means to defeat evil and remain superheroes.
The series is set in the same universe as Milo Murphy's Law and Phineas and Ferb. Although it has been stated that no official crossover will happen, it is not known which characters will reappear in Hamster & Gretel.
Diversity is a big part of Hamster & Gretel. Gretel and Kevin are Venezuelan lead characters. Their mother, Carolina Grant-Gomez (Carolina Ravessa) is Venezuelan. The fact that the head writer, Joanna Hausmann, is Venezuelan, as is Povenmire's wife, according to a podcast, inspired these characters.
Additionally, the series is based on a dynamic between Povenmire and his younger sister. It is also inspired by Povenmire's family. The series will focus on Kevin and Gretel's sibling relationship, according to show director Amber Tornquist Hollinger.
Hamster & Gretel includes many former cast and crew who worked on Povenmire's previous projects. Hiromi "Romi" Dames, who voices Hiromi, a geeky comic book ship employee that Kevin has a crush on, voiced Charlene & Sharon Burlee in Milo Murphy's Law. Phil LaMarr voiced Marcus Underwood in the same show, while Alyson Stoner voiced Lydia.
Danny Jacob, a composer, performer, and songwriter for Phineas and Ferb, is the series composer and song producer. Like Milo Murphy's Law, Povenmire is involved with the show's music. However, he is more involved in the songwriting for this series.
As for Stoner, her voice acting as Isabella Garcia-Shapiro in Phineas and Ferb is well-known. In this series, LaMarr voices a supervillain, Professor Exclamation. Stoner voices Lauren/The Destructress. The latter is part of an fraternal evil duo with Lyle/FistPuncher (Brock Powell).
youtube
Hamster & Gretel has promise as a new series due to its animation and voice acting. Even the simple storylines have the potential to lead to something more. It is easily digestible and doesn't take itself seriously. This quality is not only present in Phineas and Ferb and Milo Murphy's Law, but Kim Possible, a classic 2000s Disney series.
Reportedly, Hamster & Gretel has action sequences with better quality than the two aforementioned series co-created by Povenmire. The series garnered voice actors like Joey King, who voices Fred, a tech-savvy cousin of Kevin. Also, actor and comedian Matt Jones voices Dave, the father of Kevin and Gretel.
Povenmire voices an unseen extraterrestrial entity. Internet personality Liza Koshy voices Veronica Hill, a no-nonsense news reporter. Priah Ferguson (best known from Stranger Things) has a breakout animation voice role as Bailey, a school friend of Gretel. Also, Povenmire’s daughter, Meli, has her first big-time voice role as Gretel.
The show's voice actors are experienced. They voiced characters in The Simpsons, American Dad!, Adventure Time, Amphibia, and Onyx Equinox. Series such as Victor and Valentino, The Ghost and Molly McGee, The Legend of Korra, We Bare Bears, DC Super Hero Girls, Harley Quinn, Final Space, Craig of the Creek, and Disenchantment also featured some of the show's voice talent.
Diverse representation of characters of Venezuelan descent and Black characters, like Bailey, is a key part of the series. However, it remains to be seen whether there will be LGBTQ+ characters or not.
Specifically, Camino described himself as straight but said he doesn't want his sexuality "in a box". Stoner, as I noted in my review of Phineas and Ferb, stated her attraction to men, women, and "people who identify in other ways". She also said she wanted to remain fluid in how she identified her sexual orientation. Hopefully, these qualities are portrayed in the characters they voice.
Furthermore, the series has emphasized the importance of being your true self and acceptance. Having LGBTQ+ characters would not be a stretch. It would easily fall within the series.

Dave cries as Carolina introduces Dave's "lost" dad as a present
Even so, the series has some downsides. For one, it is not a young adult series like The Owl House, which will is ending possibly this year with its final season, or the recently ended Amphibia. Instead, kids and families are the target audience.
This is not unique. Currently airing Disney series like Big City Greens, The Ghost and Molly McGee, Chibiverse, Chip 'n' Dale: Park Life, and Monsters at Work appeal to this demographic. In addition, upcoming series such as Cars on the Road, Firebuds, Cookies & Milk, Marvel's Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, Tiana, Iwaju, Moana: The Series, Hailey's On It!, Primos, and Kiff are geared toward the same audience.
This contrasts with Star Wars: The Bad Batch and What...If?, which have more mature themes. Even The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder falls into this category. Such series are not, for the most part, the focus Disney executives. Instead, they want to remain family-friendly despite the growth of the young adult animation genre with series like Dead End: Paranormal Park, The Owl House, and Infinity Train.
In addition, the series has an issue with implied self-inserts. For one, Povenmire appears to loosely base Kevin on himself. Secondly, the father of Kevin and Gretel has a similar name to Povenmire. This complicates the series in various ways.
It is an open question as to how effective the series can be without Swampy, who is reportedly voicing characters later in the series, as a co-creator, and co-writer. Milo Murphy’s Law and Phineas and Ferb were strong due to their combined talents.
In addition, I have concerns about the series’ staying power considering the first episode is not strong. The theme song is not very good.
Furthermore, since Povenmire wrote and performed the song, it makes me worried that the series will be middling, rather than superb. Generally, I have a high tolerance for theme songs. But, I dislike this one more than Arcane‘s theme, sung by Imagine Dragons.
Tumblr media
Kevin and Gretel singing about family togetherness
Despite this, the pop music of Hamster & Gretel is like Milo Murphy’s Law and Phineas and Ferb. I was glad to see a rap battle at the end of “Neigh, It Ain’t So!” It reminded me of the much smoother rap battle between Rinku and Muni in D4DJ, voicing their grievances about each other in song. Hamster & Gretel may do something similar.
It is a distinct possibility that this series will do something akin to the sick battle dance in now non-canon 2005 The Proud Family Movie. It has a bizarre plot almost pulled from Kim Possible or Totally Spies! episode. Currently, such music battles generally only occur in anime series, but Hamster & Gretel could change that.
I liked the reference to the anime series within the show’s universe about cheerleaders who masquerade as students in the daytime but have superpowers otherwise. It had a feel of Totally Spies! and was a clear parody of absurd anime out there.
Situational comedy is an important part of the series, similar to Phineas and Ferb and Milo Murphy’s Law. It is coupled performances said to be “inspired“, featuring actors like Thomas Sanders, who voiced a character in the TV film, Candace Against the Universe.
With other Disney series like Elena of Avalor, Rapunzel’s Tangled Adventure, and Mira Royal Detective having elaborate musical numbers, it is likely that Hamster & Gretel will follow suit. There is also a distinct possibility that Disney will revive Phineas and Ferb as well.
Since ten episodes of Hamster & Gretel are on Disney+, the series appears to be one-third through the 30 episodes ordered for its first season. This means that there is a possibility that the series will become even better as the season continues.
Despite my criticisms, I tentatively recommend the series, and hope it improves in the future.
Hamster & Gretel can be watched on Disney+ or the Disney Channel.

10 more animated characters you may or may not know are autistic
So, I discussed 10 head canons last year and I decided to implement 10 more head canons this year. Link to m post from last year: https://toondisneypunx.tumblr.com/post/647331530293837824/10-cartoonanimated-characters-that-you-may-have
1. Aaron Mitchell (The Mitchells vs. The Machines)
Tumblr media
While watching The Mitchells vs. The Machines, I could easily tell that Aaron is autistic. Aaron is hyper fixated on dinosaurs, so much, it takes over his life. He avoids social situations, such as when he tried to approach a girl who like dinosaurs and ran away from her. Aaron is a great representation of autism because unlike other characters, he has a clear passion and special interest for dinosaurs.
2. Akko Kagari (Little Witch Academia)

Famous Animators that did NOT attend CalArts
CalArts is the top animation school in the world. Most well known animators attended the school and created famous movies and TV shows. I personally applied there and got rejected, and I hope to reapply and get accepted one day, even though it is super expensive. I basically made this post to cope with the fact that I am not going there.
1. Ben Bocquelet (creator of The Amazing World of Gumball)
Tumblr media
Attended École des Métiers du Cinéma d'Animation, a French college in their animation program. So stop saying Gumball has the “CalArts style”.
2. Dan Povenmire (created Phineas and Ferb)

My #1 post of 2022
So you are telling me that SVTFOE came out 7 years ago. I still can’t get over the fact that they didn’t get together in the finale:

let’s talk about:
phineas and ferb (also known as my favorite cartoon of all time... it was made in my birth year so it was like my birthday gift... fight me)
this cinematic universe has some of the best arcs. here’s a few examples:
- enemies to friends: phineas and buford
- best friends to lovers: isabella and phineas
- one sided crush to lovers: isabella + phineas and ferb + vanessa (the isabella and ferb brotp was real)
- bully-nerd lovers friendship: baljeet and buford
the family situations:
- mixed families
- single parents
- big families
- many ethnicities (but the animation for some was done DIRTY)
mysteries + secrets:
- owca
- phineas and candaces dad?
- ferbs mom?
- isabellas dad?
- bufords dad?
the clubs:
- fireside girls (superior troop is fireside girls troop 46321)
THE CONTENT IS RICH!!!
- 2 MOVIES
- SPECIAL EPS (season 4 was a blessing and a curse)
- DISNEYLAND/WORLD MEET AND GREETS
- tiktok. (dan povenmire is a legend for this... he legit marketed the movie perfectly. love you too swampy)
our fanart is top tier. (these are some examples below)
- carlybella (tumblr, tiktok, instagram)
- whypple_ (instagram and she has tumblr too i think)
our fanfiction is... chefs kiss.
fun fact is actually have 238 fanfiction saved just of phineas and ferb (mainly phinabella) on ff.net
music. music. music. (do i need to say more?)
BUT... i can except our flaws.
diversity:
we had diversity. but i wished they would’ve added more color to isabella AND I KNOW she is white and mexican so she could just be a white passing mexican since she is mixed but... THEY PLAYED ON HER MEXICAN HERITAGE SO MUCH AND WE BARLEY GOT TO SEE IT. (ex: mexican-jewish parade)
^^^ we also barley saw her do anything related to judaism. (only occasions: “or menorahs?” and her saying she got the best gifts for hanukkah and that she didn’t celebrate christmas, but then the following years she did?)
ACT YOUR FRICKIN AGE:
- why didn’t they get together in hs?
- if you add up the ages most kids go to college when they’re 18, so isabella had a massive crush on phineas when they were eight and wanted to date? huh????? please at least ten
- the stupid confession scene. i hate it. i hate when people kiss, hug, or show some sort of affection in front of people ESPECIALLY if they clap. (spoiler alert: they clapped)
- why are you just trying to get your friends together when you know isabella has to be to school THAT DAY?
- you’re trying to tell me buford didn’t screw up... just once?
- THE MANIPULATION SCENE???? (they’re toxic and need to break up!! i am tired of this... where is buford when you need him?)
- they had night of the living pharmacists... it was there... that could’ve been your flash forward episode. they could’ve been 13-14 and have to save danville LIKE YES it would give me danny + sam vibes.
conclusion: you can’t go wrong with this show. it was executed amazingly for how long it took to air. the music change every episode is flawless... we have a better soundtrack then glee. (glee my god that’s such a hard show to get through... i’m still on episode one. but the clips are hilarious. like utterly funny i just need help.) the animation is very good and it still is clean and precise from 2007... and going to the new 2020 movie it looks the same with just so may improvements that you can tell but you can’t tell because it felt like the early 2000s again. love love love pnf for life.
overall score of this show: 10/10

I have only just now discovered the coolness of Cameo.
Celebrities out. The. Wazoo. We got everyone from WWE Superstars like Asuka, Alexa Bliss and Kofi Kingston to actors like Ernie Hudson (Ray from Ghostbusters!) to Robert Englund (Freddy Krueger!) to Tom Bergeron, host of America's Funniest Home Videos, to CHRIS HANSEN HIMSELF, there's Kenny G, Tony Hawk, Jonathan Goldsmith a.k.a. The Most Interesting Man, Penn from Penn & Teller, Dolph Lundgren, Ernie Sabella (Pumbaa!), Ryan Hurst, Felicia Day, funk legend George Clinton, Billy Dee Williams, John Ratzenberger, Efren Ramirez (VOTE FOR PEDRO), Tony Hawk, Dean Cain (Suuuuupernaaaaturaaaaaal~), deadmau5, David Hayter, and so, so, SO many more holy CRAP. ...the only catch is that as you might expect, hiring ANYONE costs quite a lot of moolah. ...well, except for South Korean singer Hanbyul Jang, you can book him for like $16 USD right now. Dan Povenmire's on there, too! There's even animal influencers. $15 is a small price to pay for PUPPER.

Been tagged by @reynaruina to tag my 5 favorite pairings from 5 different series/fandoms (which I'm guessing means no crossovers? makes it more challenging ...). Some of them might be kind of obscure, but you'll just have to roll with that.
Thompson and Nate and Lee (not a pairing, but meh; rules are for squares) from Gravity Falls by Alex Hirsch. I'm convinced Thompson is gay, and has an unhappy home life, so he deserves some love from two of the people he clearly craves approval and affection from. And it wouldn't surprise me at all if Nate and Lee are bi or pan, so ...
Milo Murphy and Zack Underwood from Milo Murphy's Law by Dan Povenmire and Jeff "Swampy" Marsh. Admittedly, this is more thanks to @murphygloss and @laneypenn 's freakin' adorable art of them than from really anything in canon, but--damn it all!--I can ship simply because I find the characters cute. I don't have to justify why all the time!
Arthur Penhaligon and Fred Gold from the "Keys to the Kingdom" series by Garth Nix (a series y'all should seriously read, because it's fantastic). Personally, I think this ship name should be "Penhaligold", and since @tysonoffire and I are the only ones who ship it, I think we get to decide.
Hades and Persephone from http://a-gnosis.deviantart.com/ 's series of incomparable comics. She does such nuanced and complex reimaginings of the myths, and the two are both such sweet, delightful dorks while also being really fucked up in a bunch of fun ways-- like all the other immortals (and the art is so crisp and clean! y'all should read these, too, and comment on them)!
Zelda and Ganondorf from @figmentforms 's equally incomparable comic A Tale of Two Rulers. Likewise, she takes the Legend of Zelda canon(dorf), and revamps it in such an engaging way! The story is enthralling while also being really funny--perfect blend of romance, humor, psychological suspense ... (and her art ... HER FRICKIN' ART ... so rich! the expressions ... so unbelievably rendered! y'all should read this, too, and comment on it!)
Anyone who reads this and would like to consider themself tagged may now do so with my blessing.

Why Disney D23 dosn't give Disney TVA Creators some of the Disney Legend Awards?
Good Question! if i had to make a guess i could be........... actually no idea since some Disney Animators from Disney & Pixar get the award to and i always wondered why they leave Disney TVA creators behind, i guess in the 2022 edition we will probably get Matt Groening as the next one

For the Disney TVA Disney Legends thing (I didn't ask the last one but still), did you decide the creators based on how prolific they were (like amount of shows involved in) and that's why some other creators of successful shows like Daron Nefcy, Matt Braly, Frank Angones, and Craig McCracken weren't considered?,
Alert of : MUCHO TEXTO
From my research and since i went to the 2017 edition for a day, the ways you can have the Disney Award is the next:
1) Be Part Of The Disney Family
2) Worked On Tons Of Disney Projects
Daron Nefcy worked in 2 Disney Projects
Matt Braly worked in 5 Projects
Frank Angones worked in 3 projects
Craig McCracken worked in 1 Disney project
So they don’t count, Daron is at Nickelodeon, Craig is at Netflix,Frank well he is still at Disney but who knows if he inked a deal or will he be part of Rogen’s Darkwing Duck Reboot or will he leave the company like Chris Sonnenburg and Braly well we still have a long time to know what the future holds after Amphibia ends.
The first 11 creative members where a part of The Disney Afternoon and Disney’s 1 Saturday Morning Sucess
Alex Hirsch is a exception since he provided voices for other Disney shows and helped develop Fish Hooks and worked in many Gravity Falls related book projects and was a creative consultant in The Owl House.
Dan Povenmire & Jeff Swampy Marsh created one of Disney’s biggest TV IPs since The Disney Afternoon days: Phineas And Ferb with many crossovers, movies, books, videogames, attraction in the parks, character meet and greet later they did Milo Murphy’s Law and now Dan works on Hamster And Gretel.
Who knows if Swampy renewed the deal since he is now with Pete The Cat but worked in Phineas And Ferb CATU
Noah Z Jones created Fish Hooks the second highest rated animated program before Gravity Falls and later he designed the main looks of The 7D, created Pickle And Peanut and like Chris,Shane, Dan & Swampy he has a deal of creation at Disney so who knows what his third Disney show will look like and he was one of the candidates for the voice of Milo Murphy.
The Houghton Brothers worked in many Disney stuff before BCG: Shane and Chris did The Simpsons Comics for Bongo and later Chris went to work on Gravity Falls and Wander Over Yonder later he co-writted and co-directed the Mickey Mouse 2013 short Clogged and later Shane co-wrotte the book of  Gravity Falls Dipper's and Mabel's Guide to Mystery and Nonstop Fun
They pitched a Disney show called Welcome To Simpleton but it was rejected due Disney not wanting a ensemble show a year later after greenlighting the pilot.
But the studio liked them and thus Big City Greens was born and now is the highest rated animated series on Disney Channel something that shows like DuckTales used to have in 2017-2018 and like Dan,Swampy & Noah they have a development deal and i wonder after BCG ends they will repitch Welcome To Simpleton again

So hypothetically if Nickelodeon had the equivalent of a Disney Legends award, which animators and creators would you think they'd give it to and why?
TBH
Stephen Hillenburg's Family deserves a Disney Legend Award for Stephen despite not working at Disney but dude he pumped the careers of Tom Kenny, Dan Povenmire, Kaz, Aaron Springer, Merriwether Williams, C.H Grenblatt, Kent Osborne, Noah Z Jones, Kris Wimberly who at some point created things for Disney on both TV and Feature.
Jim Jinkins, Klasky Scupo, Joe Murray, Craig Barlett, Jhon A Davis, Jhonen Vasquez, Rob Renzetti, Eric Robles, Michael Dante DiMartino,  Bryan Konietzko beacuse they still have some fondly  connection to the network since the majority of the others got their shows screwed or they became very problematic...
