With it being Spring and all, I figured i'd share this little tip I just read!

Make Mosquito Repellent Candles

First slice one lemon and one lime (this will be enough for two candles).

Then add a couple of slices of lemon and lime to the jar.

Next add a couple of sprigs of basil.

Then fill jar with water up to threads.

After that, add in 10 – 15 drops of lemongrass oil.

Now stir.

Then add in floating candle.

Finally, light the candle and enjoy a pest free summer!

I mostly keep this shit in my head and I can make a huge list of it but dawg most of mine involves my silly interpretations- plus I seen people

It’s kinda a mess to think about but I’ll go to my personal favorites

X being chunky always gives me some feels for me, like he would fucking rock it. He’s actually more tanky then Zero while he’s sorta at times a glass canon (Mf Died like multiple times and X died Once). It derives from the idea of why he chose a thicker body, because the area of his stomach was pierced by Sigma like twice. So basically it gives him extra defense. Despite the it he’s just a Flexible as ever but a bit more slower.

Meaning that his “Stomach” area is incredibly sensitive and he will smack you on instinct if you touch it. He suffers phantom pains occasionally. It's a massive bitch but he got used to it.

(Aka I believe Burly/chunky X supremacy)

X has a soft spot for children okay, since he’s very approachable to children, he would even let them draw on his armor. Babies are a definite weakness of his their tiny hands will make him cry so hard

So it would make sense that he would be a parent but he would rather settle down to start a Family in peace times and after he himself healed and rested.

Zero is kinda a low key creature, in the sense that he actually has retractable claws and can run on fours but only for extremely rare occasions. That's because he’s not only the ultimate war but also the ultimate predator. Aka he’s fucking lion coded

One of the reasons why X and Zero are always different compared to other Androids and shit is because they were made from Alien tech/Energy stuff. You can’t fucking tell that Dr Light didn’t used the material that Duo left to include that while making X right? And Zero…We all know Wily was on some crack (I’m always a believer that He used evil energy to create Roboenza and what could eventually become the Maverick Virus). And no one knew about the whole fiasco with Duo aside from Megaman and the others. So it makes sense that Light and wily (Possible Cossack knew something about it) Used it for their final creations.

Marty (From the MMX manga that I’m absolutely so normal about) has so much knowledge of Marine life and the ocean, Rescue worker regulations and information is insane. How the flying shit did a marine rescue worker end up as an infamous Pirate Queen is a mystery to anyone.

She's also tall and muscular and is absolutely more “Beast-like” (Having scales, fangs and retractable webbed claws) to give off a more intimidating impression to keep folks away from her and her crew.

Speaking of her Crew they are all composed of other marine Rescue types, a couple Human Cyborgs (and a few non cyborgs) and a few Repliforce defectors. (A small fun fact in my silly XxMarty Valentine manatee oneshot, Marty brought up Gale Albatross who’s actually a former Repliforce soldier that defected as soon as they declared independence not wanting to be apart of it but is untrusting towards the hunters).

She may not look like but she genuinely cares for everyone in her crew and would do anything to protect them. She also courted her hair after her fight with Byte back at X3 manga. She has matured over the years but still holds her mischievous/prideful personality.

Contrary to what it's led to believe her crew aren’t like…bad or act like actual pirates. It’s more like they are more of an independent group. Since that they deal with poaching, taking out criminals out of sea, providing relief for coastal communities that were strongly affected by war, etc…They just Red Alert if they weren’t Bounty hunters.

Axl is absolutely a Streamer and a bit of a meme master. He’s a deadly actor and trickster so watch out he fucking glad that he’s a goober!!

Ask and ye shall receive 😌💖 have a few notes regarding the character conception process behind these three (dw no spoilers). Enjoy the deets for Lazuli, Rust, and Donovan below the cuuuut

LAZULI

It's important for me to have political intrigue and drama in Offline Valor--assassination plots at masquerade balls n all that. That's why the Big Bad of Offline Valor ends up being directly tied to a lot of that kind of activity; however, you have Rowan who is a scruffy, aloof, infamous war hero who isn't really the "socializing type" and Zelly who IS the social-type but is coming into this with fresh eyes as our audience surrogate.

So in comes Lazuli, princeps (a gender neutral term in Offline Valor, for the child of a reigning monarch) of House Silver. They're confident, charismatic, suave, brilliant, and not afraid to call Zelly a child to her face (despite being sixteen times smaller than the streamer). And they have a PAST with Rowan too! They were once really really really really close, but something drove them apart--now Lazuli is filled with anger and Rowan with shame. So when the Big Bad rears his ugly head, Rowan & Zelly have no choice but to go to Lazuli for assistance. But of course, Lazuli

RUST

Much like Lazuli, Rust was created to give Rowan a proper rival. But in this case, a physical one. A lot of my appeal with Rowan is that despite being a few inches tall, he is DEADLY and STRONG and incredibly capable. His struggle isn't "needing to do more" it's "learning to do less," and Rust helps typify that struggle. Rust is not a force that can be beat head-on. She's a Borrower, true, but that doesn't mean she doesn't have the means to take on Humans either.

And despite being the "strong, silent, masked merc" ala Boba Fett, Rust has a lot of fun conflict internally and while a lot of that will probably be explored in the Second Story for the Offline Valor setting, I plan to show off some of those quiet story elements in her character design and how Rowan & Zelly start to interact with her once they start piecing more of her story together as they try to stop her and her employer, the Big Bad.

DONOVAN

I lovingly blame my dear friend @chamomile-g-tea for this one. Parents in G/t aren't something that I've seen very often, and if they are it's just in passing. Because of that, I've really started to think about the families for my main OCs (with exception of Rowan, since a lot of his conception was already built around the family life he grew up in) but also I had the urge to make a more prominent OC (in the same vein of important as Maura, Rust, and Lazuli) who was a parent. Cue Donovan!

While she is a general in Genesis Day and a prominent member of the agency hunting down Freyja & NUVA-002, Donovan isn't afraid of breaking rules and defying orders from her superiors--and a lot of this comes from the influence of her daughter and her feelings towards the agency's mission statement as a whole. As seen briefly in the Interlude of Genesis Day, she gets impatient with protocol and arbitrary rules and is happy to overstep Director Barrus if it means saving lives.

Donovan's story is the one I'm probably MOST excited to tell. And while it is pretty Genesis Day-centric, I'm incredibly excited to start including her in more AUs too--as either a small or a big.

Now that summer is in full swing, mosquitoes have come out across the United States. The use of mosquito repellents can protect both your health and sanity this summer.

While mosquitoes leave bothersome, itchy bites on your skin, they can also pose a serious and sometimes deadly risk to your health. When a mosquito bites you, it may transmit harmful pathogens that cause dangerous diseases like malaria, Dengue fever, Zika and West Nile.

Avoiding mosquito bites

Mosquito females bite people to get vital nutrients from our blood. They then use these nutrients to make their eggs. One single blood meal can give rise to about 100 mosquito eggs that hatch into wiggling larvae.

There are several ways to avoid getting bitten by mosquitoes, from wearing long, loose clothing and limiting time outside to placing screens over your windows and getting rid of standing water that mosquitoes might use to breed.

However, one of the best ways to protect yourself when you’re going to a place where hungry mosquitoes will be buzzing around is by using mosquito repellents.

Our team at the New Mexico State University Molecular Vector Physiology Laboratory has studied different types of mosquito repellents and their efficacy for over a decade. Here’s what you need to know to protect yourself this summer:

All about repellents

The use of mosquito repellents goes far back in history, certainly predating written historical accounts. Some of the oldest records of the use of mosquito repellents date back to early Egyptian and Roman history. During this period, smoke from smudge fires was often used to repel mosquitoes.

Today, we have more options than our ancestors when it comes to choosing what type of mosquito repellent to use – sprays and lotions, candles, coils and vaporizers, to name some.

These repellents interfere with a mosquito’s sense of smell, taste or both. The repellent either blocks or overstimulates these senses. Scientists understand how certain repellents like DEET work at the molecular level, but for many of them, it is still unknown why exactly they repel mosquitoes.

Mosquito repellents that don’t work

Bracelets don’t work. Department stores and pharmacy chains sell hundreds of different varieties of bracelets. They are marketed as “mosquito repellent” bands, wristbands and watches, and their materials can vary from plastic to leather. Even if they are loaded with repellents, they can’t protect your whole body from mosquito bites.

Ultrasonic repellent devices don’t work. These come as electrical plug-ins, free-standing varieties or watchlike accessories that claim to emit a high-frequency sound that deters mosquitoes by mimicking bats. However, in scientific studies, ultrasonic repellent devices fail to repel mosquitoes. In fact, when our lab tested one of these devices, we found a slight increase in mosquito attraction to the wearer.

Dietary supplements – vitamin B, garlic and so on – don’t work. No scientific evidence shows these supplements protect people from mosquito bites.

Light-based repellents don’t work. These devices come as colored light bulbs, and they don’t attract insects that fly toward white light. This approach works well on moths, beetles and stinkbugs, but not on mosquitoes.

Mosquito repellents that work

And here is our ranking of what does work, starting with the best repellent/active ingredient.

DEET works. DEET, chemical name, N,N-diethyl-meta-toluamide, was developed in the 1950s by the U.S. Army and is a well-established mosquito repellent with a long history of use. The higher the percentage, the longer the protection time is – up to six hours.

Picaridin works. This synthetic repellent can protect for up to six hours at a 20% concentration. This repellent is a promising alternative for DEET.

Oil of lemon eucalyptus, or OLE, works. OLE, with the active ingredient PMD, is a plant-based alternative to DEET and picaridin. Its repellent properties can last for up to six hours.

Other essential oils – some work, some not so much. We applied 20 different essential oils in a 10% essential oil lotion mixture to volunteers’ skin. Here’s what we found:Clove oil works. This oil, with the active ingredient eugenol, can protect from mosquito bites for over 90 minutes at a 10% concentration in lotion. Cinnamon oil works. This oil, with the active ingredients cinnamaldehyde and eugenol, can protect from mosquitoes for over 60 minutes at a 10% concentration in lotion. Geraniol and 2-PEP, or 2-phenylethyl propionate, work for about 60 minutes at a 10% concentration in lotion. Citronella oil works, just not so great. We found citronella oil at a 10% concentration only protected from mosquito bites for about 30 minutes.
