Due to a current boycott of Paramount and Paramount+ I'm watching this from a pirate cove and I'd encourage you to do the same and without further ado live blogging of Star Trek Discovery and as always 🌟SPOILERS🌟

Season 5 Episode 3

I knew it's a unpopular opinion but I like the design of the 32nd century ships they feel so advanced from regular trek that it really helps out the feel of being so far in the future

A joined Trill oh how lucky we are imagine if it wasn't and the trail just went cold

I looked it up my complaint from last week has been solved all that odd looking aliens from the background of 32nd century Discovery have been named! The wonderful Facian, Deakohn, Ckaptir, Sarrotheyn, Schlerm and Hornish all have names and even logos now yipee!!

I heard a rumor that Paramount was purposely ending any lgbt representation on Nu-Trek from Seven and Raffi on Picard, Mariner and Jennifer on Lower Decks and SNW didn't have any to erase anyway but I personally always thought that was the reason Discovery got canceled was all the lgbt representation baked into the show you can't get rid off or write off

I'm not big on the game Star Trek Online too much fighting not enough exploration but I did like the appearance and lore they gave the Tzenkethi but I doubt they'll appear on screen but I also wouldn't be too bothered if Discovery went their own way with it

I'm liking the optimism of the future theme this season has so far

A tracking device I was wondering how the bonnie and clyde duo would keep up because I doubt that they'd pass any test

Another really good episode I enjoyed quite a bit and while I've always been neutral towards it Saru and T'Rina has been growing on me

Small edit: I just read Lower Decks is also canceled after 5 seasons maybe it's just the new thing also I forgot to mention how happy I was to see Reno again

In summary, 5 books, 49 movies, 64 tv shows of varying levels of engagement and 27 cultural experiences.

Easily the least number of books I've read in a single year since I could read. Mostly because it's hard and tiring for me to read with bad eyes and spending long days reading with my job. Interesting that I'm being drawn more to non-fiction than fiction these days.

Wow I watch a lot of tv and film. I really enjoyed Fresh off the Boat and multiple seasons of Below Deck this year. The right balance of entertaining and easy to wind down to and knit to after work.

I feel like I don't gig anywhere near as much as I used to, and that makes me sad. But I do like that I'm still doing on average a cultural thing every two weeks. Less gigs, more other types of culture and I'm definitely throwing lots of support behind the local culture scene.

You will always be missed, Cory Monteith.

Best known for playing Finn Hudson, The quarterback in glee which he did an amazing job of and no one else can ever play finn like he can. Sadly he had died from a lethal combination of heroin and alcohol and was found in a hospital room at 31. and it is also said that ‘S5:E3 The Quarterback’ was The hardest episode to film because it was very emotional and he was actually gone.

JOHNNY SILVER

April 16, 1918

Johnny Silver was born John Silverman in East Chicago, Indiana. Silver's performing arts career started early, singing as a youth, and then expanded to acting. His early career involved performing with actor John Raitt at L.A. City College as well as radio work. He also worked as a burlesque comic.

He made his big screen debut in the screen adaptation of Guys and Dolls (1955) playing Benny Southstreet (above center). A clip from the Damon Runyon musical was included in the original airing of “I Love Lucy” episode “Lucy and the Dummy” (ILL S5;E3) on October 17, 1955 as part of the MGM show. The clip was removed after the first airing and has never since been part of the episode. Ruskin did not appear in the clip.

Prior to that, he made his small screen debut on “NBC Television Opera Theatre” doing three episodes in 1950.

It should be no surprise that he made his Desilu debut on “The Untouchables,” doing two episodes in 1959, and 1960. Both times he played uncredited ‘gangsters’.

From 1956 to 1961, Silver appeared as various characters on seven episodes of “The Danny Thomas Show” aka “Make Room for Daddy”, shot at Desilu, twice playing Mr. Shermahorn. The series did cross-over episodes with “The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour” in 1958, although Silver was not part of it.

From 1961 to 1965, Silver appeared as various characters on five episodes of “The Joey Bishop Show”, shot a Desilu Studios.

From 1963 to 1965, Silver appeared as various character on fifteen episodes of “The Dick Van Dyke Show,” also shot at Desilu.

Back on the Desilu lot in October 1966, Silver played an alien (actually an actor playing an alien) on an episode of “Gomer Pyle USMC” (above right), cast because of his height, 4′11″. “The Lucy Show” did a cross-over episode with “Gomer Pyle” a month later, although Silver was not part of it.

From 1962 to 1972, Silver did four episodes of “My Three Sons” shot at Desilu, the first two opposite William Frawley.

In February 1971, he finally joined Lucille Ball on the “Here’s Lucy” episode “The Hollywood Unemployment Follies” starring Carol Burnett. He plays the shortest of four Canadian Mounties singing “Stout-hearted Men,” a song by Sigmund Romberg and Oscar Hammerstein II.

He returned to the series in November 1972 to play Benny in “Dirty Gertie” (HL S5;E10) in a nod to his character Benny Southstreet in Guys and Dolls.

His final screen appearance was a small role on “Seinfeld” on May 18, 1955.

He died on February 1, 2003 at age 84. He was married to Gloria Manos and was survived by their two daughters: Stephanie Silver and Jennie Silver, who work together as a singing duet called The Silver Belles.

The Masked Singer: S5, E3 (The First Wildcard Enters) Running Commentary

As always, I post before I see the episode’s unmasking. If the Wildcard performs before anyone is unmasked, I’ll include them in my commentary.

Russian Dolls 🪆: Three planets in their Solar System mobile. The letter M, and one of the dolls referring to a medical emergency. If I didn’t already recognize their voices, the medical emergency story kind of seals it for me that this is Hanson. The medical emergency? I seem to remember hearing a story about Isaac Hanson (the oldest brother in the band) suffering either a pulmonary embolism or some emergency related to blood clots as a teenager, which he thankfully survived. (Blood clots are no joke; my paternal grandfather died from a pulmonary embolism a few years before I was born, which means I never met him.) The letter M is likely a reference to their signature song, “MMMBop”.

Raccoon 🦝: Started acting later in life, knows how to box. He can’t sing worth a lick, but at least he’s having fun. I was gonna say, definitely not Mickey Rourke, he was Gremlin last season! 😂 I thought it was Gary Busey last time, but I don’t think Gary Busey was ever a boxer. However, Danny Trejo was. Trejo was in and out of prison during his youth, and while he was serving a sentence in California’s notorious San Quentin, Trejo competed as a boxer, becoming a top boxer in the prison’s welterweight and lightweight divisions. It was also during this time that he focused on overcoming his drug addiction, and has reportedly been sober for 50 years.

Robopine 🤖 🦔: Hourglass, lightning bolt, police lights, cat & mouse, references to Costa Rica. Also, heavy metal and a fear of spiders? I’m still stumped.

Seashell 🐚: Seems to suggest she’s married to a baseball player. I seemed to think this person maybe wasn’t a singer for a living, but an actress. I can think of an actress married to a (former) baseball player who may fit this bill: Joanna García-Swisher.

Orca 🐳: Our first wildcard! Lemon, orange, pumpkin. Clock shows 2:59. 1313 Melville Court...Moby-Dick...written by Herman Melville. I was thinking Moby, but that doesn’t sound like his voice. I’m getting a vibe that this could be either Michael Rapaport or Adam Sandler. His shout at the end made me think of Adam Sandler.

QUEEN OF THE ASHES

I have been re watching the show from season 1, making notes in every episode and paying attention every time they change from one scene to another and its just unbelievable how much foreshadowing there is about Daenerys burning down KL. I believe that both Cersei and Daenerys will destroy Kings Landing fighting for the Throne, but the show has been pointing out to Dany pretty much from season 1.

S1 E3 – King Robert calls Jaime Lannister and asks him about the time he killed the Mad King Aerys. He asks Jaime what was the Mad King’s last words and Jaime says the king repeated what he has been saying for hours. **Burn them all**. The next scene its Daenerys in Essos riding with the Dothraki ordering them to stop the horde. Jorah comments that she is starting to speak as a queen and she corrects him: not a queen, a Khalessi. I have been re watching the show from season 1, making notes in every episode and paying attention every time they change from one scene to another and its just unbelievable how much foreshadowing there is about Daenerys burning down KL. S1 E10 – The sorceress Mirri Maz Dull tells Daenerys she killed her son because he would be the Stallion who Mounts the World, who would burn cities to the ground. The show is very precise about prophecies due the lack of time, they only show what is absolutely necessary. They left this prophecy because it will have relevance in the storyline. We now know that it was not Dany’s son, but Daenerys herself who would be The stallion who mounts. The prophecy says that the Stallion is the "khal of khals" who will unite all the Dothraki under his single khalasar and ride to the ends of the earth. That’s what Daenerys did in season 6 and 7. If the prophecy its confirmed, she will be the one burning cities and trampling nations into dust.

>Mirri: Innocent? He would be the Stalion who Mounts the World, now **he would burn no cities, now he will trample no nations into dust.**

S1 E10 - Dany decides to kill Khal Drogo and burn his body next to her dragon eggs. She lays next to him and promises to reunite with him one day "When the sun rises in the west and sets in the east".

The next scene happens in Kings Landing Kings Landing with Maester Pyrcelle and Ross in his room; he is remembering the Mad King and what likeable and charming man he used to be in his youth, before madness took over him.

The episode ends with Daenerys entering the fire pyre to eventually hatch the eggs and give birth to 3 dragons. She had this idea from a dragon dream in the early nights.

S2 E4 - Dany arrives in Qarth and they dont want to let her in, thats the first time she threats to burn down a city and destroy completely. Daenerys is not mad or insane. Her pride its her weakness, she is a very arrogant woman and when her pride is hurt she loses her head and makes drastic and terrible decisions. S3 E4 – In this scene, Varys tries to alert Lady Ollena of how dangerous Littlefinger is. Pay attention at the words he uses to describe Littlefinger, those are the exact same words Tyrion used to describe Daenerys when he met her in Meeren.

>Varys: **"Littlefinger was born with no lands, no wealth, no armies.** He acquired the first two, how long before he has the army?" Varys was afraid that Littlefinger would destroy the realm trying to get the Iron Throne, so he decided to bring Daenerys to Westeros, ironically, she will be the one turning the kingdom into ashes.

S3 E7 – In the Throne room Joffrey asks Tywin about Daenerys and wonders if they should do something about her. Tywin dismiss his concerns and tells him that “Curiosities on the far side of the world are no **threats** to us. Westeros continues to ignore Daenerys and her dragons.

Westeros continues to ignore Daenerys and her dragons. George RRM called Daenerys and the Army of the Dead, much bigger threats that could destory the kingdom, but people were so worried about the selfish politics in Kings Landing that they ignore the danger. Joffrey was the only one who saw it the real problem but everyone ignored him.

S5 E10- Right after the scene where Stannis burns down Sheereen at the stake as a sacrifice for the Lord of Light, they cut to the scene in Meereen where Daenerys and Hizdahr are presenting to the reopening of the Fighting Pits. During their conversation Daenerys explain that destroying an entire city it may be ncessary in order to acheieve something great.

Hizdahr - That is a vital part of the Great City of Meereen, which existed long before you and I and will remain standing long after we have returned to the dirt.

Daenerys - One day your great city will return to the dirt as well.

Hizdahr - At your command?

Daenerys - If need to be.

Hizdahr - And how many will die to make their happen?

Daenerys - If it comes to that, they will have died for a good reason.

Hizdahr - Those men (in the fighting pit) think they are dying for a good reason.

Daenerys - Someone else reason.

Hizdahr - So your reasons are true and theirs are false? They don’t know their own minds, but you do?

This dialogue pretty much sums up Daenerys as a character. She is starting to rationale the idea of burning cities to the ground in order to achieve an objective, as something necessary, while not realizing that she is losing her humanity, just like those men who are fighting in the pits. She is using excuses of a greater cause to justify the deaths of millions.

S6 E6 - Bran Stark has a new series of visions and one of the visions include a dragon flying over Kings Landing. In the DVD comentary the producers D&D made sure to observe that the image of the dragon flying over Kings Landing it was one the most important image of the whole show.

S6 E8 – Cersei shows up at the Throne room for a Royal announcement, Tommen declares Trial by combat forbidden in all 7 Kingdoms. Cersei then asks Qyburn about the rumor of wildfire under the city, he confirms that the rumors are true and is much bigger than they expected to be.

The very next scene? Meeren being attacked by the rival cities of Slavery Bay. Missandei tells Tyrion: “The Masters have come to collect their properties”. That’s how Daenerys sees Westeros, something that belongs to her and her alone.

S6 E9 - Daenerys returns to Meereen and finds the city being attacked by the Masters of the rival cities. She then tells Tyion about her plans against the attack.

>Daenerys: “I will crucify the masters. I will set their fleets on fire, kill every last one of their soldiers, and return their city to the dirt.”

That’s the second time now that Daenerys threats to burn down a city and turn into ashes. The third time will be Kings Landing and no one will be able to stop her then.

S6 E10 – The scene where Jon Snow is crowned KITN, Lord Cerweyn tells the room that they need to go home.

Daenerys nickname that she likes to repeat is Stormborn. We all were led to believe that The Army of the Dead would be the greatest threat to Westeros, but its Daenerys and her dragons that we should all be scared of.

I now believe the Night King and TAOTD was a redherring for the real threath that will devastated Westeros and the way George did was kinf of brilliant. The very first scene of the book and show its the rangers going North of the wall and fiding the White Walkers and we were all so scared and terrified of them. Then the last scene of the book 1 and season 1 its the birth of the dragons and we all celebrated!!! We were soo happy and excited, DRAGONS, thats amazing. But Now I believe that it will be the dragons that will bring misery to the Kingdom.

They did the same on season 7. In the first episode Daenerys finally arrives on Westeros and we are all so happy, finally!!!! Dragons again flying over Westeros, thats amazing!!! we have been waiting for this for decades, then in the final episode the Army of the Dead breaks down the wall and finally enters the Kingdom and once again weare terrified!!1 They are here, oh my God, what will happen? But it was the dragons, again, in the first episode thatwe should have been scared of.

Ted often gets typed as INFJ when he’s actually ISFJ (believe me, I’ve re-watched the show countless times to know). He likes his routines. He enjoys reliving the past and recounting his stories to his kids in great detail, while a Ni-dom would be way more to the point. It’s only after looking back several years later does he finally draw some insights. An intuitive would have known better who’s “the one” instead of seeing every single girl as a possibility. Most of Ted’s goals in life - career, marriage, family, are rooted in his need for security as an enneagram 6 and Si desire for tradition.

Now who’s the one with intuition? Victoria. Victoria is INFJ. She’s the one with the crazy theories. “The thing that always screws it up is the next day. This is a big romantic wedding. Why don’t we just dance and have a great time, and then when it’s over, never see each other again. No emails, no phone numbers, not even names. Tonight we will make a memory that will never be tarnished. Then when we’re old and gray, we’ll look back on this night and it’ll be perfect.” It’s even suggested that she wants to distance herself from reality. “We’re not gonna kiss tonight. If we kiss, all of this becomes real - then poof, the spell’s broken. The best part of any first kiss is the lead-up to it. It’s like a big drumroll. Victoria is the one with the great insight into Ted’s life, “Robin is so much bigger in your world than you realize. And this thing that you’re all doing, you and Barney and Robin, where the three of you just hang out at the bar night in, night out, like you’re all just buddies? That doesn’t work. Trust me. I’m right about this.”

Victoria foresaw the outcome. “I really hope you get her some day.” Ted did not see it coming, but Victoria did.

Now the show creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas? At least one of them is INFJ too. They had a grand vision for the show and how it would end, and centered the show around a theme. All that stuff about destiny - the credit goes to the creators, not Ted.

Tracy is ENFP who makes intuitive assumptions about Barney and Lily based off of very little information. Stella is ISTJ and not ENFP like she’s often typed. Cathy (the one who talks a lot) is ENFP and a 9. Robin ISTP Barney EXTP Lily ESFJ Marshall INFP Zoey ISFP. Karen is the stereotype of the ISFP 4w3. Breadcrumbs....

Talks about spoilers under the cut…

I have not watched the leaked ep 6, but do talk a bit about what I have read here in the Jonsa tag about it (I will say that I am aware that I can’t fully form an opinion on the new ep without actually seeing it myself - I need CONTEXT!)

I’m going to mainly talk about the theory that Jon could be ‘playing’ D for her help with the WW. When this notion first came out directly after the leaks back in October - I must admit that I pretty much dismissed it…I didn’t want to put credence to it just because I wanted it to be true. But the more and more I think about it, the more I’m coming to realise that it is a real plausible possibility - and D&D have left clues like a trail of breadcrumbs to lead me to that conclusion…

Lets look at those breadcrumbs -

What has Jon been told?

“A Targaryen cannot be trusted” - Lord Royce, S7

“We called your brother King, and then he rode South and lost his Kingdom.” - Lord Glover, S7

“…takin’ up with a foreign whore, gettin’ himself and all that followed him killed.” (with regard to Robb - “And where was King Robb when the Ironborn took this Castle…?”) - Lord Glover, S6

“You have to be smarter than Father, smarter than Robb” - Sansa, S7

“You’ll never be a kneeler again.” - Tormund, S4 E10

“My father said that northerners are different, more loyal, suspicious of outsiders.” - Sansa (to Davos), S6

What I’m trying to show with these quotes is that Jon has been warned. He should be aware. The foreshadowing in these quotes is heavy and I don’t doubt that Jon would think on these words.

What has Jon said himself?

“D@enerys has her own army and she has dragonfire, I need to try and persuade her to fight with us.”- S7 E2

(D@enerys) “And you say you can’t defeat them without my armies or my dragons?” “No, I don’t think I can.” - S7, E4 (just plopping these two ^^ here to reiterate that Jon was aware that it wasn’t just the dragonglass he was after when he set sail for Dragonstone.)

“The North is my home, it’s part of me and I will never stop fighting for it, no matter the odds. But the odds are against us. None of you have seen the army of the dead. None of you. We can never hope to defeat them alone. We need allies, powerful allies. I know it’s a risk, but I have to take it.”- S7, E2

“What was it father used to say? Everything before the word ‘but’ is horseshit.”- S7, E1 - I’m adding this one because apparently Jon says to D “I would kneel BUT…” (and then gestures to the fact that he’s naked in bed.) I’m not saying that he won’t kneel in ep 7 - just illustrating that he may not be completely sincere about the gesture.

“My people won’t accept a southern ruler, not after everything they have suffered.” -S7, E4

“Northerners can be a bit like the Freefolk, loyal to their own.” - S5, E2 said to Stannis, who replied “I know, my brother Robert went on often and loudly about how difficult it was to control them - even with your father’s help.”

[About D calling her dragon’s beautiful] “It wasn’t the word I was thinking of but-” D glares at him “but, yes, they are. Gorgeous beasts.”- S7, E5. Here we see Jon correcting his truthful slip. He is obviously trying not to anger D and stay in her good books. He knows he needs her.

“I came here knowing you could have had your men behead me or your dragons burn me alive. I put my trust in you, a stranger. Because I knew it was the best chance for my people, for all our people. Now I’m asking you, to trust in a stranger because it’s our best chance.”- S7, E5 Adding this one to show that Jon still considers them to be strangers - no matter how many heart eyes D is throwing his way.

Another quote from the recent leaked ep that I have only read about on Tumblr is “They will come to see you for who you are” - when D asks Jon “But what of your people?” after he suggests that he would bend the knee. No, to me, this sounds a little evasive and not at all comforting (I will have to wait and see it for myself though). It could well be foreshadowing for the start of Targbowl being ignited by the North rebelling against Jon’s decision to kneel.

With the above quotes I see three things - 1) Jon is well aware of how the North will take his decision to kneel 2) He is DESPERATE for D’s help, and 3) He is trying to say the things she wants to hear.

Other things to consider:

The switch in Jon’s demeanour from ep 5 (where Jon considers them both to be strangers) to in ep 6 (where apparently he offers to call her his Queen and suggests that he would kneel.) What happened between those two instances? Jon nearly died AND he actually SAW what D’s dragons can do to the WW. His surety that he NEEDS them will be stronger than ever.

“Everything that happens will be something you’ve seen before.” - Petyr Baelish to Sansa (and the audience) - S7, E3. Do you know what we’ve seen before? Jon slept with Ygritte to further his ruse with the wildlings. In the end, he loved her, but forsakes his love for her in favour of his vows with the Night’s Watch. As lots of people have speculated that Jon will be D’s third betrayal - a betrayal FOR love, it would be a nice inverted parallel for Jon to forsake his vows (bended knee) for his love this time (love of the North, love of the Starks, perhaps love of his sister/cousin Sansa).

Something else we’ve seen before? Waaaaay back in season 1. Ned Stark knelt to Joffrey even after saying this to Varys “Do you think that my life is some precious thing to me?….I learnt to die a long time ago.”….to which, Varys replies “And what of your daughter’s life my Lord? Is that a precious thing to you?” - this shows that Ned was so honourable that he was prepared to die rather than kneel before a wrongly proclaimed King…until Sansa is brought up and he is willing to go against that very honour that is so much a part of him. If Ned can kneel before Joffrey not to save his life - but to perhaps make things better for Sansa, then I think Jon is quite capable of following in papa Stark’s footsteps and do what he thinks will save the North - even at the price of his honour.

Other characters keep mentioning that Jon is staring at D - to which a lot of us are asking ‘WHERE’? - but isn’t that the point? If Jon is kneeling and sleeping with D because of some big romance where he has fallen/is falling in love with her - then wouldn’t it be prudent to SHOW THAT ON SCREEN? (Yes, I am aware that i have not yet seen ep6 - but IF Jon is engaging in some sort of ruse, then the point in which he wakes groggy from a near death experience, is probably one in which he may feel the need to up the ante with his persuasions - I don’t know - I need to watch it first).

Talking of things that I have not yet seen - I’ve seen it mentioned that after their (J&D) conversation at his bedside, Jon feigns sleep and then looks regretful? worried? guilty? at the camera. This expression will be very telling because he is alone and will not be trying to school his expression in the presence of anyone else. I will need to wait and see when i watch it - but it sounds like it might be important.

I’m sure that there is something to Jon not wanting D to know about his death and resurrection. It may just be a way of showing that he does not trust her enough to let her in on that bit of knowledge.

In conclusion, I’m not saying that Jon is definitely trying to manipulate D in exchange for her help - but it is certainly worth considering and wouldn’t be completely out of left-field - it makes sense. I’m also not saying that there’s no attraction between them. But the overall motives behind Jon bending the knee will be because he feels it is the best course of action in securing D’s armies and her Dragons - not because he’s blinded by love.

Supergirl - S5 E3 - Blurred Lines

I'm begrudgingly considering watching Batwoman, mainly because I'm OC'd and I'm watching the other DC-CW series, but God damn, I catch glimpse of it whenever I cue-up Supergirl and the DVR has recorded the last few minutes of the preceding Batwoman episode, and it's not inspiring me with any confidence. It apparently takes them 3 episodes to give her, her God damn hair - the hair we saw Batwoman sport nearly a year ago in the crossover, meaning at least part of this season is set in the relative past, presumably. But then we get this bullshit commentary about "the bat being back, but curvier and sexier," like fuck you. How the hell can you tell what this person looks in this suit? And so much for the urban legend angle. More importantly, how dumb is it that they have work so hard to come up with her name? Are we supposed to believe anyone was seriously considering calling her "Batchick"; while "Batwoman" flies under the radar? Moving on.... So at the end of the last episode, we see Billy-the-Kiss ass volunteering at a shelter; now he's hassling some guy at a night club about playing ball?

Of course Kelly gives random people she meets on the street unsolicited advice about their lives; because nothing makes someone more sympathetic than someone who likes to stick their nose into other people's business. And it seems this show has once again tricked me into walking into a double entendre. It's her job to listen to people? What is Kelly's job? She's so boring and last season seems like a lifetime ago, I have genuinely forgotten. Is she supposed to be a therapist or something? I suppose that explains her guiding J'Onn through this ordeal in the previous episode; I was wondering what made her qualified to do that, but it seems completely incongruent with the high tech coporate setting they've put her in. And Alex going from Kelly giving advice to her barista to being kidnapped by a shape shifter is a hell a segue. I have a feeling Alex has been waiting hours to find the right opportunity to bring that up; and it would seem she cracked under the pressure. "You don't want a world full of robots, you just want better people."

Oh.... Idiot Jed..... How does Brainy even function? Data was more adept at picking up behavioral cues. Wait, do people really like reading about death? I mean, I'll read the obits in my weekly hometown newspaper; I try to make it a point of at least paying respect to he recently deceased by reading their name and age at the time of death, but I'm don't go out of my way to scan for newspapers with a corpse on cover. Interesting aside, I was reading said newspaper just last night and noted how a local woman had died at the age of 44 - certainly a tragedy for a family to lose someone at such a fairly young age - and then I also saw that it noted her "husband of 30 years" and now I'm left wondering if one of those numbers was a typo or if this woman got married at 14..... So she hears Billy's heart beating fast and has to use her x-ray vision to confirm it? What else did she think it could have been? Okay, so Kelly is a Doctor. Yet the place she works doesn't remotely look like a hospital; and the staff don't look like medical staff. They (and the set) looks like they're trying to audition for a future JJ Abrams Star Trek film. So Kara is going all over the world to get lunch and coffee, but are any of these items going to still be hot by the time she gets back to the states? For that matter, how the hell does manage to carry all of this shit? I have a hard enough time carry my order from McDonald's from car the dozen or so yards into my house; especially if I have to also carry in anything else besides the bag of food and my drink. The couple of time I had my niece with me also got her something I absolutely asked the server at the drive-thru to put it all in one of those plastic bags they normally put salads in, because they have a handle - a fact I learned not because I have ever previously ordered a salad from McDonald's, but rather because I asked them if they had a bag with a handle they could put my order in to make it easier to carry and they responded, "you mean like a salad bag?" and I respond, "yeah, whatever." I'm just picturing Kara rigging up some sort of harness or something she can wear to help carry things around as she flies internationally; thumbing her nose at all of the customs agencies and international trade violations she's willfully causing. Also, now that Brainy has set it up so her suit materializes as soon as she takes the glasses off, shouldn't she get more clear of the doorway before doing that? That also raises the question of what happens when she just wants to lounge around without her glasses or is going to bed. Does she have to sleep in her suit now? Is it bonded to her skin? Is there a snooze button that allows her to take off her glasses and not activate the suit? What if she just needs to remove her glasses to get something out of her eye or to clean the glasses? Or those times like earlier in the episode when she just brings the glasses down just slightly to use her x-ray vision? What's the point of no return her glasses have to pass before the process starts? Can it be immediately reversed when she put the glasses back on; or is it something you have to wait until it's all the way done before you can go the other way? There are so many questions..... Seriously, Kara, Lena would be the only person interested in Lex's journals and there'd be no other constructive use for them other than therapeutic? Wait just a damn minute, she took her glasses all the way off to x-ray the dead body and didn't generate her suit. What the fuck? You lied to us Brainy. You lied and that can't be forgiven. What, the boy being called J'Onn might be J'Onn? Whodda thunk it? Although I suppose J'Onn might be a common name on Mars, like John, Jacob or Jingleheimer Schmidt. I can buy that children on Mars or other planets even might develop games similar to hide and seek; it's a basic concept that seems fairly plausible. What doesn't seem plausible is that children on Mars would play this game as humans. So in the last episode, J'Onn hit a wall in trying to recover his memories; and it was suggested that trying to use the Q-wave technology to go any deeper could do damage to J'Onn. Now this episode J'Onn barely has to try, with the help of a woman who isn't even a telepath. Kara can fly halfway across the world to get lunch for her and Lena, but forgets to put in an delivery order for dinner with Alex - come on Kara, strap on your harness and go get dinner, chop, chop! You know, if Terrible-Boss gets and more terrible, Kara could probably make bank moonlighting with GrubHub. Or start her own food delivery service - SupperGirl Should Brainiac have a clapper, as opposed to say, Alexa? Now that I think about it, why is Brainiac using his appearance filter when they're home alone or when he's sleeping for that matter? Surely these devices don't have an unlimited supply of power; and Brainiac shouldn't be concerned about his appearance in private. Guardian: "Yeah, I came prepared." With what, a glow stick? Seriously, is this supposed to be not-Spider-woman's not-Kryptonite? Did I miss a whole big schpiel about this alien thing have some special weakness? And why didn't Supergirl likewise come prepared? Also, who looped James into this? Was it Kara? "This device uses magnetic resonance to attract the heavy metals in their ink." You really could have just said "this device des magic" and it'd make about as much sense. Especially since it's not really ink, but rather some type of alien life form that only mimics the appearance of a tattoo. Are we supposed to be surprised that it was actually J'Onn who did the mind wipe? Like I mentioned with the last episode, I'm fairly certain he's wiped other people's minds without the permission; and we definitely know he's done it with their consent. In the last episode, Kelly was able to use her contact lenses to enter J'Onn's mind and interact with him in real time. Now it appears on a computer monitor and there's a time delay. In spite of this apparent de-evolution of the technological ability to merge one's mind with technology, this is still some next level shit that the characters just seem to be glossing over as no big deal. So if this...shadow... could kill bug-lady so easily, why even need her at all as an assassin? Was it for the plausible deniability of the target seeming to die of natural causes Is this going to turn out to be the Shadow Thief? Maybe Shade? I kind of hope it's not Shade. I know he (or sometimes she) has been a villain, but I kinda liked the run in the comics when he was an immortal good guy. Come on Brainiac, there's a fucking difference between "operating at 100%" and the fucking nuance of going overboard with things like food and poems. It's the sort of difference between being able to open a fucking door and ripping clear off the hinges; or holding someone's hand gently or crushing it. It's unrealistic to suggest that this quasi-organic-AI doesn't realize you can't go "full thrust" on every conceivable thing, because nothing in nature could function that way. And if he really needs things in those terms, then it's a matter of variable comprehension of where those critical thresholds are; because 100% maximum food consumption in a meal is not dozen whole pizzas. That is more than 100% of what one person can physically eat in one sitting and therefore should exceed his logical behavior. On the flip side, mazel tov when things turn physical and Brainiac brings this type of mindset to the bedroom....

Fuck you Supergirl Writers, for trying to bring this back to the opening bit between Kelly and the random person she was offering advice to on the street. J'Onn's brother manipulated Kelly by appearing to her as someone she knew and had at least enough of a past history with as to have a photo of him in her home. Had he appeared as the street barista or was just walking along the street not even looking for Kelly when Kelly came along, randomly zapping people with Q waves to help make them feel better, whether they asked for that help or not, sure, that would be "her fault". But this was a sneaky fucking telepathic shape shifter was determined to get your to do what he wanted; and while admittedly it barely took him much effort to convince you, it was only because you were legitimately doing what would have been the right thing under any other normal circumstance. "For a friend like you, there are no boundaries." Alright, now the writers are just fucking with us with these two. So Kara evidently didn't just pop in and grabbed the books, but also the watch too; seems she decided that so long as she was committing a felony, she might as well get her money's worth - and I suppose that makes sense. Is stealing some journals and a watch worse than just stealing the journals and not the watch, if you've only had to break into the one place? Next we'll see that she just cleared out the whole evidence lock-up, because you never know when you might need something else that's being held in Federal custody, and that way she's only had to break the law once; anything after that is just curation.
