I see there’s a reptile expo in town this weekend and decide I want to get a jumping spider there.

I already have a spider enclosure, given to me by a previous roommate, but I look into jumping spider care to make sure the enclosure will be adequate. I find out that most people would consider this little box “too big”. I don’t like that, nor do I like that every enclosure I’m seeing seems to look like a dollhouse. I look further and find a different group of people with bigger, more natural enclosures that house thriving spiders. I decide the enclosure I have is way too small and that I also want to make one that is bioactive. My new plan is to use the 5 gallon terrarium I have and move the current residents, 5 beetles, into a 10 gallon tank with my 7 other beetles, and then move some zebra isopods I have in a 1 gallon tank into the 5 gallon with the spider and then get aquatic isopods for the 1 gallon. It’s a lot. I inevitably realize I can’t actually make the 5 gallon work for a spider, since it’s top-open, and look for a front-open terrarium that’s a size I like. I find one, which I decide to look for at the reptile expo, since it’ll probably be cheaper there. I then decide I can still use the 5 gallon for some powder blue/orange isopods that have outgrown the bin they’re in, and then use the bin for some dairy cow isopods I have that are sharing a bin with some giant canyons. I need to buy and mix more substrate to do this, which I decide to buy the stuff for at the reptile expo. I’ll have a bunch leftover, so I decide I might as well redo my millipede tank while I’m in the process. I want to rid the tank of dwarf white isopods, though, so I decide the best way to do that is to start fresh by buying a new 10 gallon at the Petco 50% off sale and have the old one on hand as a spare. I also decide the dairy cow isopods would do much better in the millipede tank than the bin, leaving a bin open for yet another species of isopod. I realize I can’t ever possibly ensure the live plants in the millipede tank are 100% free of the dwarf isopods, so I decide to replace those plants and put them far away, into a little open terrarium in the living room that my mom gave me. I look into other terrarium plants to replace them. I find out that I already have extras of several suitable plants on hand. I decide to also put some plants in the new isopod tank. I figure out I’ll probably need to buy a few more plants to fill everything, which I decide to look for at the reptile expo. Now that I’ve planned the spider, beetle, millipede, and new isopod tanks, I decide to look into what isopod I want to get for the bin. I discover the one I want is illegal in Oregon. I get distracted looking at which ones are illegal. I then somehow get distracted in the process of being distracted and end up on a quest to ID one of the solo beetles I got in a mystery box. I still don’t remember how I got there from isopods. I’m now playing with the photo ID function on my phone. Eventually, I successfully ID them, along with the other mystery species I have, and in the process I accidentally discover my favorite bug seller has 3 for sale. I buy them. I decide a single 10 gallon isn’t adequate for these 4 large beetles plus the 11 smaller beetles I have, so I decide to set them up in the “spare” 10 gallon I’ll now have. I don’t have room for this. I come up with a plan to completely rearrange my bug and wall shelves in order to make room for this. I remember I was looking at isopods. I eventually decide on a couple species to look for at the reptile expo. I realize I’ll also need more plants and cork and wood for the new beetle tank, which I decide to look for at the reptile expo. I make a list. On the list, I decide to start planning out the aquatic isopod tank. I have everything I need for this on hand, since I have a giant bag of aquarium sand for my hamster, plenty of spare plants I can poach from my main aquarium, and a couple nice pieces of driftwood. I then remember I have some cholla wood I need to boil and put in my main aquarium. I decide I need to rearrange the entire aquarium to accommodate them.

I think maybe I didn’t actually need to pay to get an ADHD diagnosis.

I don’t think I can afford to buy all of this at the reptile expo, now.

pinky and the brain - s1e2: of mouse and man

episode summary: brain needs money to build a perpetual answering machine to occupy everyone in the world for long enough for him to take over. to do that, he needs an absurd amount of money, so he decides to get a job in an office!

and then fake a nondairy creamer accident that turned him into a mouse, because as we all know, brain has to take the most dramatic path he possibly can in life, or he dies.

the rundown:

we open with pinky showing off his ass.

PRODUCED BY PETER HASTINGS. i assume that means the episode, and not the ass. the ass was initially produced by pinky’s parents and then helped along by the warner brothers’ dietary experts for their. mouse actors.

brain isn’t feeling it right now.

instead, as he plucks a rib from the lab’s anatomical model of a human being, and uses it to unpick his cage, he angsts - WRITTEN BY PETER HASTINGS - he angsts over the Dark Side Of Man, that has built war machines and pollution spilling factories and

VOICEMAIL.

as pinky continues to stick his ass out (though onlyfans wouldn’t be launched for another twenty one years) brain runs through his latest plan, which, of course, involves voicemail.

look at those wiggles. this is a rough draft episode.

anyway brain intends to reroute all telephone conversations into his confusing, recursive, voicemail service that, he claims, will keep the human race occupied for “at least seventy two hours.”

“more than enough time for a well prepared mouse to seize control of the planet.”

“i see! so all we need now is a well prepared mouse.”

I???????

HOLY FUCK

brain is unhappy. i am not surprised.

“i am a well prepared mouse, pinky.”

“oh. well. there you are, then.”

unfortunately this plan comes with the pitfall that it will cost.... one million, six hundred and fourteen thousand dollars. which is a lot of money, or, as pinky puts it, “a lot of money!”

as brain wonders about how to raise these funds (”without running for congress”) pinky pinkys off to watch some tv.

anyway so brain’s new plan is to get a job, stage a

this episode also has a lot of faces. god, but these mice are so bloody cute. youtube has not yet been invented, but one day it will be, and all brain has to do is sit in front of a camera and nom some corn and go O:O with his face, and everyone will be crying over him within minutes.

it’s so sad that he doesn’t know that.

but for now, he has a job interview to go to. good luck, brain! can’t be any worse than that time allsaints forgot about me and the manager acted like it was my fault.

“impressive credentials. you’re certainly qualified. are you married?”

“oh, yes, i have a lovely wife and two beautiful young children.”

“oh that’s too bad. we’re looking for someone who has no life. thank you.”

as family man walks off, dejected, in comes a completely unsuspicious fellow looking for an honest living honest living, just like in rent the musical.

his arm is acting up, a bit, but it’s fine.

“very impressive resume. princeton, harvard, six years in the industry-- tell me, mr brain, what are your long term career goals?”

“i plan on taking over the world.”

“you have drive! i like that! but confidentially, taking over the world is my job, hahahaha.”

”yes. haha. ha.”

”now. brass tax - are you married?”

“i do have a roommate. but he’s very busy with his own activities.”

HA HA HOO HOO HOO

“but. one more thing. about your head. isn’t it rather small?”

“no. not for my race.”

“no! no, of course not-- and your people are such... good... cooks... with their tiny heads, uh. please. excuse me for one second.”

“carol! send everyone else home! i got myself a minority person!”

anyway. brain gets the job.

“mr brain! welcome to the world of re-reinsurance!”

he’s delighted.

back at the labs, he plots his untimely demise at the hands of re-reinsurance,

stating the accident “could be bluffed by altering the mollecular matrix through a substrate platform of microwaves.”

pinky’s response to this is “look brain, i made a choo-choo.”

“oh, and me without my video camera!”

in simpler terms, he explains to pinky that he will stage an accident, “utilising the microwave oven and the non-dairy powdered creamer.”

“because”, to pinky’s apparent horror, “nobody really knows how a microwave works.”

“but why the powdered creamer, brain?”

“nobody knows how that works either.”

(and then, i guess, there’s a scene where some guys jump him on the train for some reason,

i’m only putting it here because this guy is like “oh, you’re funny, you’re a regular gallagher”

and brain’s like “you think gallagher is funny?”

anyway then he ties the dude into a pretzel and throws him off the train.

bonk. it adds nothing, but it’s very funny.)

“this is your cubicle right here. if you need any office supplies, ask the office manager and she should have them over in two or three months.”

it’s brain’s first day at work! his boss reads him the company policy on

vacations, personal phone calls,

and sexual harassment.

“don’t worry about it. you’re safe if you avoid all contact with other humans.”

“my goal in life.”

as brain unpacks the things that pinky has packed for his “home away from home,

awwwww.

his nosy cubicle neighbour inquires about brain’s “pet mouse,”

elaborating that he keeps mice! haha! to feed to his pet snake!

to be fair this is also me around snake people. more understandable in brain’s case, being that he is, actually, a mouse, and i am a human person who may be slightly obsessed with tiney small flofys.

(they play tennis on their lunch break and brain sets him on fire, so it’s not too bad.)

upon his return from the office, pinky, who has dolled himself up to the nines, presents brain with a Yummy Dinner of Food Pellets With Food Pellets.

i will say i think it’s really cute how this show keeps pushing the narrative that pinky just really, really wants to be an old timey housewife. he just spends his time watching i love lucy (when Fish TV isn’t on) and stuff like that and he’s just obsessed with the idea of dusting something alluringly but ineffectively and making brain little dinners.

and it’s so fucking cute!!! what??? it’s adorable. as soon as they get the world pinky better get a little dollhouse kitchen room with lime green everything and a functioning oven.

“please, pinky. i’ve had a very tough day.”

“oh, you have? you’ve had a tough day?”

“what about my day, brain? we always hear about your day, but what about mine?!”

“DO YOU EVER ASK WHAT I DID TODAY???!”

the next day, at work, brain is vexed by the fact that nobody has refilled the coffee machine.

unfortunately brain’s mechanical arm chooses now to malfunction.

she’s into it?

brain maintains that it was a mistake, and he doesn’t find her attractive at all, because brain knows how to talk to women.

she is no longer into it.

horrified by his semi-accidental fuckboy behaviour, brain heads out as quickly as he can, only to be immediately called into his boss’ office.

despite brain’s claims that “the young lady appears to have misunderstood me,” which i’m sure will hold up well on twitter,

mr boss man reveals that he has done some fact checking, and there is no record of brain attending harvard or princeton.

“oh.”

he is given the ultimatum that he either produce his diplomas, or HIS CAREER IN RE-REINSURANCE IS OH OH OVER!!!

very sad!

looks like it’s time to stage a workplace related accident.

he pours the creamer everywhere, discards his suit, and runs up to plonk himself merrily into the pile.

ahem.

HELP, HELP. A TERRIBLE OCCUPATIONAL DISASTER. I’VE BEEN MAIMED BY AN ON THE JOB ACCIDENT REQUIRING MASSIVE WORKERS’ COMPENSATION.

as others in the office crowd around to look, brain makes his dramatic reveal.

“i’ve been turned into a mouse!”

obviously mr boss man won’t pay that kind of money.

so, as brain emphatically tells him, I’LL SEE YOU IN COURT.

The Man From Washinton asserts that brain’s claim that he is a mouse is preposterous.

good thing brain has xrays to prove it! they “clearly” define his “mouse skeleton!” wait a sec and he’ll grab them.

oh shit! where they go?

(”there really is only one conclusion here.” says a local doctor.

“this man is a mouse.”

“then i’m afraid the only conclusion here, doctor,”

“is that you have never seen these.”

“i trust this might keep you quiet.”

(BRUH/???????????????) (if boss man is out here bribing people with lingerie, he could have tried that way before this got to court.)

egged on by the lack of evidence in Mouse Corner, christopher walken produces the artefacts from brain’s office cubicle.

“i ask you, when was the last time you heard of a mouse winning a bowling trophy?”

“ugh. pinky.”

“yes?”

turns out pinky is here because “they’re not covering this on court tv,” but does advise brain that “it’s a good thing they didn’t find the mechanical suit, eh, brain?”

oh shit.

“pinky, you must go to the office and get that suit from the kitchen closet. do you understand? if they find that we’re sunk.”

“oh! brain! you want me to help!”

off he goes!

fall mouse. bonk.

(he sneaks into the snack delivery.)

(poit.)

(unfortunately, he gets delivered straight to the vending machine.)

“well. yes. i had noticed his... small, furry head, but i assumed that was normal for his people.”

“and what people would that be.”

“i’m not sure? i think they’re from europe?? maybe france.”

“the size of my head and whether i was a man before the accident is not the question, here. the fact is i am now a mouse.”

(meanwhile, at fiero:

“try the fruit rollups. they’re yummy.”

“oh, i am doing well. poit.”)

“so how exactly did the accident happen, mr brain?”

“some bizarre thing involving a microwave oven? i don’t know exactly-- no one really knows how they work.”

“incorrect! in the oven, a magnetron produces microwaves which cause water molecules to align, and reverse alignment, producing heat, and not mice.”

“the accident also involved a.... nondairy powdered creamer.”

“ah. um. oh.”

(meanwhile,

pinky attempts to drive.)

“mr brain, in your experience with other mice, are they intelligent?”

“no.”

“exactly. your honour, i contend that mr brain is simply too intelligent to be a mouse.”

oh dear.

(meanwhile,

pinky tries not to get hit by a car.)

“but-- no, noo, i’m not intelligent.”

“i am a simpleton! yes. like any average mouse!”

“um. narf.”

that’s mean, brain, considering the aforementioned narf is on his way to save your gay little ass right now, but whatever.

“so you would have no problem with me saying that albert einstien was a champion surfer.”

“what-- i mean, no.”

“or that the temperature of the sun is a comfortable seventy degrees fahrenheight.”

“i wouldn’t know--”

“or that the fermi-dirac’s distribution function is a soup kitchen?”

“that’s preposterous! your honour, the fermi-dirac's function is, for any system of identical fermions in equilibrium,”

“the probability that a quantum state of energy -- E -- is occupied!”

“my word, man! don’t you know your quantum statistics!”

bonk.

“oh, blunder.”

and what a blunder indeed! the judge decides to rule that brain’s intelligence proves that he is “not a mouse, and that being the basis for your claim, i now dismiss charges against fiero and company.”

“.....very well. i’ll go now.”

“i’m afraid not. i find you guilty of fraud, perjury, and appearing naked in a public place. take him away.”

good thing they have human man sized handcuffs for this human man! brain looks incredibly perturbed, despite the fact he could probably swim in them. and also that he... kind of lives in a prison anyway, if you think about it. oh, cool, can’t wait to evade that cage so i can go live in my other cage.

hm.

luckily, pinky arrives to save us all from that particular moral quandry.

“i got the suit, brain! i got it!”

“pinky--”

the police attempt to intercept pinky,

so he knocks them over. hoo hoo.

brain falls over,

attempts to enter the suit through the shoe,

and is squoshed for his crimes.

faced with a veritable army of police, at this point,

pinky activates the emergency protocol,

says blue lives scatter,

and fucks off out of the courthouse.

we stan a legend.

unfortunately brain got a fair few ouchies during his prison break, so pinky bandages him up. it’s very cute.

anyway, i’m giving this one to brain, on account there were, yknow, a fair few ways that could have been mitigated. fiero fucked him over, though, so i’ll give him that.

Captain has mikrophobia, a fear of very small things. Think dollhouse furniture, those weird tiny rubber hands, miniatures like for tabletop games, stuff like that. Also arachnophobia (spiders), and pediophobia (dolls)

and Sparta has zoophobia, a fear of animals in general. So far the only things he’s not shit-scared of are spiders; he’d get a pet tarantula, but then Captain would move out...

Random Stardew Valley pop culture and current media Headcannons and musings

Thanks @moon-boat for getting me thinking. You don’t have to take any of these seriously.

Clint is a music hipster one of those annoying ones that brag about seeing uncle Tupilo before they broke up even though he would of been 7 at the time

Clint makes chainmail jewelry as a hobby and sells it on the internet. Nobody knows about it because he feel like making jewelry not a craft that’s “proper”. He secretly leaves things for Emily in her mailbox.

Clint is a Prepper and has boxes of food in a spare room like wall to wall.

Marnie loves renascence fairs and loves going to them. She knows a bunch of useful things like how to cook chicken on a open fire, and making her own soap due to this.

I can see Abby really into game of thrones to to the point Sam and Seb roll there eyes when she talks about it.

Abby was secretly a horse girl when she was little its her biggest shame Jas grows up to be one thanks to Marine and the ranch.

Seb was a fan of the warrior cats books and still has his childhood copy’s under his bed and feeds this stray feral cat that hangs around the mines Graystripe.

Sebastian almost fell down the mine playing Pokemon Go.

I already mentioned this in another post but Harvey is a NPR and PBS nerd.

Shane was a former art/film major and he and Maru bond over Hayao Miyazaki films. They originally start watching them for Jas but she thinks the English dubs are annoying.

Haley loves loli culture from Japan and Emily made her a few dresses but shes to embarrassed to wear them afraid people in town will think shes weird.

Penny was that one girl always reading a book in school behind her textbook because she read ahead. She also almost got suspended for reading and walking in the halls at the same time. She returns library books in better condition that she checked them out and spends recess alphabetizing books because its calming.

Maru got Penny into Animal crossing and lets her borrow her DS. Penny thinks is a wonderful escape from her like and loves it when the villagers talk to her and say they miss her. The only person in town she hates is Resetrti. The first time he yelled at her she cried.

Maru is really into Arduinos. Sebastian taught her the basic of the computer programming but the building was all hers. Everything in her room is automatic and she is always trying out new prototypes to help her dads research. Her robots are also powered by them.

Alex keeps a dairy. He originally started after his mother died but continues because he finds it as a good outlet for his negativity . Its the only thing that is neat and organized about his life.

Sam loves Rap music unironically. He won’t listen to it when Vincent is around though.

Jodi took away all of Vincent fidget spinners after he accidentally gave himself a black eye because he wasn’t holding to one tightly and it flew into his face.

Leah likes to build dollhouses and loves miniatures. Kel Always made fun of her and she’s self conscious about her hobby. She didn’t bring any to the valley because she didn’t have any space but sometimes she will carve little furniture out of driftwood.

Leah has a jeep, she loves her jeep, She has a name for it.

Mayor Lewis loves mystery and crime books and has a entire wall devoted to them. His favorite things since he can’t garden in winter is sitting in front of the fire reading.

Elliott loves musicals and was a theater kid in high school. He knows all the words to Hamilton.

If anybody is a Whovian It would be Emily.

If anybody is a Furry it would be Sam. (Sebastian may or may not be a brony)

When our story starts? In the moment Alison finds her mother documents about Jason being Peter Hastings Son. Alison blackmailed Peter and I guess more parents in Rosewood. Byron Montgomery was another one, what we can see in her flashbacks. She was able to get some money out of this and she anonymously asked Ian to make videos in Rosewood. Ian was greedy and he used Garretts and Jasons help. She wanted more secrets from this town, and she knew these secrets are there, you just need to look for them. She started her games with the girls as they were her friends. If she could lie to them it will be even easier with others. Remember first halloween? Or flashback of the girls dressing up and Alison starting freaking out about seeing somebody behind the window? This perv, Toby, she says. There was no one behind the window that night, but she wanted girls scared. And she wanted them to do whatever she tells them. And then we’ve got Jenna thing. It was obvious that Alison saw Jenna and she did this on purpose. Then she yelled at Toby, Spencer saw them. She was like ‘if you’ll ever tell anyone’ – she blackmailed him with info she got from Ians videos. Alison was pushing Aria and Spencer to confess. Spencer about kissing Ian, and Aria about her father affair. Still she was the one who was seeing Ian behind everyone backs. Somewhere between all of it she was visiting creepy sculpure guy who kept ‘her face’ and he said she wanted it for her friends. But the girls never saw them. Remember that she was friends with Cece and noel too. And Noel was the one who asked ‘happy now?’ when some girl broke up with him on a party. She said that ‘we broke them up’, and that she did it for Aria. Watching more flashbacks we can see weird thing. Alison being their friend and sharing secrets but putting them down every time they were asking to omany questions or starting standing up for themselves. She even told Spencer that these girls are her puppets. In this conversation we can notice that girls tried to, maybe not get rid of Alison, but break free from her.

All the flashbacks are showing us that Alison was planning something.

Twin theory with courtney is the most possible here. Like why Mrs Dilaurentis was killed just before Ali came back? Maybe, I don’t know, she was the only one who could recognize one from another? And with Mary Drake plot Alison or Courtney just used Mary to get rid of their mother, who kept them apart.

Remember when Alison came to Spencer house while Em was there and she asked if she could stay there for the night? The same moment she said to spencer that her family has the worst apples. There’s this moment when she was looking on her reflection in a window and she get emotional, ok one tear is being emotional for Alison. Maybe she wanted to get out of a house because twin was there, they switched. One of the twins was in love with Em, the other was into boys only. Thats why she was so bipolar almost with Em. On second she was kissing her and telling her she loves her, the other she was laughing at her.

She wanted Jason being cut off from the money. She was planning to call her grandma. In most flashback we can see her relationship with Jason was, well, not really loving. Remember when she was asking grandma marin some questions? She said she is writing a story, ‘something like that’.

Oh and all this things with Vivian Darkbloom or Holly Varjak? As she said herself- pretending of being someone else.

Alison showing u pat Spencers while she was sleeping and dealing with ‘Jason is my brother’ thing. Alison uses word ‘GAME’ for the first time telling Spencer she missed her and her fearless look when she need to know the answer, had to win the game. She said this is seriously messed up things.

Mona saw Ali dressed up as Vivian Darkbloom. This is the point where my old Theory makes sense.

Why A took mona to dollhouse instead of Ali? Alison was there, in rosewood. Alison was playing the dolls but how she could play while being inside with them? If Cece wanted to have her dolls why bother with mona dressing up as Alison? She could grab real Alison, right?

REmember Mona in Radley being creepy silent and then she saw Alison in red coat behind hanna. Ali smiled to her, almost like saying – good job mona.

About red coat. Marlene tweeted long time ago, that the red coat is someone who can run in 5inch heels.

And Remember what mona said? About unlocked doors? And then Alison is at arias house and as i remember at spencer stoo. At arias: she said she can see A everywhere not even mention about this creepy question to Aria: you know why I picked you, right?

And Em and her therapy session with dr sulivan, when she saw herself hitting Alison with a shovel. Did she really hurt one of the twins then? With the other watching? Then Em came back to the barn and Ali went to her house where she was attacked by Cece. (If we’re going this direction with Ali behind all of this and her twin then Cece story about being Charles must be true, there would be just too much-or Mrs D is dead because she could tell the truth, that Cece is Cece, her niece, not Charles. I guess we will find out soon ).

And we have got this weird conversation with Spencer about her dairies. Of course she was planning something.

And when Veronica saw Ali in her kitchen with bloody lip. I bet that was the more gentle twin, the one who was in love with Emily. She and Ali argued and Ali hit her. But it was still part of the act.

And Spencer and Alison dance in Radley. 6th grade was the best? Was that the moment when they started switching? Spencer saw there twin who was living in Radley.

Ok, and how about the lodge and the fire? If Mona was A and she was the one who was after Alison why did Ali or a twin pulled her out? Because she was working for her.

And after that night when Grunwald helped her she called mona to run away and start the game.

Grunwald said that one of the girls has been touched by the one Alison fears the most. And that he is looking for her, and that he is here (back in ravenswood). It was all about Ezra back then. Why? Well, maybe because Ezra was doing his research and soon enough he could find out the truth. Oh, and what Alison was wearing when girls found her? Yup, red coat with a hoodie. How many Times we heard that red coat is in chargé? Oh, and if Ezra knows Wren, and Wren will be in the finale, my bet is on that he was the one who one of the twins was afraid of being pregnant with. They were looking for her and then found each other. Ezra was close with Aria and Wren was close with Spencer, then he tried with Hanna, and Ezra was helping Emily.

Guess we’ll know what was the story behind all of this, but for me, if it is a full circle- that is going back to Alison.
