1. How many works do you have on AO3?

My stats tell me that I've written 50, but 5 are multi-chapter collections, so... a lot. Yeah.

2. What’s your total AO3 word count?

733,820. If you asked me three years ago if I could ever write that much I would've laughed in your face. Isn't growth amazing?

3. What fandoms do you write for?

Harry Potter (though I do read some Good Omens, Carry on Simon and Bagginshield stuff)

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

UGH. I don't want to be honest here, since 2 of the five are Dramione fics I've now listed as ANON because of harassment reasons. I'll give you the NEXT five instead ;) 1. 93 Diagon Alley (Harry x George) They were roommates 2. HP Cocktober 2022 Collection (Multiple) Prompt fest 3. Solace (Harry x George) Unhealthy coping mechanisms (sex) 4. When Malfoy Met Granger... (Draco x Hermione) WHMS remake 5. Mistletoe, or Die F***ing (Harry x Fred x George) Self-explan.

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

Yes. I try to, because the BEST part of sharing is connecting with people who enjoy what I've done. Community, ya know?

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Mastermind (Draco x Hermione, Draco x Harry, Draco x Ron, Ron x Harry) The worst UHEA I've ever inflicted on y'all is this Dronarry fest 2023 story. Dark stalker Draco goes off the rails in the end. It's a masterpiece, I'm so proud of it.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

From Sunset to Star Rise (Harry x Ron) Cozy fall vibes, falling in love, little to no angst (Ron has a tiny bit of anxiety, that's all)

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Yes. Mainly the bigger ship ones (Dramione, looking at you) If you're wondering WHY I write rare pairs a lot, it's because rare pair fandom is a safe space with AWESOME people. We may be few in number, but WE GO HARD and LOVE HARDER.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

ALL KINDS (though I'm not great a fluffy smut). Check out my HP Kinktober Collection 2023 posting daily RIGHT NOW. It's very kinky and dark.

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

The closest I've come to crossover is more like "inspired by a vibe." I wrote a Community (TV Series) inspired paintball fic here: All's Fair in Love & War & Paintball (multiple ships)

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

No, BUT I've had people post me on Goodreads. Read my thoughts on why this is bad fandom etiquette HERE

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

I've had many requests, but no one has followed through yet.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

No! But I'm interested in this concept, especially if the co-author is someone I vibe with.

14. What’s your all time favourite ship?

STAWP. It's too hard a question! Lately, I'm obsessed with Dronarry, and any combination of those three. I also think I'm more in love with stories than ships. If it's an amazing story I end it with "OMG this is the BEST EVER" and I say it about a lot of ships.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

I'm writing a multichap Drarry fic where Draco is a wandmaker, and it's falling in love fluff. I'm terrified to write them because I feel like I'll get torn to shreds because the Drarry fandom is too amazing for the likes of little old me. I'll just read Drarry and call it good, and MAYBE I'll get the courage to finish someday.

16. What are your writing strengths?

Ideas. I'm chockful of ideas. Also, I read a ton, so I think the more you read, the better you write.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Fluff. I HATE writing fluff. Why is it so hard?

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I don't typically do it because I'm monolingual and don't want to fuck it up. I don't mind when others do it

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Harry Potter!

20. Favourite fic you’ve written?

How to Care for Your Monster Book: A Guide by Rubeus Hagrid  (Hagrid x Monster Book of Monsters) Y'aaaaaallll... I have no regrets about this fic. It's the only fic I've ever written that is perfect, I'll never top it, it's just so funny and weird (like me).

32, many of those being shorts I originally posted here

2. What’s your total AO3 word count?

218,746

3. What fandoms do you write for?

Harry Potter, though I am contemplating expanding outward to include some of the related games, as well as works like A Discovery of Witches.

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

I do! I try to respond to all my comments, whether that's on AO3, or here on Tumblr. I always appreciate it when people take the time to leave a message, and I want to thank them for taking that extra effort. It's also wonderful when you can start up a conversation over a delightful little detail you wouldn't have had otherwise.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

I don't do much angst. I try to almost always have a happy ending, but perhaps that is something that might change as I practice different techniques.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

All of them? I can think of at least a few that end with weddings.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Not yet, but I'm sure it will happen some day.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Yes, and mostly F/M, though occasionally I'll branch into M/M or multi.

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

Not yet, but I'm open to one should I find inspiration!

Not yet, thank goodness

Nope

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Again, not yet, but I'd be flattered if anyone asked me to. I'm a bit shy so I'd never dream of reaching out to ask someone else unless it was part of some fest or something.

14. What’s your all time favourite ship?

I'm a sucker for Dreomione, but I'm also 100% into any Antomione that @hwaetwegardena writes

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

Hmmm, do my shorts count? Many of them have the potential to grow into something more, but I cut them off since they're usually daily prompts.

16. What are your writing strengths?

This I don't actually know. My first instinct is to point out something as boring as my spelling, punctuation, and grammar, but that isn't very interesting, is it?

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

I actually see my strength as fuel for my weakness, because SPaG often make it difficult for me to just throw all my thoughts out there. I'll keep stopping to fix little things trying to make them perfect.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I'm okay with it, but if you can get someone knowledgeable to check your work, that's great.

20. Favourite fic you’ve written?

I actually had a lot of fun writing my Panville, Beyond the Garden Gate, for the HP Soulmates Fest this year! It's fairy tale-esque, but with a willful damsel who is most definitely not in distress.

I got my first troll comment today and I am 100% sure it was because I posted about No Post November across my social media. There’s no way it was just a coincidence. Also it was on the most recent chapter so you can’t tell me someone read over 100k+ words just to comment it’s garbage. 

Even more! it was on a dramione fic, not even one of my two jegulus fics, which just goes to show you that trolls, bullying, and hateful comments aren’t targeted at the actual writing, but made to promote hate and hurt.  even more, it was on ff.net where you can’t report spam. It also shows they’re everywhere in fandom and that it’s ridiculous anyone thinks they can act in such a way. 

i deleted the comment and will move on after this, but I just wanted to make it clear I support my fellow writers and will continue. 

UPDATE: I’ll still be updating my other fics and fests as none of them are jegulus.

Signal Boost & HP Fest Schedule: June 24 - July 17

A signal boost for two HP communities.

WeasleyJumpers is a Weasley-centric community for the core Weasley family, anyone related to them by blood, and next gen kids. The comm is also on Dreamwidth and Livejournal. They run a different fest every year: a comment fest in 2020, a prompt-and-claim fest in 2022, etc.

They are currently asking for people's ideas on what to do for this year's fest. You can find more information on Tumblr and DW.

Harry Potter Fanwork Recs is a new HP rec community that started up on Dreamwidth. While you'd need to become a member of the comm (along with having a DW account) to make a post, you don't need a DW account to reply to posts. They already have some fantastic recs posted to the comm.

Live like common people Dramione/Draco pretending to be a muggle (88,794 words)

How did we get here? The sequel to the above, aka Draco wishing he could still just pretend he was a muggle. (153,536 words)

Dragons Only The Draco/Charlie drabble (289 words)

A Song of Ice and Fire and Awkward Ex Boyfriends The other Dramione, this time with dragons. 🐉(20,272 words)

Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

Yes! Unless you're an absolute arsehole, and even then, I would rather reply (but only if I can come up with an appropriate retort). Why? Because I love the interaction. Getting a comment, no matter how small, will always make my day. So, it feels right to at least say thanks. Also, I met one of my now good friends through us chatting in our fics' comments. So who knows what might come of it.

What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Hmm, probably One Last Cup.

What is the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

I've not written the ending yet, but it's going to be How Did We Get Here? If only because I have become waaayyy too attached to all of the characters to give them anything but.

Do you get hate on fics?

It's not quite hate, and I know it could be worse, but How Did we get here? garners some pretty strong reactions. They're a downer.

Do you write smut? If so what kind?

I've only published very mild smut, but I have written more explicit stuff since, and some of it is in the next chapter I'm publishing, and I'm scared.

Do you write crossovers?

No, I struggle enough with one fandom. Huge respect to the people who manage it

Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not that I'm aware of.

Have you ever had a fic translated?

Nah. They're not good enough for that.

Have you ever co-written a fic?

Yes! Three actually. Idle in Kangaroo Court W1, for the mixed up writer fest. We ran out of steam, so it's unfinished, but I keep promising myself I'm going to finish it one day. Then two more with some friends, one short one for the rare pairs fest, that will be revealed soonish. Then one long fic that 3 of us a writing, which is err... in progress.

What's your all time favourite ship?

Call me a basic bitch, but I will always be such a sucker for Dramione.

What's a WIP you want to finish but don't think you ever will?

I have a really unhealthy stubborn streak that won't let me leave things unfinished, so hopefully none. Though Idle in Kangaroo Court is most at risk, because its been so long (and I feel I have to reach out to my co-author to check they don't mind, and my social anxiety is one of the few things that trumps my stubbornness).

What are your writing strengths?

Dialogue. I keep thinking I should try writing something as a script.

What are your writing weaknesses?

Descriptions and flowery language. I have to work hard at imagining visuals, so a lot of the time I don't. And I'm too literal to do well with metaphors.

Thoughts in writing dialogue in another language?

I've never really had any before. I guess I don't mind it in small amounts, if the meaning can be inferred from context or reactions. It's annoying if you miss something by not understanding what it means.

First Fandom you wrote for?

Harry Potter

Favourite fic you've written?

Oh god, that's like asking me to chose between my children! Live Like Common People will always have a special place in my heart, as it was my first and the characters will forever live rent free in my head.

But also, I'm most proud of Tattletail, because I think it is technically my best piece of writing.

I have been absent from the fandom for the last 12-18 months. I've scrolled Facebook from time to time, commented here and there. But for the most part, I've been checked out.

I've been battling alot in my personal life, but won't delve into that. In fact, I almost didn't make this post as one of my many many concurrent inner monologues likes to stress about if this will be perceived as vague posting and attention seeking, when that's the furthest from the truth.

I want to return to fandom. But most of all I want to return to writing. I miss having the energy and emotional capacity to string words together. So this is both an apology to those so patiently following my WIP, as well as an accountability post of sorts.

I cannot afford to throw myself headfirst into writing again, I need moderation or I will quickly burnout and extinguish the little spark that has only recently rekindled. But I do want to begin again.

My first step for re-engaging with fandom is going to be addressing and responding to each of the 102 amazing comments that have been left on my AO3 throughout my absence. These messages have brought me so much joy and motivation, but also guilt. To allow myself to write again I feel I need to work my way through these beautiful comments and show them the gratitude they deserve.

Then I plan on picking one of the two oneshots I started more than a year ago. They both have potential as an easy re-entry into writing, but I'm still undecided about which to choose first.

Option 1 is an 8th year hurt/comfort Panville oneshot that ends with loving, more emotional smut, though it has alot of trauma addressed throughout the fic and significantly more plot substance than option 2. I have 812 words written on this one so far and another 1722 of fairly fleshed out outline. This option is more progressed, though likely also more emotionally taxing for me to write currently.

Option 2 is my unfinished work for the 2023 Call Me Daddy fest. It is essentially gratuitous Billmione smut with a large serving of Ron bashing 😅 This would likely be less taxing to write, but in contrast to the Panville, only has 244 words down (which I honestly feel need work) and a basic outline of an additional 250 words.

I also desperately want to resume my Dramione WIP, Finding You In Solitude, but am at a heavy plot junction and don't feel I am capable of delivering that chapters content to the best of my ability with where I am currently. So I want to finish one or both of these oneshots before seriously working on my WIP again.

Anyway, if you've made it this far you're amazing and you should help me decide what to write first ☺️

Just weighing in to say I don’t personally find the DHr fandom toxic. I’ve enjoyed it for about 5 years now, through AO3, Tumblr, and most recently Discord, where I’ve enjoyed the chance to chat w some of my favorite authors directly. I’ve read and commented on thousands of fics at this point. Maybe Ive never experienced negativity because, as a reader, I’ve only ever left positive comments? There has definitely been fic I don’t like, and I stop reading/avoid those authors in the future. All of my social media interactions have been positive. I’ve never personally witnessed individual people getting called out for things, but the way Discord servers go, with big groups live chatting for hours, I can imagine what could happen. But in my experience, at least, “toxic” chat is not the norm—I’ve never even seen it. It’s mostly just a love-fest.

Same experience I have. I've been in this fandom over 10 years now, admin for dramioneasks for almost 10 as well. I haven't seen a lot of bad things. Yes there was that blog but again from what was revealed, that seemed more of a a personal attack against one group of people from another, rather than actual dramione fandom stuff. I have seen and participated in discussions about downloading fics, leaving reviews and hate against our fandom. But it never gets bad.

I genuinely didn't know that authors and their fans bully others for disagreeing with what was written. I haven't experienced that myself. I believe it though.

It is very possible to be away from that aspect of the fandom.

Every single fandom has it's toxic part. But like you said, I don't think it's a big part of the fandom.

Hey there!

Thanks for the ask, and for reading my stuff :)

Since I write as a hobby, I don't really have an organized process. I could be working on anywhere from 1 at a time to 4 at a time (literally me RN) and maybe even more than that when I'm really crazy. I have a LOT of ideas.

One thing I've learned with long fics is that I do not thrive well when I start posting a WIP that I haven't finished a full first draft of. When I wrote my Dramione pregnancy fic I posted it as I wrote and it really threw me off. When commenters started making speculations or saying "I hope it goes this way" or "How dare this character do this" etc, it affected my writing in a bad way. So, I always have longer WIPs on the back burner that I won't release until they're fully drafted. Right now, that's two Dramione WIPs, one Drarry WIP, and one Panville WIP that are longer, and I pull them out and tinker every now and then. My goal is to finish at least two of these by the end of next year.

Shorter fics I can bang out pretty quickly, usually because I'm craving a trope or have an insane idea in the shower that I just have to get out of me, and I write, edit and post them in quick succession.

And then there are the fests. I'm currently writing for 3 upcoming fests, all Anonymous, so stay tuned this spring for more to come!

I’ve been working on the format of my stories for YEARS! And especially  this comment from @beautyberrywrites makes my heart soar! This tells me I’ve succeeded (at least at some level) to do what I was aiming for: To tell a little and still so much, to make the reader FEEL the story, and to create an unique format I can be known for as a writer.
