What's your most interesting or unhinged WIP fact? Tell us about it! How did you come up with this?

Hey! Thanks for the ask! Tumblr is being weird with notifications so I only just saw this, so sorry for the delay!

One of the most interesting facts about The Princess, The Pauper and the Pirate is about one of the main characters, Kai.

He was originally part of a trio of ghost hunting ocs who i eventually repurposed into the three protagonists of PPP, and his original name was Elias.

I originally changed them into fantasy characters about six months before I had my gender crisis, and when I realised that I was a boy, I realised that the name that fit me most was the same as my favourite oc - Elias

Yeah, I named myself after my favourite badass tiefling pirate and it honestly inspired me to keep writing since I loved him so much

I was wondering what color u associate with Tanaka (he's so underappreciated imo) and why :)

7. What color do you associate with (character)? (Character: Tanaka)

It took me a bit to think about my answer for this because I do know there are people that are capable of associating people, objects in the likes with color (and if you're one of those people then you are so cool >:00!), however if I were to associate Tanaka with a color it would be the color orange.

First, as a lighthearted answer, the orange Karasuno uniform actually suites him a lot more than I realized like:

Genuinely??? He looks amazing in this color and I've longed appreciate how well the alternate uniform suites him <33

Second, the color orange actually represents optimism and energy, which if that doesn't suite him more than anything. Tanaka is generally the one man army when it comes to noise and chaos along with Nishinoya and Hinata. Not only is he energetic, but he is genuinely such a supportive senior most especially towards the first years which is often severely overlooked by the community. Literally one of my favorite moments of him was his words to Hinata during their first match against Aoba Johsai, telling Hinata it's okay to mess up because everyone on their side of the court is an ally/ teammate. With someone as supportive and rowdy as him and with what the color orange represents, another perfect fit if you ask me.

Lastly, generally and admittedly the color orange is not particularly a very "used" color if that makes sense. I'm not simply implying that it isnt utilized in anime I mean Hinata is standing right there xD, though what I am implying is well, look at your surroundings, how common is it for you to see the color orange in objects, clothing, etc? Simply, the orange is a color but it's one that's often nerver utilized, it's present and exists but granted it's not a color that's noticed too much by the general public. However, in those few instances where we do see the color orange, it stands out doesn't it? It stands out because we don't often see the color orange so when we do see it, often it draws us in.

Most importantly, the color orange stands out because that color in and of itself is unique.

As you said anon, Tanka is often underappreciated, mainly by the community and often "overlooked" by the characters in the series. But that's the thing, Furudate-sensei wrote Tanaka with that general intention. Though Tanaka is a constant support for Karasuno and loves hyping them up, he mostly does not gain any genuine moments to shine and if he does it's mostly for the comedic relief. He's purposely written to be outshined by the rest of his teammates with the Inarizaki match being proof of it. However, much like the color orange, in those few instances where Furudate-sensei had Tanaka shine, he stood out. It left an impresison not only on the readers but also the characters, even himself.

Though he may never truly reach the talent and skill of others, it's in those instances where he gets such moments, that he is able to prove his worth in a banquet of monsters.

That Tanaka himself is unique just as much.

So, this was a little harder than I thought it would be. Some songs remind me of Yami Bakura simply because I heard them for the first time when I was looking at Yami Bakura art or something like that (so purely accidental association).

But I guess it's fine anyways, cause the meme says "reminds me of my muse", it doesn't say why, lmao

Also, I've never linked anything before on Tumblr, so I hope this works

1.) Froe Char - Meanings (and several of their other songs, tbh) - This one is partly accidental association, but I kinda feel like this one vibes beyond that too. This is probably the strongest one here of the three.

Dark, hypnotic, subtlety oppressive, persistent droning that slowly gets more intense is what I get from the main sections of the song. (Looking mostly at 2:19, if you're short on time. But the build up is nice. Also, I just realized I don't know the lyrics, so I'm basing this on sound only.) Hazy, slightly weird, dream-like. For some reason, I get really specific blade imagery in my head from this one. Anyways, lol

2.) I'm gonna go with Pain by Boy Harsher for the next one

This is funny, though, lol. I am looking up the lyrics for the first time and I was always hearing something different.

Like, I always heard "pain lurks around, lurks around, lurks around me"

And in this section:

3.) Tough choice, but I'm gonna go with Musn't Hurry by Fever Ray and this one I think is VERY accidental association, but I still think there's vibe there too?

(I kinda associate/mentally link this one with Ryo and Yami Marik too. I was hardcore zoning out, binging on Yami Marik, Yami Bakura and Ryo art when I first heard this and just played it on a loop, cause I loved it so much, so now they are closely linked in my mind.)

How they had gotten onto this topic of conversation was basically Zoro’s own fault. He’d opened up with a question—no, a comment and to himself, perhaps?—but his company, Eli, had decided to give him opinion on that and it had simply spiraled from there.

So, deep in conversation as they were—which was really just Eli sitting back for the moment, listening to Zoro’s musings before offering up yet another reply—his comment took the hybrid by surprise given the fact that they were rather close to each other.

His face immediately turned towards the other man, red as a Roseli berry as his lone eye peered down at Eli in shock—for what reason, Zoro wasn’t quite sure—and barked back:

“Wh—what the hell kind of response is that?”

WHAT THE HELL—???

SERIOUSLY.

No—he needed—… He needed to calm down!

If he could have, he would have taken flight into the nearest tree for “safety”—which was really more of an excuse to take a moment to himself to settle his feelings—but they weren’t exactly in a forested area, unfortunately.

The forest (far behind them) had opened into more of a field upon fields of long grass—not that it wasn’t nice. It just didn’t provide an immediate means of safety for the hybrid.

Buddie 610 meta

Holy shit, this ep.

Okay, what shall we start with? Maybe with what 911 itself starts, lots of foreshadowing. At the beach call, we have Eddie looking at Buck and replying to him (about the lightning), “I really hope it doesn’t strike twice, though.” Which, of course we know it will. But the foreshadowing continues, as Buck talks to Omar about unexpected things in life coming out of nowhere. That suggests we need to pay extra attention to other elements in this ep that might act as foreshadowing for later events along 6b. ~~

That kind of connects to me with Buck being closely tied to Ely, the pregnant lady (he saves the day there twice, first by realizing the oil is dripping and if they use the saw, it might prove fatal, then by helping Bobby with the baby). First off, it made me chuckle when we learned that, despite being driven to the hospital by a man, he’s actually not her partner. 911 made sure we knew Ely has a wife, and that she has another kid with her. Is it a coincidence when Buck, who practically has a husband and a kid with him already, is the main firefighter taking care of her? Maybe, but it still amused me. What really made me take note is when he told her not to push, trying to stall her childbirth, and she replied that it doesn’t depend on her. That made me wonder if perhaps this is also in a way foreshadowing what we might end up seeing with the sperm donation storyline. I’m not sure, I can’t be, but I was not surprised to see that storyline brought up later in the ep. ~~

In general, this ep’s title, “In a Flash,” might seem to refer to the lightning storm the team experiences, but the real tempest is the havoc our families can wreak on us, tied to the unexpected nature change can sometimes take on. Chim’s dad suddenly shows up, raining on his parade. Albert suddenly thinks Chim should give their dad a chance to be Jee Yun’s grandpa, but decides against giving his brother a warning. The Buckley parents are suddenly making an effort, yet leaving everyone suspicious and unnerved. Albert suddenly leaks Buck’s sperm donation to everyone and unleashes hell between the in-laws. Denny’s changes, probably influenced by getting in touch with his dad, come as a surprise to Hen. And of course, at the climax of the ep, Bobby as the unofficial adoptive father of Buck might lose his son in a flash. The whole ep is filled with these parallels of abrupt familial disquiet, especially in relation to dads, on all 118 fronts. And as Buck deals with maybe the biggest of these questions, because he doesn’t even yet know what he wants for himself and how does the life he helped create (but only as a donor) fit into that, it’s no wonder his life ends up hanging literally in the balance. ~~

One of the most painful things in this ep for me was seeing how much Buck’s parents are willing to accept him as a donor, because not for a second do they think he can be a father. That would be the natural conclusion from him looking at a sonogram on his phone, but his parents find it easier to believe their daughter is pregnant again than to think Buck would be a dad (ironic, because he already is one. Just not to the baby in the sonogram). It reminded me of how Eddie’s parents also didn’t believe in his ability to be a dad, and actively petitioned to have Chris taken from him to be raised by them in 315. It amazes me every time anew just how much Buddie are compatible, because their stories parallel so much that they can understand each other in ways most other people can’t. ~~

And it gets to me that this whole episode also insists on reminding us how good Buck is with kids, first with the ones on the beach, calming them down and answering their questions to help them make sense of the whole ordeal. Then with Ely’s baby, a callback to how we saw him with the pipe baby in 101. It connects to him looking at the baby sonogram, all excited, once again acting so much like an expectant dad would (parallel to him and the firefighter onesie in 609), when we know he’s not actually going to be that baby’s father. It very much does feel like 911 is signaling to us Buck has some realizations coming his way in this context. ~~

Speaking of the kids on the beach, Buck telling the boy he wants to fix everything, then adding that Buck gets it, had me screaming into my fists, because hey, remember who said that to Buck? That’s right, his Eddie, back in 504. A reminder of how much Eddie sees Buck, accepts him and allows him to be himself, enabling Buck in turn to reflect that back to that kid. Of course, in the context of the sperm donation, Buck’s tendency made him want to help “fix” things for Connor and Kameron, and we might learn in 6b that Buck comes to realize he sometimes lets this tendency take him to places that aren’t actually good for him, without fully considering the consequences, and then hopefully, he’ll get to find a way to balance this, to be himself, but not derailed from his life goals by this part of himself. ~~

At the same time that the ep shows us how good Buck is with kids, it also serves to remind us of the one kid that we’ve seen him co-parent all along, the one who has always demonstrated what a good, loving dad Buck is, Christopher. Yes, when we see Buck working on his cooking with Bobby, it’s a part of the many parallels revolving around dads in this ep, so Buck and Bobby’s r/s is the immediate focus, but at the same time, we know who Buck is learning this FOR. Lazania kitchen scene from 601, anyone? Oh, but the best part? It’s when Buck tells Bobby, “Something’s missing.” He can’t quite put the finger on what, but he knows something in his domesticity isn’t fully there. I wonder what, Buck... And this is again in an ep full of foreshadowing! ~~

It may seem like a minor thing, but remember how in my past meta, I was more or less losing it over the many times Buck and Eddie did rope rescues together as their own team within the 118 team, even having their assigned roles where Eddie connects Buck to the line and then becomes an anchor himself to keep Buck safe, to the point where I wrote a smut fic involving this very meaningful act? Yeah, so imagine me seeing that the most intense Buddie call we’ve had since the end of 413 starts with them doing this subtextually intimate thing, Eddie hooking Buck up to the rope, becoming his literal life line, and even teasingly calling him “cowboy” while at it. No, I was not breathing for a full minute at least. ~~

But since I brought up the shooting in 413, can we talk about the insanity of the parallels? Take the meaningful staring once disaster strikes. Back in s4, it was mutual, right before Eddie collapsed. In 610, Buck is unconscious, so you wouldn’t think they could stare at each other at this moment, right? Plus, back in 413, it was just the two of them present at the scene out of the 118, the other members of the team weren’t there. The lightning strike seems a lot less intimate in comparison... But in this ep, the camera plays a role in recreating that same dynamic, singling out the connection between Buddie. Because when Buck is hit by lightning, we get shots of every 118 member looking up and being terrified of what just happened to their friend.

The only exception in terms of this shot? Eddie. He’s the only one that isn’t being filmed from the side as he looks up, he’s filmed from above as he looks straight into the camera. Essentially, the shot recreates Buck’s POV for Eddie, and for him alone. It shows us what Buck would see and how he would stare down, back at Eddie, if he only could. The fact that the camera has to do this instead of Buck himself further emphasizes the horror of Buck being unconscious, but the choice to do this only with Eddie highlights their connection and makes it clear that Buddie’s bond IS different to what the other team members have with Buck, no matter how close the others are to him or how much they love him. What’s insane is that DESPITE having all of the 118 there, there is still a bubble within this whole situation that is Buddie and Buddie’s alone, even as Buck himself is unconscious. It’s no wonder Eddie jumps up that electrocuted ladder without even thinking about it, it’s no wonder no one even tries to stop him or warn him of the danger in that. That is a man on a mission to save the other half of him, and the show tells us that in more than one way.

That’s gonna continue through Eddie’s attempts (and eventual success) in getting Buck away from immediate danger, as well as when the team tries but then fails to revive Buck, because Eddie will be the one to push past Bobby to see Buck, and Eddie will be the one Bobby has to keep in line by assigning him driving duty, maybe the most important thing anyone can do for Buck once all the medical assistance they can give him in the field is of no further use. ~~

One more thing regarding the comparison with the shooting arc in s4, as well as talking about camera shots, is that we get to see the difference between a platonic friend resuscitating his teammate and a man desperately trying to keep the love of his life alive. If you look at Chim doing compressions on Buck, he’s giving it his all, because he DOES love Buck, Chim’s doing his best for his friend and brother in law. But the shot is not an intimate one, we don’t get close ups, we don’t get to focus on the eyes and see the frantic look of a man who knows he CAN’T fail, we don’t see the intimate touch of a hand laying a gauze on an exposed chest and trying to keep this treasured body together, we do get “come on, Buck,” but we don’t get personal speech, begging the other man to hold on and just “stay with me.” While back in 414, in the ambulance, we had ALL of those as Buck, almost on the verge of losing his sanity, fought for Eddie’s life. ~~

Lastly, I’ve made in the past a gifset of times when we’ve seen Buck screaming Eddie’s name in horror at the face of danger (including in 413), and I love that we can finally add to that Eddie doing the same thing for Buck. But I think it’s particularly meaningful that it happened not as a matter of when Buck would be in danger, but rather it was a question of just how significant Buck had to become to Eddie for this former, highly decorated soldier to go from the stoic man he was in 218 to what we see in 610 (as seen in my latest weekly gifset). Because Eddie WAS incredibly worried back in the s2 finale. He was gritting his teeth, you can see the tension on his face, and the second it was safe, he sprang to Buck’s side. Eddie also held on to him while everyone else was lifting the truck (even though Chim, as a medic, would have been a more natural choice to hold on to Buck, while Eddie the firefighter helps lift engine 118). Buck has become such an integral part of his life, of his family, of who Eddie is as a person and how he deals with life, way more than even Shannon managed to be. A VIEW COUNT SECTION IN ACTIVITY

The graph will show Total Views (shown as a graph that ALWAYS increases) or Daily Views.

Using this, we can see how many people are actually viewing our blogs, so that we know if people are seeing what you post or not. Might be a big motivator for people who are just starting out, because the thought of people seeing their posts may make people want to post more.

We are very glad to answer this one. So at one point, we did actually experiment with showing a view count. It was technically challenging to scale, only we forget why we lost the momentum here, and it became lost on our hefty to-do list.

This is a complex but interesting question. And it begs the question of whether a view count would increase peoples’ anxiety about how their blog is “performing,” at least in their eyes, which is not something that aligns with how we think Tumblr is valued by people. Particularly when we want to be doing everything we can to help users build connections and build feedback loops.

But it is not easy. On the one hand, such a feature could be a really useful signal to creators, but when views become negatively correlated, this previously useful signal becomes a depressing one. And counter to what we want to achieve with Tumblr.

This one will need your thoughts and feedback. While we cannot say it is happening any time soon, this may become something that makes sense to pursue sometime in the future.

Being an actor was fun, you got to spend hours playing someone new and traveling the world to film or do press. Acting brought you a lot of success throughout your career thus far and it was exciting to see where you would go. The main downfall though was having to spend multiple months on location filming which meant being away from your loved ones.

Sometimes filming continued through the holidays, meaning you might be missing spending Christmas with your girlfriend, Alexia. You and Alexia had met while you were filming a different project in Spain, you had bumped into each other literally at a club. The Barça girls were out celebrating another El Clásico win while you and some cast mates were out celebrating the end of filming. Neither of you were paying attention to where you were walking and ran into each other, spilling the contents of your drink on the midfielder. 

You had apologized multiple times with Alexia assuring you each time that it was okay. You had offered her your jacket to cover up the liquid stain showing on her shirt, which she took after asking you to let her get you another drink. This was three years ago and since then the two of you have spent as much time together when your jobs allowed for it. Most of your time was spent in Barcelona since it was easier for you to travel but there were times when Alexia would join you on set for a few days if she could.

It was currently two days before Christmas and filming for your current film was taking longer than expected due to some set malfunctions. These delays kept you from flying to Spain from Australia as you originally planned which hurt both you and Alexia. With the season in full swing, it was hard for either of you to see one another and you were determined to spend some time together during the break Alexia had from club football.

You had been in contact with Alexia’s sister Alba after you told Alexia that you didn’t think you'd be able to leave set for a few days for the holidays. You hated seeing her upset and started forming a plan to surprise her the moment the call ended. You didn’t care if you got in trouble with the producers or director, what were they going to do? Fire you? You were the leading actor in the movie, they couldn’t do that.

It was difficult trying to get a flight on such short notice but after a long flight from Australia, you were waiting for your luggage in Barcelona. The only flight you could find was set to arrive in Spain on Christmas morning so you figured it would be the best Christmas surprise for Alexia. After claiming your bags, you quickly got a cab to take you to Alexia’s place where you knew she would be with her mother and sister.

Standing outside of Alexia’s door, you were eager to see her again, the last time you saw Alexia was after Spain won the World Cup in August. You pulled out your phone to text Alba that you were at the door, not wanting to knock and alert Alexia of your presence just yet.

Y/N:

Hola chica! ¡Estoy aquí! (i’m here!)

Alba:

Vale, ¡dame un minuto! (okay! Give me a minute!)

You stood patiently outside the door, waiting for the younger of the two sisters to answer the door, completely unaware of the conversations happening inside.

“¿A quién le envías mensajes, Alba? (who are you texting, Alba?)”  Eli questioned, her youngest daughter too preoccupied with her phone to be a part of the conversation.

“Nadie. Ya vuelvo. (nobody. I’ll be right back.)” Alba responded as she stood up from her place on the couch to make her way to the front door.

Alexia and Eli shared a look as the youngest of the trio left the room, confusion on both of their faces. Alexia picked up her phone, hoping you might have sent her a text but didn’t think too much of it when there was no notification on her phone since you were on the other side of the world, either working or sleeping.

Alba let you in, with whispered greetings and a tight hug as you crossed the threshold. You sat your bags by the door, they could be dealt with later. Alba motioned for you to wait a second before following her, wanting to make some kind of statement before you entered the room.

“¡Hay un regalo más para ti, Ale! (there’s one more gift for you, ale!)” Alba cheered when she rounded the corner.

Alexia looked up from her spot on the couch, raising an eyebrow in confusion at her sister. Her eyes fell on you when you entered the room, they widened in surprise when you locked eyes.

“Sorpresa mi amor (surprise my love),” you mumbled, still not believing you were actually in her home right then.

Alexia didn’t say anything as she got from the couch, moving in your direction and wrapping her arms around your waist. Your arms locked around her neck and you buried your face in her neck, inhaling her familiar scent. 

Alba joined her mother as they left the room to give the two of you some space. They could speak to you later after Alexia let you go.

“Te extrañé mucho, y/n (I missed you so much),” Alexia sighed, her arms tightened around you.

“Yo también te extrañé (I missed you too),” you cooed, pulling back slightly to look at her face.

The two of you stood there in silence for a second before you both leaned in. Your lips met in a heated kiss, the months of not seeing each other had been too long without touching each other. Alexia pulled away first when air became an issue though her arms didn’t leave your body.

“¿Pensé que no podías irte? (I thought you couldn’t leave)” the blonde asked, confused about how you were here.

“No me importaba lo que dijeran, volvería a casa sin importar nada. (I didn’t care what they said, I was coming home no matter what)” you sniffled, feeling overwhelmed with being in Alexia’s arms again.

Alexia pulled you into another tight hug, this one shorter than the first. When you both pulled away, Alexia took your hand in hers and led you to the kitchen to greet her mother and sister. Eli pulled you into a hug, one tighter than the one Alexia had given you. The older woman missed having you around, you brought out a different side to her daughter. 

You spent the rest of Christmas morning giving the family the gifts you had picked out for them that you thought you wouldn’t be able to give them. When nighttime rolled around, you were thrilled to be able to sleep in the same bed as Alexia, having missed being so domestic with the star midfielder. You cherished your short break, promising that the second you wrapped, you would be on a plane back home to your lover.

Emma wants to be with you all hours of the day, craves it. She wants to never be alone again. If you want the same, then it’s nothing short of a match made in heaven, right?

(Bonus) Ithaqua is not #1 only because he doesn’t like if you get desperate about him having to leave for matches. Like, first of all, he doesn’t get a say and there’s nothing he can do. Second of all, he enjoys terrorizing the little survivors. This is his Me-Time. Any other time he adores having you wrapped around his finger—and a little separation pouting is endearing, but any more than that and he gets frustrated.

Eli is incredibly patient. He loves your company and doesn’t mind a shadow most of the time. But as he’s somewhat of a figurehead and confidant in the manor, he will sometimes need private time with other inhabitants. It’s for their privacy, you see, surely you understand. Otherwise, he doesn’t mind you sticking by his side!

Andrew won’t ever say it, but you liking his company so much sooths a lot of his soul-aches and worries. He does like some occasional quiet time, but otherwise he likes that you would choose time with him over time alone.

Antonio loves his darling’s company…but he also knows it’s important to give his friends some quality time too. (And he has a good amount of friends, despite fate’s intentions.) It’s only fair, right? Surely you can wait a bit. He’ll find you again later to share a bottle of wine.

Ganji similarly likes a good amount of time with his partner…but he’s also quite used to being alone and gets irritable when he doesn’t get any decompression time alone. Make sure he gets like five hours to do his own thing, and he’ll be alright the rest of the time.

Melly doesn’t know what to do with you most of the time. It’s not that she dislikes having you around, but rather she feels awkward. Is she…supposed to be doing something with you? Is she expected to entertain you? She’ll deal with this better after some reassurance and comfort, but otherwise struggles with subconscious expectations about her duties as a partner.

Emily can appreciate clinginess from a medical standpoint. You’ve got some abandonment wounds, yes? You’re afraid of being left behind. She will do her best to accommodate you, but unfortunately she has to work the infirmary most nights and you can’t just loiter in there. Respect her work hours and she’ll make it work the rest of the time.

Orpheus is busy with his own things a good chunk of the time, but as long as it’s not anything private he doesn’t mind sharing space with you. You can even sit on his lap while he’s busy writing…just don’t distract him with inane chatter. And when he says he’s busy, respect that.

Norton avoids you for your own good, alright? Don’t make this difficult. He’s not answering any questions about the hows and the whys, and begging will get you nowhere. When he’s able to have you around, rest assured he’ll be around. He wants to be around you. But whenever he leaves you be, it’s because you’re safer that way.

Luchino also has work. Even in the manor, he’s not giving up on his research, his life’s work. It’s better if you let him come to you. Make plans with him; he’ll never be late, never forget you. But he has work and even as his s/o you can’t be allowed to distract him.

Another stranger. This one seems much more honest than the last one but somehow you haven’t decided yet if you appreciate that or not. They say there is a problem their employer has sent them to hopefully solve and after some extensive research you seemed to be the least untrustworthy person of your craft to potentially help. You can’t quite tell from their stoic face if that sentence was supposed to be a compliment, a joke or very subtle sarcasm. But the pay they offer is nothing to turn your nose up at and you’ve worked for way shadier people.

The Crazy Mushroom: Mezilkree (f/m/nb)

Mezilkree has been a frequent visitor of yours for quite some years. Mostly they just hang out at your shop and try to scare potential customers. When you try to make them leave they declare they are a customer, throw a bottle cap on your counter and shove a handful of candy from the jar you keep for kids in their mouth. Sometimes they even do buy something if they’re on an errand for their family, but as their community grows more and more resentful of non-mushrooms this occasion becomes rarer and rarer. In the many years of botherment, you have found Mezilkree to be a mischievous but sweet troublemaker. Some of the time, at least.

An Enemy. A Fiend. Your Immortal Rival. Most of the time you and Levan stay clear of each other, as is agreed upon in your Contract of Geniality. But now they have decided to steal a very valuable artifact you have spent months on locating. At least you’re pretty sure it was them, who else would be skilled enough to enter your home. Even though you don’t particularly get along, Levan is a witch you have known for the longest of time. But because of their spiteful nature and (admittedly somewhat deserved) arrogance you have long decided to avoid them, lest you burn down the whole town in a fit of anger. They really know how to push your buttons.
