Maybe it's a 'study finds water is wet' type of thought, but
considering it's an action movie whose overall plot is "immortal warriors Fuck Shit Up™️", I think it's significant that in The Old Guard the thing that makes Copley pull red strings through his Murder Conspiracy Board and say "[Merrick] doesn't care what [Andy]'s done with [her immortality]" is the people they save, not the ones they kill
Most of the Conspiracy Board is him circling random newspaper headlines and faces on old photographs to (more or less realistically) follow the immortals' treck through the world and big historical events. Which is, in-canon, not much different than putting portraits from different centuries next to a picture of Keanu Reeves and saying "they look the same, clearly Reeves is an immortal!"
But then there are the connections. A little girl holding Joe's hand in WW1 becoming the youngest (and first) woman to be awarded a Nobel Prize for Medicine (suck it, Kozak). Or the grandchild of a family that Andy saved from [something] helping people escape from the Khmer Rouge genocide in Cambodia.
They are warriors. They have fought and been in the midst of countless wars, major or minor, throughout history. They must have killed as many people as they saved... and yet.
It's not them taking out a random warlord or dictator or rabidly hateful politician that has tangible repercussions in history. It's the children and families they get out of war zones, save from accidents, protect from natural disasters. People to whom they give a second chance at life, and grow to change the world (or even just their own world), like a mysterious stranger once changed theirs just by holding out a hand or patching a wound.
I don't know I just think it's particularly neat

Light & Shadow. What part of yourself you cannot see?

(Disclaimer : This is a general reading please only take what resonate. For entertainment purposes only)
Pile 1🪲
Light: Buffalo, Son of Pentacle. “I haven't met all of me yet"
"It was never a question of biology of nature or nurture. I know now that we healed up through being loved and through loving others"
Light side that you don't see about yourself Pile 1, is that you are a slow and steady win the race kind of person. This trait is very admirable because whereas a lot of people would have get impatient and give up. You slow and steadily and patiently work toward what you want. Your trust in yourself and where you can go is unmatched. Your faith in your abilities, skills and the Divine is quite rare and extremely admirable.
You know deep within your heart that in order to grow a flower you must tend to it consistently, diligently and with love and care. We grow more beautiful where we are loved. You know that in order to be successful in your ventures (whether it's career, hobbies or relationships) it does need hard work, consistently and most importantly, faith in your own ability to make it work. And you have it, you have this faith in yourself that you might not realised.
You are also a very loyal person whether to people you considered your people or even to a particular place, or brand. You are a person who does not give up easily (especially in relationship). When someone need a reassurance or help solving a problem, they would definitely come to you Pile 1, because whether you know it or not a lot of people think of you first when they come across an impossible challenge. They would go "oh Pile 1 can definitely do it". This is not in a "I'm going to used Pile 1 to solve my problem for me" kind of way, but in a more, admirable for your skill, talent and your ability to overcome any impossible challenges. However, there is no obligation for you to help someone if you do not want to. But this is what your light side want to say to you that you have not been noticing.
"We are hard to kill, hard to defeat, our faith in the heaven and ourselves is unrivalled. We alway get what we want eventually and people trust us completely and they are right to because any challenges coming our way will be inevitably defeated. So trust in our ability to walk through mud and dark forest."
"I trust myself to go through hell because I trust myself to get out"
The word to describe your light side is Persistent. Which means it will never die. And that’s really scary to be honest. Persistently shining no matter what come at it.
Poems : Revaluation by @cant-find-my-name
There’s alway going to be a losing battle
It’s an inevitable encounter
But that doesn’t mean you should
Lose hope,
Failure doesn’t alway mean the end
As long as you’re breathing
You can still follow
The string of rope
That has alway been tied to you
And your fated destination…..
Song: The Rumbling by SiM
Shadow : Fire ant, 7 of swords. “This moment will just be another story someday"
Where there's light, there will alway be a shadow. One cannot exist without the other. Pile 1, your shadow side that you cannot see is that you tend to not be as discerning as you could have been about what you're getting into or committed to. You are a very committed person, hard to give up when you're decided to do something, but that also means, you can get stuck on a situation or promises that you can't fulfil. Or can fulfil but at your own expense and that can indicate a poor discernment on whether what you are committing to is worth it or not. Whether what you're committing to is a person, a job, or even a hobbies, a brand etc, bring you nothing but drama, headaches, negativity, gossips, overall not good energy. You might have to ask yourself, 'why do I feel like I need to be loyal to these kind of people, places, brands, etc?'. When all you get in return is anything but peace.
Your shadow self urges you to be very discern on who you share your secret or even your goals with because they might not have the best intention. Even if you think there's no harm in sharing them, or because you're very passionate and excited to share your ideas.Your shadow urges you to protect them for a while, unless, rumours will spreads and your name will be at the centre. Not in a good way. Your shadow have a tendency to overshare and spreads informations that you, yourself are still unsure about. You might think it's fine, no big deal but your words are quite powerful and people tend to listen to you and take your words seriously, so please be extra careful on what you are saying about other people and about yourself. Because weirdly, people tend to remember what you said to them or about them distinctly.
Poem: You wish by @cant-find-my-name
…….. You hated my wings
You aimed and try
To shoot it down
Too many times
But miss and then
It hit
And we both were surprised
To find a phoenix
Rising from ashes
Once again, the dead did not collect
However much
You Wish

Pile 2🌻
Light : Dragon, 4 of Pentacles. “And when tomorrow comes, you'll call it today. Time remains an illusory play."
Pile 2, What you did not see about your light side is that, you are quite a powerful person, specifically a powerful manifestor. I get a feeling that there's nothing you cannot manifest. As well as, you are extremely intuitive, even psychic. You can sense and see illusions, and things ordinary person would not be able to even comprehend. You have quite a skill and a good grasp of concept of realms and dimensions, and you are not even just powerful here in the 3D, but it seems you are quite active in many places/realms/realities/dimensions. Your light is strong, wide spreads. You see all, no lies or illusion can go passed you. It would be hard to fool or scam you Pile 2.
Your light side that you cannot see, yet, is that it can create something from nothing. Entrepreneurial vibes, build something up from the ground, from your own will power alone. And you have scarily good instinct Pile 2. Your success, in the materials world come from your own ideas and intuition. Never underestimate what you feel, even without proof, because almost, alway, you were right. It would be hard to play or even attack you Pile 2, not even just in the 3D, but also you are extremely aware in all realms/realities/dream realms, etc. One word to describe your light side is "Omnipotent",see all. Trust what you see or feels because that's your light speaking to you.
You also have extremely good self-control. It's hard to budge you from your goal, on what you decided to go for. Example, when you say you're not going to drink for a month, you won't. No amount of temptation or cajoling would break you down. Even when you attended a party full of alcohol. You still did not lose self control. This is one of the light side that you might not realised is within you Pile 2. Your light side is very protected of you, whether you know it or not, nothing can get pass you.
Poem : Hidden strength by @cant-find-my-name
My heart is brave but my mind is not
How can I make my intrusive thoughts
Stop.
Red flag, red light, demonise
Why do I think that everyone is a devil in disguise
Why can’t I believe in goodness
Kind heart, My angels, my spirit guides
I need more trust in me
I don’t want to be stuck
With my shadow for what seem like Eternity,
Kindness, kind heart, innocent,
That was all I am
Why can’t I see that I’m strong?
Strong enough to banish what doesn’t
Belong.
Song: Rainbow by Kacey Musgraves
Shadow side : Horse, 2 of Swords, “To tell the different between the absence of treatment opposed to the evidence of mistreatment"
"You don't notice your progress in life because you are alway raising the bar"
Pile 2, a shadow side that you did not see is that you tend to be extremely hard on yourself. Expect yourself to alway be doing something, anything. Achieving things, finishing one goal and what's next?. Alway planning the next steps ahead without taking the time to reflect and truly think on why you need to fulfil that particular goal so bad. This shadow trait love to watch you go way past your limit. Push yourself over the edge for something that doesn't fulfil you truly. Maybe reevaluate your priory, examine your list/tasks that you deemed important and see if self-care, relaxation is on that list. Because it is important for you to be doing nothing, to have fun doing absolutely nothing. It would be quite dangerous for you to be so concentrated on the material world, because it is a black hole where when one has fallen down, it's nearly impossible to come back up. Your shadow trait want you to questioned and reflect on, what do you consider to be 'true wealth'?.
Pile 2, sometimes you go too far, do almost anything to achieve your goals and watch out for that. When you found yourself compromising your integrity and personal values to get what you want. Then it's really time to reevaluate your priority.
Poem: Plateau Fever by @cant-find-my-name
Can you promise me something?
Let me be happy, give me my peace
As I learned my lesson
Nothing was taken
But nothing was given either
And I’m here flowing
Stuck in this Plateau Fever
Never dream of betterness
Thought it was impossible
A star too far to grab
Now my mindset is shifting
Now I believe in the better
I know goodness
They do last

Pile 3🪁
Light : Lamb, Son of Pentacles. "And there will be nights when your life will fall apart and no one will notice the morning you spent putting it back together"
(Quite similar to Pile 1, might want to check it out)
Pile 3, Light side of yourself you cannot see is that you are a very honest person. Trust worthy and have a strong integrity. People can/ tend to trust you with their delicate secret, such as, their credit card number, affairs etc. That is how trust worthy you are. You are also a grounded person, lots of earth energy. People feel safe and protected around you pile 3, like you have their back and are extremely reliable, especially in an emergency. They know to trust you to tell them the truth, tell them like how it is, even if it's not pleasant to do so. "Truth is a gift", and your light side is like a gift to the people. Precious, special, delicate but not fragile.
You are also very determined and patient. Slow and steady win the race kind of person. You are a type to bring support, lift people up and contribute in a big way into people lives, not adding drama, troubles or headaches. Life is easier for people, with you in their life Pile 3. You are very patient and consistent in every area of your life, work, friendship, hobbies, etc. People know what to expect from you and that is a good thing because this light trait of yours make people feel a sense of stability, predictability, and reliability. You have this consistency in your character which make people trust quite easily. "I know pile 3 will come prepare, or Pile 3 will alway have my back."
Your light side or maybe physical vessel might seem delicate but people would be shocked with how much you can endured or how much you had gone through pile 3.People would never guess that you had such a hard time because you come across as someone who have everything in order and there is nothing that is wrong in your life. But that just how you come across, even in your energy, but that is not necessary the truth. The truth is Pile 3, you went to shit, hell and back and able to make it look easy and effortless. Just another day in the office. But if people were to be in your position they would be shocked in how much you have to carried on your shoulders (traumas wise), and surprised by how light you still are, despite what you went through?. It's a mystery to the people and a testament to your strength.
Your light side is strong Pile 3, but in a way that's unexpected. You are strong in your honesty, vulnerability, your conviction and your ability to stand your ground. Your light side can get you through any bad situations and come out on top, come out still you, every time.(Pure) Because whereas most people would give up, you continue to step forward, step by step, consistently, no matter the weathers. That is why people trust you so much because they know you will alway show up no matter what, for them, for yourself, for justice.
Poem : The Truth Doesn’t Sell by @cant-find-my-name
No sooner or later
You’d notice an elephant in the
Living room
The clouds obscuring the
Moon
Plants growing between concrete
Your silence spreads
Like deadly diseases……

Song: Back to You by Flower Face
Shadow: High Priestess/Octopus. "When you love what you have, you have everything"
Pile 3
You got a major arcana (High Priestess) as your shadow self. This means that you got a major part of your self hidden in the shadow that you haven't been brought to light, yet. This side of you have an extremely strong intuition but you tend to ignore it. This side of you seem to questioned the intangible, the magic, the sprit side of thing. The things that cannot be proven, which means it's not real right?. Sometime the truth is in the feeling Pile 3,no need to touch it, cause you can't touch emotions but emotions are very real even though it's not tangible. This shadow side find it hard to trust in the unknown. You can trust hard work, day to day, the result from it, but a miracle that strike like lightning and made no sense and come from no where?, No way!. This shadow side of yours find it hard to have faith in the Divine. It is so attached and stuck in the 3D. Maybe too focused on what you can see, and ignore the sighs from your very strong, very real intuition, where you have to closed your eyes to see. Not everything that you think you need is in the 3D will bring that sense of security you are alway chasing. This shadow trait of yours, Pile 3, would have you work extra hard, extra diligent to get that promotion, that car, that house because you think you need it in order to feel secure and safe in this world. But true security comes from within, it come from connection within ourselves first and foremost and the connection between you and the source/Divine.That is the true security where it will truly make you feel safe in this world, the ability to trust one’s own intuition and something bigger than us.
Whenever you feel the need to chase that achievement in order to feel secure, sit still and connect with your own intuition because it would tell you to stop looking externally. It would tell you that you are enough as you are. You are the person you can love 100%.Your shadow self want you to trust in something bigger than yourself more.
Poem: Guiding light by @cant-find-my-name
Walk with me
Take my hand
I’ll guide you to where I am
Passing hidden memories
The illusion that drown out the
Objectivity.
I’ll replace it back to you
And show you the Objective truth….

Pile 4🥨
Light: Crocodile/Ace of Pentacles."People liked to focus on the things they couldn't have"
Pile 4, your light side is very patient, wise and observant. You have great inner discernment and wisdom to know what actually really matter. What is truly important. You know where to focus on to achieve your goals or to even be in a fulfilment/peaceful state in life. You know what to focus on in your life, which is the positive side of life. You take your time before you rush into things. Impulsiveness is not in your vocabulary. You need to observe and gather important information in order to make your move on anywhere or anything, whether that is a project, relationships. You might be good in investment, or a start up because you have the characteristic for it. Example, where people would focus on the profit, fame, status of entrepreneurialship. However, your light side know what to focus on, which is what is truly most important in life, the service, how can your business serve your community. How can we be of service to this earth, the humanity?.These are the big question your light side have an eyes for. You can see the whole picture, while most people only focused on themselves and what they can gain. Pile 4, you would make a stable, consistent leader. It's hard for you to succumb to instant gratification, you would be surprise how much you can hold back more than average on instant gratification, when you know the wait is worth it.Example, you won't buy a cheap furniture right now and saved and invested in a good quality ones where it will last you longer. Your ability to wait to strike when the timing is right is a strength you might not notice about your self because it just comes naturally to you, and Pile 4, when you strike at something, you never miss.
Poem: Kindness win by @cant-find-my-name
How kind of you to smile when you rather
Not
How kind of you to say ‘sorry’ first
How kind of you to notice unhappiness
In someone
How kind of you to hold the door
Open,
Every little gestures count
The impact life changing sometime
And you may never notice
How kind you are or the choices you made
Were kind……..
Song : come back home by BTS
Shadow: Horse/Justice."What suffering is behind your anger?"
Pile 4, your shadow side that you might not see is that you have more choices than you think. There might have been a limited mindset or limited viewpoint that you have. You might be unconsciously believed that your choice is limited. Your shadow side believes, that true freedom doesn't really exist. There has to be sacrifice, alway. There is no such things as true freedom. This side of yours feel limited, caged in, like you have to choose this or that and one is right and one is wrong, so you better choose the right one. Pile 4, the world is not black or white. There are truly no right or wrong choice for you to make, just one where it would benefit you or benefit others. Some choice might be right and seems wrong and vice versa, and some choices can be both. It's not neither or, it either and. I think this side of your feel that it has been making choices/ choosing a path that might have been benefiting others more than yourself, to the point of imbalance. Where it cannot helped but feel resentment towards others even though it was your own choice to do so. Example, I want to go for that promotion but since this co-worker of mine also want to, I choose not to and give it to them instead because they need it more?, something like that. And this side of yours that really want to go for that promotion wondered why can't we strive for it?, for our goals?, for ourselves.
Why do we have to make a choice benefiting others but not us?, what about us?. Why we need to hold back our momentum because of others?. Your shadow want you to run free, especially with your choices, express your wants and needs more. Want to dye your hair red?, go for it, no need to think if that person will approve of it or not. It is not their decision to make but yours. Go for what you aim for without the need to see if everyone is okay with it or not. You will find your buried anger/resentment will be abated after you acknowledge this shadow trait of yours, notice when you tend to hold back even to your own detriment, example, not confessing your feeling for A because you know B likes A, so you would give your way to B. Say it for yourself, do it for you. And F other people for once.
Poem: Show me by @cant-find-my-name
Surely, I must be sick
On the verge of death
The longing so deep
So agonising
Yearning for a miracle to exist
Or else, all my ability to feel
Will simply perish
I’ve lived on this earth
For far too long
To not be falling in love
Or be loved in return……

HIIIII okay so I’ve recently found your fanfics a Puss in boots, and I’ve officially become obsessed just the way you write the characters and the Settings that they are in are so good and like the way you enter angst is so good. The one thing I do wanna see though no hate your literally amazing is maybe Puss in the wrong I like dynamic where death realizes he’s wrong for his past action reflects because that is so strong and I love that we love a good redemption, but I would also like to see Puss maybe Being a little too mean or biased, or assuming not out of being mean or wrong, but out of like trauma, his past experiences with dad, have now shaped his choices towards him, and he realizes how much it’s affecting the way he treats him I don’t know I’m just babbling at this point but anyways much love and support. Please keep fighting writing, living and much love.
Bumbleb33_s - my a03 name
Hi! First off, thank you so much! It fills my heart with joy to hear someone enjoy my work so much 💖 And honestly that’s a route I’ve purposefully avoided going with my fics because I like Puss so much and he did nothing to deserve all the traumatic stuff Death put him through, BUT, that being said, I did actually recently come up with an idea that would fit in with Puss being meaner to him than he deserves now that you bring it up. I doubt I’ll end up actually writing it out since I don’t have the time, but the basic idea is that the reason Death did what he did was because he knew Puss would die if he didn’t step in.
Like, I found out that Death only popped up at times that Puss could very well die (except probably the cave), like when Puss is drinking at the bar after the talk with Dr. Mendez (he could well have drunk himself to death with that “heaviest cream”), when he’s leaving Jack Horner’s with the map and flaming arrows are being shot at him, the battle where Jack is shooting unicorn horns, and the final battle. And maybe he knew the only way to get Puss to truly value his final life instead of relying on more and eventually tearing through those as well, was to teach him what true fear felt like, and challenge him the way he did.
BUT, since Death isn’t actually allowed to interfere to extend lives (going purely by the rules of this fic), and this would fall under that umbrella, he couldn’t make it seems like that was his goal, instead acting like he was insulted and wanted to just torment Puss before killing him out of spite.
THEN he needs Puss’ help with something really important, otherwise bad stuff would happen to a lot of people (like a continent getting destroyed or something, idk, lol), and Puss only agrees after Death signs a pact that he won't hurt Puss or his friends. Now, since Puss isn’t afraid that Death will kill him at the drop of a hat, he feels a lot more free to say whatever he wants, which is usually some kind of jab at Death’s character (like “I’ll handle this one and nicely ask for directions, because I believe that were it up to you you’d probably threaten them at sickle point, since that seems to be how you solve your problems.”, “Yes, we could actually try to win the challenge, but why do that when you can just unfairly overpower them with your godly powers like you did with me?”, “Stand back, you’ll just give them nightmares with nothing more than your stunning personality.” etc) as a way to get back at his tormentor.
Death can’t defend his actions though, as he can’t let Puss know the truth. That he actually really admired and respected Puss (and still does), which is why he stuck his neck out in the first place. And also Death is a nice person in general, and basically just played the part of an evil jerk when dealing with Puss before. So he just takes it.
BUT THEN Puss notices how Death acts throughout their quest/journey (especially when he thinks Puss isn’t looking/paying attention). That he’s actually kind, considerate, and cares about others’ feelings (even something like a bug, helping it by flipping it over when it’s stuck on it’s back, and putting a baby bird back in its nest that got tipped, etc), and tries to figure out how that made any sense at all, considering what he put Puss through just a few weeks prior.
Eventually he does figure it out though (maybe right after the end of the adventure, when everything is resolved), putting Death’s actions through the lens of what seems to be his actual personality and moral compass. When confronting Death about it, Death urges him to stop, to not say what he’s thinking, but he can’t actually stop Puss, and when the words are out in the open Death gets in trouble with the higher powers.
Not wanting Death to be punished for what he did to him, since he now knew why he did it, Puss maybe goes through some trials to get an audience with said higher powers, and works his charms to get Death off the hook. Then they become friends or fall in love or something, the end~

There's two ways to win a defensive war: Render the opponent unable to continue the war against you, or render them unwilling to. That's it. What most modern governments have not adapted to is the fact that offensive military tech is cheap now. It takes basically 0 resources to continue launching attacks, especially if you don't particularly care how effective those attacks are.
And the way to render an opponent unwilling to continue attacking you has been generally through mass slaughter(real or threatened(hopefully of their troops)). Kill enough folks and if the generals don't give up in despair, hopefully the troops will.
The problem Israel faces is that they can't stop Hamas from launching cheap attacks by cutting off resources, supply lines, etc. Indeed, trying that just proves that they're oppressive. And they can't stop them by slaughtering Palestinians, since Hamas doesn't care(and dead Palestinians are good for Hamas recruitment propaganda).
But for a military, those are the two options. So they're stuck, and every action they take makes things worse.
The solution, of course, is that it's a morality and propaganda battle, not a military one. If Israel wants the Hamas rocket attacks to stop, they need to make it so that most Palestinians don't want Hamas to attack Israel. Joe Palestine on the street has to like Israel and want it to prosper, and not want any risks to his own good life, that way when his asshole neighbor starts bragging about showing the Israelis what-for, he shuts it down fast.
Which means giving Palestinians food and resources, freedom, a say in government, etc, that way they both like Israel and have something to lose. Which, funnily enough, is also the moral thing to do when you're running a conquered nation.
The problem with a strategy like that is that it's long-term for the benefits and short-term political suicide. And Hamas(who gets money and power for fighting Israel) will attack repeatedly while it's happening because they don't want it to work. But Israel has tried the "armed oppressive apartheid state" thing for 70 years now with no luck, so maybe it's worth taking a risk on NOT being assholes and seeing how that goes.

Very interesting for me so let me ask do you feel that way because i read the answers to your keigo in the todoroki plot answer and since her represents duty and endeavors arc has been about choosing to be a father for once do u think maybe enji will be in a situation where he will misunderstand hawks intentions where hawks will try to kill touya since he probably thinks he is the problem stopping the family from being happy and that entails him being in the past (just how he did with jin he believed he was good person but too bad in the big picture) and maybe thats when enjis choice will matter?
And maybe enji and Shouto stannding up for touya and especially seeing enji do this will also change his feelings about confronting his own parents that they can change forreal? I really feel ominous energy from him in recent chapters he puts duty to first place to a problematic extent and i feel like this will be his turning point (the battle against touya) since he thinks of him as dabi still just like enji did in the hospital chapter. ( rei too actually)
Yes, I do think there is a pretty high chance of Hawks attacking Touya would be the situation where Endeavor finally chooses to be a father.
We know that Hawks doesn't think Endeavor can "win" against Touya with the guilt he's carrying, plus Hawks sees Touya as the biggest problem in the battlefield right now - which is why he asked Endeavor to stop him.
I feel like Endeavor will try to talk his son down, but because he didn't come to Kamino, his words won't be in line with his actions, so he won't get through to Touya. This is when I see either Touya targeting Hawks or vice versa. I think it's most interesting if Hawks will try to take out Touya (taking on himself what he understands Endeavor unable to do, but sees as something that needs to be done) and Endeavor shields him, getting seriously, even mortally wounded in the process. There is a kind of poetic justice in it - best intentions paving the way to hell and all.
This would be a good moment for Shouto to arrive - to witness everything and bring the new generation idealism of saving everyone.
Also, I don't think Hawks is bad - he would be making rational choices that flow from his training and experience. He's incredibly useful in this battlefield - but doesn't change the fact that he manipulated the set-up as one of the planners so that Enji wouldn't have to face Touya.
As for his own parents, I don't think he needs to reconcile with them - the story told us that not forgiving is a valid choice. What I feel is that he needs to own his identity to be an authentic person. He can't keep hiding in this fairy-tale bubble he built for himself as a child to protect himself, choosing for himself a "perfect parent" in the Endeavor plushie and when that illusion is revealed to be untrue, Hawks just clings to it even harder. I think this is what the narrative requires of him - some honesty in who he is, where he comes from and to see his idol in his complexity.

jjk 225 spoilers below
i knew it that when all those 1000 yo fuckers started to come out with the barrierless domains that it would matter. that a barrierless domain is better. i feel so vindicated and satisfied right now. i love this fight. all the domain stuff comes together. the fact that gojou teaches us and yuuji about domains. hakari and higuruma’s unique domains. that moment when yuuji broke into mahito’s domain. the whole battle between kenjaku, tengen and yuki. all the domain moments with megumi, especially the reggie star battle.
i was always screaming at megumi that he’s wrong, that actually his domain can be extremely strong if he chooses not to focus on building the barrier. especially that his technique doesn’t lend itself to a sure hit effect that well. dumb megumi, i hope he’s learning now.
anyway, i knew gojou would be on the back foot against sukuna. the domain was one thing. but the second thing is that sukuna is an extremely smart and wise fighter, while gojou isn’t. he’s reckless and too sure of himself. when he said in the first chapters that he’d win... a death flag if i’ve ever seen one. and he kept proving it throughout the manga. the whole mess with touji in the past. in the present he didn’t even manage to keep hold of jougou. he didn’t kill hanami during the exchange event. time after time he left problems unresolved so they’d come back to bite everyone. if he’d finished off jougou and hanami it’d’ve been much harder for kenjaku to pull off shibuya. in shibuya he should’ve been more careful in general.
and the weeks in the box taught him nothing. he tried soloing a clever and prepared opponent in shibuya and lost. so he’s trying it again. and he will lose again.
gojou and sukuna are matched power wise. but gojou is just full of himself. sukuna is full of himself and fights extremely smart.
i’m not sure if it’s a killing blow but i won’t be mad if it is. sukuna fucking earned it and gojou fucking deserved it for all the constant failure and grief his recklessness has brought everyone.
so like the fight? A+
the chapter in total C
why are you all dumb fucks sitting there and watching? why aren’t you out there hunting down kenjaku? who’s on killing uraume duty? huh? i love how yuuji figures it out about the domains, my smart boy, he’s also a very clever fighter. but like i’d prefer it if he was trying to find his mum to spend quality time together. that’d be a better character moment.
like i’m a hxh person, i do love battle narration and detail oriented power systems. but like i’d be fine with just narration. the kids don’t have to say it, they can do their own stuff.

ohhh thanks for letting me know that the au is already taken. then can i request again for ouran high school host club and battle royale/hunger games (your pick)?
No problem at all, my lovely anon! Though this comes to you very late, I hope you'll enjoy the headcanons for this really fun, if angsty AU!
Okay, but this was actually a really hard AU for me to really decide upon ideas for and in the end, it kind of ended up being a combination of several different kind of battle royale type universes and ideas, mixtures of things influenced by various pop culture hits.
So, I did stick with the one general consensus among most battle royale type medias. This is definitely treated as a game of sorts, a game that is advertised and watched by everyone. it occurs once yearly and the contestants are always teenagers. Once you turn thirteen until the day you hit nineteen, you are eligible to play the game. The game is used to both keep citizens of a very dystopian society in line and under the power of the ruling monarchy and as a sick type of entertainment, the only televised thing other than news broadcasts, emergency bulletins, and daily reminders from the government on the weather and the expected role of each citizen within this dystopian world.
Needless to say, this game is a big deal. Now how are people selected, you might ask? Now, despite not being a huge fan of The Hunger Games (as in, I really don't like the books or the movies at all), I really am a fan of the district set-up, and I decided to incorporate that into this AU. So a champion is selected from each of the twelve districts that make up the world and, much like The Hunger Games, the districts are each responsible for one sole part of the world's economy and each districts champions really come with that specialized knowledge and skills.
The game does offer fame, riches, and good fortune to not only the winner but their entire district so, while you would assume that nobody would volunteer for the game, given that it is literally a life or death situation, a winner-take-all, kill or be killed game, there is always at least one champion who willingly volunteered to play the game each year.
And volunteering - actually a necessity. Each district is required to have someone 'volunteer' each year to be the champion. The government decided, after the first couple games, that randomly picking people made the government look like the bad guys, no matter the outcome, and so they make each district volunteer so that it looks like there's more widespread support for the game than there is. And how can you force someone to volunteer to potentially be slaughtered or to have to commit mass murder to survive? Easy…each district is given 24 hours notice of the selection date and they must, in that time, come up with a volunteer for champion. If the district refuses or cannot come up with a volunteer, the government helps them decide…usually by starting to kill off citizens until a volunteer comes forward. But all that is ever publicized and shown to the other districts is edited footage showing the champion supposedly bravely and confidently volunteering themselves for the game, all a PR spin.
This year's champions? From District 1, which makes luxury items and expensive jewelry, is Tamaki Suoh, who willingly volunteered for the games to prevent any slaughter in the district.
From District 2, which manufactures weapons, comes Mitsukuni Haninozuka, who prefers to be called Honey. Honey is a strong contender and one of the favourites to win the whole thing, especially with his immense strength despite his tiny stature.
From District 3, which manufactures electronics, comes Renge Houshakuji. A hardcore fan of the game, she also willingly volunteered. She has watched the games obsessively throughout her life, studied the strategies and is sure she can win this all.
From District 4, which specializes in fishing, comes Mei Yasumura. Mei was bullied from the time she was a child, rather friendless and very much a loner, despite her brash confidence and outgoing nature. It didn't exactly shock her or her family when she was told she was to volunteer or face death from her own neighbours.
From District 6, specializing in transportation and infrastructure, comes Kyoya Ootori. The son of a well to do family, it's always been expected that he would someday play and win the games, like his brothers had before him, and he has been training for this since he was a child.
From District 7, specializing in lumber, comes Ritsu Kasanoda. Despite his terrifying appearance, Ritsu is scared shitless of the games. He only stepped up and volunteered because he'd heard among the townfolk that his best friend had been decided amongst the district's citizens as this year's volunteer. Ritsu really does love his friend and though he is sure that volunteering will spell his certain death, he's just happy knowing he allowed his friend to have a future.
From District 9, which produces all the grain used, comes Umehito Nekozawa. A strange boy with an aversion to sunlight, he hides under a big cloak and seems to keep his distance from everyone, mostly speaking to a cat like puppet he wears on his hand. If his behaviour in the games is any indication, it's safe to say his district thought he was nuttier than a fruitcake and decided to make him volunteer to be rid of him.
From District 10, which specializes in raising livestock, come Akira Komatsuzawa. Though he knows his future will be decided for him based on where he was born, Akira is jealous of those lucky enough to be born in the most well-off districts and yearns to win the game and get the money and fame and fortune. He definitely volunteered before anyone else could.
From District 11, responsible for agriculture, comes Takashi Morinozuka, who prefers to go by Mori. A quiet and serious boy, Mori tends to disappear into the background of the game, something he does learn to use to his advantage.
From District 12, specializing in coal mining, comes Haruhi Fujioka. Haruhi is vehemently opposed to the games and had no intention of volunteering. Then again, neither did anyone else in her district. It took a full day of the government slaughtering civilians before Haruhi sacrificed herself as a volunteer to make it stop - she would either die in the games or die avoiding volunteering, and by volunteering, she could save many other people. Responsible and determined, she chose the path that aligned most with her moral compass and is walking into the game sure of her decision.
It's a funny story about the champions from District 5, which produces all electricity, and District 8, which produces all textiles. In a 'coincidence' orchestrated by the government, who thought it would make the game even more entertaining, the two champions are not only brothers but twin brothers, Hikaru and Kaoru Hitachiin. Though they are both originally from District 5, Kaoru had been in District 8 at the time of the selection, visiting his father as their parents are divorced and living in separate districts.
The game itself is brutal. But, being the biggest source of entertainment, there's no shortage of funds for it and the champions are decked out in the finest of battle outfits, each representing some aspect of their district, and are provided with the best of weapons fitting their districts. On top of that, each year's game setting is completely different, unique and totally new each year. This year's playing field? It is a secluded area, largely without trees and with no obvious sources of water. It kind of resembles a dystopian city, bleak, desolate, but with lots of buildings to hide in and take shelter, maybe find supplies to keep you going.
In between the deadly game of hide and seek each player must play against the other, four times a day, an alert goes off and one area of the playing field is set for destruction, with everyone in the area only having thirty minutes to escape the area before it is destroyed. Anyone left in the area is almost certainly guaranteed to die.
On top of this, throughout the course of the game, there comes additional 'mini-games', challenges that the players must participate in and beat. These challenges can, of course, be played and won alone, theoretically at least. In actuality, it's far easier to win these games if the players either group up into small groups or all cooperate together to beat the challenge. At the end of each challenge, the group of players must all choose a 'weakest link', the player who was the worst at the challenge or provided little help in beating it. That player will then be executed.
The first player to die in this game was Kaoru. He had immediately partnered up with his twin from the beginning, a strategy that worried Kyoya greatly, especially that early in the game. Single players are far easier to eliminate than groups working together, something all of Kyoya's training for the games had taught him from an early age, and Kyoya pulled some trickery. He pretended to want to form an alliance with the Hitachiin twins, which the twins bought…kind of. The twins are, after all, suspicious of anyone that isn't each other. They did hold Kyoya at arms length, didn't take any food or drinks from him, and held back a lot of their plans and game strategy. What they didn't take into account is how physically exhausting the game would be, especially the terrain, and it was when they needed to take a break that Kyoya attacked, without warning. He had honestly meant to kill both of the twins…however, by the time he had swung the crowbar and hit Kaoru hard enough in the head to kill him, Hikaru had definitely noticed what was going on. Enraged by his brother's sudden and gruesome death, Hikaru went a little crazy and was prepared to taser Kyoya to death. Kyoya proved too quick for the remaining twin though, running away.
Hikaru refused to leave Kaoru's body…to him, it was more a priority that Kaoru's body be given as proper a burial as possible. Kyoya could would and Hikaru swore to himself that he would survive the game long enough to kill the boy who took his brother from him. Kasanoda was the next to die, his quick temper getting him into an altercation with Komatsuzawa, who was itching to prove himself in the game anyway. Komatsuzawa played dirty during the fight, something Kasanoda could not bring himself to do with his strong moral compass and unfortunately, Kasanoda met his maker. His death was quick and painless though, a small blessing considering that Komatsuzawa figured out after that first kill that he rather enjoyed the thrill and rush of murder and that such a short death wasn't really satisfying - he wanted that pleasure to last a little bit longer each time he did it.
Nekozawa is the next to die and not even at the hands of another player. Nekozawa fell victim to his own habit of avoiding people. He had figured it would be safest to hide out and avoid everyone, letting them all kill each other while he and his cat puppet stayed safe, out of sight, and kept each other company. He had honestly had a really good plan, but he wasn't the smartest when he came to picking hiding places. While the building seemed in relatively solid shape, a rotten bunch of floorboards collapsed, sending Nekozawa plummeting down from the fourth level of a building to the basement. He was dead upon impact.
Haruhi is the fourth to die, a lesson in how serious those area alerts are. She died helping evacuate the area, saving Tamaki, Renge, Mei, and Honey's lives by getting them out of the area. Doing so, though she would have regretted not doing so, meant that she left herself no time to escape in the end and was caught and killed in the blast as a preplanted bomb detonated to destroy the block.
Renge kills Komatsuzawa after he attacks and almost butchers and assaults her. She was badly wounded in his attack, brutally so. Akira had not held back, emboldened by his previous kill and wanting so badly to experience that high, but in that desperation he had gotten sloppy and Renge used a piece of jagged, broken glass as a weapon, shoving it up through his eye and into his brain. She, however, bled out from her wounds within a matter of hours, making them the fifth and sixth casualties of the game and bringing the game's participants down to the halfway point.
It was at this point that one of the mini-games happened. To complete the challenge, Tamaki really did manage to convince almost all the players to work together. Mei, Mori, Honey, Hikaru…and supposedly Kyoya. However, Kyoya refused to really work well with the group, sabotaging the others if it meant a chance to weaken them, playing cut-throat and dirty like his father had taught him all his life to do. Kyoya's plan backfired when he found out how very easy it is for a group to vote you the weakest link, though all the other players hated to do so, even with Kyoya's cut-throat strategy. A lot can be forgiven, after all, when you know it's motivated by the desire to live.
Having seen so much death at this point though was starting to really take its turn on everyone and there was definitely some sanity slippage starting for several of them. None more so than Mei though, who reached a point where her mind just could not take anymore. She opted out of the game via suicide, jumping off a very tall building.
Honey and Mori had teamed up from the word go, much like the twins had. They'd also included Tamaki in their group and now the three of them are so close to the end of the game. It's no wonder Hikaru was the next to die - a group of three against one player? Not even the very confident and crafty Hikaru can survive those odds.
Honey is another casualty, much like Haruhi, of the area limits. And exactly like Haruhi, he died protecting someone. In Honey's case, it was his best friend Mori, someone he really loved. The moment was made even more tragic and touching by Honey's last act, putting Honey's prized pink bunny plush into Mori's hands, just as Honey pushed Mori out of the area range before the area was filled with a downpour of sulfuric acid that Honey was unfortunately caught in.
And then it was down to two…but Mori, after Honey's sacrifice, had a little bit more to live for. All he had to do was look at the pink bunny in his hands, after all, and he knew exactly what he had to live for. He had to live to win the game. And once he did? He swore to himself as Honey died that once Mori won the game, he would devote all his remaining life to figuring out a way to overthrow the government and dismantle the game for good.
Tamaki does die, making Mori the winner. Does Mori ever succeed in destroying the game and its legacy?? Who knows?

Grogu
Sometimes people were straight forward. They said exactly what they meant and you could trust their words. Then there were the times that people said things that seemed straight forward but you’d find out, typically at the worst possible moment, that they weren’t really saying what they meant. It was aggravating. Annoying even. Grogu wondered if Gor Koresh had felt that way.
After all his dad had actually said, “I promise you will not die by my hand.” A Mandalorian’s promise was as good as beskar. Or was it?
Grogu was pretty sure that this promise really meant something like, ‘I promise I won’t do anything to you because these critters over here have that covered and I’m not going to stop them or interfere in any way because you got yourself into this mess, now you can try to get yourself out of this mess.’ Or words to that effect.
Grogu didn’t actually blame his dad for that at all. Gor Koresh had tried to have the Mandalorian killed so he could steal his beskar armor and presumably get a lot of credits for it. It certainly wasn’t going to fit the shorter person. And Mandalorian armor wasn’t easy to modify. You had to bring it to a Mandalorian armorer and good luck finding one of them.
Grogu supposed that maybe the Mandalorian was trying to teach the greedy mob boss a lesson of some sort. The only lesson he was taking from the words and events that transpired was don’t cross a Mandalorian. They’d be happy to give you the same chance at success that you thought you were giving them.
Now that was the real rub to it all. Din Djarin was an honorable person. But it wasn’t that sort of honor that caused him to take risks that made no sense. He wasn’t going to go off and do something silly like face down a whole bunch of battle droids just because he made a promise. But he was going to hold you to your own standards. In many ways that was worse. Especially if you were a mob boss or a certain Imp Warlord. If you wanted to play stupid games with him you could be assured that you were very likely to win stupid prizes.
Grogu could understand why Mandalorians in general might behave like that. They were warriors at heart, but they still liked peace and quiet when they could get it. If they just fought non-stop they’d never have time to polish their armor or eat their rations in tiny little bites. So they followed the standards of the people who fought them. For the most part.
Grogu wondered if that’s why the Jedi had such a problem with the Mandalorians over the years. If someone grabbed you using the Force and prevented you from firing your weapon at all, how could you let their weaknesses stop their success? Unless you tired them out and then what? He was sure that the Creed had something to say about hurting enemies who weren’t actually a threat to you.
So it just became a vicious cycle. Fight until your opponent is exhausted. Then they do the same thing to you and it goes back and forth until what? Someone gets lucky? That was probably true.
Of course that was all predicated on the Mandalorians wearing their beskar and the Jedi having their lightsabers. If those things changed it would get awful pretty quickly. It had been awful as far as Grogu knew. The Mandalorians had a civil war and then the Imps decided to ratchet it up and destroy the planet and well, now, the few Mandalorians who were left wondering the galaxy had to put up with people like Gor Koresh. Uff.
Grogu wondered what kind of Mandalorian he would end up being. He saw the advantage of having the beskar armor, but that would just mark him as a target to everyone who was greedy and knew the value of the beskar. Or he could follow the path of the Jedi and get robes and build a light saber and find himself fighting people because that’s what Jedi did when words didn’t work.
Grogu was pretty sure that words were not going to be his best bet because he really didn’t like Gal Basic and he didn’t know any Huttese or Jawaese, or even Jawa Trade Talk. Maybe he could just use the Force to calm everyone the heck down? That had worked, more or less with the mud horn.
At least he had sometime before he had to work any of that out. They were headed to Tatooine and Grogu liked visiting that planet. The people he met were mostly friendly and at least he’d get something good to eat. No matter who your enemies were you needed to keep your priorities in order. He was sure the Mandalorian had told him that. Grogu promises.

There's something weird about the DC movies. Specifically WW 1984 and The Flash. Both movies have pretty clear morals to their climaxes, and those morals are basically "don't hope too much or try to change things." Which are weird ones to have in anything, but especially mind boggling to have in superhero media.
Wonder Woman 1984
So, for those who don't know, WW1984's villain is a dude who fuses with a magical wishgranting rock, but, when you make a wish on the rock, you have to give up the thing you value most in exchange (the rock doesn't tell you this ahead of time). So the dude goes around granting wishes until he gets access to every screen on the planet and gets everyone to make a wish on him so he can take their most valued things. In order for Wonder Woman to beat him, she shows him that this is hurting his son (by destroying the world) and he convinces everyone to renounce their wishes. The day is saved, and WW can go try and move on from her dead boyfriend or whatever.
Now, the thing is, the guy who was granting the wishes wasn't actually doing anything. He was absorbing power from the people who were making wishes, but he wasn't using that for any purpose. What was destroying the world was the wishes themselves. Every single person who makes a wish on screen wishes for bad shit. Like there's a lady who wishes for someone to die and then the dude just drops dead. Shit's fucked up.
What this means is that the thing causing the danger isn't an evil villain; he's only creating the opportunity. What's to blame for the oncoming end of the world are the wishes of humanity. It is, in effect, bad to wish for things, not because you might get your shit sucked out by an evil rock, but because your wish might come true. It is only by not wishing for things that you can help Wonder Woman save the world.
The Flash (spoilers, if you care)
This one's about Flash trying to change the past. Time travel, woo. He goes back in time to save his mom from being murdered, and he actually succeeds, but he gets knocked out of the time travel and realizes that as a result of his actions all the super heroes are MIA and Zod (evil general superman) is about to invade.
Flash meets up with himself from this time and gets the band back together, with Batman and Supergirl because Superman didn't arrive in this timeline. Then they go to fight Zod. Montage, music plays, big battle scene, until, they lose. Supergirl and Batman die, so the Flashes need to go back to the past to try and save the day.
Then they fail. And it's kind of interesting, I guess, because we're trained to expect the heroes to succeed at this sort of thing. Then they go back in time again to try and save the day, only to fail again, and again, and again.
Our flash explains to the new flash that this is because this is fated to happen. Zod wins and the planet is destroyed, there's nothing they can do about it. The other flash refuses to listen and keeps trying to save the day until he threatens the fabric of time and space and an evil monster appears.
The twist is that the monster is the other flash, after countless attempts to change the outcome, he's become unrecognizable and now he's here to stop our Flash from stopping him from saving the day. He tries to kill our Flash, but the other Flash takes the hit, dying in the process and erasing his future self from existence.
Our Flash realizes what he has to do, he goes to unchange the past, and then he returns to the present, where his mom's still dead, but at least his dad isn't in prison anymore.
Once again, the Big Problem, isn't the villain. Zod's an obstacle, sure, but the thing threatening to destroy all of existence isn't him, it's the fact that Other Flash wants to save the day. If he just gave up, then all solvable problems would be solved. And it's by giving up on, uh, having a living mother, that our Flash does save the day in the end.
So you can see my problem with this
The moral of the story is that some things can't be changed, and if you try to fix them, you'll only hurt yourself and others. The moral of the story is that if you wish for things, you'll wish for something wrong and selfish, so you need to not wish. These are morals, kinda, if you squint at them, but they suck. They're depressing and hopeless.
And they're especially bad in a Superhero Movie.
The whole point is to reach for what's impossible. We're here to watch larger than life figures prevail against impossible odds and save the world. We're here to change the things that can't be changed, and to wish for a brighter world. These morals are practically antithetical to the genre they're presented in. And if you're, like, writing fucking Watchmen, then sure, that's fine, but when you're writing blockbuster bright and colorful superhero movies—when Watchmen's already come out, when we've got more evil supermen than we have fingers and one of them's already appeared in your own universe—what're you even doing?
These are for kids, man. And the kids in us if we're lucky. Let 'em hope.

Love Bombing Kills Progress With Imposter Syndrome
At least it did with me.
My long, repetitive battles with Imposter Syndrome previously made me damn near immune to love bombing, because my instinct is normally to be suspicious of kindness and praise and compliments. Weirdly, once I'd made a lot of progress and had started to win some battles with Imposter Syndrome, that's when a love bomber got me.
There's this tendency with a lot of humans (myself included) to fluctuate between extremes at times. I'm not talking about mood swings or moving across the political spectrum or fashion trends or whatever (although all of those things are examples I guess). I'm being more general, and I've seen it particularly when people are learning, are progressing, which is why major and dramatic change happens so often with younger people...because they are nearly constantly learning and progressing. The pendulum metaphor is used a lot, but I'm using a different one to try and explain what I mean. Have you ever been caught in stand-still or creeping traffic, and then it opens up after a lot of dragging frustration, and instead of picking up your trip at the speed limit (or close to it) at a reasonable acceleration rate, you just jam on the gas to GO because it's such relief to no longer be STOPPED? Or on the flip side, being on a relatively open road with like...Queen's Another One Bites the Dust thumping on your turned up car radio and having your foot basically to the floor because you've zoned out and then seeing a police car ahead and slowing way the fuck down because YIKES? Yeah, that. That almost involuntary instinct to swing hard to overcorrect in the other direction when you think you've gone too far one way. Binge eating after dieting (or dieting after binge eating) is basically the same thing. And it's not always in our control, especially with our mental health conditioning.
I think this is why I fell for the love bombing I got in 2022. And unfortunately, that jamming on the gas got me a ticket, and so now I'm back to creeping way below the speed limit. I guess at least I'm not stopped.
But I thought I'd write about this today because it's annoying me. It's annoying me that being who I've always been basically is bothering me now, like it's a problem, and also because it's annoying that I feel like now it's healthy to be suspicious of kindness and praise and compliments (at least for a while), and that's shitty. It's shitty that there's a toxic, harmful behavior set that people use to manipulate, deceive, and abuse other people called 'love bombing.' It's shitty that we're wise to mistrust things that feel like love; that make us feel good and whole and seen; because of this shit, especially those of us (so many of us) who are starved for those feelings. It bothers me how much progress I've lost with my social anxiety and Imposter Syndrome because of the pandemic in general, and this past year's personal relationship experiences in particular, because it's validated all of my worst internal dialogue, social instincts, and fear, so thoroughly. I'm having a hard time breaking out of the spirals lately. Because what the little voice of the spiral says now doesn't only lie to me with shit like, 'Your work is crap; you shouldn't let anyone see it. You're annoying; don't reach out to talk to other people; no one wants to hear it/hear from you...' but it's also now VALIDATING me with things like, 'You were RIGHT to be afraid to meet new people; you were RIGHT to mistrust any praise; you were RIGHT to be afraid of touching other people/getting too close/ going to the grocery store...'
Sigh.
I guess I'm just bitching. But maybe if I talk about it enough I can get up to the speed limit again for a while.

Top Executions!!! They can be any for any game and you can even say any of the executions that weren't used. Victims and/or survivors executions
Hmm... This one is really tough, since I'm not the biggest fan of the executions in general, you know? As such, I won't rank them, but I will list the executions (or unused executions) that I liked in general.
Since there will be spoilers here for both DR 1 and 2 (I've still not seen 3, since the GG haven't played it yet and I have no interest in playing these games myself), I'll put a read more. ^-^
Ask me my “TOP 5/TOP 10” anything!
Alright, so here's the list of executions that I somewhat liked. ^-^
Gundham's execution. Obviously it was hella sad, but I liked the touch of him having put his Dark Devas down and having them watch and be all sad. It was freaking heart breaking, but in a good way, you know? I also felt it was fitting for his character to be killed by animals in some way. It was more fitting to his character than some of the executions, at least.
I'm not sure if you also meant the deaths of those who were murdered in this, but I figured I'd also add that I liked the whole situation surrounding Nekomaru's death. I like how it was shown that it was a legit battle between Nekomaru and Gundham, and that Gundham did legitimately win... kind of. Technically using his dark deva and utilizing Mechamaru's sleep switch wasn't super honorable, but it was utilizing his talent and was done in as fair a way as possible. Honestly, the motives of the murders in DR 2 were much better than the ones in DR 1, I think. They all had some good, legit reasons for doing it and it felt more believable than the first game, I think. Even Nagito's motive for his suicide was understandable in the end. Though... dear god, was that whole thing messed up. Nagito, bro, ya got problems.
I'm gonna be honest here; I actually do kind of like Mondo's execution. I know a lot of people don't, and I think some of it has to do with something I don't quite know about (if anyone does want to explain or point me towards an explanation for what was wrong with Mondo's execution, feel free), BUT just based on the execution itself... I did kind of like it. For one, I like the idea of Mondo dying on a motorcycle. I wrote about this in my mini fic thingy, Another Life, but I do think it would have given Mondo some comfort in the end. I always kind of thought that Mondo would be more understanding of dying if he died in a motorcycle accident, you know? It's one reason in TPWM I always have him be so indifferent to the thought of death when riding his bike. He doesn't necessarily want to die, but he's made peace with the idea, especially after what happened with Daiya. Also, dying by asphyxiation seems... tamer than the other deaths. Like... getting pelted to death by baseballs, burned at the stake, or crushed by a machine (not to mention battered up and then thrown into a volcano, killed after fighting off many opponents while realizing you may have accidentally killed someone you love, getting trampled to death, crushed by tetris, shot off into space on an... explicit hand syringe rocket thingy????? seriously what the hell was Mikan's death what)... of all of them, asphyxiation seems like a relatively painless, simple death. The whole Mondo butter thing was weird, yes, but to me that always seemed more like a stylistic thing, not what really happened... you know? Also, even if he did somehow turn into butter, he still would have asphyxiated before that happened, so... it's something.
Honestly, none of the other executions in canon were ones I liked much, so this last one is one of the unused executions from the first game. And this one is Taka's, since I saw this super cool fan animation of his execution, and while I hate the execution in theory, the art is awesome and the execution is somewhat fitting for his character. Very gruesome, and after what happened to the former PM of Japan not super topical (I don't know much about the man, so I won't say any more than this), but it's still an interesting way to go. Obviously it would never have been used, and if it was, I'd have hated the game for having Taka kill someone, but still. A cool concept. Anyway, here's the fanimation if anyone else was curious. Just a warning, but it does have an assassination by gun in it, so, uh... yeah.
Anyway, yeah, not the biggest fan of the executions in the first two games to be honest, but these are my top, I guess. Oh! And I just wanted to say this here even if it's kind of unrelated, but what the hell Mahiru?? Seriously, who the hell says to someone who just found out about the murder of their little sister "you know you shouldn't have sought out revenge for the murder! That's bad!" Like... dude!!! You covered up a murder!! Also, this is someone in the Yakuza and you were alone with him!!!! What did you think was gonna happen!!!!! Sorry, but I just wanted to say that somewhere, it's been driving me mad since I saw it. I was never the biggest fan of Mahiru's character, but that whole thing made me honestly mad. It just seemed very inconsiderate and honestly cruel.
Thanks for the ask!! :-D

morthal and markarth for the skyrim asks!
Ty for the ask! 💞
Morthal - Do you enjoy exploring dungeons and ruins? Why or why not?
Kinda depends tbh. Dungeons with multiple rooms absolutely FULL of enemies encourage a more stealthy approach, and while I'm a capable stealth archer, it's not my preferred play style, so it can be a bit unfun. The alternative, however, is the ENTIRE DUNGEON hearing me engage in melee and swarming me at once, which. Also isn't fun. Ultimately I guess the answer comes down to "depends on the number of guys in there" and "how likely is Marked For Death to solve the entire issue?" Skyrim is basically the only game where, when given a choice, I'll choose martial over caster or archer, but this can be a problem in packed dungeons. I like single or few guy brutal slugfests where we just beat the shit out of each other. Also then I can just take a break to throw up my shield and watch Celann materialize to OHKO them, which fills me with glee literally every time
Markarth - If you could rewrite one questline in Skyrim, which would it be? (This answer is sooooo long btw)
Hmm... I'm actually not too interested in a lot of them, but when it comes to being disappointed in one, it's the Civil War questline. The entire thing amounts to "use your main character powers about 5 times in a dungeon or something and then go fight the oppositional leader." You can't even fix Whiterun, a place you specifically took for its geographical, strategic, and mercantile advantage. You just leave it in ruins???
There are two quests in the entire line that aren't just "awkwardly storm this place with a couple guys,' and one of them is optional. Both sides have a "steal/plant enemy orders" quest, but the "gaining intel/blackmail" quest is in both cases entirely optional. There's one non-combative "sneak and find this document/gather intel" quest, and no "root out a traitor" or "disrupt a supply line" type quests (technically this one is awkwardly tacked onto the end of the optional quest.) The Dark Brotherhood, Dawnguard, and Thieves Guilds have similar respective quests that we can compare to the 1.5 non-combative Civil War quests: finding intel on Maro's son, the radiant "vampire advisor" quests, basically the entire beginning TG questline (Honningbrew, Goldenglow hives.)
Each of these questlines involve non-typical quests, aka quests where you have to approach it a little differently than the rest of your work: the Brotherhood stealing documents and planting false evidence like thieves, the Dawnguard committing assassinations and pickpocketing orders like both the Brotherhood AND the Guild, the Guild quest where you engage not only in open combat with Mercer, but kill him, like both the Dawnguard and, well, the Brotherhood Brynjolf insists you're not.
While those questlines are largely the same sort of quests on repeat, it's because they're, well, specialized guilds. Built entirely around doing those things. That's their entire function. When it comes to a war (which is very NOT a guild,) you'd expect a bit more than just a few skirmishes, especially considering the only thing that changes when you join is, well. There's one more guy in the skirmish. But magically this turns the tide and the entire war is won through brute force when previously there seemed no end in sight. The questline lacks variety, is incredibly, oddly short for what's supposed to be a war, and generally just... lacks impact. Nothing really happens afterwards. Faction camps are still sitting around, and you still can't even clear them. Hold guards are replaced by the faction that won and Whiterun is permanently in shambles. Can't even fix Whiterun ffs there's not even quests for that.
* After leaving this in the drafts for a few weeks and thinking about it some more, I think ultimately the problem IS the brevity. "Do four battles and suddenly we win" is absolutely insane. The Dawnguard DLC and the Thieves Guild, even the one single time I played it, have spoiled me rotten with the never ending radiant quests. It prevents the Companions feeling of "I joined three days ago and now I'm in charge and everyone does what I say" that throws everyone off. Not only can you keep accepting them, the mainline quests don't get in the way of accepting them (... like the Companions only telling you to go talk to Aela.) This means you can keep accepting radiant quests that provide a feeling of integration and contribution (in)to the guild, and also avoids the Companions and Civil War feeling of "I did three quests and it's over and everyone is bowing to me" by allowing you to do guild things in-between the main quests.
Not only that, but they offer a variety the main line might not provide, especially with the Dawnguard. For example, siding with the Volkihar includes a quest where you're given Dawnguard armor and told to go cause a scene, striking down some innocent civilian in the name of "vampire hunting" to sow public distrust. This quest is cool as fuck conceptually btw, why is a Volkihar radiant cooler than the entire CW line???
Ultimately I think if I could change one thing about the Civil War line specifically it would be adding TG/DG style radiant quests that can be done between main missions and also include "milestone" type quests that really bring home the feeling of growth and contribution. I think it would make it feel considerably less jarring and I'd even maybe consider playing it again if we could fix Whiterun.
#asks#uh. i am. so sorry this took so long to answer alsnkwnswk i couldnt word my thoughts on the cw line satisfactorily#idk man the war before you join is this brutal slog that supposedly is severely impacting the entire population#no end in sight because no one has the upper hand#and then the quests just. are more battles. the ones that were getting no one anywhere besides a grave#like if the same battles in the same places werent really getting results youd think youd try literally anything else#sure you get the crown and whoever you bavk gets public support but i dont recall that really resulting#in like. any extra supplies or soldiers or anything#like the whole point is there ARENT any supplies left for ANYONE and people who can be soldiers are#on the basis of 'its literally a CIVIL war' it is an internal thing#and then you do the one (1) not open combat keep storming quest and divert some weapons#fr i think those are the only changes#idk it was super boring to play through and the reward for my efforts was a fucked up whiterun#like. thanks. i cant even fix it???? wtf#anyway this has been in my drafts for WEEKS im just posting this#okay coming back after that last edit actually i have one last thing to say#dawnguard 10/10 for not making you the leader at the end no one listens to you youre just some guy#which is soooooo. great. no one does it like dg im busy i dont wanna lead your fucking guild#and isran would never fucking let you. he would come back as a malevolent ghost if he died and keep running the guild#absolute dawnguard supremacy in cast quests and not making you god spin that fucking chore wheel boy#edited to add the ask game link rip

Sixt character card
Sixt is my main OFC, created for my fanfic Broken and Lost but Healing, but you can find her in most of my Star Wars fanfics. While her background changes with the needs of the story in which she appears, in Broken and Lost but Healing she's a nat'born half-human working for the Empire, at least at the beginning of the story.
Sixt never knew her parents and grew up in an orphanage. Realising early on that she would have to work hard to get by, she threw herself into her studies with the energy of desperation, which enabled her to win a scholarship from the Republic to finance her medical studies. The quid pro quo, however, was a year's free service to the Republic for every year of study paid for by the Republic. The problem was that a few months after Sixt left the university with her diploma in hand, the Clone Wars began and she found herself a medic in the GAR, scouring the most violent frontlines, trying to save clones who hadn't asked to be there and who most of her colleagues didn't even consider human. As a semi-human orphan, Sixt knows what racism and discrimination are, and she can't stand it in others any more than she can stand it in herself. Sixt's childlike idealism soon collided with the cruel realities of the galaxy, and her time with the Empire taught her to keep her conscience in check.
Sixt doesn't believe in the Republic or the Empire, it's just a background she has to live with. She didn't choose to serve either, she was forced into it by circumstance. To her, the Republic, the Empire, the war… are fatalities she cannot fight. Even though she doesn't share their vision, she stayed in the Empire because she had nowhere else to go and it was, by her own admission, more comfortable than having nothing, no family, no home, no job, nowhere to go… In her own words, she preferred to be tossed around by events she could do nothing about, like a leaf in a river, rather than fight them in vain. Meeting Crosshair was the catalyst she needed to abandon her costly comforts and follow her own conscience.
Sixt is a fiercely loyal character who will not tolerate betrayal or injustice, or at least what she perceives to be betrayal or injustice. Far from perfect, however, she can be so easily misled by her loyalty and attachment to Crosshair that she feels nothing but anger towards the Batch before she even knows them. She is a complex character, capable of feeling compassion for her patients and indifference towards strangers. She is kind and polite, or tries to be, but threaten her loved ones and you will see her turn into a vengeful fury whose anger can intimidate even the bravest of men.
Although she can be violent in her feelings, she is not cruel and the violence she displays is only verbal. Her threats are rarely followed by action. Although Sixt initially dislikes the members of the Batch, she is first and foremost a doctor, and her instinct is to look after their health. As she becomes more and more involved with them, she also becomes attached to them. Sixt is not a soldier, but she has been trained and knows how to defend herself if necessary. She says she killed clone patients in cold blood, but out of pure compassion, when she knew they were too wounded to return to battle and would be sent back to Kamino to be coldly executed. She's not proud of it, but she did what she had to do to give these clones a quick and painless death, surrounded by their brothers.
Six is of average height for a nat'born (around 1.65 m or 5.4 ft), although she can be considered short compared to the clones, especially Crosshair. She is also generously curvy and slightly overweight. Her fiery red hair is always worn in a short braid that barely touches her shoulders. Her blue-green eyes have oval pupils, but the first thing you notice about her are her pointed, mobile ears, set on the top of her skull like those of a cat or a horse. Once you get to know her, the way she moves her ears is enough to tell you her mood. Contrary to what people often think when they see her, she does not have a tail.
FUNFACTS: → I have no idea why some of my female characters have these weird pointy ears, except that I think it's funny. → Unfortunately, I'm terribly distracted and had to stick a post-it note on my screen to remind myself that Sixt could also express herself with her ears. → Sixt didn't have a name when I introduced her into the story in chapter 3, and it was when I was writing the first scene between her and Omega that her name came out of nowhere.

We're witnessing something here and it is the total destruction of the morlock has a race. And you're all going and you're not fighting it much and everybody's getting up on you and it's horrible. We don't like the empire either and they're acting stupid like you do they'll probably be next in the foreigners can't stand them. And I'm sure when they're alone they'll have problems but for Christ's sake you Max are horrible no matter what form you're in. You're full of urine and vinegar and your nasty and nasty talkers. Just fooled rotten from thousands of years of rule especially Tommy f he is massively spoiled and acts like it overtly it's disgusting
-you're an ugly people you're a nasty race you're stupid and you're mean and mostly annoying as hell it's a sign that you're probably getting to work done but you don't care and you've been doing it for a long time so just have to take care of you like I said we do and we're working on it and we're pretty huge bases in right on top of where yours were then we take care of the bunkers below first. That's what we're doing a lot of today in the eastern hemisphere huge basis that the empire had and McDonald's too and they are surrounding the deserts and there are some that remain from the war against the bases and we said that we took down them all and it was really 75 to 80% depending on which hemisphere and the ones that remained out of that were outside the desert areas but working on those too so far in the desert we have taken over five a very large basis inside the Sahara limits and we're going for more and it's because you're in fight and you're wasted time and we're not going to die by the hand of Tommy f the spoiled rotten complete moron. So Tommy f doesn't get it you're screwing around with him and annoying him in a way that gets people like him and us to kill you and people are encouraging it but you're doing too cuz you don't understand the effects because you're stupid and obtuse we are reading your facilities and taking everything you have fairly soon you'll have nobody topside no facilities down below except for your ships and it's approaching that 10% more and you're there with the more lock they have about 8% of the general populace not including clones who are about 6% now and they're plummeting fast it is around 1% a day at this time. Fairly soon that rate will actually speed up and on Island as well. It will have to do with the middle areas where there's half of your population and you're trying to come out and it won't work and the ones in the perimeter will trying to win it won't work and they will leave to the islands because of their asinine talk it's already happening in a cycle that's small it's going to get bigger once you're out including the McDonald's there will be Max foreigners and us and they'll be ships and the max will start fighting and they're getting smaller too they're 10% they will be cut in half the first day of the battle with foreigners because they're asinine way and people don't do that overseas and they will fight after that and help set up for us against foreigners and soon to be over for all satanists

Minor Deities of Nyoka
Minor gods aren't always necessarily gods. Most often, they are mortal to some capacity, possible extremely powerful mages who have ascended their mortal form, or a force of energy manifested through a collective thought.
List of Minor Nyokan Gods
Nexus
Nexus is a god of puzzles, riddles, problems, and solutions. His brain is a Rube Goldberg machine. Nexus is nonviolent, but that doesn't stop him from being the most bastardous and annoying piece of shit you'll ever have to deal with. Him and Weâbus are magical colleagues, but since ascending to a god status, have had a bitter rivalry. They both have their respective cults, but the cult of Nexus is mostly filled with psychopaths and blithering idiots. If he could kill them all, he would, but the contract he signed explicitly prevents him from doing so.
Nexus appears as a young man, roughly 15 years old. Due to him striking a deal with a fiend at a young age, he was granted biological immortality, but was not informed he would remain in the same physical form for the remainder of that immortality. This makes it hard for him to get taken seriously, and he is well aware of this, and while it can be advantageous at times (he saves heaps at buffets,) he is not a fan of that fact.
Weâbus
Weâbus, the handsome, suave, all-seeing blind god of time. He's one of the two most powerful warlocks in known history, one who ascended past this plane of reality to another, where he's revered by members of his own cult. He can tweak history to his own benefit, and if he didn't want you to know about him, you wouldn't. Luckily, he's got just as much ego as he does power.
Arion
Arion is a patron god of the sick and injured, as well as the disabled, the mentally ill, and healers who tend to them. Helpful in times of crisis. A guardian of life. Typically appears as an old man, or a shepherd.
Marakas
Marakas is a god of the working class, and a god of justice. Marakas is a bastardization of Marx, as their followers’ religious texts are made from lost editions of Marxist writings stored in the Library or discovered in tombs. Marakas is seen as a guardian of the weak, and an almighty unifier. Worship of Marakas is banned in Olveris, Jazir, and their subsidiary settlements, for obvious reasons.
Pascus
Pascus is a god of war and peace - particularly ordered, balanced, and just warfare. They're not an angry or violent god, but they are stoic and lack much empathy for cowards and war criminals. Pascus is seen as an influencer in who wins a battle. People assume Pascus watches each attack, watches the moral bearing of every general, watches the determination of each soldier. Whoever fights the hardest, whoever puts the most of themselves toward their goal, will have a helping hand in battle.
Corinne
Corinne is a god of death, though she is not feared or seen as a dark, looming presence. This god of death is seen as a life-bringer, in ways, especially by the Hollow, who see her as a figure of maternity. She typically manifests as a woman in a long, white dress, with a warm smile and flowing hair, but she is said to appear in whatever form makes you the most comfortable. It could be a friend, a significant other, or even a dog.
Argon
Argon is the seafarer’s patron. Typically depicted as a dark-skinned man wielding a fisherman’s spear and a net, Argon represents the ideals of the gritty sailors that float across the Northern Sea. Sailors tell tales of their encounters with Argon, but it’s always hard to tell which stories ring true. One consistent trope is the appearance of a lighthouse during a storm, one that dissipates as the ocean settles.
