Loving the vibe of Izzy and Stede... I won't say their necessarily getting along quite yet, I don't want to jinx it, but like... they're getting along and it's fucking great.
the way he actually tries and help Stede out, in his own way (which is aggressive but very real and upfront, and it clearly shapes Stede), he helps him with the crew and the curse, gives him that little 👌 when he manages to scare the guy with the wanting shot, he stands behind him with the rest of the crew, showing his support of the new captain.
I think he genuinely gives a shit, if even a little one for Stede, and a massive one (though he'll never admit it unless his hand is forced, which I see coming in the near future) for the crew, and isn't just acting like a good dog/right hand. like I think he's genuinely healing, in the best way? absolutely not, but, it's definitely something and I love that for him.
also, him and Lucius getting along, in there own fucked up way, and Izzy giving him the shark and the advice, it's great. (loving the nickname twatty, it's killing me)

though, lingering over that last post....I wonder how easily this trips into horror story? I mean, in this world where there are child-producing marriages and then sisterhoods/brotherhoods for the rest, this obviously allows the family to keep a stranglehold on their collective assets and wealth. Therefore, I bet that family is an even more tightly-locked cage for those born into it.
Oh, you thought that if you could just escape marriage you'd be free, didn't you? You thought you could join the local order and letter manuscripts or tend goats or say prayers over the dying---but no. No, that's for other people's sons and daughters. You have no escape. You will serve your family forever, whether you will or no. You marry who they tell you to and live in your family's third-nicest castle your whole life; you can have as many lovers and bastards as you want, you can earn coin all on your own, if you can, but it will come to naught in the end. You will be cursed with absolute surety of where you fall: res nullius.
As it was and ever shall be, amen.

No but seriously if Miles had got home to his parents before Miguel what was Miguel going to do? Snatch him away from his mother and father without a fight?
Would he have even had it in him to actually look at this kid he’s been calling an anomaly and mistake the entire time, shielded by his parents, parents protecting their child, a child, and still just write him off as an anomaly? To match the glare of Miles and justify why he can’t is to protect what is important to him as they hold him? To match the glares of Rio and Jefferson and say they must understand that they have to hand over the focal point of their universe because of predetermined bullshit they could quite literally never understand?
I feel like a stand-off between him and the three of them would be less violent but somehow more of a punch to the gut than actually see them fighting.

ah yes. please familiarise yourself with the list of guests, take note of what version type and iteration of our software they use and for what reason, what sector they are, and what are their most recent - let's say year to date - trends in incidents and educational content engagement. and what country they're from, of course, and whom else they'd like to connect to during the event so that you know who to introduce them to. the main languages other than english will be french german and italian and you're of course not expected to know them but it'd be great to learn some basic phrases to make them feel welcome. the list will also contain their hotel room numbers so please memorise them in case they want assistance in reaching the room, and also any reported food preferences so you can be helpful once refreshments are served. not everything will be kosher and halal so we'll make sure you know that too and can let them know. oh also buy shoes that look official but are super comfortable because there's not much of a chance you'll get to sit at any point

Thinking thoughts about those from Cuivienen and how they later treated the Valar, especially after Cuivienen was destroyed.
I imagine a foundation of sorrow and a layer of betrayal and pettiness. They had promised safety. And how did it turn out? Kin of Tata and Tatie their first leaders, slain in Valinor by the Dark Hunter from which the Valar promised protection in Valinor.
And then, the War of Wrath comes and with it the destruction of Cuivienen.
If any of those were re-embodied in Aman, I wonder if they make it a point to always turn their back to Valar and Maiar. I wonder if they only speak in the tongue they had first devised all those millennia ago and spoke in Cuivienen before time and different kindreds changed the tongue, not Sindarin or Quenya from the Great Journey's time or later. I wonder if they sing songs in their ancient tongue, songs about the beauty and unsullied health of Cuivienen every time any of the Ainur are near.
I wonder if the Valar feel any shame when those who they once looked upon in wonder and love gaze back at them with indifference or disgust.

The way it's so easy to not be a garbage person, especially at the risk of your career. And he was just so sure he'd get away with it because he has an inflated ego.
