ok but imagine. imagine during the 27 years. richie and eddie bumping into each other randomly. they stop and stare for a few moments, as it registers in their brains wait i know this guy, but how…?

then it finally clicks and they both get so excited because holy shit dude!!!!! it’s been so long!!!! and so they start talking and as their conversation goes on certain things start to come back to richie from their past……. including how he was in love with eddie. and as he’s talking to him now, over ten years later, richie realizes that…. he doesn’t think he ever stopped loving eddie.

he was always too scared to come out and confess his feelings as a kid, but hey, they’re adults now! his sexuality is still something that richie is slowly working on, but he has a quick glimmer of hope, a thought that maybe he and eddie could have a second chance, that maybe if they stayed in touch richie might be able to one day tell eddie how he really feels-

“eddie?”

their conversation is cut off by another voice, and when richie looks away from eddie’s beautiful eyes, he sees a woman approaching them. “who’s this?” she asks, her gaze cold as she looks at richie.

“oh, this is my friend, richie!” eddie explains. “we were best friends when we were kids, back when i lived in maine.” eddie turns to face richie, and when they lock eyes, eddie’s smile fades slightly, the sparkle in his eyes now dull.

“uh, richie- this is myra,” he says, gesturing towards the woman. “my wife.”

richie’s world shatters around him.
