“Brink” returns to 2000AD this week – the sixth book in the ongoing series by Dan Abnett and Ian Culbard. Part of the huge crowd on hand at Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn when Howard Hughes landed his Lockheed 14N Super Electra airplane, July 14, 1938. He flew around the world in a new record of 3 days, 19 hours and 14 minutes, breaking Wiley Post's record.

Paper dolls of my characters Beatrice and Floyd! These will both be featured as bonus content in the book I’m currently (slowly) printing titled Beatrice (wonder who it’s named after, haha). I’m very inspired by mid-20th-century paper dolls that were included in Sunday newspaper comics, particularly the paper dolls from Brenda Starr reporter. What you see here are scans of risograph prints, done with four colors.

No UFC but you’re fiending for some fights? There’s plenty going on! A couple of big boxing cards out the UK and RIZIN.

Joe Joyce vs Joseph Parker is the on the banner but I’m there for Serrano-Mahfoud. Same with Hughes-Galahad and Harper-Rankin. RIZIN’s MMA card features the semis for the atomweight tournament and a Horiguchi fight with is great. And of course, we’re also getting Floyd vs Asakura (really, Nadaka Yoshinari).

BTS of #RWRBMovie: interview room
Neil Floyd via Big Gay Energy:
That's the weird part, no one got that in all of the Twitter that I've seen for the entire film about every detail in the film. I guess because we just kinda made it up, it wasn't part of the book, but we decided the interview room could be an homage to Richard Curtis who wrote all the romantic comedies, you know for the past 20 years. That was our nod to 'Notting Hill', because in 'Notting Hill', Julia Roberts was the American and Hugh Grant was the Brit, and they sort of do the whole interview thing with Horse & Hound. So we actually rented the exact same furniture. The sofa is different, because the one that Julia Roberts was on was a bit smaller, and for the two boys' size, we couldn't fit them on that sofa, so we had a different sofa. But the coffee table, everything – the flower arrangements, they were done by our florist who knew the original florist who did 'Notting Hill'. So we did this whole thing, so that was kinda our fun, cheeky little set because we wanted to see "oh, would anyone get it?" But it was our homage to you know, classic romcoms from our days and now we're doing a gay version so it was great.

Band of Brothers Ages: IRL vs. Actors
Did you know that according to a 1947 study, almost half the men who served in WWII were still under age 26 by the end of the war?
What this is : A (very long) post comparing the ages of the actors in Band of Brothers vs. the IRL figures they are portraying.
Background: Did I need to do this? No. Did anyone ask for this? Also no. Did I do it anyway? Yes.
Disclaimers: This is SUPER approximate for the most part. I based IRL ages off of D-Day unless otherwise noted, and actor ages off of January 1, 2000, the year filming took place (the latter is where the most variation will be because I didn't try to figure out what month filming started). I also didn't fact-check birthdays beyond googling. Most are sourced from the Band of Brothers and Military Wikis on fandom.com, Wikipedia, and IMDb.
I broke them up into rough categories, which are, again, approximate. I know I often forget how young the real life people were here, and this was a good reminder of that. I also found it interesting to see which actors were actually younger than their roles!
Check it all out under the cut ⬇️
