The air smells of smoke. It's barely noticeable, but Cyllene can sense it. The stark stench carries on the evening breeze, and it sends a chill to Cyllene's very bones.

She expects to see one of those damned members in her home, endangering you, killing you once again, but there's no one. No one but you, stomping out the remains of. . . something.

"Cyllene!" You rasp, scooting the whatever-it-is behind you with your foot. "Ah, welcome home! I. . . made dinner?"

You don't sound so sure about it yourself. Cyllene sees why when she glances behind you and sees a plate of burnt. . . Cyllene thinks it might be gyoza?

You wince at her furrowed expression. "Sorry. . . I wanted to make you dinner and I don't have full strength back in my arm." You give a sour look to your right arm, heavily covered in bandages.

Cyllene rasps your name, exasperated and so on edge from all that's happened. "You are still recovering. You shouldn't be trying to lift the pots and pans! I would have made dinner when I returned!"

"But you're exhausted!" You argue, picking at the bandages on your sore, stiff arm. "You work all day then you come back and have to take care of me-!"

"I do not have to." Cyllene snaps at you. You step back, eyes wide as her expression twists with pain. "I want to, because you are injured and in need of help and I want to help you."

You frown, shuffling your feet as your hands clench and unclench by your sides. "But I don't want you to burn out. If you keep doing this, you'll collapse!"

"I am stronger than that." Cyllene grumbles. She doesn't move as you approach her, accepting your lean into her. "You will rest. I will make dinner for us."

You huff. "You should rest too." There's a pause. Cyllene sighs against you, so you nuzzle her shoulder. "It's not your fault."

"I should've accompanied you." Cyllene responds immediately, like she was expecting you to say it. "Protected you from the wild Pokémon, and from the incompetent Security Corp."

You snort. "It wasn't their fault either. Like you, I wanted to help them, protect them. All of. . ." You wave your injured arm a little. "This was an accident."

Cyllene hums. You can tell she's not convinced, not entirely, but you're getting there. She doesn't resist your tugs, moving towards the futon laid out. The two of you settle down, still leaning into one another.

"I will get us something from the Wallflower soon." Cyllene finally says, smiling when you do. "And then I will help you clean up."

"Sounds good!" You chirp, laying down in her lap. Cyllene rolls her eyes, but strokes your head like she knows you want. "I love you."

"I love you too." Cyllene says, far more matter-of-fact than your singsong carol. But as she continues, emotion seeps into her voice. "Thank you for following orders and not. . . dying."

You smile up at her, and press into her legs, a grounding weight. "I wouldn't dare think of disobeying you."

"Good."

it's nice of them to rewind things for battler's sake but uh. erika's a bit of a fucking cunt huh. no love in this game, indeed. we are bringing out peoples worst and making sure battler has as miserable of a time as possible. it's interesting to see that the epitaph is solved before any murder but know that people still die in the end tho.

also love that we're saying kinzo's dead for real, none of this with natsuhi is happening. open your eyes battler, look. nothing's there. really good moment.

battler's been confronting the epitaph in terms of why it exists rather than solving it, and there's definitely been much spoken of miracles, added onto by lambda saying there'd be no point in the riddle if it wasn't hard which would add ammunition for a miracle to happen, though there's still the insistence that beato has nothing to gain from the riddle existing... at least materially. and she doesn't kill for pleasure. so there's the obvious point that she made the epitaph because she wanted to play with someone, specifically battler since he always lives, and battler himself mentioned the play aspect though I dont know how serious he was about that. beato's very obviously just wanted to play with him from the beginning, even though her kidnapping and torturing of him in the first place pretty heavily obscured that. if we accept play as her reason for it existing and doing the murder games, that still leaves the miracle up in the air. does the chance of a miracle occurring not count as a potential material gain? is doing something purposely to try and create a miracle not... a reason for doing it? is the miracle that beato could Actually be revived in some way or is there something else?

Finally getting around to your BG3 OC question! I have 2, but the second is obnoxiously long, so I'll just post it and tag you. Lmao

This is my first Tav, who I had no idea what I was doing with, so she’s a bit of a disaster with a slowly expanding story, but this is Rhian.

She’s a half-elven ranger/rogue who grew up part of a nomadic group out in the deep woods. The band was robin hood-esque once upon a time, but the visionary who collected them died brutally almost a century ago and those remaining have taken a much harsher, more reclusive approach to the world. Rhian was adopted by them as a small child, at the insistence of a woman who was part of the inner circle. This woman did not claim her or ever explain the reason behind her insistence. When she died during Rhian’s early adolescent years, the details died too. By that point, she was useful enough for the rest to keep though, and became a full member of the group, contingent on contribution. The group was kill or be killed. Always with eyes to the trees. Always too many mouths to feed. A very ragtag existence, but one she found a lot of purpose in. Hard as they were, they were family.

One day, as a young adult, she came back from a hunt to find them gone. That wasn’t unheard of - they’d done it before in dire circumstances - but it still came as a shock. Only crucial supplies were taken. In these cases, she knew anyone left behind was considered dead, sacrificed for the safety of the collective. Once she was sure there was no immediate sign of danger, she tried to track them, but with no luck. They were all too skilled at covering their tracks to follow. After weeks, she was eventually forced to give up, wandering her way out and into the vicinity of Baldur’s Gate.

Outside the city, she was able to strike a deal to bounty hunt problematic predators and had barely finished her first contract when the Nautiloid happened. She was completely disoriented *before* the tadpole, so it’s a bit of a wild ride for her.

In general, she’s wary of everything always and prefers to live rough - a tracker / hunter / survivalist type. Despite all that, she also has a very curious disposition and is good at winning people over (things that kept her alive with the gang), so she ends up oddly bonded to everyone in camp. Lae’zel’s bond is especially strong, as they share that brutal efficiency and singular focus, while also being cultural outsiders. That turns into a thing. Leadership is also not Rhian’s thing. She’s just one more wacky member of the crew with an upended life and nowhere better to be.

her backstory also feels very similar to my own ranger/druid who i'm also romancing lae'zel with 😏

JJ!!! 💕💕💕 from what I gathered from fae lore, you're never supposed to tell a fairy your name because then they will have "power" over you, so now that y/n knows Jimin's real name, it takes away his power to "control" her the way he wanted to. Even though they are still linked together because he did save her life and she accepted so many of his gifts, she gains a "freedom" she didn't have before. There is no more haze clouding her judgement, she can straight up refuse Jimin's requests, where as before he could easily persuade and manipulate her...no more world domination for fae Jimin 😂😂 I try to see a happier ending where he now follows her around salty she won't listen to him 😅 now she knows what a trickster fae Jimin is she'll figure out how to deal with him, I have faith in y/n 😉

Everything she went through hurts me 😢 I've never personally had to deal with arranged marriage, but growing up I had friends who were dreading it, when you think about a woman having to marry their abuser or face being disowned by their family, you think something so horrible can't be actually still happening, but it does. All the time it still happens to women...to girls! I know what it feels like to disassociate from a traumatic experience like that...to be married to him...I would rather die. Yes, I was very angry writing this story, I cry when I'm angry (well I cry all the time tbh 😭)
