I’ve seen two iterations of their personalities: Mama being playful and at-her-own-flow like Floyd, Mama being elegant, proper and mysterious like Jade while Papa is a more... controlled version of Floyd (same goofy smile and carefree demeanor, but not as easy to lash out as Floyd)

BUT ABSOLUTELY!!! Imagine Mama Leech approaching them like a sophisticated lady, making such comments that just due to her tone of voice and the look in her eyes have MC blushing and trembling in fear and shyness

The mature woman promptly pushed past her son, taking a gander at the human who was with him. She remained silent, eyes shifting from MC to Sebek, so on and so forth... until...

A proud smile brightened her face, “Ah, my little Crocodile is following along Mama’s path~💕” While her son and husband let out a surprised babble of words at her insinuation.

Malleus’ Grandmother... A figure that has everyone bowing with her mere presence in a room

“Grandmother, this is a very important person I want you to meet.” It was strange of Malleus to be this eager, let alone about someone.

The Queen (she’s the current queen of VoT right? aaa) walked along her grandson, holding onto his arm as he led the way to a... rundown building?

“Ah! Tsunotarou, hello!” A human greeted them. “O-Oh!” They bowed hurriedly at the regal presence that accompanied their friend today. “P-leasure to meet you, your Highness.”

A look of utter surprise crossed her face, “Malleus..! A.. human?!” The tense atmosphere made MC straighten up and nervously look at the fae in front of them. “And that nickname?! Young one, do you know who you are speaking to?!” Anger flashed in her eyes as she addressed MC.

“Yes, they do.” The crown prince stepped in, shielding MC behind him, “And I allow them to use that nickname... After all, fae can’t lend their name, or can we?” She remained on defense, giving her grandson’s friend a disparaging look.

"They were lost, and so was I... Along the way, we found each other. This is a friendship I treasure with all my being, and you have been a very important figure through my life... Would you give them a chance?” He tried to bargain.

The Queen kept her stance, looking at the human, who smiled uncertainly and waved at her. Strangely, she felt no threat coming from them, only warmth, a feeling of being welcomed. Her heart was filled with that warmth for a moment.

Clearing her throat, she relaxed. “Very well, only for you, Malleus... So, who must your friend be?”

“Oh, please, tell me more! I’m delighted to know more about Ace’s childhood from you, Mrs. Trappola, since he seldom talks about it himself.” They looked at Ace with a mocking smile, enjoying hos his mother openly provided such wonderful blackmail material.

The bright ray of sunshine bounded up to MC, with an equally as bright couple behind him. “[Name], [Name]! Come here! I want you to meet my parents!” Kalim took their hand and quickly dragged them over to where his parents were.

“Mom, dad! This is [Name]! They arrived at NRC unexpectedly, but I very much enjoy their presence and companionship!” That toothy grin so characteristic of him found his way on his lips.

MC bowed slightly in greeting. “A pleasure to meet you, Mr. and Mrs. Asim!”

The older couple shared a look before coming up to MC, with the man shaking their hand and the woman pinching their cheek. “Hello there, young one! Kalim seems to be very fond of you! Say, would you mind joining the family? I’m certain Kalim approves!” His father hurriedly spoke.

“H-Huh?! What?!” MC could only accept their coddling and affection as they blushed and looked at their white haired friend for help... But he was busy blushing himself~

Leona is NOT AT ALL happy to have his family visit him in the ONE PLACE where he’s away from them

"Leona-ojitan! [Nickname]!" The little bundle of joy sprinted the pair's way, eliciting a groan from the 3rd year.

"Not that brat again." Leona rubbed his temple.

MC giggled, "C'mon, Cheka isn't that bad! I can take care of him."

"Brother!" Now, that certainly startled MC... Because not only was the exclaimed name all there was, no no, a redheaded lion beastman wrapped his arms around Leona's torso from behind and lifted him some centimeters off the ground. "Long time no see, Leona! Isn't it wonderful that your school's holding a Family Day?! As soon as we got word of it, we came to visit!"

"Fareena... Put. Me. DOWN." Savanaclaw's dorm head growled. Thankfully, the overexcitable man followed through, laughing at his brother's antics.

"[Nickname], can you see how much I've grown since last time! I'm half a centimeter taller!" Cheka giggled as he climbed up MC's leg, ultimately reaching his goal to be carried by them.

"A-Ah, that's wonderful!" They laughed awkwardly at the kid.

The cub was removed from their person by someone. "Apologies, dear, Cheka can be a handful sometimes." A lioness woman smiled gently at you. "Tell them you're sorry, Cheka. You know better than to use people as jungle gyms."

The boy became crestfallen, ears flattening as he fumbled with his fingers. "Sowwy, Mx. [Name], I shouldn't have done that."

MC chuckled a bit. "Apology accepted."

"So you must be this mystery person Cheka rambled about after spectating the Magift tournament." An older woman approached, pinching the child's cheek.

"Yes yes, gramma! [Nickname] played with me when I visited ojitan! They're my other favorite friend here at NRC, they took great care of me!"

At that, both lionesses perked up. Even Fareena approached the circle after his boy spoke so fondly of MC right now.

"Oh, I see~" The younger of the two ladies giggled, accompanied by Fareena's loud laughter.

Leona had a look of utter terror at what was going to be said next. Eyes wide, ears flat, he looked ready to run away from the scene at a moment's notice.

Who they assumed to be Leona's mother approached MC, placing a hand on their shoulder. "A natural ability with kids... Son!" She looked at leona now, who flinched at her call, "I see you've chosen a great mate!"

As MC and Leona were taken into a family hug, they only remained stunned as the words completely registered in their minds.

Oh, I absolutely agree with that!! The atmosphere with Riddle's mother and Jamil's parents will be HELLA TENSE

If anything, I feel MC would potentially get along with Jamil's younger sister, enjoying the friendly banter they have as siblings. But even more so, liking how Jamil shows he cares and how he genuinely smiles while his sister is with him.

I feel she'd also tell him in private:

"So~, that friend of yours..."

Jamil only raised an eyebrow at her words, leading her to sigh, "[Name]! The magicless prefect!"

"Uh-huh, what about them?" The boy inquired, wanting to hear her say it earnestly and not go the "you know what I'm talking about" way.

"Yeah... I think they're pretty cool..." Jamil smiled slightly. "Oh, what's that~? I knew you seemed way too close!" She chuckled after noticing the tiniest change in his expression.

The brunet ruffled her hair, "Nothing, it's nothing at all..."

"Say the one with a lovestruck face!"

Dragon Age Day fic recap!

It’s Dragon Age Day! I don’t have any new fics for you, so I thought I’d present to you instead: my fics so far in this amazing fandom, and what I think of them now! (see more DA fanart over on @chrideart)

Of Rashvine and Embrium

Posted: 31 Aug 2019, one shot Pairing: Solas/F!Lavellan Rating: E Summary: “It’s quiet here. I like it,” he mumbled in her direction with the shadow of a smile twinkling in his eyes as they slowly walked through the pass. She nodded, reluctant to break the silence.Ellana Lavellan and Solas find themselves alone in Ghilan'nain's Grove on a scouting mission after setting up the Fens Camp. The threat of a high dragon forces them to find shelter, stay quiet, and face their feelings. Smut ensues.Set in the Exalted Plains, loosely after the events of Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts, and All New, Faded for Her, mid-relationship. Mostly canon compliant. No late game/DLC spoilers (but some foreshadowing). Physical description of Lavellan kept to a minimum.

What I think of it now: This was my first attempt at writing a fairly explicit sex scene, and my first fanfic in a while. I was fueled by pure solavellan hell UST anguish. Reading it now, I think it’s weird that it’s in past tense, but other than that, it’s pretty cute and holds up fairly well.

First Signs of Snow

Posted: 4 Dec 2020, one shot (Coiling Time tie-in) Pairing: Varric/M!Hawke Rating: T Summary: “Why am I really here, Varric?”

“It was an open invitation. Would’ve been rude not to extend it to you,” Varric replies, full well knowing it’s not what Hawke is asking. Adamant is not really something you get over. “Wine, cards, nostalgia and bashing on Anders. Get you your signed copy of Tale of the Champion.”

Hawke laughs.

Hawke visits Skyhold after his journey to Weisshaupt, because there's nothing like repeated near-death experiences to make a man speak the unspoken.

Set in the autumn after the events of DA:I. No DLC spoilers and minimal DA2 spoilers.

What I think of it now: I landed into Hawke/Varric through seeing one piece of excellent fan art, and went down the deep end immediately. Since I was in love with these idiots and their repressed feelings, First Signs of Snow ended up as probably the most romantic hurt/comfort/fluff I’ve ever written. Maybe that I’ll ever be able to write.

There are two things I’m not feeling 100% on. Firstly, I kept the fic rated T with a fade to black, since I didn’t feel comfortable writing an MLM sex scene -- I don’t have personal experience, and I didn’t have the time to do the proper research. The second thing is, I don’t think I got Hawke’s voice down, so he sounds a bit more like a snarky Trevelyan. But overall, I absolutely love this fic to bits and want to continue with these two at some point.

The Inquisitor's Desk

All those long nights out in the field have paid off. Despite his efforts to keep up a mask of propriety at all times, Lavellan has learnt how to read the subtle signs the man can’t seem to control, and his expression is worth the risk of embarrassment. Right now, she sees the tension at the corners of his mouth, the flare of his nostrils, the widening pupils of his luminous light eyes. There’s a moment of hesitation, an attempt at that futile propriety, fighting against thinly veiled desire. Lavellan raises a finger to his lips to shush the reply forming.

“Fuck me against my desk, Solas,” she whispers.

Inquisitor Lavellan invites Solas into her quarters for a little stress release. Shameless smut without feelings ensues.

What I think of it now:

Ooooh boy, if I remember correctly, I wrote this one as I had finished all the smut for Coiling Time, but it was still a long time before I’d post it, and I felt an urge to write some more. Okay, I might also have been out of good one shots to read and wanted to write something steamy.

It’s rather formulaic and porn without plot compared to my other one shots, but, I do like it and the actual smut works pretty well. There’s just enough context to keep it anchored, but not too much to keep the reader from inserting their own Lavellan.

Lavellan climbs in Sera's window at the Herald's Rest armed with a vague plan to wind down from a stressful day through going down on Sera. Absolutely shameless smut ensues.

Canon adjacent, spoiler free, mid-relationship.

What I think of it now:

Reading this one, I feel as if I cut it short, somehow. I remember, when writing it, that I felt a bit shy going into too much detail. Still, this was pretty much my first time writing WLW smut (I’ve written sapphic romance before though), and I had a good time with this one, albeit a short time.

Coiling Time, or, Thedosian Pottery

Summary:

Coiling Time aka. the Thedosian Pottery fic

"Just that feeling when you’re about to go but then you’ve forgotten this particular data strand and the continuity just barely lets you pass through deflux... You know, like every molecule in your body is screaming in frustration at you over being reassembled just a little off. Oh fuck,” a wave of nausea and pain passes through me, and I accept a hot metal cup of liquid with shaking hands and a grateful sigh. “Thank you. I really must have miscalced some… something, something bad this time. Was it a timecode thing? Two days, you said?”

The man hums, as if in agreement.

“Well, there goes my plan to document hand-building techniques and drip glazes for a few months in the nineteen-seventies... Oh, this tastes nice and herb-y. Is that mint? And... Fennel seed?”

“Elfroot, mostly,” the man says, and I nod, leaning back.

Following what appears to be a mishap with her calendarium, time travelling 22nd century researcher Malika finds herself in Thedas during the Inquisition. Staying undercover proves hard however, despite your training, when you've caught the interest of a certain stoic elven mage... Also, pottery? Complete!

What I think of it now:

It’s a little early to say. The reception on this fic has been insanely lovely, but, I am also proud of myself not only for finishing this fic but also for facing its challenges head on. And trust me, there were plenty! I suspect a few plot bunnies and plot holes remain, and there’s probably scenes that could have been edited out, but overall, it’s quite solid and I love it - I hope you will, as well. More than one of my wonderfully kind readers immediately started rereading this slow burn from the start, so I’m starting to suspect it is actually better than I’d given myself credit for.

To be warned, I don't read as much as I used to BUT I have started getting back into it since this past year.

For starters my favorite types of books and genres are adult and contemporary dealing with family dynamics. I love books about families and either how messed up stuff is and working it out or healing from it. When I say adult I mean just dealing with older characters as opposed to teenagers which young adult is abundant with. Other genres I like are high fantasy with like kingdoms and magic colleges and stuff. Its all bc of elder scrolls I guess🙄 I'm obsessed with like, ''''organizations'''' and how each person fits into its place and how characters work together in different ways. Waaahh😭😭😭 also a fan of coming of age but in a specific way I don't know how to describe. Its like, you're growing up and seeing things the way they really happened and you understand now. Its like everything is different but its still the same.

My favorite book is Along for the Ride by Sarah Dessen. I don't like mentioning it that much bc she has a sort of "reputation" for ya formulaic cishet books and yea I agree (sort of) but its the first book from her I read and therefore it was new to me. Its getting a Netflix film and its in post production rn (I'm keeping up with it on instagram by following the actors and director). Its about a girl named Auden, its the summer before college and she stays with her dad and his new family in a beach town for the summer and she meets this guy called Eli and bc they both dont sleep at night and she's never done a lot of stuff kids have done so he decides to help her experience her life for the first time. I'm obsessed with this book, Auden and Eli both have like traumas and stuff in their past that theyre both dealing with and it feels realistic to me on how their relationship evolves as opposed to just falling in love suddenly. The story isn't quite a romance as the description and everyone says. Theres a love interest but the story deals more heavily with Auden's family as her mom is super condescending and judgemental and her dad barely cares about her. Literally almost all scenes with Audens mom have me like:

Its just my favorite book ive drawn fanart for it before and even recently its that I just haven't posted it for no reason probably bc I'm insane. My audio tag is the shortened form "aud" as a reference to her actually lol. I definitely think of Auden as a comfort character and I see a lot of myself in her.

Another book I loved was "We Were Liars" by E. Lockhart. This is a 'tiktok phenomenon' apparently lmao. Its about a girl called Cadence and two summers ago she was in an accident on her grandfathers ISLAND where her family spends the summer every year and now two years later she doesn't remember what even happened to her and everybody refuses to speak about it. Cadence spends the summer with her cousins and friend and she slowly starts remembering what happened that summer. I thought the twist was awesome and spine-chilling and I'm obsessed with the fact that the author made like, a family tree and a map for the island. I thought that was so cool bc samesies I do the same with my characters. Based on reviews for this book, it really is a hit or miss depending on the person. So many ppl hate this book bc of the twist and find the story stupid bc its about rich white ppl going through stuff but like 😔👉👈 I still like it....

Some more books I love are "Waiting for Normal" by Leslie Conner and "This One Summer" by Mariko and Jillian Tamaki (graphic novel) and "Flipped" by Wendelin Van Draanen all which also follow a similar theme in family stuff and include summer in some way. I also love graphic novels, 'this one summer' is definitely my fave one. Flipped is my best example of coming of age that I love and it has a film adaption I adore as well and has become a comfort movie.

Rn im reading Lost Gods by Brom, its pretty heavy and long and im just at the beginning so I don't know if I like it yet but I like the way the author writes so far.

So far we have like dysfunctional family, summer setting, trauma, and healing from the past as major things I enjoyed in these stories.😔

I dont have a goodreads or another book website I just put book links saved to my bookmarks and make lists in a binder about which books seem interesting. I was thinking of making an account but probably not on goodreads as I wanna move away from Amazon stuff but idk yet where. I used to have shelfari before it got discontinued/merged to goodreads back in middle school but I don't really remember if that's still active or not or what books I even had there. When I make an account I will let you know about it :D

So disclaimer again I do read and watch and play almost anything and I'm not always the best judge of stuff, sometimes I like things that are bad or poorly executed so idk if you'd end up enjoying the same things in the same way I do waaah😭.

Happy post-Valentine everyone! Our cupid Chelsea is here to introduce our first event: Tales of Rarepairs Exchange!

It is a fanfic & fanart gift exchange event, similar to a Secret Santa exchange, and will focus on the less popular ships. This time, however, sign-ups will be held exclusively on AO3 to take advantage of AO3’s matching function. This system might be unfamiliar to those who are not used to fandom exchanges, so we will walk you through each of the steps. See below for more details.

You will need to have an AO3 account in order to participate, so if you don’t have one yet, register now! AO3 accounts are useful even if you don’t write fics: artists can post their art there as well, and having a proper account enables readers to bookmark, subscribe, and keep track of the stories they read. To register on AO3, please add yourself to the invite queue.

The event will take place in five main phases:

nominations (1-14 March)

sign-ups (15-30 March)

assignments (1st week of April)

posting (2 May)

reveals (9 May)

Below is a short explanation for each phase. For longer, more detailed explanations, see our F.A.Q. on AO3.

Detailed steps of how to achieve each phase will also be posted at the beginning of it.

♥ Nominations (1-14 March)

Before sign-ups start, we will make a list of fandoms and ships that participants will offer and request. Only nominated ships will be able to be selected, so please make sure not to miss this step if you intend to participate. Note that nominating is not binding; you are free to nominate some ships but then decide against participating. It is also a good way to gauge interest and see what other people are likely to request or offer. A detailed nomination guide will be posted on the first day of nominations (1 March).

♥ Sign-ups (15-30 March)

As mentioned above, an AO3 account is necessary to sign up, so if you don’t have one yet, you should register now. When signing up, you will be asked to list your requests and offers. You will be allowed up to 5 requests (1 required) and up to 8 offers (2 required). A detailed sign-up guide will be posted on the first day of sign-ups (15 March).

If there is a problem with your sign-up, you will be contacted by the mods, so make sure to check the e-mail address linked to your account regularly.

♥ Assignments (1st week of April)

Once everybody who signed up is matched, you will receive your assignment. You will then have until May to produce fanwork according to the wishes of your giftee.

The minimum requirements are 1,000 words for fanfiction, and a finished piece of clear lineart for fanart (if traditional, make sure you have a good way to scan).

If there is any problem with your assignment, please contact the mods quickly.

♥ Posting (2 May)

All works must be posted by 2 May. Your work will be inaccessible by others until the reveal phase, so you will still be able to make some edits before then. We ask that you refrain from cross-posting to other sites and social media until after the final reveals.

We will do a check-in on 25 April, where we will ask you if you will be able to meet the deadline. Extensions can be requested up until the posting deadline. If you wish to drop out, please contact the mods as soon as possible so your assignment can be reassigned.

Be advised that if you do not complete your assignment without either a) requesting an extension or b) officially defaulting by the due date (2 May), you will be banned from next year’s event.

A detailed posting guide will be posted on the check-in day (25 April).

♥ Reveals (9 May)

Works will be hidden until 9 May, to allow some leeway for extensions and pinch hitters. On 9 May, they will be revealed, and you may then start cross-posting to social media.

Note: since the definition of "rarepair" can vary from fandom to fandom, after analyzing a few other similar exchanges, we have decided to go with the following formula: are eligible ships whose tag on AO3 amount to less than 10% of the total fanwork in their fandom's tag.
