Joe Biden is SMOKIN'! VOTE BLUE The SOTU Speech was AMAZING in breadth and consideration. Meat was on those bones! Please GOOD People,... VOTE BLUE in 2024! Help boost - us all - into the Future! I am voting for Joe. I am going to fight for Joe, and I ask each of you, to stand with Joe, and his vision of a better world. This life is worth the living. There is beauty, wonder, and hope, wherever you set your eye. Why, in our short spans, must we focus such time and energy - on making bombs, bullets, and tears? We should be focusing on dancing shoes, guitars, and making - meals - to share - with friends and neighbors, knitting closer - more supportive - communities. Only the living - can work to make this world a better place. While We live and breathe,... let's focus on making smiles, gardens, and dreams, blossom and grow. NYAB says,... VOTE for Women's Choice 'to bear and to carry'. VOTE for Voting Rights security! VOTE for Safety in the schools and on the streets. VOTE for Environmental protections! VOTE for those to come after. VOTE for Working to find answers to problems. VOTE for a guy willing to work - more than - to cheat at golf. The answer is simple,... We need Joe - and Joe needs U.S! Semper fi!

Because I feel like screaming into the void that is this hellsite today ....
I keep seeing commentary here and elsewhere from leftists, usually young leftists. They blame Biden for what Israel is doing to Gaza. They say they won't vote for Biden because he won't stop what Israel is doing to Gaza. They scream about how Biden is a fascist because he's willing to send money to Israel, while Israel is killing civilians in Gaza.
Let's get the obvious out of the way. What Israel is doing in Gaza is horrific, inhuman, and I have no doubt constitutes war crimes on a massive scale.
Now, go ahead, tell me. How is the U.S. supposed to get Israel to stop?
They're a sovereign country. Why the hell would they do what we tell them to?
They have a hard-right Prime Minister who needs to keep his job in order to avoid going to jail. He's basically their version of Trump. You think Trump would have listened to another country telling him not to do something?
Sure, we can cut off aid. Then what? Israel wants U.S. money, but it doesn't NEED it. It can survive without it, and it can survive without the U.S. as an ally - it's spent the last 80 years making sure of that. And if we stop selling them weapons, I can think of a couple countries willing to step up and sell them whatever they want. Biden has been putting conditions on proposed aid and U.S. arms sales to Israel for pretty much the first time in history. He's been putting the screws to Netenyahu's government in almost every diplomatic avenue possible. Also, that proposed aid package for Israel? A BIG reason that Israel money was even in there was to try and get Republicans on board with the *other*, larger parts of the aid package - like the aid to Ukraine and to Taiwan.
Now you may disagree with how he's doing this, or think Biden should just take the U.S. ball (aid) and go home. Then what? You think that actually solves anything? You think that helps the Palestinians in Gaza? You think Israel's actually going to stop? Or do you just want him to do it because it makes you feel better and then you can stop thinking about it? Serious question here. People want Biden to stop Israel. Tell me how. If you actually want to understand what's going on and what the solutions might really be, this is a good place to start: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oOFdG87ZJgE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yvKMbZGbH7U&list=PLKG4P0uu-XSej2c3SALLEXyxT-j7YwCJ5&index=11&pp=iAQB

Some of you really need to drop the “incremental change is worthless” shit and start appreciating the sacrifices of the activists who spent hundreds of years making the incremental changes that made this country livable for people who aren’t straight white Christian men.
I’ve seen a lot of posts about how “well Democrats could have prevented this but didn’t, so they’re just as bad as Republicans and voting is worthless”, and those posts do a massive disservice to all the people who have been fucking trying. Almost every issue I’ve seen people complain about Democrats not preventing, there’s a bill that would’ve fixed it that got stalled by Republicans in the House or Senate. Democrats tried to pass abortion protection just last month but Republicans in the Senate blocked it. Acting like Democrats totally have the power to fix everything and just aren’t doing it is not only blatantly untrue, but it’s massively damaging and spreads a message of helplessness and despair. That’s the last fucking thing we need right now!
You know why evangelicals have so much power despite being a minority of the population? Because they show up. They’re a dedicated, consistent voting block who show up to EVERY election, every town hall meeting, and every PTA meeting, vocally and en masse. And it took them 50 years, but now we’re seeing the results of all that grassroots organizing.
So yeah. There’s not going to be a revolution that just magically fixes every problem with this country. There IS going to be a huge number of people who wake up every day determined to make tiny changes - to their town, their community, their schools, their libraries - and they’re going to do that every day for 50 years, and if there’s enough of them, we’ll get there. It’s slow and it sucks and it’s not glamorous or exciting, but it’s how progress is made. So get off your high horse and join us, and maybe we can get there a little faster.

It’s the midterms.  Which means I’m gonna be a fucking mess all day.
Before I head off to work, here’s some Red Riot belly, nice and stuffed (thank you, Blender) to urge those who live in America to vote today and keep these fucking homophobic / transphobic / womanphobic / decent human being-phobic, right wing fascist monsters from gaining any more power than they already have.

not going to reblog the post that prompted this because long and blah blah who cares but not voting in elections is the ultimate betrayal of the tireless activists throughout long ages of history who gave their fucking LIVES to allow you to freely vote in democratic elections and if you HAVE the hard-won right to vote and you don't exercise it through your own free choice and not because you have been blocked from doing it for some reason you should feel ashamed. you should feel bad. and if you HAVE been blocked from doing it you should RAISE HELL.
vote. I don't even care what you vote for tbh. I mean I guess I do on a personal level but that's NOT the point of this post. CAST YOUR FUCKING VOTE ON EVERY BALLOT YOU ARE ELIGIBLE TO VOTE IN. DO IT. EVEN IF I HATE YOU PERSONALLY FUCKING VOTE!!

It's election year in both the US and the UK, and that means I am once again banging two saucepans together and yelling at people to vote.
(This is mainly going out to the Americans. The ol' voter suppression tactic isn't working so hot over here when we're on our fourth unelected Tory on the trot, they're all utterly awful, and the opportunity to choose our PM is quite novel)
The heroic socialist revolution that burns down the government and establishes the Glorious Left-Wing Utopia isn't coming. It doesn't exist. I'm sorry, I know it sucks that we have to participate in democracy and capitalism and all those other imperfect systems but the alternative isn't ever going to happen. It's not real.
The perfect candidate isn't ever going to show up, and if they did, they wouldn't win a primary. But you don't get to sell everyone else out just because you didn't like the choices on offer. The last guy has already made things so much worse because you people didn't fucking listen when you were told that the Supreme Court was on the line in 2016. And now look at where you are.
And I know Gaza is the hot-button issue for some of you right now, and do you honestly think letting the Republicans take over again is actually going to improve the situation? The people who would look at the amount of dead kids and call them rookie numbers? The people who rabidly support the Israeli government because they think doing so will get them the rapture they crave? The people who increased the amount of drone strikes in the Middle East when they were in charge, started dropping massive ordnance bombs on people, those guys?
They will make it worse. They already want to make it worse. Will you feel good about sticking it to 'Genocide Joe' when Donald accelerates things, because he fucking will.
Politics is like a tug of war, except it's been going on since before you were born and it'll keep going after you're dead. Once you're old enough to be considered politically responsible, you're involved whether you like it or not, and you've got to constantly drag that rope toward your side for the rest of your life. The other side are going to keep pulling like their lives depend on it, because the right-wing media has told them that their lives do depend on it. And you might be privileged enough to take your hands off the rope and stop pulling for a bit, but if you do, the people who don't have that privilege are going to get dragged into the mud.
There's not going to be a revolution. The guys on the other side tried doing an insurrection already and it didn't work, and they're the crazy assholes with the guns.

Really curious to know if the hardcore anti-voting leftist crew would be upset if their demographic's right to vote was stripped away. Would your vote matter then? If it doesn't matter at all, why do you care?
(I have the feeling they'd lose their shit if, for example, only white land-owning males were legally allowed to vote.)
(*I am not talking about people upset at those who present voting as sufficient or as a replacement for other forms of advocacy; I am specifically talking about those encouraging folks not to vote or who are mad at the people begging them to vote at all, period.)

'That administration, she (Harris) said, has meant access to high-speed internet for rural communities, lead-free water, investments in historically Black colleges and universities, the expansion of Medicaid coverage for postpartum care, and more Black women judges appointed than under any other administration in history, “including the first Black woman to ever sit on the highest court in…our land.” “Elections matter; leadership matters; and it makes a difference in the lives of people who, for the most part, many of us may never meet, who, for the most part, may never know our names.”'
Democracy, Harris said, “is extremely strong in terms of what it does and the strength that it gives its people in the protection and preservation of individual rights, freedoms, and liberty.  Incredibly strong…. And it is, on the other hand, extremely fragile. It is only as strong as our willingness to fight for it.” ' Despite Congress being almost completely dysfunctional, Biden is still getting shit done, and I am really annoyed that the media would rather talk about Trump's Drama of the Day (tm) rather than the very real good things Biden has accomplished.

So, if you don’t know (or somehow been sleeping under a rock), the Midterms has been happening in the United States. Some losses were expected, Some victories were won, all in all, could’ve been a lot worse.
BUT! The most unexpected race to happen as of this moment is this:
Tumblr media
Do you know how FUCKING CLOSE that is?! It’s by 64 votes!!!! This race is going to be decided by 64 votes!!!! Is there going to be a recount?! Possibly! But this is so fucking intense!
So when people say they don’t vote because they think it doesn’t matter, they are lying to themselves!!!!!! YOUR VOTE FUCKING MATTERS!!!!!!
