Your weekly serving of dotEXE is here and the boys got Disney on the brain this week! We talk a little about Saints Row, the TMNT Cowabunga Collection, Starcraft Remastered: Cartooned, and a little introductory thoughts on Disney Dreamlight Valley! Eric even goes into a little bit of some time using Paint 3D while they both reminisce on their Gamefly history.
This week’s topic: The Wonderful…
once upon a time there was this thing called netflix and it was this neat little service that you would look at online and it would allow you to rent dvds any time u wanted for like 5 bucks a month and would ship them to ur house for your entire family to enjoy
My PS2 one of the cords in the components was corroded so i hope it still works :( if not PS2's on ebay arent too crazy. I know i have all three on my switch but like...playing on the actual PS2 is great lol
I can't test it right now but ill test it later
If i need to replace the cord great but if the actual part in the PS2 is broken that will SUCK
I’ve always assumed that “unlimited bacon but no games, or games, unlimited games, but no games” was like a gamefly type situation. You have unlimited games but you do not own them and have to return them so really you have no games.
Out of curiosity, how long did it take for you to 'click' with Dragon Quest XI? I've bounced off it a couple times over the years, but I think I finally am over the hump. (Just met Sylvando & did some horse racing, for ref.) Made me wonder if it took other people a bit to fully vibe with the game
It took exactly two tries, one of them way back in like 2018 or something where I rented the game from GameFly, turned it on, ran around for like 2 seconds before realizing it was about to be a very traditional JRPG and at the time I was not down for that so I shut it off. This "attempt" I mention only because it's funny and not because I think I was being reasonable in hindsight or even because I consider it a real try, I REALLY did not give it even more than a minute of consideration haha. It was so unfair but I was just That Bitch.
Cut to Years Later, August of 2022, I had been playing and really getting back into Yakuza 7 on stream but I ran into a dilemma where I wanted to play it ALL THE TIME, but I couldn't because I ran out of stuff to do off-stream that wouldn't progress a story or gameplay thing that I'd wanna share with people. So I was like "well damn, maybe I can fill the void with another JRPG along the same lines", and of course Dragon Quest is specifically name-dropped a ton of times during Y7 so that was my first thought. I went in thinking "From what I understand, this should be similar to Yakuza and scratch that itch!" and what I found was an incredible game that was really not very similar to Y7 at ALL and scratched an ENTIRELY DIFFERENT itch that I didn't even know I had. Rest is history :)
Edit: I guess I should also specify that I REALLY clicked with the game almost immediately on my second try. I don't even know why, I guess I just got lucky in that regard cause even for many of the RPGs I've tried since DQ11 it's taken a bit for a gameplay loop to settle. Not Dragon Quest though, that shit had me hooked from the jump the moment I was actually looking for it.
I’m really happy that you enjoy my posts. I love Skyrim. I have since February 2012 (according to my old gamefly account lol) My goal for this page is to get more people to play Skyrim. It really came at a low point in my life and it was really the only thing that made me happy. So please share any Skyrim content everywhere so potentially more people will play it and give them that feeling I got playing Skyrim for the first time.
