I could carry on working on this piece forever but I fear I may carve away the spirit of the piece so I’ve decided to call it finished. I’ve also settled on the name ‘Chrysalis’ to reflect on struggle being a step on the path to change and to freedom. Decals, how do I do them? Well using this commission from a few years back to explain, there's a few simple steps I take... First, I create the decals I need on the laptop, cropping images and using shapes to make up the things I can't locate, sometimes some proper detective work is needed.. Next I print them onto either white backed decal paper or transparent, depending on the colour backing that the decals going onto... Then I have to seal them with 3 coats of matt clear varnish, these are 15 minutes apart... Then it's time to cut them out and then soak in water for a couple of seconds before applying... A little preview of a new spoon carving that I’ve been working on. I actually started carving this Kingfisher spoon at the end of last year and and it is taking forever to carve. The concept and design of the piece is based on some beautiful blue spalting that I found within this piece of Silver Birch wood though that’s almost disappeared whilst I’ve been carving it. The Work I love to do: To many of you that have followed me for some time, you'll know my main focus is making miniatures of places and capturing them in time in order to preserve memories but for any new followers to which I welcome you, I stretch into capturing moments in Motorsport, mainly Rally to date. This a selection of some of the pieces I have been commissioned to make so far and it's safe to say I absolutely love doing these pieces. I use photo references of a real moment and recreate it in 3D. I currently have a wide selection of rally cars waiting to be captured in a moment and you could own that moment too. If there is a car that you love or you know someone that would love an epic scene as a gift, I'm pretty sure I'll be able to recreate it for you...
