Do you think Havers ever returned to Button House after Cap died? Do you think he returned to the room where they held hands one last time? Or do you think he visits Cap's grave? Leaves flowers when nobody's looking? Kisses his fingers and trails over the name "James", etched into stone like it's etched on his heart? Did he think of Cap when he was old and grey, wondering if he'd be waiting on the other side for him when everything faded?

BBC Ghost Spoilers below.
How come I haven't seen anyone talk about this.
Havers has facial scars in Carpe Diem.
They did makeup work on the actor to give him facial scars and we get no context for what happened. It just adds to the tragedy of the scene and Cap and Havers' relationship.
I've seen some posts where people trying to blow off the notion that Cap went to Button House specifically to find Havers.
Look, I'm not a shipper of any sort, but I feel like Cap would not have made such a decision to crash this party just to do it. He doesn't seem the type. And Ben Willbond doesn't seem the type to write something as serious as stolen valor as a plot device into a scene without having a very good reason.
If you ask me, it's very obvious Cap was looking for someone when he went in there. He went there with a purpose, which means he wasn't planning on being there long. And as for Havers had feelings for Cap, does it matter? The point was two men shared a bond. They met each other where they were, even at the end. Whether it was romantic or platonic, does it matter? It was still heartbreaking.
I feel like making it sound like Cap just went to Button House because he wanted to go to the celebration and believed he was entitled to be there doesn't fit Cap's characterization. I think it's bad writing too. So no, that can't be it.

I just re watched Redding Weddy and honestly, hats off to the man who played Havers. Like he appears 3 times at most on the episode, smiles, steals everyone's hearts and then fucks off into the distance. What a legend. Absolute Chad. A true Lad
