Oh boy I finally listened to tmagp ep 14 and I too forgot about the hole. my biggest takeaways are,”cool, snakes” and “😢”. This person’s dad being the focus of an episode is going on my bingo card based on when I listened to TMA and decided sturdy lock probably wasn’t that important AND THEN HIS SON HAS A STATEMENT A HUNDRED EPISODES LATER

continuing through the KH series with three veterans of the series and one completely new guy who is going into everything blind, yesterday the new guy thought that larxene was an older namine based on the cutscene where she threatens to crush namine's charm. which is a VERY funny thing to confuse and did not cross the rest of our minds as a possible misunderstanding
cue all three of us in call being like "no no no no no. she's gaslighting sora and it's working on you too." we cannot wait to see what happens when the new guy has to grapple with the difference between roxas and ventus
oh and we also have the perfect screenshot because i have never played re:com before (i played com when i was a kid) and so we had to scramble for it

not to be "that guy" but holy fuck I refuse to use literally any program with proprietary file types again. Basically the only thing that was left in my workflow that wasn't markdown/json based was powerpoint but I finally learned how to use obsidian slides and fuck it's good. If I can't interact with a programs files purely through the terminal if required, I don't want to use it.

never assume any of my posts are about Haz/bin hotel. I refuse to have anything of mine associated with that shit show. The ship discourse has been around way before it was even a thought and aroace and aroace coded characters have existed before it and will exist after it. This isn't new. this isn't a haz/bin exclusive problem. Do not assume that everyone who is in this conversation is talking about that show.

Oo okay so, yeah these book covers are fucking boring but there's probably a reason they all look the same
Source
If you go into the romance section of your local library you're almost certainly going to see a big wall of books that are very similar, usually a black/red spine, and the cover will usually have an image styled after classic romantic oil paintings. This (usually) isn't laziness, it's just such a well established trope of the genre that romance readers started to expect it, and in the pre internet days it made finding romance novels easier. I'd hazard a guess that these pastel corporate canva art covers have become a trope for romance books that millennials and gen z are engaging with (most likely due to this style being easy to make and use on sites like Wattpad and being cheap to commission for self/small publishers, in addition to the usual style being considered cringe [see the ticktoks caption]) and now everyone just does it because people kinda expect it.
Go into your local library and you can start to pick up on these cover tropes for most genres. It's a shame that the style kinda sucks ass but I assure you it's not entirely indicative of the writing.
