Valorant Agents and their Comic Books (Headcanons)
A buncha headcanons and comics based on this one illustration.  I wanna make it clear that these are the ALPHA AGENTS’ books.  I got something else planned for the other comics from Omega.  Below is the summary on the back of each imagined book and the headcanons below.  Enjoy!
Tumblr media
(Comic Title ->, Back of Comic Summary ->, Headcanons)
Solar Strike: Series X
A young teen, Sol, struggles to control their powers, generated from the ancient evil called the Demonheart, while fighting against evil forces that threaten their world.  Their team of friends battle against aliens using Chi powers learned from a ninja master’s scroll.  The Demonheart threatens to overtake Sol, can they stave it off and prevent it from costing them their friends?  Find out what happens next in this new chapter!
Let’s be clear, this is what Neon is reading in the illustration and yeah it’s probably her fav
She likes the fights and the protag, she kinda relates to it now more because of the whole controlling powers subtext
Neon’s definitely a fan and loves the flashy action and inner turmoil the character has bearing a lot of unstable powers
Her, Jett, Phoenix, Yoru, and Gekko have watch parties for the anime adaptation.  They also lowkey want to cosplay at a con when given the opportunity
During training, Neon called some duelists over and did the famous Kami Blast move using her lighting as a joke
It was pretty funny but Reyna walked in and commented on how effective it was, not hearing Neon beforehand
That’s how Neon started using the finger gun to aim her powers
The series has been going nearly forever, and is peak shonen in terms of being milked by the publishers but it still maintains a strong fanbase
Sova used to read them at his babushka’s when he was a little, and was confused when he saw that it had continued for 10+ years.  He’s so behind he isn’t even gonna try to pick it back up
Astra likes the comic too, mostly because of the cosmic level threats are so laughable to her but also because she likes how fun it is and maybe relatable because of her own responsibility
Ribbon
Private middle schools are prestigious, but the Blue Ribbon Boarding School is the most high class of all.  Anya is a delinquent who won a lottery to go, but has no manners or aspirations.  Still, she goes to the school to dominate the sports and because she may be developing a slight crush on almost all of the students.
Jett reads this religiously, and debates with Neon over if it’s better than Neon’s fav
Anya’s take no shit attitude and general punk nature is something Jett got into as a teen which helped to be more assertive
The MC being bisexual was pretty much what made Jett realize her own sexuality, but for the longest time she thought she was just really into the character’s story
The drama is for sure complex, and Jett, Neon, Raze, Killjoy, and for some reason Sage will speculate on who will get with who
Recapping all of the relationship tension as well as the results of sports events or festivals is like a never ending net of betrayals and broken hearts
Reading is guaranteed to result in gasps of surprise, and the author is great at making twists and turns to keep readers engaged
Reyna will occasionally borrow a copy from Jett to read to Lucia
Compound Fracture
A man with an incredible debt is forced into fights against other indebted people in underground fights.  Bloody combat against a bracket of trained killers and martial artists is inevitable, but each kill is a step closer to freedom.  Will he die in debt or survive and become the world’s most dangerous man?
Yoru loves this manga, mostly because he likes to see how brutal the fights can get and the Yakuza stuff inside it
It may also have something to do with the fact that the artist is also from his province too and because he gets them in the original Japanese
Sova and Sage also got a little into it, mostly because Sage likes that real martial arts terms are incorporates and Sova just likes the story
A copy somehow made its way to Breach and he got pretty into it, mostly because he liked how it really went crazy with the violence and how it was about getting free of restrictions
Jorgio’s Strangest Battles (On Part 19, Land of Luck)
A family with ties to an ancient power fights for humanity against hordes of clever villains using wits and supernatural beings summoned from their fighting spirit.  Each member has a journey that pits them against pure evil, but their resolve to bring justice to the wicked is unbreakable.  This week, the crew in Hawaii faces off against an onslaught of mythical felines attempting to steal a precious piece of lava rock!  TO BE CONTINUED!
Breach loves this manga, as does Harbor and Skye.  Buff people like this series because of the art and poses are *fabulously majestic*
The three will strike a pose from time to time or reference a line, the references are a little much but usually result in a small laugh
Breach once pointed out that Deadlock’s wire was similar to a protag’s (from the 6th part) and she had no idea what he meant
Then she read up on it and completely agrees
Chamber also likes it because of the references to classic Western art and the high fashion design.  Pure fabulosity
Each fight is absolute rollercoaster of back and forth outsmarting, but for whatever reason Deadlock can guess the next move
Hearts in the Heat of Battle
The nations of Nauz and Phrena war with each other, each using armies and mages to destroy each other.  Unbeknownst to the feuding states, their generals have met at a masquerade dance and fallen for each other.   If lovers continue, they may be executed but it may be the only chance for love they have. Love may make things complicated, but it may be the only route to peace.
Killjoy and Phoenix follow this one pretty closely, and is common ground for each of them.  The theatre kid loves the dramatic stuff and the nerd likes the fantasy (and romance between two gals)
Cypher has a few copies stored at an old safehouse near Rabat, he still likes to hear about the series doing well
It was his daughter’s favorite
Jett loves the series and is beyond invested at this point, but supports the exact opposite ships as Killjoy and they have very serious debates over this
Reyna loathes this series, mostly because ‘Estas chicas necesitan besar y seguir sus vidas’  She’s in support of the main relationship but not the delay in getting there
Horrorscope
Written by talented author Stephanie Queen and illustrated by a randomly selected artist, Horrorscope is a monthly anthology of stories that chill to the bone.  Beware reader, for the contents within will leave you changed and for some, twisted.  Enjoy what lurks in the dark…
Reyna reads through it from time to time if she’s bored, same with Viper.  Viper likes Queen’s writing and has bookshelf at home full of Queen’s novels.
Fade will look one over when she can, but mostly because horror is kind of her territory and she likes the art
Astra follows it from time to time and loves the more messed up stories that have really campy horror tropes.  She enjoys how over the top some of them go but Harbor cannot do horror at all
Omen tried to get into them but just found them entertaining rather than scary, the man’s a living shadow of a man so horror doesn’t work as well on him
Deadlock has read a few and it was one of the few times her ‘unshakable’ nature was actually tested a bit. It got to her
Stargunner Crosshair
A bounty hunter and a criminal with a massive bounty on them have to team up to avoid the criminal having their bounty claimed by a mob boss.  Set in a space-faring world, the duo have to navigate other bounty hunters, hitmen, and wild planets.  The greatest danger?  The two are beginning to enjoy each other’s company!
All the younger agents love this series
Fade tried to get into it because Phoenix thought ‘hey bounty hunter, here’s a story about your job’ and she gave it a try
The next day she told him that it wasn’t for her and that she’ll probably stick to reading from her bookshelf
Neon got into it though, and it didn’t help that the bounty hunter character looks like Fade but a little older and with a futuristic gun
Most of the older agents don’t mind it too much and glance over the pages if someone nearby is reading it
Neon got bored one day and styled her hair like the criminal protag and Fade caught her doing it
She decided to stay and help and the two talked about the comic for a while
Fade still denies she reads it, but in her room there is a number of those comics on her bookshelf that she exclusively lends to Neon
They’re both fans, and read it together and is one of Fade's secrets now
Titanic Drop
A crew of soldiers in giant mechs try to get home after being stranded far behind enemy lines in a deadly solar system.  Fighting giant space beasts called Leviathans, other hostile Mechas, and weathering deadly planets is their only way out.  Return or die, these mech pilots won’t stop until they destroy every obstacle in their way.
Killjoy loves this and has loved it since she was a kid.  It may have helped inspire a few of the early designs she made
She tried to convince Kayo to allow a few modifications based on the comic, mainly the Mega Sword thing that she wanted to emulate by extending his ZERO//point  knife
It was a no, but Kayo will scan through the comic just to see what KJ is planning to ask next
Brimstone has seen a few pages of it and doesn’t really vibe with it but does think the mechs look cool
Gekko, Neon, and Raze bought some models from a comic store to build and paint.  They spent a few hours on it while Sage and Omen occasionally helped out
By the end, Raze’s was absolutely covered in stickers and spray paint patterns.  Not really canon but still striking
The Dark Crusader
Mortham City has fallen from grace.  Filth clogs the streets and gangs of supervillains prowl the streets looking for an easy mark.  The superhero known as Captain Quasar lost his powers long ago, allowing corruption to take hold.  Now, he returns to Mortham as Nocturne, a man with no powers but a lifetime of knowhow in fighting villains.  Evil will learn to fear the dark.
Brimstone used to read the old Captain Quasar comic back when it was popular, when he was a still a kid
It was all of the generic superhero comics but it had charm and a main character that had some decent moments
The Dark Crusader was a reboot after the Quasar was ‘killed’ saving the world from a doomsday weapon
When Gekko and Phoenix told him about the reboot, Brim was skeptical
Turns out the writers knew what they were doing and created a grizzled character that still managed to be interesting without being overly edgy
Brim doesn’t read up a lot on the comic, but Phoenix, Yoru, and Gekko are all over it and even rented a copy of the movie to watch with him
Dead to Rites
Emerging from the grave after being booted from the Underworld, an ex-detective, Victor, finds himself on the other side of life.  Able to solve supernatural crimes now, Vic seeks to find out the mystery of his own death while investigating strange crimes.  Demons, spirits, and undead are as sinister as the living, but Vic’s keen eye leaves no tombstone unturned.
Omen has a stack of these in his room, he got them because he thought it looked cool but he kind of fell in love with the story
Viper has read through Omen’s stash just so she can make conversation, but was surprised at how well the mysteries could be laid out
Also the Frankenstein homages are Viper’s favorite because she loved that book as a kid
Fade thinks the writing isn’t as good as her books at times, but at least likes all of the mythology incorporated into the stories
Cypher pages through the books if nobody is going to play chess with him, along with whatever else he can read when he’s in the common room
(I spoofed a lot of comics like Hellboy and Dragon Ball Z to come up with these, I’m guessing you lot can figure out which is which.  Genre spoofing is the best :)

Why I enjoy the yips arc
Disclaimer: This essay is exactly what it says on the tin. If you hate the yips arc or get upset when people don't love Sawamura from the beginning, you will likely want to skip over this post.
For me, the infamous 'yips arc' sold Sawamura. To be honest, I don't tend to like MCs in anime. Especially shonen anime. They don't resonate with my personal experiences regarding competition, failure, and growth.
When I started Daiya, I didn't appreciate the loud-mouthed "hard worker" zero-to-hero sunshine teenage MC that was dead set on causing me as much second-hand embarrassment as possible. I only continued my journey with the story for two reasons: the rest of the team was more grounded, and the plot tended to not reward Sawamura's early egotistical or out-of-touch behaviors with instant success.
It was only when I hit the yips arc that I wanted to root for Sawamura to the end from the bottom of my heart. He was no longer just comic relief or a guy who would suddenly obtain convenient new skills to make sure he stayed relevant in typical MC fashion. While he had the yips, Sawamura proved himself to be a true competitor capable of meaningful fear. One who doesn't steamroll everything when it really counts because he's a prodigy protagonist with a can-do attitude that everybody loves. Yes, Sawamura remained a hardworking prodigy of sorts throughout Daiya, but he more explicitly needed the help of his team and deep self-reflection to reach his potential and move forward during the yips.
Now, there are a lot of people in the fandom who hate the yips arc. I completely understand not wanting to see your favorite character suffer. Especially when 'tough love' communication styles don't feel like love to you. It's also unpleasant to watch many beloved characters struggle to cope after a loss, all while a new villain (at the time) is introduced in Ochiai. But for me, who was not a Sawamura enjoyer until after this arc, I appreciated it. It became a core thread in the tapestry of Seido's team coming together during the aftermath of a foundation-shattering defeat.
A bit about the yips
For those unfamiliar with the real-life condition, the yips are a notoriously difficult thing to treat. There is no cure, just things to try or avoid. Even the help of the best psychological experts at top levels of play can fail to salvage a professional's game after years of treatment.
Many high school athletes have had their careers ended before they began by the yips, forcing them out of their sport entirely. Others recover with minimal help or after a short slump. The scariest part is that you don't know which camp you're going to be in, recovery or permanent breakdown, and you can switch between them at any point.
Although the prognosis for someone who develops the yips is uncertain at best, I've gone through and seen friends go through stages similar to what's shown in Sawamura's journey. I'd argue Daiya touches on these as realistically as it tackles the other disappointing realities of playing a sport. That is to say - it mimics the real deal with a touch of dramatic flair.
Now, I'm no expert on the yips or sports psychology, but I've simplified the 'stages' of the condition I have experienced or witnessed to exemplify why this arc resonated so well with me.
Stage 1 - What's happening?
Failure following a high-stress moment makes the yips seem like normal performance anxiety. It may take a while to realize what's happened if it only appears in specific situations. You try to shake off the bad memory with your normal coping strategies.
Performance anxiety is a constant companion in competition. Nerves after a bad performance, in particular, are expected. Sometimes you luck out and recover immediately. Other times you have to go back to basics or shake things up to reset, especially if your nerves only hit during performance situations and not practice.
You may attempt to ignore it in hopes it will go away like normal. When your usual attempts to get back in the groove all fail is when panic sets in.
We see this most clearly when Sawamura starts falling apart for the first time while throwing inside. It's a story shown through Miyuki more than Sawamura, strangely, since Miyuki's many responsibilities include helping his pitchers regulate their emotions.
As a catcher, Miyuki has a wide bag of tricks to get pitchers going after a slump. Although his caustic tactics are infamous, that isn't the only way he treats them during a game, nor does he treat every pitcher the same, especially after this arc. With Sawamura, Miyuki's go-to is riling him up. Sawamura loves to rise to a challenge. He pitches his best when someone's pushing him or he has something to prove.
But when Sawamura fails repeatedly to respond in his normal way to his calls inside, Miyuki realizes this may not be some normal fluke of bad control. We see Miyuki's darkened expression before he decides what brave face he's going to put on to get Sawamura back on track. He tries other tactics - joking to take the tension out of the situation and redirect anger to him, and eventually trying to directly reassure Sawamura - both of which don't fix the situation and lead us into the next stage.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Stage 2 - I've got the yips, but don't pity me
You realize that the muscle memory is "gone". Something you used to be able to do without thinking about it now forces your brain to focus on every step. You struggle with failure, fear of not getting it back, and the sympathy of others.
When you're a highly competitive person in a competitive environment, being told that your sub-par performance is okay is an awful feeling. It feels like a person is sugarcoating the obvious truth to spare your feelings. What should be a gentle attempt to cheer you up from friends or teammates can become confirmation that they never believed in you in the first place, especially when you usually have a relationship based around friendly trash-talk.
In the worst cases, you may feel like they expected you to fail when you thought you could succeed. They pity you as the 'poor, broken player'. And the last thing you want to do when someone treats you inappropriately softly is validate that you need to be coddled.
This piggybacks off of the previous stage and can serve as a mental block throughout the entire treatment process. What stood out to me in the story was how we mostly saw yips through the other characters. Sawamura didn't really ask for help. In fact, he was unusually agreeable to everyone because he desperately wanted to prove that he could live up to their expectations without those expectations being lowered.
You may recall this is the same player who said, "their kindness hurts". Sawamura thrives in the high-drive teenage sports environment where friends talk shit to each other because they believe in one another. When that stops, it hurts.
Sawamura doesn't want sympathy. He doesn't want understanding or pity because he knows the way he played was indefensible. All he wants is to perform again.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Stage 3 - Step away
Take a break from the affected activity to reset the brain.
This is to avoid cementing unwanted mental patterns. As they say, practice makes permanent. The break may be self-imposed or made mandatory by an authority figure. If you're part of an active team, it can include a demotion or temporary removal. That status change is demoralizing but necessary after the nature of your condition is clear, not only for the success of the team but for you to have less pressure on you while you change tracks.
This is also typically when your mentors start developing a plan to help you recover, or when they adopt a 'wait and see' approach before intervening further.
Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a sports psychologist at Seido. It isn't surprising, but it does mean we don't see that as a potential aid here. Instead, the treatment comes in a way many might consider 'old-fashioned' but is a reality for most people.
Taking an approach such as saying, "go run," without a full explanation of why the break might help or what the long-term treatment plan might be isn't something I'd personally recommend. However, it fits with what we've seen in the strictly hierarchical world of HS baseball at Seido. The coach very rarely or never explains himself to his players, and as readers, we often only find out what he's trying to do through analytical characters like Miyuki, who piece it together themselves.
This is also common, if not desirable according to some cultures, in competitive environments. The coach is in charge - you trust their judgment and assume there is a plan, whether or not you understand it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This phase is also where we see Sawamura's other established teachers deciding what to do. Chris tells Kanemaru to wait and see, and that he thinks Sawamura will recover on his own.
Tumblr media
Miyuki, on the other hand, waffles between not being able to spend time on Sawamura due to his own personal challenges as captain and responsibilities to his struggling team, and wanting to make sure Sawamura overcomes the yips. It's unclear if his motivation is due to guilt, friendship, practicality, or some combination of the three, but in the end, he decides he has to take a proactive approach.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Stage 4 - Everything and the kitchen sink
If the condition persists, try new approaches to replace the lost technique.
This might include learning a new skill so you don't have to do what the yips are affecting, moving to a totally different environment or league, trying a new position, or pursuing any number of therapies. Typically, the old technique is not being used at this point except to test progress. Sometimes this phase will allow a player to ignore their condition by cutting out the problem behavior entirely, thus letting them return to their previous position without recovering from the yips.
There are two main examples of this I can think of that we see during the yips arc. The most controversial is the advice by Ochiai to completely change Sawamura's delivery so he can remain useful to the team. Although this was quickly overturned because of the reason Ochiai suggested it - not actually to help Sawamura's recovery because he was already pitching again at that point but to make him 'useful' - a pitcher changing his delivery to overcome the yips is surprisingly not without historical precedent as an idea. Daniel Bard tried a huge number of things, including temporarily becoming a sidearm pitcher, to recover from the yips.
Ultimately, Miyuki, Chris, and Katoaka settle on the skill replacement idea by teaching him the out-low. It's unclear if the original idea came from Miyuki or Katoaka, though the implication is this was Miyuki's plan, and Chris agreed with it when approached, reversing his previous stance that Sawamura could recover on his own.
Tumblr media
Regardless, all three seem hopeful that this new set of pitches can get Sawamura back in the lineup and help him recover mentally. Even with that hope in mind, they know he may or may not ever be able to pitch inside again. That isn't the point of teaching the out-low, though it would (and does) make him more dangerous if he can regain his original pitches. The point is to catalyze a return of Sawamura's confidence for his own sake and that of the team.
It also serves as a foundation for an important mental skill. Relaxing. As goofy as it looks, it works well for Sawamura and makes an enormous difference in his pitching.
Tumblr media
Stage 5 (hopefully) - Oh hey, it's back!
With a lot of repetition, experimentation, and a healthy dose of luck, you spontaneously regain what you lost.
If you're one of the lucky ones, your mental block may disappear as suddenly and quickly as it appeared. Something 'clicks' and you're able to perform as you used to. The recovery isn't always permanent, unfortunately, and even if it is, you'll need to practice on your good days to make the consistency stick after so long away.
Ultimately, Sawamura is able to recover after persevering through several games. It was both a joy to see and unsurprising, considering the nature of the story. In Sawamura's case, he ends up stronger for having gone through the yips. Not only mentally, after having his often naively optimistic nature challenged, but physically with a wider pitching repertoire.
Tumblr media
One thing I want to make clear before I finish
Although dealing with the yips does require incredible mental strength due to its frustrating and demoralizing nature, recovering or not recovering doesn't prove your superior or inferior character as a person. No person, technique, attitude, or therapy has been shown to reliably reverse the yips once they've occurred. All you can do is work hard, experiment, and hope it pays off. Thankfully for Sawamura, it did, and it allowed us to see him mature significantly as a person and a pitcher.

Demigod MC Series: Ares
Demigod MC Series: Intro, Aphrodite, Hermes, Hades, Dionysus, Demeter, Athena, Hades Pt. 2, Poseidon, Ares
Lucifer
He cannot overstate what kind of damage this mortal was able to do in their first few seconds in the Devildom...
The instant they got to their feet, they had managed to incapacitate Satan and knock down Beel. Lucifer himself tried to get between them and Diavolo but…
If he hadn’t moved his head, if he was standing just ONE INCH to the left… he wouldn’t have a head anymore. Barbatos was there to intervene, but had he not they could have probably taken out the Avatar of Pride and done critical damage to the Demon Prince himself in one strike...
Frankly, Lucifer prefers not to dwell on that moment... He's sure Ares must be proud of this one...
He pretty much treats the mortal like a live bomb afterward, if he can get away with not interacting with them at all, that’s what he’ll do.
He’s NOT scared of them... much... It’s just that they have a bullish and uncooperative attitude at best and since they know they can take any of them, they don't even consider him - Lucifer, the eldest demon brother - a threat...
But you know what the most frustrating thing is? They won't give him an inch of respect, but they'll always listen to Levi! Levi!!
Look, Lucifer knows he may not hold a rank among the Hell's army and he might not have been a major player in the Celestial/Demonic wars of the day, but he's still the strongest demons here, dammit!! 😡
Lucifer finds nothing is more embarrassing than having to ask Levi of all people to keep the mortal in line because he can't... Oh, the humiliation… He hopes they leave soon...
Mammon
At first, he thought they were scary. But in time he thought they were scary… and also pretty damn awkward.
Mammon wasn’t there when they more or less wiped out the majority of his brothers in the Conference Hall but when he finally showed up he'd never seen Lucifer look so pale… If THAT doesn't make you shit your pants, he doesn't know what will.
Naturally, he kind of toned it down on the "stupid human" stuff real quick after seeing that…
But here's the thing. After the two made a pact together, Mammon started to notice that the MC wasn't all that mean, they were just… violent?
He legitimately thought that they couldn’t stand him for a while until one day a guy on the street called him a dirtbag. The MC threw a punch right there! No questions asked, they just decked that guy!!
It was kind of touching… and messy. Very messy. Did he mention that they’re terrifying yet? 😥
As it turns out, the MC has apparently spent a lot of their life just fighting things and being asked to fight things so they're not very used to showing non-violent affection…
It took him awhile, but he realized that their way of saying, "I like you," is, "I will attack your enemies." So now all he does when his brothers tease him is say, "I'm telling MC!'' and they'll stop immediately. It's great!! 😁
Considers them to be his bodyguard when he goes out to gamble in some… shadier places. Most of the time not even the bouncers want to take on the MC, ain't nobody getting paid enough to lose that many teeth…
Leviathan
Okay, so. It's not very obvious anymore, but he USED to be on the front lines of the war against demons in the Celestial Realm. He was in charge of battle strategies, he led armies, and even now he still holds the highest rank of the royal navy!
So leave it to the kid of a war god to sniff all that out about him, huh…? They appeared to know all about his record the instant they saw him and they actually seemed to respect him for it!
For context, this mortal tells pretty much everybody to shove off but any time he’s around they call him “Admiral” or “sir” and actually pay attention to what he says! He can tell it drives Lucifer insane, but honestly? It’s a bit of an ego boost. 😌
It’s sort of cute when they come to him asking for tactical advice… They get just as into it as he does with his anime and any time he points out something that they haven't seen before they get so excited it's like they're a kid watching a magic trick. HUGE ego boost. 😏
Speaking of anime, it’s hit or miss whether or not they can watch any of it. Anything with good fight scenes (and let’s be honest, not that much talking) they’re on board for. But if the hero and the villain talk to each other for like an episode before throwing punches then the MC will just rant...
MC: “The enemy is distracted... Why aren’t they attacking yet??”
Levi: “Because the villain killed the hero’s best friend and they’re-”
MC: “They could avenge their friend right now if they ended things right here!”
Levi: “MC, we’ve been over this... That’s not how plot works.”
MC: “And now he got away!! See?? They should have killed him when they had the chance!”
Levi: “*sigh*... Let’s just play some CoD.”
Satan
The last thing he remembered when the “human” hopped out of the portal was a sharp pain to the side of the temple and Asmo wailing as he fell unconscious…
Yeeeeah, not great. And unfortunately for the mortal the Avatar of Wrath tends to hold a grudge…
For a comparatively brief moment in time, all of Satan’s considerable ire had shifted away from Lucifer and to their new housemate. They found their bed, clothes, pillows, food, and even their toothbrush cursed!
… But Ares kids must be built from some strong stuff, because half of what he employed didn’t even faze them! He even put an explosive spell on their backpack and not only did they tank the blast, it didn’t hurt them at all!! It was like they’re damn near immortal!
Annnnd they kind of are. Apparently the MC had taken a dip in the River Styx at some point before and became nigh invulnerable…
Was it maybe a little terrifying to know that they had kidnapped a nearly invincible demigod on the level of Achilles? Yes. Did that also mean that they must have had a weakness too? In theory....
Satan honestly devoted a depressing amount of time trying to uncover the “Achilles’ Heel” of his new sworn enemy… until…
The MC was walking with him and Asmo to RAD one morning when they passed by a group of lesser demons harassing a small puppy. Now Satan may be more of a cat man, but NO ONE fucks with animals while he’s around.
He was right about to go over and rip those demons a new one but the MC actually beat him to it! Apparently, the second that they realized what was happening, they launched themselves forward and started bashing the abusers' heads into a wall!
… Live by violence, forgive by violence because in that very moment Satan decided they weren’t so bad after all. He even joined in!
Oh, Asmo gave them both shit all day for the bloodstains on their uniforms and the scratches on their… everywhere, but it’s not like either of them cared. Righteous justice had been served and it was glorious!!
100% would team up with the MC in some kind of vigilante “punish-all-animal-abusers” gig. They have but to ask. 😌
Asmodeus
Oh they TERRIFIED Asmo when they first showed up! How else was he supposed to react?? They brought down his brothers like they were made of cardboard!!
Though he had to admit that the confident, battle-ready look they had about them was sexy as hell, he knew better than to go bear poking! 😣 He avoided them like plague until they finally asked him for a pact.
And then he discovered something… something very unexpected….
They're actually adorable!!!
Okay, like, not in appearance (they look like they could pile drive Cerberus for Pete’s sake!) but he discovered that they have NO CLUE how to handle physical affection. Like zero!!
The first time Asmo actually got the courage to try and hug them he expected them to toss him off, but instead they just stood there like a malfunctioning doll, all flustered and confused… It was so cute!!! 🥰
From that point on, Asmo would take every chance he could to wrap his arms around them or kiss their cheeks just to watch them try and fail to handle it. It's more fun than picking on Levi!!
It took two months for them to finally attempt any kind of reciprocation and even that was adorable! They pecked him on the forehead without thinking about it then nearly passed out from the realization. Apparently, they had never felt like kissing anyone before so he was quite honored!
The brothers know that if the MC's looking too mad to listen to Levi, they just need to call Asmo. A nigh invincible warrior becomes a LOT less scary after you’ve cuddled them into submission! 🤭
Beelzebub
Beel didn't like them one bit, at least not at the beginning. They had managed to get past him and actually attack Lucifer which was NOT a great first impression on their part...
He honestly saw them as a threat for a while, but unlike the rest of his brothers he didn’t avoid them. He just kept an eye on them.... constantly….
Look. Beel is a big guy. Stealth is not his strong suit… If he's tailing you, you're probably going to know about it because there's a six-foot something behemoth in orange following you around while pounding down bags of chips. He's not very subtle…
That being said, after following them around for a while the two finally got to talking and he realized that they didn’t want to hurt anybody or anything. They were just acting on instinct before.
After making the MC promise not to hurt any of his family, they got on much better terms. Hell, he actually got them into fangol!
Beel's sport of choice is pretty much just ultra-violent American football so the MC took a liking to it instantly! After enough begging, the coach let them try out and they got onto his team immediately.
He likes having them as a teammate! They're very good at the game, uh... even if they take it a little too seriously…
They once tried to convince his teammates to decorate the team bus with "the helmets of their fallen foes." They're REALLY into the sport… But hey, they haven't lost a game since they’ve joined. It’ll be fine!... Probably.
Belphegor
Hahaha… He’s in danger… 😥
It took one look at this mortal to make him rethink the whole, “Trick the Human” plan… Since when have humans looked like that?? They could crush his skull under their heel!!
It took all he had in him to play it cool when they first met because his internal monologue was nothing but screaming… THIS was the "human" he had to use to get him out of there?? How in the WORLD was he going to kill them?!
Admittedly, he had to think about it for a while. Belphie's a clever guy… and a demon. So who needs an honorable fight, anyway? If he can’t win one-on-one, then he’ll cheat!
He waited until the MC got the door open and didn't attempt a frontal assault… No laughter, no gloating. He just waited for them to turn their back, claws ready to dig out their heart, and then-!
MC: "Do you really want to try that?"
The MC must have had some kind of danger sense, because they didn't even have to turn around to know what Belphie was doing…
MC: "Look. I like Beel and you're his twin brother… So I'm willing to let this slide. But if you really want to try me…"
MC: *looks over their shoulder with the glare of a bona fide killer* "I won't hold back."
That was... very persuasive.
The MC brought Belphie down to the others peacefully with his tail between his legs and honestly Lucifer was more relieved that he wasn’t a bloodstain on the floor than he was mad… They could have killed him sooo easily…
They did, indeed, forgive and forget about the whole “attempted murder” thing, though Belphie was never quite able to shake off how frightening they were in that moment… He had nightmares for a while.
Thankfully, Asmo clued him in that the MC would melt into a harmless puddle of fluff if they got even the slightest bit of physical affection... Oh, the sweet payback he could dish out... It’s cuddle time. 😏

about haikyuu’s ep 1
so anyway let me ramble about it because i just realized how amazing haikyuu’s first episode is now that the whole story has been revealed. and probably why i like this show among other sports anime, and i love sports anime since i was a kid.
because in 24 minutes tops, it managed to establish haikyuu as a story. in 24 minutes or so, it managed to:
1.) Make you root for the MC
Seeing Hinata finally getting to play his first volleyball match in his entire middle school career, all the desperate things he’s done in order to reach that goal makes you root for him in less than 10 minutes. i’ve seen enough sports anime to see cliches and often it either starts off with:
the mc underestimated, and after some asshole challenges them to some kind of contest, and then at the last minute, the mc shows some super skill they have and gets recruited
the mc as some kind of loser/delinquent/nerd that, under several circumstances, is found to have potential and gets recruited by the team captain/manager/ whoever.
sometimes its just pure ambition for them to win, some kind of dream. when they make their resolve to be better and win, you start rooting for them.
often times they start of as apathetic to the sport, and soon later learns to love it which help viewers fall in love with the sport as well. because you, a person who previously don’t care about the sport, start caring to root for the mc.
but haikyuu starts differently. haikyuu starts the show with ridiculous love for a sport that doesn’t favor him, in a place that didn’t favor him. all stacks are against him, physique, environment, experience, but you see the kid and he’s so desperate to play when most people would have been discouraged and the show makes you love the sport by making you ask why someone would love something so much to the point of feeling lonely
and then you don’t go ‘woaaaah, he’s so cool!’ the first episode. unlike other sports animes, haikyuu didn’t start with you realizing how cool the mc is. it starts with a loss. it starts with mourning. that even though you initially already rooted for hinata because of his struggles and loneliness, he still lost. it’s so realistic it hits close to home, but he picked himself up and resolved to do better. in 20 minutes, me, the viewer watching, decided i want the kid to achieve all his dreams.
2.) establish the character and determined their arcs for entire story
it blew my mind really and i think that’s why the character’s endings paid off. no ‘hey wtf they deserve better than this!’ feeling. the character were treated very well. but because we’re just talking about the first episode, we’ll just talk about kageyama and hinata (who are the central part and driving force of the story)
so first we see hinata who sees the little giant on screen, gets inspired and plays. then immediately after that, hinata is on court and everything he says after wards establishes that he’s excited and new to this, never played before, and this was the thing he had waited for all his middle school life.
hinata is the rookie with potential, the one who worked hard as we see in all of his flashbacks. he did his best even if the place didn’t allow it, and he was going to blow them all away
but then
we meet kageyama. now he’s the cliche genius rival in the sports anime duo--except no. he’s like most ‘genius’ characters, cliche in how mean he is, how demanding he is. if this was the usual, the final match would be the match between hinata and kageyama (and it was but more on that later)
from their practice alone, the way he walked, the way he talked to hinata, you just know his character arc would be about dealing with his attitude with his teammates. (though we will learn later how this was subverted. instead of being proved wrong and learning to be humbled, we see that it will circle back to being king of the court but with more depth and experience.) and i came thinking his crown gets knocked down ahaha we get a peek at his character arc but not on where its really going to go
hinata’s arc starts  the first few minutes already established how his arc is tied with the little giant though again we get a peek on his arc we don’t know how it’s going to go and who would’ve thought he wasn’t going to inherit the title but overcome it. wonderful trope subversion
of course we never knew the subversion that’s going to happen, but we already see hints of it from ep 1 alone. that said, here’s one more thing hinata needed to learn which was implied from the beginning and is something easily overlooked until you reach the inarizaki game and that is
3.) establish its themes
....proper self maintenance and habits!
i think the themes haikyuu got going is one of the things that make it memorable. there were so many but for episode one until rio (since msby vs adlers is a culmination of it) the theme of self maintenance and proper habits HAVE BEEN THERE SINCE EPISODE ONE JFC its also probably why 387 hits differently but that on me
okay everyone knows this. people have talked about it already. but??? tf?? in the grand scheme of things story telling wise it’s so genius?? it was so SUBTLE! it was one meaningless exchange at that time and a running gag you weren’t going to expect was important.
hinata going to the toilet was just some quirky gag and character trait about how nervous he was. and kageyama’s lecture was just to show his character trait of being an asshole
or so you thought.
like 200 chapters later you realize its a central part of the story! and it fucking proved its point on nationals! whats often the end goal of sports anime, the holy grail, the thing where the protagonists finally wins they keep fuckn losing. wonderful trope subversion but holy fuck.
it just hits differently right? because later you also realize that yes Kageyama’s delivery needed working but hinata really was unprepared. and he was right. and it spoke so much about their characters in the long run even though we don’t know it yet. it’s hidden in plain sight! it’s so good hgnnnh
but in relation to themes and character arc. that first match between them also spoke volumes about everything i mentioned and so we move one to...
4.) endings and beginnings
which is the title of the chapter. something that never fails to give me chills.
because in every way possible, it is the end and the beginning.
going on about that match, it already gave us a vision about how the end is going to go. a match between kageyama and hinata. in the match we see something that could have been, a game kageyama would have enjoyed, a potential hinata has when he made that last spike. a good game for both of them. and when he made that spike, kageyama saw someone who could match him as a teammate, someone who could hit his tosses. its so good because while hinata lost, kageyama didn’t win either. both of them felt like they lost when they walked out of that court.
in addition to ep 1, that scene in the end where they end up meeting in the same teammates is another trope subversion that i like kageyama became a 2 in one character of genius final boss and genius teammate who the mc has to fight. ep 1 is so damn meaningful
in the game we see all i talked about above. you, rooting for the mc, their character arcs, and the themes. every sports anime’s theme always have ‘the sport is fun’ slapped over them. otherwise why would we even watch it? that game showed them play volleyball where they both want to have fun but can’t because both weren’t strong enough, and by denying this, we have the whole story.
so the end where they finally become strong enough to have fun resolves this. it was an allusion to the end, hinata and kageyama on the world stage and playing against each other.
And finally, the best and final nail on the coffin.
that scene where hinata promised kageyama that he would defeat him and he would stay on the court longest no matter how long it took? that ties up the ending and beginning without us ever knowing at that time
because that’s it, that’s the whole story. its really just about the promise, and at the same time, more than that. the story is about their love for volleyball, because hinata’s words wasn’t just i’ll defeat you it was
I’ll be the one who stands on the court the longest
and doesn’t that just boil down to their love for the game? that they complete against each other and win matches to play more games? doesn’t it boil down to their mutual love for their sport? their mutual promise to each other to be the one to play the most? but its not just that, the end of the ep where they meet again as teammates? that’s how it is too when they both became national team members. and thats it. thats the show, and when they got it, the story concludes.
all that in ep 1 and we don’t even notice until it hits us in the last chapter

F is for Friends - part 1
Tumblr media
Uhhhh, hello, yeah, this is that Nolan fic that I started yesterday that wasn't on my WIP list but I've decided that this is going to be multiple parts so I hope you like this.
Anyway, it's 4:30 am, ignore typos, the MC is a high school chem teacher (because that is all I know and I'm not sorry, enjoy pretending to be an expert on the basics of chemistry)
Read part 2 here!
_____________
You knew you and your friends were being a little bit loud, but you didn’t think anyone was around to hear you. When you had gotten into your apartment, the cars that were normally there indicating that your neighbors were home were gone, the only cars there being your own and one you hadn’t seen before. If you were being honest, you didn’t even know who your neighbors were, you had just pieced together that the cars you had seen regularly were ones you assumed belonged to the people who lived around you.
It’s not like you were being that annoying, you just had music playing while you guys were hanging out. It was a rare afternoon where you were home before the traffic got bad, and your friends, working together at the same company, had the day off for whatever holiday they tried to claim it was. You and Lindsey were sitting on the couch, Francesca leaning against the coffee table as she set cross-legged on your floor.
“Do you guys hear that?” Lindsey yells over the music, interrupting the attempt you three were making at trying to figure out what you wanted for dinner later that night.
You turn the music down, not even realizing how loud it had gotten even with the screaming you all were doing trying to communicate with each other. “What?”
“Y/N, someone’s knocking at your door,” Fran says, not looking up from her phone.
You hear the knocking they were talking about, short and fast as if whoever it was was annoyed they had been knocking for a long time. You get up to answer it, two tall men standing in the way of your door. “Hi!” you greet them, a smile on your face, probably seeming slightly fake.
“Your music is loud,” the brunette deadpans.
“Oh,” you say, starting to put the pieces together about who they probably were, “sorry, I didn’t realize anyone was home at this point.”
“Who is it?” Lindsey calls.
“I think they’re my neighbors.”
“You think?” the red headed one says, clearly confused as to how you wouldn’t know who they were. “We are your neighbors. Did you just move in?”
You smirk at the slight attitude that came through in his voice, used to it by now based on who you interacted with everyday. “No, I’ve lived here for about a year now. I’m just normally the first to leave in the morning and then the first home in the afternoon, so I don’t really cross paths with anyone else who lives here.”
“What do you do?” the still nameless brunette asked.
Before you could answer, you heard Fran yelling from the other room. “Invite them in! That way we can turn the music back on and they can’t complain!”
You can’t help but cringe because of your friend's words, gesturing for them to come in because you now had to. “If you want.”
The two of them walk in, finding Fran with her legs up on the coffee table while her back is on the floor, Lindsey taking up the entirety of the couch. You groan at the sight of your friends sitting there like that, rolling your eyes before turning back to the guys. “That’s Francesca on the floor, Lindsey on the couch, and I’m Y/N. I can grab some chairs from the kitchen if you don’t want to sit on the floor,” you tell them, knowing that your friends won’t move from the way the positions they were in.
The shorter one follows you, grabbing two chairs from the table to your one.
“Uh, I’m Kevin and that’s Nolan,” the other one says, Fran and Lindsey looking incredibly unamused by your neighbors.
“So, you never said what you did,” Nolan asks, his eyes scanning you up and down.
You could feel the heat rush to your cheeks, about to answer that question again when Fran decides to answer, “Linds and I work at KPMG.”
“Excuse you, but I believe he was asking me,” you respond, the fake sweetness in your voice prompting an eye.
“Why does that sound like the voice you use when that other guy is trying to explain to you your material that he borrowed?” Fran asked.
“Because it is,” you say, using the same tone as before. You see the confused looks on the guys faces, unable to help the laughter from slipping out of your lips, “I’m a high school chemistry teacher, one of the other teachers steals my lessons from me all the time and tries to explain how to teach them to me.”
Lindsey and Fran change the subject, sucking Kevin into their topic with them while Nolan turns to you, scooching his chair closer to you.
“What could you possibly have been doing that your music was so loud?” he asks you, the other three practically screaming with laughter.
You sigh at their antics, explaining, “We were actually just talking and hanging out. If you couldn’t tell, they’re pretty loud. They come over and take over.”
“That’s Kevin, too.”
“Is he your roommate or just a friend?” you ask him.
He looks at Kevin interacting with your friends, the conversation seeming so natural, easy for him to act like he had been friends with them forever, even if they had just met. Nolan was almost never like that, more quiet, off to the side just watching whatever was around him unfold while he silently passed judgement at the poor decisions people were probably making. With you, though, it already felt different. He already felt like Kevin in this case. “Roommate and teammate,” he tells you, explaining that he played for the Flyers. “What about these two? Roommates or just friends?”
“Friends, but they live together. My roommate is almost never here.”
“Oh?”
“She works the graveyard shift at CHOP a lot, so Maddy normally just spends the day at her boyfriends since he lives right there.”
He notices your change in expression, watching Fran and Lindsey. “You don’t like it,” he tells you, as if it were fact.
You shrug, looking at him. You weren’t sure if the color on his cheeks was there for a reason, but you didn’t really care either way. Part of you almost hoped it was because he was nervous to talk to you, or whatever feeling he may be experiencing. “I spend all day with kids. Sometimes it’s nice to just come home and be alone. Plus, as long as she’s paying rent while her name is on the lease, I don’t really care where she is,” you joke, finally pulling a laugh from him.
The two of you fall into conversation, not paying attention to how much time was passing by you.
“Hey, Y/N, remember when we were going to order dinner?” Fran asks, snapping your attention away from Nolan.
“Right, oh my gosh! We haven’t figured out what we’re getting, but do you guys want to join?” you extend the offer to the guys.
They accept, starting to list off places that you could all order from. “Oh, don’t forget Keelan is coming for dinner, too,” you mention.
“Keelan?” Nolan asks.
“Her boyfriend,” Lindsey moans, not looking up from her phone as she scrolls through what was either Grubhub or Uber Eats.
“You don’t have to say it like that,” you spit. Lindsey and Fran didn’t particularly like Keelan, and they made it known. You were sure part of it was because they were both single and still bitter about it, the other part was they assumed he was a douche, no matter how many times you told them he really wasn't, no matter how many times he proved to them that he wasn't.
“You have a boyfriend?” you hear Nolan say, unsure if he was asking you or if he was trying to process that sentence.
“Uh, yeah,” you tell him, suddenly feeling embarrassed. “He should be here by now? Maybe he’s stuck in traffic?” The other three go back to talking, figuring out where to order from, an awkward silence between you and Nolan.
He starts looking around your apartment, the decorations that he figured you put more effort into than Maddy had, only on the basis that she was never there. “Wait,” Nolan asks, spotting the one thing hanging behind your TV that he wished he hadn’t, “You like the Penguins?”
The conversation between your friends and Kevin stops, Kevin’s head following Nolan’s gaze to the “Reserved parking: Penguins fans only” metal sign that you tried so hard to hide. Fran and Lindsey start laughing, you rolling your eyes. “Keel is from Pittsburgh. His biggest flaw is that he’s a Pittsburgh sports fan. He left it here so I just put it on the wall because I kept tripping over it on the floor.”
“It could be worse,” Nolan says, a smirk on his face as he looks at Kevin. “He could like New England sports.”
“Watch yourself, Patty,” Kevin says, causing a bickering match between the two of them. You listen to them, watching Nolan become more animated than he had been when he first came in, becoming more comfortable around you and your friends.
You didn’t even remember why they had knocked on your door in the first place, you were just happy they did.
“Hey, it’s me,” you hear someone call from your door.
“We’re in here,” you respond, knowing it was Keelan, finally arriving from work.
“We?” he finally appears, forgetting that you were at least going to be joined by the girls, definitely not expecting the boys to be there, too. “Hey, I’m Keelan,” he introduces himself to Nolan and Kevin, saying hi to Fran and Lindsey despite their lack of acknowledgement of him before he kisses you hello. He wanders into the kitchen to grab his own chair when you look over to Nolan. He was staring at his hands the red in his cheeks burning brighter than they had been before. Before you can ask him if something was up, Keelan was back, putting his chair as close to yours as he could, his arm slung around the back as if to mark you as his.
“Where did we order from?” Keelan finally asks once Fran pointed out that the food would be getting there soon.
“Snap,” Lindsey says, popping the ‘p’ at the end.
Keel turns to you, waiting for you to tell him what he was getting. “I got you the Sweet n’slow.” He scrunches his face up at the mention of what you thought was his favorite pizza from there. “What? That’s what you always get.”
“Yeah but last time I said I wanted to have something else.”
“Sorry,” you apologize, even though you really didn’t think you had to.
“Well what did you get, maybe we can trade?”
Nolan was sitting awkwardly next to you, listening to what you hoped wouldn’t turn into any sort of argument between you and your boyfriend. “I got the Kennett Square.”
“Oh, I’ll just eat yours then,” Keelan says as if it weren’t a big deal.
You look at him, confused as to how he would miss the biggest reason why you wouldn’t eat that pizza: “Then what do I eat? I don’t like the Sweet n’slow, that’s why I don’t order it.”
“He can have mine, I’ll take the pizza,” Nolan offers.
“Oh, no, you don’t have to,” you start, only for Keelan to cut you off.
“Thanks man, I appreciate that.”
You scoff at him. How could he take a pizza from a guy he doesn’t know, when you had ordered him something he had gotten time and time again since you frequent the pizza place often enough? You get cut off again, something that was happening a lot today but Fran asking you to help her bring in the pizzas.
“I can’t carry six of them by myself!”
You let out a sigh, leaving Nolan and Keelan to fend for themselves with your empty chair between them. “The boxes aren’t even that big you totally could have grabbed these by yourself.”
“Well, yeah, but oh, my god!” Fran starts squealing, “Nolan totally likes you!”
You give her the side eye, taking the pizzas from the guy who clearly felt awkward by the conversation. “I just met him.”
“Love at first sight, duh.”
“I have a boyfriend,” you counter.
“You’re not denying it.”
“I’m not acknowledging it, there’s a difference.”
“You two are going to fall in love,” she tells you.
You stop outside your door, keeping your voice down so no one on the other side has a chance to hear it. “If he does, then that’s his problem. I’m dating Keelan, I love Keelan, and that’s that.” She shrugs, clearly not believing what you were saying. She reaches for the door, you sticking your foot out to stop her from being able to open it. “What?”
“I think you like him, too.”
“I mean he’s a cool guy from the, what, hour that I’ve been talking to him?”
“You like him.”
“As a friend. If that. I barely know him. I didn’t even know he and Kevin were my neighbors until they knocked on my door because you two are too loud.”
“Whatever,” she huffs, trying to open the door again, your foot still in its way, “I’m just saying, when you and Keelan break up, we both know that Nolan is going to be the one who you run to and who you end up being with.”
“Excuse me?” you say, not getting anything out of her as she manages to open your door, barging back into your apartment and figuring out which pizza goes to who.
There was no way she could see something between you and Nolan, could she? You met that day, and sure, he was easy to talk to, sure he was attractive, but that didn’t mean anything. Finding someone pretty does not always mean you are attracted to them. You were attracted to Keelan, turning to your boyfriend as he eats what should have been Nolan’s salad. You loved him, you loved everything about him. So why is that something you need to remind yourself of now that you’re sitting next to Nolan?
“Buddy, cat, why are you eating pizza? You don’t like pizza,” Kevin’s words pull you out of you the trance you fell into.
You turn to him, just watching him shrug as his cheeks get more red, picking at the over abundance of meat that was on the pizza. You turn to Keelan, watching him as he eats the salad like nothing was wrong. “You’re being an ass,” you say, getting up and retreating to the kitchen, leaving the five of them there in your living room.
Why would Nolan offer up his food if he didn’t like pizza to begin with? There’s no way that Fran could be right about him liking you, right? He just met you. He didn’t know you. You had been talking all of an hour of your life, barely knowing anything about him. But fuck, why was it easy to talk to him?
“Hey,” you hear Keelan say, turning to him and scowling at him.
“You really couldn’t eat the pizza I ordered for you? The same pizza that you get every single time, even when you do say you’re going to order something different? He doesn’t even like pizza and now he has nothing to eat.”
“I ordered him new food.”
“For what?” you ask, clearly not amused, “So he can sit and wait to eat while we finish everything, and then he awkwardly sits there eating by himself while the rest of us are talking? He doesn’t really seem like the kind of guy who enjoys something like that, Keel.”
He looks down at his feet, while the two of you stand there. You were tempted to walk up to him, giving in and pushing yourself away from the part of the counter you were leaning on. You wrap your arms around his waist, his own snaking around you and pulling you close to him. “What’s up with you? You’re not like that.” Keelan kisses the top of your head, lingering there as you hear him mumble something. “What was that?”
“He likes you.”
“Oh, not you, too,” you whine, pushing away from him.
“It’s obvious! Come on!” he says, his voice raising a little bit. You were hoping that the rest of them couldn’t hear you in the living room, but you knew they all could. The apartment was small, the walls thin, and if the boys could hear your music from their place, they could hear the two of you talking in the kitchen.
“If it were so obvious, then I would have picked up on it,” you try to counter.
“Babe, I liked you for three years before you finally caught on. For someone whose entire livelihood involves teaching kids that one of the most important things in life is noticing what’s going on around them, you don’t see anything.”
“That’s mean and you know it,” you tell him.
“Maybe. But that doesn’t mean it isn’t true. And, plus, they’re Flyers,” he cringes.
“You’ve lived in Philly for six years now and Sidney Crosby is never going to fuck you, get over it,” you counter, knowing that his love of the Penguins captain was the only thing keeping him from liking Nolan and Kevin as guys and not as two of the Flyers.
“The Flyer’s are our biggest rivals!”
“You say ‘our’ like you’re on the team but we both know you can’t skate for shit.”
“Hey, when you’re a fan, you’re part of the team.”
“Jesus Christ, what are we even fighting about?” you yell, silence falling around you as you know that your friends and neighbors heard every word.
He rubs his hands on his face, letting out a deep groan. “I don’t even fucking know. Just don’t get too close to him.”
“He’s just my neighbor. That’s it.”
“Please?”
You roll your eyes at him, knowing that he was being ridiculous. “Fine. I won’t. But you have nothign to worry about with him. I'm dating you. I have been dating you for, what, three years almost?”
He pulls you close to him, tilting your chin up towards him with his thumb before he kisses you. “I love you,” he tells you, holding you tight.
“I love you, too,” you say, resting your head against his chest for a minute.
The two of you go back and join everyone else, Nolan sitting there quietly while Fran, Lindsey, and Kevin were deep in conversation. If they heard anything that happened between you and Keelan, they were doing a good job of pretending they didn’t. “Oh, Y/N, perfect. We were telling Nolan and Kevin about that one night in the library when Danielle brought the roller blades.”
“Oh, no,” you groan, knowing exactly what she was talking about.
“So Danielle and Alli are rollerblading across the bridge that connects the new side and the old side of the library, the same floor was connected that way so you could cross over without having to swipe in and out,” Fran starts to explain, “but the old side was built lower than the new side, so when you went from new to old, there was a decline in the bridge. Danielle turns to Y/N here and says, ‘Hey, we’re the same size, do you want to try skating?’”
“Please don’t” you beg, even though you had a smile on your face. It was one of your more embarrassing moments from college, but looking back, you couldn’t help but laugh at the antics you guys had pulled when you were supposed to be studying.
“Oh, no, we’re going to. So she puts on the skates, and Dani practically launches her down the atrium bridge and she has no balance whatsoever.”
“Yeah, she couldn’t stop either,” Keelan says, “Luckily I was there to catch her before she fell flat on her face.”
You roll your eyes, leaning up against his shoulder as he wraps his arm around you. “Yeah, and then you said the worst pickup line ever.”
“Oh, what was it?” Kevin asks, his face red from laughing probably too hard.
“I think I said, ‘Wow, I knew one day you’d fall for me.’”
“I don’t know why I went out with you after that,” you joke, Keelan kissing the top of your head. You glance over to Nolan, the stoic expression covering his face.
“Me neither,” Fran mumbles, Lindsey nodding in agreement.
“I don’t think you want me to expose some of the shit you two did when we were in the library,” you counter, feeling Keelan’s touch retreat. He knew pretty much everything they did in there. The library at your school was the most social place on campus, an academic building where absolutely everyone hung out no matter what was going on. People would meet there, leave their stuff unattended for hours, the unspoken rule that if you had a table with your stuff there, no one would take it. You could get up and leave at any point, you could mess around like you did when you were rollerblading, and even do the things Lindsey and Fran did.
"Hey, maybe Nolan could teach Y/N how to skate," Kevin offers, seeing where the conversation was about to go, only earning and small, 'dude,' from Nolan.
“Like what?” Lindsey tempts you, none of you acknowledging what Kevin had just offered.
“Like when you got drunk on a Tuesday night before your accounting exam while we were there?”
“She didn’t!” Kevin gasps.
“Oh, she did,” you say, not looking away from Lindsey as her face turned bright red. “We had a few water bottles in our fridge our sophomore year, so before we left our place, Linds had grabbed one to take with her. Apparently, someone had mixed in the bottles filled with water with the bottles filled with vodka that we would take with us to parties. Lindsey tastes it, says, ‘ah, fuck this is vodka,’ shrugs and downs the entire thing, spends the rest of the night vomiting, and had to have public safety drive her home instead of walking with Fran and I since she was too drunk to walk.”
“How’d you do on the exam, though?” Keelan asks.
“I think I got a B-?” she tries to remember. “It was accounting, though, so who cares?”
You look over at Keelan, knowing that it was another jab at him. He was a CPA, the nerdiest thing he could be, but it was something he loved, so who really cared? You could tell he was biting the inside of his cheek at her words, pulling his arm from around you. “I think I’m gonna go, I have an early morning tomorrow,” he says, kissing you before getting up.
“Tomorrow’s Saturday,” you point out, getting up with him.
“Yeah, I’ll see ya,” he says, practically running to the door, turning to you with his hand on the doorknob. He takes in a deep breath, his eyes closed, “He was staring at you the entire time. Please, keep your promise, ok?”
“I was telling a story, people tend to look at the person telling a story." He gives you a look, telling you to take it seriously, "You’re being paranoid, but ok, fine,” you tell him, clearly unamused.
He goes out the door and to his car, leaving you standing in your doorway watching him walk away. What were he and Fran seeing that you couldn’t? Nolan couldn’t possibly like you already, if at all. You didn’t know him. You were barely friends.
You go back into your living room, mad at your friends for practically chasing your boyfriend out of your apartment. “Can you go one day with him without being mean or rude to him?” you scold them.
“Oh come on, I wasn’t mean,” Lindsey says.
“‘It was accounting, who cares?’ He’s a fucking accountant, Linds. What about when he helped you pass your marketing classes, you know, the ones for your major? But it’s marketing, anyway, who cares?” Her lips press into a thin line, the other three silent as you talk to her like your students would be if you were in your classroom and one of the kids was acting up. “You don’t like that too much, do you?”
“God, I hate that you’re a teacher,” she mumbles, knowing that you made her feel bad for 'misbehaving.' “I’ll apologize to him next time I see him,” she says, not looking you in the eye.
“Good.”
“I think it’s time we get going,” Fran says, getting up off the floor.
Kevin stands up with Lindsey, “Yeah, we should probably go home, too.” Fran and Lindsey leave without another word, Kevin waiting for Nolan to follow him, “You coming?”
Nolan looks at you before turning to his roommate, “I think I’m going to help Y/N clean up, if you want?”
“Uh, yeah sure,” you say, watching Kevin shrug and leave. He was just being nice, you tell yourself. There were pizza boxes, napkins, utensils, whatever Keelan had ordered to make up to Nolan. The two of you start gathering everything in silence and bringing it all the kitchen, you definitely not wanting to be the first one to break it.
“So, they seem like fun,” Nolan says.
You let out a small laugh, hearing the sarcasm in his voice. “Yeah. Keelan being brought up or around turns them feral.”
“They don’t like him.”
“Oh, no, not at all. They make that very clear every chance they get.”
“Why don’t they? Like him, I mean?”
“Lindsey and Fran were on the crew team at our school,” you start to explain, “and so was Keelan. The men’s and the women’s teams did not get along at all. The guys team was favored over the AD all the time and the guys knew that and flaunted that, so any guy who was on the team during the four years they were, they automatically hate.”
He nods, trying to tie up the now full trash bag. “He doesn’t seem that bad, aside from eating my salad.”
“Yeah, I don’t know what that was,” you laugh, hopping up on the counter while he still struggles to tie the bag. “That’s not like him, at all.”
The two of you remain how you were for a moment, a comfortable silence between you as Nolan stands there with the trash bag. “Um, well, I can take this out for you,” he tells you. You follow him to the door with the intention of locking it behind him, not expecting him to turn around when he does. “Do you think I could get your number? You know, Kev and I are away a lot, so if we had someone watching our place that we trusted?” he spits out.
You were definitely caught off guard, but why shouldn’t you have your neighbor's number? You pull out your phone, handing it to him as he continues to ramble, “And, of course, we can do the same for you, you know? If you’re ever away with Fran and Lindsey, or with,” he pauses, trying to swallow the lump that was forming in his throat, “with Keelan. Or anyone else.”
“Thanks, Nolan,” you tell him when he hands you your phone back. “Goodnight.”
“Goodnight, Y/N,” he says, leaving to bring your trash out. You lock the door behind him, letting out a groan. He was just awkward and quiet, that didn’t mean anything about whatever feelings he may or may not have towards you.
Nolan goes back into his place, expecting and hoping that Kevin was already tucked away in his room for the night, only to find him sitting on the couch waiting for Nolan like a parent waiting for the kid who was coming in past curfew. “Dude, you’ve got it bad.”
“What are you talking about?” Nolan huffs.
“You like her.”
Nolan turns to Kevin, arms crossed over his chest. “We just met her.”
“Oh, come on,” Kevin eggs on, getting off the couch and following Nolan to his room, “when she was scolding Lindsey like that, you were so turned on.”
Nolan shrugs, trying to act like it wasn’t a big deal: “So what if I was? Sexual attraction doesn’t mean that much.”
Kevin narrows his eyes to call his roommates bluff. “With you it does.”
“Whatever,” Nolan says, trying to shut Kevin out by closing his bedroom door on him.
“Just, wait,” Kevin says, stopping him from closing it completely, “She has her boyfriend, who you just met. He’s not scrawny, he could probably take you.”
Nolan’s mouth hangs open at Kevin’s words. “What, do you think we’re going to physically fight over Y/N?”
Kevin shrugs, “You never know. Just be careful. As long as she’s with Keelan, you two are just friends. And hey, you can teach a friend how to skate."
Nolan rolls his eyes, finally getting his bedroom door closed. Just friends.

Ever since 6th grade... my family’s been stuck on the day of the accident... and remained there. ~ Re-Main
Drama in sports anime isn’t really that surprising, as this whole genre kind of rides on the drama in between of the matches of the sport portrayed, training camps, motivational speeches and general “we gotta do this” vibes, but usually it is all somehow sports related. What is interesting about the Re-Main, it’s that, it’s one of a few sports anime which is showing us the family of the main character and is showing us sports unrelated trauma in realistic and relatable way.
Re-Main is a little on a joking side when it comes to main character’s lose of memories and problems attached to it (like literally not remembering people from middle school or school material to enter high school), but it also doesn’t shy away of more Hoshiai no Sora approach to the life of the people inside the story. Usually in sports anime, sport is so important that it even obscures the very fact that all characters have families and probably have some issues at home, because it’s impossible to not have any at all, to the point of making us feel as if the characters actually didn't have a life outside the sport. Re-Main however, just like Hoshiai no Sora and a few other recent sports anime, tries to break out of that idea and put more realistic life drama into the story, so even when they don't want to get all gloomy and depressing with making us focus only on that by distracting us with a goofy MC, they actually decided to show a trauma which MC doesn’t remember through his younger sister who was there. I could even say that I never actually saw a sports anime in which the topic of PTSD, especially PTSD suffered by a kid, would be even mentioned, let alone shown.
It breaks the comedy for just a moment, to show us real human pain of a family which lost 6 months waiting for their son to wake up from a coma, which they knew he may actually never wake up from, trying to act as if everything was fine, but wasn’t able to “just move on and forget” when they got him back (expressed by the PTSD nightmares his sister has and will have to live with, as well as by his mother’s guilt for “causing” the accident and the general sadness), thanks to what MC had an opportunity to experience that pain as well, despite the lack of recollection of the whole accident and his easy going attitude.

:0 could I have a beel, asmo, belphie, lucifer, mammon, satan (not including levi) and diavolo playing videogames? I thought it would be kinda funny since they're all really old- except for levi of course haha
Ohhh this should be fun!
Decided to do individual HCs for this one instead of a group thing so they wouldn’t be limited to multiplayer games.
Most of them, save for a certain prince, have been exposed to games a fair amount by proximity to Levi.
---
Lucifer:
Lucifer has a Mononoke Land account so that he’ll get the email notifications for events and can therefore keep track of Levi’s whereabouts.  He’s never played the game, though, nor downloaded the app, and he has no intention of doing so.
In general, he’s not much of a gamer.  The most gaming he gets done is minesweeper on Windows XP.  He doesn’t have the time, and it was never something he could get into.
That isn’t to say that he owns zero games, though.  His favorite genre is turn-based strategy, because he can afford to look away from them, and they make him think and plan.
He doesn’t like the hyper-realistic ones, though.  Things like Civilization and Here Be Dragons are up his alley, Hearts of Iron not so much.
He doesn’t care too much about the story, but a good soundtrack is mandatory.
Also he’s an old man so the controls also have to be intuitive or he just won’t be able to play.  Why is he jumping when he presses A he thought that was the attack button.
The type of player who needs to get every achievement.  A completionist.
When the group gets together for the rare multiplayer night, he has no idea what he’s doing and yet still manages to do well.  It’s kind of infuriating.
He won’t make alliances with anyone, no, it’s every man for himself.  He also actively targets Mammon no matter what game they’re playing.
The fact that he doesn’t really get it protects his pride when Levi inevitably wipes the floor with him.
Mammon:
Mammon actually does game a little bit in his spare time, mostly with Levi.  He’s got a couple consoles and is more open to different genres than Lucifer is.
He thrives in any game where the main goal is to rack up as many points or as much profit as possible.  He’s undefeated in tycoons and pinball.  (Tetris is an exception; he’s terrible at Tetris.  Stupid spacial recognition.)
The RNG elements boil down to his insane luck, but he’s actually very smart when it comes to investments and stuff, so it’s not like he’s only using his luck to get by.
If the games have multiplayer, even better!  Nothing like kicking Levi, MC and Belphie’s asses in a game of Fortune Street!
He also tends to like the action-focused games that Levi plays.  Not so much into turn-based RPGs, but he enjoys stuff where the enemies spawn, like in Zelda or Rune Factory.  And he’s great at button mashing in fighting games, although Levi, who actually knows how to play them, always beats him.
Mammon uses items as soon as he gets them, and is too busy rushing a boss to care about learning its patterns and strategizing.
Skips cutscenes even on his first run.  Levi and Satan hate him for it.
Like mentioned before, he gets an unfair disadvantage in game nights because everyone targets him.  Especially in those games with RNG, because otherwise he WILL win.
He’s banned from PTW games because he will indeed PTW.
Satan:
Satan is another one who doesn’t play too many games, and that might be for the best because he’s a nightmare to play with.
The sorest loser, and a pretty nasty winner too.  He insists on the hardest difficulty and then rage quits at the slightest inconvenience.
He will play when prompted, though; he’s not above hanging out with his brothers.  His favorite sorts of games are ones with a good story and/or good puzzles.  His planning is more on the tactics side, as opposed to Lucifer’s strategy, so he would love Fire Emblem.
He WILL drop a game if the story isn’t holding his attention, and he’s done so in the past.
Overly cautious and hoards resources.  He takes the safe route every time.
Also another completionist.
Beel would often ask Satan to help him find out which art pieces were originals and safe to buy in Animal Crossing, and Satan got a little bit interested and ended up making a resident on Beel’s cartridge so the donations could be in his name.  He went on a mini-campaign to drive out the residents he didn’t like, but one of them turned out to be Beel's favorite and he felt terrible about it for weeks.
During family game nights, everyone is always torn between appeasing Satan and telling him to deal with it when he loses.
He also gets angry if he catches on to the fact that they’re letting him win, though.
Probably a genwunner.
Asmodeus:
Asmo enjoys video games.  They don’t fit into his aesthetic so he’s never really tried to understand them, but he doesn’t dislike them by any means.
Gaming is becoming more mainstream though, right?  That’s a whole new audience that could appreciate him.  Maybe, just maybe, he can let himself be a bit of a geek.
Unsurprisingly, he’s got a penchant for games with customization options.  Surprisingly, he also really enjoys FPS games.  If he and Levi ever played at the same time, it would be chaos in the House of Lamentation.
As opposed to his in-your-face attitude, he likes to play sniper units.
He said he wants to tap into the gaming community, but he’s not very good at most of the games he plays so he’s too embarrassed to actually do so.  He does, however, play the Sims on livestream.  He does his best to make the steamiest and most dramatic scenarios happen, and he’ll hold strawpolls to let his viewers make some choices.
Asmo also plays Animal Crossing like a few other brothers, but his island is so well groomed and with just the right residents, it feels like you’re touring an uncanny dystopia and Asmo is the dictator.
When the group gets together, he usually ends up doing the worst.  He’s more interested in executing perfect combos than actually dealing damage, so he’s not aggressive enough to get anything done against players like Levi and Satan.
He’s also not very good at teamwork; he starts yelling at his partner very quickly.
Beelzebub:
Beel doesn’t have a lot of “gamer” in him, but some of his brothers seem to like it so he decided to give it a go.  Turns out his hands are too big, but he makes do.  Kind of.
You’d expect a sports game to be the best for him, since he’s so athletic.  However, it’s BECAUSE he’s so athletic that this sort of game isn’t in his library.  He gets too antsy and bored tapping buttons instead of actually playing the sport.
Beel’s also not an aggressive player in any sense of the word.  He feels guilty even hurting the most basic of slimes.
No, no games are better for Beel than the stress-free, casual life simulators.  Animal Crossing is no surprise his favorite one right now.  Satan handles the museum for him while Beel gets to do whatever he feels like in a world where the biggest threat is a wasp.
He’ll also play other low stakes games where living your life is the main goal, like Harvest Moon and Stardew Valley.  His big heart can never choose who to marry in those games.
Horror is also ok for him, because while aggression is hard for him, self-defense is not.
He got the Cooking Mama app on his D.D.D. and bit the device in half, so he’s not allowed to touch that franchise anymore.
When the gang meets up, his non-aggressive side sticks around.  In fighting games, he’s more likely to dodge and steer clear of the others, and in other versus games he’s so open to compromise you’d think you were on the same team.
Satan did get him his favorite resident back.
Belphegor:
Belphie probably games the second most after Levi; it’s something that keeps him entertained but doesn’t require him to move very much at all.
I actually have no idea how to describe his preferred genres, but League of Legends and Dark Souls is basically all you need to know.
League lets him socialize a bit, and it’s the game that he and Levi play together most often.  As for Dark Souls, he loves the sort of game where learning your opponent’s every move and outsmarting/outmaneuvering them is the only path to victory.
I guess that would be described as “really hard action-adventure” games?  He’d also like Sekiro.
He also has his own copy of Animal Crossing to visit and play with Beel, but his island is so underdeveloped you’d think he started that same week.
Belphie is the true wild card of family game nights; sometimes he sleeps through the whole thing, while other times he can take down even Levi.
He has everyone’s habits down to a T--Mammon charges in, Asmo does too much setup, Levi’s overconfident--and he knows how to counter each and every one of them.
For someone who’s so much of a cunning player, though, he also misclicks a lot.
He’s the most likely out of his brothers to make alliances.  He’s also the most likely to break alliances.
If he doesn’t think he can win, he’ll choose a player and start sabotaging the game in their favor.
Diavolo:
Lord Diavolo had read about like, Mario?  The little blue hedgehog guy?  But he’d never owned a gaming console before.  He probably thought Neopets was peak gaming.
Levi swore to fix this grievous error, and this was also a mistake, because now Diavolo keeps trying to get Lucifer to play all these hack and slash games with him.
He has legitimately told Lucifer that “if you don’t play Devil May Cry with me THIS devil may cry!”
The games need to always have something happening in them or he’ll get bored, kind of like Satan’s need for a good story, except with action.
It’s also worth mentioning that “play a game with Diavolo” actually means “sit in the same room as Diavolo while he plays.”
And oh boy… is he terrible at these games.
He just button mashes until either he dies or all the enemies die.
Never uses any of the items he gets because he’s sure he’ll need them more later on.  When, Diavolo?  During the staff roll?
Will bomb a door before trying the knob.
Since he’s usually only around Lucifer, who doesn’t want to get sucked into this, and Barbatos, who honestly couldn’t care less about this, he’s been left alone and free to develop these terrible gaming habits.
It’s rare that he comes to family gaming night.  Legend has it that Lucifer’s piercing glare is somehow connected to the fact that his brothers always let Diavolo win.

I recently read Balancing Toy and Cross Game because of you and I loved both! They were so good at depicting mundane life and packing emotion in subtle ways. Could you recommend some slice of life manga?
this makes me so happy, omg! 😭 i’m really glad you enjoyed them, i love the slice of life genre so much for how it’s used as a medium. i’m going to recommend some other titles here, but i think yamakawa aiji and mitsuru adachi’s other works are definitely worth checking out as well!
sangatsu no lion (manga/anime) - this may be one of the more obvious recent choices within the genre, but i think it’s with very good reason! chica umino has the slice of life genre down to a science. the story primarily follows rei, a shogi prodigy who has recently started to live alone due to tensions he felt he was creating within his adoptive family. he’s very lonely and depressed due to what he felt was an invasive experience on his own part, so a lot of the narrative follows him being reached out to by other people and him learning to ask for help rather than keeping all of his struggles to himself. there’s a lot of complex emotions and trauma tied into the narrative, but they’re often depicted against very simple situational backdrops, so it feels like you’re walking through ordinary people’s lives but in a way that’s deeply relatable. i believe the anime is on netflix so that’s very convenient as well, and i think it does a beautiful job of conveying a lot of the imagery that’s so crucial to depicting the ideas contained within the story. i would definitely recommend chica umino’s other primary work, honey and clover, for similar reasons as well, but i recommended that in my shoujo recs post already so i won’t rehash that here
azumanga daioh (anime/manga) - i’m not sure how to describe this series. it follows a group of teenage girls (and a few of their teachers) as they navigate three years of high school. and that would sound like an at least semi-serious endeavor, except it isn’t really on the surface. the series operates as a progression of chronological one shots centered on different gags and nonsensical situations, and it makes for comedy that i think has remained pretty timeless despite the series being nearly two decades old. the anime is great, both the sub and dub are phenomenal, and the manga is written in the form of those comic strips you used to read as a kid on sundays. it’s just super simple, lightheartedly funny, and surprisingly heartfelt when it wants to be due to the relationships you see illustrated between the girls. i would recommend kiyohiko azuma’s other primary work, yostuba&!, for similarly lighthearted and funny material. also, these are some of my favorite scenes from the anime
ojamajo doremi (anime) - this falls more into the shoujo category, esp since the mcs are witches who navigate a witching world, but i think it operates by slice of life parameters because of the way the story is told. ojamajo has received a lot of praise for its timelessness due to the relatability of its multiple scenarios to people of all ages and backgrounds. most simply put, it starts as a show about a girl who accidentally becomes contracted to a witch and so becomes a witch-in-training herself. doremi gets into all sorts of ridiculous messes and has to solve them not just through use of her powers but also just per normal problem solving skills. there’s narratives about friendships, relationships with our family and our teachers, growing up, learning to accept different kinds of people, etc. and similarly to azumanga, tho it initially feels like a purely one shot set-up, the plot and development of the characters builds in a way that’s subtle but also pleasingly noticeable. it’s just super down to earth and kind and funny, and there’s even a movie that came out last year (i believe?) to celebrate the twentieth anniversary, which made its main characters be girls who had grown up watching ojamajo and were now seeking out their own adventures as they grew up. i think that’s really sweet
horimiya (manga/anime) - this is perfect to get into right now bc the anime just started airing! it follows a pair of students, hori and miyamura, who come to find out about each other living “double lives”. hori hides the fact that she goes home everyday to take care of her house and her brother bc her parents are always at work, and miyamura looks like an otaku bc of the way he dresses but is actually just a normal guy with some tattoos and piercings. they coincidentally cross paths one day and are made privy to each other’s “secret” lifestyles, so a friendship and eventually a romantic relationship strikes up between them. the nice thing about the manga is that not a lot of time is spent on getting them into the relationship. you actually see them as a couple for most of it, doing couple-y things, engaging in couple-y conversation, having couple-y squabbles. there’s also a cast of characters outside of these two who deal with their own day-to-day issues and such, so overall it’s a nice casual read about people and how they interact. i wouldn’t say it ever gets angsty (at least not that i’ve read so far) but it’s nonetheless very enjoyable for its straightforwardness and simplicity
bokura ga ita (manga/anime) - i haven’t watched this in a long time so my memories are somewhat hazy, but i think this features one of my favorite explorations of grief in a shoujo manga. it starts with nanami, a high school freshman who hopes to make new friends but is also put-off by the most popular boy in school, yano, bc of his superficial attitude. yano is actually still emotionally recovering from the death of his girlfriend the year prior. she died in a car accident and was with her ex-boyfriend at the time, so yano assumed she was cheating on him, and instead of properly processing the event, he pretends to act like he doesn’t care. he and nanami grow close over the course of the narrative, but there are a lot of levels to yano’s trauma and grief that keep them apart in various ways. it’s very much true to that era of romance manga in the sense of all of the ridiculous drama and love lines, but i think it’s really weighted because so much of that drama stems from real trauma and characters’ issues with depression, etc. if you loved nana or paradise kiss, i think you would enjoy it. also, if memory serves, i believe the anime covers only half of the story, prior to a major time skip
i didn’t want to feature any repeats, so i’m going to direct you to my shounen recs post for some more stuff i love from the slice of life genre as well. in particular, i think silver spoon and sket dance are great for that (as is oofuri, but it’s also a sports series very detailed with its sports lore, so idk if you’d be interested in that). and while i haven’t read the following personally, these are some trusted recs that i’ve either been meaning to read or got from friends: mushishi, oyasumi punpun, barakamon, nichijou, beck. i hope this all helps!

Match-Up #14
Tumblr media
Yes, you can’t, @00fabolous ! I’m sorry, I couldn’t help myself. A classmate of mine once answered the teacher like that.
Tumblr media
Hmm, Yuki seems to be best-suited by partners who are reliable and generally, can talk him back to reality (as he tends to strain himself too much - as Shingen put it, he’s like a spear, if you swing it too hard, it may break). Hmm... I presume more youthful, action-oriented suitors would be at the advantage? Actually, Yukimura could use a Yukimura at times as well!
Masamune (+1) Yukimura (+1)
Tumblr media
First of all, loyalty and empathy (which is oftentimes accompanied by caring great lot about others) is a combination much appreciated by Hideyoshi. He seems to see them as desirable qualities in a partner and admires those. He also would be able to be equally giving in that department + he would benefit greatly from having a laid-back partner. I presume it and him being extremely responsible could balance each-other out well, without either falling into any extreme.
Hideyoshi (+3)
As for being clever, it seems to be an universally desired quality. However, I believe that warlords who can hold a discussion, take an active interest in learning and aren’t afraid of questioning corretness of some solutions may have an advantage here.
Masamune (+1) Nobunaga (+1) Mitsunari (+1) Mitsuhide (+1) Shingen (+1)
Loyalty may be best appreciated by those who experienced treason or were otherwise betrayed. I presume that those who live in shadows would admire that to some extent too - at least depending where those loyalties would lie, that is.
Mitsuhide (+1) Shingen (+1) Nobunaga (+1) Kenshin (+1) Masamune (+1) Ieyasu (+1)
Similarly to what I stated before about Hideyoshi, I do think that tense characters could appreciate a laid-back partner exponentially. Similarly, those of seemingly similar attitude would.
Kenshin (+1) Ieyasu (+1) Masamune (+1)
Tumblr media
Hmm... I think that a partner who could potentially amplify both pessimism and cynicism may be not the best of choices. I wouldn’t say that they’d have to be a ray of sunshine, as that could easily backfire as well, but perhaps somebody more neutral.
Ieyasu (-1) Kenshin (-1) Mitsunari (-1)
Stubbornness is one of those traits that could allow for some relationships to even start. As such, let’s give out points for those.
Ieyasu (+1) Nobunaga (+1) Masamune (+1) Hideyoshi (+1)
Lastly, let’s consider another combination: laziness + stubbornness + getting easily angered. I think it would lead to plenty arguments when paired with Hideyoshi - he isn’t exactly short tempered, but he could perceive your laid-back attitude as being disrespectful, then get further angered at laziness, perhaps get overwhelmed in the meantime, and... You see where I’m going with it.
Hideyoshi (-3)
1st Summary:
Masamune (+5) Nobunaga (+3) Mitsuhide (+2) Shingen (+2) Ieyasu (+2) Yukimura (+1) Kenshin (+1) Hideyoshi (+1)
Tumblr media
Points distributed for likes:
Ieyasu (+3) <- spicy food, health, animals Shingen (+3) <- drawing (appreciative of art), sweets, health (yes, this is a cruel joke) Masamune (+2) <- drawing (appreciative of art), would cook for you Nobunaga (+1) <- games
Tumblr media
Points distributed for dislikes:
Nobunaga (-3) <- arrogance, sports (? kinda), perhaps not dislike for animals, but hunting may occur Masamune (-3) <- sports (? again, kinda. Life with him may bring in accidentally doing sports), loud sounds (he isn’t necessarily loud, but his life is busy and may be fairly loud at times), people who follow way too much their emotion (and here it gets funny. Because he does the exact opposite until he physically can’t anymore; generally, he sometimes makes choices based on what he thinks is best, even if it’s not rational) Mitsuhide (-1) <- may come across as arrogant at times
2nd Summary:
Ieyasu (+5) Shingen (+5) Masamune (+4) Nobunaga (+1) Mitsuhide (+1) Yukimura (+1) Kenshin (+1) Hideyoshi (+1)
Tumblr media
Masamune (+4) <- violence Nobunaga (+1) <- violence Mitsuhide (+1) <- violence Kenshin (+1) <- possessiveness Hideyoshi (+1) <- may fall into “mother knows best” mindset
Now, to clarify for violence: I crossed out the suitors who do expose their partners to some level of violence, even if it does not come from them (well, aside from Masamune, who although does not kill MC this one time, was close to; Nobunaga - treating her as bait and then hurting person while she watched; Mitsuhide - you can never be guaranteed that being with him wouldn’t involve having to kill somebody + he’s a torturer).
Tumblr media
Oh no. I feel that first one. Don’t look for excuses if you want to be mean, right?
That being said, I think that Ieyasu does something somewhat similar - with his “you’re weak, that’s why I’m saying this”. It’s not the same, but there are plenty contradictions in the way he speaks about matters.
Ieyasu (-1)
Tumblr media
Oh, I believe Shingen would be impressed by that first ability, haha. Also, high five, hypermobile club, haha.
Shingen (+1)
Tumblr media
Thanks for joining in the fun and I hope you’ve had a (...Or will have, this will be scheduled for 8AM my time...) day :D
Final Ranking
Shingen (+6) Ieyasu (+4) Yukimura (+1)
Shingen
Confessed first:  It’s hard to say, as it was part of the mind game you were both playing. Whether he meant if or not just then still remains a secret - one Shingen refuses to share.
Makes tea in the morning: Shingen
Hogs blankets at night: Shingen
Is the little spoon:  Most often, you. However, when his body reminds him of his past struggles with health and pain strikes him, you may switch.
Possible points for conflict: Him being dismissive of his health issues and overworking himself.
Free time ideas:  Trying to raise his bear-pet to be as independent as possible, training said bear; sharing sweets along tea in the garden, during evening
Favourite date spot:  Not so much a spot, but a more general location: the woods where you both oftentimes went on the walks. It’s never possible to predict what exactly you’d see there and it’s a rather peaceful place overall.
A secret you share: You sometimes sneak some sweets to Shingen. So far, you’ve been extremely successful at claiming it was Sasuke who did it.
His favourite thing about you:  How gentle and caring you are towards animals and humans alike.
His message to you:  “I love watching your hands work as you treat your patients. It’s a harsh work... And yet you stay so kind. It’s trully admirable.”

YUM I love this btw, looking forward to these Qs! I finally found my post here on my MC fact file if interested!
Now for the good kush stuff
She gets on really well with all of them tbf, even the more ‘prickly’ ones *cough* *cough* LUCIFER *cough* lmao
But she still needs a bit of time to forgive Belphie...
Her sunny disposition and positive attitude, coupled with a stubbornness means that she won’t back down/give up on them if they push her away. If she had to choose who she gets along with the best, probably Beel, Mammon and lowkey Asmo, because she understands him better than most. But it’s still a really tough call, because she sees them all as family sm.
She lovveess Beel lol, he’s so kind and gentle which goes well with her more fiery side, and she has so much fun with Mammon and Asmo - Mammon’s always up for anything crazy, wild and fun, and Asmo is the best to turn to for fashion, make up, gossip and advice!
However she weirdly gets on very well with Lucifer. She knows when to leave him alone and when he needs pushing. She’s very balanced, fair and persuasive so he has a hard time not meeting her requests lol. Her best boi still probs Beel though, they’re opposite and alike, she can EAT lmao loves competitive sports but hates running lmao so it’s a fun dynamic between them because he is, above all else, like her rock <3
She is the momma bear and the one everyone goes to for advice, so all the boys need her for something one time or another. She probably fights the most with Lucifer when too proud, or Asmo in general but sisters fight lmao ;)
She really feels for Satan, and similarly with Asmo she understands him better than most do. She has such high respect for his attitude towards learning and is one of her favourite things about him. She’s more patient with Levi than the others, and may not share many of the same interests but she likes finding common ground with good anime or going swimming - and loves being able to boost his confidence any chance she gets! I do think she’d really get along well with Belphie, once she’s willing to give him a chance...
I really went to town on this one question i am so sorry hahah XD - same question for you though - Who does Izumi get along best with and why? As well as - who did Izumi notice first in a romantic light?

Apprentice Morgan (The Arcana)
Decided I’d do this questionnaire I saw floating around in order to nail down some more details about my fan apprentice for The Arcana, Morgan. For the record, they’re a grumpy nerd who exists in the same canon as @fairysealmother‘s apprentice Amalthea; Morgan’s on Asra’s route, Amalthea is on Julian’s.
Part 1.) Characterization. Use these questions as a way to flesh out some of your character’s personality, background, likes/dislikes, etc.
Their surname?  Reid.
Halloween costume? They’d complain the entire time about dressing up being a hassle and then show up in a pirate costume that they’ve lovingly handmade.
Familiar/animal friend? If they had one, it would be a fox, but at the moment they don’t have one.
Big spoon or little spoon?
Little spoon almost always.
Religious?
Not particularly. They’d describe themselves as spiritual--as in they believe there’s something out there--but not religious per se.
Favorite fruit?
They’re really fond of orange-flavored things.
Idea of a nice date?
Shutting the shop for a day, going on a long walk on the beach and just talking/playing in the waves, shopping for dinner food on the way back, making and eating a nice dinner together, reading together/falling asleep together.
Favorite season?
Fall. Morgan loves fall more than almost anything else.
When is their Birthday?
August 21
Favorite carnival ride?
They love rollercoasters but also can only go on the scary ones once and curse the entire time.
Favorite emoji?
(ง'̀-'́)ง
Like to do in their free time?
They usually will either be reading extensively, re-organizing the shop, or taking walks outside.
What sports would they play?
I feel like they’d like soccer quite a bit. Wouldn’t be very good at it, though. They’d like Tae Kwon Do or a similar martial art.
What kind of car would they drive?
Some old beat-up car they got used and very carefully take care of. But they prefer to walk.
How do they treat their significant other when they’re feeling unusually affectionate?
Very clingy out of nowhere, going out of their way to do nice things for them/get them what they like, very flustered when confronted by any of this.
Favorite manga?
Gotta say they’d like Boku no Hero Academia.
Main store to shop for clothes (if they lived in our world)?
Secondhand stores where they can get used-but-not-too-used jeans, cargo pants, and t-shirts
What were they like growing up?
They were a pretty rowdy kid. Their grandmother, the prior owner of their shop, looked after them, but a lot of the time they were fending for themselves, which contributed to their prickly, abrasive attitude and defensiveness.
What kind of drunk are they at a party?
Affectionate sappy drunk. Anyone who points this out once they’re sober will see full Flustered And Angry Morgan.
Reaction to someone telling a dirty joke?
Depending on the level of the joke and at whose expense it is, either an eyeroll, a snicker, or righteous outrage.
Reaction to stubbing their toe?
Loud and profuse cursing.
Favorite color?
Purple
Favorite See’s chocolate?
Anything with toffee
Favorite poptart flavor?
S’mores
Favorite hobby?
Either going for long walks or sewing, which they picked up out of necessity and continued because it was cathartic.
How they sing at karaoke parties?
Well, but only under great duress. Very hard to get them to the mic but they can belt pretty much any song you give them.
Preferred social media platform?
Probably twitter
Opinion on puns?
Every time they hear one you can see them go through the five stages of grief.
How do they typically deal with their problems?
Their usual thought process is “well time to talk to Nobody about this Ever and repress it for the rest of my life”. However, if it is one of their friends’ problems, they will do anything to fix it, usually in a rather belligerent manner.
Spice girl nickname?
I have no idea unfortunately.
Personal hygiene routine?
They shower every day or every other day depending on time, wash their hands often because they work with a lot of different herbs and resins in the shop and some of them aren’t good to have lingering around. They try to look put-together but not very fancy.
Favorite alcoholic drink?
Total sucker for hard lemonade
Favorite genre of music?
Punk rock
Modern AU job/career?
Either they would do what they do in Vesuvia, which is run an apothecary, or they’d be a queer activist. Or both.
Favorite musical?
They’ll say it’s American Idiot but in reality they’re a huge sap and love Wicked.
How would they celebrate their significant other’s birthday?
Waking up/going out early to get their favorite food for breakfast, closing the shop for the day and spending it with them instead; going out of their way to do nice things and make things easier for them. Nothing huge or dramatic or showy, but they’ll make sure that person is happy for the entire day.
Would they rather turn into a tiny rhinoceros or a giant hamster?
Tiny rhinoceros.
What would they do for their significant other for Valentine’s Day?
Similarly to their birthday, but given that there’s two-way spoiling on Valentine’s Day they get very flustered and blush a lot whenever they’re complimented/something is done for them .
Pros and cons to having them as a roommate?
Pros: Cleans things up quickly and well, will clean up your stuff, will go out of their way to help you if they like you, good at fixing things
Cons: Will clean your stuff sometimes when you don’t want them to; will bottle up all emotions and then end up sobbing on your shoulder at 3am.
On a scale from 1-10 how Extra are they?
They’d say a three but instead they’re closer to a six or seven. Compared to some of the other cast, though, that’s nothing.
Favorite meme?
Morgan is wholeheartedly a fan of “Thanks, I hate it.”
Favorite three pokemon?
Umbreon, Blaziken, Lucario
How tall are they?
Pretty short (5′4″)
Part 2.) Scaling. Using your best judgement, where does your fan apprentice fall on these scales?
[Example: Shortest to tallest?
Portia, Asra, [MC name here], Nadia, Lucio, Julian, Muriel]
Most to least superstitious?
Portia, Julian, Nadia, Lucio, Morgan, Asra, Muriel

About
『 Seung-ri Moon / Male MC 』
Name: Seung-ri Moon
文 (Moon) [Family/last name, meaning: writing] 승리 (Seung-ri) [Given name, meaning: victory]
Age: 21
Birthday: April 7th
Gender/Sex: Male
Occupation: RFA Party Coordinator
Height: 5′8″
Hair: Short, wavy/messy, brown, often in his eyes.
Eyes: Brown.
Physique: A bit thin and lanky.
Scars: Read after note at the very bottom. TW: abuse.
Personality/Attitude: He’s a very easygoing, laid back, go-with-the-flow kind of person. While he is quite lazy, Seung-ri has a good heart and a kind, caring personality. A bit of a forced optimist, he’s like a ray of sunshine on the exterior. He’s very friendly and open.
However, Seung-ri has other sides to him, depending on the situation, and while he may seem laid back, he is very stubborn. Seung-ri never gives up on what he wants. He is very determined.
Skills/Talents: Seung-ri is something of a lazy bum, devoid of most talent, but he has a few key talents. One of these is, of course, his skills at coordinating the RFA parties, which reveals the fact that he is very good with people. He’s also a very happy person, generally, and can bring a smile to almost anyone’s face, so another talent of his is making people happy. He can also cook, and sleep excessive amounts. If sleeping were a competitive sport, Seung-ri would be a champion.
Flaws/weaknesses: He has no real goals or direction in life. He doesn’t know when to give up or let go, even when it hurts him. He’s extremely pessimistic about his past and very insecure about himself. He has confidence, but lacks self esteem, usually trying to brush it off when it becomes noticeable. As stated before, he sleeps excessive amounts and lives a very slothful life, though he seems content that way.
Favourites/Likes:
Food- Seung-ri loves food in general. He eats excessive amounts. However, he has a particular liking for rice.
Animal- Pandas! They sleep and eat all day, just like him! Plus they’re cute!
Music Genre- Anything upbeat and happy, his playlists are a very good pick-me-up
Movie Genre- Romcoms
Color- Beige.
Most Hated/Dislikes: His mother. His body.
Fears: Being alone.
Religion/Beliefs: None, but he does believe in a God.
Sexual Preference: Bisexual
Background/history:
Seung-ri was the only child his mother had at a young age, out of wedlock. He never knew his father. Seung-ri was seen as a burden by his mother, who was very mentally unstable, and was physically abused until the age of 16, when his aunt took him in. She was much kinder than his mother, but distant. He was able to graduate from high school. He moved out and got a job that barely supported his living needs before being lead to Rika’s apartment and joining the RFA, after which he promptly quit his job.
Relationships with the RFA:
Saeyoung Choi: [Note: Saeyoung is my main ship with Seung-ri. However, I am very selective with Saeyoung roleplayers.]
Seung-ri gets along very well with Saeyoung, despite the fact that Saeyoung initially convinced the entire RFA that he was a woman. He jokes and flirts a lot with him before they get closer.
Jaehee Kang: He is friendly with Jaehee and supportive of her.
Jumin Han: He is also very friendly toward Jumin and happy to tease Zen with him on the rare occasions when Jumin does so. He respects him a lot, though he’s a little intimidated by him.
Yoosung Kim: He’s good friends with Yoosung, but teases him often, and often refers to him affectionately as “cute puppy Yoosung”.
Zen / Ryu Hyun: He enjoys teasing Zen. Unsure of his relationship with Zen after Zen was devastated upon finding out that Seung-ri is not, in fact, a girl.
V / Jihyun Kim (past): He was friendly with V and often told Yoosung he was being too hard on him.
V / Jihyun Kim (post): ??? Distrustful.
Rika: He hates her for everything she’s done.
Saeran (past): He wasn’t ever very afraid of this “Unknown” person, as Seung-ri is fearless to a fault.
Saeran (post): He dotes on him constantly and almost acts like his mother. He’s very affectionate toward him and refers to him as his “brother-in-law”.
Who I ship him with: Saeyoung Choi, mainly, but I also ship him with Jumin, Jaehee, Yoosung, Saeran, and Zen. However, unless specified that you would like to ship, his partner is Saeyoung.
Family:
Mother (status: alive) ...
Father (status: ???)
Sister (status: alive, 5 years old) Doesn’t know she exists in most roleplays.
Aunt (status: alive) Out of contact.
Scars (cont.): [TW, abuse]
He has very prominent burn scars on his thighs from his mother sitting him on a stove as a child. He will not allow his thighs to be seen unless he trusts someone completely.
A few memes I’ve done about him with extended info (WARNING: NSFW AHEAD) Also, the grammar on these is much less official my apologies! The information still rings true.:

Preferred mode of dress and rituals surrounding dress: Two words: Oversized sweaters. But he also likes lots of layers. His favorite colors to wear are earthy and neutral colors.
Favorite beverage?: Coffee.
What do they think about before falling asleep at night?: Probably something stupid. Like if plants have feelings.
Turn-ons? Turn-offs?: Turn ons- good sense of humor, dependable, likes napping with him
Turn offs: ??????
Unless you mean sexual. Then he really likes biting and eye contact. And pet play. And bondage in general- Overstimulation and orgasm denial are wonderful.
Given a blank piece of paper, a pencil, and nothing to do, what would happen?: PANDA DOODLES
Is there one subject of study that they excel at? Or do they even care about intellectual pursuits at all?: He doesn't care about intellectual pursuits, but he's fairly good at everything. A jack of all trades, master of none.
How do they see themselves 5 years from today?: He prefers to live in the present, but he probably has plans with his romantic partner of course.
What is their biggest regret?: Never telling anyone about what his mother did to him as a child.

How do they express love?: SO MUCH PHYSICAL AFFECTION. He wants to cuddle and kiss and nap with you. But he'll also cook for you. He's dedicated and stubborn.
If this person were to get into a fist fight, what is their fighting style like?: Flailing around and trying to run????
NSFW AHEAD!!!!!
Headcanon Game - A to Z (NSFW) A = Aftercare (What they’re like after sex):
After sex, Seung-ri is really cuddly, but he pretty much falls asleep instantly after he decides you're finished.
B = Body part (Their favourite body part of theirs and also their partner’s):
His favorite body part of his??? That's a hard one. Probably his butt. Saeyoung is his main partner, and unsurprisingly, Saeyoung's ass is also his favorite.
C = Cum (Anything to do with cum basically… I’m a disgusting person):
He actually doesn't like the taste of cum. He doesn't like it when people cum in his mouth so he avoids it.
D = Dirty Secret (Pretty self explanatory, a dirty secret of theirs)
He saved pics of Saeyoung in drag from the chatroom and regularly masturbates to them. Nasty boy.
E = Experience (How experienced are they? Do they know what they’re doing?)
For this, it usually depends on the rp. But Seung-ri has had sex before. He definitely knows what he's doing.
F = Favourite Position (This goes without saying. Will probably include a visual)
Receiving partner on top/riding. Whether he's giving or receiving, he likes the receiving partner on top. He can be in the mood for other positions though.
G = Goofy (Are they more serious in the moment, or are they humorous, etc)
It depends on who he's with. He's usually serious though. With Saeyoung, he makes occasional jokes.
H = Hair (How well groomed are they, does the carpet match the drapes, etc.)
He likes to keep it totally bare. Often shaves his arms and legs, too. Fuckin gay.
I = Intimacy (How are they during the moment, romantic aspect…)
He's very romantic. He greatly prefers romantic sex. Lots of kisses, lots of gentle loving touches.
J = Jack Off (Masturbation headcanon)
He likes to masturbate with toys when he's less lazy. In that case, his favorite is a vibrator but. Usually he's too lazy to use his toys. Like. 90% of his faps happen just because he's bored.
K = Kink (One or more of their kinks)
Pet play. Eye contact. Bondage. Cross dressing. Overstimulation. Orgasm denial.
L = Location (Favourite places to do the do)
In bed. He loves beds.
M = Motivation (What turns them on, gets them going)
Uh. His partners turn him on, really.
N = NO (Something they wouldn’t do, turn offs)
Hurting his partners, having his partners hurt him. Choking, spanking.
O = Oral (Preference in giving or receiving, skill, etc)
He prefers receiving oral but is always willing to give. He's a little clumsy but loves gagging so he'll get very into it. His enthusiasm makes up for his clumsiness.
P = Pace (Are they fast and rough? Slow and sensual? etc.)
It depends entirely on the mood. He prefers slow and sensual.
Q = Quickie (Their opinions on quickies rather than proper sex, how often, etc.)
Doesn't like them. Only when absolutely necessary.
R = Risk (Are they game to experiment, do they take risks, etc.)
He's always willing to experiment if nobody gets hurt.
S = Stamina (How many rounds can they go for, how long do they last…)
THIS BOY. THIS BOY JUST KEEPS GOING. He's evil. He won't give you a break. He goes for quite a few rounds before he's satisfied.
T = Toy (Do they own toys? Do they use them? On a partner or themselves?)
Yes, he owns toys. He has a vibrator and an ordinary dildo. The vibrator is remote control.
He'd definitely use toys on his partners. Especially a remote control vibrator in public or something. Nasty nasty. Or putting a vibrator on the highest setting in his partner and kicking back and watching a movie while they suffer. HE'S EVIL. Don't give him reason to "punish" you.
U = Unfair (how much they like to tease)
A TON. HE LIKES TO TEASE WAY TOO MUCH. IT SHOULDN'T BE LEGAL.
V = Volume (How loud they are, what sounds they make)
It depends on his partner and what position he's in and where they're at and how comfortable he is. It can range from quiet moans to fuckin screams
W = Wild Card (Get a random headcanon for the character of your choice)
He has a thing for those buttplugs with the little tails on them. So cute.
X = X-Ray (Let’s see what’s going on in those pants, picture or words)
...What????? Do you mean how big he is or? I'd say Seung-ri's a good 6 inches, good thickness. He's not crazy hung but he's p good.
Y = Yearning (How high is their sex drive?)
It depends but it can be VERY high or he doesn't wanna have sex for months because he's too lazy. If you offer to do all the work he'll always say yes though.
Z = ZZZ (… how quickly they fall asleep afterwards)
He'll get comfortable and then INSTANTLY. Boom. Asleep.
MORE MAY OR MAY NOT BE ADDED IN THE FUTURE.
