can we form a coup against asagiri and make you the writer instead? genuinely... I am not taking the Fyodor immortal information well.. please help............................ ( ´,_ゝ` )
Oh, I would absolutely not do BSD well either. I just wish Asagiri had stuck to his roots more. He was a great comedy writer, and the beginning of the story was great for it. It's the action and Death Note stuff he can't seem to get mastery of. But for the immortal part: I'm not entirely sold that Fyodor's immortal, yet. It seems like yet another twists that will twist to reveal oh, shocker, he faked his memories to confuse Sigma/the ADA... or something. Could very well be immortal, but not 100% guaranteed.
#bsd#anon#I still support his right to write his story however he wants#and a lot of people seem to enjoy this sort of shock-value shounen writing he's doing now#I just happen to hate that sort of story#so when BSD pivoted to that I was dragged along into it because of Fyodor and Nikolai#and get salty whenever characters who own a part of my heart and soul are subjected to bad shock writing#and yes I know the version of them that I love the most exist within my own perception#and are a product of the years I've spent working on and developing them for my own stories#but I still love and adore the originals too#and so it's painful and irritating#because the characters are no longer the main focus of the story#it's all about the shock... the next biggest thing#Nikolai's doesn't have a motive to be the ferryman I need to get all the characters in the same place/start the next arc? No problem!#he just wants to kill Fyodor now. problem solved.#how did he use his Ability to get Sigma to France when his Ability only travels 30m at a time?#eh don't worry about it. I made an omake about it so you know I know it's an absolute joke#Nikolai's whole character and Ability practically changed just for convenience... for the story and shock#so as a fan of character-based stories it hurts that sometimes characters just aren't respected at all#with Fyodor I know it's more a case of Asagiri's vision of him seems to have changed as the story progressed#in that realm I'm so happy that BSD is serialised because it means I still have the initial version of Fyodor that I loved with all my hear#when I really can't stand Meursault!Fyodor at all and wish he would just die already so I could be fully free

yandere february event day 20
“Hopeless? You think I’m hopeless? Sweetheart. Pigeon. Dove. Don’t you see that you’re the one caged here?”
Tumblr media
nikolai is unpredictable, if nothing else. after all the time you’ve spent with him, that's the only conclusion you’ve reached. his mind was an utter labyrinth. even when you understood his goals and motivations, he constantly changed his course of action, purposefully taking measures that often hurt even himself just for the sake of not being bound to anything. anything seeming to include logic.
you knew from the beginning that his obsession with freedom would affect the decisions he made, and you kept careful note of that while attempting to see through him. appealing to that everytime you wanted to get something out of him. you analyzed his behaviors and actions carefully, doing your best to stay alive anytime working for fyodor meant working with him. your algorithms seemed to hold up. while not 100% accurate in his choices, you were able to keep yourself afloat.
however it seemed there was one factor you never calculated. love. you never deemed it necessary. to speculate how nikolai would respond to romance given his hatred for being bound by emotions. but now you really wish you had. maybe if you had, you would’ve even been able to convince him the best solution to rid himself of any controlling emotions would be to simply leave the object of his desire alone. but it’s much too late for that.
you winced as the bird cage swung with your movement. sure, it was hung only a few inches from the ground, but the swaying wasn’t any more pleasant. your hands gripped the iron bars for some semblance of stability, it just barely helped you regain your balance. once settled, you only frowned, turning to look at nikolai. despite him having been in the room since you first regained consciousness, you had yet to say anything to him, and him to you. he has only been watching you in silence thus far. perhaps he was waiting for you to speak first.
“gogol. why am i here?”
“aw, are we not on a first name basis anymore? why the sudden change?”
“you didn't answer my question. why am i here?”
“hm, as prudent as ever it seems. very well then! let’s play a game! i’ll answer any of your questions except your first one. and you have to use the other answers you receive to piece together why you’re here! sounds fun, right?”
knowing nikolai, you didn’t have much of a choice. if you wanted any answers at all, your only hope was to play along.
“fine then.” you grimaced “are you the one who put me here?”
“yes, i am!”
“does fyodor know i’m here?”
nikolai frowned at that question, like bringing up someone else’s name had soured his mood. he answered it anyways.
“no. i’m the only one aware of your location.”
“do you plan on letting me out…?”
“hmmm.. maybe one day! but you have to be on very good behavior~!”
“so you kidnapped me.” you frowned.
“ding ding ding!! you got it! and in only three questions too, good job!!” nikolai cheered.
“but, why?”
“you stole my heart! it’s only fair.”
“...what.”
“that’s right! your charms tangled me in a web of emotion, trapped me like a fly! naturally, this got in the way of my freedom. so at first i was just going to kill you! but the thought alone broke my heart into a million little pieces and i realized that if i killed you i’d only be chained down by my own grief. so, what else could i do? then it hit me! i’ll simply take you! you can’t imprison me if i imprison you first! so now, even if you have my heart, i have you! problem solved!”
“so you got a crush and your response was to lock me away? you really are a hopeless fool chasing a useless pipe dream.” you glared at nikolai, finally voicing your thoughts on his little fantasy.
“hopeless? you think i’m hopeless? sweetheart. pigeon. dove. don’t you see that you’re the one caged here?” nikolai grinned at you, leaning in close to the bars of the cage. “that’s fine though. i appreciate your sacrifice. thank you for lending me your freedom.”

🎃Spooky Month Games Recommendations Part 2💀
As before, the recommendations go under the cut because the post is long.
Part 1 is located here
Don't Hide is still a demo, but it is a delightful yandere visual novel that has a lot of potential!
It starts off where you've just escaped from the house you're being held captive in and now must try to get out of the surrounding forest. The only problem is... it's cold and you have no idea where you are. You can run, but you don't know the forest well. You can hide (although the title says not to... perhaps with good reason.) So what do you do? Well, you can face ??? head on and see where it gets you! ??? seems calm and fairly gentle at first, but if you make the wrong move things can definitely get horrific. (By the by, did you notice that conveniently placed stick behind him? Now you did. Whatever move you make is your decision, but I will say "good luck")
Obviously I recommend reading the content warnings because when things take a turn for the worse, it can be a little shocking. (Content warnings include: kidnapping, stalking, obsessive behavior, mild body horror and awkward situations. Discretion is advised.)
While Purple is still a demo, the full release is fast approaching.
It a RPG Maker horror game about a young man named Randall Purpura who returns home to his apartment in a dangerous part of Los Angeles after an extended stay in the hospital (due to unknown reasons) and finds that his aunt and uncle seem to be missing.
After returning, Randall ends up meeting his new neighbor, Mya, and quickly becomes friends with her. He also gets a chance to meet his other neighbor further down the hall who is rarely home.
As the game goes on, you must solve puzzles and unlock the mysteries of Randall's past while trying to not get killed.
The game has quite a few content warnings, so I do recommend checking them out. But it is one that I have been eagerly awaiting the full release of for a while and its spooky atmosphere makes it a great game to play during October.
Rot With Me is more of a WIP than a demo, but it's another horror visual novel that features an obsessive (possibly yandere) antagonist.
It starts off where you take a hike in the woods and end up coming across a strange manor. In an effort to get out of the rain, you decide to take refuge in there and meet the charming-yet-unsettling owner.
Depending on your choices, you can get one of six endings. But, be warned, the beautiful man Fyodor does not want you to leave and he will try to make you stay... one way or another. (And, depending on your choices, you may even meet another character. But I won't spoil it if you want to play the VN for yourself.)
Obviously, due to the disturbing content within the game (Blood, gore, possessive tendencies, implied cannibalism, and allusions to stockholme syndrome) it is intended for an 18+ audience.
The Count Lucanor is a horror-survival RPG based loosely on The Tales of Count Lucanor. and it follows a young boy named Hans who leaves home in search of fortune and adventure.
He comes across a little blue Kobold (Patronio) who lures him to Tenebre castle where he must solve puzzles and get through the Count's test in order to walk away with the Count's fortune. You may even uncover the mystery of Tenebre Castle.
There are 5 different endings and man subplots. It is a delightfully fun horror game by the same studio that made Yuppie Psycho (which I have not finished yet, but wholly recommend as well as long as you are 18+ and have a stomach for disturbing imagery)
The Count Lucanor does contain blood, death, gore and disturbing imagery. But it's a really fun little spooky game, and if you like scary fairy tale-like stories then I wholly recommend it!
I only very recently played Reouija Sleepover but it is quite good.
The game itself is about a trans man named Aiden who has a crush on his friend, Dan, and invites him over one night for a movie night. But when he finds a ouija board in the trash... things take a turn for the worse.
The real horror starts out when their surroundings change to a place that looks like Aiden's apartment building, but covered in walls of gore and flesh instead. It's pretty gross, and things get even worse from there. There are 5 endings, three of which where Dan can die. For the entire game, there does seem to both be a sense of bleakness and urgency, and it becomes more apparent when the antagonist is revealed.
It's a 16+ game that does feature blood, gore, and themes of cannibalism (and some transphobia). It's all very well done, and this game certainly resonated with me (whether it's because I'm trans or because I just really liked the characters and setting... I'm not entirely sure, but it did definitely have an emotional impact on me.)
This game is perfect for the Spooky Season!
(There will be a part 3 coming of my spooky game recommendations! Hopefully before Halloween xD I think part 3 will be the last, and it will also have some of my nostalgic faves on there~)

Bsd CHAPTER 101
Spoilers
After reading the chapter I just wanna say that in my opinion this plan of Dazai to drown Fyodor and chuuya is NOT an asesination attempt. Is to retrieve information. If you read the chapter, it’s pretty obvious that even when the water in increasing, Fyodor stays calm, he even says something like “you can’t kill me” with a complete blank expression and it’s only after Dazai taunts him that Fyodor looks angry. And it seems more like the kind of anger you have because you were forced to make a move you didn’t want to. So, what do I think? Information is everything, Dazai makes a whole point of saying that the part with more information is the one that will win by default. Here we have two important points we know nothing about.
1: Fyodor’s ability: Thing is, we as a fandom have headcanon that Fyodor can kill those he thinks of as “guilty” because it makes sense based on what we’ve seen but just like Dazai says, this is purely an assumption based on observations. We don’t really know what Fyodor’s ability really consists of.
And second and more important point (because honestly I also don’t think that Fyodor’s ability will get them out of it, even if it’s a possibility)
2. WE DONT KNOW HOW FYODOR IS COMMUNICATING WITH THE OUTSIDE. This is one of the most important part in this prison duel. We now know that Dazai is using a prisoner ability to receive messages, so it’s highly probable that Fyodor is also using someone from the prison. And depending of what he is using, that could also be used as a tool to get out of the water.
The third option would be chuuya himself, but honestly I don’t think that’s the answer. Using chuuya is an objective good decision for a lot of reasons but it does have one disadvantage. There’s NO ONE that knows chuuya’s ability better than Dazai. My guy literally broke in a laboratory and got Rimbaud’s diary of God knows where at sixteen because he wanted chuuya’s information. This plan is perfect taking into account chuuya’s ability (he’d really have a problem using gravity over the water) and I don’t think that the answer is corruption. I do think that he will use it but not now and not for this. We can’t just discard Chuuya though, soukoku panels at the end seem to have some kind of symbolism. And chuuya definitely seems to have gained some consciousness at the end of it, there’s also the possibility that there is a code message in the sappy discourse of Dazai.
Fourth option is Nikolai but I don’t think that he will intervene just yet.
I also think this is not the end because of Dazai’s choice, why choose sigma if he could solve all of this on his own? Dazai is good at this, he is brilliant, he always has a plan. We all know this and repeat this as some kind of mantra every week but thing is I usually think that fandom forgets that “he is brilliant” and “he always has a plan” are sentences that also apply to Fyodor. In the whole story there’s not a single instance in which Dazai has had an absolute victory over Fyodor. Like, maybe if we think of Dead Apple but just like in this case, I don’t think that Fyodor was trying seriously. He didn’t use any of his best weapons there, I think that the whole Dead Apple incident was to get the information he needed for the current arc. And like I said, we only have to see Fyodor’s reaction, he only said “this is bad” He wasn’t really angry or in desperation. I firmly believe he has a plan.
So no, I don’t think this specific plan is to kill Dostoyevsky but to gain information about his ability or about how he is communicating with the exterior that will give Dazai an advantage. Thanks for coming to my Ted talk

Gender: Female
Race: Human
Ethnicity: Faerghal and Srenghalreg
Age: 38, died in 1167
Birthday: 20th day of the Garland Moon 1129
Height: 5'4
Family:
Fyodor Artemi (Younger brother)
Rufus Cassius Blaiddyd (Lover)
Emyr Artemi Blaiddyd
Yekaterina Deryn Blaiddyd
Residence: Samara (formally); Castell Itha
Title: Countess of Samara
Faction: Holy Kingdom of Faerghus
Basic Backstory
Eldest daughter to the Count of Samara with a younger brother who is 4 years her junior
Samara is a small, but powerful, trading County (city-state) which sits on the river throat between all the major trading routes of the Nothern Faerghus
Other lords around Samara are always trying to fold the stupidly rich city into their own borders
Darya's mother was originally from Sreng while her father was the step-son and chosen heir to the last Count
Darya was given one of the highest quality educations available in Faerghus between the County library, the Fhirdiad School of Magic, the Officers Academy, and studying in Embarr for a time
She's intelligent, very well read, and an avid writer/artist. The ultimate conversationalist
Her brother is named heir to Samara in 1147 after he reaches an age where death in childhood finally goes way down
Darya feels cheated out of her birthright due to her putting in the work while Fyodor continued to be utterly unconcerned with ruling effectively
Their father favored Imperial mindsets towards primogenuture (as well as being partially raised in the Empire so has their cultural views towards women) and thus wouldn't budge
Her mother even tries to convince their father to switch favor to her instead, but to no avail
She goes to the Officers Academy when she's 15 years old in 1147
She first meets Rufus as they're in the same class and form a friendship while at the school and maintained occasional contact in the years afterward
When she was 22, Fyodor had her temporarily banished because he feared she would be a threat to his power
This only fueled her hatred of him as she had to take up residence in Fraldarius with a friend of hers
Darya continues with her studies in the intervening years while secretly holding aspirations for the County seat
She begins her programs for attentively listening to the people through reading their letters and finding ways to solve complaints. It's a small thing but it's what she could do to address their concerns with power in the hands of her brother
Returns to Samara at 26 at Fyodor's request so she can help him solve numerous problems due to his neglect of Samara
Headways new waste management and food programs for the citizenry, makes a suggestion for a Council of the Guilds to be created to aid them in ruling, but Fyodor rejects the idea outright
Meets Rufus at the age of 29 (Wyvern Moon IY 1158) during his diplomatic trip to Samara. She held far more interest in Rufus now due to the political machinations she's seen for the past 12 years
Darya came to him late in the night and invited him for drinks in the private lounge, he was not prepared for her wit and political aspirations
Darya and Rufus craft a plot to kill Fyodor and place her as Coutess and vassalize Samara to Itha
They developed an actual friendship in the intervening months of planning and just casual conversations. Rufus made it a point to travel to Samara rather regularly just to see Darya in person
Fyodor even had the idea to try and set up a marriage between Darya and Rufus just to get her out of Samara
Their actual relationship begins during the Guardian Moon of 1158 and Darya is pregnant with Emyr by early Lone Moon IY 1158
Rufus almost proposes after she becomes pregnant, but Darya (and Rufus for that matter) genuinely has no wish to get married despite how much she does love him
That and any official recognition of their relationship should be after they go through with the assassination
Feels marriage will just ruin their relationship and wants to commit to him without that straining expectation
Fyodor learns of the plot and has a chat with Rufus to try and intimidate him out of going through with it. Rufus decides that he needs to act to protect himself, his lover, and his child
In 1158 LM, Fyodor is killed by Rufus during a hunting trip and Darya is made Countess of Samara
1159 EM, Darya moves to Castell Itha permanently live with Rufus and raise their son together
Darya and Rufus continue to work together improving Itha and Samara in tandem
Darya begins the tradition of receiving and responding to letters personally all across the Grand Dutchy, so that she and Rufus are aware of and can quickly solve problems
They create the first Council together modeled after the Alliance and the long defunct Senate of Adrestia
She helps to patron the arts of Itha & Samara and aids in developing the new magic techniques to making growing crops extremely easy even in the north
Aids Rufus in father consolidation through diplomacy and conspiracy
1167 Darya's health begins to fail as she continues through her second pregnancy
Rufus tried everything under the sun to heal her but to no avail
Much speculation surrounds her sudden bout of illness, but it's never discovered if foul play was involved
Darya passes away not long after giving birth to Katya
Personality
Despite her public face as Countess of Samara, Darya is known for almost having an air of mystery around her. She's rarely seen without a smile, and is more light-hearted than her position as a Countess would suggest. She believes that the beliefs others, or society at large, can hold is often overly restricting and thus it is often difficult to sway them. Though she is known for tying to do exactly that. Darya is known for being a fluid, witty, and engaging conversationalist. She has an enigmatic air around her and while her friends grow used to it those who she is only acquainted find it alluring or terrifying; although, she'll admit to fostering this intentionally as she enjoys watching people squirm.
As a Coutess, Darya is infallibly polite to whoever she interacts with. But when speaking to close friends, while she maintains her affable demeanor, she shows a blunter and more cynical side to her, and can even come across as a bit selfish. She's known not ro mince words and will tell the truth to those she deems needs to hear it, whatever it may be.
Darya is voracious when it comes to learning all she can about different subjects as she finds that no knowledge is pointless. She also cares much for her people and takes her duties as a leader in Faerghus to be the most important one she has. As Countess, she's not afraid to break tradition and try new avenues of governance should she believe it overall beneficial to the health of her people and state. She is also not above espionage or conspiracy to meet these same ends. Darya is a lover of extravagance and feels the one of the duties of a lord is to share that extravagance with her people. The festivals in Samara as well as her balls both open and closed to the public are renowned in Faerghus.
Other Notes
She has religious beliefs that are a syncretism of the religious of Faerghus and Sreng and she was the one to pass on some ideas to Emyr while she was still alive
She actively tried to make friends with Rufus' other partners whenever she met them and she was successful a few times
Darya was close friends with Fiachra, but notably never got along with Lady Cecillia
Has a love of sewing, painting, and music

Uff, I didn’t even know that this is the fandom’s canon perception, tbh. Of course, to each their own headcanon, it’s not my intention to take that away from anyone!
~ ~ ~
BSD can be pretty dark, but I don’t think that Asagiri is going for heavy themes like this. I mean, it’s a canon thing that Mori is into little girls under a certain age (which he says so himself), and his whole ability is a hint to that, too. Which of course, is extremely unsettling and a bad thing.
But I don’t think Mori abused Dazai the way e.g. Atsushi was abused by the headmaster.
Tumblr media
There definitely IS a tense and complicated situation between them, and it started with Mori killing the former PM boss in Dazai’s presence. After that, during the events of Fifteen, it seems that their relationship calms down, with Mori even asking Dazai for advice how he can convince the PM members to acknowledge him as their new boss. Quickly after that Dazai gets already promoted, giving him much more free reign and other tasks to be occupied with. But the tension comes up again at the end of Dark Era, where Mori makes it clear that he used Odasaku for his plans. Which then leads to Odasaku’s death, so this is definitely something Dazai won’t forgive him.
.
In the beginning Mori takes it into his own hands to be Dazai’s mentor. The reason for this is probably because Dazai reminds him of himself. I’m sure Dazai learned how to fight and torture people from Mori, despite the fact that he learned military strategies from him as well:
Tumblr media
But the way he reacts to all of this shows that he tries to shake of his past, which includes Mori’s teachings:
Tumblr media
Overall their relationship seems codependent, especially in the beginning. Somehow Mori couldn’t become the new boss without Dazai as witness. Somehow Dazai couldn’t solve the problem the former PM boss posed without Mori. Somehow Mori couldn’t convince all PM members without Dazai’s help. Somehow Dazai just couldn’t leave PM, and so on.
Their close interactions in the past has repercussions in the present day. They both know each other very well, know how the other thinks, what the other would do, what the other is capable of, how much of a threat the other can be (similar to Dazai and Fyodor).
Tumblr media
Mori openly wishes and asks Dazai to come back. Even though he has the complete trust and loyalty of his entire subordinates, and strong and decent ability users like Chuuya and Akutagawa (who don’t need Dazai to pose a threat), or the force of the Black Lizard Group. For some reason, he seems to regret now that Dazai left, even though that was his original plan in Dark Era. He himself says that he doesn’t regret it, but actions speak louder than words.
.
When Mori uses some form of abuse it’s always mental. He uses manipulation or a “mental lock” to get people to do what he wants. This is something Dazai is also capable of, as Kouyou once mentioned:
Tumblr media
We don’t know what kind of deal he and Dazai made to kill the former PM boss. But whatever the reason, back then he already used something to apparently make Dazai agree in whatever they were agreeing.
He also did the same with Yosano: He never abused her physically. But he guilt tripped her and, in that way, pressured her so much that it left a trauma in her:
Tumblr media
It’s still open for debate what Mori did with Q. At the end of Fifteen Q seems rather comfortable in their surroundings. But whatever happened after that, made them think the way they think now. It could’ve been experiments/torture done by Mori, or he could’ve put someone else with that task. That someone maybe could’ve been Dazai.
I don’t think Mori was in need to physically abuse Dazai. Because whatever their origin story may unfold, that already served as mental lock for him. Mori uses manipulation and emotional blackmail, which are also a form of abuse. I’m not a psychologist, but what wikipedia describes fits Mori’s mental tactics very well:
“Emotional blackmailers use fear, obligation and guilt in their relationships, ensuring that others feel afraid to cross them, obligated to give them their way and swamped by guilt if they resist.”
He even does this with Elise, who’s his own ability, to get her to do the things he wants.

King of Hearts
(I meant to have this done in time for Akutagawa’s birthday, but... Oh well. It’s here now, though: the final part of the Wonderland AU! I hope you enjoy ^^)
193: King of Hearts
Thankfully, Atsushi woke before Akutagawa, who had moved in his sleep so that he no longer held the Rabbit’s hand. Atsushi managed to slip back into his room undetected, and the King didn’t appear to know anything about what went on the previous night.
But Atsushi remembered. He remembered every time Akutagawa woke him up during that night, whispering his name, gripping his hand and pulling it to his chest. And that knowledge tore into Atsushi like a knife carving into his skin. At some point or another, he and Akutagawa would need to talk, and he couldn’t put it off any longer.
“Are you alright?”
Atsushi jumped when Akutagawa spoke to him. They walked down the hallway together, side-by-side, as Akutagawa insisted. Atsushi had to stop himself from thinking that that almost made him equal with the King.
“You seem distracted,” Akutagawa said, turning his eyes forward once again. “I’ll… Do my best to solve whatever ails you,” he ended with a murmur, covering his mouth with his hand again and coughing. Atsushi watched him, nervous eyes wide, and behind his back, he clenched and unclenched his hands.
“Would you go on a picnic with me?” He asked shakily.
Akutagawa paused in place, and Atsushi stopped beside him.
“... Pardon?” asked Akutagawa.
Atsushi, tail twitching, took a deep breath. “A picnic,” he repeated, “I’m inviting you to a picnic. I-in the garden.”
Akutagawa paused for a moment. He watched Atsushi, who could practically see the gears turning behind the King’s eyes.
“I suppose… That would be alright,” Akutagawa said, and Atsushi held back a sigh of relief. “Will that ease what bothered you?” At Atsushi’s eager nod, Akutagawa’s shoulders seemed to relax. “Okay.”
For the first time since he arrived at the palace, Atsushi felt a genuine smile on his lips.
Akutagawa arrived precisely when Atsushi asked, which caused the White Rabbit to scramble a little about the picnic blanket.
“I guess I’m so used to being late, I’m surprised when other people show up on time,” he laughed nervously. Akutagawa only nodded, eyeing the scene before him as if he didn’t know what quite to do. Before him, a picnic blanket had been laid out in the castle garden, surrounded by red rose bushes still dripping with paint. On the blanket, Atsushi had set multi-tiered trays filled with biscuits and cupcakes, a platter holding a strawberry cake, and a teapot with its contents still steaming from beneath its lid.
Atsushi sat down, and Akutagawa followed suit, sitting across from him on the blanket.
“How do you like your tea?” Asked Atsushi, pouring him a cup.
Crossing his legs beneath him, Akutagawa murmured. “With a tablespoon of milk. No sugar.”
Atsushi smiled little again. “Really? I have to have sugar, or it’s too bitter for me,” he said as he passed the cup and saucer to him. Akutagawa only nodded, blowing on the tea to cool it, as Atsushi said softly, “It’s rose tea. The cards said it was your favorite.”
Akutagawa nodded again, and even though the hard lines in his face relaxed somewhat when he tasted the tea, he still said nothing.
The silence between them felt tangible. Atsushi found himself fidgeting again, only nibbling idly at his biscuit while Akutagawa sampled everything.
“Sooo,” Atsushi said slowly, earning him a glance from Akutagawa. “Is there… Anything you want to talk about?”
His ears drooped a little when Akutagawa shook his head.
“No need,” he said plainly, passing his cup to Atsushi so he could fill it again. Atsushi offered a thin smile.
“But, well, we haven’t talked much since I got here, and it’s been a while,” he began. “Maybe we should get to know each other better?”
Akutagawa visibly stiffened, and Atsushi flinched so harshly that he nearly dropped the teapot.
“No,” Akutagawa snapped. Atsushi gulped. His instincts told him to run, but with shaking hands, he pushed them down. He couldn’t run from this anymore.
“Your Highness,” Atsushi said, drawing Akutagawa’s attention. Before he could correct him, Atsushi continued, “I have the right to know what I mean to you.”
Akutagawa scowled, but he drew his legs closer as if he was retreating into himself. “Get out,” he growled.
Atsushi set his jaw, trying to appear intimidating, no matter how much his tail twitched with fear. “We are out,” he said firmly. “There’s nowhere for me to go.”
“Go inside then!” Akutagawa roared, snapping his head up and staring him down with dark eyes that burned like coals.
“No!” Atsushi shouted right back. Akutagawa’s eyes widened as if no one had spoken to him that way before, or perhaps he had never expected Atsushi of all people to do so. Nevertheless, the White Rabbit held his ground. “Something’s going on, King Akutagawa! And I demand to know what it is!”
The King stared at him in stunned silence. Letting the rage fall from his eyes, from his lips, Atsushi let out a sigh.
“You can’t just push your problems away every time. Even if you’re afraid, you have to face them head on,” he murmured, looking down at his teacup. Veins of gold wove across it in unpredictable patterns. “Unlike me.”
Silence filled the air again, only broken by the far-off cries of a flamingo in the menagerie.
“What do you mean?”
Atsushi’s ears pricked. He looked up, back at Akutagawa, who watched him with something unknown in his eyes. Atsushi chuckled humorlessly.
“I mean I’m a coward, Your Highness,” he said, a sad smile on his lips. “I should’ve brought this up a long time ago, but I was scared. Terrified. I’ve always been scared of you.”
He could hear the King’s breathing, coming out slowly and hesitantly.
“If what you’ve told me is true,” Akutagawa said, and Atsushi cringed immediately, squeezing his eyes shut, ready and dreading whatever punishment he would receive, “... Then you’re the bravest man I’ve ever met, Atsushi.”
Atsushi froze. He looked up at Akutagawa, wide-eyed, staring at his ruler, who looked more vulnerable than Atsushi had ever thought possible, with his knees shaking and pulled to his chest, his eyes looking down at the ground.
“I’m the coward,” he whispered almost too quietly for Atsushi to hear, his hand covering his mouth. He paused, and still shaking, he murmured again, “Leave.”
Atsushi frowned, setting his jaw. “Ryuunosuke Akutagawa, King of the Land of Hearts,” he said firmly, drawing the King’s eye, “I will not leave you. Not now, not ever.”
Akutagawa stared at him, mouth open, brows twisted in what almost appeared to be pain.
“You may have been hurt in the past,” Atsushi continued to speak, words coming to him almost without his knowledge, “and you may push me away so I don’t see your weaknesses. I get it. That’s why I run so much,” he whispered. He noticed as Akutagawa began pushing trays and platters out of the way with abandon, drawing closer to him with that same expression still on his face, but Atsushi didn’t run.
“Maybe you push people away because they hurt you, and you don’t want to get hurt again. Maybe you kill them to make sure they can’t hurt you anymore,” he said softly.
Porcelain teacups crashed and shattered as Akutagawa knocked Atsushi over, laying him flat on the blanket, his hands on either side of his head. His breath came out raggedly through his open mouth, and his dark, broken eyes looked upon Atsushi with a mix of hope and fear, swirled together into a tempest.
With a single hand, Atsushi reached up, lacing his fingers through the King’s dark hair.
“I’m not going to hurt you,” he whispered.
Gently, slowly, Atsushi rose up onto his elbow, and gently, slowly, he brought Akutagawa’s lips down to meet his.
“What’s this?” Asked Chuuya, frowning at a letter that a penguin had just given to him.
Dazai shrugged as he sipped tea from a teacup so broken that only half of it remained. “An invitation, perhaps?” He looked up as another penguin flew onto the table, presenting the letter in its beak to Dazai. The March Hare smiled. “Oh, I get one too?”
More penguins arrived, despite Shibusawa’s attempts to swat them away with his hat, and Fyodor chuckled. “Looks like we all do.”
Chuuya, meanwhile, stared at the contents of his letter in disbelief. “Already? It’s only been a year…”
Dazai looked at him quizzically, but only for a moment. Then he smiled again, opening his letter, showing the invitation to the rest of the table. “It seems as if the entire kingdom,” he said with a grin, “is invited to the wedding of the White Rabbit and the King of Hearts.”

BSD Chapter 56
Hey there,
I thought someone had done this already so I was planning to skip this month’s writeup but I got a few requests to do it anyway so here I go again. I didn’t want to write too much but it ended up being very lengthy anyway.
Tumblr media
I love this chapter so much, it goes much deeper in Ranpo’s thought and personalities, and the character development of Oguri is really good, enough to turn me from hating him into “protect him” mode lol
As always, my Japanese and English are not perfect and I will make mistakes here and there. Please feel free to correct me if you spot anything. Thank you!
                                                 SPOILERS AHEAD
- The driver takes out a gun to threat Ranpo, saying there are 3 types of passengers (”luggage” is the word he uses though) that he hate most: 1st is one that talks too much, 2nd is ones who causes troubles and 3rd is one who has no money and Ranpo is the combination of all 3 xD. Oguri tells him to put away the gun and keeps driving since Ranpo has no evidences to begin with.
- Turned out Ranpo has put Poe on the phone since the beginning and Poe has called for the cops to stop the car. However the drivers turns out to be an agent of Russia government so the police has to let them go without being able to do anything.
- On the car, Oguri hears the sound of a phone that was left in his car by Ranpo. There is a screen of text and Ranpo’s voice on the other side. Ranpo said he knew from the beginning that it’s Oguri’s victory because “a common man cannot win against an ability user”, but he still has to defeat Oguri this time, because “my colleagues think I’m the best”. (TN: I love this part so muchhhh).
- The passage on the screen is written by Poe and since Oguri has read it, he’s drawn into the setting of the novel by Poe’s ability. He finds himself in the room where Kindaichi was killed. (TN: He always address Kindaichi as “Yokomizo” by the way, showing how close they are). He sees himself being strangled by Kindaichi, who keeps screaming “I hate you, I hate you”. Oguri tries to fight back saying “It’s not like that Yokomizo” (TN: I will go in a bit details because it shows how close the two are).
- At that moment, the Kindaichi illustion disappears and Ranpo appears starting to explain the case. He said the crime scene suggested that it’s a murder by grudge however, according to the way Oguri addresses Kindaichi earlier, he suspects that the two are actually close. Oguri gets back on his sense and says such a trick cannot defeat him because as long as he can declare the truth, he will get out of that space created by Poe’s ability. However, Ranpo tells him, after hearing everything Ranpo says, he will turn himself in for sure.
- We have a flashback of Kindaichi and Oguri discussing about the idea for a mystery novel. It is revealed here that they are friends since they were students, Oguri has always hated mystery (he said if mystery is like a thing for entertainment and if people want puzzles, they should go solve a Math problem lol), while Kindaichi is a mystery maniac (Oguri grows tired of history is because of him too XD). Oguri suggests many types of mystery plots but Kindaichi already knows them all. Kindaichi says he partly understand what Oguri was talking about mystery because no matter how good a mystery is, after it comes out, it will become just a part of a genre and cannot be an “ultimate mystery” etc.
- Back in the case with Ranpo, Oguri tries to confess that he kills Kindaichi so that he can get out of the novel. But Ranpo tells him he’s not the culprit. He says if Oguri is the murderer then everything, from the trick to the intent etc. fit too well, to that extent that it’s like a “script”. He then concludes that the whole Kindaichi murder case is a self-played mystery and that basically Kindaichi has committed suicide, to create a mystery that erodes the real life.
- Another flash back. Kindaichi tells Oguri that he has a cancer and cannot live for another year. And before that he wants to create an ultimate mystery. He has all the preparation done and the only thing missing is a “culprit”, with murderous intent, and asks Oguri to help him with that.
- Back to the scene again, Oguri keeps saying he is the killer because he hates the author and kills him for the script. Ranpo then shows him the last page of the script, saying that there is a mark of water on that page, If it’s for the selling of the script then the culprit must have kept it very carefully, then it can only be made after the script is done or during the murder. He concludes that the culprit was crying when strangling the victim, thus the “murderous intent” of “grudge” has been eliminated. And thus the novel will lose its main purpose and intentions etc. Oguri realizes this just before handing out the script so he has to copy the last page in a rush, all to fulfill his friend’s last wish.
- Oguri still tries to deny that saying Ranpo doesn’t have any proof. Ranpo agrees but tell him this is enough because if he reveals all of his deductions to the world, then everyone will become doubtful of the novel and that will make the novel worthless, because he will not lose to Fyodor ever again, just as he won’t let Fyodor hurt anyone in the ADA ever again. Oguri cannot afford to let that happen and decide to turn himself in.
- Oguri deactivates his ability so now the police have found proofs to prove Kunikida innocent. Poe tells Ranpo that there’s no living response (or st like that) from the dead body that fell from the top floor. Ranpo then realizes that Oguri hasn’t really killed anyone since that corpse is also something given to him by Fyodor. He then goes towards the car that’s going to take Oguri and hands him a card and tells Oguri to go there. It’s an investigation office of some sort that someone like Oguri can help out.  Oguri asks him why and  Ranpo says it’s because he makes a promise to give Oguri a job if he’s in trouble (see Last chapter).
- After the car leaves, Ranpo burns the last page of the script. The text here is kinda deep and I’m not sure I understand correctly but I think it’s something along the line of “There's no such things like unchanged value to begin with, it's something we decide for ourselves. Because it’s the greatest luxury that human being has been given, though foolishly, to decide by themselves what to value and what to live in this world”
- The car taking Oguri is stopped by a crowd. Another cop ran to the car and said there’s a murder. When the driver asks the cops who the victim is, the cop just says “It’s you”’ and shoot the guy.
And that’s all there is to this chapter! Thank you for reading till the end :)

Literary vs Genre Fiction
On his Facebook page, David Gerrold recently posted a link to an article on how mainstream readers won’t read genre fiction as closely as they read mainstream or literary fiction.
The reaction to the article seems to be mostly misguided, thinking it accuses science fiction as a genre of being stupid.
That is a misreading:   The article describes an experiment in which non-genre readers (the genre being sci-fi in this instance) are given two virtually identical passages to read, both about coming into a room to have a meal with someone, only one was set in the contemporary world while the other was set in a sci-fi world -- at least insofar as non-essential details, such as swapping “airlock” for “door”, etc.
For the most part, the readers stopped paying close attention once they encountered genre jargon.
As well they should.
What is being described is not a reflection of sci-fi as a genre, but of genre fiction as a whole.
If one is reading a non-genre story (and we’ll get into what marks the difference in a moment), one pays close attention because one does not know when and where information important to the story will come in.
And I’m not just talking raw info dump, either.  The very manner in which two characters interact over a meal, the way others around them behave, indeed, the very setting can supply a vital but understated insight into their relationship and how they will react to the story as it unfolds.
To use an electrical engineering term, it’s signal, not noise.
But in the example cited, it’s exactly the opposite:  “Airlock” and other sci-fi terms are noise blocking the signal.
Now, this is not to say there can’t be examples of genre fiction where having a meal isn’t vital to the plot:  How do you poison someone in a crowded restaurant?  How to you feed the crew of a starship on a year long voyage?  For that matter, how do you feed a bunkhouse full of cowboys?
But in all those cases, what the genre reader is looking for is quite different from what the mainstream or literary reader is looking for.
True, every story can be shoehorned into some genre or another.  A perfect example is Fyodor Dostoyevsky’s The Brothers Karamazov; it is very much a whodunit:  “Who killed the brothers’ father and why?”
Standard murder mystery plot, no?  Dead father, and 3.5 brothers (read the book) who, individually and collectively, had means, motive, and opportunity to kill him.
Here we enter spoiler territory:  One of the brothers is eventually convicted of the crime.  Again, standard murder mystery plot.
But the twist is there is ample evidence that one of the other brothers committed the crime.
Once more, standard murder mystery plot.  Raymond Chandler’s private eye Philip Marlowe had more than one case unravel after the fact, revealing the pat answer he thought he had was actually based on false assumptions.
To that degree, Chandler -- much more so than most of his contemporaries -- actually wrote stories that can unabashedly be counted as literary fiction, escaping the confines of genre.
The Long Goodbye is my favorite Chandler book, and it ends on a sad, disheartening note as Marlowe realizes he has been used and abandoned by a man whom he once considered a friend, and for whom the detective was willing to go to great lengths and suffer much to clear his honor.
The movie ends with a much more concrete -- yet still excellent -- resolution than the book, but the film’s ending can be inferred from Chandler’s prose.
But here comes the crucial point:  The twist in The Long Goodbye comes after the crime has been “solved”.  Until the twist is revealed, the reader assumes along with Marlowe that the mystery has been solved correctly.
The genre aspect -- the mystery, the whodunit -- remains intact.  Even with a twist, the crime is not truly solved until the end of the story.
That’s what readers in the mystery genre expect.
But with The Brothers Karamazov, the information that there is an entirely plausible culprit other than the one on trial is presented and allowed to pass with no action taken.  The reader is given a chance to resolve the mystery in their own judgment and not rely on the plot to explain it to them.
The murder mystery, at that point, has become superfluous; it is entirely unimportant which of the 3.5 brothers actually committed the crime.  The new conundrum is:  “Why would the accused murderer accept the blame for a crime for even he is not completely convinced he committed?”
The answer, of course, is what makes The Brothers Karamazov so fascinating:  The long, complicated, complex, and contradictory relationship of Fyodor Pavlovich  Karamazov and his 3.5 sons; the characters of those sons; and why one of them would seek to explicate their sins through a conviction for a crime for which they may not be truly guilty.
There is a major weakness with genre story telling:   True, there are rousing yarns to be told, and a good writer can produce stirring pose than transcends the story it serves, but at its core, genre fiction thrives on reassuring readers, by feeding them pat answers to complex problems.  Genre fiction is populated almost entirely by battalions of Mary Sues, and while some of them can be unique and fascinating in their own right, ultimately all of them are wish fulfillments of readers’ inner fantasies.  James Bond, Modesty Blaise, John Shaft, Sherlock Holmes, Miss Marple, Philip Marlowe, these are all idealized fantasies for readers and media audiences no matter how well executed those stories or films may be.
While we may recognize aspects of ourselves in the various brothers Karamazov, none of us actually want to be them.
That is the line of demarcation between literature and genre fiction.  We approach genre fiction with a set of expectations we want fulfilled; literature presents us with a set of paradoxes we’re invited to resolve.
Nothing stops genre fiction from being good writing, nothing prevents literature from using themes and ideas found in genre fiction (MacBeth is the greatest sword and sorcery story ever penned).
There’s no judgment call here; I am as fond of my favorite genres as the next person.
Point of fact, the shelves behind me are right now are crammed with 1950s & 60s sci-fi novels, James Bond books, and a complete run of Lone Wolf And Cub.
But at my elbow are collections of Harlan Ellison’s stories and essays.  And downstairs there’s an entire shelf devoted to the works of Charles Bukowski.
The collected poems of Emily Dickinson, Allen Ginsberg, and Bertolt Brecht share shelf space with Robert Service and Shel Silverstein.
Raintree County sits next to Gone With The Wind.
Good writing makes you hungry for more.
Good genre fiction is like a tour guide who takes you to all the famous places you’ve heard about and want to visit.
Good literary fiction invites you into uncharted territory.

Narcissus the Killer? The myth of Narcissus is the story of I Me My Mine and NOT you becoming worse over time (Unedited version) clash of clans hack nowclash of clan hack clash of clan cheat hack The myth of Narcissus is one of the most known Greek Myths due to its uniqueness and moral tale; Narcissus was the son of River God Cephisus and nymph Lyriope. He was known for his beauty and he was loved by God Apollo due to his extraordinary physique. The myth of Narcissus comes in two different versions the Greek and the Greco-Roman version as both Conon the Greek and Ovid the Roman poet wrote the story of Narcissus enhancing it with different elements. Like to see more on Donald Trump Narcissism? Check in the alphabetical topic archive at the bottom of the page (it's the second giant list) for posts on: I Me MY Mine Greed Goals of the Psychopath Oligarch Oligarchy (Russian Greed) Theft Self focused and related "self" terms The Greek Version of the myth of Narcissus According to Conon Aminias a young man fell in love with Narcissus who had already spurned his male suitors. Aminias was also spurned by Narcissus who gave the unfortunate young man a sword. Aminias killed himself at Narcissus doorstep praying to the Gods to give Narcissus a lesson for all the pain he had provoked. Narcissus was once walking by a lake or river and decided to drink some water; he saw his reflection in the water and was surprised by the beauty he saw; he became entranced by the reflection of himself. He could not obtain the object of his desire though and he died at the banks of the river or lake from his sorrow. According to the myth Narcissus is still admiring himself in the Underworld looking at the waters of the Styx. The Roman Version of the Myth Ovid Mirror Mirror On The Wall Posts 3 of them you can page forward through them The myth presented by Ovid the poet is slightly altered. According to this myth Narcissus parents were worried because of the extraordinary beauty of the child and asked prophet Teiresias what to do regarding their sons future. Teiresias told them that the boy would grow old only if he didnt get to know himself. When Narcissus was sixteen he was walking in the woods and Nymph Echo saw him and felt madly in love with him. She started following him and Narcissus asked whos there feeling someone after him. Narcissus and Echo Echo responded whos there and that went on for some time until Echo decided to show herself. She tried to embrace the boy who stepped away from Echo telling her to leave him alone. Echo was left heartbroken and spent the rest of her life in glens; until nothing but an echo sound remained of her. Nemesis though the Goddess of Revenge heard the story and decided to punish Narcissus. From this point the stories are similar; Narcissus sees himself in the pond and he is amazed by the beauty of the reflection. Once he figured out that his love could not be addressed he killed himself. The myth of Narcissus in modern life and Art The myth of Narcissus is known also for one additional reason; the flower Narcissus that is found usually at the banks of rivers and lakes took its name after the mythical hero. It is a graceful flower featuring 40 different species mostly grown in Europe. It blooms in early spring and is considered fragile and very beautiful with white yellow and pink blossoms. The Myth of Narcissus has inspired several artists as well; the most known is Caravaggio who painted a young man admiring his reflection in the water. The painters Turner and Dali were also inspired by the myth while poets such as Keats and Housman used his example in many of their works. The Russian writer Fyodor Dostoevsky created several characters with the mentality and loneliness of Narcissus such as Yakov Petrovich Golyadkin. nice article thanks to and check out their other mythos:http://bit.ly/2ixNcUF In the Myths Narcissus didn't kill directly. He died before his Narcissism developed into a languid self-love that evolved from narcissism to psychopathy. In psychopathy the self love must scheme to get more and more of the self love and to strategize to get it dedicate one's life to get it and to use others to get it. If Narcissus had not died he would have become: a psychopath a taker thief a vampire a criminal a glib Machiavellian a gangster a drug lord an entitled mobster mafia There is an odd and indescribable hunger of the the pathological narcissist and dangerous psychopath the Dark Disorder. They are on a hunt at all times for their "food of self love": Dorian Grey seeks the eternal youth of his beautiful self while others are ignored. In some retellings he's likened to a vampire The movies Hannibal portrays a serial killer who is lost in the admiration of himself and his gory deeds with the image in the mirror loved being one of control cunning hunter and shock-doctor. Add to this any current world dictator serial killer psychopath the Las Vegas shooter that wanted to know there were security cameras filming his awful massacre and vampire movie (including the comedy ones) and any Marvel Movie where there is a megalomania killer or alien invasion! Hey it seems like Narcissus isn't really much danger to others so why even bring it up? The danger lies in what develops in the brain mind and personality over time. What is the danger in these stories both mythology and Grimm's fairy tales (Mirror Mirror on the Wall)? Is the warning just to Narcissus? No there is a full collapse of the kingdom: Donald Trump lives for attention and admiration and real governance is given only his spare time and the country suffers: Kim Jon-Un is on the camera blasting off another missile or presiding over a lavish show banquet or military parade. And for each bomb military parade costume or Kim's silk Mao suits paid for people go hungry.....they same is true for all other world dictators or drug lord In Russia where are the cameras always focused: on the cute face of Putin or a photo shoot of him trout fishing in the mountains with and without shirt on with and without horse mount. Some seem so innocent and innocuous but what is the danger of a Russian Oligarch stealing peoples incomes and allowing puppets to kill groups while the masses are marginalized and denied help and services? (see the tab above: Death and Genocide by Marginalization) I ME MY MINE and not you and btw: your money eventually will be my gold stores Psychopathic Leaders: 1. If a psychopath is looking in the mirror they're paying attention to the "object of their affection" themselves. They are not looking at other matters and details of life whether family or obligations. Consider the mirror as any of these persons truly looking in the mirror at themselves but also in the mirror or lens of admiration and notice by others: 2. If a psychopath then is looking at their object of their affection they build up in their mind that inflated value of themselves and the deflated value of otters. In that way others become servants to be used of lesser value getting the lot in life they deserve needing punished and in other cultures: deserving rape / torture or slavery. This is one of the reasons that over time psychopaths become worse and not nicer. Both the brain neural pathways and the mind/personality allow this self-infatuation and devaluation of others. Literally over time more of the brain's mental capacity and more of the personality is dedicated to self love conning deception and gack: More of the brain and mind / personality become dedicated to the devaluing of others! They can't be reasoned with helped to understand have a change of heart or "grow up". They instead become more narcissistic and debasing of others. They are more and more dangerous over time more criminal and more conning. Now if they appear nicer over time.....that comes from some skill in the art of the con and deception of others. In mythology and cinema young vampires are brash and inexperienced hunters of human souls and blood while older grey streak hair vampires of hundred of years know just how to appear to con. They are skilled and in movies which are a reflection of our human stories the skilled vampire is able to con village leaders and youthful beauties to their bloodbath via a refined red wine dinner in the dank vampire's castle. The stories tell remind us: Takers Take Vampires hunt and drain leaving empty husk humans behind and psychopaths do not change but become worse over time: Skilled and better at the con but now amazing more $$$$ The Brain dedicates more memory space problem solving and thought time as well as those connecting "neural pathways" becoming supercharged in narcissism. If there was any danger from a vampire a cruel dictator or a psychopath or 60% of persons in prison which is the amount of those there that are psychopathic I like to follow this rule which came about just through observation in 35 years of clinical work with this type: 1. The become 5% worse at who they are and what they do each year. 2. this is occurring in their brain neural pathways and mind / personality What are the exceptions to this??? There are some but really it's a matter of diagnosis errors. A. each psychopath has childhood traits that are clues to the danger. As children they might or might not be dangerous to others and animals yet. But they may torture animals be a bully at age 5 do cruel things to siblings or parents. As a clinician I've always been aware and found the childhood traits because I knew what to look for. Most other times especially in psychiatry no time is given to a full childhood psychological investigation or the gathering of reports from not just parents (who may give a false and glowing good report of "Billy") but siblings and of early grade school records and reports. For more on this see the Books Evil Clowns and Las Vegas / Sandy Hook Shooters by Dr. Bunch. I've had many experiences in the clinical office and in personal life with children acting on their psychopathy or having the clues they'll become psychopaths: A few years ago a distant relative had a Holiday dinner I attended. Their 6 year old came up to me and with a smile cunningly said "If you look at my mother I'll kill you". Througout the event glares and reminders were sent as if from Hannibal Lecter or Chucky (both movie psychopathic killers). I tried to see if the child was playing was told to say so by siblings or mimicking some character. My feelings though told the truth: I'm a person who walks without fear in danger zones in Mexico City and Rio de Janeiro but this was one of the few times I could recall being drawn into a terrifying scenario. And the event wasn't something I'd projected onto little Hannibal because I've only recent years studied child psychopathy and some related horror films. But it did bring up feelings I found in the docudrama true movie of Donald Trump's mentor: Roy Cohn. The movie and many posts are on the site archive under Cohn Roy Cohn and movies. I determined that this kid was the smart type that could put some poison in your soup like Chucky movies. How do they gain this particular knowledge? We're all drawn to our own brilliances and interests. Some kids are drawn to their love of sciences dolls toys guns anime cartoons heroes sports relaxation reading or imagination. Psychopaths are drawn to the brilliance of their Vampire Taking and other areas of their lives suffer because of it which also happens to all of us: Susie spends time imagining stories and ignores her father and mother that could model some living skills. She might be taken advantage of by others later in life without those skills. Little Lecters spend time developing bully skills developing theft strategies developing con and coverup methods while other parts of their life may be neglected. For many like Roy Cohn psychopath they are socially skilled and street wise but he in his law or government roles was very shallow. He had little knowledge or need for history which would have changed his cruel government actions he took with McCarthy against gays actors and blacks all groups as "Commies". Little Lectors have no or limited knowledge of the greater world languages cultures peoples nature or hobbies. Their mind is FOCUSED on the psychopathy matters while these fall to the wayside: They're not likely to be involved seriously in: Scouting ongoing community service palling around with a younger sibling developing hobbies: Legos or rocks having "humble jobs" as a youth such as delivering door flyers (in my time it was delivering newspapers) being a school peer counselor being in a spelling bee or science competition having a disabled friend having multi racial friends (a white boy hangs out only with other white boys a Hispanic boy only hangs out with other Hispanic boys) low interest in reading books not in the public library and so on. So back to the exceptions: 2. PTSD: returning war veterans go on a rampage shooting kill girlfriends or become repeat felony criminals in other ways. Is this an exception. Do psychopathic killings occur when the person is not a psychopath? Does the disorder just kick in when a veteran with PTSD returns and kills 5 persons in a bar at age 28 or 20 years later at age 48? These events are related to persons wth PTSD but the underlying cause is missed: 40% of War Veterans have PTSD Possibly 20% of Americans have PTSD from assault trauma childhood bullying War Veteran witness trauma medical crisis trauma etc. at least 95% of all those with PTSD of all types are not psychopaths and do not commit mass shootings murders or felony crimes Those shooters then have psychopathy and PTSD both. But the cause of the shootings is associated with the rage superiority and must punish issues of the psychopathy (see more in the book Las Vegas / Sandy Hook) This is the case where we're saying the person was fully "typical" and not a narcissist or psychopath as a child or teenager. Now when does a psychopathic pattern not equal psychopathy? There are rare if actually not any cases. Earlier from about year 2000 to 2010 returning war veterans that were involved with single or mass shootings were finally recognized as having gone off the deep end the war trauma being the major trigger. At that time they were given the benefit of having a diagnosis of PTSD. Now we know that 40% of all war veterans whether they saw combat or not have PTSD Post Trauma Stress Disorder. This is a disorder seen both in brain scans and in one's psychology. Later investigations after 2010 have revealed though that those who's childhood history could be investigated showed: bullying of siblings parents school mates teachers not following rules rage torture of animals including dismembering birds destruction of childhood and teen minor or major crimes a pattern of childhood psychopathy: oppositional defiant disorder self interest lack of sympathy and bias: there are those that are lesser and deserve punished bullied money taken away from at school made fun of called sissy's cut with knives or other minor or major torture grandiosity grandiose plans Bill was a 12 year old patient who took my waiting room wall clock that was broken down. With a knife which was not to have on him he set about disassembling the clock. His mother said he does that where he does think he can fix things and is "very mechanically inclined" as he says but everything ends up in a pile of metal cogs and broken parts. He was grandiose in what he thought he could do but not one step of the repair was undertaken. It didn't matter that he had a giant inventory of disassembled items because he never considered it a failure moving on quickly to another subject. Some psychopaths like Donald Trump Duterte of the Phillipines and El-Esis of Egypt have this inkling: they are good at unraveling and disassembling things but not at putting things together combining them or synthesizing new ideas. In fact Donald Trump's campaign promise was to unravel so many aspects of wieldy government which he had set about doing the first 9 months of office. But now he's unravelled the rope so much it can't be rewound. It seems many psychopathic leaders hope to get other experts on their staff to to the rebuilding of something "new" or just put it back together again. Putin seems mentally organized enough to get those persons to do his work. But Donald Trump Roy Cohn and Duterte are too mentally disorganized to accomplish this and that is their Waterloo. Trump is distracted throughout the day with an Attention Deficit Disorder from the matters of State to: TweetStorms Tweet Baiting vulnerable people Political Conflict with colleagues Promoting Properties and golfing Competing with Putin and other Dictators: my gold is more than yours Being seen and admiring Planning pre-emptive and counter attacks (today Donald Trump said after Senator Bob Corker announced Trump is only divisive for our country: "Bob Corker is the most divisive person..... ......And now I'm rebuilding this Country So Well". The Greek Version of the myth of Narcissus
According to Conon, Aminias, a young man fell in love with Narcissus, who had already spurned his male suitors. Aminias was also spurned by Narcissus who gave the unfortunate young man a sword. Aminias killed himself at Narcissus’ doorstep praying to the Gods to give Narcissus a lesson for all the pain he had provoked. Narcissus was once walking by a lake or river and decided to drink some water; he saw his reflection in the water and was surprised by the beauty he saw; he became entranced by the reflection of himself. He could not obtain the object of his desire though, and he died at the banks of the river or lake from his sorrow. According to the myth Narcissus is still admiring himself in the Underworld, looking at the waters of the Styx.
The Roman Version of the Myth – Ovid
Mirror Mirror On The Wall Posts, 3 of them, you can page forward through them The myth presented by Ovid the poet is slightly altered. According to this myth, Narcissus’ parents were worried because of the extraordinary beauty of the child and asked prophet Teiresias what to do, regarding their son’s future. Teiresias told them that the boy would grow old only if “he didn’t get to know himself”. When Narcissus was sixteen he was walking in the woods and Nymph Echo saw him and felt madly in love with him. She started following him and Narcissus asked “who’s there”, feeling someone after him.
Narcissus and Echo
Echo responded “who’s there” and that went on for some time until Echo decided to show herself. She tried to embrace the boy who stepped away from Echo, telling her to leave him alone. Echo was left heartbroken and spent the rest of her life in glens; until nothing but an echo sound remained of her. Nemesis, though, the Goddess of Revenge, heard the story and decided to punish Narcissus. From this point the stories are similar; Narcissus sees himself in the pond and he is amazed by the beauty of the reflection. Once he figured out that his love could not be addressed, he killed himself.
The myth of Narcissus in modern life and Art
The myth of Narcissus is known also for one additional reason; the flower Narcissus that is found usually at the banks of rivers and lakes, took its name after the mythical hero. It is a graceful flower featuring 40 different species, mostly grown in Europe. It blooms in early spring and is considered fragile and very beautiful, with white, yellow and pink blossoms. The Myth of Narcissus has inspired several artists as well; the most known is Caravaggio who painted a young man admiring his reflection in the water. The painters Turner and Dali were also inspired by the myth, while poets, such as Keats and Housman, used his example in many of their works. The Russian writer Fyodor Dostoevsky created several characters with the mentality and loneliness of Narcissus, such as Yakov Petrovich Golyadkin.  nice article, thanks to and check out their other mythos: http://bit.ly/2ixNcUF In the Myths, Narcissus didn't kill directly. He died before his Narcissism developed into a languid self-love that evolved from narcissism to psychopathy. In psychopathy, the self love must scheme to get more and more of the self love, and to strategize to get it, dedicate one's life to get it, and to use others to get it. If Narcissus had not died, he would have become:
a psychopath
a taker, thief
a vampire
a criminal
a glib Machiavellian
a gangster
a drug lord
an entitled mobster, mafia
There is an odd and indescribable hunger of the the pathological narcissist and dangerous psychopath, the Dark Disorder. They are on a hunt at all times for their "food of self love":
Dorian Grey seeks the eternal youth of his beautiful self, while others are ignored. In some retellings, he's likened to a vampire
The movies Hannibal portrays a serial killer who is lost in the admiration of himself and his gory deeds, with the image in the mirror loved being one of control, cunning, hunter, and shock-doctor.
Add to this any current world dictator, serial killer psychopath, the Las Vegas shooter that wanted to know there were security cameras filming his awful massacre, and vampire movie (including the comedy ones), and any Marvel Movie where there is a megalomania killer or alien invasion!
Hey, it seems like Narcissus isn't really much danger to others, so why even bring it up? The danger lies in what develops in the brain, mind, and personality over time. What is the danger in these stories, both mythology and Grimm's fairy tales (Mirror Mirror on the Wall)? Is the warning just to Narcissus?  No, there is a full collapse of the kingdom:
Donald Trump lives for attention and admiration, and real governance is given only his spare time and the country suffers:
Kim Jon-Un is on the camera blasting off another missile or presiding over a lavish show, banquet, or military parade. And, for each bomb, military parade costume, or Kim's silk Mao suits paid for, people go hungry.....they same is true for all other world dictators or drug lord
In Russia, where are the cameras always focused: on the cute face of Putin, or a photo shoot of him trout fishing in the mountains with and without shirt on, with and without horse mount.
Some seem so innocent and innocuous, but what is the danger of a Russian Oligarch stealing peoples incomes and allowing puppets to kill groups, while the masses are marginalized and denied help and services? (see the tab above: Death and Genocide by Marginalization)

Psychopathic Leaders: 1. If a psychopath is looking in the mirror, they're paying attention to the "object of their affection", themselves. They are not looking at other matters and details of life, whether family or obligations. Consider the mirror as any of these persons truly looking in the mirror at themselves, but also in the mirror or lens of admiration and notice by others: 2. If a psychopath then is looking at their object of their affection, they build up in their mind that inflated value of themselves, and the deflated value of otters. In that way others become servants, to be used, of lesser value, getting the lot in life they deserve, needing punished, and in other cultures: deserving rape / torture or slavery. This is one of the reasons that over time, psychopaths become worse and not nicer. Both the brain neural pathways and the mind/personality allow this self-infatuation and devaluation of others. Literally, over time, more of the brain's mental capacity and more of the personality is dedicated to self love, conning, deception, and gack: More of the brain and mind / personality become dedicated to the devaluing of others! They can't be reasoned with, helped to understand, have a change of heart, or "grow up". They instead become more narcissistic and debasing of others. They are more and more dangerous over time, more criminal, and more conning. Now, if they appear nicer over time.....that comes from some skill in the art of the con and deception of others. In mythology and cinema, young vampires are brash and inexperienced hunters of human souls and blood, while older grey streak hair vampires of hundred of years know just how to appear to con. They are skilled and in movies, which are a reflection of our human stories, the skilled vampire is able to con village leaders and youthful beauties to their bloodbath via a refined red wine dinner in the dank vampire's castle. The stories tell remind us:
Takers Take
Vampires hunt and drain, leaving empty husk humans behind
and psychopaths do not change, but become worse over time: Skilled and better at the con, but now amazing more $$$$
The Brain dedicates more memory space, problem solving, and thought time as well as those connecting "neural pathways" becoming supercharged in narcissism. If there was any danger from a vampire, a cruel dictator, or a psychopath or 60% of persons in prison which is the amount of those there that are psychopathic, I like to follow this rule, which came about just through observation in 35 years of clinical work with this type: 1. The become 5% worse at who they are and what they do each year. 2. this is occurring in their brain, neural pathways, and mind / personality What are the exceptions to this??? There are some, but really, it's a matter of diagnosis errors. A. each psychopath has childhood traits that are clues to the danger. As children, they might or might not be dangerous to others and animals yet. But, they may torture animals, be a bully at age 5, do cruel things to siblings or parents. As a clinician, I've always been aware and found the childhood traits because I knew what to look for. Most other times, especially in psychiatry, no time is given to a full childhood psychological investigation or the gathering of reports from not just parents (who may give a false and glowing good report of "Billy"), but siblings and of early grade school records and reports. For more on this, see the Books, Evil Clowns and Las Vegas / Sandy Hook Shooters by Dr. Bunch. I've had many experiences in the clinical office and in personal life with children acting on their psychopathy or having the clues they'll become psychopaths: A few years ago, a distant relative had a Holiday dinner I attended. Their 6 year old came up to me and with a smile cunningly said, "If you look at my mother I'll kill you". Througout the event, glares and reminders were sent as if from Hannibal Lecter or Chucky (both movie psychopathic killers). I tried to see if the child was playing, was told to say so by siblings, or mimicking some character. My feelings though told the truth: I'm a person who walks without fear in danger zones in Mexico City and Rio de Janeiro, but this was one of the few times I could recall being drawn into a terrifying scenario. And, the event wasn't something I'd projected onto little Hannibal because I've only recent years studied child psychopathy and some related horror films. But, it did bring up feelings I found in the docudrama true movie of Donald Trump's mentor: Roy Cohn. The movie and many posts are on the site archive under Cohn, Roy Cohn, and movies. I determined that this kid was the smart type that could put some poison in your soup like Chucky movies. How do they gain this particular knowledge? We're all drawn to our own brilliances and interests. Some kids are drawn to their love of sciences, dolls, toys, guns, anime cartoons, heroes, sports, relaxation, reading, or imagination. Psychopaths are drawn to the brilliance of their Vampire Taking, and other areas of their lives suffer because of it, which also happens to all of us: Susie spends time imagining stories, and ignores her father and mother that could model some living skills. She might be taken advantage of by others later in life without those skills. Little Lecters spend time developing bully skills, developing theft strategies, developing con and coverup methods, while other parts of their life may be neglected. For many, like Roy Cohn psychopath, they are socially skilled and street wise, but he in his law or government roles was very shallow. He had little knowledge or need for history, which would have changed his cruel government actions he took with McCarthy against gays, actors, and blacks, all groups as "Commies". Little Lectors have no or limited knowledge of the greater world, languages, cultures, peoples, nature or hobbies. Their mind is FOCUSED on the psychopathy matters, while these fall to the wayside: They're not likely to be involved seriously in:
Scouting, ongoing
community service
palling around with a younger sibling
developing hobbies: Legos or rocks
having "humble jobs" as a youth, such as delivering door flyers (in my time, it was delivering newspapers)
being a school peer counselor
being in a spelling bee or science competition
having a disabled friend
having multi racial friends (a white boy hangs out only with other white boys, a Hispanic boy only hangs out with other Hispanic boys)
low interest in reading books, not in the public library
and so on.
So, back to the exceptions: 2. PTSD: returning war veterans go on a rampage shooting, kill girlfriends, or become repeat felony criminals in other ways. Is this an exception. Do psychopathic killings occur when the person is not a psychopath? Does the disorder just kick in when a veteran with PTSD returns and kills 5 persons in a bar at age 28, or 20 years later at age 48?  These events are related to persons wth PTSD but the underlying cause is missed:
40% of War Veterans have PTSD
Possibly 20% of Americans have PTSD from assault, trauma, childhood bullying, War Veteran, witness trauma, medical crisis trauma, etc.
at least 95% of all those with PTSD of all types, are not psychopaths and do not commit mass shootings, murders, or felony crimes
Those shooters, then have psychopathy and PTSD both. But, the cause of the shootings is associated with the rage, superiority, and must punish issues of the psychopathy (see more in the book Las Vegas / Sandy Hook)
This is the case where we're saying the person was fully "typical" and not a narcissist or psychopath as a child or teenager.  Now, when does a psychopathic pattern not equal psychopathy? There are rare, if actually not any cases. Earlier, from about year 2000 to 2010, returning war veterans that were involved with single or mass shootings were finally recognized as having gone off the deep end, the war trauma being the major trigger. At that time, they were given the benefit of having a diagnosis of PTSD. Now, we know that 40% of all war veterans, whether they saw combat or not, have PTSD, Post Trauma Stress Disorder. This is a disorder seen both in brain scans and in one's psychology. Later investigations after 2010 have revealed though, that those who's childhood history could be investigated, showed:
bullying of siblings, parents, school mates, teachers
not following rules
rage
torture of animals, including dismembering birds
destruction of
childhood and teen minor or major crimes
a pattern of childhood psychopathy: oppositional defiant disorder
self interest
lack of sympathy
and bias: there are those that are lesser and deserve punished, bullied, money taken away from at school, made fun of, called sissy's, cut with knives or other minor or major torture,
grandiosity, grandiose plans*
*Bill was a 12 year old patient who took my waiting room wall clock that was broken, down. With a knife, which was not to have on him, he set about disassembling the clock. His mother said he does that, where he does think he can fix things and is "very mechanically inclined" as he says, but everything ends up in a pile of metal cogs and broken parts. He was grandiose in what he thought he could do, but not one step of the repair was undertaken. It didn't matter that he had a giant inventory of disassembled items, because he never considered it a failure, moving on quickly to another subject. Some psychopaths, like Donald Trump, Duterte of the Phillipines and El-Esis of Egypt have this inkling: they are good at unraveling and disassembling things, but not at putting things together, combining them, or synthesizing new ideas.  In fact, Donald Trump's campaign promise was to unravel so many aspects of wieldy government, which he had set about doing the first 9 months of office. But, now, he's unravelled the rope so much, it can't be rewound. It seems many psychopathic leaders hope to get other experts on their staff to to the rebuilding of something "new" or just put it back together again. Putin seems mentally organized enough to get those persons to do his work. But Donald Trump, Roy Cohn, and Duterte are too mentally disorganized to accomplish this, and that is their Waterloo.  Trump is distracted throughout the day, with an Attention Deficit Disorder, from the matters of State to:
TweetStorms
Tweet Baiting vulnerable people
Political Conflict with colleagues
Promoting Properties and golfing
Competing with Putin and other Dictators: my gold is more than yours
Being seen and admiring
Planning pre-emptive and counter attacks (today, Donald Trump said, after Senator Bob Corker announced Trump is only divisive for our country:
