even if the color of his face is edited or it’s the light, he still has clearly dark undereye bags. not to mention the fact that he’s wearing darker clothes than he usually does, signifying some kind of divergence from his usual character 👀

Captain Obvious is Obvious...and Star Wars thoughts overall
So, in mythology, Sköll and Hati are the two wolves that chase the sun and the moon. K cool I love Baylan Skoll and Shin Hati.
Only, when they catch their prey and devour it, that day marks the beginning of Ragnarök, the end of the world of gods and men, buuuuuuut, apparently, after that, the gods and the evil die, and the world is repopulated by two people...and the surviving gods make a new pantheon. Cue a new era ig.
In any case it's not like the Christian Apocalypse; many traditions focus more on cyclical time rather than linear time with an endpoint (Mayans, for example, reaching back to another Apocalypse scare in 2012), and it's become such an assumption in Western society that time and progress HAS an end, and an ultimate goal to which it's building up, that it's pretty much an assumption everyone in it makes. But it's not the only thought on the matter.
The thing I find so interesting about Baylan is that he seems embittered by the past, and thinks that somehow he's going to end the cycle? By starting another war? I mean the New Republic does suck. They're a weird combination of toothless and autocratic. Then again Baylan and Shin are mercenaries...?
Yeah I'm just going to sit here and read TS Eliot's The Wasteland about another "war to end all wars" and wait to see how this goes.
I'm so sad Ray Stevenson passed; he's been absolutely excellent.
On a side note, at this point, I need a dedicated show about the post-Order 66 Jedi that survived. Episode 6 of Ahsoka brought up "Bokken-Jedi," a bokken irl being a wooden practice katana. I beg your pardon, it's enough of a concept that there's an in-universe term for it?
I want to see the Service Corps go into hiding. I want to see networks of survivors being created. I want to see people finding some kind of peace in the galaxy...or not being able to do that. We got a hint of it in Obi-Wan and I'm getting cheated out of it right now.
Look, if Filoni wants to torture us with more Order 66, that's his golden opportunity. Please, Filoni.
But anyway--
General thoughts about this buildup of para-sequel-era shows, like The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, Ahsoka, and the upcoming Skeleton Crew. That don't really build up a goddamn thing, really, with the exception of Ahsoka.
The more it's created, and the more Thrawn and the whole plot of Ahsoka creates a whole conflict (while skirting addressing the issues of the New Republic) the more marginalized the ST actually is. They already felt like a rump mop-up of a larger conflict, or else something that just didn't involve the rest of the galaxy at large, and that was a criticism leveled at it even at the time.
Problem is, while the movies are seen as the crowning purpose of the Star Wars universe, we're moving away from them as being the central focus and I'm not sure that's being very well communicated or very well perceived. And I'm also kind of miffed that we're getting a short Haydennaissance only to be told we're moving away from the Skywalker story.
And it's fine that we're moving away from the Skywalker story (they literally said they would be doing that) and I'm alright with it, but that's not a reason to ignore Luke or Leia's characters when it makes sense to be involved with the overall plan.
Shit man, I'd be up for a somewhat Andor-style show about Leia's activities in the Senate, putting her in a similar position as what Mon Mothma occupies in Andor. The contrast of having Mon Mothma in one role in Andor and in a different one in that show would be a fascinating one. You could catch similarities and differences in the Empire, the New Republic, and even the pre-Imperial Republic; you'd even the perspectives of the people, like Mon Mothma, who lived through all three. It would be a damn good introduction to the political landscape of the sequel trilogies, and add a lot of depth to any attempts to get into sequel-era time periods.
Side note when the fuck is Andor season 2 being released I need more. Top 3 SW shows for me, that one.
Anyway, to sum up, what I think they ought to do is build up a plot line through shows, and use the opening crawls in the movies to bring movie-watchers up to speed, making it possible for them to have sufficient context, kind of like what they're doing with the MCU, but with more explanation. That way you double dip: people watch the shows but casuals are still willing to watch a Star Wars movie in theaters and know they're going to be watchable.

idk if you remember that you reblogged "choose violence ask game" (it's two weeks and i just found it in my drafts). I really want to hear you ramble about star wars! and obvi you don't have to do them all! 2 - 6 - 8 - 12 - 13 - 17 - 21 - 25 go off, queen 💞💫
Omg, so sorry it's taken me like three weeks to answer this!! Thanks for the good questions!
Choose Violence Ask Game
2 - a compelling argument for why your fave would never top or bottom
Ah see I have no compelling argument for this because (and I’m aware of what a vanilla weenie this is about to make me sound like) I don’t really think of my ships in terms of top and bottom, and when I do…. Bo-Katan is absolutely a switch....
6 - which ship fans are the most annoying?
Straight people who like ob*tine, d*nbo, or both, and make it everyone’s problem
8 - common fandom opinion that everyone is wrong about
Like 98% of Bo-Katan headcanons, fanon, meta, backstories, analyses, etc. that aren’t my own or those of my trusted friends lmfaoooo. “She would not say that” central.
12 - the unpopular character that you actually like and why more people should like them
Pre Vizsla. The SW fandom has… weird and unpredictable standards for which villains are socially acceptable to find cool and which ones are universally hated, and for whatever reason he seems to fall firmly into the latter, lol. He is interesting, though!
I love a dramatic ham. Charismatic extremist leaders are fascinating to me. His (second) character design is understated but badass. He’s a pivotally influential figure in mandalore’s modern history. I’ve given up hope that TCW era mandalorian lore/subplots/charas will ever be used or developed further in canon in a satisfactory way, but if they do, I would love to learn more details about his past.
13 - worst blorboficiation
Gotta say fanon Luke Skywalker. He’s been flanderized beyond recognition into a soft uwu babby uke in way too much of the fandom, lol, it’s a disservice to his character and particularly annoying/problematic/sus that it almost always goes hand in hand with headcanoning him as gay. Like no don’t get me wrong, he is 400% gay! But he can be gay and also retain his canon personality lmao
17 - there should be more of this type of fic/art
Blease more wlw Satine/Padme… why are there only 40 fics of them when they’re literally meant to be in lesbians with each other? Have y’all not seen the clone wars ep where they pass the bechdel test AND investigate political corruption as a first date????
21 - part of canon you think is overhyped
Hmm… I don’t feel strongly about this in any direction really. The sequels when they were popular, but they’ve all but completely fallen from relevance now so they’re not really overhyped?
22 - your favorite part of canon that everyone else ignores
Nuclear take but I actually like the dumb filler TCW episodes that focus on Jar Jar or the droids or whatever, most of them are actually kinda funny and a nice breather from the important parts of the story.

Thanks for answering my ask....If you don't mind me asking (again), what are your top 10 (or top 5) favorite media (can be books/ manga/ anime/movies/tv series)? Why do you love them? Sorry if you've answered this question before......Feel free to answer whenever you want to (or not). Thank you so much....
(You asked this a little bit ago and I put it in my drafts as a “I’ll finish this later” sort of thing then forgot until this morning, sorry)
1. Hyouka. It’s a mystery anime. There’s a manga as well, but I never got very far into it. The animation is really pretty, but the main draw for me was the mc Houtarou Oreki. The way he just doesn’t want to be there and also would like nobody to talk to him. Despite this, he’s friends with the exact opposite? And good friends. What a guy. Also, the mysteries are very fun to piece together.
2. Natsume Yuujinchou. I’ve always really liked this anime, and the manga. I like Natsume Takashi, the main character, and I also really like his grandmother, Natsume Reiko, who kind of acts as a secondary main character? She caused the whole plot to happen. I like how many people and yokai mistake Natsume for his grandmother, and the running theme of Natsume finally finding friends. It was also the first manga that ever made me cry, so it holds a special place in my heart.
3. MXTX’s novels. All three of them. I love the characters and I love the romances and I love the plots. I love the side characters! I can’t think of an author who has ever made me so invested in side characters before! I read them all for different reasons, so I don’t really have a favourite among them, but if I was held at gunpoint, I’d say Scum Villain is my favourite. Because I associate it with the colour green, and I like the colour green.
4. Moomins. I just… everything is so soft. And warm. And kind. Even when the characters are beinng objectively terrible, I just want to pat their heads and sigh wistfully. It’s definitely my comfort show. I occasionally watch clips from the nineties show just to cheer myself up again. I love Snufkin because his lines are amazing and I, too, would like to wander the world as a lone vagabond. (The whole conversation of “I made those footprints.” “What? How?” “With these big ol boots I found.” “Why are you wearing them?” “To see what life is like in someone else’s shoes.” “What’s it like?” “Uncomfortable.” I love every moment, I quote “uncomfortable” all the time)
5. Detective Conan (and Magic Kaitou) I love this series. I love the comedy of the most intelligent teenager alive being shrunk into a miniature. I love the drama. I love the characters, all twelve billion of them. I love that the twists are always so weird. I absolutey, positively adore the Kaitou Kid episodes! Something about little itty bitty Conan facing an international jewel thief… I also love the movies! I haven’t seen all of them (my attention span…) but my favourites are the Lupin III crossovers! And, of course, the best movie is the Lost Ship in the Sky, because it has the funniest scenes of anything ever. When Kaitou Kid (disguised as Shinichi) and Conan just leap out of a helicopter? I love them so much…
6. Encanto. I’ve watched this movie about 3-5 times (an impressive feat for me I promise) and every time the Abuela says “the miracle is not some magic that you’ve got, the miracle is you, not some gift just you” I cry actual tears. And I get major siblings feelings from all of it. It’s so good
7. Star Wars, specifically prequel-era and Original Trilogy-era. I love Anakin Skywalker. The most dramatic man to ever. And I love Luke Skywalker. And I love Leia. And Han, and Chewie, and Lando, and Obi-Wan (Obi-Waaaaannn 🫠) and just the majority of characters. I really enjoyed reading the Thrawn Trilogy because I found Mara Jade to be the funniest comedic foil to Luke. Luke is just vibing. Mara is like “You were stabbed fifteen seconds ago, what-“ Love the chaos duo Luke and Leia, who can’t go anywhere together because they attract misfortune but also can’t go anywhere apart because they attract misfortune. I love longsuffering Han who didn’t really realize that marrying Leia meant marrying Luke too. I have never watched the sequels, and I don’t really want to. I just wanna live in my lil bubble 👍
8. Resident Evil series. I’m counting the games here because I own exavctly zero consoles that run Resident Evil games and so I mostly just watch longplays, but I love the series. (One day I’ll be the Master of Unlocking… one day… when I have… more money…) I really like Ethan Winters because he reminds me of a kicked dog. I like Jill Valentine the mostest because I really like that her responses to all the weird comments Barry makes are just her laughing and agreeing. I like Chris Redfield because Wesker reveals his huge evil plan and Chris immediately starts laughing and Wesker gets actually upset that he isn’t taking him seriously. I like Ada Wong. She rocked in to Raccoon City to “find her boyfriend” (code for: do spy shit) in a dress and, like, tights? They could be leather pants, the graphics aren’t that clear, but I’m not sure? Her whole outfit in RE2 is amazing. Oh, and I like the horror elements too, the monster designs are so gross! 10/10!
9. Various DC comics. Namely, Batman, Robin, Young Justice, Swamp Thing, etc. I talk about Batman and Robin and all them a lot, but I really enjoy Swamp Thing! I never knew that it was a horror comic until I read it (I suppose it would have been logical to assume it was, but still) and I like him! He’s very cute. Squishy. I want to lay on him and tell him he’s doing a great job. I like the little mini Swamp Thing that grew after he was “killed” it’s so little!!!
10. Fire Emblem. I’m including another game series because I love Fire Emblem a lot. I have played so many hours of so many games (Tokyo Mirage Sessions crossover is underrated and everyone should play it and gush about it with me because Mamori runs a cooking show when she has no idea ow to cook!!! I love her!!!) I have wasted so much money on the mobile game (stop looking at me) I absolutely love this series! My favourites are Marth and Henry (FE:A) I love Marth, he is so… himself :) and I love Henry! He was raised by wolves! He converses with crows! He proposes with a cursed ring! He carries around monster parts just for funsies! He is the cutest little murder bean in the world! Fire Emblem Awakening got me into the series as a whole, and I have never been the same (side note: I also love Corrin, because they are a himbo whether male or female. I also love Robin, because they appear very reasonable and are tacticians and are very intelligent and they are also completely feral in weird ways and I like it a lot. I love Byleth, the best teacher who does not have a heartbeat and didn’t cry when they were born and doesn’t know how to emote)
This turned out longer than I expected, but I hope it’s what you were looking for.

the theory was that  george lucas wanted to  do all the canon, by 2017, 40  years later,  but then they made the spin off series, so all future clone wars theories were incorprated into the 100 year  history of the  galaxy, just like how  human empires lasted 1000 years, the family  connection was  the plot line of most star wars stories,
-- unpublished clone wars episodes that in the past lead to  dead ends, , the future wiil be  many pathways,, 14 more spin off season,. til George  realised it  was all about  family,
for someone  new to the  era, it is important  to  know the fandom was letter writing penpals and  postal star wars  fact  sheets based in te 1977 to  1988 era,
1988 was the last great  time to know the original cannon, before it  went into manga , anime,
we  got  a fact  sheet as  George went online in  1987, as  we  nerds were all online by then,  ou  can find  George lucas, Bantha Tracks postal star wars newsletters online,
Bantha Tracks Archives ... It all began in 1978 with the first 4 issues, originally called The Official Star Wars Fan Club, consisting of a series of articles
and the era of well before the internet, , ah naa, that is  too compicated, basically to realise it was mainly about the lucas team sending us  pencils,  badges, and  logoes items of cultural  and star war  significance,
there were  yearly  tv shows, about  George slipping hints about adventures of luke skywalker mainly,  as a  story of  what  hapened between episodes  “new hope” and ESB, and then  George threw in stories about  adventures between ESB, and ROFJ, ;;
star wars originally was a  fibibachi  scale, it was a concept of  one movie in  1977, never thought ot be  3 movies, , then the  success of the 3 side stories between the  3 movies, and  the  end of the  empire, left a therory in  the concept of  future star wars,  then the  fibinachi rule, increased  then it  was  6 movies,  12, ,  will we  get  24 movies, no one in  1977 would  ever have thought a  franchinse liek star wars would be an online genre, with over,  25 Million people watching a 30 minute  tv show all at once onlien in 2022
plus now  with  25 million peopel chatting along , the  whole concept of  follwng one  dialogue now makes no  sence,  each time someone  interpretes star wars, its informatin gets sent to  Disney  for  analysis, ,
3 movies made  George Lucas make enough money to make some random  ewok movies, ,  3  Ewok movies and  3 cartoon  series, a boba fett cartoon,  Droids, ( the R2D2 and  C3PO cartoon) and ewoks
Ewoks debuted on September 7, 1985, and ran against Muppet Babies and The Smurfs and Snorkles.
then  George  had a 10  year phase of wanting ot  do  the  dinasaur movies “Land  Before Time”  where we  connected ot  animated dinosaurs and  cried alot,
which was pretty much early,  Ice  AGe theme animated preproduction, of making a cartoon style for  future finacing other  star wars projects, ,
then 1997 happened and we  got the  re-start of the originals with  edits, and a new  ealry  DVD system before the  story of prequals in 1999, 2002, 2005,  with George  doing the  epic introducing the  “clone wars”, that  obi wan  Kenobi mentioned in a new hope,   , so as  he previously  learnt after  doing the  clone wars and  using  real commandoes from   human wars,
seeing  real commandoes  do  army moves and  do  action and emotional scenes, , the stories of humanising  recovery form war  was the main  motif of his plot lines in the middle of  each  era of  cone wars,,
lets say, their are now 15  eras in the clone wars, as,  anikan was 60 when he  met luke skywalker,
this  3  year triagulation for  each  new  recruits , new enlistments, so the group  dynamics always  change,  like  in human  years, war brings  educational  stresses, we  have a  resistance, and  a post enlightenment phase, where paciifism and the  asokah tano story line was not  working in 2005, when  ahsoka was seen as  dead in 1999,  dead in 2002, or  dead in 2005 cut deleted versions of the prequal films, each time georges   theory was ahsoka as  anikans padawan was  doomed, andwas thought to be curesed to  never  reveal the  connection  between anakin and , it was not til  George  realised, ahsoka  could  have  lead a life away form  being  a jedi, and  the  same with  Luke  skywalker,  time changes all, and it was a learning   curve for  George, who placed that theory  behind him and now  ahsoka is now alive all along,  spoiler, ,
, someone was leading  dead ends to the plot line, so to  confuse a few star wars fans of  future plot lines, , it  was not til 2017 when all the  loose ends and red herrings were worked out and the clone wars was one  continual  jounrey to teach about  family in war, , the end of episode  9 in canon , so each time a new movie or  show is made, it re animated the  entire  1000 year hisory of the pre republic,  Republic /Empire, Recovery, rebuild dynamic,
but what one sees as  a star wars movie in 1977 is  far more  different ot  what it  was like in 1999, or 2007 or  even 2017, a person forom  2017 would be so new to the plot line of even the  new  2023  movies , and  future time lines, it is  always  evolving, , so , starting or ending or stoping or re-starting in one time line, the adventure is always  different no one plot line is the same  for  everyone, to  witness the  Disney harvest, lol, that is why all interepretations good or  bad are worthy to  Disney,  makes no  difference who is making plot line time lines, Disney  sees all,

How poor fact-checking “killed off” Tom Baker...
Tumblr media
Above: In an alternate universe, Richard Hurndall, Peter Davison, Jon Pertwee, Patrick Troughton and K9 filmed the prequel to Weekend at Bernie’s.... (read on to get the joke)
Editor note: The following was written in 2019 and for some reason I never posted it. Having rediscovered it today and in honour of Tom Baker’s 88th birthday (and I’m sure he’d appreciate the absurdity of the situation), I thought I’d post it with some updates, of course!
When I first saw The Five Doctors anniversary special around 1985-86, I found it a rather depressing affair as I had discovered not long before that Tom Baker was dead. I assumed that was why he wasn’t in any new footage in Five Doctors and why the rest of the Doctors had to pose with a Madame Tussaud’s wax figure of Tom for publicity shots, which I thought was kinda morbid. (Anyone who doesn’t know what Weekend at Bernie’s is may now go google for a moment...)
Excuse me, Saddleman? You do know that Tom Baker was certainly not dead in 1983; in fact he’s still very much with us in 2022 and even recording for Big Finish! He just turned 88, in fact!
Oh, of course I know that NOW. I even have an autographed copy of Big Finish interview CD, Tom Baker at 80. But in 1985-86 there was no Internet, and Doctor Who wasn’t really a thing in my part of Canada. I wasn’t a member of any fan clubs. Doctor Who books were rarities in the shops; you had to special order them through the stores (I once waited 6 months for a Target novelisation to arrive and I remember there were a couple bookstores gave up on trying to obtain any for me...). So I had to rely on reference books I encountered in libraries and stores.
Such as the one I flipped through in a collectables shop that was an encyclopedia of “character dolls” - a who’s who of actors and characters represented in dolls and action figures with entries explaining who these people are for the older collectors who might have had no idea who Mark Hamill was or why anyone should care that he played Luke Skywalker. Of course, as there were several dolls made of the Fourth Doctor, Tom Baker was listed.
And the entry for Baker stated that he had died in New York City in 1982.
It seriously took me until the early 2010s to find out how this happened: an American actor by the name of Tom Baker (who had worked with Andy Warhol on some of his art films) died in September 1982. Obviously, whoever had written the toy-collectors’ book, and whoever was in charge of editing said book, never did a proper fact-check on this piece of information and assumed it was the same man.
As for my teenaged self back in 1985-86, who had no Internet, no access to UK media, limited access to any books related to Doctor Who outside the novelisations ... for at least 2 or 3 years, I legitimately proceeded on the assumption that, about a year after finishing his time on Who, Baker had died for whatever cause. I got on with life - these things happen, right? I didn’t even take note that Baker had made a guest appearance in 1983 or 84 in what was my favourite TV show at the time, Remington Steele. (I think I missed the episode as I didn’t have any memory of having seen Tom Baker in that show until I watched the episode on DVD decades later.)
Fast-forward to around 1988-ish and Nick Briggs’ Myth Makers interview video series was underway. By this time, there was growing local interest in Who in my part of the world (it was airing on a Canadian children’s network and more PBS stations piped into Canada on cable were showing it) and a local comic shop was stocking versions of Myth Makers videos put out by a US company in the NTSC format. Imagine my surprise and confusion when one of them ended up featuring ... Tom Baker! And it was a recent interview, not archived from the early 80s.
People talk about how the Internet spreads misinformation. To be frank, the pre-Internet era was just as bad. It also shows the importance of fact-checking and proofreading. I’ve tried to find that encyclopedia book for years, to see if they ever corrected their mistake. Much as I continually say I prefer permanent physical media over temporary digital files, the trade off is that permanent physical media is permanent. If I put a website together and I include wrong information (i.e. Tom Baker dying in 1982), I can correct the information immediately upon receiving a correction. But a book is forever and right now in some corner of some library or basement bookshelf lies a reference work with one whopper of an error!

hey jo! just curious cause im sick rn and i need some kind of .. tender entertainment HH and i thing ur Love (capitalized) for star wars is super endearing and and 🥺 i want a bit of that - so what is it about it? i mean.. the only lore i know is from the movies and the mando series, which isn't much with how big it seems to be judging by fan content. so idk but pls Do go off and talk about it just pitch sell it to me let me in let me iiiinnn
hey laura !!! i hope you feel better soon & thank you so much !!!!! ❤️❤️❤️ i will happily do my best to fill you in 💞 this is probably going to get very very long btw
ok, so the basic premise of the original trilogy (episode vi: a new hope, episode v: the empire strikes back, episode vi: return of the jedi) is the galaxy is under the rule of the evil galactic empire and its only opposition is a group of freedom fighters called the rebel alliance. a farm boy, luke skywalker, who is revealed to be a jedi, a person capable of using the force and wielding a lightsaber, becomes a jedi knight in his quest to aid the rebellion in defeating the empire once in for all. as the series progresses it's revealed that luke's father is actually the emperor's apprentice, formerly known as anakin skywalker, a fallen jedi and sith. by the end of the trilogy, luke is a fully fledged jedi knight and fights his father, and darth vader redeems himself by killing the emperor after watching the emperor try to kill his son. luke tries to save him but darth vader dies of his wounds. there's a whole bunch of other things that happen & way more characters but those are the very bare bones of the ot.
the prequel trilogy started in the 90's and ended in the 00s (episode i: the phantom menace, episode ii: attack of the clones, episode iii: revenge of the sith) and centers around luke's father, anakin, and how he went from being a jedi knight to a sith lord. it expands the universe further and also shows what the galaxy was like prior to the events of ANH. again, there's a lot more to it than that, which includes the jedi at their height, anakin's secret wife padme amidala, and way way more, but those are the bare bones.
there is a ton of media outside the main 6 films. (i'm not counting the sequel trilogy, episodes vii-ix. i don't like what they did, they sucked, and i haven't see ep ix and i will probably never. they had potential and they ruined it. so i will not be acknowledging or talking about those aside from the fact that finn deserved his own trilogy and jedi journey <3) there are shows, cartoons, novels, comics, video games. not to mention the masses of fanmade content. ever since disney acquired the rights to star wars, most of that media was relegated to "legends" (most of which is referred to as the EU, or extended universe), which means that they're still acknowledged as star wars stories but considered "old canon.
i know that's a ton of media and that's a lot of content and lore to sift through and it might seem overwhelming but like... i think that's one of the appeals for me, personally. there's so much content, so much to explore, so much more than just space wizards and stuff. there's so many stories, so many people, so many different worlds to read about and explore that like... the possibilities are essentially limitless. there's no "one area" that everyone sticks to in star wars lore, aside from general knowledge of the main movies (episodes i-ix). some people like the old republic era, which takes place thousands of years before the events of the ot. some people really love the prequels, which take place 20-30 yeras prior to the events of the ot. there are people who really like the civil war era, and people who like after. and there are people who love all of them or none of them or only stick to niche things like a certain planet or group etc etc. there's so much to choose from to love or hate or interact with. especially because there's so many aspects to every piece of media that can be talked about and explored. there's always something else to find. there's humans, jedi, sith, aliens, droids, planets, politics, plots, spaceships, bounty hunters... sky's the limit.
i think a big part of it for me is that i grew up with it. i understand there are people who get into it when they're kids or adults and they're not into it, and i'm not going to pretend that it's the end-all be-all for space fantasy media. but growing up, it was so fun. it was so full of imagination and possibility and it never got old for me. i loved the prequels dearly. because i grew up with it im familiar with the material and ive always known people who like similar things about it and view it the same way so even as ive gotten older i never really *grew out of it*. i thought i did, i thought i loss interest, but i came back once the mandalorian began to air and have been active ever since.
the thing that's kept me active, that's gotten me involved, that i still have love for and enjoy, is the people interact with because of it.  i met my best friend euie @ligaw because of it. i've made friends & mutuals as an adult because of it (not limited to but including @rogueninja @kasseivor @sarma @coredrive). i'm mutuals with people who also enjoy it and talk about it with me (including but not limited to stina-adrien @gayluke and y @goldennavenue.) and i'm mutuals with people who've made original characters from it, like nina @dilfbailorgana and h @edeemir, who have in turn inspired me to create characters & have caused me to begin creating original characters again as well. my friends and i create from it, complain about it, trash it, and love it. it makes it worth it, i think. my favorite part of tumblr + one of my longtime favorite pieces of media = a whole mess but there's a lot to love and laugh at.
that being said... not only is there a mass of content to get into, there are many issues within both the media itself as well as those who participate in it, both the fans and the creators that predate the disney-ifcation of the franchise. i know *every* media and fandom has its issues, from bad to worse, but it would be remiss, to say the least, if i didn't mention it beforehand. there are both past and ongoing issues of racism, whitewashing, islamophobia, antisemitism, etc. it's present in the media and also present in the fandom, which is something i think anyone who's thinking about getting into star wars should know about.
so like... there it is. it's not perfect by any means, there are many issues both in fandom and in the media, but i still think there's so much to love, it CAN improve and it SHOULD improve and i love it enough to want to see that happen, + the fact that i get to share the good and the bad with cool people makes still caring about star wars worth it ❤️

Hello there I read a post of your and you mentioned the star wars comics Can you please suggest some good ones to read about the prequels or the original trilogy era? I would be most grateful
Hi!  BOY, I CAN I.  :D PREQUELS COMICS: - Obi-Wan & Anakin by Charles Soule.  This is probably my favorite prequels comic, for both iddy reasons (the art is gorgeous, there are some joyfully extra Jedi shenanigans, Obi-Wan & Anakin’s relationship is darling, etc.), but also because it’s really, really good when you read the whole thing and look at what it’s saying about the plot, the Jedi and their view of their relationship with the Republic, their relationship with Anakin and his relationship with them, and why everyone views things the way they do, right down to Palpatine poisoning everything for everyone. - Age of Republic by Jody Houser.  This is a series of oneshots (don’t let the numbers fool you) for various hero and villain characters and all of them are really good.  My favorite is the Obi-Wan one (obviously) because it’s so good at exploring his relationship with Anakin, but the Padme and Anakin and Maul ones all have really excellent character moments as well. - Star Wars Adventures by various authors.  I enjoy pretty much all of the Adventures comics, no matter what era they’re in!  I don’t remember specifically which numbers the prequels ones are--there aren’t very many, but I’m recommending the whole run because there’s a lot of OT comics in there as well and the ST comics are really, really cute ones.  They’re light-hearted but have some great worldbuilding bits and have some amazing Padme moments especially.  (SWA #12-13 have the Anakin/Padme date episode that’s hilarious + the 2019 Annual has an amazing story about Breha telling baby Leia about her friend Queen Padme Amidala.)  There’s also a story about Mace helping a young Twi’lek girl somewhere in that run that’s WONDERFUL. - Clone Wars Battle Tales by Michael Moreci.  It’s a kids’ series (part of the Adventures line) but it has so many great moments for both the clones and the Jedi.  Both hilarious and with some touching moments (oh my god, Plo & Wolffe’s interactions got me right in the feelings and Obi-Wan is my fave forever, as always) and it’s a nicely done 5 issue mini-series. - Jedi of the Republic - Mace Windu by Matt Owens.  Don’t let the art put you off (it is an acquired taste, if that) because the story itself is really worth digging into, a great look at Mace and the Jedi and their struggle with their role in being warriors in the Clone Wars, as well as their capacity for compassion and care when someone is deeply unfair to the people around them.  It’s an excellent Mace story but also has Kit Fisto being amazing in it, so it’s also worth reading for that. - Darth Vader: Dark Lord of the Sith vol. 2 by Charles Soule.  Set in the immediate aftermath of Revenge of the Sith, this is a phenomenal look at Anakin Skywalker and Darth Vader and how they are absolutely the same person.  The bigger arc of this story illustrates all these various Jedi that Anakin meets, showing him paths he could have taken instead of the one he did--he could have went on sabbatical, he could have left the Jedi for a family, he could have found other paths, he could have helped even while falling to the dark side--and he rejects every single one of them because he refuses to believe there were any other options than the one he has.  Add in some incredible worldbuilding and this is the comic for understanding Darth Vader, for me. - Kanan: The Last Padawan by Greg Weisman.  Another must-read, for the stunningly gorgeous art, for the amazing cuteness of baby Jedi, for the incredibleness of everything of Depa Billaba, and for the heartbreak of watching Caleb Dume become Kanan Jarrus after the Jedi Purge.  The worldbuliding is amazing (the look at the Jedi is so satisfying!) and the deeper understanding of Kanan’s origins and heartbreak at watching how much he suffered through all of that, it’s just gorgeously done. ORIGINAL COMICS: - Darth Vader vol. 1 by Kieron Gillen.  It’s best to read this concurrently with the Star Wars ongoing (from 2015 by Jason Aaron) because the first 6+ issues overlap with each other, but after that, read in whatever order you like.  This series is amazing and I would probably say, if you’re going to read one Darth Vader comic, it should be this one (even though the Soule one is my favorite), because Gillen really nails that balance of keeping him something of a mystical figure while also exploring the character.  There are so many absolutely iconic moments from this run that are Must Reads. - Darth Vader vol. 3 by Greg Pak.  While I almost put this in the prequels second, because while it’s set between ANH and ESB there are a lot of flashbacks and aftermath of prequels era stuff.  It’s less than 10 issues into its run yet, but every issue has been grabbing me by the throat and really giving us another entire comic full of gut-punches about what a shit lord Anakin Skywalker chose to be while also breaking our hearts for him. - Star Wars vol. 1 by Jason Aaron.  While the main series has been rebooted and is now being written by Charles Soule, the Jason Aaron one is absolutely worth reading, it’s centered around the time just post-ANH, where Luke and Leia and Han are having adventures and it does the brilliant job of exploring the characters in meaningful ways while working around the framework of the original movies and adding onto them to make them even better, imo.  Plus, there are some Obi-Wan issues in there that are absolute heartbreakers. - Star Wars vol. 2 by Charles Soule.  We’re only on the second arc at this point, but the first arc with Luke recently wrapped up and it was really amazing, Soule is really good at drawing connections between the character arcs of both the PT and the OT,  ones that may not always occur to me on the first read, but once I go back, it really feels it’s deliberate.  Luke struggling with the dark side in the aftermath of ESB and the revelations there and how he deals with it?  Incredible. - As mentioned above, the Star Wars Adventures comics have a lot of OT ones (anything with Leia tends to be my favorite) and they might be aimed at a younger audience, but they are often gorgeously drawn and have either really iconic moments or are just really feel-good reads. - Shattered Empire is a four-issue mini-series that’s basically the aftermath of ROTJ and setting up a lot of stuff that’ll happen in the years between the OT and the ST.  The art is absolutely stunning, you will fall in love with Poe Dameron’s mother, and there’s some great nods to what the original trio was up to.  It’s great for connective tissue, but also I just genuinely enjoyed it for itself. HONORABLE MENTIONS: - It’s been awhile since I read either of the Maul comics (the one by Cullen Bunn I remember really enjoying, and I haven’t read Son of Dathomir by Jeremy Barlow yet) but they’re worth picking up, if you’re enjoying SW comics. - The Adventures comics had a Tales from Vader’s Castle + Return to Vader’s Castle series released near Halloween for some cutely spooky stories that I really loved, if you like the Adventures comics.  There’s a hilarious one with Dracula!Dooku references as a nod to Christopher Lee’s portrayal of the character that absolutely delighted me. - If you enjoy her introduction in Darth Vader vol. 1, the Doctor Aphra comics are excellent reads as well. I also loved the Princess Leia mini-series by Mark Waid

poe dameron: a masterpost
Tumblr media
Ever since The Force Awakens released in 2015, I’ve kind of made it my mission to keep track of any and all expanded material that included my favorite flyboy (and resistance general!) Poe Dameron. I kind of lost track in between The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker, but over the holidays, I caught back up.
I’ve been asked a couple of times about his appearances in the comics/novels, so I decided to make a quick, mostly chronological masterpost of his various appearances since they tend to be sporadic at best. I’ve included the episodes he appears in/is mentioned in Resistance, as well as some material that focuses on his parents, Kes and Shara because once you fall in love with Poe, you fall in love with his parents there’s no way around it.
Rebellion Era (Shara & Kes)
Empire Ascendant: Kes and Shara help build Echo Base, Poe appears (as a baby) briefly in a hologram
Star Wars (2020 Run): Takes place in between Empire and Return of the Jedi, mostly focuses on Luke, Leia and Lando but Kes and Shara have had big roles as well (includes tons of ‘fun’ parallels between Poe and his parents)
Shattered Empire: Takes place directly after Return of the Jedi. The first canonical appearance of Shara and Kes.
Before/During The Force Awakens
Poe Dameron Freefall: Young Adult novel that explores Poe’s history with Zorii. Takes place over a year and a half, set when Poe’s sixteen.
Age of Resistance - Poe: takes place while Poe is in the New Republic Navy, we get to see some of Rapier Squadron
SW Adventures (2017) #24: takes place while Poe is in the New Republic Navy
Before The Awakening: explores the recent histories of Finn, Rey and Poe leading up to the Force Awakens: explains how Poe joins the Resistance
Star Wars Poe Dameron: 31 issue comic series (+ 2 annuals) that nicely expands on his history in the Resistance and sets up threads that are picked up on in TLJ and TROS (issues #26-31 are set Post TLJ, but also explore arcs that run simultaneously through TFA)
SW Adventures (2017) #15
SW Adventures (2017) #6: Rose and Poe meet for the first time!
Star Wars Special C-3P0: Poe appears briefly to rescue Threepio
Star Wars Age of Resistance Special: there’s a short story about BB-8 that features Poe pretty heavily
Resistance 1.01 “The Recruit”: Poe brings Kaz into the Resistance
Resistance 1.07 “Signal From Sector Six”: Poe reunites with Kaz to investigate a distress signal
SW Adventures #16: Poe appears briefly to contact Kaz
SW Adventures #17: cameo appearance from Poe (in a daydream)
Resistance 1.11 “Station Theta Black”: Poe and Kaz team up to investigate what the First Order is up to in the unknown regions.
Resistance 1.17 “The Core Problem”: Poe and Kaz go to investigate another location in the unknown regions to see what the First Order is up to: ties in directly to The Force Awakens, as Poe is leaving for Jakku at the end of the episode.
Moving Target: mentioned in, at the very end of the novel
Poe Dameron Flight Log: junior tie-in novel, set from Poe’s POV. His various flight logs up to and during The Force Awakens. The parts referenced after he crashes the TIE are no longer canonical, but there’s still plenty of fun snippets to take away from it (and less fun, we get a glimpse at what he underwent torture wise before Kylo)
The Force Awakens Novelization: again, the parts post TIE Crash are no longer canonical, but it includes a lot of great moments not featured in the film
Post The Last Jedi/The Rise Of Skywalker
The Last Jedi Novelization: goes further in-depth what Poe is up to while Rose and Finn are on Canto Bight
Resistance 2.02 “A Quick Salvage Run”: mentioned only, takes place shortly after the D’Qar evacuation (we get good Poe & Kaz feels)
Resistance Reborn: picks up immediately where Poe Dameron #31 leaves off.
Resistance 2.17 “Rebuilding the Resistance”: mentioned only again, but it’s more good Poe & Kaz content
Spark of the Resistance: Poe, Rey and Rose go on a supply mission
Star Wars: Allegiance - four-issue miniseries leading up to TROS; mostly focuses on Rey, Leia and Rose but there’s some good Poe and Finn content.
“Choose Your Destiny” A Finn & Poe Adventure
SW Adventures #31: Poe and Rey go on a training run together
SW Adventures #32: primarily focuses on Finn, but there’s a couple of good (heartwrenching) Poe panels
SW Adventures (2020) #1-2: Poe and Finn decide to enlist Artoo to help them devise a new training course for Rey because they miss having her on missions with them
The Rise of Skywalker Novelization
Misc
Poe To The Rescue (Lego Special): takes place shortly after the C-3P0 comic special
Galaxy of Adventures “Rise of the Resistance”
Galaxy of Adventures “An Unlikely Friendship”
Galaxy of Adventures “A Hero Rolls Out”
Galaxy of Adventures “Leia Organa”
Galaxy of Adventures “Rey and Friends VS. The First Order”
Lego Star Wars Holiday Special: aka the one where Poe wears a holiday BB-8 sweater and is an adorable disaster (Disney+ Special)
Lego Star Wars Terrifying Tales: Halloween special focused on Poe and BB-8 as they crash land on Mustafar (Disney+)
Rebel Files: tie in novel compiling texts from the Rebellion with the odd annotations by Resistance senior command.

Top 10 fav SW lines? Any lines from any episode? (Meaning *uugghaaawww* aka Chewbacca would count too hahahah 😄🤭)
OOh brilliant question. Now Star Wars dialogue is known to be full on Shakespearean but here we go.
1: "You were right about me, Luke. Tell your sister, you were right," - Anakin Skywalker (ROTJ) I'm crying while just typing this. After, the last scene in ROTJ where Luke looks and sees Obi-Wan, Yoda, and his father, this is my favorite. It just so full circle. The Chosen One, who had lost his way and become the devil's spawn returns to become an angel one last time to protect his son, the person who brings out the good in him, and dies. My heart aaahhhh. This is why I love Luke so much, he sees the good in everyone. And, it's so much like his mother, whose last words were also, "there's good in him, I know there is still." It's almost like Anakin is talking to Padme through Luke.
2: "I hate you" "You were my brother Anakin, I loved you," - Obi-Wan Kenobi (ROTS). Another scene that broke my heart. This is one of my favorite scenes of all time and I know the entire fight scene by heart because it's just such an end of an era. And Obi-Wan is a Jedi, and is told to leave all attachments and here he is, admitting to Anakin, that he was his brother that he loved him so very dearly, and now he had to kill him but, it killed him just the same.
3: "Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate is the dark side," - Yoda (TPM). I love this quote so much, I always remind myself of it.
4: "I was beginning to think I knew who you were behind that mask but it's impossible! My Master could never be as vile as you." "Anakin Skywalker was weak, I destroyed him." "Then I will avenge his death." "Revenge is not the Jedi way." "I am no Jedi," -Ahsoka Tano (Rebels). Yes I am crying again. I just love this scene so much. Imagine, leaving your friend and then he becomes Hitler, that was what Ahsoka was feeling. And for a second, when Ahsoka says "Anakin", you can actually see Anakin in Vader, and even as Vader he is teaching her.
5: "From a certain point of view," Obi-Wan Kenobi (ESB). I use this in every argument, I also love this scene so much.
6: "Have heart little one. A wise Jedi once said, "it is the will of the Force that you are by my side." Just want to keep you there in one piece," - Anakin Skywalker (TCW). I love that Anakin references Qui Gon, and this is something I always tell myself, that everything is as the Force wills. But, this also is the beginning of Anakin and Ahsoka's friendship so this is very wholesome.
7: "You've failed, Your Highness. I'm a Jedi like my father before me," -Luke Skywalker (ROTJ). This is why, ever since I was a child, I've sort of idolized Luke. He sticks to his morals and sees the good in everyone. He trusted his father, and he saved him.
8: "Hello There" "General Kenobi" - Obi-Wan and General Grievous (ROTS). This is for the memes. It will forever be etched in my memory.
9: "I don't like sand" - Anakin Skywalker (AOTC). Again for the memes. But, I actually like this scene. People forget the meaning of this scene. It's saying that 'hey Padme, I didn't grow up with wealth and the luxury you have. I was a slave on a dessert.' And, people can trash on Anidala how much ever they want but I love them. So, I like this scene.
10: "The Republic will be reorganized into the first Galactic Empire for safe and secure society and prosperity" "So this is how liberty dies, with thunderous applause" - Sheev Palpatine and Padme Amidala (ROTS). It's no secret how much I love Palpatine as a villain, and as a kid I literally wanted to be Padme, so I love the themes here. The end of democracy, and people applauding it, a lot like today. I think the cinematography here is just mwah.
Damn that was long, there are many more as well, especially from Qui Gon and the Clone Wars, and Obi-Wan cause he is just so wise.

Lamps are different but the light is the same ~ Rumi.
As a longtime Star Wars fan who has grown up in the era of the prequels, clone wars and *shudders* the sequels. I have come to learn what an incredible arc Anakin had over the course of the Skywalker Saga he came a long way from that little boy that we met in Tatooine, but still even after all the pain and destruction he brought on others I still believe his heart was the same, he still cared deeply about those that he loved. And losing Padmé locked his heart away and made it cold and impossible to reach, that was until Luke came along in Episode 6 and echoed the same words that Padmé had pleaded long ago on Mustafar.
Alright that aside I really just wanted an excuse to post a picture of my figurine!

There will potentially be more chapters, depending what you, as readers, want.

Lesson 2: How to Handle Your Lineage - ft. The Disaster Lineage Despite being taught that a jedi must not have attachments, a lineage is a bit like a family, isn’t it? 1. You muse over half of Yoda’s lineage as Anakin attempts to pass on his teachings. 2. You remember a simpler time in your youth with your master, collecting plants from across the galaxy. 3. You learn the true strength of a jedi.
PREQUELS ERA
Obi-Wan Kenobi x Reader
Unsaid Things When in the midst of battle, when everything seems lost, you reflect on everything that would go unsaid between the two of you.
Back Then  In short, Obi-Wan was the only cook between yourself, him and Anakin. Chaos ensues.
Tea or Caf?  Part ii It was an age-old argument that had spanned for all the years of your padawanship, and apparently its still an argument that needs to be had.

Chaos and stress ensues. Partly because of the 3 jedi who can’t seem to sit still.
Plo Koon x Reader
Glimpse If you’re dead, you’re not really a Jedi, so you don’t have to abide by the code now right? There wasn’t much you knew, though you knew you loved him. A brush with death gives you a glimpse of a future that you weren’t sure you could have.

WandaVision Thoughts: Ep 8
Warning: Contains SPOILERS up to the end credits scene of ep 1x08. And “speculation” about the Finale.
1. I was wrong about several things in my theories. But I was pretty close with some other things.
2. I still presume the  timestone blast in “inifity war” might have made her even more powerful/unlocked more of her powers, but her backstory revealed that she “absorbed” the energy from the stone during her first contact with it....already, also .She is literally a living infinity stone...in a way. She absorbed the “energy” of the stone & is connected with the stone...as we’ve seen throughout the MCU history. And she’s kinda “absorbed it twice”? (so, in a way, she has been carrying VIsion’s soul inside her for a while... so makes sense she would “create” him, because they are literally of the same mind(stone))
3. All. The. Colours. ... Differen t colours of their powers/magic... coming from all these characters: Blue. Purple. Yellow. Red... The colours of the infinity stones. The colours of “characters powers”.... All the colours of the rainbow/spectrum. I completely see the last shot of the show being a rainbow above WestView (cause the colours of everyones powers are the colours of the rainbow...)
4. My theories were wrong, because I  based them on the hypothesis that she cannot create things from nothing...that she can just change their “dna” & shape. If I had presumed that she can create things from nothing, I might’ve been more accurate about...Vision...and more. She seems to have created vibranium, an infinity stone, and a soul... “out of nothing”... when she/her grief created a vision... UNLESS... that was an incorrect guess by Agatha, and Hex Vision is more like his episode 2 stage name suggested... an Illusion. Though I have a hard time believing/understanding it, I’ve tried to accept that in comics & fiction things that don’t follow laws of physics can be & are true. And she did create Vision from “nothing”..even if in real world that is impossible...
5. In the past few days before ep 8 I had started to believe the theories about “double vision”. And unless there is also a cameo coming with an appearance of some other actor, Paul Bettany’s comment about doing a scene with an actor who he had always wanted to work with was... the best joke ever... cause he was most likely referring to himself. And the way it is similar to the “Luke Skywalker” Mandalorian camero is not because of the actor, but because of the CGI used. I love that this is most likely the answer here. [and in that case I kinda think that the “fireworks” could be a scene similar to when Tony asked Jarvis to activate the Clean Slate Protocol in IM3, cause we are dealing with more than  one “copy” of the same “tech” here... & they can be blown up like that...]
6. We also got a much more clearer look on Hayward’s evil plans. And I'm now seriously starting to suspect the theories that connect WV to AoU...in a meaningful way. I’m not gonna say it, but I think you get my point. We’ve all known all along he’s up to no good. Even if he is “just” another “government baddie” and not Ultron’s puppet/puppeting Ultron. And I'm still unsure if he is aware that he’s essentially waking up Ultron or will that be a surprise to him...
7. Paul Bettany’s journey in MCU is about to become full: he started as the VOICE of JARVIS (AI/machine) that Tony built/created. He then appeared in physical form (body and voice) as The Vision since AoU. And now it seems possible that we’ll see him play Vision, while someone else provides the VOICE over for the character. But we also know, “thanks” to Spiderman 2 (released last year, but taking place several months after WV events in the MCU) that the Vision we have known & loved does not survive this hex reality. I wish there’ll be a surprise twist, but I sadly doubt it.
Before the show started to air, I had no doubt the character was done... I was 99% sure there is no way he could come back & WV is just a dream or something like that. But as the show has progressed, Ive started to think there are ways it could happen. None of them really fit with the shows theme & point. Just like Tony had to die for the sacrifice to be as impactful Vision has to die/remain dead for Wanda’s grief journey to come to a conclusion. She has to reach the final stage(s) of grief, accept the loss & move on. Though... we can arue that Vision could live & she finally deals with the greif for her parents & brother. And/Or Vision “lives”, but it’s not her Vision...she can’t feel him. So he starts his journey from the start...to learn to be “human”, etc.
I mean.. I wish we would get the merging of the two (sides) of Vision - the soulless body of whitevision + the “created by Wanda” Vision with soul (even if with no memories of pre-hex). But based on Spiderman 2: FFH “in memoriam” clip Vision is one of the fallen avengers next to Tony & Nat. But then again, Steve/Cap was also in that clip, so perhaps there is still hope... that Wanda/the hex will merge the two & this is how we/Wanda gets her Vision back. And it’s just kept under wraps. And if it’s not Ultron, then the greatest twist would be if RDJ would provide the new Vision’s voice (until he “gets his soul back”). I mean.. Paul Bettany provided the voice for Tony’s AI/suits, so that’d be a huge thing
8. I hope everyone understood that the town was a mess because it’s literally a few weeks after the Blip. 5 years ago Thanos snapped half of life away, and this is the outcome of it...the small town was probably full of life before that, and now its just “in ruins”. When Vision (and Wanda) bought that property/land it/the town did not look so sad. This is all the result of the snap. And this is why, I think, the word “snap” appears several times on the show (cereal box, add on wall)
9. The origins story from the experimentation with the mind stone scene had the same kind of “rewind” stuff as Wanda’s sitcom episodes. The watchers (blinded by the blast) seem to miss a part of the show. And now Darcy & Jimmy & team seem to miss parts of the show. We are shown that this is kind of due to Wanda “rewinding time”. So...she posesses the “power” of several infinity stones, kinda, it seems.
10. I’m starting to think that perhaps one theory that was flooting around is correct. The “Wanda arrives to Westview” scene where she sees several of the residents could imply so. We only see one part of each couple. And within each couple the one who “glitches” (Mr. Hart choking in ep 1, Vision malfunctioning cause of gum in ep 2, etc..) is not seen, only their other half. So is the town “in ruins” not just because of the blip? Maybe it was populated by people who lost their loved ones in the Snap & all moved to this town after that? And hence weren’t at the place their other half was returned to now, 5 years later? Or...the other halves are all dead, and hence everyone looked sad & alone? Maybe it was more thaan just the chaos creted by the snap & blip?
11. Where were Vision (who was flying back to the house) & Monica + Fietro? during this episode? Well..all of ep 8 happens in just a few moments... simultaneously to what was happening with Vision(/Darcy and Fietro/Monica in the end of ep 7, so...they will arrive..soon.
12. I do not know how it could happen or work (considering what we already know to be true), but since they pointed out in episode 1 that “The death rate of single men is twice that of married men" & Hex Vision is married, while White Vision is not (also...will he remain himself when entering the hex or will he chanage form to fit the year/era that episode 9 is set in...which, I’d say might be a decade before rel time 2023, because the boys are 10... cause this version is essentialy a machine, so if it doesn’t match the era, then the hex changes it), then that would lead me to speculate that Hex Vision defeats White vision.  So now the question remaims if the vibranium/empty shell will remain or will it be vaporized... cause if the materils cotinue existing they can still re-built/re-create Vision in future. Cause unless both die, and unless some otehr surprise (going through the hex changes Hex Vision and/or he has competed his journey & become a separate indivudual, a real  being, then there’s no way he can survive outside/without the hex. If you truly are the master of unpopular opinions, then I challenge you to name ten of them. Across any fandom you like.
Oh snap. Well, I certainly wouldn’t say I’m the master. A lot of my ships are pretty popular ones, for example. I think it’s mostly that a number the fandoms I follow feel like their stories have gotten bad recently, but I mostly disagree. I’ll try to tag each discussed fandom and character!
1: Star Wars: The Last Jedi is amazing. It’s the best movie in the new trilogy. I love Luke’s character arc, even the flashback moment that everyone hates. I really liked Rey being nobody (R.I.P.) and Rose was a great addition to the story. People unironically say she’s worse than Jar Jar Binks and I just don’t get it. How are they in any way comparable? Oh, and while we’re on the subject of Star Wars - I’m a Reylo shipper who also loves Finn and Stormpilot. Yes, we do exist. I’ve also made my peace with Rise of Skywalker. It’s a terrible movie...when you watch it as a sequel to existing Star Wars. But watch it as a standalone film? It’s pretty damn good.
2: Pokemon: Looker is one of the worst characters in the entire franchise. I feel such visceral, most likely irrational hatred for him. First of all, I don’t like it when the police are utilized in pokemon whatsoever, because they don’t really fit in this world, but Looker...when he’s not being creepy as hell, he’s just absurdly annoying, and forces himself into your life. I just want him to go away. Black and White are two of my favorite titles, but I still remember yelling “Get out of my house!” when he turned up in the post-game. As much as Sword and Shield have problems, I was overjoyed when I finished the game and realized that he hadn’t appeared.
3: Avatar: There is a certain moment in Legend of Korra, Season 2. I’m not going to spoil it, but it was a moment that broke everyone’s hearts and changed the game forever. Yeah...if you know, you know. People hated this twist. They felt like it ruined the series. Suffice it to say, I disagree entirely. Sure, that moment completely broke me as well, but I don’t think it was bad writing. I think it was incredibly bold and powerful. I appreciate that moment and how the characters had to move forward with that having happened. I felt like it was drama done very well.
4: Harry Potter: J.K. Rowling is...not the worst person to ever exist? Not even close? I’m not nearly the staunch defender of her that I used to be, as it has recently come to light that she’s kind of transphobic. Which breaks my heart, and I hope she learns better. However, literally...all the other complaints against her don’t make any sense? I feel like I’m going to get messages about this one, but I’m happy to respectfully counter-argue the reasons people have for hating her. As much as she can be problematic...she still gave us this universe. And as much as I love the Potter fandom...we can also be a bit entitled. EDIT: She has gotten far worse since this was posted and any desire to give her a second chance has since shriveled away.
5: Timeless. Garcia Flynn has always been my favorite character, and the fan-made Seasons 3 and 4 have made something of a Lucy x Flynn shipper out of me. However, I also don’t hate Wyatt. I actually love and enjoy his character....yes, we do exist. I’m gonna say it over and over again: Wyatt deserved better. Sure, he didn’t treat Lucy very well in Season 2. Considering how his worlds were colliding in ways no one could have predicted, I think we can acknowledge that he was wrong, and move on from it. If nothing else, he shouldn’t still be on the hook for it by Season 4. But...no. I guess he is. (Sigh)
6: Undertale: Asgore is not a terrible person. This is one of the weirdest takes I’ve seen, but people hate Asgore. More than just acknowledging that he’s flawed, they despise him. To the point where they write in head-canons that he groomed Undyne into being a child soldier, or that Toriel was forced into an arranged marriage and didn’t love him....the canon clearly defies both of these ideas. And I get it, he’s killed children before. His cowardice meant he couldn’t fully commit to saving his people. Fair enough. But he’s not evil. No one in Undertale is, that’s kinda the point. Also, you might think I’m an Asgoriel shipper, but no. Definitely not. I’m an Asgore fan, and I prefer Soriel. Yes, we do exist.
7: She-Ra: I’ve talked about this before, but even though I agree that Catra and Glimmer are interesting foils of each other....I don’t understand the idea that Catra opening the Portal and Glimmer activating the Heart of Etheria are somehow supposed to be comparable, or draw parallels between the two of them. Glimmer genuinely thought she was doing the right thing, that she would defeat the Horde and save everyone. She was misguided, but her motivations were selfless. Catra...was furious at Adora and just wanted to stick it to her. When Entrapta tries to warn Catra of the danger, she sends Entrapta to her presumable death. Catra’s motivation wasn’t noble. It was spite. Then, at the end of it all...she blamed Adora. Glimmer took responsibility for her mistake. To be clear, I’m not Anti-Catra at all. I’m just a very dedicated Glimmer stan.
8: Game of Thrones. I thought Season 8 was okay. The very ending, with the Grand Council? Absolute garbage. Do not talk to me about King “Bran” or the pointless exile of Jon. But everything before that? Even the destruction of King’s Landing? I was fine with it. Mostly because I kinda saw the warnings signs long before Dany got to Westeros. Was Season 8 amazing? No, Season 7 was better, but I still liked 8. Side note, because I just have to keep this recurring line alive - I’m a Sansa stan who will defend everything she ever does, including her betrayal of Jon, but I’m also a Jonerys shipper. Yeah...we do exist.
9: Doctor Who: I love the twist introduced in “The Timeless Children.” It blew my mind and it changes everything. I don’t think it ruins the canon at all, I think it reinvents it into something mysterious and intriguing. The rest of the episode? Eh...I love the Master, but other than that...Most people tend to think that this episode was at least better than “Hell Bent” barring the twist. I...feel the opposite. At least in Hell Bent, the timelords acknowledged that the Doctor was behaving out of character. At least that was the point. In this episode, using the death particle on Gallifrey with no moral debate about it...Doctor, you had a seven season character arc about why doing that was wrong. (Side note, Day of the Doctor is my favorite episode, so I am not happy the Gallifrey is gone again.) Even so, it has to be said - The Jodie era has been amazing. I will never understand why people don’t like it.
10: Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse: Oh boy, it’s an unpopular opinion to even like this game, and I love it. Most people agree that the story is weak and cliche compared to the original. I disagree. It’s more like a different style. Yes, this game is very “anime” whereas the original felt more like a bible story. But this game has that rag-tag team of misfits who form a found family, and I just live for that trope. Speaking of the characters, my favorite is Asahi. I know people hate her, but I found her to be incredibly endearing, and she had an amazing character arc. Right up there with Hallelujah and Gaston. Nozomi, on the other hand....(deep inhale) let me know if you want to hear my rant about her...

The Timeless children thoughts*SPOILERS*
Been a long time since we’ve had one of these hasn’t it? Not since the Moffat era have I done a retrospective on an episode but oh but I have conflicted feelings about the timeless children.
First off I want to say I had a good time with this episode and most of series 12. Unlike stuff like hell bent this episode at least had a lot of meat and gave us some answers rather than blue balling people.
I also don't like the idea of canon being a religious text that is unmoving but I do feel some respect must be given for what came before, you can change things but there are better ways to go about it.
So issues.
1: The time lords got the Stuffed in a fridge trope done to them
I mean Galifrey got done dirty this series and I hate hitting the reset button on it after what we went through during the 50th and the build up to the Doctor saving it and it just gets wiped out off screen by an angry psycho who in the classic series was this twat in the grand scheme of things?
How did the Master even destroy them? Did they fight back? The way he talks about it makes it sound like he hunted them down one by one Jason Voorhees style before carrying the millions of dead time lord bodies back to his larder where keeps all the dead bodies on ice which is super disturbing? Plus the idea of all the time lords even characters we got to know like Braxiatel, Romana, Narvin, The Monk, Rani and many more have had their bodies perverted and then rammed into cyber shells like spam is iffy as hell.
I like dark stuff but I really hope the time lords get a more positive ending, not all of them where the corrupt high council people after all.
2: The Doctor is now the most important person in creation.
This was a moffat era issue I had and I value restoring mystery to the character again but making them the template for all timelords, being a special unique child from another universe, it makes the doctor the most important thing ever and I kind of have issues?
I like the idea they are small but someone who was tired with their people and ran away to see it all and do the right thing where they could. Making the doctor the secret creator of the time lords is like having Luke Skywalker invent the force or Kirk being the founder of Starfleet.
If anything it makes the universe feel smaller and bend around the main character.
3: Is the Doctor just going to move on from the time lords now?
It feels like “Galifrey is gone, fuck it, got a new home and origin now so I'm feeling pretty positive now.”
Does the Doctor not care that her people have been killed, had their corpses desecrated then minced into cybermen bodies? She seemed to move on from it all pretty quickly.
Even if the timeless child thing is the direction and not just a lie the Master or matrix had hacked into it? This was still the doctors adoptive home, this is where she spent most of her life, she had family there, friends, allies, connections. Is she just fine moving on from what happened?
After killing them in the time war the Doctor had years of PTSD, it weighted on them so seeing her people not just lost again but turned into a parody of their former selves by her enemy? She's not even bothered much now?
4: What happened with Rassilon and Omega?
They where just not there? Did they work with Tecteun? Did they have their own projects or where their advances in time travel and more just part of a false creation myth? Did Rassilon encourage Tecteuns regeneration research then steal credit?
What is going on?
5: Other stuff
Am I the only one who hates how passive 13 was in this? She seems to turn into this victim character when the Master is around and that has some weird overtones considering this is the first proper female doctor? Also I love the new Master but he feels OP with some of the stuff he gets away with.
Also what happened with the sisterhood of Karn? Where do they and the flame factor in? How did River get regenerations off the time vortex if the Doctor was the creator of regeneration?
6: What happened with Missy?
Isn't it weird we had this character growth and now the Master is just pure malice, hate, anger and motivated by disgust over the fact he share an origin with the Doctor now? It's weird going from Missy to that and it feels that character growth got thrown under the bus.
Like I said I don't hate this episode and I do dislike the toxicity some fans on both sides have had about series 11 and 12. Like I said it was a fun ride, canon is not a religious object but god I have ze picking of ze nits here.
