i just started watching saiki but im convinced w/the whole 'cant see movies so i gotta watch tv to actually be surprised by something' thing would lead to a chronic tiktok addiction in the future.
[ id: a collection of plainly coloured pixel sketches of saiki k on a plain pink background. on the right is the most detailed sketch, a fullbody of saiki wearing an oversized long sleeved hoodie with a cat pattern on the front resembling music. he's wearing headphones, with the cord visibly reaching down to the phone in his hand. his feet are back awkwardly, with one posed up in the air, and the other lifted like he is stepping, buth are positioned to reveal his shoes have heelies on the bottom. he is looking off to the right.
on the left are a collection of 3 seperate sketches depictiong saiki's life.
sketch 1: a simple chest up sketch of saiki holding his phone, which has a sun (daycare attendant from Security Breach) accessory attached to it. there is a spoon in his mouth, and a cup of coffee jello sat infront of him. above his head is text that reads: "Son! can you help me and your mother for a bit?"
in response to above text, saiki is shown thinking: "Of course, my parents get excited when i express interest in anything, up until it stops them from using my powers for their benefit."
there is a sound bubble coming from the phone that says: "*slime sounds* *doja cat song* *obvious thirst trap*
sketch 2: a very simple sketch of kokomi faced away from the viewer, and turned towards saiki who looks excited and is holding a box. there is a close up drawn of the box that reveals it is a figure with the words 'limited time' and 'special offer' written on the side.
kokomi is shown speaking in blue text that reads: "to commemorate our 2 week anniversary, I got you that figure you kept talking about!"
in response, saiki is shown to be thinking: "I should be worried that she thinks we've been dating for 2 weeks, but I'm so happy right now I don't want to ruin the moment."
sketch 3: a more detailed sketch then the last 2 that shows saiki looking annoyed, he is wearing a simple cardigan and shirt, and the straps of an undershirt are visible. on his cheeks are two small heart shaped stickers.

I rambled about this before but since Herotaru has ended I will talk about it again
Nagihiyo is adorable. Like, I was already finding it really cute before because I am weak to childhood friends to lovers, but seeing the anime just...really reaffirms it.
Here’s Nagisa, who told Hiyori when they were tiny tots that dresses looked weird on her, all because he couldn’t handle how cute she was...
Hiyori, who several years later, wants to prove to him that she can be cute and dresses up solely to prove him wrong (so for his validation)...
It has the little relationship spices of being long distance friends but it’s hinted that they talk a lot off-screen.
But what really blew up the cuteness level was the infamous scene...
Knowing just what to say, and being 100% sincerely honest. He loves her- no matter what she looks like, which is arguably the, or at least one of, the biggest insecurities Hiyori herself has. Thinking she isn’t a heroine, thinking she isn’t cute enough, and so forth. He likes her when she’s dressed up. He likes her running and covered in sweat.
And from the expression Hiyori has, she’s really seeing him in that romantic light as well. Even if she can’t be in a relationship during high school thanks to being focused on her manager job and track, this is still something extremely impactful to her. Nagisa isn’t disappointed or frustrated (like Aizou and Yujiro were at the end of the episode) when Hiyori goes back to her old looks.
I mean, if anything, he was the one who mussed her hair back up.
I personally think now that Hiyori has that confirmation that there’s someone out there who wholeheartedly loves her, whether she’s dressed up or messy and sweaty, she can be more at ease with herself, and feel more and more like a true heroine.
And sometimes that little push is exactly what someone needs to face forward. Hiyori isn’t dwelling on her appearance anymore, because she’s happy with who she is now. She no longer has to think “well, dresses look weird on me anyway...”.
And the fact she didn’t say no, and she had to seriously think about her feelings for him, maybe she sees him as her own “most important person”. That person who she doesn’t want to leave her side at all, even though they’re far apart. And, of course, Nagisa feels the same way as she does in that regard.
And Nagisa has always seen Hiyori for who she is, all of her flaws and everything. He knows her inside out, and doesn’t care about the ugly sides. The two of them know each other better than anyone else in the entire world.
They both mutually benefit from each other's support, and they both fully believe that no matter what happens, they’ll make their dreams a reality. For them, it’s simply a given.
Hiyori knows that Nagisa will end up inheriting his father’s restaurant and that he’ll make it famously good.
And while Hiyori is still figuring out what she wants to do with her life, no matter what it is, Nagisa has full faith that since it’s Hiyori, she’ll be able to do it.
He’s never put her down about her dreams or anything, and the one time he did discourage her (about her appearance as kids), he makes sure to clarify when he realizes how much it affected her that he had no ill intentions, and that he was just a stupid little kid. (And little kids do stupid things, it isn’t something that should be held over him)
There’s just so much wholesomeness between the two of them, and I think that they genuinely deserve each other. They brighten each other’s days just merely being in each other’s presence.
They can both smile so much easier without the stress of family or work (or in Hiyori’s case, her coworkers...ahem, LIPxLIP I’m looking at you. Stop giving the poor girl so much genuine stress by being in the same room as her!)
Nagisa is someone who Hiyori can rely on and be her shoulder to cry on on the days she’s knocked down, and Hiyori is someone who will fully support Nagisa no matter what he does.
...Also, the idea that Nagisa and Hiyori live together when Nagisa attends a university in Tokyo with Nagisa being a malewife while Hiyori makes the money is really adorable.
(Of course, when Nagisa gets his father’s restaurant, they’ll both be working, but still...Nagisa malewife agenda let’s go!)

honestly, i think the biggest issue with choice based games currently is that they're all praised for being the same thing rather than something that breaks the mold. there's no room for uniqueness anymore! there's no room for storytelling! if you aren't a supernatural horror story with the same types of characters, then you shouldn't be a story at all. i thought this was just a thing in the dark pictures fandom, but i've seen it in other things too now and it's just. tiring. people turning their noses up at games like man of medan and little hope and demanding an until dawn 2 is exactly why the quarry was the half baked game it was, and yet is also why said game got much more positive feedback then the other two games mentioned. it was their until dawn 2 ; it had supernatural monsters, it was action heavy, and the characters were just vague enough that anyone could project anything onto them. and if that's your type of game, fine! no harm to you! but it's exhausting seeing creators be hated on when they try to do anything different. the dark pictures anthology was never supposed to be anything like until dawn, yet every bit of criticism was about how it wasn't. players don't understand the difference between personal preference and actually critique anymore, it's just. “ if this game isn't exactly like this then i don't want it and it's objectively bad! ” which couldn't be more wrong lol
little hope and man of medan did something different, whether they did it well or not is up to debate, but at least they tried -- in a space where that isn't common at all. and they did improve in some aspects! they were able to focus on the characters more since the group was shortened, a flaw they had in until dawn ( and then the quarry, most obviously ), the monsters designed in those two games were vastly creative in every regard, different for each individual character ... something that immediately changed in house of ashes and the quarry, since people only wanted an until dawn 2. it's just sad to see creativity get stomped on in a genre that should be more artistic than ever! and it's becoming more and more obvious as time goes on that people don't care about originality as much as they claim they do, they just want their favorite game over and over again. i've been seeing the same thing happen with as dusk falls and it's getting irritating to say the least. gamers claim they want something new, and then they get a game that's made the way it is simply because it's trying to challenge what's the norm, and then they throw a fuss about it. there's nothing supernatural about as dusk falls, it's not action heavy because it's not an action game ; it's a choice based game, which it does indeed deliver on! but since it's not your until dawn, or your twdg, then that means it has to be trash. story and characters don't matter the way it used to, and i wish people would simply acknowledge how biased they are rather than pretending to the gordon ramsey of gaming, since they're the very reason why games are following the same formula nowadays.
