i just started watching saiki but im convinced w/the whole 'cant see movies so i gotta watch tv to actually be surprised by something' thing would lead to a chronic tiktok addiction in the future.

hi, Julie! I'd never heard about Cariona before, so I decided to go poking around, and I learned something!

well, I learned a few things, actually. from your site, Cariona seems to be a small business that sells reusable menstrual products. and while I will never advertise a product that I haven't used, there's nothing wrong with wanting people to promote your company.

I have, however, found a few problems.

the first thing I found was this post by @crafiet from May 12th of last year, saying that shortly after making a purchase on your website, her debit card info was leaked, and used to make facebook ad purchases.

it seems that at least back then, your payment system was insecure. I'm really hoping you've fixed that, because. yikes.

and when I messaged crafiet to ask if it was okay if I linked to her post, she also mentioned that even though your website says you ship from Georgia, her package came shipped from China, and took a long time to arrive.

that's pretty sketchy.

the next thing I found was some folks talking about receiving cards with their orders that have a QR code on them with the words "Scan For God's Message To You", and that on the other side, have this bible verse:

...look. there's nothing inherently wrong with being christian. but to say "we do not wish to impose any beliefs on our customers", and to then put bible verse cards in people's orders? that's sneaky, and I don't like it.

I also think it's a bit sneaky that you've flagged your tumblr account as pro-trans on shinigami eyes. at least, I assume you flagged it yourselves, because I didn't find a single post on your blog that mentions trans issues.

and while your website uses very gender-neutral language, your "About Us" page doesn't say anything about being inclusive of trans people, just that you don't "discriminate against anyone who has a different belief than ours."

lastly, since you say on your website that people can message you asking about your faith, I had a friend do that!

and according to you, part of that 10% you donate goes to your local churches, and some missionaries. who are also probably baptists.

in the end, I just...don't trust you? I don't trust that the 10% you're donating is going to organizations that aren't homophobic or transphobic. I don't believe that you're not trying to impose your beliefs on others, because that's what you're obviously doing. I mean, your "About Me" says that one of the reasons you built this company is to spread the gospel.

and I especially don't like it that you reached out to me (an openly queer person) for promotion without mentioning that you're an evangelical company.

can i answer this for danse/me!!!! because like. god. i remember before i played fo4 i would watch my bf play it and he had danse as his companion a lot and. i just started watching him play more and more bc i started to feel IMMEDIATELY safe and protected by danse. my crush on him was instant. i started thinking about danse more and more. i barely even knew him yet but i felt so infatuated and longed for him. it just felt good right away, and i knew he was right for me. my love for him is unconditional and i hope he feels safe around me too. im sure thats how he knows im right too, he doesnt have to be or do anything different, he can just be himself and i'll love him regardless. even if hes a shit head sometimes <3

answering for danse/art. neither of them are very good with words. danse is a very "acts of service" type of person. if art has a piece of equipment or something that needs fixing, danse already has it jotted down in his head to fix it later. art doesnt even have to ask, danse is already on it and tinkering with art's gun or armor or whatever.

meanwhile, art is very touchy if hes close with someone. he used to be better with expressing his feelings thru words, but it got hard after everything he went thru. so he sometimes just touches danse on his shoulder, his arm, his back, or holds his hand when he needs attention. danse had to get used to being touched all the time, but now he picks up on when art needs something or is trying to express something because he'll just give danse little touches or stand/sit close enough that theyre touching in some way.

Where would they go on a 3am adventure?

this screams shane/elfie. elfie calls shane at 3 am asking if he wants to come over. hes like elfie, its 3 am, why. she says she misses him and she wants to see him. he absolutely cannot say no to her so hes throwing on his sweats and jacket and booking it to her farm. i think theyd just chill together, so not really...much of an adventure. but i can also see her calling him up being like "wanna go explore that cave on my farm? :)" and hes like. what the fuck, but okay.

gen question but i think most ppl in x reader spaces are female as far as i have experienced it so that they write female reader makes sense, right? or would you prefer if fics were all just gender neutral? also if its okay to ask: is it alright for those female writers to write male readers? i just think everybody writes what caters to them so the thought 'i have to make a blog for this' doesnt seem that bizzare. isnt that how female reader content comes to be as well? i just wanna know how we can be more inclusive/ diverse bc i dont know much outside gender neutral readers

I completely agree and I've said this on a previous post before that I understand the general population of the self ship and x reader community identifies as female, and therefore are women writing with the intention to come across to other women in their audience. I personally would much prefer people write what they feel up to writing, after all their art is for THEMSELVES! Nobody should be forced to write anything they don't want to.

Keeping this in mind, and I know I have personal feelings in this, but it feels a bit hurtful and borderline disappointing to always hear the "I don't know how to write male reader" line. Writers can write male characters but suddenly can't write a male character when it's in the form of a reader?

I can GUARANTEE there are trans people in this community that write AFAB women x male character readers and have no problems doing so. I write female characters all the time and I'm a guy. I don't understand where this sudden confusion pops up? This is not directed to you personally of course, I'm not upset with anyone in particular.

I cannot and will not speak for the entire queer x reader community, but a HUGE way you can help without having to bunker down and awkwardly write queer characters youre unsure of is uplifting and defending the people who do in your community. Are you rbing only AFAB readers? Are you being vocal about different bodies in your head canon musings? Do you FOLLOW openly queer people who write on tumblr? If you feel up to it, write a male reader x canon drabble! LISTEN TO CRITICISM and work around it! Don't be discouraged, and keep making the community better for everyone involved, even if you don't "make content" for that side of things. If you do decide to write for queer people but you're not queer yourself, sexual education is SO easy in the age of the internet!! Get yourself acquainted with strap ons, grinding pads, sensory toys ETC. It's not rocket science, everybody's got a hole !

And a note for people who do write gender neutral reader characters... maybe change up your body shapes every once in a while. Not every gender neutral person is AFAB.

Just remember that you have a voice to your followers, please make sure you're making the space safe for everyone by including us guys when you're musing about topics like "would your fave do this" or things like that.

reposting+byler fanart

In the byler fandom theres a recurring problem of reposting art and its been getting worse and its been frustrating me for a while now (especially since im an artist in the fandom) so i decided to make a post about it lol

im aware that theres lots of new young st fans, or if anyone simply didnt know,, what is reposting?

- reposting is basically just taking another users creation (whether its a simple word post, art, fic ex.) and posting it to another site

So whats the problem with reposting?

- the problem is that most times, the thing that is being reposted is posted without proper credit, or reposted when the creator doesnt want it to be reposted

why is this a problem in the byler fandom?

- reposting has been a problem in the fandom since forever (like most fandoms) however theres been a much bigger rise due to tik tok and pinterest, and ive never seen THIS much reposting (especially for just one ship) in a fandom before

- theres been an increase in popularity in tiktoks with a caption similar to something like "byler fanarts to make your day better!!" and then tons of different art by different artists being reposted- ALL WITHOUT CREDIT, AND ART THAT ARTISTS HAVE EXPLICITLY STATED THAT THEY DO NOT WANT TO BE REPOSTED

- there are TONS of pinterest accounts deticated to just reposting art from tumblr or instagram onto there (almost always without credit and permission)

all of this is bad because itll just increase the chain effect of reposting

all those fanarts reposted onto pinterest? theyre gonna be reposted onto tiktok, which people will resave to repost to yet ANOTHER app

- recently ive been seeing 'putting byler art into AI videos on tiktok AND THIS IS THE WORST POSSIBLE THING YOU CAN DO,, this basically means you STOLE an artists art, REPOSTED it without permission or credit, and then put it into a system WITHOUT the artists permission, that will take their art and steal their artstyle and hardwork

-another problem is "rating byler fanart" slideshows ive seen on tiktok too,,, thats so rude and disrespectful to artists. dont take artists for granted, without fanart the fandom would be in shambles,, rating peoples art and making rude remarks isnt cool, especially when youre stealing from them in the first place

also ive been seeing ways that people are "crediting" artists and:

-no, just because there is a signature or watermark on the art doesnt mean you can repost it

-no, putting "credit to artists" in the description isnt proper credit

- no, just because you DO credit them properly mean you are allowed to repost the art in the first place

- no, saying "oh i just found it on safari i dont know who the artists are :((" isnt a good excuse, artists spend hours on their work you can at least spend five minutes looking up who drew it

So, how do you repost art correctly?

1. Check the artists bio/description, if it says something along the lines of "reposts allowed" then continue, if it says something like "ask for permission before reposting" that means going to the art you want to repost and asking them if its okay to repost and name the where you want to repost it to! if there is nothing in the bio about reposting DONT REPOST IT OR SIMPLY JUST ASK, never assume

2. if you have the artists permission to repost, then repost the image, and in the description (or anywhere else that is clearly visible to viewers) state the artist's username and the app you reposted it from (ex, art credits to @/artist on *app*)

Thisll be long bc i do love utena but honestly i feel like theres more analytical discussion of utena than there is of most other anime except probably eva. U might have to go to the broader internet but ive read a few essays on utena. Now, probably fewer in the "was x handled well" type criticism, but i have seen trigger warning posts on here that break stuff down pretty well, and yeah if ur considering watching utena u should look for those (theres one ive seen thay breaks it down per episode(?))

Re: ship art- yes i do think ppl dont address utenas own critique of its fairy tale aesthetics in fan art yes im a lot more forgiving of seeing ship art of utena and anthy bc the story and themes are so centrally around them and the last few episodes really did permanently alter my brain chemistry.

Utena isnt for everyone- its abstract and plain hard to follow at times. Its extremely repetitive (tho id argue thats necessary to build the iconography of the show before deconstructing it). The subject matter can be very uncomfortable and its aged poorly in some parts.

That being said, utena is one of my favorite shows for a reason. its a great example of postmodernism and its articulated and validated a lot of stuff ive felt as a wlw and as an adolescent. Plus the trappings it criticizes are also well executed, haha.

This became an essay, but if u feel grossed out by the concept of the rose bride, good. Ur supposed to be.

I - Has Tumblr caused you to stop liking any fandoms, if so, which and why? uhh. a couple, probably?? but i cant think of any off the top of my head :PP most of the ones that i can think of ALSO come from things like. me growing up. like, south park?? i grew out of that one HARD, but also seeing all the incredibly weird/bad takes on tumblr really sped up the process LOL. other ones i have never been into but their fandom just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. like, welcome home?? yikes

This is the same anon from the last ask! I'm sending this as another ask because it's a slightly different topic. I just wanted to add to what you said here:

What I meant when I said that boundary lists are weird its because, as Quackity said, sometimes they are just a pile of things someone said years ago in a certain context and then some people use that against other people that aren't doing anything wrong <- by this I mean, for example a lighthearted/joke shipping art of a moment in a stream.

This has come up in a similar way with some creators who have tried to come out subtly but have essentially been put back in the closet by their fans, who insist[ed] that no fans can acknowledge it because it would be against boundaries that the ccs had put in place years ago. Like you said, boundaries definitely have been really important because of the people who are really gross towards ccs, but they can also be rigidly enforced by fans at times in ways that don't acknowledge how situations/creators may have changed. Or rigidly enforced in ways that don't recognize that there can also be different levels of actions, if that makes sense (i.e. assuming a creator isnt straight when theyre trying to come out through subtle jokes / signals, vs being genuinely invasive about a creators sexuality).

It's interesting seeing creators having to address boundaries on stream, but like not just stating their boundaries, but also discussing the ways the boundaries are enforced

I've come to realize that there's so much people chronically online these days, not in one community but in general. All the boundaries and how are they enforced talk comes from the base that people look for fucked up ways to dehumanize content creators. Fuck all those people. If you think that because someone made a racist/misogynistic/homophobic comment years ago they are a racist now at the same time that you refuse to acknowledge how people change, go touch some grass. If you think you can speculate about someone's sexuality, go touch some grass. If you think anyone owes you a full ID card that includes sexuality, age, race and religion before talking about a social issue, go touch some grass.

Don't ask online people the things you wouldn't ask IRL people, easy as that. No one should have to give a talk about their boundaries and how to enforce them to get the basic human respect.
