#i also think there was a moment of like--parental jealousy? on lily's end

Probably unpopular opinion but… James would have been a better parent than Lily, and probably would have been the one to adjust to parenthood the easiest.
oooooh, controversial, anon
i feel like my answer to this would be equally unpopular but i agree with you
and the thing is, there's no specific reason for it, either. absolutely no basis in canon (where we see examples of lily's parenthood, not james) but i just--am really biased towards my boy ykno?
in addition to viewing james as nurturing/like a caretaker, i also feel like lily was the more selfish of the two. and more independent as well. so she would take time to adjust to this entire human depending on her whereas james is a fkn sponge--he'll love having harry attached to him at all times. he was also a lonely child who adored his parents and wanted something similar to that whereas lily's family situation was, well. ykno.
so yeah, i dont know if i'd call it a better parent, exactly (james was almost def the more indulgent of the two, and would always put harry's happiness over everything, even if it could be detrimental so he had his faults) but i do think he was a natural parent and it came harder to lily.

Okay but Perunia, Vernon, Dudley, and Harry with Dursley!Reader who receives their own acceptance letter to Hogwarts??
Maybe the Reader is the younger cousin to Harry, being the only one in the family who has ever treated Harry like a human being and is good to him, standing up for him whenever their brother or parents berate him or torment him. Really they’re the closest thing to a sibling he ever had, making them the only good thing about being at Privet Drive. Heck, they even offered up to share their room with Harry so that he wouldn’t have to be in the cupboard under the stairs anymore. They’re also the only one who has given him birthday presents and little treats to make up for a birthday cake. Or they convince Petunia to help them or at least let them make Harry a birthday cake, even if it’s just a little birthday cupcake.
Given that the Reader is younger than Harry, maybe one or two years at least, he would have already been accepted to and in attendance at Hogwarts himself by the time they got their letter. Imagine his excitement at the fact that his favorite cousin is magical like him and that they’ve been accepted to come to school with him. He’s overcome with giddiness while the Dursley’s are reeling in their worst nightmare coming true.
Sure, there were some magical abnormal occurrences that took place when regarding the Reader but it couldn’t have been magic. It was NOT magical whatsoever! At least that’s what Petunia and Vernon stand by, but in reality they’ve been in complete denial about the fact that one of their children is just like Harry. It would honestly be a similar reaction to when Harry got his first letter and trying to hide the Reader/runaway with them so the letters couldn’t find or follow them. But Harry wouldn’t let that happen, he’s going to get his cousin to Hogwarts one way or another.
I definitely feel like Petunia would be conflicted. This is her child after all, her baby and they’ve ended up being just like her late sister. She feels terrible even thinking of turning her back on her own child but they aren’t ‘normal’ anymore. She may even feel some of that old jealousy that she held towards Lily when she turned out to be magical creeping it’s way back into her. But how could she be jealous and resentful of her own child? It’s not their fault! If anything this was all Lily’s doing from the grave to ruin something that Petunia held dearest. But Petunia wouldn’t allow this new development to ruin her relationship with her child. No, she would be there for them. Vernon on the other hand may need some coming around to. Dudley wouldn’t even know what to do, yet what to even think about the situation.
Imagine the Dursley’s and Harry taking the Reader shopping for their school supplies. Harry is happily dragging the Reader around everywhere they need to go for their supplies, their list in his hand as he does so. Meanwhile, Petunia, Vernon and Dursley are all trying to keep up behind them as they’re overwhelmed with so much abnormality and oddities surrounding them. Harry enjoys every second of it. But what he enjoys the most is the look of awe and amazement in the Reader’s eyes at everything around them.
Petunia would be extremely emotional when it came to the Reader leaving on the Hogwarts Express. She wouldn’t be able to contain herself. Everything she’d been holding in would come out in that moment as she tightly holds on to her child before they have to leave her for awhile. Vernon and Dudley are probably out waiting for her in King’s Cross Station, Vernon not wanting to take that final step into the wizarding world by entering the magical gateway. Not to mention he would have totally broke down watching the magical train leave with the Reader and he wouldn’t want Petunia or Dudley to witness that.
Harry would be on the edge of his seat when the Reader is getting sorted. He hopes and prays that they end up with him in Gryffindor but he would support them ending up in any other house. Even if it were Slytherin but he hoped they wouldn’t end up there. No matter what Harry would support and protect his cousin, especially if Draco were to make them his new target to bully. Harry will throw hands without hesitation and rearrange Draco’s ferret face if he said or did anything to his cousin. Not to mention the Reader would have Ron, Hermione, the rest of the Weasley’s and a good majority of the Gryffindor House to back them up and look out for them too.
Also, the Weasley’s totally adopt the Reader into their family and they get their very own special Weasley sweater. Molly adores them, especially since Harry’s spoken so highly and positively about them out of the family he has left. Honestly, they’re they only one of of his muggle family that he speaks about at all.
Imagine one of the Slytherin purebloods falling for and becoming yandere for Dursley!Reader and Petunia, Vernon, Dudley and Harry having to deal with that. Like, imagine Pansy Parkinson or Blaise Zambini showing up randomly at the Dursley’s house or something just wanting to see the Reader/be close to them and getting to witness what these muggles are really like. One visit, most likely only a few minutes in and the romantic!yandere already decides that yeah I need to get my darling away from these people.

going insane pls tell me anything about the unexplored sibling dynamics
i'm... literally so sorry anon. you probably didn't expect this monstrosity of text when you so innocently sent this ask but i wrote this late at night and i guess i had more feelings about these mfs than i thought i did... huh
the evans sisters?? stop and consider for a moment. they grew up in a lower middle class family, father was always out for work, mother stayed at home and took care of them and the house. lily and petunia were all for each other, sisters, best friends. and then lily's magic started showing. one year their mom's flowers hadn't bloomed like they usually do and their mom was understandably upset. petunia tried everything she knew about gardening in hopes of fixing the flowers and lily just willed them to open with the wave of a hand. she jumped up in excitement and ran to her mom to tell her what had just happened while petunia stared at the flowers in shock, trying to figure out what lily had just done so she could too. but it never worked for her like it did for lily.
their parents thought it was strange at first, a coincidence or dumb luck whenever lily pulled some trick, but petunia knew and she tried so hard to replicate it, to no avail. eventually the jealousy turned into resentment, curios questions turned into insults every time lily would do something. lily was so confused because she hadn't done anything? she tried to not do it anymore, even if she herself didn't know how she was doing it, but her magic only grew stronger and petunia's insults became more intense. when lily received her hogwarts letter, she was so excited to finally be surrounded by people like her. her parents congratulated her, her mother kissed her temple and her father promised they would take her shopping to get everything she needed. petunia only glared at her, muttering how she would finally be together with the freaks where she belonged.
petunia never sent any letters to lily while she was at hogwarts, at least not on her own accord. lily would send her birthday gifts every year, something she had made herself. a happy birthday card that was charmed to sing when it opened, a sparkling bouquet of flowers charmed to never close. every year without fail petunia would send the birthday gift back, either untouched or ripped to shreds. lily never gave up trying.
i genuinely believe lily's relationship with petunia fundamentally shaped her understanding of the world. the closest person to you, the one meant to protect you and love you, shunning you and leaving you to fend for yourself? it's no wonder lily clung to the first bit of kinship she sensed in severus and refused to let go of him even when everyone told her to. because he was always there for her and she wouldn't dare leave him behind (not like petunia had). also just a personal hc for lily, but i think she trouble making female friends specifically because of how her relationship with petunia had deteriorated. like in my head she had severus and no one else until like... fourth year maybe when she finally started coming out of her shell and became friends with mary and marlene
lily never stopped loving petunia, she knew harry would go to her and she still trusted petunia enough to protect her son. yet petunia did the exact opposite. i wanna put her under a microscope because how does it get that bad??? how do you let your childish jealousy take over your life to the point where you neglect and abuse an innocent child - your own nephew??? you don't stop being a sister just because the other half is dead, but i think petunia had stopped seeing herself as lily's sister long before lily died.
everyone talks about the black brothers but the black SISTERS??? arguably even more interesting bc you have more dynamics to explore bc they're all so different but in the end they're one in the same.
they were all raised to be obedient and quiet, their last name meaning nothing but an easy way to marry them off because continuing the bloodline was all they were good for. bellatrix was always loud, even as a child, because she was taught her family was superior and she couldn't understand why she wasn't treated the way she deserved to be. did her family name mean nothing just because she wasn't a male heir? did her extensive knowledge in magic mean nothing because the only way she could make her parents proud was by becoming a wife and a mother? why was she punished for the same behaviors her male counterparts were rewarded for? bella never thought to question blood purity as it was ingrained in her since birth, but the roles that she was forced to play didn't seem noble to her.
andromeda was quieter in comparison, but never far too behind bellatrix, always nodding along and eager to make her older sister proud. the seeds of doubt in her mind were planted later at hogwarts and she foolishly asks questions, only getting punished in response. when she's pushed away by her mother, she turns to the one person who would never hurt her for her curiosity but even her sister can give her no further answer than "father said so". frustrated and disappointed, andromeda closes in on herself and seeks her own answers, coming to conclusions that make the entire foundation of her family fall apart.
narcissa was the "perfect daughter", the one that would only speak when spoken to, the one that could walk into a room unnoticed and leave without anyone saying a single word to her. she was a slytherin, engaged to the malfoy heir at 16, she had practically completed all of her duties by then and proved to be useful. but she was also bella and andy's little sister, the one hiding behind them so no one could see her, the one tugging on their sleeves when she felt anxious, the one braiding flowers into their hair when she was bored, the one watching silently as both of her sisters drifted away and she was left alone.
andromeda leaving is such a heartbreaking moment to me because i think both bellatrix and narcissa knew it would happen, they had seen the signs but had never known the cause. i think bellatrix tried to to stop her from going through with it, tried to convince her to stay, to explain what was troubling her because bellatrix was her older sister, she could help, that was her job. and andromeda pushes her away because she knows bellatrix would never look at her again if she told her what was troubling her. when the truth is finally revealed, the only question bella can muster is: "do you trulu love him more than your own family?" and andromeda's silence is enough of an answer. she refuses to be like her mother, like bellatrix is soon to become, like narcissa will be forced to, a wife stuck in a loveless marriage with children she didn't want. ted loves her and she loves ted, that love means more than the conditional affections she was given in her family.
that action, the betrayal of choosing someone of dirty blood over her own sisters had surely left a mark on both bellatrix and narcissa. narcissa attempted to get closer to bellatrix again, tried to provide some comfort and familiarity but bellatrix was inconsolable. she fled england completely, choosing instead to focus on her magic as her mind slowly closed in on itself. and narcissa was left alone again, her only solace a marriage she forced herself to pretend would make her happy, would fill the void of what her sisters had destroyed.
and so many years later, you can tell the wound never closed. narcissa, who watched as everything unfolded without daring to interfere, looking the dark lord in the eyes and lying to protect her family because she understands andromeda now, nothing is worth losing the ones you love and the ones who love you. her son looks toward her for protection and she will provide it in any way she can, because her son's life means more than anything the dark lord could ever offer.
bellatrix, who has never dared to go against voldemort's orders, bending the rules and allowing narcissa to protect her son because somewhere in the back of her mind a voice whispered "what if she leaves like andromeda did? what if she chooses her new family over you too?" and narcissa did, she turned her back in the last battle and left without sparring a single glance.
i know people only made evan and pandora siblings out of convenience so they could give pandora a last name but YOU COWARDS! if you're gonna make them siblings then make them siblings!! i have an entire background on their family but that's too complicated to explain here but GIVE ME SOMETHING INTERESTING WITH THEM??? wartime rosier twins who never see each other but evan insists on writing letters bc he misses his sister so much?? pandora missing him too but she doesn't know what to do because the same hands that are writing these letters are holding innocent people at wand point and using unforgivable curses?? PANDORA'S REACTION TO EVAN'S DEATH??? helllooooo???
+ i know that the black brothers have been explored plenty but i still think their relationship has been softened?? ig. like we've stripped these characters down to their bare bones trying to make them good people when they don't need to be?? give me black brothers who love each other but hate each other all in the same breath. black brothers who strive to prove themselves better than the other. black brothers who see the other as a personification of their worst traits (sirius sees regulus as a coward (literally canon) and regulus sees sirius as a traitor). give me sibling resentment because i wholeheartedly believe they were pit against each other by walburga and orion.
sirius was smarter, better, more powerful, more charismatic than regulus. he was raised to he the perfect heir, the one to continue the bloodline of the most noble house, he was raised to think himself better than the rest. regulus was the spare, the 'worst case scenario' child, the one that struggled to live up to the fraction of his brother's natural talent and skill. give me sirius knowing he's better and throwing it in regulus' face. give me regulus manipulating sirius into leaving so he can be the true heir. give me regulus grieving for sirius only after he realizes what he has lost, but never reaching out, even when he finds the locket. regulus, who has spent his whole life trying to outshine sirius knowing it was a pointless battle, taking this one action into his own hands and doing the brave thing alone. give me sirius, almost two decades later, still bitter and disappointed as he passes by his dead brother's door refusing to even glance inside, because the resentment (and the grief of what could've been) never truly wears away.
anyone who read this far deserves a medal bc i would've taken one look at this post and said "i ain't reading all that" so thank you <3

Hey, I wanted to ask you if you have any tips in writing Lily and Petunia’s relationship. I’m trying to write a fic about Petunia and Lily’s sisterly relationship and how it started off great but then completely shattered into pieces. I really love the way you characterize each of them, the qualities and personalities. For example, in ksfm, the part where Petunia doesn’t show an ounce of remorse when Lily arrives to her home.
It really shows the differences between both sisters, thing is Lily would forgive Petunia for anything she did to her. But after knowing everything she did to Harry it’s just, the bridge of sisterhood was completely destroyed and for good reason. How did you come up with the scenes/flashbacks when Lily saw the memories of her son being neglected/hurt by her sister and brother in law?
At this point I surpassed “broken record” because ksfm is brilliant I hope you know this. I like that you didn’t shy away from the abuse that Harry went through and the rage that Lily felt. The complexity between Lily and Petunia is so interesting. They grew up in the same family, however they both went down two different paths. Not just magical vs muggle, the dynamic is unique in its own way.
personality wise, Lily is loving, caring and will do anything to protect the ones she loves. While, Petunia is vindictive, filled with jealousy that caused hatred to consume her. Which to be honest it’s something that every family has in real life, you could live in the same house, same parents and raised with the same morals. However, that means absolutely nothing when you go against everything, talking about Petunia here. Do you have any headcanons about these two sisters in particular?
I know, there’s lots of people who shouldn’t be parents, Hell… my sisters are bad parents and it fills me with absolute rage knowing they have children/teenagers when they don’t even love them. Example, one of my eldest sisters let her boyfriend implement “discipline” to her two boys by that it was making them kneel down as they held two thick books (like bibles) in each hand for over an hour during a cold shower, I found out about this after they told me a few years after, they felt trapped (I was only 13 when they told me this) My other sister calls my nieces (ages 9-18) horrid/degrading words everyday and anytime I speak out on that, she always says “your not a mom, but when you are you’ll do this very same thing” which boggles my mind because I would never (this is the same sister who is extremely racist and wants me to baptize her daughter like wth?)
sorry for the rambling but what I’m trying to say is thanks for showing how Harry grew up, because many times people don’t understand how horrid life could be. I feel you did a great job in showing this, yes it’s uncomfortable but it also helps so many people who have been through abuse and/or seen it firsthand.
Sorry for the multiple questions, 😅 I always try to condense my words but I end up adding more(Also, the moment Lily uses crucio on Vernon I listened to Bodies- Drowning Pool, because he deserves every bit of that from Lily.)
Hope you have a good day, friend ❤️
First of all, I just want to say that I'm so sorry for what your nieces and nephews have gone through. My heart aches to hear about that and I hope they're okay. I hope you're okay too, because I can't imagine how difficult that's been for you as well. I know this won't feel like much, but sending lots of love and hugs your way❤️🫂
As for your question, I think Lily and Petunia's relationship is so interesting and has the potential for so much depth. I definitely agree with your character analysis of both of them – it really is so fascinating how two people from the same family can end up so different! I like what you said about their relationship starting out good and then shattering as they grew up – that's definitely the headcanon that I went with in KSFM.
My approach to their backstory in KSFM is to think about their story in terms of two phases: phase one is before Lily (and her family) found out that she's a witch, and phase two is after. I like the idea that in phase one, Lily and Petunia were really close. I don't have a sister, but I do have a brother and all of my cousins are significantly older than me (at least a decade, most of them more), so I know from personal experience what it's like to grow up in a family where only one other person is close to your age. In my case, my brother and I were like partners in crime, fierce allies through it all. We were really close, because quite frankly there was nobody else we wanted to hang out with at family events (when our parents were with the other adults) and all the other various social things our parents would drag us to. That's sort of a tangent haha, but I'm just explaining where I'm coming from in this. I like the idea that Lily and Petunia were really close as little kids, particularly in those years before Lily knew what she was. I also think Lily definitely looked up Petunia growing up, because it's definitely a very natural thing for younger siblings to idolize the older one! Petunia might have even felt protective of Lily in those days, before the jealousy took over. In KSFM, Lily was homeschooled in her pre-Hogwarts days because her parents were so worried about the accidental magic (that they didn't understand) and what could happen to Lily if people found out about it. So Petunia and Snape were the only friends Lily had back then and I think, in those days, they both meant the world to her.
Their relationship started to sour when Lily found out (from Snape) that she was a witch. We obviously know from canon that Petunia was really jealous, and that jealousy was canonically what caused Petunia to become spiteful and (eventually) abusive. I also believe that Snape greatly exacerbated the growing divide between Lily and Petunia during those days. He obviously didn't like Petunia, and I think he wanted to drive a wedge between her and Lily so that he could have Lily for himself (that and the fact that he just clearly didn't like Muggles). I wonder if maybe a big part of Petunia's hatred for magic was Snape and the way he inserted himself into Petunia and Lily's lives. It's possible that if he hadn't done that, Lily and Petunia would've spent more time together as kids and maybe that would have tamed some of Petunia's jealousy. (Emphasis on maybe though because I don't want to let Petunia off the hook, she made her own choices about how she treated others.)
In writing KSFM, I wanted to add some more depth to Lily and Petunia's backstory because I didn't want Petunia to come off as a 3-dimensional villain purely motivated by jealousy. So, in KSFM, there's the added element of their mother's death and everything that came after it. I see that as the incident that fully doomed the sisters' relationship irreparably. It's a very tragic thing, because both of them were deeply hurt by it in different ways. For Lily, her father tried to protect her from the months of pain and didn't tell her that her mother was sick until she was on her deathbed, which is obviously a very horrible thing because Lily never got to say goodbye. I'm sure she also feels a certain level of enduring guilt because she wasn't there for her mother during that time, even though that's obviously not her fault since she wasn't told what was going on. On the other side, Petunia did know because she was there in Cokewoth through all of it, so she lives with the memory of those long months filled with hardship when her mother was in continuous decline. She probably did get to say goodbye, but that doesn't mean the experience was easy. It's just a different kind of pain.
All of this is an extremely long way of saying that Lily & Petunia both experienced a traumatic loss that affected the rest of their lives. Petunia's reaction to that was to externalize that pain and become bitter and spiteful. Lily's reaction was to internalize that pain and do everything she can to not let her loved ones feel it too. Petunia's backstory made her abusive while Lily's made her protective.
I also think you're right in that Lily would've kept trying to make amends with Petunia and likely never would've given up completely on their relationship if it wasn't for Harry. Petunia's treatment of her son makes her irredeemable to Lily. There's just no going back from something like that. It was really tough to write the flashbacks with Harry and the Dursleys because it's such a heartbreaking thing to think about but I knew it was important to the overall story to show it because Harry's childhood definitely affects him profoundly. I don't remember exactly how I approached writing that, but I was very conscious of the fact that even though Vernon was louder about it all, Petunia was just as cruel. If not more so. Treating Harry the way she did was her way of "getting back" at Lily for making Petunia feel so unappreciated and not being there for her during that difficult time with their mother (even though, like I said, none of that was Lily's fault). Petunia's logic is warped and twisted from spite, and Harry, sadly, is the one who suffered the consequences of that.
That's very long-winded (and I'm not sure I phrased it correctly) but I hope that helps? The fun thing from a writing standpoint is that we know very little about how Lily and Petunia grew up, outside of the small snapshots we get from canon, so there's so much freedom to create a dynamic relationship!
I can't wait to hear more about your Lily & Petunia fic. It sounds so interesting and I'm sure it will be brilliant!❤️
As always, thank you so much for your kind words about KSFM! I'm so so happy you're still enjoying it!!! (and sorry that this answer turned into a very long essay😅 Apparently I have a lot of thoughts!!)
Thanks for the ask!!❤️❤️❤️❤️

Faithful friends are hard to find
"Dear Sev," she wrote, the dark ink of her quill flowing across the parchment as she paused and took a deep breath
"I wish things were different. I miss our talks, your advice. I can't believe how long it has been since we properly talked."
Lily sat at her new kitchen table, pausing in her letter writing once again. She stared out the window, through the flicker of the candle flame that was projecting soft light in the room and across the yard to the line of trees that marked the end of their property. The table wasn't really new but it was new to her. It had belonged to her soon-to-be in-laws previously but they had recently downsized and generously gave Lily and James furnishings for their new home in Godrics Hollow.
Effie and Monty, James' kind and elderly parents, were wonderful people. But their generous nature left a gnawing feeling in Lily. A feeling she couldn't quite put a name to yet. She was so grateful for their love but the weight of the loss of Lily's own parents lay so heavy inside her heart that sometimes the Potters' affection felt like a tremendous hurricane inside her gut. She felt like she was fighting a battle inside herself between grief and love as well as comfort and loneliness. And perhaps, Lily thought as she tapped her finger against the wooden table top, those feelings weren't as diametrically opposed as she once thought.
"My parents died. Don't know if you would have heard."
While the sudden death of her parents in a tragic car crash left an aching void in her life, Lily had hopes that the tragedy would bring her and her sister back together. The thought that Petunia would put aside her competitive jealousy and they could comfort each other had been a tiny hope for Lily. But Petunia's refusal to attend her upcoming wedding added another layer of sorrow and frustration.
"I want you to be at my wedding, to witness a moment I thought we'd share as friends. Remember when the Twickys got married, the couple who owns the bookstore in Cokeworth? We snuck into the tent at the reception and nicked some cake. We ate it in the park while sitting on the swings. The cake had coconut on it and we were both disgusted. Who has coconut on their wedding cake?"
The quill trembled in her hand as she drafted a letter to her former childhood friend. Best friends they once referred to each other as.
"I wish life stayed that simple for us. "
Memories flooded back, a mixture of warmth and pain. She missed their late-night conversations in the park between their homes, his quick wit, and the way he seemed to have an answer for everything. But their paths had diverged irreparably. She hadn't spoken to him in years.
Her father had fought in a war before she was born. Risking his life to fly planes over the channel into occupied territory. Her dad was brave. Her dad was her hero. Her dad taught her to do the right thing even if it is hard. Even if it risks your life.
He also taught her that forgiveness is a powerful message of love. And sometimes in order for a person to apologize to you and start to make amends you must reach out to them first and offer them a branch of redemption to hang onto.
"I've been having dreams recently that you show up at my house. Sometimes it's in the middle of the night in the rain. Sometimes it's bright and sunny. But you are always there. And you tell me you don't know what you were thinking. That you've seen the errors in your ways and you no longer want to follow Him. And I apologize to you too. For cutting you out. For not listening to you. For hurting you.
But I wake up and -"
And nothing has changed. He still supports a group of blood supremacists. She is still a muggle born. She still knows what's right and what's wrong. She needs to protect herself and her new family. She needs to be brave. To fight.
Tears attempted to fill the edges of her vision as she looked at the unfinished letter, a silent testament to the fracture in their relationship. The parchment felt heavy with the unspoken truths that lay as a barrier between them.
She folded the unfinished letter and held it over the candle on the table, watching the edges of parchment blacken and curl, the words disappearing into the smoke. The pain of letting go mingled with a sense of closure. The letter, like their severed bond, was reduced to ashes.
In the warm light of the flame, Lily found a moment of solace.
Some ties, no matter how cherished, were destined to be extinguished for the sake of safety and principles.

My dear living adventure to escape (THIRD CHAPTER)
my dear-maybe this life is not for me
Author note
Hello everyone author here so in trying to update everyday I did write a lot more but it don't save so I'm trying to rewrite this on a school night wish me luck 🥲
"GIYU WAIT UP DONT LEAVE ME HERE WITH HER😢" was what sabito said before giyu left him
"Think this as pay back sabito" Giyu said looking back at Sabito with a grin Giyu was really leaving him well nothing we can do now
A few minutes later
"GIYU WHY DID YOU LEAVE ME"sabito was on the brink of tears how pitiful of Sabito always telling Giyu to act like a man yet not acting one himself what a fucking hypocrite Sabito is I hope Giyu finds a better man
Giyu was sitting on one of the garden benches when he respond back to Sabito
"i told you one and I'll tell you again think of this as pay back" Giyu responded Giyu had no regrets for what he had just done
"Why are you like this Giyu?" Sabito cried out he went beside Giyu and joined him on the bench
Kizana watched in anger she was hiding behind one of the flower covered bush careful in to not making any sounds
It was about 3 at the time and Giyu started to lay on Sabito shoulder that's when Sabito heard breathing where his shoulder was Giyu was asleep and Sabito had gotten flustered when he realized it he would've pushed Giyu off but he looked so peaceful and well beautiful his beauty was nothing compare to the garden he was far much more even compare to roses, daffodils, daisys, wisteria,Sakura, lotus, lilies,
Kizana could only watch in jealousy
It was about 5 when they were called once again Giyu had stayed with Sabito until he got called for dinner since Tsutako thought Giyu had left a few hours ago and didn't realize that Sabito was still here
"Giyu"a voice said it also came with a knock and that person was Sabito he had brought Giyu some food and some spare food for the trip they were bout to take a trip with no guarantee of making it out alive well maybe not that but you get the gist
By the time the lights went out it was 10 pm as well it was fall so it wasn't cold but it want warm either Sabito climb out from one of the windows in his bed room somehow he ended up with the smallest bedroom out of the 4 that was spilt amount his siblings and family it was still bigger than the servants quarter but smaller than either of his sisters or his parents
Giyu followed Sabito from the window Sabito jump down mid way as he slip against the walls it was hard enough to go down a wall but "a wall with no vines like in the books was even harder how does every book about how a royale escapes there's always some vine they use to escape" Giyu thought to himself Giyu was definitely the smarter one amount the duo he went to school with Sabito for as long as he remembered there wasn't a single moment in their lives that they were separated Giyu was also the one with a more feminine build Sabito was a lot more strong than Giyu only physically though physiologically Giyu was ,and there they were always there for each other no mater what
It only took a few more seconds till Sabito hit the ground with a thump ..... he fell how fucking stupid of him even inosuke would do that, Sabito looked at Giyu when he gracefully landed on the ground unlike him but that's when the escape really started Sabito looked around to see if there was any guards in sight when there wasn't they made their move they ran faster and faster to the point Giyu legs were trembling they were out of the palace's property out of its range it was to a point there's chance no one would find them till early morning
Both kids ran though the city by the time they were out of the kingdom it was about 12 if they kept at this pace they would be at the wisteria house by maybe 2 am
Giyu was tired but they have to keep running or they'll get caught and who would want that they ran into the enchanted forest ,the enchanted forest was a a clear flower path with blossoms as well as wisteria surrounding it the forest lit up the fire flys flew and the gems in the ground shined Sabito picked up one of the flowers it was a peony he took the flower and put in in Giyu hair, Giyu face turned a bright red after that
(Yk how in Sao they level up their skills it's kinda like that but more sword play and elemental it's kinda a sao Genshin mix also Genshin vision names cause I like how it sounds)
The gems color only become more vibrant as they walked the trail till they came to an open area a grassy flowery meadow no more trees only clear ground from here to where as far as his vision could see Sabito jumped into to soft grass and laid there for a moment
"Giyu come join me" Sabito said with a smile
"Look Sabito we're gonna have to hurry before that wisteria house thinks we made a sick joke of our reservation" Giyu looked at Sabito his eyes wandered of to some flowers in the distance as well as dragging Sabito to look at them
"Take a Break Giyu really we've been running for like an hour so chill out"Sabito responded to Giyus attempt to try getting him to move as well as dragging him
"Oh well then I'm leaving you" Giyu said walking away from Sabito,Sabito was laying in the meadow until Giyu tried to drag him
Sabito looked at Giyu when he he started to walk away from him after some time of Giyu leaving the meadow and Sabito behind,Sabito heard something or maybe someone...........
Footsteps............
loud ones stomping so loud it trembled the whole forest the birds started to fly away and the tiny critters began to hide while others ran what he saw left him speechless.............
.........A demon......
he thought to himself 'I thought these didn't exist anymore' anymore he said from he heard of demons when his father was a demon slayer, demons were man eating monsters that prey on humans, although Sabito has had training as a swordsman and was More than capable of taking down one himself he didn't have enough courage to do it himself
The Demon was a monstrously large, veiny, hulking monster with olive green skin, blood red fingernails, and beady yellow eyes with cross-hatch shaped pupils , all that training would do nothing against it he though when the demon turned its head to Sabito it stared at him with cold eyes
"What do we have here?" The demon questioned Sabito never responded
The demon reaches several of his arms at him with high speeds before he could react someone had pushed him before he could get hit
it was ✨Giyu✨ and yet with Sabito not getting thrown by the demon , Giyu was knocked to a tree his arm hit the tree first it started to bleed gushes of blood coming out but before Sabito could react to the blood coming out of Giyu' s arm the demon again again took another swing to him again yet this time the arm fell off
"HUH HOW DID MY ARM FALL OFF?"the demon questioned as he took another swing at Sabito that same arm also fell beneath him, a elderly man with a tenth mask stepped in
"EH WHO ARE YOU?"the demon questioned the man
The man said nothing as he Took out his katana once again before he attempted to slicing its head off yet the demon dodge the attack as trying to form one himself  before one of his arms shot up from the ground the floor trembled once again
The took a swing at the demons neck with its sword and with it the demon was now dead his head and body started to fade into ash
"Are you boys okay?" The man questioned concerned of what just happened it was a lot to take in
"Im fine I think-" Sabito was cut off after remembering that Giyu still had blood coming out of him like a bloody tampon
Sabito ran toward Giyu checking to see if he was okay the pulse was fast his heart rate definitely increase as well as there still blood from when he took a hit from the demon his arm would be okay and he would live but he did pass out, the man help bandage Giyu

What kind of person do you think lily was? There's a lot said about her in the series, but i have trouble reconciling pure, shining paragon lily with someone who would marry someone that spent years tormenting her friend, 4 on 1.
ooh boy this will be a LOT. i can't even promise it will be coherent but i'll make an attempt to be. (going under a cut to save us all the grief).
first off, i think it's fair to state that one of the biggest drawbacks of lily's character is how she was written. she is a plot device. she exists to boost other characters’ narratives: she's simultaneously the Rich Boy's trophy wife, the self-sacrificing mother of the Boy Who Lived, the best friend slash lost love of the Fallen Hero, and, at the same time, also no one at all. lily is a character with little to no background and character development that she can barely stand on her own two feet without any of the associated (usually male) characters to prop her up. it absolutely sucks but that's how it is. that's how jk wrote her.
given that and working with the scraps that we do have, my opinion of lily is...complex. i try to give her justice by trying to understand her context, the workings of her mind, and the possible pressures she was subjected to, but it can be challenging especially since lack of canon pushes you into a space where you have to put them in Either/Or situations. my opinion of her has also changed as i got older. when i was younger (i read the books waaaay back, as they were getting released in fact) i only saw her as an extra character (i was most interested in snape, if that's not obvious enough, but neither did i think snape was 'obsessed' with her as a lot of hp fans now think). i saw her and snape as good friends who had had a falling out, and that he'd probably had a crush on her at some point, and it got naturally overtaken by guilt etc when she died. then when i reread some chapters containing her, i was quick to put her in the Bad Friend camp. i don't think that now. i think that she, like snape, was a complex human being who made a lot of questionable decisions but shouldn't be entirely vilified for them.
my main thoughts of her that are kind of built on material from canon as well as what jkr has said herself:
- she was not posh. she grew up in cokeworth, in the same town as severus. i don't think she was middle class as a lot of fics portray her. i think the evanses were slightly better off than the snapes but they were all working-class, and living was a day-to-day struggle. the kids spoke in the local accent, their clothes were all worn and patched over, there were no green spaces or public infrastructure for kids to safely play in, and they were all mostly running wild about the town since all their parents had to work. food was something to be thankful for because there was never enough, and sometimes they had to share with their neighbors. that's the kind of setting i think lily and severus grew up in, although severus suffered abuse on top of it all. it's possible that lily did too because of the setting (post-world war 2, poverty, adults dealing with repressed trauma from the war, etc) and it wouldn't even be that surprising if she had been;
- she and petunia got along fairly well up until the point lily found out she was a witch and, as a result, became friends with severus. it's stated in canon that petunia had also wanted to attend hogwarts with them, going as far as writing to dumbledore to allow her admittance. her jealousy upon his rejection had festered and grown into outright hate that she projected onto harry as an adult, but i don't doubt that she continued to love lily even after her death and despite how she treated harry. i think as kids they had stuck together and were very close, but magic had torn them apart. suddenly lily had a world of her own that petunia wasn't welcome in, and that would have hurt. pottermore stated lily attended vernon and petunia's wedding or engagement party but james made a right mess of it. i think lily TRIED to maintain their relationship but external factors always got in the way. i don't doubt she had also loved her sister very much;
- i don't think she had any other friends. she may have had a lot of acquaintances but i think her only real friend, the one who saw her for who she really was, was severus, and i think, at a certain point in their lives, she saw that as a weakness and resented it;
- i think, from the interactions we saw in canon of lily with other people, that lily had a penchant to please people, especially the ones who ranked higher than her in terms of power dynamics - petunia (who was the older sister), professors (sluggy comes to mind, the head of slytherin with a lot of connections), even the marauders whose actions she defended. it's not necessarily a bad thing, but i've always seen it as her being borderline manipulative. i noted that she wasn't the same with severus (based on their conversations, especially the ones in 5th year, before SWM) because he's lower than her in a lot of aspects, being a slytherin and quite likely of a lower social standing. she could boss him around and tell him to piss off and he probably wouldn't have minded. she actually strikes me as someone who could have been in slytherin; a perfect arrangement, save for the fact that she was a muggleborn. i think lily knew her place and the cards she was dealt with more than anyone, but she was also determined not to stay there;
- this brings me to the point as to why she ever went out with james potter in the first place. i think her friendship breakup with severus was inevitable because they were in the middle of a burgeoning war and both of them were being pulled to opposite and opposing ends. as an added complexity, i think she also wanted to be better than being muggleborn lily evans of cokeworth, best friend of the evil greasy slytherin git, and her way out was to associate with housemates who were in the upper echelons of power. like, we don't even know what her life was like in gryffindor tower. ron was poor, but he was also a pureblood, so that may have saved him from ridicule. but what if you were a poor muggleborn, with a northern accent to boot? in the same way severus trained himself to be more posh, lily could have done the same and could have furiously tried to blend in. maintaining a friendship with severus would have ended in heartbreak as there were too many risks and it likely outweighed the gains. this was the wizarding world too which is much much smaller than the muggle world and relied on connections more than anything. openly siding with the marauders would have saved her skin and secured her a future (which, as we all know, was forfeit anyway but whatever);
- jumping to the jily relationship, i honestly think it was also not one that was meant to last. iirc jkr projected a lot onto lily, so i'm surmising jily reflected a lot of her own failed relationships. i think james and lily had a less-than-ideal relationship, one that involved abuse (verbal, emotional, mental, physical, take your pick, but at least one form of it), and i think she may have been unhappy in the last year of her life, living in hiding with none of her own friends (if they even existed) and seeing no one else but james' pals. her only light in that darkness was likely harry as she couldn't even see her own family. i think, during those times, she thought a lot about the home she left behind and, as a consequence, her lost friendship with severus. she probably missed him, and i'm sure she must have been very lonely.
in sum, i don't think she was the Virgin Mary figure a lot of hp fans paint her to be. imho she had her own questionable but utterly human moments, and i just tried to fill in the blanks as to why she would have acted the way she did. i don't think it was easy to be lily evans at all, and majority of the 21 years of her life was likely a struggle.

When I was writing my university bachelor's degree thesis (that I'm still to defend) about Penny Dreadful as a modern adaptation of Frankenstein I noticed how the original novel's homoeroticism is realized by the series in an interesting way.
In the way he is presented, it seems to me that Victor secretly desires men, but thinks that only through creating a perfect one by himself he's allowed to touch other man's skin. His endeavour to pierce the veil between life and death is an excuse, since Victor from the series grew up lonely after the death of his mother and he searches for companionship, for someone who would love him unconditionally, like his mother used to. He believes he can find such love only in a person he creates himself, brings from the dead, and who would see him as his only friend, calm and obedient. Yet his first instinct is to make a man, not a woman, and a handsome man at that.
I can imagine both Rory Kinnear and Alex Price are not everybody's cup of tea (I do find them attractive, they are quite charismatic), but the way the original Creature and Proteus are shown makes them attractive. Proteus we see through Victor's eyes, when he is tending to his body before its even reanimated, when he sketches him (a sure sign of affection) and when he teaches him how to eat in a way that becomes seductive, because of how the camera lingers on his lips and then, in a closeup, on his fingers running down his long throat, immediately bringing to mind erotic imagery. Some may argue that Victor tries to emulate the relationship between his mother and himself taking the parental role and projecting onto Proteus the role of his childhood self, and as much as it is partially true, their relationship bears these marks of hidden desire on Victor's part from the start. The image at the end of the first episode when Proteus is born shows Victor trembling, teary-eyed, looking at the body, a torn and stitched back together, but human body, of a naked man. He's afraid, but not necessarily of the man, but of finally getting what he wanted, it's a fear resulting from excitement. Then the man is touching his face tenderly and Victor, still trembling, cannot stop himself from a little smile. Their faces are softly illuminated by the orange light of the gas lamp, creating an intimate atmosphere of a warm bedroom. Victor practically gasps hearing his own name smoken by Proteus. I doubt all of it was intentional in the way I read it, but it doesn't change the fact that the final scene can be easily interpreted this way.
Then the original Creature, with the violence surrounding his return, presents him as highly masculine, smart, powerful, a direct opposite to the delicate, clueless Proteus Victor could easily form into whatever he wanted. The Creature throughout the entire series is perceived as ugly by some and easily tolerated by others, making his ugliness purely subjective, since, despite his small deformities he remains strangely alluring with his gothic qualities (black long hair, black lips, white skin, yellow eyes, proportional features) of a dark brooding gentleman. With blood on his face he becomes vampire-like (vampires always a symbol of hidden desires and 'depraved' sexuality, the Creature and Victor becoming a mirror image of Vanessa and vampire Mina, both Creature's and Mina's monstrosity an indirect result of Victor's and Vanessa's desire towards having a same-sex companion). The Creature touches Victor's face, a callback to Proteus doing it, but the Creature is not gentle, he smears blood all over Victor's face (blood in vampire narratives was always a symbol for other bodily fluids, that's why it seems so sexy, it also gained another meaning in the 80s, due to the HIV epidemic, which no filmmaker can shake off if they tried, I could discuss it more with The Lost Boys, but no time for that right now).
The dynamic between Victor and the Creature is a reversal of Victor's budding relationship with Proteus, experience winning over innocence. Victor is under another man's rule, and it terrifies him, because it would force him into a position of having to admit his attraction, whereas as the one in control he could have still easily deny it. The Creature, with all his attributes, symbolizes carnal love, he's all 'body', where Proteus was virginal, pious love (to an extent). In one of the scenes where we see Proteus he looks up into the skylight at Victor's apartment and appears angelic, as if in a halo of white light.
It's revealed Victor never had a woman, and the series wants the viewer to believe it's because of his awkwardness and passion for science that consumed him, but his dedication to creating himself male companions instead of searching for a living female one is exactly what makes him seem more queer coded.
It's clear that the lack of paternal figure results in Victor quickly becoming close with older men he encounters (Sir Malcolm, Van Helsing), but it also puts him into a position where he's constantly surrounded by men, with whom he feels more at ease, and is intimidated by women. The rivalry between him and Ethan is that of siblings, until the moment when Ethan teaches him how to shoot a gun. It might be a stretch (it is a bit of a stretch, I admit), but a gun often, especially in horror, alongside a knife, represents manhood and masculine power. Victor allows Ethan to touch him and encourages him to show off with the gun, which is a scene all too familiar from many other movies where the role of Victor is reserved for a woman and the interaction is flirtatious (can't pull examples out of thin air, but if you saw over 1400 movies like me you know I'm not lying). All this adds to the general image of Victor.
The Creature and Victor, when they are on a walk, have a very revealing conversation in which the Creature points out how quick Victor was to grow attached to his more perfect man, and Victor doesn't deny it, he admits that he did in fact feel affection towards Proteus, although the meaning of it as the scorned past partner expressing jealousy over the love he didn't get while someone else did is largely subtext. When the Creature says that he's lonely, Victor answers 'I cannot love you' (paraphrase, because I can't find the exact quote right now) and the Creature, disillusioned, mocks him, 'I do not want what you cannot give' suggesting that Victor, by making himself a meek obedient man, is selfish, cruel, manipulating, and a coward, therefore could not have loved Proteus truly. Then again, Victor cannot bring himself to love his original Creature, because he's not the ideal man he envisioned and by then the Creature being too aware of his flaws of character. The Creature/Caliban/John Clare knows that Victor is 'monstrous', not just because he's someone who desecrates dead bodies, plays God and abandons his creation, but because of his queer desire. It's important that in the case of Penny Dreadful 'monstrosity' signifies many different things, literal (being a vampire werewolf, witch, and so on), metaphorical (bad deeds, like letting your son die a horrible death, cheating, killing etc.) and wholy subjective, merely condemned by ignorant society (Sembene's blackness, Brona's sex work, Lily's want to be equal or greater than men, Vanessa's want for sexual freedom, the Creature's ugliness, Angelique being transgender and other cases), so it's NOT that much of a stretch this time.
We also have the whole problem with Lily. Victor is so attached to Lily (who takes up both Elizabeth's and creature's bride parts in the novel) because he believes that only by possessing a good woman he'll be redeemed for his 'sinful' desires, but he's foolish to think that. This belief reduces a woman to a semi-maternal, semi-virginal angelic ideal with no sexual urges or agency, like virgin Mary. Lily is a true replacement for Victor's mother, and his imagined redemption. As long as she's similar to Proteus, in that she's not sexual, and pure like an angel. Yet Lily is not a woman in that sense. She is another of Victor's creatures, so she partially also takes over the role of the original Creature from the novel, a male. She's not an ideal of a Victorian obedient wife, she has power, or tries to have it, but power in the context of patriarchal society is masculine by nature. The moment she drops her pretenses of a weak delicate wife-like girl Victor does not want her like this. He doesn't want a woman that is sexually liberated, because he doesn't like women in this way, and yet, by being similar to the first Creature (from Victor's perspective, from hers John Clare is similar to Victor-a man, I could delve into Brona's sexuality, but later, this thing is already way longer than I intended) she's 'the man' he wanted.
There is also Henry. Henry Jekyll takes the role of his namesake in the novel, Henry Clerval, Victor's closest friend, and a character most often cited to have homoerotic tension with Victor. It's true that some of the eroticism might be accidental, stemming from the prevalence of homosocial interactions in 'Frankenstein' which in turn is a result of misogynistic nature of 19th century Genevian society and in-novel universe reflecting it, but like I mentioned before, it still feeds into the queer reading of the text and translates beautifully into Jekyll and Victor being both extremely misogynistic towards Lily and their mutual homoerotic tension. In the scenes where Henry purposes his plan to Victor he practically seductively purrs it into his ear, Lily becomes merely a female buffer that allows for that interaction, a female presence which is an excuse for male closeness (here I have a couple of examples actually: Dead Ringers, Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, Scream (in a roundabout way, through murder) and a couple others, but that deserves its own article). I won't even mention more references to the novel, because that's a lot already.
Penny Dreadful, although I believe largely unintentionally, expands on what is already there through the changes it introduces in relation to the novel's plot. I have nothing else smart to say, I just think it's worth considering.
*I use the word 'queer', because that's the umbrella term we use in academic writing for years now and even our lgbt+ group at university is called 'queer', so don't come at me with stupid takes

What I would've done for S2 & S3 of hsmtmts if I was the writer/director:
Nini
I would've probably changed Nini to not getting into YAC in the first season. She would've stayed the second semester at East High. She would spend the season working on her acting to get ready for an audition for YAC for senior year (so the audience could feel like she actually deserved it- instead of just bc she's the MC). -
She would have to reckon with the fact that her going off-script was probably why she wasn't accepted. -
I would've also given Nini more personality, maybe explore her interests outside of school, or her relationship with her moms. Make her have more flaws and have her learn to work through them. -
Nini lands the understudy for a main/secondary role and gets casted as the rose. She ends up helping backstage and works with Ashlyn as a songwriter/composer for the show. -
I'm thinking throughout the season she'll deal with a lot of school pressure, along with relationship problems, and her own stress of trying to make it into YAC and she'll eventually break down from the stress (Gina, Kourtney, and her parents would be there for her) -
her audition could've been in the last episode (making the "second chance" song more meaningful) -
I think Nini being low-key iced out by her friend group for going to YAC was messed up. That was her ambition. -
ALTERNATE IDEA: She could've also transferred to North High instead, making their menkies competition more relavent. Then tranferred back after a while and have to deal with going against her friends. [Idk just most of her personality in the two seasons, even after Ricky and Nini broke up, revolved around Ricky and she didn't get to have a life or personality beyond 1) the musical and 2) the boys in her life]
Ricky
Ricky's arc would be similar to the original. Him having Nini as his lifeline was pretty toxic for the both of them anyway. This time with him having some character development. Maybe having a scene where Nini says something like "I care about you Ricky, I really do. But I can't handle my own problems along with yours. I'm always here if you need to talk, but...maybe you should get some help first. You should talk to your parents." then after a bunch of stuff, Ricky learns to ask for help, and his parents send him to therapy. He apologizes to Nini. [Btw this arc wouldn't be to bash Ricky, but more of have him learn healthy ways of venting and finding help]
He finally talks and works things through with his mom and she and his dad finally realize the emotional toll their problems have caused Ricky
I was thinking about a flashback to Ricky seeing his parents fight all the time but that might be too dark for a Disney show
Ricky wasn't interested in musicals before, so therefore he should, realistically, have to learn to play the piano or guitar (Nini could've taught him)
if the writers wanted him to have acting/singing as his actual passion and not just as something he joined to get Nini back- then we should've had him practicing singing or acting (not for Nini this time) while also doing his old hobbies.
Nini and Ricky
I feel like they missed a really good opportunity to teach the audience how to open up and work through problems when they just decided to make Rini break up over miscommunication.
For a relationship that mentions them as childhood best friends, i wasn't feeling the best friends thing when they were together
If the writers were intending for us to root for Rini, then they should've made Ricky have more redeeming qualities, him doing stuff on Nini's phone was EJ-like which they established in S1 was bad
Consider this as some dialogue Nini and Ricky could've had about their relationship in the treehouse scene: Nini: "I don't even know how I got from loving you so much to not even wanting to fight for this" instead of just stating the obvious of "we've been miss-communicating all year" Ricky could've said something like: Ricky: "I wasn't honest with you. I tried to hide things from you. It feels like we're not even friends anymore." Nini: "We were friends...what happened?" Ricky: "I don't know, what's been going on with my parents has-" Nini: "No, this isn't their fault. It's ours." *a long pause* Nini: "Since we're admitting things we've done wrong. I've got one. I wasn't intending on sharing the rose song with you. I don't know i think i was just- scared it would cause more problems and i...hid a lot of the things i was feeling...about us." Ricky: "Can I ask...what are you feeling... about us? Like... was the song really all about us?"
you get the point- Rini would actually work through their problems instead of constantly having miscommunication problems that were unrealistic given that they were friends since kindergarten
Kourtney
Kourtney should've been given an arc and I would probably cut Howie (i like him but not every girl needs a love interest- if not then Howie shouldn’t have been the only depth she has).
Kourtney could have a fashion internship and we could explore her personality.
Make her more than the bff of Nini- have Nini be the one to reassure and be there for her
healthy feminism that's not just there for tokenism (and not whatever S1 Kourtney was)
Make people be there for her and don't just leave her alone because she's "strong" and "independent" People need help sometimes. Being independent is different to having no one there for you.
Gina
Jack appeared and disappeared- would've probably made him show up once more. And Gina and him wouldn't meet like that- maybe they knew each other from another school (bc normal ppl don't randomly talk to strangers at airports lol) -
I liked Gina's arc overall and would've kept it.
Introduced or at least hinted at Gina's brother more (him calling her but her refusing to answer because it's been so long)
Even if her main plot will revolve around love, Gina would have...well... a life.
Explore her relationship with her mom
explore how traveling all the time has affected her
things like not wanting to get attached bc even tho she has a place to stay, things can change at any moment and she knows that
showing her adapting to new situations really quickly
Her relationship with her brother could've been explored more
EJ
More on-screen character development
Building off the arrogant, confident character he was in the first season and still having some of those qualities as the second season progressed
Follow up for him and his dads conversation
Cousin duo with Ashlyn
EJ should've had a storyline outside of Gina being a symbol of his "development,"
He could have talked to Nini about how he was feeling about his future since they both were worried about the same
Gina and EJ
EJ's is a lot more tactful than Ricky and if the writers had wanted for us to root for them more- Ej could've represented what Ricky didn't do. Instead they had him misscomunicate about the big brother thing for shock and drama value and have Gina be the one to clear it up.
Have EJ try to be a good person, not for Gina, but for himself.
Consistent friendship with Gina before it was implied he had a crush
ALTERNATE PLOT IDEA: Instead of having them end up together, have them be more brother/sister and support system. Have EJ learn to be a good person without doing it for someone and rather do it for himself
All in all I would've kept the basic framework of their relationship and just change up a few things
Carlos and Seb
I loved Carlos' arc too (and Seb's).
Have Seb sing more
more screentime alltogether
Ashlyn
I liked them touching on body image issues with Ashlyn but i probably wouldn't have mentioned it once and then never mention it again. I think it should've lasted at least 2/3 episodes.
Ashlyn could've seen a plus size actress in a musical she goes to with Kourtney and Gina (bc that trio is amazing) and feeling a lot more confident but still a little insecure (cuz insecurities don't just disappear with a short monologue)
I'm very anti one-dimensional mean girl so, as part of Lily's redemption, lily would build up Ashlyn a little.
Maybe cut out Big Red/Ashlyn because i see them more as friends (they could still have similar scenes together tho)
have ashlyn and big red break up by spring break- ashlyn won't tell anyone and keep her personal life out of her acting and end up spiraling
completely cut out any french guy jealousy from Big Red (completely unneeded)
Lily
I would've had Lily be more of the 3 dimensional character- i think we should be over the mean girl trope. I'm thinking parental issues/pressures (building off episode 11) and some insecurity or anxiety would be pretty realistic. Maybe she’s sick of constantly being the center of attention and wants some downtime.
If they intend to make Ricky and Lily end up together (or at least have a friendship), I would do it a little differently. In the Ricky section of this post i mentioned Ricky, if acting/singing had become his passion, should've taken up some lessons. What if Lily had ended up being his tutor or something? Maybe he signed up before all the drama and got to know her before.
just think of all the possibilities tho- it would also make the “let you go” song that Ricky does on the piano have some double meaning
Lily stealing the harness makes absolutely no sense plot-wise, so I would also cut that out
Side characters
French dude should've gotten more screentime
Mazzara/Jenn should've been equal pining like in S1- not just mainly one sided
Plot
more episodes, most of the problems and conflicts presented weren't resolved or addressed by the end of the series. Characters, especially the ones in relationships, don't even talk about their problems. And yes, realistically, sometimes people don't talk it out, but most get closure within themselves and problems don't appear and disappear magically. -
maybe change the menkies competition for another competition, something where you can have more creative liberty with the plot and songs -
cut out the dance/sing off, it was completely unneeded
cut out the "come back video" to North High's diss video
cut out the sleepover episode
All these episodes did was provide unneeded drama that could've been used to instead to take a break from the conflict and be more character driven -
Maybe a different musical- BATB was a weird choice for an official competition. If not then different casting
Ej for beast, Ricky for Gaston, seb for candleholder, carlos for clock,
The scenes from the musical should've been included, I felt like there was an episode missing between ep.11 and 12
Every relationship was the exact same- the guy pining to the loosely interested girl and then when they get together the girl having to constantly reassure him about the relationship
Ok, guess they wasted that entire semester just to never open the envelope (they should've opened it because they realized that the Menkies tore them apart and they lost sight of their passion)
a lot of the events, character development, and reactions were off-screen, which made it so annoying to watch bc a lot of those scenes were important to the plot
Disclaimer: Not hating on the writers, directors, or actors of this show. I'm just inputting my own ideas of what I think would've made the show better for me. I kept and cut out some ships i did/didn't like so my personal opinion on the relationships do have an influence

Hello! How would compare and contrast Snarry vs Drarry? Since you have (beautifully!) written both, I’d love to hear your thoughts on the dynamics of these two ships. Thank you!
Hello Anon, thank you for this lovely message and what a topic!
I have set out below the cut why I think the dynamics differ but also some of the similarities and it got very, very long. Yikes.
DRACO
Draco is privileged, from a wealthy, pureblood, old wizarding family and immersed in magic from childhood. He's the kind of popular where he has his crew and doesn't really care if the Gryffindors don't like him, he is athletic and bright and he is described in a way that suggests he is attractive. Up until the point things really start to go wrong for Draco, he leads a relatively charmed life. He is a product of his upbringing, of his upper class status, he experiences a childhood where he is spoiled, loved and doted on, albeit he appears to be subject to high expectations of academic excellence and sporting prowess. With his friends he appears to be something of the ringleader and generally liked. He gravitates towards Voldemort because it's really all he's known, he's born into it. At first it seems Draco's views are driven by his desire to protect the things he values (wealth, status, power) and the privilege he has become accustomed to and, in the end, he sticks around primarily out of fear and self preservation. Draco exhibits moments of cowardice.
SEVERUS
Severus has an entirely different upbringing. He is working class, has a tense relationship with his parents, he is disliked and bullied at school which leaves him isolated, he gravitates towards solitary intellectual pursuits and he is described in a way that suggests he is supposed to be unattractive (although this reader would argue he has a certain magnetic charge). Lily aside, his relationships as a child seem to be shaped by a fascination with the power that comes with wealth and elitism, something he has never experienced. Sirius describes him as Lucius Malfoy's 'lap dog' and it is telling that Lucius is much older, a Prefect when Severus starts Hogwarts. He is radicalised in a way and gravitates towards Voldemort through a greedy hunger for power, a desire for revenge and a desperate desire to change his lot in life. He stays because, well, we all know why he stays. Severus is brave but grudgingly, acerbically so. The deepest insult he confronts is being called a coward by Harry.
FIRST ENCOUNTERS
Aside from the differences in their characters, the way Harry encounters Severus and Draco is completely different. When we meet Severus in canon, he is bitter, angry, jealous, grieving and indebted to Dumbledore. He is also in a position of power as Harry's professor. When we meet Draco, he is Harry's peer but he is also full of himself, an arrogant little shit who thinks the world is his for the taking and he thinks very little of Dumbledore, because father says...
This shapes Harry's encounters with them both. Severus approaches Harry with animosity, venom and a legacy of hurt that Harry doesn't yet understand. Severus places no weight on Harry's celebrity, he actively resents and despises it. Draco, by contrast, values Harry's celebrity initially. He wants to be friends with the wizarding world's brightest star and the animosity that follows between them flows directly from the sting of Harry's initial rejection.
ONGOING RELATIONSHIP
Severus wilfully misunderstands Harry. He draws connections between Harry and James based solely on their striking physical similarities and (incorrectly) ascribes the characteristics of James to Harry. He is tasked with protecting Harry but he does so always through gritted teeth. The curse of Severus Snape is to spend his life protecting someone who represents everything he despised as a child and yet the only person who can give a dying man that last connection to his one true friend.
Draco sees Harry more clearly but his perspective is shaped by jealousy and the sting of that first encounter, which leads him to make fun of Harry's circumstances and the people he associates himself with. He doesn't misunderstand Harry in the way Severus does, but he also doesn't know him fully.
MAGICAL CONNECTIONS
The magic that connects Harry, Draco and Severus is fascinating. Harry famously uses Sectumsempra on Draco without knowing what impact it will have. He then intentionally uses the same spell on Severus (unsuccessfully) knowing exactly the damage it will do. Not only does the use of the spell in both instances show us a darker side to Harry, but the spell was also created by Severus and he is the one that helps Draco after the spell has been cast. I could write an essay on the links this spell creates between those three characters.
Expelliarmus is another one. Severus teaches Harry this spell and in doing so, equips him with his most powerful tool in the fight against Voldemort. Harry disarms Draco of his wand and the implications of that in terms of the final battle are intrinsically connected to the 'signature move' of Harry's in battle, which is all about gaining possession of the wand of the attacker as opposed to trying to target the attacker themselves.
Avada Kedavra is also something that binds the three of them. Harry witnesses Draco failing to cast the Killing Curse, and simultaneously witnesses Severus easily casting it. This also is part of the broader relationship Harry, Draco and Severus have to Dumbledore. Harry and Severus are willing pawns in the master plan but neither are fully equipped with all the information they need. Draco ends up unwittingly being part of the plan but he is never a soldier of Dumbledore's Army in the way Harry explicitly is and Severus, with a gnashing of his teeth, also is.
Finally, one of the important similarities between Severus and Draco is they are both skilled Occlumens, something Harry is notoriously rubbish at. This skill suggests both are better able to bury and compartmentalise their emotions whereas Harry is unable to do so with any success and this plays into the fact that in both ships, Harry is likely to be the more demonstrative, wearing his heart on his sleeve in a way both Draco and Severus can better disguise/suppress.
DIFFERENT DYNAMICS
With all of the above the dynamics between Drarry and Snarry will always have a different slant, even if Harry himself is essentially the same. By way of sweeping overstatement, Snarry tends to skew darker and heavier because there is much more to overcome, but by contrast Severus has also spent his 'canon' years protecting Harry which creates this bitter 'Guardian Angel' type dynamic that, if you ship it, can be intensely romantic when they encounter one another again as adults.
The age difference lends itself to different dynamics too. Harry and Draco have that potential for young, dumb and in love, working things out, exploring, eighth year and spin the bottle sort of stuff that Snarry doesn't really have in the same way. It feels more natural that Harry and Draco would encounter one another as peers from the same year group, so part of the battle with Snarry is working out how Harry and Severus end up in the same spaces together in adulthood (Snape's canon death being a pesky inconvenience). The age difference raises another important difference in dynamic too, when it comes to the experience of Severus and Draco as gay or bisexual men, if you apply Muggle attitudes to same-sex relationships that have shifted over time.
The age difference is also relevant because there is a capacity for Draco to change his ways as he grows up, but Severus has already long changed his political beliefs and we know Severus as an adult in canon. That's not to say adults can't change their beliefs of course, but because his adult character exhibits moments of real cruelty you have a challenge around how this irascible, often mean, sharp-tongued character can give Harry what he yearns for when it comes to affection, love, family, security and so on.
There are hurdles to overcome with both ships and although the core 'enemies to lovers' starting point may create a similar overarching dynamic, the roots of those hurdles, the scale of them and the ways and ease with which they get resolved will differ because ultimately Draco and Severus are very different characters with quite polarised life experiences. They have some similarities, Occlumency aside, such as fostering beliefs during childhood they reject around the same time in their lives, albeit for very different reasons. Both are Slytherins who, their magical skills would suggest, are capable of pushing their emotions down in a way Harry can't, when everything for him is raw, on the surface, now, even though they both also unleash their emotions at various points. They are both prone to dramatics, to anger, to pettiness, to humour and in many respects, Harry is prone to those things too. In general though, I believe Draco and Severus would approach a relationship with Harry quite differently.
I don't think there's any one easy way to pinpoint the different dynamics in general because there is a huge variety of ways these three can be presented in fanfic, with its own plot, worldbuilding, external factors and so on. There are so many different directions you could go in with Snarry and Drarry so I'm only speaking from some of the things that strike me not only about the Severus/Harry and Draco/Harry connections/potential hurdles but also about the links between the three of them. Ultimately I think there is opportunity for deep connection, discovery, levity, passion and of course, delicious angst and UST with both ships, but they tend to manifest a little differently for all the reasons outlines about.
There's so much more I can say, but I'll leave it there. Thank you, Anon!

August (J.P.)
Hello everyone! This fic was inspired by the Tylor Swift song August. It’s a beautiful song and you should totally listen to it if you haven’t already. This isn’t like a normal song fic because I didn’t include any lyrics in the writing but It is heavily inspired by the song. I’m also super super proud of this so I hope that you all like it!
Pairing: James Potter x Reader
Summary: (Y/n) falls for her neighbor, James, and has a whirlwind summer romance with him.
Word Count: 1.7k
Warnings: Angst, a PG-13 make out session, and mentions of sex, alcohol consumption
Tumblr media
The crisp air of the lake breeze blew back your hair as you sat on the dock. It was your summer holiday and you had a month before you were forced back into the confines of school. You were reveling in the summer weather while you could, your head bent back to soak up the sun, your feet dangling into the water. The lake was seemingly your home over the summer. It was a short walk from your house and you found yourself there every day that you could escape your family. Whether you were simply reading under a tree or wading in its waters, the lake offered you solace and a hideaway.
You turned and looked behind you, catching a glimpse of the Potter’s house. It was nestled behind a few trees, sitting atop a hill that overlooked the lake. You wondered if James was there. You had known James since the early days of your youth. Sharing shy smiles at neighborhood parties. You had never gotten to know him very well as he went off to some mysterious boarding school each year. But this summer something had shifted.
On one of your earliest days sneaking off to the lake, you had run into him. His mop of messy black hair was damp and beads of water rolled off his bare shoulders letting you know he had just exited the water. He had waved politely at you and you blushed under his gaze. He was an incredibly attractive boy, and you weren’t used to incredibly attractive boys paying any attention to you. You sat down on the dock, dipping your bare feet into the deep blue water. After a few moments, you felt a presence beside you and you turned to see James. He sat down next to you and sent you a quick smile. You began to talk, something the two of you had never really done before. You learned as much as you could about him, though he gave vague details of his school life. You soaked up every bit of him that you could, basking in the attention he gave you. He flirted slightly- placing a hand on your thigh or making comments that made you flush.
As the day turned into evening you quickly became enamored with him. His dark eyes roaming over your body and his quick-witted humor made it hard not to. By the time the stars began to bleed into the sky, he had cupped your cheek and captured your lips with his own.
As the days wore on, the more you saw of James. You would spend lazy days by the lake, talking and laughing and him pressing languid kisses to your lips. It was perfect. His company was all you needed. He made you feel wanted.
One summer night you and James stumbled into a bedroom at a party, placing drunken kisses on any exposed piece of skin that you could find. The night had been filled with drinking and dancing close to him, soaking up every bit of him that you could.
He pressed you against the wall, leaving a trail of kisses down your neck. You swiftly removed his shirt, giggling when you couldn’t get it over his head. You moved to the bed, letting him lay on top of you. For a moment James sobered up slightly.
“Are you sure about this?” he asked in a whisper, his breath hot on your neck. You nodded, moving to press a kiss to his shoulder.
“I’ve never done this before,” you said softly and nervously. James kissed you sweetly on the forehead.
“That’s all right,” he whispered back. You smiled before pulling him back towards you.
The next morning you wake up before him. Your legs were tangled in the sheets as you admired James’s sleeping form. His eyelashes graced his cheek and his breathing was deep and even. He had an arm lazily draped around your waist, his hand hot against your bare skin. Your head pounded slightly from your hangover but you could barely pay attention to the pain when you were with him.
You lay on a towel next to the lake, watching as James waded in the water. His bare skin gleamed from the sun and you couldn’t help but admire his physique. You got up and slowly made your way over to him and pressed a kiss to the back of his shoulder, causing him to turn around and smile at you.
Your afternoon had been filled with him telling stories of his friends from school. He told you about his best friends that he considered brothers and you laughed as he told you censored versions of their jokes. But a name kept popping up in the conversation that made your insides churn.
Lily Evans.
She appeared in almost all of his stories. She seemed to always be around him. You had asked James what she was to him but he just waved you off and told you that she was just a friend. The jealousy that bled into your bones quickly dissipated though when he leaned down to kiss you, assuring you that you were his.
You wondered to yourself if he would call you or write to you when he got back to school, telling you about the new adventures that he had been on. You hoped that he would.
You sat on his rooftop with a bottle of wine on your lips. It was well past midnight and your back was pressed against him as you stared up at the stars. He absentmindedly played with your hair as you gazed at the sky. You passed him the bottle, watching him take a sip. He seemed to be lost in thought and distracted.
“You okay?” you asked as he handed you back the bottle. He sent you a tightlipped smile.
“Just thinking about some things from school,” he said quietly, playing with the hem of his shirt. “I left some things there unresolved,” he continued. Your stomach dropped and one name crossed your mind. You wondered if he was speaking of Lily. The way he spoke about her made your stomach churn each time. Every time her name passed his lips his eyes lit up and you swore that his cheeks flushed.
“Do you want to talk about it?” you asked, putting your hand on his knee. He just smiled at you and shook his head before leaning in.
The summer changed you. You were a shy and quiet girl who never took risks but James slowly forced you out of your shell. He’d bring you on small escapades and adventures, watching you blossom into someone who loved living.
You saw him change as well. The more time with you that he spent, he seemed to become less brash and impulsive. He began to think over his words before he spoke and was a gentler person.
You never put a label on the relationship. You never felt the need to. You wanted him badly and you thought he felt the same. Every moment spent together only made your feelings for him grow. The late nights under the stars and the sweeping kisses were enough for you. And you thought that they were enough for him too.
Every moment spent together gave you hope that it could really become something. You were quickly falling for him, imagining a life beyond August together. You wanted nothing more than him.
Towards the end of the summer, you saw your friends less and less, opting to spend your time with James. Waiting for him to knock at your door or throw pebbles at your window in the dead of night. You knew you were in deep when you canceled plans with your best friend to wait by the lake to see if he would show up. He never did.
As your summer began to disappear, so did James. He rarely sought you out, and when he did, he was distant and almost cold. You felt like you were losing him.
The night before he left you sat in your room alone, replaying your memories with him. Analyzing every kiss and every moment. You had searched for him that day. But when you had knocked on his door his mother told you that he was out.
You had stolen a bottle of whiskey from your parent’s liquor cabinet and you were slowly sipping from it, hoping to dull the numb ache of heartbreak. He hadn’t even said goodbye.
Around midnight you heard a knock on your window. You turned quickly to see James’s face. Despite the hurt he had caused you, you quickly ran to the window to let him in. As soon as he stepped close to you, you could smell the alcohol on his breath. He seemed to be just as drunk as you were. He quickly pressed a messy kiss to your lips. You spent not time reciprocating. He kissed you for what seemed like hours. He kissed you until you were breathless. Suddenly, he moaned into the kiss, a name spilling from his lips that wasn’t yours.
“Lily,” he murmured against your lips. You pulled back quickly.
“What?” you questioned, your voice thick with emotion. James just looked at you confusedly, clearly not having realized his error.
“What did you call me?” you asked, hoping to conceal the tears that were threatening to spill. James furrowed his eyebrows, not understanding.
“(Y/n)?” he asked slowly. You rolled your eyes at him and pushed him off you.
“I think you should go,” you said quietly. James reached for your cheek but you swiftly swatted his hand away.
“(Y/n) I don’t understand,” he said softly. You just ignored him. After a few moments of silence, he got up and left, not even looking back at you as he exited through your window, not even uttering a farewell. When he was gone you finally allowed yourself to cry.
James had left the next morning. For a few weeks, you held out hope that he would write to you, that he’d apologize and assure you that you were his and he was yours. But no such letter came.
You had lost him. But then you thought back to that night in your room and the name he had whispered against your lips. He was never yours to lose.

It Was Always You
Pairing: James Potter x reader
Summary: James has always been in love with the reader, and decides that the incessant flirting with Lily Evans isn’t working, so he steps his jealousy game up a notch.
A/N: I’ve been gone for too long (sorry!!) but I loved writing this!! I need to work on the rest of the requests I have (sorry it’s taken so long, if anyone cares enough about excuses I have a whole wheelbarrow full). This is part of @wreckofawriter ‘s writing challenge! My trope was fake dating, but of course I couldn’t do it so cliched and had to have a little twist.
Wordcount: 2.9K
“I think this is the year.” James Potter grinned, walking into the Entrance Hall with all the other Hogwarts students. Next to him, Remus rolled his eyes, Sirius shook his head in disbelief and Peter smiled sympathetically. “It’s going to work this year, I just know it.”
“Prongs.” Sirius started, moving through the throngs of students all trying to get to the Great Hall for the welcome feast, arguably the best feast of the year. “You’ve also said that for the last five years, and nothing has happened.”
“No, this year is different. Clearly, flirting with Evans isn’t getting me anywhere with y/n, I just need a new plan. I don’t know if I can pretend to be in love with Lily for much longer.”
They walked into the Great Hall and over to the Gryffindor table, where a y/h/c girl was sat waiting for them, a bright smile on her face. “I saved you all seats.” She gestured to the four empty seats around her as all the boys sat down, James taking his seat next to her as he gave a pointed look to Sirius, as if saying I told you so. “Did you have a good summer? I’m sorry I couldn’t come and visit James, my parents would barely even let me in the garden because of the war.” She chewed on her lip guiltily, her eyes wide and looking at him, making him feel like he was melting into a puddle next to her.
Stuttering, he waved off her concerns quickly, returning her bright smile and trying to stop the blush from rising to his cheeks as he turned to the plates which were now full in front of him, helping himself to large portions of food. The rest of the meal continued, the five friends laughing loudly as if their two months of separation had never happened, sharing stories and inside jokes. Once they had finished eating, they made their way lazily back up to the common room, all slightly sluggish from the long journey and their newly full stomachs.
“I think I’m about to enter a food coma.” y/n laughed, rubbing her hand on her belly as if pregnant, causing a laugh from the boys. “I’m gonna head off to bed, I’ll see you tomorrow morning.” She waved goodbye, walking up the stairs to the girls dorm as the boys all sat on the sofa and chairs around the warm fire. Catching a glimpse of long red hair, James paused before he sat, uttering a quick excuse to his friends before he turned and walked across the room to where she was sat.
“I need a favour.” He said, catching her attention as she turned to look at him sympathetically and simultaneously irritably.
“You mean, me letting you flirt with me and follow me around for years in the hopes that you would get y/n’s attention isn’t enough?” She asked sarcastically, earning a guilty shrug from him as he sat in the seat next to her.
“It is, Lils, you’ve been actually the best to put up with me. I just, I need to do something a little more extreme, to see once and for all if she likes me.”
“James, you know I don’t like doing this to her, she’s my friend too and I don’t like playing with her feelings.”
“I promise this is it.” He felt his heart sink as he made the promise, to Lily and to himself, hoping that he would never have to face the consequences he was laying out. “Please, Lily, just pretend to date me for a few weeks, a month tops, and if nothing changes then I’ll accept that it’s over, and I’ll drop it.” He looked at her pleadingly, and after a deafening silence she finally nodded. He puffed out a breath of hot air, relief and hope washing over him, as he jumped up and pulled Lily into a hug, squeezing her tightly. “Thank you. For everything. You’re the best.”
“Don’t make me regret it!” She called after him as he walked back to the other Marauders, already lost in his own world of what could happen by the end of this month.
Y/n was walking with Remus from ancient runes to defence against the dark arts, discussing plans for the first Hogsmead trip of the year, the first time they could (officially) leave the castle since arriving on September first. She stopped in her tracks at the sight of James next to Lily. It wasn’t uncommon, he had been following after her for years, giving y/n much ammo to tease him with, but what stopped her in her tracks was that instead of Lily’s usual hard exterior, deflecting his compliments and his cheesy lines, she was laughing back at him, with this stupid, stupid grin, and was twirling her hair around her finger.
Remus stopped next to her, confused for a second until he looked up and saw what she had noticed. “Ah.”
“James and Lily? They’re… together?” She asked, her voice a little smaller than usual, slightly more shielded.
“They saw each other a lot over the summer, and I… guess she finally saw enough of him to give him a chance.” Remus explained uncomfortably. He, too (like everyone but James), had been against the idea, not wanting to play with feelings, warning that it was more trouble than was necessary. But, stubborn as he was, he wouldn’t give it up, and so here Remus was, lying to one of his best friends, for one of his other best friends.
Her face fell for a second, shadows flickering across too quickly for Remus to pick out exactly what they were. Jealousy? Hurt? Before he had time to decipher what he was seeing, she shrugged lightly, her shoulders lifting in a graceful movement. “Well, good, I’m glad she’s seen the real him. He deserves to be happy, he’s waited long enough for her.”
She couldn’t help the true, genuine smile that rose on her face at seeing the boy she loved so happy, his head thrown back as he laughed, his messy hair falling into his eyes as he brought his head up again, even as she felt the blade slice through her heart as she watched his hand reach for hers, a simple gesture tearing her apart so easily.
Remus seemed to accept her statement, and they finished their journey to class together, where y/n struggled to concentrate. James Potter finally had Lily Evans, so where did that leave her? She supposed, as she doodled little flowers on the edges of her parchment, that it was time to listen to her aching heart and try to move on.
It was hard for y/n to adjust to life with James having a girlfriend. As hard as it was for her to see, and it never did seem to hurt less, she cared so much for both James and Lily that she wanted them to be happy with each other. She had stepped back slightly from James’ life, not wanting their closeness to become an issue in his relationship, meaning that she constantly had to remind herself that the seat next to him was no longer for her, she couldn’t borrow his jumpers anymore (she had taken to stealing Remus’ in their absence, much to his own amusement), and she couldn’t hide in a dark corner of the castle with him whenever she needed a break from the rest of the world, and a comfort only someone who had known her as long as he had could provide.
She had forgotten, for a brief moment, after the Quidditch game earlier that day. Gryffindor had pulled through spectacularly in the first game of the school year, in large part due to James’ skills, and she had run onto the pitch to congratulate him like always, only to stop when she saw Lily get there first. She had waited until Sirius was next to her to go and congratulate James, trying not to notice how the exercise always sharpened his hazel eyes and how the wind always left his hair tangled.
It was exactly that, which had lead to the situation she was in now. She was sat in the common room, her fourth firewhisky in her hand, trying to let herself forget James for just one night. He looked distractingly beautiful in a simple t-shirt and jeans, and he was in the centre of the party, Lily hooked firmly to his side. He had caught her eye when y/n had walked down from her dorm, and smiled and waved, which had promptly caused her to hide in a corner nursing a bottle, hoping she could be left alone.
“Well aren’t you a depressing scene.” She looked up at the voice to see Sirius, who seemed flushed from alcohol too, smiling down at her as he leaned over the arm of the chair she was sunk in.
“Sirius, you get with a lot of girls, right?” She asked, a sudden inspiration and courage coursing through her from the liquid courage in her veins. He nodded, not drunk enough to not be wary about where she was going as he indicated to continue. “Well, do you ever get attached? Like, is it easy to just let go and move on? Do you even need to move on?” She could feel herself rambling, but couldn’t stop, and found she needed an answer from him more than she had known.
“No, most of the time it’s only a one-time thing, and I know that going in, so I dont get attached. It’s different when you’ve been in love with someone for years.” He looked at her knowingly, and she glared back defensively.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” She huffed, averting her eyes and scanning the crowds of the party, people dancing and having a good time. “I’m not in love with James.”
“Who mentioned James?” Sirius grinned as she groaned, realising that he had caught her.
“It’s nothing. I’m getting over it. Trying, anyway.” She sighed, finishing the rest of her bottle and casting it aside. Feeling hurt and desperate to stop the feeling, she looked at Sirius. “And I think I know where to start.”
She surged forward, pressing her lips to his, trying to ignore the rest of the party and focus on the feeling of his lips against hers. His lips, which weren’t moving. His hands, which had moved to her shoulders and which were gently pushing her away. He was sat next to her, and as she looked at him guilt flooded through her at what she had done.
“I’m so sorry. I shouldn’t have kissed you without asking.” Her hand flew to her mouth as she felt the shock begin to sober her up.
“No, y/n, it’s okay. It’s just, this won’t change your feelings, it’ll only make you feel worse.” She nodded, accepting his words and feeling even more despair at how far she had fallen for the boy. Sirius noticed and pulled her closer, tucking her under his arm as she took his half-empty bottle from his hands and drinking from it, managing to laugh at a joke he told her.
They both turned as they heard glass shatter behind them, and saw James standing there, hand still clenched as if he was holding a bottle in his hand, although it had clearly shattered in his grip. Sirius jumped away from y/n, holding his hands up and turning to face James.
“It’s not what you think.” He started, speaking low and trying not to gain the attention of the other Gryffindors, most of whom had assumed someone had just drunkenly dropped a bottle.
“I think you were flirting with y/n!” he shouted back, his words barely slurred, clearly more sober than the two of them. She had begun to stand up, although she wasn’t sure what her input in this conversation would be. After all, even though she hadn’t been flirting with Sirius, that was her choice to make.
“She was telling me how she’s trying to get over you!” He shouted back, clearly exasperated at the situation, laughing humourlessly.
“You – she – she’s what?” James sputtered, his eyes widening as he processed his best friend’s words. “You what?” He asked, turning to face y/n, who was equally shocked that Sirius would treat her feelings so carelessly.
“Nope.” She muttered, not ready to have this conversation, not when she was drunk, not in the common room, maybe not ever. Before anyone could stop her she was through the portrait hole and running through the corridors, not caring if she was caught, slightly hoping she would be so that at least no one could find her.
She slowed down, ducking behind a tapestry into a hidden corridor, welcoming the peace and quiet of the castle at night. She led on the floor, grateful for the stone cooling down her hot skin, closing her eyes and trying to pretend the whole night had never happened.
A few pairs of footsteps walked past her hiding spot, and each time she would tense up, not relaxing until they had passed her again and she was left in silence. She jumped, then, when a voice came out of the dark from the long corridor behind her.
“I know you can sleep anywhere, but I never thought you would try the actual floor of the castle.” After the small shriek that had left her lips at his unexpected appearance, she opened her eyes to see him standing over her, smiling nervously, one hand in his pocket and the other extended to pull her into a sitting position.
“Merlin, James. How did you find me?” She asked, and he gave her a pointed look once he had settled next to her, both of their backs against the wall of the corridor. “I’m going to burn that map one day.”
“No you won’t, you’re too impressed at how well the magic works.” He grinned at her, widening slightly when she couldn’t argue with his point. “So, I spoke to Sirius.” He offered, and y/n curled into herself as he brought up the one thing she was hoping he wouldn’t, but knew that he was going to.
“I’m sorry. I just thought, you and Lily seem to be happy, you know, and I want to be happy for you, so I’m trying to move on. But, I understand if you don’t want to be friends anymore, if it makes you too uncomfortable to be around me.”
“We’re not.” He blurted out, and y/n looked at him in confusion. “Lily and I, we’re not together.”
She gasped into the silence, too consumed by her own thoughts to notice that he didn’t look at all bothered by this fact. “Oh James, are you okay? I know how long you’ve liked her, I’m so sorry it didn’t work out the way you wanted.” Despite everything, she reached for his hand, giving it a short squeeze in comfort. As she went to let go, he held on tighter, and she looked at him in confusion.
“I never actually liked her.” He confessed, blushing slightly as she only became more confused. “I actually, um, like, love, you. It was always you. But I was scared, and I thought that if I paid attention to Lily, I might be able to see if you liked me too. But I could never tell, so we pretended to date, but you seemed to support that too, which was confusing. But Sirius told me what you said, he said that you love me. And, I knew I had to come and find you.”
Her head was spinning as she tried to wrap her head around what he was telling her, her hand holding his even tighter than before. She looked at him, the hopeful look in his eyes, the way his cheeks were flushed from a mixture of the alcohol and their situation. He leaned in closer, looking into her eyes. “Can I kiss you?” Unable to speak, she nodded, and for the second time that night her lips connected with another.
Whereas the first kiss made her feel nothing, this was the polar opposite. As the realisation of what was happening caught up to her, she felt the elation soar through her, making her light-headed with giddiness. Her hands wound their way behind his neck and into his hair, as his circled around her waist and pulled her closer into him. She gasped as his teeth caught on her lip, and he kissed her harder, more forcefully than she had expected, pushing her backwards. James reacted quick enough to put his arm out and break her fall, making sure her back didn’t hit the hard floor too roughly. She looked up at him leaning over her, pupils blown, lips swollen, looking wild, and she swallowed.
“Should we head back to the party?” she asked, her voice quiet.
“No way. I only just got you, I don’t think I’m ready to share you just yet.”
“Oh thank god.” She replied, pulling him back down to her by the shirt to her, not willing to waste one more second without James Potter by her side.

Chapter One
You smiled in slight surprise as you walked into the bright kitchen and you saw your brother, Finn out of bed. He was actually smiling as he poured himself a glass of homemade pumpkin juice, his thick curls bouncing as he moved.
“Good to see that you’re out of bed, kid,” you grinned, ruffling his hair
Finn pouted at you before smiling himself, “I didn’t think that it was such a good idea isolating myself in bed, there’s nothing that I can do about my … problem,” the way he spoke made him sound much older than his eleven years, “and Dumbledore sent an owl to mum, telling her that I’m still allowed to come to Hogwarts.”
You smiled at him proudly as you too poured yourself a glass of iced pumpkin juice, you couldn’t wait to be sitting in the sunshine outside The Leaky Cauldron with your friends, “well, you’re braver than me and of course, Dumbledore would never turn anybody away. You belong at Hogwarts.”
You were pretty surprised that your mum had confided in Dumbledore about your brother’s affliction. She had kept it a well-guarded secret from the rest of the village; she was worried that it would affect her and your dad’s job at the Ministry. They were highly respected Aurors. They were nowhere to be seen at the present moment so you fixed your brother some lunch – a cheese and tomato sandwich with the crusts cut off and you cut the sandwich into triangles, it was the only way that Finn would eat it.
As Finn ate it, he looked at you, “are you going to be on the Quidditch team this year, Y/N?” he asked and you scoffed, sipping your pumpkin juice.
“I don’t think so, I’d love to but my stage fright would never let me, you know that,” you smiled at him cheerfully; you couldn’t feel too down on such a beautiful summer’s day.
Finn pouted at you, his eyes going round, “oh, I thought it would be pretty cool, going to my first Quidditch match and my sister being on the team.”
You grinned at him, he was your biggest supporter and you appreciated that more than anything else. You were saved by replying, for your parents walked out of the living room with a beautiful woman. She was beautiful but she had hard, sharp features, it was her grey eyes that marked her, though they had none of her son’s warmth.
“Ah, Y/N L/N, you definitely grew up in beauty and grace,” she smirked at you; there was no playful glint to it. It was quite menacing to be honest.
“Mrs Black, it’s good to see you,” you lied through gritted teeth; you would never forgive her, not after what she did to Sirius.
It seemed that Mrs Black picked out your lie because her smirk widened, “so, it’s you is it? You were the one who used to pine over my eldest son.”
“A lot has happened since then,” you bit back in a defensive tone, and it was true, a lot had happened since fourth year, that was three long years ago, “I’m going to meet the gang, so I’ll see you later, you little monkey,” you kissed the top of Finn’s head and you bade goodbye to your parents, ignoring Mrs Black.
You walked over to the white marble fireplace and flung your Floo Powder down carelessly, “Diagon Alley!” you shouted clearly and you disappeared in a whirl of green flames.
When you had reached Diagon Alley, you brushed the soot from your summer dress as you carried on towards The Leaky Cauldron. You grinned, shooting a wave at James and Lily who were sitting out in the warm sunshine. Lily’s hair shone like blazing fire in the sun. They had started dating at the end of the previous school year and they were the best couple that you knew.
You walked inside the cool pub – it was alive with many people and there were even creatures such as hags, you also saw some of your Hogwarts schoolmates – and you spotted the tousled hair boy at the bar. You smiled and made your way over to him.
“Hey cutie,” you grinned, standing on your tiptoes to kiss his cheek. Remus flushed a bright red colour across his scarred cheeks, you loved flirting with Remus but the both of you knew that you would only ever be good friends.
“Hey Y/N,” he grinned as he pulled you into a side hug, “how is your brother doing?”
You smiled, it was so sweet of him to ask, “he’s doing great thank you, and he’s taking it all in his stride. Much braver than I could ever be.”
Remus nodded, “he seems braver than all of us but it’s good that he’s doing well. If I can be of any help, you just let me know.”
You beamed, jumping slightly as you felt two strong arms wrap around you from behind, “looking as pretty as ever, Y/N,” Sirius said in your ear.
You giggled and turned around to give him a proper hug, it was so weird to see him not wearing his usual leather jacket, “you’re still a flirt I see,” you had once hated his flirtatious behaviour but you had recently realised that it was no use. He was never going to change.
Sirius smirked at you before his warm grey eyes looked at something in the distance, and he whistled beneath his breath, “I’ll catch up with you guys, yeah?” he flounced off without waiting for a reply. You and Remus rolled your eyes and shook your heads fondly before taking the iced Butterbeers outside. Iced Butterbeers sounded like a weird concept but it was surprisingly delicious!
“Hey lovers,” you grinned at James and Lily as you pulled out a chair and sat down, “where’s Wormtail?” you asked.
“He’s still on holiday, I think,” James started, sipping his Butterbeer, gaining a foamy moustache in the process, “he’s been pretty secretive lately, but I suppose it’s only to be expected now that we’re getting older,” he sighed, “where’s Sirius?”
Remus snickered around his glass, “annoying some girl, knowing him.”
Moments later, Sirius came wandering over to the table, slamming a box of chocolates down in the middle of the table before he slumped into the free seat with a glum look on his face, “Marlene rejected me,” he muttered before anybody could ask.
You and Lily exchanged amused glances; the both of you knew exactly why Marlene had rejected him. Though, you did feel sorry for Sirius, he probably hadn’t been rejected by a girl before, and if he had, you couldn’t remember it. You glanced at the box and saw that it was a box of chocolate cauldrons, the ones with the Firewhisky centre. They were both yours and Remus’ favourites.
“Well, how about we share them? It’s not as bad as it seems Sirius, trust me,” he looked up at you, giving you a grateful smile that only served to enhance his handsome features.
Your idea seemed to be a good one as the five of you filled yourselves up with iced Butterbeer and chocolate cauldrons; you all laughed and joked with one another. You all lamented over the fact that this was your last year at Hogwarts and reminisced about years gone by. That afternoon was one of the best in your life. You wished that you could all stay that way forever, young, and seventeen. Though, you knew that summer couldn’t last forever.
---------------------
Sirius tapped his quill against his forehead, almost in an attempt to knock the answers from his head, he did kind of regret not doing it at James’ – he’d been living with his best mate for the past year and he couldn’t be happier. He had wanted to make the most of his last summer of freedom; he had spent the best part of it playing Quidditch with James. Sirius looked outside the compartment window at the rolling hills to distract himself from writing his essay.
The compartment door slid open and Y/N came walking in with a relieved smile as she sat down next to Remus, “everything alright?” Remus asked, not once looking up from his book.
“Yeah, everything is perfect,” she smiled, gazing out of the window.
Sirius sulked as he felt a twinge of jealousy; Y/N had been talking with his younger brother, Regulus. It had looked like she was really confiding in Regulus about something and Sirius just couldn’t imagine why she hadn’t talked to him. She wasn’t even friends with Regulus.
“What were you and Regulus talking about?” he narrowed his eyes at the pretty girl that was sitting opposite him and he ignored Lily’s smirk.
Y/N looked over at him with a mocking grin, “if you must know, your mum came over to my house over the summer to speak to my parents. I thought that Regulus might know why. I would have asked you but I think it’s plainly obvious that you wouldn’t know. I know how much you hate your mum.”
“Oh,” Sirius said lamely, the jealousy disapparated from his body, leaving him feeling pretty stupid.
“Were you jealous, Black?” Y/N smirked, causing Sirius to scowl at her.
“In your dreams, Y/L/N,” he muttered.
Lily laughed at this interaction as she leaned over James to speak to Y/N, “never mind about him, how is Finn feeling about his first year?”
Y/N sighed happily, “oh, he’s so excited, he’s just worried about getting put in Slytherin, I think he’s more worried about my reaction. So, I told him that no matter what happens, it’ll be okay and he’ll always be my little best mate.
“Well, Slughorn was a Slytherin and he’s a nice enough fellow, he didn’t go bad or anything like that,” Lily commented reasonable, causing Y/N to beam and nod at her.
“Everything really will be alright Y/N,” Peter spoke up, taking the words right out of Sirius’ mouth.
“Yeah I know, thank you Pete,” she gave him a pretty smile.
It seemed like all too soon that the six friends were sitting in the magnificent Great Hall as they waited for the sorting ceremony to start. While they were waiting, Y/N engaged Nearly Headless Nick in conversation about his summer. Nick was complaining that his request to join the headless hunt had once again been rejected. Sirius thought that it was very sweet of Y/N to take the time to speak to him. She tried to speak to all of the ghosts, even The Bloody Baron.
The boy’s marauding plans were interrupted by the start of the sorting ceremony; all six of them seemed to be holding their breath when the Sorting Hat was placed on Finn’s little curly head, “Slytherin!” the hat called out, and little Finn looked so nervous as he wandered over to the cheery Slytherin table.
Fury rose in Sirius as Lucius Malfoy looked through the sea of people to smirk at Y/N as Finn sat down next to him, “I’m sorry Y/N.”
She shrugged, smiling at him as Gryffindor gained their newest student, “well, it was definitely the worst case scenario. In a perfect world he’d be a Gryffindor,” she sighed and Sirius wrapped an arm around her shoulders, “as long as he doesn’t hang around with Malfoy then I’ll be pretty happy, thank you though,” she giggled and grinned as the sorting ceremony ended and the golden plates were filled with mountains of delicious foods.

can you do the roommate prompt "Person A thinks they’re doing a great job keeping their house plants alive but actually, Person B has secretly replaced them with identical-looking fake plants so Person A can’t kill them" for Hinny? thank you hehhehe :)
thankk youuu honey <3 i love write this  I had problems with the ending, but I think it was so cute that I didn't want to change it is an AU where they are muggles, and Ginny was born before Ron, who is now the youngest. hope you like <3
LIST
--------------
They had been friends for a few decades, almost three, so when Ginny needed a home to live in after breaking up with Dean, it was not shocking to her family that she had moved in with Harry. His house was not as big as his parents', but it was very cozy, still a reminder to her that he came from a fortunate family and that all that luxury was more than ordinary, even if he had worked hard to be able to buy in an area farther from the city center. Harry was one of the big names in Hockey, there was no one living in England who did not recognize the surname Potter, which made him have more reason to live far from everything.
Ginny loved it, especially when Dean started to get sticky and go after her to try to get back what he had ruined (jealousy bordering on the possessive on her and Potter, without any reason ... or at least she hoped it was). The ex-fiance didn't know how to get to Harry's house, he was never even there, so it was a safe area and free from any public declaration of love that she could win (like that terrible serenade, at three in the morning on the street of Luna's apartment )
Harry liked it too, her company was amazing, the house was not so lonely anymore and now he had reason to return home when training was over. Not in a romantic way - even though he had already fantasized about it when he was 15. And for a millisecond, when they agreed with the idea - but in a friendly and way.
They shopped together, watched series on Harry's free nights, and had fun on the weekends, dancing on tables or climbing on the roof to sing cheesy songs and talk about nothing. Harry knew it would be an incredible experience.
He just didn't expect him to have to lie to her.
The two "met" at the nursery, when they could barely speak a full sentence, and were not sure how human relationships worked. Their mothers worked together at the Hospital, Lily - Harry's mother - and Molly - Ginny's - were doctors in different sectors, the first was a neurosurgeon and the other was a pediatrician, and it was by chance that they discovered that their children had a friendly relationship at the nursery, which meant the two of them playing a lot more time together. They went to the same school, and when they were able to formulate phrases that would allow them to maintain a reasonable dialogue, they became friends.
After that, there was no more day when Harry and Ginny were not seen together.
There were omissions at that time, small lies as when he had a not very friendly dream about her, but nothing that Harry thought would interfere with the functioning of they friendships.
But that ... well, he didn't know much.
Ginny had been so different since she broke up with Dean, buying plants of all kinds and attacking gardeners almost every day now that she had taken a vacation from work - and Harry thought that the leisure time helped the weird mood - she even painted three rooms in his house, claiming that it looked like a hospital that was so white and dull.
He didn't want to see her cry, but so far she hasn't shed a single tear, and after ending a relationship of almost 6 years, some reaction is to be expected. Right?
Maybe that was how she got it out.
The problem was not the changes in the decor, or the garden, or even his own appearance, since she had induced him to grow his hair and beard, no, the problem was that Ginny was the worst gardener Harry had ever had seen.
His mother cultivated one of the most beautiful gardens he was lucky enough to visit, even though he traveled all over the world, he had never seen a better and more organized one like Lily Potter's, always alive and colorful, and even in winter. mother managed to make everything beautiful. His father said that his wife always seemed to be doing surgery on the leaves, such concentration and devotion to the garden.
But Ginny's was just ... a mess.
And it wasn't even because of the mess he would complain about, it was fun to see her full of dirt, with a team cap, and her cheeks flushed with sunshine, talking about the newest acquisition and how she had been doing a good job .. And there lived the lie. Ginny was not doing it well, in fact, she killed far more than five seedlings, Harry was betting his fortune that none so far had survived. Not without him.
After seeing her smiling like a child because flowers were blooming all over the garden, he couldn't stop. Every time one died, or was close to death, he changed and fertilized everything again, following his mother's advice and trying to keep the mess she always left behind. Almost every night, Harry needed to sneak out of his own home to fertilize, water or replant some poor flower that hadn't survived in Gin's hands.
Harry didn't want her to suffer, and it seemed so important that it worked, that he didn't even think about it.
''Another flower was born'' She said smiling, appearing as soon as he opened the back door, the birds singing like crazy in the trees behind the house, the sun shining in the pool and across the garden, as well as in on top of Gin, making it look like a fucking flame lit up "I bought one more .. This one will stay inside" Well, that would be a problem. Harry thought. Being indoors, it ended her chances of not realizing that they were dying.
And that's how he ended up with several plants around the house, all of which were fake. Ginny was still wetting them as if she wanted to drown them, and then, there he was going to buy new pairs or just hope that he could still dry the poor things without mold spots appearing on their fake leaves.
He also continued with the garden work, which didn't seem as organized as his mother's, but was much better than the week he tried to trust Gin's endowments and ended up having to spend two hours taking care of the damage that had been done. .
His house was much greener than it had been in years, there were vines on the walls, a vertical garden in the TV room, and his dining room was almost a nonliving garden. Even though most of them were fake - Ginny had been so excited that she had managed to keep so many of her, always bringing a new one after work - he had realized how happy she was, which made him happy too.
Dean was no longer an issue, eventually Gin cried, after drinking two bottles of wine and watching a sweet romantic comedy on TV, and she was back at work, which left him with more time to replenish and take care of everything.
There were also strange things that Harry didn't want to comment or think about, for example the way he started to notice her legs, or the frequency in which his dreams of her came back as when he was 15, and we wouldn't even talk about that totally strange moment that two looked like they were going to kiss when they went swimming together. Gin was so close ... so fragrant.
But on the current night, when he came in from training later than usual, Harry knew he had been discovered. Maybe it was because of Gin's expression, but he suspected it was because of the plastic flower flying towards him, forcing him to dodge, listening to the clay vase breaking against the wall and the damp earth staining everything.
''Were you mistaken me?!'' she shouted.
Oh, the angry Ginny was always a problem.
''No'' Harry swallowed hard ''Well, yes, but you looked so happy ..'' And one more flower flew
''And instead of telling me I sucked at this, did you prefer to lie?'' Harry thanked that the neighbors were a good distance away, or else they would have noise complaints
''I didn't want to-- '' But he was stopped by another plant flying towards him.
''I thought we were friends'' Ginny sounded all dramatic and painful, as she always did, but Harry didn't want to laugh this time, she seemed to be really serious
''And we are. Gin .. Please put the pot down .. Gin, you looked so happy, and… fuck, I didn't know what to do to help you, you were all weird and nothing really seemed to cheer you up! ... I swear I did it because I wanted to see you smile again'' He said, sounding a lot calmer than he thought he could be. His heart looked like it was about to rip open his chest.
''You did this to ... Harry, you could have told me!'' She spoke a little lower this time, but still loudly
''I didn't want to see you sad!'' His voice came out loud this time ''It makes me sad to see you sad'' They were silent, Ginny looked around the entire room loaded with fake flowers, then at the big window that it overlooked the back of the house, the lit garden was all flowery and alive, seeming to glow in the night. There were roses, jasmines, lilies, and even, varied fruits scattered across the land. All bright and colorful.
Ginny approached, which made Harry instinctively want to take a step back, just to be safe. "You're a fucking romantic noble idiot" Then she kissed him.

Yellow Bells
Pairing: Kim Yugyeom x reader
Genre: florist au / fluff
Warnings: none
A/N: this is for the lovely @mrkimyugyeom for her birthday today. Thanks to the anon the other day who mentioned the florist! concept, I realised it fits this present for my dear friend perfectly. Thank you for everything you have done for me over the last year, Nora! I’m so grateful for our friendship Xxx
Word count: 2136
Tumblr media
“Are you sure you can manage on your own, Yugyeom?”
He nodded, ushering his parents eagerly to the exit of the store. “Mum, I’ve grown up in this shop. I’m pretty sure I know every type of flower in here from your little songs you sing as you care for them. Go, I can handle it for a week.”
“He’s right, darling. The florist will be here when we return from our vacation,” Yugyeom’s father assured, tugging his wife outside. She turned to look forlornly at Yugyeom.
Or, probably the row of baby azaleas behind him.
“Make sure you water-”
“I will and I’ll feed those in the tropical part and check the temperature for the lilies and honestly Mum, I can handle this.”
She reluctantly nodded, stretching to place a kiss on his cheek as she hugged him. He waved his parents off as they drove away for their first vacation alone since he was born over twenty years ago. And as soon as they were out of sight, he stepped back into the house of flora and slumped visibly.
Sure, he wanted his parents to have a good time. And he wasn’t exactly lying; he had spent more time within this florist growing up than in the apartment above it.
But Yugyeom wasn’t born possessing a green thumb like his parents. He was even somewhat affected by pollen and since his mother was deeply attached to her flower children, he had only minded the store a handful of times.
“I can do this,” he reaffirmed, nodding his head and slipping his hands deep within his pockets, eying the succulents’ table carefully. “We’ll do this together, right guys?”
He then grimaced, wondering how his mother could speak so fondly to everything in here without any problem. So, maybe he wouldn’t be singing the bushes down the back to sleep as he locked up later on.
But he’d at least be able to keep the store running for the next five days.
Hopefully.
Tumblr media
The first day started well. Yugyeom followed the pages of instructions his mother left behind for him to follow, the step by step guide foolproof. He managed to serve a couple of customers and take an order for next week for an event when his mother would be back to make new intricate arrangements.
But that was where he was failing the most. Staring down at the stack of cut-offs lying on the decorative paper he had chosen, Yugyeom groaned out loud. There was no charm to the arrangement he had made. They all clashed and he knew even he wouldn’t buy this to give to anyone.
“You need a different colour palette to balance out all this pink,” you called and he glanced up, his breath getting caught in his throat.
You smiled politely and pointed to the flowers. “You have pink roses, pink tulips and pink carnations. Monochrome is nice but I think if you changed the carnations for a white, it would make the arrangement more interesting.”
“I can do white,” he slowly replied, soon grinning at you. “Thanks!”
“Anytime. I have an order to pick up under the name Y/N,” you stated and Yugyeom nodded, turning to the computer to look up the details, keeping you in his peripheral as he did so.
You glanced around mindlessly. “Mrs Kim isn’t around?”
“Nope, she’s on vacation this week.”
“Oh so you’re Yugyeom then,” you commented and he stopped looking up your order details, blinking rapidly at the fact that you knew his name. You chuckled. “Your Mum talks about you a lot.”
“Really? Are you sure you didn’t hear her say Yellow bells instead?”
You grinned. “I sense some jealousy here. The plants will be offended.”
“You really do know my mother,” he retorted with a breathy chuckle, hiking his thumb in the direction of the storeroom. “I’ll just get your order.”
He returned with a bag of fertiliser and some seeds, sliding them up onto the top of the free counter space. After ringing up your order and accepting your card, Yugyeom then held onto it a little longer than he should. You eyed his lack of action curiously.
“So white?”
You nodded. “White. Don’t stress too much, someone will buy them.”
“Easy for you to say, you’re not the one jealous of flowers,” he teased when he handed back your card.
“Who knows, if it’s still here tomorrow, I might buy it.”
“You’ll be back tomorrow?”
Shrugging, you reached for your purchases. “Perhaps.”
Yugyeom waited for your return the following day. He had managed to empty out the clearance table to a kind elderly couple, stacked the new batch of supplies that arrived just before lunch and even got a start on another mediocre bouquet of flowers when the jingle of the bell over the door made him look up and find you walking inside. He dropped the roll of ribbon he had been fumbling with and then yelped when it landed on his foot.
You laughed. “And a hello to you as well, Yellow bells.”
“I’m going to regret saying that to you yesterday, aren’t I?” he grumbled, bending down to retrieve the ribbon. When he stood back up, you were holding his first arrangement. Yugyeom sighed. “You don’t have to.”
“Why not? I want to be the first person to have one of Yellow-”
“I swear, Y/N if you keep it up!” he cut in with a hearty laugh, your own soon joining his. When the moment was over, Yugyeom then waved you off. “You can have it.”
“Well, I plan on that.”
“No, I mean, for free.”
You grew curious. “Don’t businesses require financial backing?”
“They also require creativity and some sense of pride in their work. That sad bunch has neither. I can’t expect you to buy it.”
“I will. And I will continue to keep buying them until you have just that!”
“What did you say?”
“Ring it up for me, Yellow bells.”
Tumblr media
By the fourth day of your regular appearances to the florist, Yugyeom was certain of two things. One, he really liked you. There was just something about you that captivated him and he wanted to talk to you endlessly. Even if it was all about the species of one plant family, he was certain he would listen to every word you said.
Secondly, he knew his mother was behind all this.
“She told you to come and check on her babies, didn’t she?” he asked pointedly when you appeared, looking rather inconspicuously at the indoor houseplants section.
“Who?”
“My mother,” he said and you smiled. “I knew she didn’t trust me!”
“She does actually, like I said, all she talks about is you, Yellow bells.”
He clamped his eyes closed momentarily to clear out the nickname that he was growing rather attached to and then rounded the counter, coming over to your side. “Then why are you turning up every day?”
“Have you made another arrangement yet?” you wondered and Yugyeom rubbed the back of his neck, nodding shyly. “Where is it?”
“It uh, it sold.”
You almost looked upset. “You’re kidding me! Then you’ve done it!”
“I think the old lady felt sorry for me. Something about going home to pretty it up in one of her fine vases.”
“Well, your colour choices are improving so you never know.”
“What’s the deal about you anyway? You always talk about colour.”
You grinned. “I study colour theory at the local university.”
“Huh.” Yugyeom moved over to look at a baby fern, inspecting its leaves. “You’re majoring in art?”
“Business management. I just take it as an extra paper.”
“What’s the end goal for you then?”
“Really?” you asked, biting at your bottom lip as you grinned. “Is Yellow bells interested in where I end up?”
“I’d laugh if it was a florist.” Your eyes sparkled as your lips twitched and Yugyeom gaped at you. “A florist?!”
“I’ve been helping your mother make changes to the business marketing part of the shop for three months now. So it would be this florist.”
“I’ve never seen you before.”
“You moved out, remember.”
“You know too much,” he breathed and you nudged him.
“Not everything.”
“Enough,” he lamented and moved back to the counter in a slump. “You’ll come and work for the family and then you’ll not see me for anything more than Yellow bells then.”
“Were you hoping I’d see you for more than that?” you questioned, unable to hide your intrigue.
“I’m glad the old lady bought the bouquet now.”
“You’ll just have to make me another one,” you concluded, heading towards the door. You stepped out, only to stick your head back around the corner. “Make sure it doesn’t sell before I get here again tomorrow.”
Tumblr media
Yugyeom was discouraged. With the knowledge that you were being primed to join the family business, he couldn’t see how this would separate him enough from the son of your future employer. He barely said a word to any of the plants as he locked up that night and grunted in greeting the following morning. He only had to get through today. Tomorrow, his parents would be back and he would be able to return to his apartment downtown and forget all about the way you smiled whenever you called him your preferred nickname.
The day felt like it was dragging. He completed all the morning chores, ensuring the plants that needed watering or fed an enrichment mixture had been checked off his list before he approached the arrangement station. Yugyeom had gathered an assorted bunch of flowers earlier in the morning. There was nothing special to them, just cut-offs that didn’t seem to fit in with others. Together, however, they seemed aesthetically pleasing. Choosing to wrap them in simple brown paper to enhance their beauty, he placed the bouquet into the front stand, going back to working on some multi-coloured roses.
The doorbell jingled and he didn’t even look up. He knew it was you.
“Afternoon flower babies,” you called out, sounding just like his mother. He huffed petulantly, trimming off the excess stem of the rose he was readying for the arrangement. You were soon in front of him. But instead of greeting him with his nickname, you didn’t say anything.
Yugyeom looked up to see what was wrong, his eyes narrowing when he found you staring at something in awe. “What’s wrong with you?”
“You made this?”
“Oh them? Yeah, I felt sorry for them since they didn’t match with their other batches so I put them all together. It’s a bit wild, huh?”
“I love it,” you confessed shakily, blinking a few times. You then glanced up at him and he could see how moved you were. “It’s beautiful, Yugyeom.”
He was overwhelmed. He hadn’t expected this reaction to the bouquet, or within himself. Your words bounced around his insides, shooting off spikes of warmth. He was certain he was madly blushing and cleared his throat awkwardly. “Oh uh, well.”
“I can’t buy this,” you murmured, still clutching the bouquet despite your statement. Your eyes searched his and Yugyeom eventually grinned bashfully.
“Good, I can finally gift you some flowers, Y/N.”
“One of many bunches, I hope.”
“You forget, today’s my last day here.”
You faltered. “You don’t plan to visit?”
“Well, yeah I come and see my parents most weekends.”
“Then you can make me some flowers then.”
“You won’t be here every day, will you?” he wondered, trying not to stare at you too much. He felt there was more to what you were expressing and his palms started to sweat as he thought over what next to say. “You… you wouldn’t come here looking for me, would you?”
“I have every day this week, haven’t I?”
Yugyeom frowned. “That’s because of my mother’s-”
“Actually, she just asked me to come in on Wednesday. I was curious and couldn’t wait until then.”
“Curious about what?”
“You,” you confessed, burying your face into the flowers you held to hide your expression. You then gazed up at him once more at ease. “You’re kind of handsome, Yellow bells.”
He sighed heavily. “It was going so well.”
“Don’t tell me you don’t like it,” you mused and Yugyeom laughed.
“I’ll need to come up with a nickname for you then too,” he announced and you tilted your head to the side.
“You seemed so sure we wouldn’t be crossing paths after today.”
He grinned. “Didn’t you say I needed to make more flower arrangements?”
“I did.”
“Well, I’ve got some new ideas. I need to try them out when I come by. Since you’ll be here, after all.”
You seemed to bloom then, brightening up entirely. “Well Yellow bells, I can’t wait to see what you come up with next.”

If you're still doing this, top 5 ouat arcs and top 5 villains?
I am still doing these! I’ve just been busy over the last week (and also I take ages writing very long winded answers). These were such good asks, thank you so much anon! <3
Top 5 arcs:
1. Season 1
Maybe this will surprise people but I won’t deny that I actually really had to force myself to get through the first season of ouat. On my first watch my fave characters were Regina and Rumple (because at least they were funny and therefore entertaining) and I just wasn’t gripped by any of the rest of them. Then I finished up to season 5 (since s6 hadn’t aired) and...rewatched it. And it is was so much better on rewatch. Yes, there are still bits I don’t like about season 1 (the love triangle with snow/david/kathryn still annoys me and I will never not be furious about the graham situation and just how poorly that storyline played out.) but the rest of it? Incredible. Everything just felt so balanced and well thought through. Yes, it was still a show about fairy tale characters (specifically...disney characters) but in season 1 all their stories felt mature and considered (instead of gimmicky). The wardrobe plot? Genius. And I just love the way they set up Storybrooke as a place and how we slowly get to know who each of it’s denizens are.
2. Season 3A
Season 3A was my fave season for a long time. Why? Because it’s gooooood! Pan is fun. I like the ‘Pan is actually Rumple’s horrible dad’ plot twist. I like Rumple’s character growth in his arc. I like Neal and Henry and their interactions. I like Emma’s character growth and how she comes to a lot of realisations about herself in this arc. I like that turmoil that Snow and David are separately experiencing (David’s thing with the dreamshade and Snow feeling guilty that she feels angry about missing out on Emma’s childhood). And I like some of the new characters introduced like Tinker Bell. I just feel like there’s a lot of good and interesting character development going on in 3A and overall I really like it for that.
3. Season 2
Season 2 is just Season 1 but with a bit more emphasis on the fairy tale part...and that’s why it’s good. I love the vast range of characters that we get to see and how much fun Once has in introducing every fairy tale character they possibly can. Mulan gets her debut! I love Tiny and that he finds a family with the dwarves, Cora is a pretty fun villain and I’m glad we get to see more of Victor’s backstory as well. There are a whole host of really great episodes in this season and I really like it <3
4. Season 4A
4A would be potentially higher on this list if it wasn’t for its pitfalls. The good parts about 4A were the Snow Queen’s arc (which did not get enough screen time) and all the bits to do with Emma’s past and childhood. Loved all of it. The issues I have with 4A stem from the frozen plot line. Now let me just say that frozen is easily one of my fave disney movies, so of COURSE I was pleased to see frozen characters. But I just wish that it had been a cameo instead of taking up the whole arc. And I also wish that they’d changed the damn costuming for the frozen characters as well. Poor Elsa being stuck in that dress for the entire arc was just heartbreaking. The whole thing felt like a cash grab and I just wanted it to be executed so much better than it was. THAT SAID I did still like it and yes I like this arc a lot overall.
5. Season 4B
This is just a FUN arc. I love the Queens of Darkness so I’ll admit that’s a big factor for me but also I love the emphasis on family in this arc. Obviously, you do have the turmoil between Emma and her parents and honestly I’m less keen on that whole plot line but on the flipside you have characters like Maleficent and her broken relationship with her daughter. Or maybe I AM just swayed by the Queens of Darkness
TOP 5 VILLAINS:
1. Jafar (OUATIW)
And yet another reason as to why OUATIW is so good... I won’t spoil too much in case there are those of you that would like to watch Wonderland and haven’t just yet, but..he’s just fabulous, I swear. Genuinely threatening and evil, but also suave and sexy, he makes for a pretty decent villain. But it’s what’s underneath it all that really pushes him to be a great villain. He has one of the most harrowing tragic childhood backstories out of any ouat character but he isn’t given a redemption arc because of it. We have a better understanding of his anger and why he did what he did. We have genuine sympathy towards his character. But it doesn’t change his status as a villain and I just think he has one of the most mature character arcs of any villain in ouat and that some of ouat’s other villains could have benefited from a similar narrative themselves.
2. Cruella de Vil
I mentioned her on my top 5 character list so I won’t ramble but she’s just FUN. I’m sure most of you have already seen that post floating around in response to the new Cruella movie, and how ouat’s Cruella backstory worked so well, and that post sums it up pretty perfectly. The show tries to make you think that a tragic backstory is going to play out...but it doesn’t. And she was just...an evil murderer that likes manipulating people and having her own way. She’s over the top and ridiculous and I never thought I would see Cruella de Vil playing angry birds on screen.
3. Zelena Mills
Zelena! is! a! fun! villain! Idk guys, I just feel like Zelena gets a lot of hate from fandom in a way that almost none of the other villains do. Is she a terrible person? obviously, yes. But she’s so uncompromisingly evil and she has FUN while she does it and I can’t not love and respect that. I think that her villain origin story is a little weak at times (the jealousy angle is obviously a necessity but also a little overplayed at times) but overall I just love her dry humour and snarky little comments and I think she’s lots of fun.
4. Rumplestlistkin
I care a lot less about Rumple post season 3 but I will say that overall I think he’s a really enjoyable character and a fun villain. Imp!Rumple in particular is super fun (although I really like his Mr. Gold alter ego almost as much). He’s chaotic on the surface but meticulous and calculating on the inside and that makes for a thoroughly enjoyable villain. Killing him off at the end of season 3A would have been a better narrative arc for his character...but I won’t deny that I would have been sad to see him go so early on and the show wouldn’t have been the same without him.
5. Maleficent
Mal is a little different to the others on this list because actually I really like (I’m not quite sure that you can call it a redemption arc, per se, but) the sympathy her character is given. She was always a pretty neutral villain. She mostly seemed to just mind her own business unless she was provoked. And then she had her child stolen from her and I really did feel for her. She’s badass, cool and sexy and I hope she and Lily are having some nice mother-daughter bonding moments in Storybrooke or wherever they are. (Plus that suit is one of the best villain looks in the entire show).
