Trans man upset that his body does not act like a man's even though he is pre literally everything and his body can't just change randomly
Dysphoria sucks, dumb emotions caused by dumb bodily functions suck

it’s so funny to me that people used to try to warn me “if you go on t it won’t make you androgynous it’ll just make you look like a man” because 1) i do want to look like a man, that is famously a major part of being a trans man but also 2) t literally has made me androgynous?? like they were wrong on both counts. i got most of the looking-like-a-man changes that i wanted (deep voice, broader body, hair all over my body including my face) and i also give every single cis person in a five mile radius a stroke every time they try to figure out my gender. the assumption that trans men wouldn’t actually want to look like men and the assumption that cis people are good at correctly gendering us once we’re on t are both weird as hell.

If y'all don't believe that transmascs experience misogyny let me tell you something that happened recently.
There was a post that was essentially making fun of "pick me gays", where they were saying that "I don't watch rupal's drag race, I don't like being called "gurl" and I don't do *insert stereotypical gay activity"". And in that post I commented that some people don't like being called "gurl" or "girl" because it makes them dysphoric and you shouldn't label them a "pick me" because of it. The responses I got for that comment were SO hostile for the sake of my mental health I had to delete the comment. Some people even tried to PURPOSELY trigger my dysphoria.
In that same post a cis man said that he prefers men who are masculine and he shouldn't be shamed for his preferences, and EVERYONE agreed with that.
If you don't see the hypocrisy IDK what to tell you.

I need to confess this somewhere and you're the unfortunate individual. I'm like 80% sure purple guy, specifically the Sexy Tumblr Edition™️, was my trans awakening. No longer quiiiiite goals, but definitely contributed. That one bloody painter creepypasta guy too, purple guy planted the seeds of thought but painter man watered them. 🏳️⚧️

liked the people’s joker but to no one’s surprise i wish the depictions of trans masculinity were, um, more nuanced. but it’s still really fucking good and worth seeing. just don’t expect to see any fully developed trans masc characters who aren’t like, explicitly abusive shitheads or joke characters
8.5/10 movie, would be a 9.5 if they’d given the penguin mastectomy scars. if your only character with visible top surgery scars or visible transmasc traits is a fucking shithead, idk, i think that is sort of mean to the other type of trans person who is Not You

thinking about trans Julian again specifically thinking about the idea of Julian being trans but electing to not undergo any gender-affirming surgeries
like I was thinking about this the other day in the context of his line about him and Kira being the only other options for a womb when he had to transplant the baby from Keiko, because the implication that Julian has a womb also implies he's elected out of having a hysterectomy for gender-affirming purposes. I say that because we know gender-affirming surgeries- at least the more cosmetic ones- are very easy to undergo (see Profit and Lace, where they very quickly and easily turn Quark into a woman (yes I know it wasn't gender-affirming for him but its the easiest episode to use for my point)) so I feel like it wouldnt be a reach to say that a hysterectomy would be a fairly easy procedure to ask for and undergo
which as ive been thinking about it more I think this like. perfectly tracks with Julian as a character, that he would opt out of undergoing gender-affirming procedures. because I think, considering what his parents did to him and how strongly he resents it, that he would steer clear of anything he would view as "changing" himself. honestly so far in the future I think its safe to assume views of transitioning are very different, and I'd like to think that there wouldnt be nearly as much social pressure to physically transition at all, but even if there was I think Julian would be very resistant to the idea that he would "have" to change anything about himself. Julian is very unapologetically himself in every regard, so im pretty confident in saying that that would translate over to his gender identity and asserting that he is a man, and he doesnt need to change anything about himself or his body to be one

One of the things I sometimes struggle with as a nonbinary creator with nonbinary characters is the idea that I can "protect" them from misgendering. That if I don't describe their body in any way and never use any words to describe them that might be even remotely gendered and make sure any art of them is androgenous enough then people will be forced to see them as nonbinary and not just "basically a man/woman"

There is nothing wrong with being trans masc, but if a trans man tells you he is a man, and you turn around and call him a 'trans masc' I see y'all and y'all make my skin crawl.
Trans masc and trans man don't inherently mean the same things to everyone— it costs nothing to respect people's identities and not use terminology for them that they do not use for themselves.
I don't call myself trans masc, and when others still call me that it is technical misgendering. Idc what anyone says. If I call myself a man, and you call me a masc instead, that is not the same thing. Y'all don't go around calling cishet men 'mascs'.

As a trans person i think the worst gender envy i experience is towards my male cousin who is the spitting image of my father when he was his age. Why do i not get to be the young, handsome, better interpretation of my father when im the one whose had to live with the asshole my whole life. My cousin got my fathers looks and i got my fathers temper and mental illnesses
