I have another idea, but it would be a spoiled and clingy Princess with her dear childhood friend. I now have no way of elaborating on this idea, other than a Princess - 💙☺
Ooo, this is interesting because I have mentioned a few times about a Knight OC I never posted - maybe if I ever end up posting him, there could be some kind of crossover with him and the Princess? Idk lol Dead Dove Extended Universe confirmed
Anyway, I hope this is okay!! I really like historical stuff, especially Mediaeval and Victorian era my university dissertation was about Mediaeval monks and how their handwriting influenced modern letterforms and typography so this was very fun to write!!

OC Intro - Her Royal Highness, The Princess Theophania
Royal Yandere
Female ♡ 24 ♡ Human ♡ Princess
TW: Stalking, obsession, abuse of power, implied murder, reader is gender neutral as far as I could manage but it was kind of difficult since nobility titles and servant titles were very much gendered in the middle ages
♡ - You were fortunate - your mother working as a chambermaid in the castle and you being born around the same time as the princess meant that unlike most people who weren’t nobility, you got to spend time with Theophania.
♡ - You were childhood friends. Whenever she had a spare moment not taken up by her education, she’d run down to find you, and you’d both play whatever games you could think of until some tutor or the Queen dragged her off again.
♡ - She’d always smile at you, and even as children, as you looked at each other, you couldn’t help but wonder - what was the difference between royalty and the common folk? Why were they kept so separate?
♡ - As time went on and you both grew older, however, you two were kept separate more and more, the King finding it unbecoming that the princess spent her time with a commoner. Eventually, it got to the point where you never saw her anymore as she was kept locked away, learning the responsibilities that came with royalty.
♡ - It wasn’t until you were grown, and took up working as a servant yourself, that you saw her again - a banquet, held in honour of her reaching the age were she was ready to be married. You were stunned by her beauty as she stepped into the grand hall, luminous before all the guests. You doubted that she even remembered you existed.
♡ - But Theophania never forgot - as her eyes scanned the hundreds of people looking at her, she recognised you almost immediately even though you’d changed so much since you were children. She never forgave anyone that she’d been torn from you, and now she had influence of her own as a fully fledged royal, she was determined to use it to get to you.
♡ - The King brought in many suitors for Theophania to court, each bringing lavish gifts of fine silks, gold, furs, jewels, rare spices and fruits from the East, myrrh from the Holy Land, or rare texts, all in hopes of winning Theophania over. Knights, nobles, princes and kings from other kingdoms all came to try their luck at being betrothed to Theophania, but all were rejected.
♡ - Theophania was determined her marriage shouldn’t be one of political convenience. She wanted a love match, and she wanted you, but she knew the King would never allow her to marry a commoner. So she had to get creative.
♡ - There was a great deal of controversy and outrage when, out of nowhere, she asked for you to serve as her chamberlain, getting rid of her old one. You could hardly believe it yourself - did she really remember you?
♡ - You struggled to get used to your new duties, helping her get dressed, stoking fires to keep her warm, bringing her things to eat, cleaning her chambers, yet she was very forgiving of you when you did make a mistake. She never mentioned the time you spent together as children, though, making you wonder if she really did recall.
♡ - More suitors tried for her hand in marriage, and the King was becoming impatient, ready to begin forcing her to marry one. But that’s when they began to mysteriously die.
♡ - Everytime a new suitor came, he was discovered the next morning, dead. No one could work out how they died, and rumours began to spread that the Princess was cursed.
♡ - The many gifts from her dead suitors stayed stashed in her room, and after spying you admiring them, she gave you a wicked smile, and offered them to you. You declined at first - it was illegal for a commoner to own such finery, and besides, you couldn’t have read any of the book anyway with no education of your own. But Theophania insisted.
♡ - She fed you sweetmeats and quinces and fruit dusted in beautiful spices the likes of which you’d never tasted. She draped you in furs when you were cold and silks when you were warm and demanded that anyone who objected leave you alone before they were executed. She patiently sat next to you, teaching you how to read and scribe with a quill, so that you could be educated.
♡ - Little by little, you began to look less like a servant and more like a noble - completely changing over the course of months.
♡ - Suddenly, the King mysteriously began to get ill, a terrible sickness worsening with each passing day. It looked as though he may die soon - but Theophania was oddly calm.
♡ - With no brothers to speak of, nor a husband, she’d be next to inherit the throne, and as the King became too weak to rule, she had to take on the mantle of Regent Queen, making her the most powerful in the Kingdom.
♡ - With no one left to challenge her, she turns to you, a saccharine smile on her face. “My beloved servant - Now I am Queen, how would you like to be gifted a Dukedom?”
♡ - After all, she couldn’t marry a commoner - but nobility was more than acceptable.

13, 19, 26 and 42!
Oooh omg okay I love these questions we're getting into process and organization this is fantastic thank you
13. Where or from whom did you learn how to gif?
When I first started, I think I had found some tutorial somewhere that I was using and I wasn't having a great time of it lol. But then @itstruthtime linked me to this tutorial and it pretty much changed my life tbh. 20/10, would recommend to anyone who wants to learn to gif. Of course there are lots of other little tutorials and various tips and tricks I've picked up along the way, but as for the basics, it's that tutorial. And also just like, I would like to make a point to shout out Cim in general who has been very patient and helpful and encouraging as I've been learning things, and is always happy to kindly let me know when I have been doing things I didn't even realize were wrong, like always posting my gifsets as text posts instead of image posts lmao.
19. What is your giffing process like?
Well, it's basically like the tutorial I linked in the last question. I plan out my concept, including scenes and any text that will need to go with each gif, and I usually just write that down in a notepad file that I don't even save. Then I check to see if I have screencaps of the scenes I want to use - sometimes I'll end up finding a different scene to use that way as well, but if I don't already have the scene I want screencapped and I don't find an alternative, then that's my next step (screencapping my beloathed). Then it's loading all the frames in and converting them to a smart object with the gif action I have. And then the fun begins!
Usually I start with a curves layer and maybe levels just to get the brightness right, and then I start playing around with hue/saturation and selective colour to adjust the colouring. About a month ago I realized that you can actually adjust the hue/saturation of individual colours rather than the whole image at once so uh... thanks for Cim for helping me come to that realization lmao. The option was literally right there I just didn't look so WHOOPS. Once I have the colouring right I move on to any typography that needs to be added, which is basically just a process of cycling through a million fonts until I find one or two that feel right, picking colours and setting styles, switching it screen or vivid light or exclusion or whatever else makes it look the best. I do all of that on just one gif, and then I usually drag those layers over to the other gifs as a base and just tweak them until everything looks like it goes together well.
Then I export them all to gifs and load them into a post draft, and this is the point where I usually realize that I forgot to set them to loop so they just play once or stop, or I didn't adjust the end of the timeline so it just goes white and the typography is there without an image behind it for a moment lol. So then I go back and fix that and save the gifset as a draft. I take a look at the post there to see how it looks all together, and I also look at it on my phone (I've realized that some of my gifsets are probably too saturated because for some reason everything looks so much less saturated on my laptop than on my phone, so this is an important step). And then it's just a matter of tweaking things until it looks good in both places!
26. How many un-posted sets are in your drafts right now?
I've answered this already, and the answer remains: none. I'm too impatient for that lol. If I had anything in my drafts, you would know because I would be making posts complaining about it (see: 1, 2, 3, 4)
42. How is your gif folder organized? Is it organized at all?
Yes it's very organized!!
Okay so first in my main gif folder I have a folder for everything I've posted, a folder for templates and just other useful things to come back to, a folder my things I make for my own blog (basically just my header I guess lol), and a folder for things I make for the KurtbastianArchive blog. And then any other folders are just for gifsets that I am working on at the moment. You can see in this screenshot that I'm planning an alignment gifset (like an alignment chart of Glee characters) and a Kurtbastian gifset with Mr. Brightside lyrics... I have not touched either in a long time lmao so they won't be happening anytime soon.
Tumblr media
And then within the posted folder, I have a folder dedicated to each gifset I've ever posted. I have sort of standard naming conventions, where I generally start with the character or ship it's about, and will also include if it's for a specific event or a specific person usually, and then some other detail to describe it (which, as you can see, is usually a song name lol).
Tumblr media
And then inside each of those folders, I have the PSD and the GIF file for each gif in the set :)
I also have a really organized file structure set up for my screencaps! Each episode gets it's own folder, and then within the folder there are subfolders for specific scenes. That way once I screencap a scene, I don't have to do it again, I can just come back and reuse the same screencaps. I usually try to screencap a whole scene at a time rather than just the specific moment that I plan to use for exactly that reason.

This week has been pretty fun actually in typography. I did learn that I have an intense hatred for the ‘clipping path’ tool in Indesign though, but that’s another story lol. So this week we primarily focused on in class reviews of our printed and digital spreads for our projects. I’m really impressed with everyone’s work honestly, especially for a beginner level class! I also kind of impressed myself to be honest because I went into this portion of the project absolutely panicking. I wanted a clean cut and modern spread that is cohesive but not repetitive and all in all, I’m pretty happy with what I created. I played with the alignment of the text quite a bit (idk why but I kept wanting to default to ‘justify’ for some reason). I’d say the most fun part for me was creating the little background design on page 6. I made it on Indesign, but I ended up doing a screenshot and creating it as one solid background, just so I wouldn’t have to worry about all of the shape vectors making a mess out of everything for me when I was adjusting other components on the page. But oh my god you wouldn’t believe the time I had with the final letter on page 6. I have no idea why, but every time I would save my pdf, the letter would be clean and crisp, but when I would go to reopen the document, it would show up as a grainy sh!tshow and no matter what I did, it would just revert back to that ugly low-res looking blob lol. I still don’t know how I worked around it, but I think I got it to finally stay put.
I’ve included screenshots of my spread, as well as a funny extra photo of the sinister grainy Hayd letter I created lol.
Enjoy it in all its crusty glory.

i read on your about page that you're a graphic design student~ i was wondering which nct comeback and/or album design (and/or fan edit) do you like the most? 👀 and least (if you have something to complain about gdhsjsdj 🙈 i know czennies can make so much better design than sm sometimes 😭)
Oooooo aw thank you for taking the time to read that lol.
So wow that's a big question cuz like NCT has such a big discography. And they have pretty good music in each unit so it's pretty hard to just choose one but I guess I'll go with NCT 127's Neo Zone as one of my fave comebacks (besides every dream one aha bcuz i love them so much). I think that album cover was interesting use of like orange and dark colors. The bold font also works well with that style. Music wise all of the songs where really freaking good. And I sometimes like an entire album or am selective with the songs but it wasn't like that with Neo Zone. I even made an animation project with shapes and colors based on the interlude cuz that had me OBSESSED. I'm a sucker for instrumental stuff.
Now with album covers idk if I even have a favorite. Mostly I like to see the typography and what imagery/photgraphy they come up with and so with the typography part Glitch Mode is my most favorite. I'm lowkey a gamer (I suck) and seeing the style they went for with the video games, the helmets, and as I said the typography I was so so in it. Oh man the BeatBox repackage typography, is awesome too. Kinda graffiti like but also playful use of gestures, like the E in beat makes a hand sign.
Ah you know what? Empathy was very creative. I play animal crossing and I turned the album cover into a design. I have it as my phone case in the game and it looks cute as hell. Maybe that's my most favorite. Cuz I look at it and I'm like woah. Very unique way of making the typography and having the gradients...you know what I think Empathy is my most favorite album cover.
And I'm looking through the albums and I'll share some that I think could be better, 1. Touch Japanese Version is so plain. Like honestly SM could've done better but they really just said words and pink. There's no problem with going with a simple design but it's not something you'd expect from NCT'S musical vibe. Even if you were going to use type and one color there's other ways to go about it.
I feel like with WayV albums in general they could do so much more than just taping their logo on the center continously. 127, Dream, and U have many different styles that vary. WayV can also vary from having their logo and different textures every time.
I could do a whole analysis on each album which is why I'm gonna stop here. Watch me end up doing an album analysis series. Because really looking at this topic, kpop albums are so fun to look at. They can really get creative and just do so much plus the color usage. That's why so many people look at kpop and are like wow that's so colorful, I love the dancing, the outfits etc. It's practically what kpop is about and so the amount of graphic design involved is beyond me.
Tumblr media
(Even the sets have graphic design components. The words you see, the video games they throw around, the posters all that. It's fun to just look at.)

3, 7, and 22! 🐠 and a fishy for u my love
3: Pick your 5 favourite creations and explain what you love the most about them! lol choosing the hard questions I see well there's this one here loved how it turned out <3 the typography sits just right and works with the whole set and I think the scenes match up so well! then here I just really like how I colored the blue its so pretty then we have here idk if this really needs an explanation...they're sexy and sharp gifs 💕 here this one is just cool I had fun playing around with it and I think the colours turned out neat! lastly here I just love the layout there's not divide it just flows really nicely which I like!
7: What is something you want to develop in your future creations? tough one I'm not really sure??? maybe to just be more creative?? like work with different fonts and blending modes to get pretty sets that don't look too overcrowded or weird beyond that I'm pretty happy with my current style <3
22: A creation that was difficult to make (but worthwhile!) ok so I choose this gifset here it may not look as complicated as some of my other sets but when I tell you it took forever to make I mean it took soooo long lol I was working with 4k files and exporting them into vapoursynth took years off my life actually lol they were massive gifs but they turned out so clear that it all really was worth it in the end theyre probably some of my most HD gifs I've made like I can live in them

Since First Year - Tsukishima x Yachi
Tumblr media
31 Days of Haikyuu!! - Day 17: Favourite Pairing - tsukiyachi :D
Summary: Tsukishima has been pining for Yachi over the years. High school, college, and afterwards, he wonders if he ever had a chance in the first place. A series of snippets of Tsukishima and Yachi's relationship over the years.
Tags: Cute fluff, Pining, Canon-compliant (I think), First year, Third year, College, Sendai Frogs, Sendai City Museum, (these are all basically hints about scenes in the story lol)
This one-shot was inspired by @limach-an's tsukiyachi fanart. And I also blame @innovativestruggles for sharing it with me and for loving tsukiyachi more than I do.
Note: If tsukiyachi is your NOTP, you can just filter out the tsukiyachi tag. I’m pretty good at tagging them.

*****
Drool fell out of Tanaka's mouth, Hinata was asleep as well, and Nishinoya looked like he could pass out any minute. Kiyoko, holding a tray of food in her hand, looked at Tanaka, wondering what to do with him. Yachi panicked at the sight of Hinata's head on the table.
"He's fine, Yachi," commented Tsukishima. "Just let him sleep."
Yachi bit her lip, glancing at Tsukishima then back at Hinata. "I guess you're right," she replied. As Tsukishima continued to munch on his shrimp, Yachi giggled at him. "You're actually eating," she pointed out.
Tsukishima directed his eyes elsewhere. After the Shiratorizawa match, he had worked up a large appetite, which was absent on a normal day. He took another bite from the shrimp but didn't bother to eat the meat in its tail. His hands were still taped up.
"Umm...," she said while scratching her cheek. "Do you want me to help you with that?" Tsukishima prompted her to go ahead. As she peeled off the skin, she nervously peeked at Tsukishima every so often, as if she wanted to say something. "Y-You were really cool," she finally said after giving him the meat.
Tsukishima felt his cheeks heat up. He remembered feeling proud of his brother when Yamaguchi thought Akiteru was cool. He knew that Yamaguchi looked up to him as well. But it was embarrassing to hear it straight from Yachi. With cheeks still red, he muttered a thanks in reply.
"Nishinoya was cool too!" Yachi continued. "And Sugawara too! And I can't believe Hinata jumped into the net!" she laughed. Oh. So it wasn’t just him. But perhaps he should have expected that.
"Yachi," Kiyoko called out to her from across the table. "Could you help me get Tanaka's bowl?"
"Okay!" she replied, leaving her seat.
Tsukishima scowled, fully aware of the empty spot to his right. He continued to eat, biting a bit too firmly on his food. "Tch,” he clicked his tongue, getting frustrated at the strange feeling in his stomach.
*****
"Here," Yachi handed the booklets to the team’s two new managers. "Hopefully, this will help you get oriented," she explained. "I already went over most of the information with you, but I made these in case you missed something or wanted something as reference."
The two first years gawked at the booklet. It was filled with information like names of the members of the team, the volleyball rules specific for the Japanese high school league, and the year's schedule. But that wasn't all. It was laid out with detailed attention to typography and graphics and it was pleasing to look at.
"Are you a professional graphics designer?" one of the managers asked.
Yachi rubbed the back of her head with a timid smile. "I would like to be one," she replied.
The two ran off, after receiving instructions from her. Tsukishima commented, "You're going to be busy with those two this year."
"I don't mind being busy with something like this," Yachi smiled. "I'm glad more people are interested in our volleyball team. Remember when I made that fundraising poster in first year?" Tsukishima recalled it clearly. "I don't even have to do that anymore. I'm glad that I joined the team and I got to see everyone grow."
Tsukishima noted the gentle smile on her face. "I'm glad we both joined," he mumbled to himself.
"What was that?" Yachi asked.
"Nothing," he calmly replied. "Why are you talking like we're not playing anymore? We still have the rest of the year."
"Ah! That's right!" Yachi exclaimed, covering her mouth.
Tsukishima smirked at her reaction. Although, he said otherwise, they really did only have a year of high school left. Staring at the top of Yachi's blonde hair, bundled to the side, he sighed, not wanting things to change.
*****
Hinata: Happy New Year!! Please take care of us this year too!!!!!!!
Yamaguchi and Yachi laughed their heads off while Tsukishima covered a chuckle. Hinata sent them a picture of him and Oikawa making a Kagamimochi out of sand. But it literally looked like crap.
“It looks so wrong when you make that with sand!!” exclaimed Yamaguchi.
“That sitting - wait, squatting pose there isn’t doing them any favours either…!” said Yachi.
“They look so proud of their creation. It’s making me mad,” Tsukishima said, somehow still annoyed by them.
It was already New Years Day when they got the text. Yachi came over to Tsukishima and Yamaguchi’s dorm to visit for the first time in a while. After high school, Tsukishima and Yamaguchi went to Tohoku University while Yachi went to Miyagi University. Although they all lived in the same area, they didn’t see her very often. It was expected, but Tsukishima thought it was nice to see his high school friend again, not that he’d admit it.
“I guess I should go home now,” Yachi said as she stood up from the futon. “This was fun,” she smiled at them. Tsukishima walked her to the door as Yamaguchi started to clean up. “I’m going to miss you two.”
Tsukishima smirked at her. “Well…,” he started, “you could see us more often if you dated me.”
He heard a chopstick fall on the floor. Yamaguchi went stiff. Yachi blinked at Tsukishima, likely wondering if he was serious. “Tsukki, you shouldn’t joke about that,” she laughed. With her coat already on, she opened the door. “I’ll see you two next time,” she grinned.
Right after the door closed, Yamaguchi accidentally let out a snort. Tsukishima immediately glared at him. “I can’t believe you just did that,” Yamaguchi decided to let out his laugh anyway. Tsukishima rolled his eyes and sighed. It was worth a shot, he guessed.
*****
Tsukishima saw Yamaguchi at the other side of the stadium waving him down. He grimaced, clearly recalling that he told them not to come and watch him play for the Sendai Frogs. Both Yamaguchi and Yachi insisted but, trying to deter them, he didn't bother to say when and where his game was. Of course, they found out anyway. To be honest, he didn't want them to come because he knew they would just embarrass him.
“Yamaguchi! Yachi!” yelled out Koganegawa with a large wave. When they got there, Kyoutani greeted them with a nod.
Tsukishima was right. He blushed, knowing they shouldn’t have come. Not when Yachi was wearing a Sendai Frogs jersey with his name on it. He groaned with a strong inkling that Yamaguchi probably talked her into wearing it.
He thought his crushing years were over. But after some food and dessert a couple hours post game, he still found himself averting his gaze from Yachi. Even Kyoutani raised his eyebrow, noticing Tsukishima’s behaviour.
And somehow after their evening drew to a close, Tsukishima found himself carrying Yachi home in his arms. With her head tucked in his shoulder and arms wrapped around his neck, he reluctantly decided to cherish this moment as long as it would last.
He stopped walking to shift her weight to a more comfortable position. "Are you sure you're okay?" asked Yachi.
"Yeah, we're almost there," he replied, wishing what he said wasn't true. "Next time, don't wear heels," he lied.
"Alright."
Yachi hugged him a bit tighter, Tsukishima realizing just how cold the air had gotten. He sighed, deciding he'd have to walk a little faster for her sake.
*****
Tsukishima never expected this to happen. His manager walked Yachi through the Sendai City Museum and later introduced her to Tsukishima and his co-workers.
“Hi Tsukishima!” Yachi said with a bright grin.
“You two know each other?”
“Yeah! Since our first year of high school!”
Since first year… It had been that long. But here she was in front of him, with an opportunity to work together again.
Yachi was hired on contract from her mom’s design firm. Over the next few months, he worked with her to put together pamphlets and posters for the museum. She didn’t need much help from him. The company gave her quite a few resources for her to use. But he took the opportunity to sit and work beside her, saying that it would be much easier for her to ask for help that way.
As time went on, it seemed like they got even closer than they were in high school. Tsukishima would tease her whenever she started to overthink about her work, noting that some things didn’t change. But she would give him a jab right back at him, telling him to get back to work.
But there were times when Tsukishima would see glimpses of hope - glimpses that Yachi was actually interested in him. Normally, he would pick up on people’s emotions easily, nut because he had been pining for so long, he doubted his judgement, knowing it could be clouded by his feelings.
One day, Yachi suddenly started crying. “It’s nothing,” she told him. “Just forget about it.” But he hugged her and told her she could share with him if she wanted.
At first she mumbled her response. When Tsukishima asked again, she clearly replied this time. “I’ll miss you.”
It was the end of her contract. He wasn’t looking forward to this either. But from the way she was crying, he wondered if perhaps she did have feelings for him.
Tsukishima began to analyse back to the past months, looking for clues he might have missed. There were days where she placed her hand over his during his rough days. Another day she placed a hand on his cheek when he was distraught over the results of his work. She would also hug him whenever she thanked him for his help.
At first, he thought close friends would do that too. But as she sniffed, trying to hold back her tears, he wondered if he was special.
“Yachi,” Tsukishima asked, “can I test something?”
“What do you mean?” she replied, wiping her tears away with her sleeve, trying not to touch her mascara.
“Just push me away if you don’t like it.”
Yachi blinked a few times, not knowing what to do, but she shyly nodded afterwards.
Tsukishima drew his face close to hers, tentatively stopping a couple inches in front of her. Yachi’s eyes grew but after a moment between them, they fluttered shut.
Tsukishima, on the other hand, took a step back to just stare at her. She actually liked him. Yachi caught him wide-eyed, covering his mouth. “What was that?” Yachi said as she pounded his chest with her fist.”
“I-”
“That was so embarrassing!” Yachi exclaimed as she hid her face in her hands. “Why would you do that?”
Tsukishima groaned, not wanting to have to explain why he was being so… stupid. “Well, I’ve liked you for so long that I… was surprised.”
“What???” Yachi freaked out. It seemed like she didn’t expect his admission either. “Just how long?”
He mumbled.
“What?”
“Since first year.”
Yachi's eyes grew wide. Of course her reaction was expected. Who would be pining for the same girl for so long?
Tsukishima hid his face, embarrassed from admitting his feelings.
“So… aren’t you going to kiss me?” Yachi shyly asked after calming down a bit.
“Mmm… maybe a bit later,” he said to tease, but a blush still covered his cheeks and still looking elsewhere.
“What?”
“You can wait, right?”
“Ugh Tsukki!!!”
“Kei.”
“What?”
“You can call me that instead.”
Yachi was dumbfounded. With his initial embarrassment gone,Tsukishima started to have fun teasing her, but he noticed a sly smile growing on her face.
“You can wait, right?”
Tsukishima was caught off-guard, then laughed. He couldn’t help but think how cute she was and put an arm around her as they left the museum.
*****
I hope you liked it. I feel like I got lazy in the end. lol.

You did a thesis on RPG VIDEO GAMES????? Wow. Shot me dead by admiration. That’s AMAZING. Hope I’ll be able to peak like that someday.
This sounds so enthuasiastic it almost made me think it was sarcasm at first... It isn't sarcasm, right? LOL 👁
Yeah, I went to an art university and specialized in new technology of arts course, basically a huge mix match of different types of digital art techniques (videomaking, digital / analogic photography, illustration, gRapHic DeSIgn, typography, some coding and other less memorable stuff. We were pretty much free to do our thesis on whatever we wanted provided it had some relevance to one of the subjects we studied during our 3 years, and a professor 'expert' in that subject that would follow us in the thesis. We studied videogame theory and history during our last year and since I love videogames I decided to do my thesis on rpg videogames, from the super early years or the first text-narrated computer adventures, to the first rpgs like neverwinter and baldur's gate, to the very first mmorpgs online like ultima online, and then the modern era with more recent rpg examples, talking about the good and the bad, the shifting of the player's perspective and role in game during the years, and all that good stuff. A big part of my mmo dedicated chapter was about world of warcraft, it's a game that has a huge history and played a huge role in videogame history (and my personal gaming experience as well), so it had its own big spotlight in my thesis. Hence the fact that I researched a lot of documentaries, videos, books, articles, news and stuff about people's opinions and experience with games to write some parts of my thesis. A big part of my thesis was also about the Metal Gear saga, because that summer my friend got me into it and it fucking devoured my life- and it's another game that has such an interesting and relevant history in videogame theory and history, because it did so many new things no one else was doing game-wise and story-wise. And it's also a banger of a game that I love.
Since we were in art school we also had to produce an art project to go along with the written researched thesis, mine was a concept art artbook about a possible personal videogame rpg pitch. Basically I created a story, worldbuilding, and four characters with their design and role in the story, all part of the artbook.
It's old as balls now so It's definitely very outdated art-style wise and generally technically-wise, but it was hella fun to work on (even though stressing as shit, I spent my whole summer inside working on this stuff) and my first approach to concept art for videogames, so it definitely has a nostalgic factor to it too as well. It's crazy to look back at it and see how much I've grown as a person and artist.
I managed to find some photos of the thesis and art project if you're interested:

Art book project:

And oh, unrelated, but I also did a small thesis on synthetic life in mass effect for an other class. I was very proud of this also because my professor at the time was super open minded and interested in my research.
Tumblr media
So yeah. Sorry for the huge info/ photo dump but apparently when I'm reminded of things I like, I go WILD and talk a lot. And also damn, I forgot the photos I took of my thesis were so stylish... so yeah! Why not share them here!

"And I was catching my breath
Barefoot in the wildest winter
Catching my death"
Hoping you like this prompt!!!! All the very BEST 💖💖💖
okay so this one was depressing to write but in the most fun way possible lol thank you so much!!
@networkthirteen | lyric typography event
It's been seven years, and the day after Christmas still digs a whole in my chest.
I'm in my bed, cuddled up with no company but my own visible breath. The heater is off. If someone were to come into my apartment, they would say it's not wise to turn it off in one of this year's coldest days. But I couldn't care less that it's snowing outside and that I can’t feel my face anymore. I felt this cold the last time I spoke to her, and so I need to feel this cold today too. Maybe I am just a masochist, but it doesn't make things easier that almost our entire winter together is caught on camera.
She and I grew up together. I knew her like no one else and she was the only one who knew how to make me laugh for hours on end. Yet, when she inevitably moved out and left our small town, she got lost in a sea of Instagram profiles. She became one of those influencers with a Youtube Vlogging Channel, and eventually, we didn't know each other anymore. Not because she changed or became a different person, but we simply didn't keep in touch. What were we going to talk about? Me trying to turn the piece of trash on my garage into a decent pick-up truck had nothing to do with how many free clothes and make up she would get from brands.
But out of no where, on the first stow of that damned year, she came back. I remember I had long unfollowed her, and so it took me a second glance to recognize her in the store that day. I had forgotten those bright blue eyes, her skin smooth like porcelain. Her messy braid somehow looked intentional. She wore fancier clothes, but her body looked like it had been both crafted and consumed by excessive exercise and too many diets. Still, her smile was genuine and captivating as ever. I just had to say hi.
We spent the next few days going to every cool spot in town, and revisiting all of our childhood hiding spots. I drove her out of town into the woods so we could climb that one old oak tree, we ordered pizza not to eat it but to use the boxes as sleds and the grand finale: rearranging Mrs. McCanne's Christmas decorations so that Santa was fucking one of the reindeer. Everything was recorded and later edited into many videos. She was nearly obsessed with catching every bit of fun and beauty, and editing the same day so she could post it. I understand now, of course, but who could have imagined she was saying goodbye? Even now, after watching all of the videos from those days -- and having the arrangements of the letters on her channel name ingrained in my head -- I can't pick up on any signs. She spent little more than a weekend in town, but I can’t shake the feeling that I should have known. If not on the days we spent together, at least in the way we said goodbye.
"I don’t know if I ever said this, but I always loved you." She said on that last morning, the first and only one where I woke up next to her.
We both knew it wouldn't last, she was going away and I was staying.
She had insisted I didn't drive her to the airport, so I just walked her to my door in an old t-shirt. I didn't even put my shoes on. I remember my bare feet were on the snow but I didn't care because she kissed me and everything was alright.
"I think I always will..." She whispered.
“Until my last day.” I finished her thought. She had said that phrase in the night, when she thought I was asleep.
Her only response was a small smile, her eyes filled with unshed tears just like mine. And then she was gone.
As I get out of bed, wearing the same t-shirt I wore all those years ago, and walk to the door. That last conversation plays over and over in my head. I open the door and breathe in the freezing cold air of a wild winter. This time, though, my feet do hurt when I step on the snow. My mouth opens but the words don't come out. I try every year, but I just can't say them again. They didn't hold the weight they do now. Those are the last words I will ever say to her, and they are most likely the last words she ever heard.

Rules: It’s time to love yourselves! Choose your 5 favorite works you created in the past year (fics, art, edits, etc.) and link them below to reflect on the amazing things you brought into the world in 2019. Tag as many writers/artists/etc. as you want (fan or original) so we can spread the love and link each other to awesome works!
tagged by the wonderful @bledenmarks thank you!! 💕
there wasn’t many gifs/edits in 2019 i actually liked so there’s gonna be some drawings and writing i did last year thrown into the mix (though everything is destiny haha)
1. The Vex Offensive - Aperture (gifset) - this set means a lot to me...  first time i sharpened gifs and spent hours messing with adjustment layers. this gifset is a good startpoint of when i started making content more seriously and consistently. sentimental feelings aside, it’s one of my fave colorings and the scenery for the vex offensive was gorgeous
2. LGBT Destiny Month: Petra Venj (edit) - the first time i tried playing around with typography and fonts, it was probably the most fun i’ve ever had working on something. despite being very new/unfamiliar with doing edits like this, i'm still happy with the overall result
3. dredgen!vik (drawing) - nothing really to say except it’s the least bad of the seven corvik drawings i did last year lol. also put the most time/effort into this piece in particular
4. you’re in pain (writing) - god i wrote 27 fics in 2019 and 21 of them were smut one of the few angsty fics i wrote, it focused on how cayde’s death really put a strain on corvik’s relationship with sarina, ghost and his overall stability. it was great character development to actually explore his emotions and see strong contrast from the usual upbeat confident attitude
5. European Aerial Zone (gifset) - i ended up with so many different versions for this, but i wanted to try a coloring where the colors are more muted with less contrast. still wish i did some things differently but alas, it’s a nice memento from the solstice event and the coloring turned out how i wanted it
i tag @cryptorat + @tictoclullaby + @ae0n + @felwinter + @tevintery + @halseyim and anyone else who’s interested!

RESOURCEANIME’S: MAGAZINE GRAPHIC TUTORIAL
Hi guys! I’ve had a lot of fun making these magazine covers (and inside features) so I thought it would be cool to do a lil tutorial on the whole process. I will be going into detail for all the steps to create both the covers and the inside features, as well as giving helpful tips and ideas such as font suggestions.
Difficulty: Easy/Medium (depends on complexity)
Likes/Reblogs appreciated if you found this helpful!
First let’s do the main magazine cover. I will go over the inside features afterward.
I will be using this edit as an example for this tutorial.
Tumblr media
Step 1: Creating the Base Cover
Going by Tumblr sizes, I’ve done all my covers at 540px x 750px (or 800px - this is the maximum length you can do). Select File >> New and create your canvas at the sizes suggested. Go ahead and fill it with a background colour of your choice.
💡Tip: I used colour palettes to help me create my covers so that they all have some variation of colours that will look good together in text while also complimenting the cover itself. Try to choose at least one light colour and one dark colour for contrast. This will help you later on when you write headliners on the cover.
For the Iwaizumi cover, I simply used the box tool to create a box and filled it in with the light purple colour that you see. This allows a white border around the edges of the cover.
Tumblr media
Step 2: Name the Magazine
Generally, you see the title on the top more often than not, but please feel free to put that title wherever you see fit. The thing with these covers is that you have a lot of freedom on how you place things, the main thing to be cautious about is readability and style.
I believe that the magazine title is one of the focal points of the cover itself. Graphic viewers should be able to decipher that this is a magazine cover edit immediately when they see it - that’s kind of the whole point. So, font choice for the title is pretty important.
💡Tip: use fonts that are easy to read - doesn’t need to be plain, but it does have to be simple in my opinion.
💡Tip: Avoid using Script fonts as they are harder to read. As mentioned before, the title is a focal point.
💡Tip: Be wary of Decorative types of fonts. If you can find one that is not hard to read, then by all means use it!
👍Font Recommendations for Magazine Titles:
Croco
Ginebra
Muara
Groce
Almonte
Salvalyn
Aliens & Cows
Bohem Press (used for the Reigen cover shown above)
Ranger (not free, used for the Iwaizumi cover shown above)
Now I have something small that is written as a subtitle below the actual title like “monthly” or “magazine”. This is totally optional! If you do end up using it:
💡Tip: I recommend you use a different font just to add some variation. For example, if you used a thick, bolded font, try contrasting it with a thin font. Script fonts would definitely work here if you so choose to use one.
💡Tip: If you’d rather use the same font - which is totally ok - try changing the colour of the subtitle or play around with italicizing/underlining it, etc.
💡Tip: As for what the subtitle should be....maybe showing what kind of magazine it is. I was being simple and used just “magazine” for the Reigen one, but I used “monthly” for the Iwaizumi. You could try weekly, daily, or even point out the city which the character is from (i.e. Vogue: India)
Tumblr media
Step 3: Add Render of Character
I will not be showing how to render a character for this tutorial, but please feel free to refer to Step 1 of this Graphic Tutorial to see! Essentially, please be sure to have a render that is somewhat large in size. You want the character to take up as much of the space on the cover as possible. You don’t have to feel like they gotta be in the middle, arrange them however you please! But, they are the focal point of the cover itself, so be sure to have them cover the space as much as possible.
Tumblr media
And at this stage I will be adding a psd colouring to Iwaizumi.
Tumblr media
Step 4: Add a Background (optional)
I like being Extra with my edits so I usually add something in the background, whether it be a png or a pattern. This is totally optional, if you’re not into filling up spaces as much then by all means skip the step!
For the example cover, I put some floral pngs behind Iwaizumi to add more to the empty space in the background.
Tumblr media
I also added a psd colouring to it so that the flowers adhere to the kind of colours I was using.
Tumblr media
Step 5: Headliners and Features
This is the part where you will showcase exactly who is being featured and what are some of the contents you will be reading about inside the magazine. This is also the part where you get to play with fonts a lot! Again, readability is key, but you have lots of ways you can work around it.
Here is what I came up with at the end:
Tumblr media
This anime was about volleyball so I centered a lot of content around working out and training. At this stage I can only really give tips as this is something you will have to experiment with, but I hope these help!
For Headliners & Subheadings:
💡Tip: I used about 4-5 fonts for the headlines/subheading. I recommend that you do the same thing, but just vary the format/arrangement. For example, I used the same font for “Trying to Get Scouted?” headline and “by Iwaizumi Hajime” subheading. They’re both the same font, but they’re in different sizes, different colours, one is a title while the other is subheading.
💡Tip: Use smaller/thinner font for the descriptions as they are not as important as the headlines. For headlines, use eye-catching stuff - bold, contrasting, even use script if you have to.
💡Tip: As shown in my example, I think varying the colours also helps.
💡Tip: As for the actual content, as I mentioned before, go with a theme like I did since my character plays volleyball. But don’t feel like you can only have lines that need to hook! You can always make like a little sticker that says “poster inside!” or write a quote from the character.
👍Font Recommendations for Headlines & Subheadings:
Krinkes
Coyote
Black Jack
Elephant (see: “workout, not burnout” on Iwaizumi cover)
Alien League (see: all thin subheadings on Iwaizumi cover)
Almyra (see: “Naturally Handsome” on Iwaizumi cover)
Ever After (see: all subheadings on Reigen cover)
For Features & Names:
💡Tip: This is another focal point of the cover, so be sure to make it BIG, make it bold, and make it P O P.
💡Tip: I tend to use script fonts for this because making the size bigger helps with readability so it seems appropriate. Don’t feel obligated to use script here tho!
👍Font Recommendations for Features & Names:
Bebas
Lactosa
Balqis
Sant’Elia
Valairya (see: “Iwaizumi Hajime” name)
Roadway (see: “featuring seijou’s ace” on Iwaizumi cover)
Jovanka (see: “Reigen Arataka” name)
Step 6: Create Base for Inside Cover
For the inside cover, I find that this can literally be anything. I’ve normally just stuck a quote in there but be as creative as you like! Go to File >> New at the same size as your cover. I would honestly just duplicate your background (and border if you had one) from the cover onto this new file. Starting back here again:
Tumblr media
Step 7: Add Render of Character
Just like before, try to make sure that the character takes up as much space as possible. Place them where you like and add a psd colouring to them!
Tumblr media
Step 8: Add a Background (again, optional)
So again, I like filling up the spaces so I added another floral png in the background with a psd colouring. This is optional!
Tumblr media
Step 9: Adding Content
Now this part is more so dependent on how you want to do things. I like filling up spaces and playing around with typography, so that’s basically what I did here. I used two character quotes and formatted them in such a way that they take up a lot of the space.
Tumblr media
Again, this all depends on the theme and style you’re going for. I can’t really help you at this stage as this is more so about how you would like to go about it, but I am happy to give some tips:
💡Tip: I would recommend trying to fill up the space as much as possible again. Maybe make a section that actually has an “article” or do a photo collage of the character, or even just a quote, whatever works!
💡Tip: Try using eye-catching headlines and have subheadings just like before on the cover.
💡Tip: Use varying colours and fonts again! Keep things consistent by using the same 4-5 fonts and colours, but try playing around with the arrangement and formatting of them just like we discussed earlier for the cover.
Step 10: Save!!
And you’re done! Nice work!!
Final Thoughts
So, I think the main takeaway from this is that you’ve got a lot of room to be creative, but you end up having to play around and experiment a lot in order to make things work. The best tip I can give you is to prioritize readability over aesthetics (even I am guilty of trying to choose aesthetics over readability lol).
Hope you guys found this helpful!!
