skfkvkgkhkhkh i just pitched my dm a character for her next campaign and she had to break it to me that my character's ideals and goals line up identically to the bbeg and we'd have to work a direct conflict between them into my backstory otherwise im likely to betray the party and join the villains. Again

also this is spoilers but i saw this on reddit and now i must scream about it sooooo spoilers for the end of wyll's romance maybe idk
okay tbh i cant confirm if this is true cuz i havent even beaten the game yet HA but people wouldnt lie on the internet right.... but anyways i saw that someone said one of wyll's romance endings is that he becomes a duke and you guys get MARRIED omg... and it has been on my mind all day and now im having very intense aza/wyll thoughts but mostly aza though aha
listen. just. just listen. okay. picturing aza going from a painfully awkward and socially inept crypt keeper living underground among the dwarves and the deceased, to the wife of the charismatic, renowned grand duke of baldur's gate, UGH. learning to socialize properly with nobility, learning how to maintain small talk, adjusting to the sheer size of their estate, free of cold drafts and water leaks. and the SUNLIGHT? the way it shines through the windows every morning, to remind her another day has come? and how much more comfortable the beds are when they're made of fur and feathers, not stone. and the way she's obviously very out of place, especially as a tiefling living among the upper echelon of baldur's gate, i'm sure she sticks out like a sore thumb. i'm sure she's turned lots of heads while incessantly infodumping about the best way to preserve a dead body, not yet understanding that nobility often aren't fixated on such things the same way she is lol. she's still a little weird and unsettling and unsure of how to handle herself in such a new environment, but hey... it's a lot more fun learning the nuance of courtly dance than it is trying to get a wriggly tadpole out of your head! she'll take the fright of social anxiety over that any day.
anyways. dies

A Little Crush
Tumblr media
Eddie Munson x Henderson!Reader
Part 1
Summary: In which Eddie develops a crush on the Henderson sister.
You weren't sure exactly when your life had gone to absolute shit. Was it when you found a strange, superpowered adolescent girl living in Mike Wheeler's basement? Was it when you walked in on a baby demogorgan eating your cat? Or was it when you were drugged by evil Russians operating under Starcourt Mall? You couldn't even remember a time when life was normal. If someone had told you that you would become best friends with Steve 'The Hair' Harrington and fight literal monsters from an alternate universe alongside Nancy Wheeler and Jonathan 'The Creep' Byers a few years ago, you would've laughed in their face. Now? You'd survived the most traumatising events of your life alongside these people. You were bonded for life.
The last few years had also made you closer with Dustin. You loved your baby brother and his weird friends, especially since you'd spent so much time babysitting them. But no amount of love could make you say yes to what they were asking of you.
"Please?" Dustin begged, following you down the hallway as you made your way to Ms. O'Connell's class.
"No! I have, like, three essays due this week, Dustin. I don't have the time to sub." You respond.
"It's only for tonight! Lucas can't make it and we really need a sub. We're nearly done with the campaign and Eddie will kill us if we make him reschedule!" Dustin pleads.
You were really happy that Dustin and Mike had found a safe space in high school. Lord knows those two idiots needed it. Freshmen year is probably the toughest of them all. You're new, scared, and lonely. You were really glad that they'd found friends, a place where they could be their nerdy selves and feel accepted. Hell, even you'd dabbled in their interests when you'd babysat them. DnD wasn't half bad, and not nearly as hard to undertand as you once thought. You'd spent many nights in Mike's basement playing with them. The first few times, you'd get your character killed in the first fifteen minutes. But after a while, you started making progress (even though you're convinced that the party was exceptionally lenient with you after you once burst into tears over getting killed off).
"I'll do your half of the chores for a week!" Dustin exclaims.
That makes you stop.
"A week?" You turn around to look at him, "Make it two weeks and I'll sub."
"Two? Are you insane!?" Dustin yells, making a few people lingering in the hallway turn and look at you both.
"Two or no deal, Dusty Buns," You tease, "And be quick, I'm late for my class."
"Fine!" Dustin says, "And stop calling me 'Dusty Buns'"
"Why? Is that nickname just for Suzy Poo?" You tease.
Dustin glowers at you as you walk off.
♡♡♡
"So, who's the DM?" You ask as you walk alongside Dustin and Mike.
"It's Eddie, Eddie Munson. He's a senior. Long hair, wears a hellfire T-Shirt, I talk about him constantly. God, do you ever listen to me?" Dustin claims exasperatedly.
"Oh! Eddie as in your new favorite older male best friend who Steve's weirdly jealous of?" You ask, "I've seen him around. Is he the one who jumps on lunch tables and yells a lot?"
"Yup." Mike responded, "He's a bit scary when he's revved up. Just warning you beforehand in case he comes off...a bit intimidating."
You nod.
"Hasn't he been held back, like, three times?" You ask.
Before either of the boys could answer, you reach the room. The first thing you see is the table where the game is set. There are three boys sat around, all with Hellfire T-Shirts on. Your eyes fleet from one to the other until finally landing on Eddie. You recognise him immediately from the amount of times you've seen him yelling in the cafeteria.
Dustin and Mike failed to mention how cute he was, you think.
His hair was long and wavy. He was wearing multiple rings. And he was covered in tattoos. You're pretty sure you saw a few bats peeking from under his sleeve.
"Who's this?" One of the guys asks, making all three turn around and look at you.
"This is Y/N! She's subbing for Lucas!" Mike says, the words spilling out fast and nervously.
Why the hell are they so jittery?
"Yeah, she's my sister! The one I mentioned a couple days ago." Dustin adds.
"Does she even know how to play DnD?" The other boy asks.
"Okay, excuse me, I wouldn't have come if I didn't know how to play," You finally speak, waving your hand a little to get their attention.
"So, this is your infamous sister?" Eddie finally speaks, his eyes landing on you, "You know, I thought he made you up. What's your class and level? Level One Elf?"
Elf? Is he mocking me?
"Are you mocking me?" You ask incredously.
"Is he mocking me?" you turn towards Dustin and Mike who immediately start gesticulating, probably asking you to shut up.
"My name is Aeren Sirenfall and I'm a level 14 chaotic good half-elf rogue. I will sneak behind any monster you throw my way and stab them in the back with my poison-soaked kukri. And I'll smile as I watch them die a slow...agonising...death." You say, your voice slow and hard as you glare at Eddie, "So, are we gonna play this stupid game or not?"
You're pretty sure you hear one of the boys mutter a 'she's terrifying' to Dustin.
You watch as Eddie's eyes slowly soften and a grin emerges on his face, "Welcome to Hellfire Club."

people who think will byers hates himself for being gay when will byers is one of the very few characters on the show that has refused to change himself to fit anyone else's idea of what he should be despite the fact that people, including his own father, have been harassing, bullying, and abusing him for it literally his entire fucking life are just...... so weird.
will's entire POINT is that he will survive and brave whatever you throw his way against all odds and come out on the other side of it still clutching on to his sense of self and hope that tomorrow will be a better day. the entire point of his character is that he loves what he loves without apology or shame.
he sings "that weird song he loves" in the middle of hell because it reminds him of his brother and offers him comfort in a place where there is none. he creates art because he loves it and doesn't care if it isn't something boys do, then he gifts it to his friends because he loves them and wants them to know it, too. he loves dnd and writes campaigns and dresses up for them because they bring him joy and he just wants to spend time with his friends even if they think they're "too cool" for it now.
he knows that sometimes it's harder than it should be to be gay in a homophobic society and has been harassed for that literally his entire fucking life it's LITERALLY how they introduce him to us not even twenty minutes into this fucking show and YET !!!!!!! he doesn't back away from that. ever.
he gets picked on for his clothes, but he doesn't change them. he gets called names, but he doesn't make any attempt to conform. his best friend, the boy that he's in love with and his very first friend ever, tells him it isn't his fault that he doesn't like girls and shamefully asks him if he really thought they were going to play games together in his basement for the rest of their lives and never get girlfriends, and what does will do?
he says yeah. i guess i did. i really did.
will faces all of that and goes to a new place where he has the golden opportunity of a clean slate, and what does he do? when assigned to do a presentation on his hero... he picks alan turing of all people. and when his brother later on tells him that he loves him no matter what, essentially giving him the It's Okay To Be Gay I Love You So Much And Always Will talk, still there is no denial on will's part here either.
will has NEVER, EVER denied being gay. he has NEVER tried to change that part of himself. he has ALWAYS stood tall and braved another day even when it was scary and hard. he has ALWAYS remained true to himself even though that has only ever made his life that much harder.
he said that sometimes he feels like a mistake for being so different from other people, but that being loved and accepted makes him feel like he isn't one at all and like he's better for being different and that gives him the courage to fight on.
literally what the fuck are you guys on about when you talk about will being self-hating for being gay. where is the canonical evidence for that? and more than that, why are you so keen on throwing away all of his acts of bravery and the sheer fucking strength of character that he's had since the very beginning? it would've been so much easier for him to conform, to be the "man" that everyone has always pushed him to be, but he doesn't ever do that. he stays true to himself no matter what. so, again, where the hell are these self-hating receipts?!

WIBTA for leaving a DND campaign abruptly?
Some backstory: I had joined a DND game about 5 years ago right after breaking up with my toxic ex at the time. Me and my ex were both trying to be cordial at this time and ended up both joining a DND game run by a mutual friend.
In our first session, I had noticed my ex made her character be a parody of me that she made look like an awful person. She then kept dm-ing me during our sessions to tell me how to play my character better and other general backseat gaming stuff.
Very quickly, maybe about a month in, I contacted the DM about leaving the campaign due to wanting to distance myself from my ex. She was very upset I wanted to leave and offered to kick my ex from the group instead. I declined saying it would only cause more drama. The DM agreed to let my character go off at the end of the activity we were gonna do that session so it would make sense story-wise.
But this departure did not happen. after that conversation she vague-posted onling about how people dont want to be her friend. She then purposefully kept extending this part of the plot, just so I wouldnt leave the game and could realize it could still be fun. I told her outright I could not do this anymore after 3 more additional sessions and telling me she'll get to my character's exit soon. I always felt like an ass to the other players in the game for leaving them abruptly but I could not do it anymore.
Fast forward roughly 4 years, the DM tells me she is going to make a new campaign and would like for me to join since my ex was no longer in it. I agreed as I had missed playing DND a lot.
For the past year or so I have been in this campaign and it can be fun at times but I still feel out of place. This new session is a direct continuation of the previous campaign's storyline and regularly references it. Now, as far as I know my ex's character has not been referenced at all but I am constantly reminded of this situation whenever they mention a character's name I don't remember (because honestly I don't remember her characters name nor do I want to). I know I said to not bring her up around me but I don't quite trust this friend to keep her word. Simply because I don't think she ever remembers anything I tell her out of a place of... just not caring.
The DM and I just don't quite mesh that well. I don't really like her DM-ing style of making it up as the session happens. I don't like that she will constantly decide what my character is doing, even if I ask to do something, she tells me to roll to see if i can, i can get a nat20 and she will still decide what my character will do next based on what she thinks is funnier to her but makes my next action harder to accomplish.
I have dm'd her to talk about the progression of my character arc (after she constantly implys in session my character is the comedic relief and doesnt have any character development) and she'll go ooo and aaa (literally all she would say) but never actually implement anything I recommend.
I kept saying to myself it will get better in time. I have voiced my wants for my character, and they are ignored. In session, my character actions are essentially decided for me no matter how I roll the dice. It feels weird to be around half of the party bc they spent 4 years in a campaign with my ex who played a parody of me. esp hard after the DM keeps making me be the comedic relief even though I keep trying to play more seriously. other players constantly joke about how my character is gonna be the one that gets them all killed etc because of actions I dont necessarily decide.
Now as mentioned before, DM is also known to vague-blog about how "her friends secretly hate her" at any moment as well. This has happened before after I tried to "real talk" with her a handful of times over unrelated topics too (even if she initiates this conversation)
Given everything above, I want to leave this DND game after giving it a try for a year (really giving it an opportunity to improve). We left off with my character running off alone to get supplies for the party. I was thinking I could make a statement saying I had some personal things come up and I need to leave the game abruptly and leave it to the DM to decide what to do with my character.
Now I feel like I may be the AH because: I am leaving the game abruptly for a second time technically. I would contact the DM on how to make it make sense for my character to depart, but I feel like she will do the same thing as before with the previous campaign and keep putting it off, especially after ignoring my character growth ideas for a year in this current campaign. I also feel like I may be the AH because in character my group does need those supplies, but there is nothing stopping the DM from controlling my character to deliver supplies within the first 5 minutes of the next session.

inspired by the prompt Love is being able to say you’re sorry and mean it by @eyesofshinigami for @steddielovemonth day 23
sorry, not sorry
wc: 1688 | rated: t | tags: Robin Buckley is fed up with her idiot friends, Steve Harrington and Eddie Munson are oblivious and they’re bad at feelings, Love Confessions, Idiots to Lovers
„Why should I say sorry when he is the one acting weird. I didn’t do anything! It’s not my fault he doesn’t like me.” Steve looks at her, lips forming a bitchy pout, acting annoyed at her for bringing it up – like he really believes his own words and Robin is the one who just doesn’t get it.
Robin rolls her eyes.
God, she wants to strangle him sometimes. And Eddie, too. They are both so stupid, acting like they don’t like each other when everyone and their mother can see the longing looks they throw at each other whenever they are in the same room.
It’s been driving her mad.
They’ve been dancing around each other for weeks now, putting up fronts, acting like they just barely tolerate each other’s presence. Like they are forced to get along because of their mutual friends.
It’s bullshit. Sure, these two would’ve never met if it wasn’t for the little shitheads they both took under their wings (or maybe Dustin and his friends are actually the ones that took Eddie and Steve under theirs because the teens are clearly a lot more mature than these two idiots) but now that their worlds have collided, it’s so obvious that there is a connection between them neither wants to admit to.
“You could’ve at least asked him to come?”
“Robs, he didn’t even look at me when he came in earlier. What makes you think he wants to come to my place when he made it clear that he hates everything about the idea of spending time there?”
Steve is having a party on Saturday, invited everyone over, except for Eddie. Not because he purposely meant to exclude him but because Eddie’s been teasing him about it all week. Whenever Steve mentioned his plans, Eddie made a silly comment about how lame it sounds. ‘Bet the music will be all pop and no taste.’ – ‘Just beer? Come on, Harrington, grow up.’ – ‘Oh, a sleepover? Great! Are we gonna do pillow fights and face masks and all that fancy shit, too?’
Yeah, maybe Steve has a point. Eddie really didn’t make it seem like he wanted to be part of it. And it’s not really Steve’s fault for not understanding that Eddie is doing that out of self-protecting reasons. That he’d rather pretend to hate the idea of spending the night at Steve’s than having to live with the rejection of Steve not wanting him there in the first place. Steve is oblivious.
And obviously, Eddie is too.
And okay, Steve hasn’t exactly been showing Eddie that he cares for him either. Always pretends to be annoyed at him. Always bitching about the stupidest and most inane things like – ‘Yeah how about you grow up Mr Dungeon Master?! Aren’t you a little too old to keep playing games with teens?’ – ‘Jesus, Eddie, you know there’s a thing called hair brush one can use to tame that frizzy mop on your head?’ – ‘No thank you, I don’t want to be driving around in your van. That thing looks like it’s gonna fall apart any second.’
They’re constantly bickering and bantering, always so quick to be at each other’s throats. That is, until they think that no one is looking.
Because Steve actually loves to listen to Eddie talk when he’s leading the teens through a campaign, uses all these various voices to interpret the different characters he created.
And Robin just knows Steve’s finger itch to take care of Eddie’s unruly curls himself but he would never offer, would never say it out loud.
Robin can see the way Eddie’s gaze follows Steve around Family Video when he’s talking to her while Steve is attending to another customer – a sickly sweet smile on his lips, with eyes that are basically heart-shaped.
The way he blushes whenever Steve walks around shirtless and in his stupid, tiny shorts (ugh, men), tries and fails so hard every time not to stare with his mouth hanging open.
It’s like they’re both so desperately trying to convince themselves that they hate each other, when all of their stolen glances and hidden smiles keep giving them away.
“You know how stubborn he is. I am pretty sure he would’ve said yes. But you didn’t ask and maybe now he thinks you don’t want him there. Did you think about that?”
Steve worries his bottom lip, looks like he’s contemplating what to say.
“He hates me,” is all he offers and the sadness in his eyes breaks Robin’s heart.
-
   “Talk to him, Eddie.”
“Pff, why should I? I’m not that desperate to attend some stupid party. What do you want me to say to him? Hey, sorry for making fun of you, could I maybe still get a pity invite so I don’t have to spend my Saturday alone and miserable while you’re all having a fun time? Yeah, no. Thanks.”
She’s gonna lose it with these two at some point. Robin has been trying. Beating around the bush, talking about that stupid party like it is the real problem just because neither Steve nor Eddie are ready to admit what it is really about.
“What if I want you there. You’re my friend and I want to spend time with you too.”
“I appreciate it, Bucks. I really do. And I love to hang out with you any time. But this is Steve’s party and if he doesn’t want me there, I have to accept it.”
She wants to shake him. Yell at him to drop the act and be fucking for real, just once.
   “Edward Albert Munson.”
The use of his full name has the desired effect of getting his full attention, eyes blown wide and his expression a mix of appalled and impressed.
“Can you, for the love of anything that’s holy, stop pretending to be so above everything and just tell him already?!”
She knows it’s a little unfair to put that burden on Eddie when she could’ve told Steve the same. But she knows that between the two, Eddie will be easier to convince.
“What are you talking about?” Eddie tries, but the blush on his cheeks tells her he knows exactly what she means.
“You know what I’m talking about. I’m sick and tired of watching you guys pining for each other when you could’ve been making out for weeks now if you would just fucking talk.”
“What?!” This time, Eddie seems genuinely stunned.
“You two are perfect for each other. You’re both incredibly stupid and so far up your own asses, that you don’t see what you’re missing out on.”
She crosses her arms before her chest, suppresses the urge to smile triumphantly when she sees Eddie crumble as the realisation hits.
-
Steve is in the kitchen, preparing some snacks and drinks, when the doorbell rings. Everyone is already there, they’re all in the living room having a great time, so Steve thinks it might just be their pizza delivery.
   “Robs, can you get that?”
There’s no answer. Either she doesn’t hear him over the music or, more likely, she ignores him. Steve huffs, drops the bag of chips on the counter and goes to open the door.
He’s fumbling with his wallet, not even looking at the person standing on the bottom of his front steps, when a familiar voice gets his attention.
   “Hey, Steve.”
   “Eddie? What are you-“
Steve’s heart suddenly picks up speed when his eyes drift to Eddie’s lips, a small, shy smile tugging at the corners.
“I wanted to apologize. I’ve been-“
“No problem, man! I gotta say sorry, too. I should’ve just invited you and stop making such a big deal out of it.”
“Not about- okay, yeah that too but- I’m sorry for being a dick. I’m sorry for- for not being honest with you. And I get that this not the best timing but a little bird told me to man up and-“
Steve’s mind is racing. He doesn’t have a clue where Eddie is going with this. Or maybe he does but he doesn’t want to hold up his hopes because surely, Eddie isn’t going to say what he wants him to.
“I’m not sorry for making you feel like I don’t like you because the truth is, I don’t.”
Steve looks down at his own feet, needs a moment to process, a moment to breathe.
    Huh?
“It’s more like, I’m totally gone for you, Steve. I want you in ways that scare me. I’m sorry for making you think I’m not head over heels in love with you and your stupid perfect hair and your annoying kindness and just... everything about you that’s had me losing sleep for weeks now.”
  “Oh.”
“I’m sorry, Eddie,” he says when he looks back up, tries not to sound too excited because he feel like he deserves just a little revenge for the way Eddie phrased his earth shattering confession and nearly gave Steve a heart attack with it.
But then Eddie’s eyes fill with tears and there’s defeat written on his face and-
No, that’s not what Steve wants.
“I’m sorry for not doing this sooner.”
He surges forward, nearly misses a step when he flings himself at Eddie, wraps his arms around the other man’s neck and draws him into a kiss.
The kiss is desperate, full of regret for depriving himself of the wonderful feeling of Eddie’s plush lips on his. Dripping with want, spilling all the words he didn’t say, words he wants Eddie to know, to feel in every part of his body.
I’m sorry for not telling you that I love you.
They are too caught up in the moment; too busy making out to notice Robin standing in the doorway, who came looking for Steve. There’s a huge smile on her face and she knows she’ll regret it because they will be insufferable together. But right now, all she is sorry for is not stepping in sooner.
Because they might be idiots but they’re her idiots and they deserve to be in love.

Ok, today is my birthday I just woke up and thought it would be a good idea to finally ask for the drable of bright eyes that I thought of Eddie having a campaign with the boys and girls and also Y/N but Lua wakes up and see them so she wants to play too so Y/N sits her in their lap and let's her play with her.
I love your work and you are one of my favourite authors 💙💖💙
omg!! happy (late) birthday babe!! hope it was a good one <33 thank you so much for the request and for reading and for being here haha, hope i made it justice <33
bright eyes universe drabble (2.3k)
“What would even be my name?” You tell him, almost in a tired wimp, your head hurting slightly.
“Princess the Bard” He teases back, his head tilting to the right, his hair shaking in that hypnotic matter he knew you liked.
“If everybody keeps calling me princess, you’ll have to come up with a new nickname.” You point back, looking over your shoulder so you can see the way his eyes plead back, while he follows you to the kitchen.
“I can try a few…” He tries once again, he lets his body rest against his kitchen counter, waits for you to place your empty plate down on the sink, the soft ‘clinck’ sound links with his fingers graceing your waist. He grabs you softly, taking his time to first caress that little spot, before one of his fingers finds his way in one of your belt loops, pushing you to him from there. “Just, please? I don’t want you to go yet, and the few ones we’ve played you’ve been amazing…”
With just the way your eyes softened, darkened and then closed he knew he had been successful. He was biting back that stupid grin that made you smile in defeat every time you saw it.
“Ugh… fine…” He had it on his face as soon as you gave in. Maybe out of excitement, maybe because you were hugging him once again.
“C’mon, we’ll set the table then.” He gleamed, you just tried to muffle a laugh against his chest, enjoying the way his arms wrapped around you.
He grabbed your hand, his fingers intertwining with yours, he was the one that had a joyful cheerful aura now, excited that you’d stay longer, even better, playing with him.
He had been talking about you finally joining him for a short, small one-shot campaign ever since he had caught you and Dustin going over the basics of the game. These last few days, though to be honest it had been two weeks, you and him had found a small window of time to be together, and you had spent it building your character, playing a few scenarios, making out before you left and painting. It had been fun, heavenly even, but you told him that it was because it was just the two of you, that you were a bit nervous about actually playing with his friends. He told you that they were just kids, but you made him remember that they were actually teenagers, which is a whole different situation, and that if you were to be their teacher someday, it would be weird. He laughed it off, brushed your hair out of your face and whispered “That’s kinnda hot” You punched him in his chest in a jokingly manner, but he reassured you, as he always did.
You were nervously -perhaps a tint of anxiety on your movements could be seen- playing with the die on your hand. You sat down next to him, even if that spot was usually occupied with Dustin, he agreed to let you there, knowing just how excited Eddie was, and clocking your nervousness.
“You guys ready to play some D&D?” Eddie asked, his hands moviming excitedly through the air.
They all cheered. You looked at them, Mike was gleaming, Will was excitedly nodding, Lucas was drinking some soda, his mouth still smiling, and Dustin looked at you. He mouthed a you’re ready.
That’s all you really needed for now.
Consequently, Lua was having trouble remaining asleep.
She was tossing and turning in her little bed, the quiet voices that left the living room seemed more appealing to her. She knew her dad had some friends over, and that she had to get some sleep, but she wanted to be near to him, and he wasn’t in his bed.
So she did what every kid would have done.
She got up, not minding her knotted hair, or the way her sleeping shirt was a bit too big on her.
She tumbled around her room, opening the door that was left ajar as best as she could, trying to not make a sound. She kept walking following the sound of the warm voices that were gathered around the table. Her eyes finally opened up, and she smiled as soon as she saw you sitting next to her dad.
She reached out, pulling your trousers down so you’d look at her.
“Hi bud, what are you doing up?” You asked her, you reached down, she glowed as soon as he heard your voice, as bright and as soft as ever.
“Can’t sleep.” She muttered, her hand scratching her eye, a little pout on her lips.
You looked up at Eddie, and you saw the way his heart melted, and how he was starting to feel guilty about talking as loud as he had.
“You wanna sit with me?” You asked her, opening your arms so she’ll decide on her own.
You didn’t have to wait long. She threw herself on your arms, waiting for you to pull her up. You placed her down on your lap, your fingers gracing her hair, placing it a bit more neatly. Eddie’s heart was about to burst.
The full table went quiet.
They weren’t used to such an intimate moment of Eddie’s life.
The little scene looked straight from a movie scene, a soft look shared between the both of you, while Lua just melted in your arms a bit more, pushing into you softly.
“Can we continue?” Mike asked, the usual urgency in his voice remained the same.
“Jesus.” Will whispered, the heels of his hands reaching for his forehead.
“What?”
“You really have the emotional range of a teaspoon sometimes, you know?” Lucas added, looking back at his friend, a look in his face that let you know this was something deeper than your little moment.
“Okay, sorry.” Eddie muttered, a little smile to her little girl before he continued. “Your king has just experienced an assassination attempt, the guards have captured some suspects down in the dungeons. Princess, you said you wanted to do something?”
Blood flew straight to her cheeks as soon as the attention was all on you. Lua decided to start playing with your fingers, as if she knew that doing that would help.
“I have seen Sir.Deeptrut on the battleground, right?” Your eyebrows raised as you were talking, a confirmation on Eddie’s face let you know you were right. “And he’s one of the suspects… Could I go down to the dungeons and try to talk to him?”
“You’ll have to make a persuasion check as soon as you get down there, just a heads up.” Will advised you. He had a calm voice, and was always trying to help. You could see just how much he cared, not only about the game, but about everyone that was sitting around the table.
“Why?” You shook your head, your hair tickling Lua’s cheek, making her giggle. Eddie’s lips curved upwards, he felt himself falling in deeper and faster.
“The guards.” Dustin pointed out, looking deep into you. “Unless you use disguise self, they’ll know it’s you, and they probably won’t let you pass. They just tried to uh…” He peered over at Lua, not really wanting to say that word, you just nodded.
“I want them to know it’s me though…” You said back, the kids looked at you, each one of them with a weirder look on their face. “Trust me.”
“You slowly walk down to the dungeons, and at first you realize the small amount of light that creeps in, even if it is a sunny day outside, it feels like midnight down here. The smell of dust and mould hits your nostrils quick. Before you can even move deeper in to find the one you want to talk to, a guard stops you.” Eddie describes it in a beautiful manner, his voice and tone pulling you in deeply, believing every single word, a picture fully painted.
“I demand to speak with Sir.Deeptrut.” You say, in a loud focused voice, avoiding his eyes.
“I’m sorry, your highness. Sir.Deeptrut was accused with an assassination attempt against your father, I would blame you if you came here to uh… finish the job but… I’m afraid I can’t let you in.” He changed his accent to an English one, it made you smile a bit more, discovering something you didn’t know Eddie was capable of doing.
Lua looked up, shocked that her dad could sound like that, not understanding how, Eddie tried to hide his laugh with a little wave at her.
“I just wanna talk to him… please?” You try again.
“Give me a persuasion check.” Eddie used his menacing voice, the one that indicated an important decision.
“Lua?” You asked her, her eyes looking up at you. “You wanna help me roll?” You opened your hand, letting her reach for one of the die. You looked as she grabbed it and threw it on the little wooden box Eddie had left you. “Good job bud!” You praised her as soon as you saw the 19 on the die.
“Jesus, yeah, that’ll do.” Eddie said as soon as he saw the number. Lua chuckled when she saw how happy that had made the two of you. “Princess… He’s a dangerous man.” He used that accent again, the whole table waiting for what your plan is.
“What’s your name?” You narrowed your eyes as you snapped back, your whole attitude changing.
“I’m Liam your highness.”
“Great, so I’ll tell my father that a guard named Liam wouldn’t let me even talk to the man I’m betrothed to.” All of the table opened their mouths in amusement.
“What?” Mike snapped, the first one to do so.
“Betrothed?” Lucas panicked, given he was the one playing the king.
“Just, trust me!” You repeat yourself, even if everyone was looking at you as if you were crazy.
“He just steps back, with his hands in the air, giving you full access to Sir.Deeptrut” Eddie describes in pure amused shock at the chaos you were creating.
“I walk in, and I’m gonna Disguise Self to turn into one of his um… friends?” You half ask as you stifle a laugh. “So he’ll think that me coming as princess was a trick to get in.” You keep explaining your plan. “And then I’ll just get down and try to like, act as if I’m trying to break him free. And say uh… There’s still time for me to finish this, tell me where you got the poison dagger and I’ll finish it myself.”
The whole table felt silent, not really expecting you to do that.
“Oh…God.” Eddie’s face got red, not sure if he found it hot because it had been you doing it, or because it was one hell of a play. “I uh… Shii-ut” He saved himself from cursing as soon as he saw Lua looking up at him with curious eyes. “That’ll be a deception check.” He adds, still bamboozled.
“Lua, you wanna roll again?” You ask her, two dice this time were layed in the palm of your hand. “I’ve got advantage right?”
“Why?”
“Disguise Self, she’s got the actor feet.” Dustin explains in a sort of automotive tone, not really quite believing such a move had come out of you.
“You do.” Eddie confirmed as he nodded, a sense of pride emanating from him.
“C’mon Lua, you’ve got it.” You cheered her as she let the die hit the wooden box. “That’s so good dude!” You praised her once again, a soft kiss left on her cheek as her laughter could be heard. “That’ll be a 24.”
“I… I don’t know where you can get another one, I just… If the primogen of the church got me one, I’m sure he can get you another one, but be wary, that family’s got something odd.”
“You don’t say.” You add in a teasing tone, before raising your eyebrows again, a move that let Eddie know you were about to do something outlandish again. “I want to drop the disguise self and call for the guards. Explain to them how he just confessed and that they have to arrest the primogen.”
“You… you do that.” Eddie finally breaks, as the whole table erupts in panicked laughter and shock that your outlandish plan had worked. “And you see how he just goes ballistic, his full body trying to free himself from the chains as he just yells nonsense in a repetitive manner as he realises just how much you have fooled him.”
“I just wanna reach over to him, close enough to his ear and whisper to him uh… I hope your God hears you now.”
“You have to come play with us more often.” Will says in shock, while Mike just stays there next to him, in shock not really believing you actually did that.
“Lua, you want to go to bed?” You weren’t paying that much attention to the table, nor why it was that impressive. You were more worried about Lua and her head falling as she started falling asleep. “I’ll take her to bed, I’ll come in a minute.” You tell everyone, but mostly Eddie.
He watches you closely, the way your hands hold her with such a delicate manner, the care and sensibility you have in your movements. He reaches for your hand, right before you leave, his thumb caressing the back of your hand in an affectionate touch. You step in a bit closer to him, he stands up so he can leave a short kiss on his daughter’s forehead, right before whispering thank you, a fast kiss on your lips as his dimples appear on his cheeks.  He saw you walk into his room, and even if he was supposed to concentrate on the game, he could only think the same thing i never want to see her go.

I'm not in love
So, don't forget it
It's just a silly phase I'm going through
And just because
I call you up
Don't get me wrong, don't think you've got it made
I'm not in love, no no, it's because...
Scattered voices fell into hushed whispers the moment you walked inside the campaign room, steadily following your presence like a prancing fox. With your photo camera in hand, you sauntered slowly, trying to blend with the crowds in normal hallway fashion, but to no avail their eyes were on you. Your skin prickled and flushed; goosebumps flared up your arms while you unacknowledged a drop of sweat trickling down your forehead. Even with the air of suspense lingering in the room, a few familiar faces waved at you on the long table across from you. You recognized some of them, boys you’ve had classes with and others you’ve seen around the neighborhood, but the one you’ve secretly kept a keen eye on was the man sitting at the far end of the table: Eddie the “Freak” Munson.
Before the start of spring break, Nancy assigned you to take pictures of the clubs for the yearbook. For the week, you’ve just done Chess, Taekwondo, Debate and the cheerleading squad. You wrote the list with the help of Nancy, arranged them in numerical order, putting Hellfire Club at second-to-the-last. Even though you’ve known Dustin and Mike since they were little kids, you were half-convinced by your parents to stay away from anything DnD-related or as they would like to call it, “the Devil-worshipping game”.
You knew it was never like that since you used to play as a young girl, wholeheartedly fascinated with character sheets and the little details put into these games. Overall, you respected the heart and passion of these players. So much so that every time a certain guy with long curly locks starts to march on his usual table, calling out every clique in the cafeteria, you couldn’t help but stare, longer than one’s supposed to every time someone makes a scene at lunch time.
“I’m not in love.” You whispered to your friend, Megan, as you placed your pile of textbooks inside your locker then checked the state of your dusty old camera with a few snaps. Megan rolled her eyes with a teasing smirk, knowing that that’s not the definite answer to what she saw at lunch lately. “Yeah, right. A few minutes worth of Eddie’s lap dancing versus your twenty minutes of staring doesn’t seem to look up on your behalf.” You grunted, showing no signs of defense at Megan’s conviction.
“Ha, ha. Alright Megan, you got me. Now, can I have some of your gum?” Megan handed you a packet of pink gum from her skirt pockets, putting on red lip gloss in front of the locker’s side mirror. “Okay, fine. I’ll let you change the subject for now. But I want to hear more about this little crush on the phone later.” Megan clapped your cheeks with pouty lips before she walked off to her next class. As you closed your locker doors shut, your heart jumped right out of its chest when you noticed Mike’s presence, not really knowing how long he was standing there.
"Hey Mike, what's up?" You didn't know why you fidgeted like a kid grabbing candy from the sweets bowl; judging by Mike's weird expression, he must've waited by your side the whole time. "Well, I'm wondering if you can take Lucas' spot for Hellfire later, since he can't come because of the championship." You remembered the game because of Nancy, when you insisted on taking photos on the court instead of the other clubs. Nancy must’ve seen right through you, but you gave up all your pleas just to get the job done and not mess with Nancy’s temper any longer.
“Sure, but I won’t play. I have to take pictures for the senior yearbook. The layout committee saved you guys a page.”
That very answer leads you here in the old theater room, now fully occupied by the Hellfire club. Mike explained to you in a hurry that they desperately needed someone to replace Lucas for the evening or else their DM would be bothersome if they didn’t get a replacement for tonight's DnD session. It was a surprise to them that someone like you would want to watch them play. You were quite infamous for dating a lot of guys since you were thirteen; puberty has both been a blessing and a curse.
Dustin cleared his throat to break the prolonged awkwardness, asking Eddie to continue but it was only met with coughs from the other members. You were avoiding the table the whole time and decided to play around with your camera until they decided to continue, yet Dustin’s question was only met with more silence. That’s when you looked up for the first time, and your eyes were met with Eddie’s, who was across from you sitting on his throne.
His curly bangs failed to cover the dark look in his eyes, his all too familiar gaze sharpening the strictness of his jaw. His intertwined fingers went rigid just by the way his metal rings stopped clicking against each other, while his chest heaved heavily like something was about to explode from inside him. Unfortunately, you knew that he was going to react the way he did before you entered the room. His avoidant stares from your side of the cafeteria, the bitter tone in his voice when he asked Mrs. Hanks to change his seat farther from yours, and his cold invisible cape that brushed your shoulders every time he walked past you in the hallway. The summer of ‘86 was a memory you can't etch to forget, and it was evident that it was also that time for Eddie’s.
I like to see you
But then again
That doesn't mean you mean that much to me
So, if I call you
Don't make a fuss
Don't tell your friends about the two of us
I'm not in love, no no, it's because...
The momentum in Eddie drastically changed as he started reading the folder in front of him, narrating flawlessly. “The hooded cultists chant,” Once again, his eyes darted to yours while you captured the game with the snap of your camera. “‘Hail Lord Vecna’. They turn to you, remove their hoods. You recognize most of them from Makbar. But there is one you do not recognize,” Their eyes were on him now, clenching their fists as they listened intently.
“His skin shriveled, desiccated. And something else.” Eddie rose from his seat and placed an arm behind him. “He is not only missing his left arm, but his left eye!” Everyone clamored in their seats as you took the perfect shot at the edge of the table. You can tell by the look of amusement on Eddie’s face that he had accomplished his expectations for the campaign, placing them right where he wanted them to be.
"No!"
“He was killed by Kas!”
“So, it was thought, my friends. So, it was thought. But Vecna lives!”
The game started from there. You were quite enthralled the whole entire time, adoring the sight of cards and notebooks scattered everywhere on the table. You even placed your camera down to shout when one of them never got lucky with the dice. It was surprisingly fun at times, enraging at some points, but the thrill distracted you from Eddie.
Well, that part isn't fully true.
You would find yourself smiling when he laughs back at his throne, or even look at his fingers clenching the handles of his throne while the other members of the club attack the enemy. Tonight was the first time you’ve ever been this close to Eddie. This was the first time he ever looked at you, saw you and stood in the same room as you. Every school day, he fished you out like a choking hazard, and you deserved it. This was punishment—a punishment that you’re willing to take since that last summer.
Your final days with him were nothing short of regretful choices. You were scared to be sure, the assurance that someone would actually want you apart from anything else. You shroud love with cowardice, completely used to the idea that any guy can easily discard you like garbage. A simple, pretty girl who never took real relationships "too seriously", or a himbo who only dated "just for the fun of it", whatever else the rest of the school talks about behind your back. But you knew— you knew deep down that Eddie was different from the rest of them.
It was very hot that day; you were sweating profusely through your striped polo shirt and you were in a desperate need to find a water bottle. In the woods, you were walking down the faint grassy trail, where you heard loud music playing from his van. You rounded towards the back of the vehicle, the backdoors hanging open in both directions. That’s when you saw Eddie for the first time.
It was like a scene from a sappy movie, where everything around you went into slow-motion and the world just stopped turning; it's as if nature paused its shift for the two of you. His dark curly locks were tied up, a few strands of hair hanging like ivy vines on his neck. He was wearing a Black Sabbath t-shirt and gray denim pants with handcuffs around his waist. The loud blaring of his guitar stopped when he narrowed his brown eyes towards you, like the world also stopped turning for him. “What are you playing?” You asked him while he drank a water bottle, his steady gaze still on your figure. “It’s an original. I’m still playing around with the chords, but I think it’s going well from there.” He placed his red guitar down, leaning it carefully against the wall before he sat at the end of his van, close to where you’re standing. "Is this what led you here?"
"That was you? It sounded like it was played from one of your records or something.” You sat next to him, your hips touching slightly against his. After he took another sip of his mineral water, he handed it to you with a small, endearing smile, gesturing you to take it. You smiled back at him, mindlessly placing the cap near your lips and flushed in embarrassment when you realized that you haven’t opened the bottle yet. Eddie chuckled softly at the sight, before he wrapped his fingers around yours on the water bottle to loosen the cap for you. “There you go.” He leaned back on his side, resting his weight on the palm of his hand. You tried not to stare too much but to no avail, you find yourself lingering at the sight of his bat tattoos. “Thanks.” You finally looked away then started drinking like a Nomad in the middle of a Sahara Desert.
“So, what are you doing here? In the middle of the woods, I mean.” You set the empty bottle down on the space between you and Eddie.
“Oh, my uncle kicked me out just this afternoon. He didn't want me to disturb his guest with solo practice.” The lids of Eddie’s eyes fluttered upwards to the sky, the blues settling down into a shade of orange. You can’t help but notice his vibrant brown eyes, the sweat trickling down the sides of his neck and his pink chapped lips. You wondered how someone like him could look so beautiful in the mellow glow of the summer heat. Icarus, who flew too close to the sun.
The humid afternoon air placed its fiery warm hands on your back, pushing you carefully towards him. Eddie stared back at you the moment you leaned in closely, his gaze traveling every delicate feature on your face. “I want to hear you play sometime.” You whispered into his ear, feeling the vibrations of your throat sending electric sparks all over your insides. Then that smile, that crazy grin of his, sent you into waves of unfamiliar, exciting emotions.
You want him to smile at you like that forever.
“I’ll be here whenever you need me.” He placed his hand on top of yours, feeling the warmness of his palm come into contact with the coldness of your sweaty backhand. Instead of thanking him like a simpleton, you find yourself touching his left cheek with your other palm, then slowly but surely kiss the skin closest to his lips with a flourish.
The next thing you know, you find yourself around this part of the woods for quite some time. The unknowing trail became a familiar place to you, the anticipation creeping into your veins the moment you set foot on grassy paths, broken cobblestones and fallen branches. The smell of the smoky engine wafted your senses completely, making you break off into a sprint until you knocked repeatedly on the metal doors. He pulled you inside his van, his arms tightly wrapped around your back in a warm embrace. You both laughed like children, letting your bodies slowly drift into nerve-wrecking oblivion.
His shoulders relaxed as you placed your fingers behind his neck, his steady breaths fanning against your skin. Your face was like a pleasing ladder to his eyes; he climbed at the sight of your lips, up to the bridges of your nose, then your eager eyes, covered slightly by the strands of your hair. He gently pushed it away with his thumb, then leaned his head to the side to press his soft lips against yours. Your lips moved with his, an easy rhythm you’ve memorized and pictured so vividly even when you're fast asleep.
Both his hands traveled down to your waist, pressing his fingertips hungrily onto the fabric of your shorts. You grunted and bit his bottom lip mischievously, signalling him to carry you to his leather seats and set you down with his calloused palms, kneading the back of your thighs. He kneeled down in front of you and set your legs wide apart, before pressing his thumb to the wetness in between. “You’re getting wet down there, sweetheart. It’s a shame that it's still covered for me like that, would it?” He continued rubbing small circles onto the wet fabric of your shorts, sending you into a euphoric high of teasing pleasure. Your teeth sinked itself deeply into your lips, holding back a groan you so desperately want to let out as his index and middle finger swiped your covered folds like a credit card holder.
Your back arched at the overpowering sensation, as you carried your hips closer to where his fingers played with your pussy. He started unbuttoning your shorts, then slid it down to your curled ankles along with your white floral-patterned panties. Out of impulse, your thighs closed itself like a clam, your bare sex flushed at Eddie’s ravenous sight. Slowly, he slid one hand in between your legs, which opened itself so eagerly to him like it had a mind of its own. He started rubbing and flicking your clit with his thumb, while the other sneaked itself under the hems of your shirt to pinch your hardened nipple.
You gasped and roughly grabbed his bony wrist as he slid a finger inside of you, feeling the coldness of his metal ring hitting your warm folds. “Fuck, you’re so tight for me, sweetheart.” His large, expectant eyes found its way back to you, crazily grinning at the look on your face. You can’t help but drool when his index finger slithers side to side between your inner walls, not minding the sloppy sound it makes. You closed your eyes as he thrusted one more finger inside of you without any preparation whatsoever, which is something Eddie likes to do: surprise you.
Both fingers slowly push themselves inside you; your mind going completely blank at the depth of his place. He pulled and pushed it back more rapidly, his fingertips pressing harder against your wet walls as you swallowed large gulps of saliva down your throat. Your muscles contracted as his swift fingers obliterated your pussy in painful yet wonderful delight, savoring every inside space as possible. Your feet lifted themselves off the ground, while he held your raised hips with his rough calloused hand; one that would surely leave a mark in the showers later.
“I’m getting there, Eddie.” Your unsteady breaths made it harder for you to speak properly. You can’t even think clearly because of him. Everything from his soft long curls brushing past your shoulders to the hungry look in his eyes as he goes down on you. “Cum for me. I know how much you want to cum all over me.” Like a struck of lightning, he slid a third finger in between your petal-like folds and pushed it farther inside, to the point of absolutely no control. You rolled your eyes to the back of your head as you cursed his name over and over again, not wanting him to stop. With one final bounce, you shuddered under your raspy breath as his drenched fingers released itself from your stretched pussy.
Eddie stood up from his knees and kissed you on the forehead, staring down at you with that dimpled smile of his. “Was I good?” He plopped himself down beside you and snuggled his head on your clavicle. Underneath all that confidence, there was a desperate tremor in his voice that you knew all too well. He wanted to be good for me, you smiled softly at the thought.
He wrapped his arms around your shoulders and looked up at you expectantly, waiting for an answer. “What, why are you smiling?” Eddie asked, his smile slightly faltered. You faced him quickly, your body leaning slightly to his side. “You were amazing.” You gave him a small peck on the cheek.
Now, there’s that amazing smile of his, shining brightly at you like those many times before. “You've also become a different person when you’re horny. You really like to talk me down, huh.” Eddie covered his eyes embarrassingly while laughing at your brutal honesty and critique. “I’ve always wanted to please you in the best way, that’s all.” He whispered into your ear as his hand scooched you closer to him, gently rubbing your sides with his palm.
You grinned at his words from ear to ear, then subtly caressed his cheek with the small of your thumb, closing the tight space between you into a passionate kiss, letting his soft moans melt under your tongue. “I love you.” He muttered in between kisses; his brown eyes significantly locked into yours. You inhaled from surprising exhilaration, resting your forehead against his.
“I love you too, Eddie.”
Wanting him is never the same without him. If only you knew that your careless past would come back and sabotage the one and only thing that’s good for you, you would’ve snatched the keys to his van and locked yourself inside, throwing away the keys until he comes back.
By the time you ran out of things that reminded you of him, you pictured yourself regretfully harboring his love into permanent frames just to slip into your memories of him once more. That summer haunted the crevices of your mind like a dusty old paragraph fading into unrecognizable colors; barely even a photograph to look at. The summer of ‘86 ended like many summers before, yet you felt it in your heart that you would never find the courage to depart from it ever since.
I keep your picture
Upon the wall
It hides a nasty stain that's lying there
So, don't you ask me
To give it back
I know you know it doesn't mean that much to me
I'm not in love, no no, it's because...
The DnD session ended surprisingly successfully. Members older than Mike and Dustin were crying out of joy, while some applauded Erica Sinclair’s lucky draw, welcoming her officially early to the club. Your smile widened at the sight of her waving towards you in her cape, tiptoeing in the middle of the crowds to see you.
Before you start to walk towards her, you caught a glimpse of Eddie heading out the front door with keys in his hand and a black metal box. It wasn’t like you expected him to talk to you after the campaign, but at the same time you felt a pang of pain tugging at the strings of your heart. You’d rather curl up inside your bed and ugly-cry under a blanket for hours than see him leave like that. As you tucked your camera into its old leather case, a small folded yellow paper slipped from the bottom edges of the case, like someone purposefully sneaked it in there while you weren’t looking. You picked it up and opened the contents of the yellow piece of paper, secretly hoping that it was for you.
“Hey, it’s been a while. I don’t have the stomach to reconcile or anything, but Henderson asked me to be nice since you’re only taking pictures for the yearbook. It’s not like I wanted to bother you. I never even thought about it when you showed up with that camera you always bring around. Did your new, older boyfriend get that for you? Anyways, I’m pleased that you enjoyed the campaign tonight. It’s something I’ve specially crafted for weeks now. I guess all that hard work finally pays off when an outsider such as yourself finds it decent at best. Tell me when the photos arrive and keep an extra for me, will you? You always know where I am.” - Eddie.

My Borrowed Son | 16 | Friends and Curiosities
Chapter Sixteen | Friends and Curiosities
Parker couldn’t believe it. Within such a short amount of time, he suddenly had a dozen followers and friends on his page.
Sure, he didn’t know them personally, but everyone was welcoming and polite – two things he was eager to report to his mom when she expressed concern. The miniscule boy also made sure his mom knew he was being safe, not giving out too much personal information, and that the topic of his condition hadn’t even been brought up.
One person commented on his profile picture being interesting, which was a picture of Parker standing in front of his computer screen, but he just explained it was a background and that he wanted to showcase the platform he was publishing on. Karl was the kid’s name, and evidently he and Parker were the same age.
All in all, Parker was pleased with his interactions and the people he was meeting. Lots of them had advice and things for him to check out, and he liked all of the things he was seeing.
There were sketches of space and vast mountains as well as the everyday interactions. There were hundreds of stories from writers just like him.
It felt nice. It felt like some kind of community with people supporting and helping one another. A sense of satisfaction filled the young teen every time he checked his notifications and saw he was getting the chance to meet someone new.
“Just look here, mom,” said Parker eagerly as he showed his mom the latest post he made. “It has almost fifteen likes!” He looked up into his mom’s features and saw her beaming with pride.
“That’s so great, Parker,” she complemented. “Are you going to post your latest story from Mr. Tamplin’s class?”
“I… think so. I don’t know yet though. It doesn’t feel done,” he replied, feeling his cheeks getting warm. The latest story he came up with for Mr. Tamplin’s class was a fiction fantasy story about a sprite named Tal’el. It essentially was his backstory for the Dungeons and Dragons campaign he and his friends started.
Basically, he was a small fairy-like person who was a poison master for his people until he decided he wanted to go out adventuring and exploring. The Dungeon Game Master said it was fine if he played a smaller character, thankfully not questioning why he would want to do such a thing and found a special class for him to play as.
The story actually won a young adult author award for his class and Parker had Mr. Tamplin to thank since it was he who tutored him through his writing slumps. He was now refining it for his literature class.
“Well, don’t be scared to post it sweetie. You’re such a great writer and can do whatever you set your mind to,” encouraged his mom. “Now before you get sucked into checking your notifications, finish your homework and get ready for bed. You have a long day tomorrow.”
“Yes, momma,” Parker replied, rolling his screen back into place in the main area. The structure walls rumbled as his mom closed the outside walls to his home. It was hard to believe it had been a whole month since he “moved in” to this new space.
Parker loved it, in a weird way.
Not to sound ungrateful, but having his own space to roam around, especially in a space that felt suited to him, made him feel just a little bit normal. He liked that he was usually at eye-level with his mom instead of having her loom over him. Just the thought made him shudder involuntarily, and he wasn’t sure why.
It made him feel guilty every time the sensation seized him.
But, now was not the time to dwell on that. It was time for bed.
Parker walked into his room and rummaged through his dresser to find his oversized space t-shirt and elastic band sleep shorts. Then, he went back to the computer and finished submitting his assignments. The words filled the page and Parker hoped that his paper on the evolution of technology was going to be good enough to get him the grade he needed.
Parker’s other assignments were a breeze. Math was simple enough and the biology project about documenting the growth of plants was going smoothly. It was his other project, his story for his literature course, that he was worried about. It was his same story that he was using for his channel, but it was more a mild fear of rejection and lack of perfection.
His online friends liked it, but would his teacher? His followers?
Parker sighed and leaned against the wall before slinking down further into the chair. His eyes focused on the blinking line in front of him as he stared at the end of the fifth chapter he had been editing. Something about this story felt particularly personal, but Parker remembered hearing once about how writers put more of themselves than they’re aware of when they’re making characters and stories.
Perhaps this was just part of that feeling?
The teen sighed and stretched when, suddenly, his lights flickered up above him.
Confusion injected itself into his mind as he stared at the wired lights on the ceiling. His eyes flicked over to the wall switch.
Perhaps just a fluke?
The notion was dismissed when the lights flickered two more times, all of his lights dimming and glowing systematically.
Something raised the hair on the back of Parker’s neck. He felt like he was on pins and needles, the anticipation of a drop while suspended in mid-air. Cautiously, the curious teen stood up and walked over to the switch, examining it closely.
It was still up and wasn’t jiggling or loose.
The lights flickered again.
It felt like he was in a spooky movie, of which Parker had only ever seen one in his life along with a couple of older “thrillers” like Alien and Jaws. Even those movies were censored because his mom didn’t want him to get too spooked.
Was there something wrong with the plug?
Parker glanced at the window at the back by the stairs and, just for a moment, he could have sworn he saw something.
It looked like the quick flick of a shadow.
It was quick and Parker wasn’t even sure if he knew what he saw. He did just step out of his room after all, and he had been staring at his computer screen, which he knew sometimes made shadows appear when there weren’t any.
He held deathly still, his entire body locking up like a perfect figurine. His body fell naturally into the position as he slowly crouched and laid his hand against the floor, as if he could detect any trembling or motion.
He didn’t get a chance to investigate for long though. Before he could make his way to the stairs in his crouched position, there was a knock on the table that made Parker nearly jump out of his skin.
“Parker? Are you going to bed soon?” Parker’s entire body shivered as he pushed himself upright and heaved in a few deep breaths. Every nerve in his body felt electrified. While his heart continued to thrum rapidly, he cleared his throat and called over his shoulder to his mom as the sides of the walls began to open.
“Y-y-yeah, mom. I’m ready for bed,” said Parker. He glanced up at the lights stayed on without the slightest hint of a flicker. The walls opened fully and, instantly, Parker saw his mom’s brow furrow quizzically.
“Everything okay? You look a bit pale,” she said. The maternal instinct in Amanda kicked in and she reached forward and pressed the tip of her finger against Parker’s forehead. He shied away from it, which was typical teenage behavior, but something else felt off about Parker that Amanda couldn’t quite place.
“Y-yeah. I’m fine. I just…” Parker stopped short. It felt like something physically squirmed in his mind, preventing him from saying something about the shadow and the lights. He shook the notion loose, confused as to why this instinct flared up in him, and proceeded with his thought. “I just saw the lights flicker and got spooked.”
“Oh?” Amanda replied as she glanced over and looked down at the power strip that fed electricity into Parker’s Place. Nothing looked off about it to her, but she still knelt and glanced around the ground.
Still nothing.
“Well,” she sighed as she stood and walked back over to the front of Parker’s tiny home. “I don’t see anything. It looks like it’s all plugged in, but we’ll check on it tomorrow. Okay? For now, it’s bedtime.”
“Yes, momma,” replied Parker as he walked up to the edge and accepted the kiss on his torso that his mom gave him. With that, Amanda smiled and watched as Parker curled under the blankets, forming an almost imperceptible lump in the bed. “Goodnight momma. I love you.”
“I love you too, Parker. Sweet dreams my love.” Amanda closed the walls and secured them tightly before tiptoeing out of the room and to her own room to turn in for the night.
Just in the other room, Parker laid there with his heart still fluttering nervously. Everything in him was still on edge, and the curiosity of what was going on with his lights was really bothering him. Parker enjoyed a good mystery or puzzle, but he generally liked ones he could solve.
This one wasn’t solved yet.
For what felt like a couple of hours, Parker tossed and turned in his bed as a mixture of homework assignments and curiosities about the power outlet swirled like a mist in his mind. The more the young teen thought, the more it annoyed him that he didn’t have the answers.
He had had enough.
Parker pushed himself up and decided to go and check out the source of the flickering lights. If it was a cable going bad or possibly the breaker being loose, he needed to get a new one as soon as possible. It would be terrible if he was in class and his power went out. His mom said they would do it in the morning, but Parker knew himself; and he knew he couldn’t sleep if he didn’t at least go and see it for himself.
He couldn’t afford to not check it out with his presentation tomorrow.
The teen stepped noiselessly through his house and exited the front door. As he walked around, he noticed a few things that just seemed, in a word, natural.
Sound was amplified. The darkness in the corners of the room seemed brighter. He could feel every tremble in the desk from his footsteps.
As he made it outside, a choice presented itself to him. For a moment, he considered going down the climbing line he installed himself on the backside of the desk.
But he knew if he slipped on the rope and got hurt, which he never did, his mom would make him take down the line.
He decided to risk it.
It was late. She was asleep. Parker was as sure footed as a goat and knew he would be fine all the way down. The temptation was also too great for the teen to resist. Plus, it would be a lot faster.
There was something about the experience that was, in a word, liberating. The free fall. The catch. The feel of the rope in between his fingers.
It felt natural.
The urge to climb and fall and hide never failed to fascinate parker. Whether it was something his condition genetically programmed him to do so or if it was some personality trait he possessed, he didn’t know.
What he did know was the sensation was addictive and he was itching for a good climb.
Parker snagged the line in between his fingers and leaned over the edge of the desk. There was a mild sense of vertigo that swelled inside him, but he loved it. The weightlessness seized him as he let himself slip over the edge, hands and feet firmly in place and secured on the line.
The line burned against the teen’s palms and against his legs as he quickly descended. It felt like something a secret agent would do, and it felt epic.
The moment Parker’s feet hit the ground, he felt himself instinctually look around and crouch low. Silently, he stepped across the planks of wood that constructed the floor and walked toward the power strip that was only a few feet away. The whole thing was four times Parker’s size, but he navigated through the wires with ease.
His hands worked quickly to check the buttons and reset panels, and the teen could find nothing wrong with any of it.
Perhaps something is up with the electrical cover in the wall? Parker wondered silently. He jumped over the stiff cord that led to the wall and approached the trim on the wall which had small notches in it, so he didn’t need to snag a ladder.
As he approached, Parker noticed something by the very base of the electrical cover that made his hair stand on end.
It was a drill bit.
Flat head.
It was a tad bit rusty, and Parker didn’t recognize it from his mom’s kit that she used to help construct his space. He approached and picked it up, realizing it wasn’t as heavy as he thought it would be. In his hands, it was about twice the size of the drill that his mom used, and he realized he could probably carry it around easy enough; but where did it come from?
I don’t think this is mom’s drill bit. How’d it get here?
Parker glanced up at the electrical cover and felt his heart skip a beat as he noticed the screw for the wall socket was protruding from the wall ever so slightly.
His entire body was shaking now, but he wasn’t sure why.
Had his mom messed with the electrical cover with some old tools that she forgot about?
It didn’t seem like her.
Parker stepped up on the trim, balancing precariously and using the cord to stabilize himself, as he pushed on the very bottom of the electrical cover.
With almost no effort, the piece wiggled free and the screw clattered to the ground. The end looked a lot shorter than the others. He knew because he helped his mom replace the covers a few weeks ago.
The young teen took a few deep breaths to calm himself before he dared to peek inside. Engulfing darkness belonging to the wall consumed his vision. There was something exciting and enticing about the darkness in front of him.
It felt, in a word, familiar.
But why?
Parker felt his head beginning to throb as his mind stirred some fragmented memory, but it was hazy and distant.
What really set the teen on edge, however, was when he dared to push himself up onto the ledge to peer better into the wall and noticed something else that made his insides fill with nervous energy.
There was something that looked like a pencil mark. Two lines with a triangle on top followed by a little check mark on the inside. To Parker, it looked like a kid’s drawing of a house with a check mark inside of it.
Was this something his mom did?
Or was this some kind of construction mark?
What was this?
What did it mean?
The teen stared at the marks and then back to the darkness of the wall. Just like the shadows of the room when he stepped out of his house, the looming abyss of those narrow spaces between the walls didn’t seem very dark. It almost seemed inviting.
There was something about that confined space between the drywall and the studs and exterior boards that made Parker feel like he was back in his space. It was familiar.
But why?
Parker hadn’t realized that he had been learning forward to the point where he was barely hanging onto the edge of the electrical cover and leaning into the walls. It took the sound of his foot skidding against the wood and nearly tumbling headfirst into the space in front of him.
Startled and shaken, Parker pulled himself back out of the entryway into the walls, forced the electrical cover back onto its perch, and hurried back to his room. He was in such a tizzy, the young teen didn’t even realize he had gone straight to the secured line he left and climbed up it in record time, ignoring the staircase mere feet away.
His little feet barely made noise as he scurried back to his room, securing the door and slipping under his covers without so much as a squeak.
Parker’s mind was racing. What was that he just saw? And what was that weird draw he had toward the walls?
Hopefully, his mom would have the answers.
First thing in the morning, he would ask her. She would make everything better, right?

I've been rediscovering my love for Clive Barker this week due to finally managing to see The Ultimate Cabal Cut of Nightbreed (some kind soul has uploaded it to YouTube) and then re-reading Cabal, the book it was based on.
Cabal is amongst my favourite books ever written (though as a bibliophile that list is extremely long!) and one of my favourite movies. I originally saw it in the early 90s when I was probably far too young, and read the book not long after.
I backed the Occupy Midian campaign in 2012 when the lost footage was being searched for and reintegrated into the movie, and I attended a screening of one of the early edits where I met Nicholas Vince and Simon Bamford (Kinski and Ohnaka in Nightbreed, but better known as two of the Cenobites from Hellraiser). This led to the eventual DVD/Blu-ray release of The Directors Cut (which I got a physical copy of) and then The Ultimate Cabal Cut (which I didn’t, and which I haven't seen until now).
It's an oversimplification to call Barker's work horror, especially in Cabal/Nightbreed - this was the mistake the production company made when originally editing and marketing it.
Clive Barker's vision shows us the beauty of the weird, the macabre, the abnormal, and the supernatural, and the true horror in his work comes from the "normal".
In Cabal/Nightbreed his monsters are not evil, they're simply different - undead, mutants and supernatural beings, a metaphor for anyone who has ever felt othered by society. Midian is a place where they can live safely with no fear or judgement. The evil characters are "naturals", humans who hate and fear the monsters for being different even though they pose no threat, and ultimately try to destroy them.
As a member of the LGBT community it's easy to see where Barker's motivation for this metaphor came from, but it could equally apply to just about anyone who feels like they don't fit in. Certainly as a lonely, bullied, weird child when I first read/saw it, who then grew up into a reasonably weird adult, I'd love for the monsters to come and take me away to Midian.
Anyone seeing this who isn't familiar with the book/movie, I'd urge you to look them up, as well as others by Barker. More of my favourites by him are Imajica, Abarat and of course The Hellbound Heart, filmed as Hellraiser. The Forbidden from short story anthology The Books of Blood was also filmed as Candyman.
Below I've linked The Cabal Cut of Nightbreed. Even if you know and love the original theatrical release I'd still urge you to watch this (quick as you can in case its removed due to copyright!).
In addition to doubling the movie length from 1 hour 40 mins to 3 hours 20 mins, a number of the actors voices have been re-recorded as they were overdubbed in the theatrical version for some reason, notably those of Rachel, and Lylesberg, played by Doug Bradley. It was a crime to remove that man's beautiful voice and wonderful to hear it back where its meant to be.
Also, rather than being a standard horror movie heroine who seems to be there only to scream and be rescued, in this version Lori comes across as much stronger and more well-rounded character.
As it says in the opening text, although much of the footage was of good quality there are some sections where all they had available were degraded VHS tapes, some of which were without audio. This means the editing is also a little clunky in places. However the makers of this version wanted to include everything they possibly could in order to bring it in line with the original shooting script and Clive Barker's epic vision for the piece.

Sorry for the rant. I think the fact that they didn't wait until after the Candela finale was a missed opportunity that would have felt less, jarring 1. they could breathe and RP for a session after coming back from the moon reconnaissance mission (this is also considering that whether or not Matt made the party fight Otohan and have a PC death) Matt could have told them to end that particular session at Keyleth's camp and even tell Liam to wait and call Dorian at the end, and then have the party switch. it's also so strange to split the session in two for whatever reason
2. having the party switch after Candela would allow for a good window of time for the Crown keeper to do what they need to in case they can't reach a good point to return to BH in 2 hours, maybe a session and a half at most
3. assuming Dorian, and maybe others with him, come back to the group after whatever this intermission is done, i think it would be hard for them to split the attention between Keyleth encampment and debriefing - mourning FCG - guest players in a way that wont feel like it makes a disservice to another one of these topics (focusing on Guests and FCG's death could make it so the debriefing for the mission they spent 10+ episodes on feels lackluster, and vis versa)
As someone else said, it feels like they are giving us a palate cleanser as i was halfway through a good meal, but also they gave us another meal and after two bites they took it away so i could finish it in two weeks
there is also this limbo feeling of that we are getting late to the airport (freeing Predathos) but also we are taking a stop for sightseeing, and snacks, and bathroom and- it's like they are trying to convince us that "there is an urgency and we have to get there now now, but also nevermind that, lets catch up with these other characters for a bit"
It's just an ODD choice no matter how you look at it
So the urgency doesn't bother me. This was a weird thing in the fandom during the Solstice Split too (god i blocked so many people for constantly shrieking ARE THE OTHERS DEAD in the main tag every week, like no they are fine, they are narratively on pause) but like. Time is frozen for Bells Hells right now. We are following another group. We are not going to get snacks; we are looking in on what other people are doing, concurrently with this campaign. Indeed, that's not a bad idea. In a good campaign, there is this sense that the rest of the world exists and is doing things as you go about your own business - you are heroes of the story but you're not the only people who matter or do things.
It really is like. In some fantasy in which I were personally asked "hey, we want to do this thing where the Crown Keepers show up midway through the episode, and we follow them for that half an episode and then the beginning of the next episode, where would you put this?" I would, to be honest, say "maybe just do it as a standalone episode itself" but if I had to it would just be, again, Not Now. Cutting away while the party is on the moon! Cutting away while they're headed to the moon! Cutting away a week from now! Cutting away just before the Otohan fight! Hell, I even think that while I would have initially been far more annoyed if we started the episode and it was the Crown Keepers the whole way through this week, it would feel more coherent. But like, on a list of 20 places to insert the Crown Keepers scene, "halfway through an episode following a particularly dramatic and tragic character death" would be 21st.
(I also do want to push back against the idea that Sam needs more time and so this is why; you could just. run more episodes without him. Travis voluntarily sat out of almost 5 episodes. It took 2 episodes for Caduceus to show up. Team Wildemount had more episodes than Team Issylra. It is literally fine if he misses a few more episodes.)

Hellfire Club Things
Tumblr media
Just my thoughts on the Hellfire Club members and there role in the club 😊 thank you for the idea @sat-nam-saint
Eddie Munson
🔥The leader of course!! Bosses everyone around and tells them what to do and they listen because they all look up to him
🔥Takes credit for the creation of Corroded Coffin but it was totally Gareth's idea. Gareth was like we should start a band 😊 and Eddie said no that's stupid and like 2 weeks later Eddie was like we should start a band 😊 and ta da Corroded Coffin was made
🔥Loves to DM because he gets to do different voices and be dramatic the entire time (and he gets to control the story)
🔥Asked his uncle to build him the D&D table because the one the school gave wasn't big enough. He and his Uncle stayed late at the school for a week building it.
🔥Gives all the members a ride home when it rains because if they were sick they couldn't make game night but its actually because he loves them or whatever 🙄 lol
Gareth
🔥 All I can say is poor Gareth 😔
🔥Gareth is the Hellfire Club pickle trash can. If its cheeseburger day at school there will be a small pile of pickles on his tray and the other members won’t let him leave until they're gone.
🔥“Gareth this smells weird...eat it” “Gareth I saw a spider in this box.....stick your hand in it” “Gareth there’s something on your shirt.....got you!”
🔥Eddie throws dice at him when he’s mad
🔥 Watches romance movies and tried to talk about it with the club and everyone was like "Shut up Gareth" 🙄
🔥What I’m saying is Gareth cant catch a break!!
Jeff
🔥He is the most ‘normal’ member of the group (his name is literally Jeff)
🔥Sets up study sessions for Gareth and Eddie. Eddie will not study at all and raid his pantry. Gareth will study for a little before joining Eddie and eating all of Jeffs food and playing his games. (And yes Jeff’s mom does yell at him because were does all the food keep going she just went grocery shopping 🙄)
🔥Secretly loves to bake and occasionally brings them to Hellfire Club and says his mom made them
🔥Washes his Hellfire Club shirt by itself because he doesn't want it to accidently get ruined
🔥When the club name was being created he suggest Dice Dudes and Eddie was like I’ll hurt you don't say that ever again
Dustin Henderson
🔥 Watches romance movies and talks about them with Gareth in secret (he wants Eddie to think he's cool 🥺)
🔥Argues about the accuracy of fighting techniques in D&D
🔥When the other members need help with homework they immediately go to Dustin because he is the smartest of them all!
🔥Brags about having an amazing girlfriend Suzie to all the other members! And tries to give them dating and love advice since he is so experienced lol
🔥Always tells Eddie how he should continue the campaign and what should happen next. Writes out detailed documents to Eddie about different storylines
Mike Wheeler
🔥 Designated Hellfire Club spider killer. Everyone else is too baby but Mike is like whatever 🙄 stomps on it
🔥Puts up with the foolery because he likes D&D
🔥 Also is the foolery because he always comes late and unprepared to sessions. No dice, no pencil, character sheet? Must of left it at home
🔥Forgets Gareth's name so he’s always like “Hey....you!” because he doesn't want to ask and later on Dustin is like “You forgot his name again huh?”
🔥Honestly is there for the vibes and Dustin
Lucas Sinclair
🔥What do you think 🙄
🔥(Before the betrayal) He would always forget to wear his Hellfire Club shirt
🔥Whenever something was up high or out of reach the other members would always ask Lucas to grab it
🔥The most reasonable D&D player and make everyone wait while he plans out the different scenarios that could happen and everyone is like omg hurry up!
Erica Sinclair
🔥Everyone is lowkey scared of Erica (as they should be 😌)
🔥Puts everyone in their place when they're out of line
🔥 Tells Eddie his hair is as bad as his DM skills when he gets on her nerves which is often
🔥 Gareth asked her about My Little Pony once and she was like get the hell away from me now!
Freak 1
🔥He’s there to laugh at Eddies jokes and hype him up basically
🔥 Chronic cheese dust fingers
🔥I do not know this man sorry if he’s your babe or whatever lol

Hey there, are you new to the Resident Evil fandom and want to know more about this weird blond guy with the sunglasses? Maybe you only play Dead by Daylight and want to know what his deal is without having to comb through a 20+ game series for his appearances? Are you trying to write a fanfic and can't think of anything for him to say, outside of constantly proclaiming his right to godhood?
Then have I got the resources for you!
(don't trust the fan wikis. They do things like claim that a man with one of the most Irish surnames in the world is Italian, just because his parents have some implied organized crime connections)
Ok now that you're in here I will reveal that the real purpose of this post is to spread the good word of original flavor Wesker, who I think is a really interesting villain with more complexity than people might expect. It doesn't look like Capcom is ever going to remake code veronica, which has a significant portion of his story, and there's a ton of his lore locked in a rail shooter most people never played, so I'm here to help fill in some knowledge gaps.
To start off, here is Wesker's Report 1. This is Wesker himself summing up the first 3 games for you, with glorious footage of the original playstation graphics:
youtube
Don't panic it's actually only 22 minutes long, the rest is an untranslated interview with the game directors.
Bam boom, you know what Wesker was doing from 1998 through 2000. Now let's step back in time a little and talk RE 0, the prequel game that explains how the outbreak that started it all happened in the first place. This is the story of Wesker and his buddy Birkin's past mistakes coming back to haunt them with a zombie-leech army (the past mistake in this case is disposing of your mentor's body improperly):
youtube
Stepping even further back in time we have Wesker's Report 2, which talks about his early years at Umbrella. This was only ever released in Japan, but fans have done a translation and gotten it voice-acted. This video has both the report and a compilation of all Wesker's scenarios in Umbrella Chronicles (the rail shooter this-is-the-story-so-far game):
youtube
It's long because it includes the gameplay footage. If you just want to read the report instead, google project umbrella Wesker's Report 2. You can also find UC's cutscenes separately on youtube. Wesker's scenarios are Beginnings, Rebirth, and Dark Legacy. UC condensed a lot of stuff and made some…odd story changes (especially to RE 3. Poor, poor RE 3), but it also added fun new stuff for Wesker to do, like beating up his creepy masochistic ex-boss. Godspeed, Wesker.
Now rumor has it that we are going to get Ada's campaign added to RE 4 remake eventually, but we don't have it yet, so until then here's their interactions from the original (lovingly updated to HD by fans):
youtube
RE 5 was Wesker's last (chronologically) and probably most significant appearance in the series, not to mention the version of him that's been everywhere since, but I'm not actually going to talk about him. To my eyes, RE 5 Wesker is a fun villain in his own right, he just isn't Wesker. He feels like a completely different character to me. If you've watched these videos you might have noticed this already.
RE 5, if you wish to give the writers the benefit of the doubt, is a story of Wesker having a complete mental breakdown after finding out certain retcons truths about his past. He's not usually like that. For one thing, count how many times he mentions being a god in any of this footage. Go on. I'll wait.
Classic flavor Wesker is calm, cold, and calculating. He loves pitting enemies against each other and then running off with the spoils. He does very little grandstanding and he's not all that hammy (campy? definitely, but not hammy. there's a difference). He's pragmatic to a fault, and a master at shifting his plans around to work on the fly. He also doesn't give a flying fuck about eugenics, or "saving the world", he's in it for power and money and building better monsters just because he can. There. I said it. I feel better for it.

Shadowgast Recs: Time Travel and Time Loops
Tumblr media
This week, we have 12 fics that feature time travel or time loops under the cut! Check them out, and don't forget to comment or kudos if you like them!
Something Worth Saving by cow_queen (35341,Not Rated) Warnings: Graphic Depictions of Violence and Major Character Death (But they get better eventually)
A Groundhog day AU where Essek keeps reliving the day the Dynasty killed the Mighty Nein, constantly going back to the beginning in a desperate attempt to save his friends.
Reccer says: I really enjoy the way the timeloop mechanic is handled here actually, and rather enjoy the slow realization of who is really causing problems.
Tumblr media
in the times in between by jakia (8098,Teen) Warnings: None
A strange man keeps showing up to help the Ermendruds, but Una thinks he's really swell, if not a bit odd and strangely familiar...
Reccer says: Look, I just love Una's perspective and how we as an audience know who this man is but she doesn't. I just adore this fic so much.
Tumblr media
To be Defeated and Victorious by basically_npr_trash (6394,Teen) Warnings: none
While on a mission for Master Ikithon, Bren receives a letter from a mysterious Dynasty stranger offering a tenuous olive branch. Bren's rational side tells him to burn it immediately, but something pulls on him to follow through. A This Is How You Lose the Time War AU
Reccer says: It's got enemies to lovers, time travel, spies, clever places to hide letters, and the letters themselves!
Tumblr media
Another Time, Another Place by Operafloozy (9780,Teen) Warnings: none
Essek and Bren are time travelling spies that write each other letters. They fall in love.
Reccer says: It's This is How You Lose the Time War AU that focuses a lot on how their relationship changes from enemies to falling in love, and has some great visuals and lines in it. Also has a great Astrid and Eadwulf Cameo
Tumblr media
the better version of our past by KmacKatie (5840,Explicit) Warnings: None
In the split moment where Caleb and Essek use the gem to give everyone some much needed rest, they see visions of alternative timelines
Reccer says: The vibes are so perfect and weird. A wonderful emotional roller coaster for our boys
Tumblr media
displacement by mllekurtz (12834,Explicit) Warnings: Dubcon in the flavor of past!Essek sleeping with present!Caleb without disclosing that he isn't present!Essek
Post-97 Essek gets body swapped with his post-campaign self, sleeps with Caleb, and reckons with the fact that the Nein seem to love him.
Reccer says: This is Essek at his most self-loathing and Caleb at his most Essek-loving. That combination is heartbreaking in the best way, and makes the comfort that comes at the end hit that much harder.
Tumblr media
Breaking Inertia by futureshieldmaiden (31096,Teen) Warnings: none
Caleb and Essek get stuck in a time loop, and have to work together to get out of it.
Reccer says: An interesting take on the time loop idea - I like how having both of them stuck in the time loop changes the dynamics between them, even as they discover more information about each other along the way.
Tumblr media
a shape made by our hands by saturdaysky (4158,Teen) Warnings: none
Caleb time travels to a decaying timeline and meets a young Essek.
Reccer says: The look at Essek as a child is both adorable and heart-wrenching, and the way present day Caleb and Essek respond to what happened is perfectly them.
Tumblr media
time will come by mieletthe (5750,General) Warnings: None
In his old age Essek travels back in time to visit an elderly Caleb for a conversation on grief and death.
Reccer says: A remarkably cathartic and tender story. If you need a good cry, here it is!
Tumblr media
if only for a moment by saturdaysky (2035,General) Warnings: deals with the eventual future death of a main character, but no one dies in the fic
Caleb accidentally travels forward in time, far past his death. Essek is there and has been expecting him. They share a soft moment.
Reccer says: Sky handles the topics of grief and love with such exquisite care. I cry wonderful cathartic tears every time I read this fic. I'm tearing up writing this summary. Read this fic, you guys.
Tumblr media
Twelve Thousand and Sixty-Five Seconds by LessAttitudeMoreAltitude (1945,Teen) Warnings: There is repeated major character death and suicide, neither being permanent but is nonetheless present
Time was Essek's speciality. Which was why, waking up in his dark cell on the day of his execution, he immediately noticed the dozens of threads of possibility. Countless echoes of Caleb trying over and over again to save him. And they only got more numerous the closer he came to his death.
Reccer says: I liked it!
Tumblr media
And then two for this last fic:
The Fullness of Time by Cers (162788,Teen) Warnings: None
In the battle against Lucien, Essek makes a gamble that accidentally sends himself and Caleb back in time. They have to work to figure out how to get back to save their friends.
Reccer 1 says: This fic is incredibly well written and the last couple of chapters left me a mess with my emotions. Lots of good bits of the wizards trying to figure out their feelings and then avoiding talking about them Reccer 2 says: One of, if not the best Time Travel fic out there. Cers explores the highs and lows of time travel, along with the paradoxical risks associated. HIGHLY Recommend.
Tumblr media

Comments on Saltburn
- Couldn't have chosen a better film to start 2024. Saltburn is beautiful, hunting and weird. And those types of movies that it's been to go in blind
*spoilers ahead*
-I wasn't following the marketing campaign but people on the internet were treating this movie as a gay love story so I don't know if the movie was actually marketed that way or if it was the audience wish's but let me tell you that this is no love story.
-Felix is quite a nice guy, one of the biggest plot twists for me was Jacob Elordi playing a genuinely nice guy lmao. It is implied that Oliver wasn't the first poor dude Felix brought over Saltburn but I didn't see this is something bad or evil, Felix grew up in a highly privileged environment and yet he ain't a complete jerk but I rather believe that he just wanted to know people who in his eyes were free of wherever knots he think he had, people who are "normal" and have "real" struggles.
He really bonded with Oliver, even with his friends not sharing this friendly sentiment towards the outsider and was deeply hurt by Oliver's web of lies. His death or more likely the way it happened was a shocker to me but it made sense he was no longer friends with Oliver, he became an enemy and an obstacle to his truly desires.
-Farleigh was the only one able to see through Oliver bullshit, and that's why Oliver makes him get kicked out of the house. In the beginning you kind of hate him cuz you think he's being a jerk to Oliver just cuz he is poor. I think he may represent this type of rich people, the ones who can't stand poor people trying to be one of them. I wonder if he off himself too.
-Pamela and Venetia I would need another watch to understand their characters but in a first watch I interpreted as Pamela being their "clown", entertaining them and being replaced by Oliver, who just couldn't live with the idea of not being in Saltburn with the aristocrats and thinking that even if she was bullied, it's better to live there then live with the common folk.
Venetia I think is just the type of woman that just can't get out of her mother's shadows as she tries to be different, to be cool but fails. By the end she also is able to see through Oliver bullshit and I think that's why she died.
-Elspeth is amazing. She was so elegant, so classy...it was so sad that she never was really allowed to express the pain of losing her kids. The only time we see that was when she screamed in pain after founding Felix.
She wanted to keep Oliver around cuz Felix loved him and it was a way of keeping her son there.
-Lets talk about the Devil. I don't think he planned to do all of the murder, he planned to be with the 1% but not to murder them. It only happened after Felix found out the truth.
Oliver was obsessed with Felix, and the moment he drank his cum , he started to act more and more confident. It was like he was becoming more and more like them after that and sucking Venetia, literally a vampire, sucking them dry.
Like he said himself, he loved Felix , he wasn't in love with him. It's like when Cady Heron wanted to sabotage Regina George but still wanted Regina to like her and be with her. This love and hate duality.
I think the grave scene is when he realizes what his done. He lost his obsession, he could never consume Felix again but he damn hell tried. The sex scenes with Oliver are never about love, but it's about power.
He thought it was over until Elspeth invited him to continue to stay with them. He tried to match Venetia to reinforce his place there but she realizes what he really was and because of that he had to deal with her too.
His dreams of being in Saltburn were over until he saw Sir.James died. Now it's time to suck the life out of a broken and lonely Elspeth. And I was really scared when Oliver started to mount her like that, I was so afraid that he would assault her defenseless body I almost turned off the movie. That was the scariest and heaviest scene to me tbh
Now it's all his. It's better be alone and be the one of the 1% than being with the common folk.
Plus Duncan disliked him because he also saw who he really was from the very first time. And like all the staff, he left

I'm somewhat curious because everyone has their own perception of killers in dbd before they came into the realm. Out of all your faves (like Caleb, Tarhos, Billy ect..) do you think any of them are still....well virgins?? Most of them were either too focused on revenge and bloodshed to even think about ass or coochie (lookin right at you slinger also I LOVE UR BLOG SM)
I have other stuff in the drafts I'm working on atm ( do not worry followers! it will be posted! eventually! ) but Man this just. rattled my brain so hard that I had to start writing Immediately
I'm just gonna pick the guys you listed or else I'd be rambling way too much and also idk what the hell to categorize this as so ummmmm just putting it under the cut. I guess these are more like character studies than anything?

SEXUAL HEADCANONS FOR THE DBD KILLERS Featuring Caleb Quinn, Tarhos Kovács, and Max Thompson Jr.
Themes: Smut, smut, and a little bit of fluff at the end. Honestly, what did you expect? Warnings: Mentions of canon-typical violence
The Deathslinger / Caleb Quinn - I'd imagine Caleb is around his mid-to-late 60s ( if you don't think too hard about the time-fuckery that is the Entity's Realm ), so the man definitely has some years under his belt. - When it comes to sex, though, he might've fooled around with one or two folks in his younger days. Like most other cowpoke of his time, he didn't really care what gender he was laying down with. - Yes, I am saying that Caleb is pansexual. All cowboys are at least a little bit gay. I don't make the rules. - He definitely didn't see any action after nearly killing Bayshore and being stuck in a penitentiary for 15 years straight, that's for sure. - Plus, there's no good reason to be horny in a place like that. - That being said, he knows the basics and maybe a trick here or there, so he's not a total buffoon, but he's not a floozy either.
The Knight / Tarhos Kovács - Being taken from his home and put into slavery at such a young age, he didn't exactly have a normal childhood. - Tarhos didn't have the time to be concerned with anything remotely romantic or sexual, constantly going on campaigns with his men and killing everyone that stood in their way. - He would never admit it to anyone, even himself, but this man is so touch-starved and needy that just hugging him would probably give him a boner as stiff as his claymore. - Tarhos tries to ignore sexual urges until they go away, but that doesn't always work, so he might have to rub one out once in a while. He feels guilty about it every time. - Yeah, he's a virgin. No experience at all.
The Hillbilly / Max Thompson Jr. - Oh, this poor boy. We all know his story by now. It's pretty obvious that he never had any physical contact, much less that of a romantic or sexual nature. - Back in his time, television shows weren't nearly as scandalous as nowadays. There was no way of accessing pornographic material unless you got special magazines, which he of course never did. - Going through puberty, he would feel strange and uncomfortable, just trying to ignore the weird feelings he had. It made him want to crawl out of his own skin. - Those habits stuck with him into his adulthood, constantly fighting his own body and trying anything to get the strange feelings to go away. Eventually, he figured out that friction was the easiest method. - You could say he's "innocent", but I prefer "clueless". - If someone were to truly earn his trust and explain to him what erections, masturbation, and sex are, he'd get super flustered and cover his face in shame. - His first time would need to be slow and more of a tutorial than anything else. Dude's probably gonna cum as soon as a hand touches him. Just be patient.
