you don't understand how normal i am about the mario & luigi series' FIRST game featuring prince peasley, a character who not only remembers luigi's name, but chooses to forget mario's all while continuously treating luigi like the extra special one out of both the brothers

like. this game emphasized the whole "haha luigi's a loser" mentality nintendo rly latched onto. in the start of this game he is repeatedly being forgotten and belittled and dragged along this way and that

and then all of a sudden this PRINCE shows up and starts giving luigi all this special attention like? AH. the idea that luigi's self esteem is already so low and then all of a sudden he's having roses thrown in his lap, nicknames given to him, and thanks/compliments left and right

not to mention the. ahem. butt stabbing scene...

and the aforementioned deliberate choice of words on peasley's part when referring to mario. he recognizes that luigi is hardly referred to by name and extends that kind of lack of recognition to MARIO instead of luigi, for once!

and luigi reciprocates hardcore! 

he starts greeting/saying goodbye to peasley by waving his hat, blushing around him, collapsing to the floor and sobbing when peasley puts himself in a dangerous situation, and rushing to hug him at the end of the game

and there’s other little things: like how peasley is straight up winking as he goes to catch luigi from falling 

and in the remake, luigi keeps peasley's rose under his hat! 🥺

in conclusion: i think their relationship is really important for luigi's self esteem and character arc and more people should witness and recognize their very canonical romance. thank you. <3

After years of rejection, maybe Bowser is just good at faking confidence? maybe secretly he’s just as insecure as Luigi huuu? Ever thought of that (probably)

Like come on, give me Bowser, having not only a fuck no why him?!? mentality when he finds out that he fell for Luigi but also a ignoring all of these emotions and waiting for them to die, is the best course of action

What do you mean every time he looks at Luigi. There’s a little ember in his eyes?His eyes are red! There’s always an ember to them!!!

Give me moment’s of butterflies and bliss just for there to be a down spiral into panic and doubt. There’s no possible way that Luigi could love me after all of the things that I’ve done to him and his loved ones.

Not only that give me Luigi going to Mario and peach for advice

Mario and his wife peach had to try really hard to convince Luigi that Bowser does like him, but for some reason he’s not doing anything about it

“ I know what heart struck looks like on bowsers face and he certainly looks at you that way weege”

But It wasn’t until peach mentions bowsers history of rejection in were both Mario brothers were like oooooooh *face slap*

Now, technically by this point Luigi can just ask Bowser onto a date, but that’s too easy, so how about instead Luigi just blatantly flirts with Bowser in hopes that Bowser would be the one to ask him on a date. Both Mario and peach agree to this idea thinking that he just needs a little nudge nudge

Even going as far as to comment on Luigis affection towards the king

Mario: “ you and Luigi made really good partners in this race, besides when he’s with me, peach or Daisy, I’ve never seen him have so much fun”

Peach: “ Luigi speaks very highly of you. It almost reminds me of the time of when he used to talk about Prince Peasley, that way” (this would’ve been one of the nail in the coffin. If it wasn’t for the fact that Bowser was unaware of Luigis crush on The bean Prince)

 This just leads everyone to be frustrated because all of the hints and Luigi’s moves are not working the way that they want it to. It wasn’t until Daisy mentioned that Bowser is one of the most stubborn people that they know and “if he has his mind set on some thing a.k.a. not letting his feelings affect him and Luigi’s friendship which he seems to value a lot then he’s probably going to fight tooth and nail to keep it that way”

Mario, peach and Luigi: ooooooh *face slap*

 this is in fact 100% true each and every single flirt or comment left Bowser spiraling finding himself laying awake at night thinking about all the wat ifs and the maybes only for him to remember that he had the same thoughts and hopes with peach only for them to shoot him right back at his face with the devastation

Also, give me Bowser trying to separate himself. his feelings for lu is getting so out of hand that he’s starting to imagine that the plumber is flirting with him! what delusion!!! (Smh)

Finally, with help from his best friend, Daisy Luigi, planned on to finally ask Bowser to go out with him romantically

Now, I don’t know about you, but that seems like a good place to insert a happy ending….

Luigi, finding this out is absolutely heartbroken (my poor boy what have I done?) thinking that maybe he waited too long that maybe him and his friends were wrong and that it was just him getting his hopes up because as we all remember, weege is familiar with rejection to

It isn’t until his dear friend Daisy, ever the hothead goes up to Bowser yelling at him for leading her bestie on and going on a date with some scamp

 Bowser is absolutely flabbergasted, but also over the moon yet also petrified, because he potentially ruined yet another possible happily ever after. Thankfully, Daisy knows what to do to fix this.

While all this is happening, Luigi unaware of his besties wereabouts is in his room, reading a bunch of sad romance novels that don’t have any happy endings. It isn’t until Luigi stands up to go get himself a snack that Luigi receives a text message from Bowser’s asking if they can meet up.

Luigi internally is flipping out because on one hand, he would love to see his Bowser, but on the other hand, he knows for a fact that Bowser his friend would want to talk about his date, and Luigi doesn’t know if he can handle that right now

But this is a Weege we’re talking about. He loves to be there for his friends and family, even if it would hurt him, so he reluctantly agreed.

Let’s say, Bowser invites Luigi to practice racing with him  in where you can immediately tell that there is an awkward tension in the air. Bowser is not to surprised by this, but Luigi is because as far as he knows, Bowser doesn’t know that he has feelings for him. (good Lord Daisy you better hope that Luigi doesn’t get upset at you for outing his emotions.)

They go on a race or two before taking a little break and getting back into the swing of their friendship, when Luigi decides that he would rather rip the bandage off, then painstakingly wait for Bowser’s to open up

Luigi tries his best, not to let his excitement show when Bowser says that him, and his date both agreed that a second one will not be happening. Even so, after hearing those words, lu very quickly made up his mind it might not be what him and Daisy planned, but if he waits any longer then Bowser’s next date might be the one to get to call him their’s a Luigi would rather fail from trying rather than not trying at all

Because the pain of never knowing what could’ve been hurt so much more than Bowser’s potential rejection

“ if you don’t mind, can I recommend someone for you to try a date with?”

“Oh?”

“Ya… you wouldn’t so happen to be interested in a little green plumber would you”?

 Bowser’s takes a moment to realize what just happened and it probably would’ve taken him longer if it wasn’t for the fact that Luigi started repeatedly saying sorry backpedaling try to fix what was starting to feel like a mistake (what can I say I’m a sucker for an anxious Angsty mess)

Bowser, surprisingly soft-spoken says yes, causing Luigi to look up at him. Shock is in his eyes before his smile meet them.

“Cool” Luigi would say as he tries to keep his smile on the down low but he can’t help it especially if Bowser‘s tail decides to  thump besides him

Luigi watched with a small smile as Peasley wrap up his arm. The prince doing his best to cover the rather long and deep cut that had been placed. Peasley was thankful that they could no longer see the red. 

“I’m still not used to the fact that your blood…is so red.” Peasley said weakly. Gently running a hand along the wrapped arm. 

“Humans and Beans are built differently.” Luigi attempted a small laugh, faltering when the prince didn’t share the same feelings. He reached out to gently take Peasley’s hands in his own. Squeezing them softly. “Hey, I’m fine, really. You don’t have to worry.”

“You can say that to me, but that doesn’t mean I’ll listen.”

“Peasley-”

“I hate seeing you hurt,” Peasley said softly, “I know you’re strong, I know you can take a lot, but… All I can think about is how I could have prevented it. How I could have gotten you out of the situation. It’s all that can run through my mind.”

He let out a shaky laugh. Luigi frowned softly as Peasley wiped away at the corners of his eyes. “Sorry, how silly of me. You’re a hero! You see far crazier things than what you faced today and you always come out on top. I just…”

Peasley’s bottom lip trembled from both holding back his fears and the nervous energy that hit him as Luigi leaned closer. Eagerly accepting the gentle kiss that the human laid upon his lips. Taking a deep breath as his hands carefully travel up Luigi’s arms, making sure not to undo the wrappings he’d just placed. 

It was quick and meaningful, the kiss. Peasley letting out a shaky breath as if exhaling his nerves and frustrations. Eyes closed as he stayed in the moment, trying to remember the pressure on his lips only a few seconds ago. Smiling softly as Luigi pressed their foreheads together. 

“You’re not silly,” Luigi said softly, “I understand what you’re saying, because I feel the same way. About you, and Mario, and Peach, and so many others. It just means you care about people. I would jump into any attack or fight or anything even like it means it would keep you safe.”

Peasley couldn’t help but laugh again, still feeling shaky. “How is it you’re the one who’s hurt yet you’re trying to comfort me?”

“Because that’s what you do when you…when you love someone,” Luigi swallowed softly. Peasley loved how his human’s cheeks glowed with a beautiful red. Even if he was panicking about it only a few moments ago seeing it drip down Luigi’s arm. 

“You love me?” Peasley asked teasingly. 

Luigi laughed before poking out his tongue. “Of course I do!”

“I love you as well… Even with your crazy need to take attacks head on.”

“I thought that made me chivalrous?” 

Peasley didn’t bother with a verbal reply. Instead bringing Luigi into another gentle kiss, cupping the human’s cheeks in his hands.

I'm loving all these asks about Papa Mario and the nursery. They're so adorable! How about when Luigi gets to hold Mario's daughter for the first time? I bet Luigi would be so tearful and Mario's like "Awww bro" in a kind, relatable way. Good Uncle Luigi for the win! (Same with Prince Peasley and even Aunt Princess Daisy!)

Oh, the man looses it in the best way. Luigi and Mario are two halves of a whole brain cell, so they're both misty-eyed and cooing and babbling over her — "Non è perfetta?!" "Assomiglia a te, Mario!" "Ah, ma guardale gli occhi! Questa è la sua caratteristica migliore!" "Oh così carinaaaaaaa!" — all of this, of course, being whisper-shouted back and forth to each other, with the biggest and goofiest smiles on their faces. Weegee would promptly get her her very own plumber's cap, and maybe a fake mustache to go along with it, something silly yet still sweet in its sincerity. And that would just be the beginning; the little girl would grow up knowing Luigi as the uncle she can go to for literally anything, because he will spoil her absolutely rotten.

Interestingly, while I can't overstate just how much Luigi (and, by extension, Peasley) loves his niece, she's Daisy's absolute favorite. A few years down the line, Mario and Peach welcome a pair of twins, and Luigi's just as smitten with them as he is with his oldest niece. But Daisy, while she definitely still dotes on the younger two, remains closer to the eldest. She wouldn't even pull the "I love all of you all the same!" shtick; she'd just straight-up tell the girl, to her face, "You're my favorite and you'll always be my favorite. Don't tell your mom." She's the aunt our young princess goes to whenever she needs to feel like an only child again, if only for a few hours. 😆

on the backend of things i’ve used mela for a mareach kid for a few years but it’s only this year when i was actually like. designing her that i was like ‘they should have twins. something something runs in the family (on my dad’s side of the family his mom had twins and the twins also had twins) something something legendary star twin having twins’ so i trialed a few names (mainly arancia) before i settled on pera! :^)

i’ve been having the time of my life this semester (/s) so i really haven’t developed them very much unfortunately :( but that’s what asks are for! (so please send more if you’re curious!)

this is getting long so here’s a post cut

mela is the more excitable twin and comes up with a lot of ideas, but as they grew up she defaults more to pera to lead because she tends to execute them better and think of details mela would miss

though as kids pera would go along with whatever mela suggested bc she thought it was fun ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (mela was the one who proposed playing with fire, pera would probably just say ‘lets do it outside’)

i think they fully developed their own ‘firebrand’ around 3-4! but there were signs beforehand, like mela sneezing smoke as a baby and having a higher normal body temperature than pera

(but peach’s magic is so strong there was little doubt that her children would inherit her abilities, and they do end up doing so to some degree! fire just manifested early)

in terms of them as babies, they were definitely a handful but overall ‘good’ babies

once pera knew how to walk tho it was a wrap

very adventurous and loves pursuing knowledge no matter what it takes (nosy and persistent) meanwhile mela has that same curiosity but doesn’t really know what she wants. the happy hobby pursuer

we know mario has experience with younger children and babies (mallow, goombario if you squint a little, watt, yoshi kid, himself (PiT moment), olivia) and peach likely doesn’t have nearly as much but it’s still a different ball game when it’s your kid and two of them and being prince consort(? king? in my head he stayed prince consort but i like @istadris ‘s thing) but he does have a huge community so they do end up well traveled/being cared for and spoiled by many of mario’s companions, and especially so by luigi, peasley, and daisy

back to them being more grown up

mela is the oldest (and as such wears warm-reddish colors in accordance with my headcanon of mushroom world sibling pairs) so technically she’s first in line for the throne, but she doesn’t have as much of an interest in it and believes pera would be a better choice. pera (wears green tones) to her credit does show more interest so they may forgo tradition once more when the time comes but joint ruling was never out of the question

but they don’t have to worry about that for quite a while (but i think peach would do well to make sure both are prepared regardless because of her own experience)

as a pair they aren’t as joined together at the hip as mario and luigi were/are mostly because they didn’t grow up in an environment where mela or pera absolutely needed to protect the other (nor were they ever forcibly separated like the bros were in yoshis island) but they absolutely love each other and would be friends if they weren’t sisters

when they were little tho they were obviously fraternal and always wanted to look identical so they mostly dressed the same until they got to be maybe around 6-8? wide range ik but yeah

but i’m not entirely sure what the situation with bowser is like when they’re growing up but it isn’t as volatile as it currently is. the @justcallmerosey post with clementine giving me ideas tho👀

Dimentio absolutely hates Peasley.

Why?

Because Dimentio wants to manipulate Luigi to his side but given how much of a crush Luigi has on Peasley and how the Bean Prince treats him so kindly and affectionately, his manipulative influence won't stick as well as it did with Mr L and he hates that.

You know, while I don't talk a lot about them, I absolutely love Peasley and Luigi together because it's one of the only Luigi ships where we have canon moment of Peasley thinking the world of Luigi, especially compared to most of the other characters (apart from a few like Mario and Peach) who regularly make fun of Luigi or pick on him.

Imagine how Luigi has trouble at first receiving so much affection but most of all, respect. Actual consideration. Peasley occasionally finds Luigi's antics funny but in a way that still shows obviously how highly he thinks of him. If Luigi stumbles and falls on his nose, Peasley doesn't find it funny because it's expected from the goof of the bunch, he finds it funny because Luigi still managed to save the McGuffin from breaking despite the odds.

When Luigi is around Peasley, his self-confidence soars. Deep down, he's always hoping for praise and unlike many others, Peasley doesn't wait until he's done something epic to compliment him, Peasley just finds him amazing the way he is, and applauds loudly when Luigi successes in something.

And yeah. Obviously in this situation, Dimentio, who was counting on exploiting Luigi's insecurities and his need to prove himself to a world constantly mocking him, won't have as much traction with a Luigi who knows that even outside of his family, there are people who respect him and find him great.

But that's fine. Dimentio just has to switch tactics. Aim his mind games in a different direction. This shiny golden boy of a prince has his own weaknesses, and Dimentio intends to use them to his profit.

I'm HONORED you'd consider making a video about my chart! However, I had some problems with answering this as Tumblr would frequently delete all of my progress. I assume this is because of the answer simply being too long, which is why I'll try to tackle three layers at a time. I will add more parts of the explanation with every reblog. I'm truly sorry but this is the only option.

Just as a little refresher, here's the full chart! Explanations are under the cut because this is gonna be long >:)

Alright let's get into this!

Layers 1 - 3:

Layer 1

-Seven games:

In total there's seven games in the Mario and Luigi series, five original titles (Superstar Saga, Partners In Time, Bowser's Inside Story, Dream Team, Paper Jam) and two remakes (Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions, Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Junior's Journey)

-Striped socks:

On the original artworks for the Mario and Luigi games, Luigi is seen wearing striped socks, something unique to this series. However, the socks haven't shown up in official artwork since Dream Team.

-Luigi running gag:

In the Mario and Luigi games there exists a common running gag that consists of Luigi being underestimated or completely forgotten by other characters. They'll often praise Mario while then either insulting or downplaying Luigi.

-Giant battles:

In Bowser's Inside Story and Dream Team there exists a form of battles known as "giant battles", during which Bowser (in BIS) and Luigi (in DT) turn massive to face off against giant enemies. The player has to flip their DS/3DS horizontally and dodge/fire off attacks by tapping the touch screen. In Paper Jam, there's also a form of battles called "papercraft battles" in which the player controls giant paper figurines, looking similar to the game's characters.

-Superstar Saga on Switch:

On February 8th 2023, Nintendo announced the port of several GBA games to Nintendo Switch Online, with Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga being one of them. Superstar Saga is currently the only title to be playable on Switch.

Layer 2

-Fawful in PIT:

In PIT there exists an optional area right underneath Peach's castle, in which you can observe a mysterious hooded figure. If you follow them with Baby Mario and Baby Luigi, the person reveals himself to be Fawful, who quickly starts telling the babies about his plan for revenge. He starts getting more and more emotional during his speech, but tells the babies that there's no need to worry about him. The player can then pay Fawful with beans in exchange for rare badges. This scene foreshadowes the entirety of Bowser's Inside Story, in which Fawful takes over the Mushroom kingdom, making his plan reality.

-The blorbs:

The blorbs are an illness that plagues the Mushroom Kingdom during the events of Bowser's Inside Story. If a Toad consumes a so called "Blorb Mushroom" they will get infected with the disease, causing their bodies to grow large and round, immobilizing them. The blorbs play an important role in the plot, as the illness is an important part of Fawfuls plan to take over the Mushroom Kingdom. During the end of the game, Dr. Toadley manages to get rid the blorbs, using the Miracle Cure.

-Luisley:

Luisley is the name of a popular ship in the M&L community. It is based on the idea of Luigi and Prince Peasley being in a romantic relationship. The game itself seems to heavily support this idea, as Peasley is often seen paying special attention to Luigi, and Luigi blushing when meeting the prince. This Tumblr post explains it in more detail.

-Gold beanie:

In Superstar Saga and Dream Team you can encounter enemies called Beanies. They're basically just green beans with and evil grin and tiny feet, and they're pretty easy to take down. However there exists a rare golden variant of these enemies, which have a high chance of fleeing every turn. Upon beating one, the playing receives a high amount of experience points as a reward.

-Alphadream filing for bankruptcy:

On October 1st, 2019, Alphadream, primarily known for their work on the Mario and Luigi series, filed for bankruptcy. This was most likely due to high development costs and bad revenue in return. What got the studio into that position in the first place probably were the bad sales of Superstar Saga's remake and Bowser Junior's Journey failing horrendously.

-No PIT remake:

While Superstar Saga and Bowser's Inside Story both received remakes, Partners In Time didn't get to enjoy that treatment. This was most likely due to Inside Story having better sales in comparison and Alphadream wanting to remake the most popular game in the series. However, them skipping the second installment and remaking the third game instead, still seems a bit odd.

-Shroobish:

Shroobish is the language spoken by the Shroobs in Partners In Time. It is written in a different alphabet and is totally indecipherable. The game does translate some words and sentences for the player, most notably the word destroy.

-Beanish and beanies are related species:

This is a popular theory created by fans that isn't mentioned in the game itself. The theory is based on the fact that Beanish and beanies share a lot of similarities, for example wide grins and green skin tone. The theory states that Beanish used to look similar to beanies, but evolved over time into what we know them as today.

Layer 3

-Cover art style change:

Superstar Saga as well as Partners in Time both have very detailed designs for their box art, while from Bowser's Inside Story onward the design is kept much simpler, just having a white background with the characters placed on top of it. It is important to note that the American version of Superstar Saga's remake uses the modern style, while the European version is a direct callback to the original's box art.

-Paper Jam hate:

Paper Jam is easily the least popular game in the series. This is due to the game's lack of original characters and story telling, which makes it stand out negatively when compared to the rest of the series. It had big potential, being a crossover with the Paper Mario series, but barley incorporated any of its elements, ending up as a rather boring M&L title, with Paper Mario as a playable character.

-Carrot minigame:

The carrot minigame is one of the many minigames present in Bowser's Inside Story and it's remake. Due to it's precise touch screen controls it is notoriously frustrating and difficult to beat, especially for younger players, slowly making it gain kind of a meme status amongst the community.

-Cacklebean:

Much like Luisley, Cacklebean is another popular ship in the M&L community, this time pairing Cackletta with Queen Bean. The idea is often backed up by Cackletta seemingly having a lot of knowledge about Beanbean Castle and its secrets, such as the security system surrounding the Beanstar. Queen Bean and the residents of the Beanbean Kingdom also never seem to mention Cackletta in any negative light whatsoever, often just insulting Fawful instead of her.

-Yoko Shimomura:

Yoko Shimomura is a Japanese composer primarily known for her work in video games, including the Mario and Luigi series. She also composed for games such as Super Mario RPG: Legend Of The Seven Starts and Kingdom Hearts.

-Headcanons:

This is a more community focused entry. Fans of the Mario and Luigi series often have a lot of different headcanons, some just adding more depth to certain characters while others change the story in its entirety. Since everyone's headcanons are different, everyone perceives the games differently and every fan stands out in their own unique and special way. -SSS difficulty spike:

The original version of Superstar Saga is kind of notorious for having a really weird difficulty spike with the game being pretty easy over all but then suddenly raising the difficulty out of nowhere before having it decrease again. Some examples of this are Wiggler and Trunkle going down in just a few hits while having much harder battles before and after them, Cackletta in Woohoo Hooniversity being a pretty tough challenge for this point of the game all while having the difficulty decrease again seconds later, and of course the final boss being absurdly hard and coming out of nowhere with the game refusing to prepare you for it at all.

-Popple is suffering from memory loss:

When encountering Popple in Dream Team, he does not recognize Mario and luigi at all, despite mentioning how he had trouble with people looking extremely similar back when he was still in the Beanbean Kingdom.

-Geno in the Fungitown arcade:

In Little Fungitown, the player will encounter Geno from Super Mario RPG while playing the Star 'Stache Smash minigame, where he will moderate the game and explain the rules. Geno is absent from the remake due to him not being owned by Nintendo.

Hmm. With Luigi, his relationships have a good variety. This is probably gonna be a long post...

Daisy is the best of the ladies, but I like either Waluigi or King Boo for the men...or, uh, ghosts? Waluigi is fun because they'd both have mutual pity parties they could help one another with. Waluigi overall has a lot of probably sad and underrated potential, in and out of story context. (Never gonna star in a main game, smh...)

King Boo is like Bowser being obsessed with Mario, just with Luigi, which is all the more entertaining since most villains go ham for Mario, while King Boo would sit there like, "No! Luigi is WAY more appealing...I MEAN A THREAT, I MUST DESTROY HIM!" Not that I've considered that or anything...

For other ladies, I've considered Peach and Rosalina in the past. Though they have more limited chemistry with him than Mario, it's still there. Peach and Daisy feel like they could be paired with the opposite brothers, and I've wondered if they were mismatched in the past. Daisy is bolder and might pair well with Mario's adventurous side, while Peach is softer and sweeter like Luigi. Then again, maybe they balance out one another respectively, hence why Mario/Peach and Luigi/Daisy make more universal sense.

Rosalina, meanwhile, kind of feels like she could be ok with Luigi, but I feel like that's mostly brought about by the one-off treatment they gave her regarding him in Mario Galaxy. After that, it's not really noteworthy between the two. But, they have personalities that mesh together regardless.

Then there are characters from the other games with I guess dubious states of canon. Like, I'd personally love Luigi with Prince Peasley, but he only appears in the story of Superstar Saga and relations. But gooooood, Peasley would be such a fun alternate character to work with, and I'd love to see other royals past Bowser and Peach for mainline, or even past Daisy for spin-offs. (Even if he wasn't a romantic interest for Luigi, he would still be so much fun and so very flamboyant, so that would be a treasure!)

I also would've like to mention Princess Eclair, but like, she went off with the Chestnut King in those stories from Paper Mario, so...nope!

Finally, because of my fanfic, I developed a personal investment in Yoshi as a potential partner for Luigi, which...I admit, has very little support overall. Still, the idea of them seems cute to me! Yoshi tends to be treated as a pet to Mario or Luigi, but I don't think that's the correct way to characterize him, canon or fanon? So, putting him on equal footing as them and then boosting their friendship could be good and from that, well, the potential is there. (Says the leading Bowser/Mario shipper, I know, I know...)

But anyhow, those are my usual suspects to Luigi shipping. It's been like a decade of dealing with it, but I still don't fully get the dynamic of Bowser/Luigi. Lots of people like it because they fit gay male archetypes fairly well, and Luigi fits for those that like him as a substitute for Peach as well. But, I've never considered them over Mario with Bowser instead, and the drama that comes from those two feels more powerful to me.

Others aren't really on the map.

Pauline is worth a mention, maybe, but I don't think they focus on her having a love interest past her history with Mario, which, GOOD. She stands on her own and I'm proud that she came roaring out of the past and forward to the present! (Dream come true for me...now I just need Wart to do the same and I'll feel accomplished somehow!)

E Gadd would probably gross most people out, but that buzzed through my head briefly, so there's a mention. Otherwise, I don't think there's anything much to go for that.

Toad...eh, most people don't even realize he's an adult. Hopefully the movie helped with that? But, I haven't put much stock into that for potential. Limited, but I think doable in a similar vein to Yoshi? Toadette would likely end up in the same place, naturally.

Wario and Donkey Kong don't really interact with Luigi in any special manner like they do for Mario, so I wouldn't really consider either of those. (Though I feel like either would hit the same archetype fulfillment that Bowser does too, so that's at least worth mentioning.)

Hopefully I'm not missing any major names, lol. But yeah, that seems about a longer analysis of Luigi options than I think you were asking for, haha!

Personally, I think that the best options (aka my preferred options) are the earlier mentioned ones, so like, past Daisy: Waluigi, King Boo, or even Peach. Peasley if I can count him on their level.

Whereas the greater conflict and overall drama that surrounds Mario and Bowser for their relationship is what makes their potential dynamic exciting and engaging, Luigi's relationships prime a more introspective look to himself and his partner.

The core is Luigi managing his potential insecurities, and pairing him with someone that likely also has such similar issues, as well as one that would recognize him past everything. Considering the villains getting overshadowed by others (Waluigi gets it from Wario and Bowser, King Boo has the same but mostly from Bowser), they make a lot of sense. After all, they see something in Luigi that no one else will, so, who better than either of them?

Peach herself is nice due to wanting more autonomy from Bowser and Mario, because it feels like her life is too entwined with them. Luigi allows an escape and a chance to help someone who could really use her too, and given that she's a healer type of character, that has a real underrated potential. Peasley could adopt mindsets from both of those, seeing something that no one else does, and could find a welcome respite from his usual lifestyle with someone that he can really retreat away with.

So, yeah! Luigi shipping!

Lil’ P’s Obsession?; Luigi is an “angel”

Peasley hummed ‘Daisy Daisy’ as he gathered powerups in the darklands for his next heist. Sure, he could gather them in the Mushroom Kingdom, but that would lead to Mario wanting to know why he was gathering them in the first place. Besides, there were tons of rare and unique powerups here!

So trespassing on King Boo’s lands it is. Maybe he’d run into one of Luigi’s villains. That would be fun.

Peasley has just another powerup into the basket on his cloud that was already overfilled when a voice pipes up from above in a nearby tree.

“Why are you humming that creepy tune?”

Peasley abruptly stops humming and looks up to see a wannabe jester on a tree branch.

“Its a nursery rhyme and its catchy. It's not my fault movies like A Space Odyssey made it creepier. Now, London Bridges is a creepy tune to hum.” Peasley sassed back.

Dimentio raised an eyebrow behind his mask. He was pretty sure this was one of Luigi’s friends yet the guy didnt even seem concerned that he was near him.

“You… you do know who I am, right?” Dimentio asked just to double check that this was the green guy that hung around Luigi.

“Yeah, you're the demented jester dude that Red Mustache Man still whines about. Nice job getting under his skin by the way. His ‘holier than you’ attitude really grates my nerves.” Peasley laughed.

“Red.. mustashe man? You mean Mario?” Dimentio chuckled.

“Marco, Marice. Whatever his name is. I only learn the names of people who matter. Red Luigi is not worth the effort of learning a name.” Peasley dismissed with a wave of his hand.

Dimentio floats down closer to him. “What brings a hero wannabe like you to a villain’s territory?”

“Eh, Collecting powerups without Red Luigi poking his nose into my business. That guy is such a party pooper and wouldn’t mind his own business if I did this back in the Mushroom kingdom. And if I did it back in the Bean kingdom, my Mother would ground me or something. So, collecting them where Red dude wouldn't check is my best bet.” Peasley frowned. “Besides, I’m not letting Luigi upstage me in annoying his brother, so I need powerups to annoy Red Man while I break as many laws as possible. Maybe I’ll crash one of his hero parties. I don’t know. I just like annoying him. It's fun and it cures my boredom. And who said anything about being a hero? You save your kingdom one time and everyone thinks you want to be some superhero. Please. No thanks.”

“The hero wants to rebel, how cute.” Dimentio pulls out a dagger only for Peasley to roll his eyes and pull out two of his own.

“Did you know, you should always have 22 knives on you at all times? You never know when you need them. And at least half of them need to be poison-tipped. I wanted to have more on my but Luigi and Daisy limited my spending on them because it was starting to raise suspicion on me.” Peasley piped up cheerfully.

“Slow or fast-moving poison?” Dimentio asked, slightly intrigued.

“Both.” Peasley beamed. “Depends on the situation. Do I need to silence someone or do I need them to suffer?”

“You’re awfully violent for someone hailed as a heroic Prince.” Dimentio snorted.

“Well, maybe I’m tired of being labeled as some idiotic hero wannabe by everyone. Nobody sees me for anything but the try-hard hero wannabe and it's annoying.” Peasley clenched his fists. “So when Luigi snapped and decided to take advantage of people underestimating him, I decided to follow suit. Figured I might as well take advantage of it as well.”

“This isnt some game for little boys to play you know. Villianly is a serious profession and-”

Dimentio is cut off by a pouting Peasley who throws his dagger art him.

“Fiesty, huh?” Dimentio mused as he looked at the ornate dagger that embedded the tree next to his head.

Peasley just smiled that innocent smile he had perfected. “I have no idea what you mean, good sir. I’m just a normal upright citizen. I totally don’t plan to be an inconvenience and menace to society.”

“You are a gremlin,” Dimentio concludes.

Peasley’s eyes light up. “You really think so? I tried to perfect my perfect innocent child smile to throw people off. Luigi likes to joke that im a demon spawn.”

Dimentio felt slightly uncomfortable by the look Peasley was giving him. He felt like Peasley was staring at him like a new shiny toy and it was unnerving. “Yeah… sure. You seem really annoying.”

Peasley claps his hands together as he smiles widely. “I like you. You’re so cool. What kind of dagger was that that you pulled out earlier? Is it true that you can easily defeat Red Man? How many knives do you have on you? What's your favorite knife or dagger? Why do you wear that mask all the time?”

Dimentio sweatdropped. He definitely felt uncomfortable now. He should have stayed in King Boo’s Mansion.

“You’re the coolest villain ever, Dimentio-senpai.” Peasley gushed which made Dimentio regret ever getting up today.

Later that Day with Luigi

Luigi sighed as he let the loud casino noises around him blur into white noise. Ever since Waluigi disappeared (aka died), Luigi had to take over some of his shifts at Waluigi’s casino.

Strangely, it is still running even after its owner has gone missing. Just Luigi’s luck he supposed.

Luigi mainly ruins the bar and deals cards. Let it be known Luigi takes his job very seriously. That being said, he also takes his rivalry with the 3 purple nuisances seriously. 

So you can imagine his reaction to overhearing Wario of all people making fun of the three villains about how pathetic they are to lose to a weakling like Luigi. 

He rightfully got passive-aggressive of course.

Luigi hummed as he shook the drink and tossed the shaker into the air. As much as he was clumsy at times, he was rather skilled at making any kind of drink no matter how complicated it got when shaking the drink shaker.

Luigi poured the drink over ice and handed it to the random customer before sighing as he whipped the shaker clean.

His attention was soon drawn to what seemed to be King Boo, Dimentio, and Antasma. They seemed to be arguing with Wario. Luigi told his coworker to cover for him before he silently made his way over to them.

Luigi caught the tell end of Wario’s teasing. 

“You guys call yourselves villains? Don't make me laugh. You guys cant even defeat Luigi and he’s the most pathetic person on the planet. He guy is afraid of his own shadow… yet you guys lose to him? You’re jokes.”

Luigi felt something rather dark bubble up inside of him as he clenched his fists. 

How dare he. HOW DARE HE! His fights with them were not something to laugh at. 

Green lightning cracks around Luigi’s fists as thunder is heard outside despite it not raining.

Dimentio, who knew about the Thunderhand powers due to Mr. L, noticed Luigi first. Dimentio knew something was about to go down.

Luigi cleared his throat as he held a tight smile that screamed murder. Wario turns around to see Luigi with an unusual look on his face.

“I heard you were talking shit about me?” Luigi hissed.

Just then more green lightning strikes outside, hitting Wario’s car. Wario looks over to see through the windows to check for storms only to see his car was on fire.

“Oh, talk about bad luck. I hope that strange lightning doesn't hit your house.” Luigi said sweetly as faint green lightning cackled around his hand.

“You little shit-” Wario goes to attack Luigi, only for Luigi to swiftly sidestep him.

“Dear me, you sir must of had a little too much to drink. You don't think I had anything to do with the unnatural weather do you?” Luigi spoke loudly in a fake innocent tone.

People all around look over to see the angry guy in yellow trying to attack the innocent and wimpy younger brother of Mario. They all saw how Wario tried to blame Luigi for the lightning. No one believed him and a group of people were mad that he would attack defenseless Luigi when he wasn't doing anything.

Within a matter of seconds, customers were trying to drag the irate Wario away from Luigi who had fake tears and an amazing act of fear going on.

“By Wario! I hope you get well from your anger issues soon.” Luigi called out with fake innocence just to sell the point that he was the victim.

Meanwhile with Mario

Mario sighed as he scouted the library for any clues that the two villains might have left behind. He knows Peach’s guards found nothing but it couldn't hurt to double-check just to be sure.

Lil’ P and Lady D seemed to have stolen a magic book and crystal according to Princess Peach. What they needed with those ancient items was anyone’s guess. But Mario knew that villains make mistakes. He just needed to find it.

He will bring down Mr. L and his two sidekicks if it's the last thing he does.

I am sitting next to moniter Miyamoto is being displayed on a video call.

We are currently at a Strikers game, I'm here because I am deciding if I want to take a crack at playing the football/soccer like sport. And Miyamoto was here because he was checking if making a new Mario strikers game.

Right now, it's team Rosalina versus Team Waluigi.

Rosalina had Luigi, Meggy and prince Peasley.

Waluigi had Ashley, Toad, and Merida.

Rosalina's team was who I was rooting for.

And they needed the rooting, they were 10 to 5.

Garth: What is your current opinion of the game?

Miyamoto: I am not entirely sure about the play factor. The energy is there but we might need to cut some characters.

Garth: I mean like from a non game design example, I mean, I don't play this sport, but I can kind of understand it.

Miyamoto: Look, I'm here to check if this would be suitable for a new game. Kopai is looking for the next Mario sports spin-off to come out in a few years, all we have is gold.

Garth: O...Kay. Um...Next question. how does your job work?

Miyamoto: I act as an information ambassador. I check info from Mario adventures the Mushroom Kingdom and Panko, then I provide it to the teams that work on the Mario Games.

Garth: But wait, what about the inaccuracies in the games that come out. Like not to scale environments and dialogue errors and the pop culture that appears.

Miyamoto: We can't have everything one to one, aside from the complex recreation of structures and land marks, there is also licensing and the fact that we can not reveal to much to the planet earth.

Garth: Oh.

Garth: last question before the last half of the game. Why did you say that you were Junior's mom?

Miyamoto: Uh, Well. "Sigh" I am going, to be honest. I don't know and I panicked. I told them I "created" him, so technically, that made me his mom. Since earth only knows me as the creator of the Mario Brothers.

Garth: But you did not crea...

Miyamoto: YES. I KNOW I DID NOT CREATE THE BROTHERS. I MADE THE GAMES BASED ON THEIR LIVES. {Breaths in and out] It is kind of hard to keep secret that there is another world we are trying to let them know about in really small doses.

Garth: Oh... oh, I don't really know to respond to this.

Garth: Can I ask one really quick last question...

Miyamoto: Sigh, Make it quick.

Garth: Okay... [Breaths in and out] When I am SUPER, can I Have Games based on my adventures come out.

Miyamoto: Kid, when I overheard you went missing. Both planets were running news stories at absurd paces.

Garth: Oh...

Miyamoto:... We will keep it in mind. I'm not saying yes.

Garth: Real [gets pelted in the face with a ball].

Peasley: Sorry.

After that, Peasley explained that he was showing of and he thought that the energy barriers were on and keeping the audience safe from any stray shots.

He also asked if he could be in the game (oh yeah, Miyamoto said the game was going to be made).

This devolved into a shouting match.

I then left.

I Checked the score later that night and found that Waluigi's team won.

Go figure.

My Beanish Fan Characters

Made some Beanish characters, too!

Red Beatrice Anrise is a shy young lady who lives and works in Gwarhar Crawfish, a restaurant owned by her father that is one of the most famous food establishments in the Beanbean Kingdom. She is quiet, bashful, and usually doesn't speak unless she is spoken to. She is easily embarrassed, and she is afraid of disappointing people and rejection. When meeting someone new, she gets flustered and nervous, but she will warm up to them if they are nice to her. While she doesn't like to draw attention to herself, Red will want to help if she sees something bad going on. Red has a big soft spot for children. She was oddly born on the same day at the same time as Prince Peasley. She even looks almost exactly like him, except she is a girl and has red hair that she curls. In the restaurant, Red cooks the food, waits tables, and cleans. While Red does love cooking in the restaurant, she’d like to try doing other things, too. (She originally had twin drills, but then I got sued by Vocaloid. Just kidding, but my friend suggested that I change her hair.)

Maizee Chickpea is one of Red's two best friends. She is enthusiastic and polite, although sometimes, she doesn't know what to do or how to respond to her surroundings. She is also helpful, as she gives Red moral support and helps her clean the restaurant sometimes when she visits her there. Maizee enjoys dressing up and photography; she can't seem to live without her favorite camera. She actually wants to be a professional photographer like Kylie Koopa is. 

Velvet Mucuna is a velvet bean and Red's other best friend. Velvet is calm and poised for the most part, but in certain times, she can get overly excited or scared. It is very hard to make her cry and to make her mad. She is a pretty down-to-earth person, and she helps her friends make sensible choices. Her skin often gets itchy, and that is very hard for her to deal with. Velvet likes to sew, act and dance, and she wants a career in anything related to theater.

Garbanzo is the Beanish royal scientist. He was a top student at Woohoo Hooniversity and is one of its most notable alumni, but he has never laughed in his life even once. He is aloof, he is reclusive, he is unemotional and flat, and he is much, much more of a realist than Velvet. He is good at staying calm when dealing with things that make him uncomfortable, like laughter, which explains how he was able to graduate. Garbanzo can get so focused on something that it becomes impossible for him to get out of the zone. His full name is Garbanzo Garbanzo.

Brodi, Barkley and Bessie are Prince Peasley's three younger cousins. They are triplets in second grade who go to live with him and their aunt Queen Bean in the castle from time to time. Brodi is often dressed in red. He is self-assured and confident, and he could be a bit crazy. He is usually not aware of what's going on. Barkley is often seen wearing yellow. He is the smartest of the three and acts as their ringleader. He is a bit of a perfectionist. Bessie often wears blue. She's plucky, she's pretty short-tempered, and she has no impulse control whatsoever. She is quite desperate for attention from her brothers and her classmates. What the triplets have in common is that they like to be together, they have a need for friends, and they can get frustrated over little problems. Try as he may, Peasley doesn't find himself interested in hanging out with them, so he has a pretty rocky relationship with them. 

Snip is Red's father and the founder and owner of Gwarhar Crawfish. While Snip has great communication skills that come from talking to his employees, he is somewhat impulsive and impatient. He feels very strongly about the idea of his daughter taking over the restaurant someday. He clings onto his thoughts and ideas pretty tightly, so he has a little bit of trouble learning to let go. Snip is canonically neurodivergent. Hari is kind and humble. She supports her daughter's interests, helps her family handle new things, and acts as a voice of reason to her husband whenever she notices that he is going too far. She encourages conversation and open communication.

Gwarhar Crawfish was founded from Snip's aspirations for cooking and the inspiration he took from his family's recipes for Cajun cuisine. The name comes from the time when Snip realized how much he loved cooking. At that time, he was fishing in Gwarhar Lagoon when he caught a lot of crayfish. This was impressive to its residents to because the crayfish were hard to find and hard to catch. He decided to boil it for lunch for them like his parents would for him, and they came out great to the residents.

In my version of M&L, Peasley is actually quite a rocker and he's in a band, so I thought I'd draw out his bandmates. The main reason I made them is because I wanted to create some best friends for Peasley to expand on his life more.

Barkley is part of a boy scout troop called the Navy Bean Skippers, and Peasley brings him to their meeting place on Tuesdays and Thursdays after Barkley's school day. While Barkley does activities with his sailor-themed troop, Peasley goes to meet his friends in other room to play Beanstalks & Banshees with them. They're there because they also have smaller relatives who are scouts. The Adamantine Conquerors is the name of their band, which was started by Jacklin, who also usually acts as the Beanstalk Master. Peasley's class is a paladin.

Jacklin is a lima bean, so his skin is noticeably a lighter shade of green. He is easily excitable and encouraging, but he's also too openly honest and can sometimes be timid. Fantasy is what he claims to be his reason for living; he goes to the library to check out fantasy novels often. He owns all of the group's B&B stuff, and he's written most of their adventures. He is the bassist and founder of the band. I ship Jacklin with Red, who will eventually meet him and fall in love with him. His name is based on Jack and the Beanstalk. He first started playing B&B as a bard because he also loved music. 

Soren is a kidney bean who is interested in fortune telling and learning about magic, but hir main career path is working as a tattoo artist. Ze's pretty clumsy, shy and sometimes lazy, but ze's still smart, and ze really knows hir stuff when it comes to storytelling. When Jacklin doesn't feel like the story he's got is working, Soren often helps him improve it. Ze doesn't like too much technology. Ze is dating someone named Basil. Ze is named after the Eye of Sauron, and ze plays the lute. Ze identifies as genderqueer. Hir class is a wizard. 

Reese is a black turtle bean who mans the "Days Without Peasley Making It All About Him" chart. It doesn't like disrespect and can blow up at people who are hateful towards it or its loved ones. It's a peaceful person; it would be a good Christian child who goes to church every Sunday if it was real. Reese plays the flute for the band, and it is also part of a marching band called the Marchers of Mirth. Its name is Reese to rhyme with peace. It identifies as androgynous. Its class is a cleric. 

Misty is a black-eyed pea. That's not makeup or eye contacts; that's the way her eyes naturally look. She likes to act mysterious and cool, and she's pretty funny, but she is a little bit insecure and doesn't always know what she's doing. She works in a clothing store; she aims to become a fashion designer for everyone who wants to freely express themselves. She is the band's drummer. Her class is a rogue.

“Don’t feel like joining in?” 

Luigi couldn’t help but jump from the sudden voice. Eyes pulling away from the large dance floor, offering a sheepish smile to the Beanish Prince. “Ah, no. I-I’m not really one for…dancing. I’m pretty sure I have two left feet.”

Peasley gave a gentle laugh before taking a seat next to the green dressed hero. Who immediately tensed up.

“Nonsense, I’ve seen the way you battle. Elegant, light on your feet. Dancing is just another way to move.” 

“I don’t really focus in a battle. I mean, I do! But I’m more worried about reaching the end of it making sure everyone’s safe and well. But dancing…all I can focus on there is just…messing up. How weird I look while trying not to look down at my feet. All the steps just vanish from my mind and I know I look goofy and all I can think about is how people are laughing at me and-”

Luigi let out a small yelp as he was cut off from his rambling. Being pulled up from his seat by the Beanish Prince. Who flashed a smile before leading the human over to the dance floor. Pointedly ignoring Luigi’s nervous babbling. Their shoes soon clipped against the wooden area. 

Peasley properly faced Luigi. Gently taking the human’s chin in his finger to direct Luigi to look at him. “Just breathe, no one’s going to bother you while I’m here.” 

That immediately relaxed Luigi, who offered a small smile in return. Hands going to where they needed to be before Peasley took the lead. 

It was an awkward start. Luigi feels like his legs are wooden planks, feet like concrete. But the feeling fell away when Peasley effortlessly twirled the hero. Both laughing softly after the shock wore off from Luigi. 

He was sure his form wasn’t the best. And that people were watching them. Either from his stiff movements or the fact he was actually dancing with Prince Peasley. 

But Luigi didn’t care. Because he was solely focused on Peasley that the rest of the world fell away. His warm brown eyes and blueish blush perfectly framed his wide smile. 

Luigi felt bold and pressed their foreheads together, beaming. 

Peasley happily accepted this.

5, 6, and 7?

Dropping Neon J off of this because I need more memories from that canon before I do something like this with that kintype. Other than that, this is all my kintypes.

5. Who did you not get along with? I feel like a lot of these are more obvious, but... Ghost: Zote needed to tone down his ego, but we were okay-ish most of the time. Luigi: This kintype has so many weird situations and I know most people either know or can find out about most of them so I'll go down some of the less obvious of the list. Bowser was okay, despite the fights. We all fought a lot but we got along okay. Blixer: Pretty much anyone who counts as a player shape or a "hero" or whatever you call them. I usually call them by color first name, shape last name. Spamton: I'm pretty sure everyone in Cyber City, and maybe in Cyber World, has disliked me at one point or another. Of my siblings specifically, though, I tended to get in arguments with Rose the most. Leif: Mothiva, for obvious reasons. Zasp was okay, if a little too dedicated to her to get along with properly. Ingo: Emmet and I didn't interact with many outside of our subway routes. While there were certainly some unruly trainers who did not care about our plans for the battle trains, we still got along with most visitors and passengers, in the end. MSPA Reader: Zebruh. Probably others but that's the first name I thought of for this question. Mad Rat: Rat God, who I wish had a different name to call her by.

6. Who do you hope you’ll find? Prefacing this with that I haven't been actively looking for or interacting with people recently. Sorry if you felt ignored for a while, I've been really busy writing and drawing. Hopefully I can work on more as we go into fall! Ghost: My siblings. Pretty much any of them. Luigi: Mario, Princess Peach, Princess Daisy, Prince Peasley, Bowser, and probably a few others as well. Blixer: To be honest, I hope I find the hero shapes so I can see if maybe we can get along better this time. Spamton: My siblings, and maybe Swatch? I'm still trying to figure out if I'm still as close to canon as I had been. Leif: Anyone from either of my teams. Ingo: Emmet, primarily. MSPA Reader: I'm not really sure right now. Mad Rat: Heart. My Heart, specifically - I know a Heart, but he's not my Heart, and we have an agreement that if we find doubles, we'll ask about what kind of canon our doubles have. I haven't had much luck yet, though, and neither has he, I think.

7. Who do you hope you’ll never see again? Ghost: I don't care to see The Pale King or The Radiance again. Not in a "I don't want to see you" way but in a "If I do see you, I'm not likely to care much" way. I might be a little tense around you but who knows? We can probably work through it. It's a new life, right? Luigi: Surprisingly I'm actually ok with most of the people I used to be iffy about. Blixer: There's a surprising amount of people who want to hurt the villains of their stories, and I'd like to avoid anyone like that. Spamton: Similarly, anyone that wants to hurt me, particularly those that want that for Weird Route reasons. If you have a canon where Weird Route could've or did happen, I'm probably not your canonmate! It was literally impossible for me to be involved in that, in my canon. Leif: Not sure. Ingo: Also not sure. MSPA Reader: See last two answers. Mad Rat: I might be okay with Rat God under certain circumstances, but I don't know that I or whoever could make those circumstances happen.

oh absolutely and i hope you’re alright with L/sley because that is ALL i’ve been able to focus on lately… oh yeah- this is still also the “Peasley But He’s In SPM” alternate universe.

Mr. L grumbled as he slammed open the door to his workshop. Taking off his hat in a single flourish, he crushed it in a fist and threw it over on his workbench. Plopping himself down in a swivel chair, he rolled over to the bench, pulling out the blueprints for his latest Brobot model and laying them out.

He really hoped everyone appreciated all the laborious work that went into perfecting the prowess of his dearest metal brother. Lugging that thing back to the castle through several dimensional doors had not been easy.

An impishly mischievous voice stirred L from his work.

“Awww. What’s the matter, L-sie?” Mimi peeked her head in the room, looking smug. “Did the heroes totally toast you?”

“Out!” L barked quickly. He rubbed at his temples. “You know I can’t focus when I’ve got distractions…”

“Oh yeah?” Mimi invited herself in. “Then what is it that made you so distracted during your last fight?”

“Huh?”

“O’Chunks kept telling me you were all grumbly and red when you got back..."

L’s cheeks lit up immediately. He thought no one had seen him. “I... was... I was angry… obviously."

"Uh-huuuuh..." Mimi’s satisfied smile didn’t leave her face as she got closer, sitting at L’s side. She pulled up a stool and sat down.

"Those juniors-! If I had just been able to show them the true potential of my most amazing creation…”

He finished, but Mimi was still leaning in. Her expression was expectant.

“Hmph. Don’t you have anything better to do?” L asked as he took out some new gloves that were free of oil and grease stains, slipping them on. He started tinkering, screwing in a bolt. “Nastasia said we’re having a meeting soon. You better go get a new outfit on, or whatever it is you do…”

“Aww, c’mon, grumpy-pants! I like knowing about my local coworker drama! So, what happened out there?”

L blushed. “It’s nothing.”

“Oh my gosh…!” Mimi squealed. “Are you blushing?”

“What?!”

“I knew it! You’re crushing on one of those heroes!”

“No!"

“Don’t tell me… is it the princess? Wait, wait, is it the reptile?”

“No! No!” L glared at Mimi, his blush deepening. He slammed his hands down. “Can you please leave?!”

“Oh my gosh. I know exactly what it is! You like the prince,” she corrected herself with an astonished gasp. “Don’t you?”

“I-“ Mr. L crossed his arms. “No.”

“Oh, my, gosh!” Mimi’s gasp grew in intensity. She excitedly clapped her hands together. “You totally do! What did he do, L? Did he totally drive you wiiii-ld?”

“No! No. He just… he… ugh, he and his goody-two-shoes self… he’s just so… so full of himself!”

“Hehe…” Mimi leaned on her hand, her voice raising an octave. “That certainly sounds familiar…” She spoke in a sing-song.

L shot daggers into Mimi’s eyes.

“You totally fell for him, didn’t you?”

L scoffed. “Really? Me? Falling for some gross hero? A pompous hero with… with a perfect head of perfect blonde hair and a perfect round face and his perfect... his stupid bright smile and-“ He buried his face in his hands, blushing madly, yelling loudly in annoyance. “Gah! Stop making me think about him!”

Mimi giggled. “Well if you ever need any boy-catching tips…”

“I don’t!” L hissed. “Get outta here!”

He shooed her away, Mimi giggling all the while. As soon as he got her out of his space and he was alone, he fell back over his workbench. His mind stumbled back to his failed battle against the heroes. He couldn’t stop thinking about it.

He couldn’t stop thinking about him...

L caught himself quickly, but his mind was stuck.

“It seems we’ve bested you, ruffian.” The green-skinned man had been standing at the forefront of the group. He’d leaned down, a coy smile on his face. “Care to surrender...?”

The way he held himself up with such an aura of confidence drove L mad. He always stood with a kind of bold poise that L both envied and admired. His straight posture was always perfect, with his golden locks shining brilliantly in the florescent Whoa Zone lighting...

Grambi, no wonder he was so distracted. How hard was it to admit that he HAD fallen for him? There was something about him, like he’d met him in a dream before, or something, like a true fairytale prince...

L could feel his teeth grinding in his jaws as he remembered that snide, conniving grin. He grumbled, burying his head in his crumpled hat, refusing to show his blush to the world. In that moment, he realized just how far he'd fallen.

He shoved his face on the desk and screamed, flustered beyond belief.

From just beyond the doors to his workshop, Mimi listened with a smile, giggling as she walked away. Having confirmed L's crush in her mind, she departed. The next time they met with the heroes, Mimi couldn't wait to play matchmaker.
