Reins Update: So, do you want the good news or the bad news?
sorry in advance if this reads like a wet newspaper there's a lot and i'm a lover not a writer
Alright nerds, here's my most recent update in the Battle of the Reins:
Good news! Apart from fixing some weights where the reins meet the bridle (still figuring that out but that's just a skill issue on my end), its super easy to attach reins to your bridle mesh! Take a look at this bad boy:

Even better news: with this method, the reins now share the bridle section of the UV map, so even in this case where I just slapped them into @studiosweetpeacc 's bridle cc, apart from moving the reins map onto the bridle, I didn't have to do anything extra in regards to swatches! yay!
(basically the reins r now a part of the bridle mesh but you have to copy the rein weights from the reins CAS item *the horse ranch version, not the one w the base game symbol*. I've also made the default reins invisible so they're still technically there. That's to stop them from clipping with the new, better, cooler reins.)
Great stuff we're all delighted! Good reins are on the way for us all!
Except, here's the bad news:
Since the reins aren't supposed to be applied, this is what they look like by default.
There's only one proper fix for this as far as I can see. In order to sort this teeny tiny issue out, I'll have to basically edit every single animation clip that the horse uses where the reins sit like this by default. Basically every unmounted clip.
The package of those files alone, unedited, is about 26MB and some bits.
That's like...a lot.
I think.
My potential compromise is this. I'd edit the CAS poses so the reins don't look janky while you make your horse. I'd also edit the pose the horse uses between shaking on the tack and entering the mount animation (that's the pose you see here),as well as the pose they enter between dismounting and shaking off the tack. There's also the 'being thrown off' pose you might have seen in my previous post, I think those are the ones we'd see most often that require fixing.
The reins will still hang like this for basically every other thing the horse does while tacked up (but not being ridden), but it means a much smaller file.
Also, bridles with no reins attached will still work for those people who take stud/confirmation pics of their horses, so no worries about them getting in the way.
(small caveat to this: because the default reins r hidden, they won't pop up when the sim mounts the horse unless you change the bridle to one with reins attached)

I think that concludes my report. I had no idea it would be this complicated (and to be fair it might not be but this is very new to me so I got lost quite a bit), but I hope that this helps with getting some nice tack!

how sawamura, miyuki, yuki, and kuramochi text (friends + s/os)
will most likely do a part 2 with more boys at a later date! these got freakishly long because i am, at my core, a very mad. also might revisit as i get re-familiar with the characters, i just had this idea floating around in my head. also the way these got pro
sawamura eijun
no matter who he texts, it’s always extremely extra. not only does he always give more information than you asked for – ex. if you text him wya? he will give you a play by play of his entire route or something
he also uses tons of emoticons. and yes I do mean emoticons, baby boy has a flip phone. ifhe does eventually get a smart phone, then this boy overuses tf out of emojis. he’s the sort of person that sees someone use a combination of emojis he likes and then tries to copy them, but uses it completely incorrectly, but its v cute.
if you send him a meme, he will respond with an unnecessary amount of hahas.
when he’s texting his lil bae, they’re always on his mind so he ofc texts them every thought that comes to his mind! when he sees something that reminds him of you, he won’t hesitate to share it with you.
if you have been together for a long time, then we will definitely text you words of affirmation and be very honest/blunt about how he feels about you. he’s also always sure to ask you about your day - and he seriously cares. but i still i feel like with a s/o he would prefer facetime to texting just because he likes to see you :)
overall, a very adorable texter and his enthusiasm is just as contagious when texting as it is in person. he’s kind of clueless so he doesn’t pick up on subtext. so be blunt, just like he will be with you~
kuromochi youichi
my bias might be showing here, but I feel like he is one of the most well-adjusted boys in terms of being ready for a serious relationship tbh (at least post-high school). i mean we all saw that he regularly corresponded with wakana wish that were me lmao
i think he would most often use proper capitalization, but not to the point where he uses a period after every text
would send his friends news articles about his favorite fighting games where u like gaming or not
a meme fiend in general. the sort of person who uses reaction images of people he knows. (if you’re dating, he would still have a stash of funny pics/screenshots of you on ft, but he’d ofc only use them with you <3). his convos with his friends are rarely serious
i don’t think he’d be the type to text haha out loud, but he does use LOL on occasion. with close friends/his lil bae he might send a voice memo of him laughing hysterically if you send him something REALLY funny. ugh my annoying king <3
unlike eijun he’s the king of being perceptive / picking up subtext.
similarly, i do think he’s pretty reliable, but for friends i feel like he might make a lil bit of a stink lmao. like lets say a friend wants him to pick something up for them, he might play like he won’t do it then miraculously shows up with the requested item. its giving tsundere vibes on the low.
with his partner: i feel like he would use emojis when he’s trying to be ~cute~. i think with a established partner he’d be pretty flirty still but he’s v much whipped for his partner so its way more mushy than it would be early in the relationship.
yes your name has hearts/stars in his phone. mans is a SAP for you
his love language is more quality time imo, so I think he values time spent with you over texting time. so a lot of your texts might be asking you to come over to hang out / get a meal or vice versa
like eijun he wants to hear about YOU, and is very supportive and good at advice when he wants to be. he can be goofy but this is how he shows you he cares/sees you as more than a friend
he’s a blushy/shy boy with his s/o esp early in the relationship, so he might be hesitant or nervous to say “i love you” or anything like that outright, but you know anyway, which just makes the times when he does outright say it that much sweeter.
miyuki kazuya
i mean it goes without saying that this man is snarky. he’s not a meme king himself but he enjoys when people send them to him and will usually play off the meme to make his own jokes.
i feel like he also likes deep-fried memes or the very abstract, post-modern memes. miyuki is good at making other people laugh, but he has a generally very-off brand humor and the things that make him cackle hardest are either at someone else’s expense (very similar to kuramochi, so they bond a lot over that) or just indiscernible without access to a huge layer of context/background
saves the reaction photos kuramochi sends him, but doesn’t usually use them. but seeing an ugly pic of eijun yelling never fails to make him grin LMAO
i think he also texts A LOT about baseball, even more so than these other baseball dummies. texts his teammates a lot of articles he reads or clips from games/cool plays. this is mostly about texts, but in terms of social media I think miyuki uses twitter/instagram the most especially for baseball related reasons, while kuramochi uses snapchat the most.
he probably texts a lot about baseball as well, both seriously and playfully
i can see him using hahas and LOLs in equal measure, but he would also utilize the haha reaction if he had an iphone. this boy does value his wit so he would definitely have commentary about any memes or jokes he’s sent
you won’t win a joke war against him, he will definitely one-up whatever you send him with either a one-liner or another joke. how tf does he do it?
definitely ignores people/conversations if he really wants to - but ofc he never does that to his BAE
if miyuki give you a dry one-line response...he’s not interested at all or he’s feeling frustrated about something else. but when he’s really happy? he will text his friends all the time and spam them! i see him as someone who enjoys texting when he has the attention span/state of mind for it. and when he’s texting his s/o his texting gets even more ~flavorful~
wit his lil bae: i don’t think miyuki would switch it up much w his s/o. is probably even more teasing with you over text than he is with his friends, which is saying something.
like talking with you just by nature of you being his partner. prob prefers texts to facetime because text kinda allows for maximum snark
he LIVES for you guys’ witty back and forth
if he’s traveling for work or something, will definitely relish in you guys binge texting a tv show or something but just making funny commentary (or he’ll just send you funny commentary to get a reaction)
he can dish it and he’s also not a super sensitive guy so he can take it tenfold from you as well. nothing y’all wouldn’t be used to when talking in person!
sometimes when texting him you’ll want to beat his a*s because he can be so cheeky but its endearing in a way. he definitely adds emojis to the end of his more annoying messages to give it that loveable vibe (and it works ofc, we love u miyuki)
he’s kinda clingy on the low so i think he’d prefer a partner that’s more open with their affection via text than he is. he would live for your random ilys or whatver throughout the day. also would not mind at all if you updated him on your actions throughout the day or sent him snaps - might not be able to respond to everything, but will react and appreciate it. very likely to make jokes about whatever you’re doing.
would also apologize over text. he’s not always used to apologizing can be awkward about it, so text makes it easier for him.
he would use emojis w you in a joking/ironic way. would absolute use those dumb but genius emoji combinations
yuki tetsuya
i’m literally cracking up thinking about texting him. he is one of my ultimate baes but im sorry i just know he texts dry asf. but its part of his charm!
has a flip phone. either never upgrades or gets the chunkiest most basic android if he is forced to
the thing is this man thinks that he is infusing all his texts with, like, tajin level seasoning, when in reality its pepper
uses punctuation. always. exclamation marks are used sparingly to express excitement.
but i can’t get the image out of my head of an upset tetsuya texting you a simple angry emoji (or the angry emoticon >:( LOL) if he’s reeeeeeally mad. but its v cute i can’t take him seriously. i just want to give him a hug <3
but you know what he is so PASSIONATE about whatever he’s talking about that his passion bleeds into his text through sheer quantity of words and depth of thought. ultimately, all his conversations end up being extremely flavorful in terms of content. he is surprisingly good at having deep conversations over text.
he’s better at holding conversations with more extroverted personalities, truthfully.
he’s another one who sends random things to people when he thinks about them. miyuki of course gets so many texts/thoughts about shogi. if you get a random haiku, poem, or quote from testu, that means you’re blessed enough to be in his inner circle! he definitely thought of you when he read it and and wants you to respond!
with bae: he doesn’t really change up his texting style tbh, but he has a stronger outward reaction to what YOU text in response.
definitely the type to smile almost imperceptibly at his phone as he texts you, even if you send him something like “hey i’m at the store, want anything?”
he’s not great as verbal affection early in the relationship, so you’ll have to discern his love/affection. however baby boy is NOT afraid to just straight up say he loves you, he does it all the time and early.
he’s KNOWN for being reliable and responsible, so he will be at your beck and call when he’s able to for anything you need, but his heart is also warmed by the thought of you reciprocating that care. if your texts show him you’re thinking of him just like he does too. he’s very gentle and sweet, and checks up on you when he’s able to see if you need anything at all.
he might be reliable, but that doesn’t mean that he’s the quickest guy to respond to texts. he’s a busy guy, and he doesn’t think about his phone all the time, but he will always get back to you (bae does not play when it comes to completing things).
if they came up with a shogi game for gamepidgeon and tetsu had an iphone, your phone probably would be spammed with requests for games lol.
this is my first time doing headcanons like this so please let me know what you think or give me tips on how to improve! I really enjoying thinking about it so I hope to do more in the future <3

She’s tricky to take good pics of cos often when she notices the phone she’ll get up to come way too close for photos cos she wants to rub her face on the phone, so in a lot of photos she’s like tired or looking away which yeah makes her look kinda done with everything 😂
And for a new update, she seems to like being able to explore a way bigger house than the small two bedroom apartment she normally lives in haha!

A Post about Patchy
Hey would you like to read a lot of words about and see some pics of this cat? Because I’m going to do that below this cut.
Don’t worry, longtime followers, this is a happy post.
Those of you who have been following me since 2014 or before may remember Patchy. I don’t talk about her much on the blog, but I think it’s time.
If you were worried this may be a post-mortem post, don’t be. She’s happy and healthy.
The pic above was taken in October 2010. It’s the earliest picture I have of Patchy. By this point I had already known her for about a year.
Back in like 2009, around the time I got Cebu, when I started actually looking out in my backyard, I realized that there were several cats who hung out back there at night. I just have a chain link fence in my yard so it’s not surprising they could easily jump it from the alley or side yards, and I have a pretty large patio with some comfy patio chairs, so I guess it seemed like a good spot for them to hang, since I wasn’t out there much.
I wouldn’t know that TNR was a thing for awhile, and since I have a soft spot for cats, I’d leave them out some kibble, I’d just buy a bag of the cheapest stuff at the grocery store and throw a cup out a night to keep them from starving to death back then. There were often 5 or so cats back there, and if I’d have known then what I know now, I would have started TNR way earlier.
The cats would come and go, and there were so many that I just called them by identifying characteristics. “Brown-nosed tabby” and “Tuxedo” and “Orangie” or whatever. So this Calico just became “Patchy” since she has patches of color. For awhile, she was just one of that gang.
Cats would disappear, new ones would show up. Patchy and Moustachio, a shorthaired B&W cat with a mustache, were around the longest. I’m not sure what happened to most of the other cats, I’m sure they got hit by cars and picked up by the pound and other unpleasantness. I had to dispose of a few myself.
Patchy, somehow, kept surviving. Although there were a few times when she’d disappear for weeks at a time and I guessed that was the end of her, but she’d show up later all skin and bones, and then I’d switch her to my cats’ expensive, grain-free food and even give her wet food to get her back on her feet. Once she even showed up bloody with a very scary gash on her head. Not being able to touch her to put like, neosporin or something on that was killing me and I did what I could to help her recover, which was mostly just making sure she had plenty of good food and water. She made it.
And in these first few years, several times, kitten litters showed up in my backyard.
Cebu... get out of the way. (He was always real good about knowing exactly where to be for being in the way. I miss him so much.) (Pics taken in May, 2013.)
Ah, yeah, there’s Patchy with two litters of kittens, one of which was hers and the others were her own grandchildren. I rescued two out of those eleven and still kick myself for not doing more.
After having to clean up a few of her messes and over a few years saving over a half dozen of her kittens, and not saving many more, I decided it was time to do something about this. I started by getting her to trust going into my house.
My master bedroom has a sliding glass door to the patio. (The door you see there goes into the garage, sliding glass door is to the right.) So I started trailing food into the house and into the master bathroom to get her to explore there, and under the bed so she saw a safe place to hide. I’d then hanging out in the bedroom reading and letting her come in to explore the inside. I got her to understand there was food and clean water, and shelter there.
I thought I wasn’t far enough along with trusting me when she was pregnant once again in spring, 2014. But one night she did run right inside the house when I opened the sliding glass door to let Cebu out, climbed into the lining that had been ripped out a bit under my bed, and set up camp. For the next few months, she lived there. I contacted a feral rescue group in my area who agreed to let me foster the kitties and they’d get them adopted, then loan me a trap to get Patchy TNR’d. So that was a relief.
Also? Patchy picked the spot where she wanted to “go”, and after I cleaned up that first mess I put a litter box there and she took right to it, have NEVER had a litter issue since.
The long, and complete story about the next few months can be found on my Rescue Kitties tag, with many many pictures and updates. But I’ll still post a few, and a summary.
She never came out from beneath the bed if I was in the room, but I would go hang out with her when I got home from work every day, lay on the floor and sing to her and talk to her, give her yummy wet food, and sometimes, if she felt frisky, she’d play laser pointer with me when I would lay in bed before sleeping at night, always on the floor, never daring to get on the bed. That’s fine.
In April 2014 one morning I awoke to kitten noises.
She was such a good momma to those kittens. After the first day & night in the birthing box I set up for her, and she did even let me change out the towel (but got real mad when I tried to move the food bowl slightly away), she brought the babies back under the bed and I’d have to peek and use my camera to even see them.
Eventually, they got old enough to get curious, they came out to play, and she let me play with them and socialize them.
And after a few more weeks, the babies went to the rescue group, and found their forever homes.
It took TWO MORE WEEKS of making Patchy very unhappily live inside before I could get her into a trap, so she could be TNR’d. Although she was OK with me touching the babies, touching was strictly off-limits for HER.
But hey! We did it! She went and got TNR’d, got a clean bill of health... and went back outside.
I didn’t see her for like two weeks, and when she came back she was skin and bones, and decided that maybe it was OK to be back here and let me give her food again, after all.
And then for the next year or so, well, if it were really hot or cold or storming outside, when I’d let Cebu out before bed, maybe she’d decide to spend the night under the bed, after all. But she wanted to go back outside during the day. That’s fine. The other cats hated being locked out of the bedroom sometimes, but they got used to it.
Slowly, throughout 2014 and 2015 her inside stays got a little longer and a little longer. It was too hot or too cold out for days at a time, then weeks at a time.
The worst part about this time is that she’d get fleas. And then Cebu would get fleas, and then Jim, Leela, Fry and Pemily would have fleas. And then I’d have to do an expensive round of flea meds on all 5 of the inside pets, and not being able to touch Patchy to give HER meds was a problem until I found some like, garlic pills online that I’d mash into her wet food and give to her. Luckily, between that and flea-powdering (the vacuuming) the carpets, the fleas would be taken care of. I think I went through this three times. Eventually I just started giving her a flea pill once a month. I didn’t love doing it because apparently some cats have bad reactions, but it was that or... stop letting her into the house because I couldn’t keep exposing the rest of the pets to fleas. Luckily, it worked.
Of course when Cebu died at the end of 2016 I had a lot less reason to ever go to the backyard, so, she had a lot fewer chances to try and go outside, anyway. But it’d been awhile before that since she’d go out. I used to leave the door open enough for Cebu to go out and come back in during nice days, and she wouldn’t bother most of the time. And usually, even when she did, she’d be back inside for bed.
She did get out for like two minutes once last year, but she made it to the end of the backyard, saw I was going back inside, and ran back to me and inside all on her own after that.
She’s at least ten years old now, I think she’s happy to be settled.
I feel bad that she lives her entire life in one room. I’ve tried a few things to see if she wants to integrate. Pemily is my most social and outgoing and friendly cat, and also she is literally Patchy’s granddaughter, and several times Pemily has managed to sneak her way into the bedroom, she’s very wiley. Patchy DOES NOT LIKE IT. Usually within 10 minutes there are growls, spits and hisses. Once or twice Pemily has made it into the bedroom without me noticing, and I’ll find her sitting by the door VERY READY to leave when I go back in. Patchy and Fry would never get along, and she’d probably bully Leela, so... she’s a bedroom cat.
We still play laser pointer, I made sure we has a few hunting-type toys, which are the only thing she responds to. I’ve tried several “enrichment” toys that the other cats like, stimulation toys, hiding toys, a mini-cat tower that she only uses the brush on, special places to lay down... whatever. I also bought her a life-sized stuff cat for companionship and NOPE, she hissed at it. I left in in the room just in case she gets used to it and she ignores it. She doesn’t really care. She likes to hunt fake mice and the laser pointer, everything else is “Meh.”
She used to dump her water out all the time and I realized she likes to drink moving water, so I put Cebu’s water fountain in there and she loves it. She has the view of the backyard from the sliding glass doors she spends a lot of time looking out at. She has crunchy food always and gets some wet food when I get home from work, I spend a few minutes with her when I come home from work every day and at least an hour hanging out in bed watching shows and playing laser pointer... and she seemed happy.
In January, 2016 I woke up one night and found a warm lump next to my feet.
It may have been a little earlier than that, but not much. Patchy figured out that it’s more comfy ON the bed (well, she had been sleeping up there when I wasn’t in the room before then, but never while I was there) and hey, humans are warm! Actually now that I look at it, I think this pic was taken in the afternoon, so maybe this was one of the first times she came onto the bed when she knew I was awake. (Hey, I’m big on weekend afternoon naps.)
Further strides.. were slow, but measured. The first time she’d come up on the bed while I was sitting up. The first time she walked on me when I was laying on my side. The first time she walked on my stomach and smelled my face. Figuring out that sleeping higher up on the legs is even warmer. Figuring out that purring and making biscuits on the human’s leg was really nice. Oh man, I cried the first time she made biscuits and I heard her purring. That was probably early 2017.
I had a few aborted attempts at trying to touch / pet her, including thinking she was Pemily while I was still half alseep. These always lead to setbacks that took awhile to get that trust back.
After awhile, she’d sometimes even do stuff like... this.
This was a huge deal because it was the first time I had even thought to record her and she just came right up and said hi, and she laid there for like 20 seconds while I talked to her.
And then I asked her if she wanted pets, and she immediately backed off.
But hey, she backed off to go do this...
So it wasn’t so terrible. A little biscuit making before settling down to hang out.
I decided about a year ago, that to move forward, what I needed was to get her used to my hands. So I began Operations: Hands are OK! For literally the last year, every day I just try to spend a few minutes with my hands somewhere near her when she settles in. And I started trying TINY PETS on her paws when she was relaxed. This was a gamble because most cats hate having their paws touched. But she could see my fingers touching her paws, and tiny gentle paw strokes that did not hurt were something she could control, and remove her paws from. Which usually she did, and at first she’d get up and move, but eventually, she’d just tuck her paws under.
Sometimes... even something like this would happen...

I also let her sniff my hand any time she was close enough, and she got used to that, I started using it as a greeting. She was totes OK with touching any part of me that was covered up with a blanket at this point. So I’d also put my hand under the blanket sometimes and then under her paws or side. She didn’t like this much, either, but would tolerate it in small bursts.
I was patient with her and tried to not push her boundaries too much.
The thing is, though, she has not been to the vet since getting TNR’d in 2014, and she’s now at least 10 years old. I don’t want to take her if it’s going to set her back, and I don’t want to someday have her be sick and still terrified of my hands, of touch, so... I pushed forward.
The last few months... I started feeling like she knew she wanted something else, but she didn’t know what she wanted or how to ask for it. So I went for pets with the back of my hand a few times, slowly, letting her know where my hand was at all times and she’d... run away after a short brush.
She’d hang out... close, like this, though. Looking at me like... “I need something. What is it that I need?”
Less than two weeks ago, on June 12, I had to wake up at 4am for a work thing, made it back to bed at 6:15ish, then woke up, oops, an hour later than I meant to around 9am. I really needed to get up and get to work, but woke up to Patchy laying with me, then when she saw I was awake she climbed up to my stomach, purring.
“Okay, we’re gonna try pets again,” I said to her, and showed her the back of my hand. She sniffed it, then I lightly brushed it against her side. She didn’t move.
“Okay, we’re gonna do that again,” I said, and for 4 or 5 strokes, she let me. So I got bold, and went for the regular front-hand full body pet down the spine.
She let me. I held my breath and looked at her and she didn’t move. I tried again and she let me. And after a few seconds... I was just... petting her. Like you would any other cat. I literally got teary eyed as I told her what a good girl and brave girl she is. She... leaned into it.
After about a minute, I got really bold and tried a neck scratch.
SHE. LOVED. IT.
This was after about five minutes of neck-scratch / body pets switching. I grabbed my phone off the nightstand to capture the moment, and she was totally cool with staying still while I shifted a bit to take the pictures with my left hand.
I probably hung out with her for ten or fifteen minutes and actually had to push her away to get up and run into work and not miss a meeting I was supposed to run at 10. I’ve been so. damn. happy. about this.
It took ten years you guys. Or damn close to it. A decade of knowing this cat, of getting her to trust me bit by bit.
And now, when I hop in bed at night, whenever she’s ready she’ll jump up and hang out. A few nights ago she even let me pet her while she was standing up and I was sitting up for a moment, and once while I was sitting up and sitting cross-legged, she laid down on the pillow in front of my legs and just let me pet her that way.
She even woke me up in the middle of the night last night going “Uh, hey, that thing you do now? Do that some.” She lays there and purrs and lets me pet her for a long time.
She still mostly runs under the bed if I’m in the room and not on the bed, but the last year or so she’s been lazy about it, instead of jumping up terrified and running under the bed it’s more like “Oh... you’re here. Ok.” More like a routine than a necessity. The last few days she may even be outside of the bed under the nightstand or just... NEAR the bed if I’m walking around, but I haven’t pushed that boundary yet.
My goal is now, by the end of the year, have her tolerate me picking her up, or at least pushing her around. Get it so I can get her into a carrier and... if I’m real lucky, get her to the vet before 2019 is over. We’ll see.
Maybe, but not likely, someday I can open the bedroom door again, sleep with the other cats (I do occasionally sleep in the guest room so they can hang out with me, but that bed is nooot as comfortable.) For the last few years I was doubtful we’d ever get this far. So who knows.

akashi wouldnt say that kagami has become a treasured friend without reason! so how did their second year come together.
for one thing, especially since seirin won the winter cup, i can only assume they got very secy funding from the school that makes travelling for training camps and practice games. so they could probably go to all the miracle schools for matches and practice, and talk then!
they also. because i said so. meet maybe once or twice a month when they can for burgers and streetball! they probably meet either centrally in tokyo bc shuutoku kaijo seirin and ? touo im pretty sure or maybe they switch around sometimes. if people can't make it theyll skype in.

status update apr 10 2022
+ in case you didn’t know, i hate sundays. i think cause it’s like a reset of the week, and i just kinda think back to how i didn’t do everything i wanted this week? and then monday i have to restart and try again. every sunday. i get like this every sunday. i try and make music but often fail, or even if i make something cool i don’t ever go with it. something about it. i could be in a fantastic mood but then forget all the good things and sink into my hole. it’s crazy how that happens. but,

week one
first post!!! omg!!!!! this is nerve-racking.
its not technically a week since 2022 started off on a saturday and im writing this on sunday, jan 2nd. i wanted to start today though bc im planning on continuing to update every week and just go over my week and just use this acc as a memory and diary to read in the future, u know? so i really dont care about followers and all that lol
ive had quite poor mental health in 2021 and i reallyreally hope 2022 will be better bc ive truly missed doing things i enjoy such as keeping up w kpop stuff and learning korean.
well, these past two days (i say two bc its currently 11 pm on sunday) have been drastically different lol. yesterday was almost perfect, i felt so happy; i usually do on jan 1st. its just so refreshing w a new year. new year new me kind of deal, u know? i did mostly clean but i like cleaning, its relaxing. im a virgo after all.
today was bad though. i went to sleep feeling anxious so i think that mightve contributed to it. ive been feeling anxious all day bc of the smallest things but at least i met up w my friend l in the evening. idk if i feel comfortable enough to write out their name but yeah her name starts with an l. an l not a capital i. it really made me feel a lot better since i felt so frustrated all day so it really helped me unwind and get my mind to focus on something else.
i had put together an outfit yesterday that i was surprisingly really proud of. i dont have any pics of it rn though but i’ll probably wear it more than once, so another time. i promise to add photos ive taken throughout the week as often as possible in the future but to describe my ootd i actually wore a shirt i usually wear to sleep which is an old, quite outworn tee w edward scissorhands. i watched the actual movie just a couple of days ago but i had the shirt bc it was my sisters before me but yeah i wore a short-sleeved shirt beneath that had a puritan collar, then a black skirt w white socks w a ruffle at the top. i wore my hair in low pigtails w two hair clips in the front. i tried to do dark makeup to match w edward on the shirt but i truly suck at makeup so it was a failed attempt but my eyeliner was POPPING... sorry, was that too detailed?
earlier in the day i started a new game called a3!. im not quite sure if its an otome game yet or not but i think its fun so far and its really cute, the intro was so long though omg. the design of it is so cute!! i love its aesthetic. so, in this game u basically have to gather a bunch of actors to revive this theatre that is on the verge of going bankrupt bc of the lack of visitors. i dont have a favorite character yet but i actually quite like the tsundere character??? which is really rare for me??? i never like tsunderes lol i always love the flirty feminine guys. i tbh think the way to describe my ideal type in men is someone whos flirty and feminine but masculine in some areas. i was about to say zen from mysme but tbh hes too macho. our mbtis supposedly match, im an isfj and hes an estp or esfp, i dont remember but isfjs are apparently a good match for those mbtis.
i just thought of this but i think it could be cute to like add the song im listening to while im writing this as a little ending to each post. as a song rec to anyone who may read this or just a reminder to my future self like: “hey, remember this absolute banger?”

Ahoy friends! Well now...hasn't it been an age since I updated my own bloggy space thing. Hmm...curious choice, Stevens. Bold strategy to not remind the world on a 17th platform what you've been up to professionally. SHINee!! These boys have always brought me so much happiness through their music and by just being themselves. They were the first group that I really explored deeper discography-wise, and I fell in love with all of their music, they have never disappointed me. I love how they are not afraid to explore different music genres and yet still have that SHINee quality to them. Each album offers something new and exciting, and yet their older music stands up against time. Like I will honestly never get tired of listening to replay or love like oxygen. These boys work hard just like any other group, however I can really feel the heart they put into their work a bit more than others. And the fact that SHINee is a family devoted to each other, and that they are open and honest to shawols made me feel like SHINee world was a comforting and accepting place to be a part of. They have some of the nicest fans, and the boys themselves are some of the sweetest people I’ve ever seen. I love them so much and I cannot thank them enough for all the positivity they have given me.
4.) Ult Bias and why you love them?
Key!! One of my SHINee boys <3. When I first learned the members of SHINee, I had the hardest time with choosing a bias let me tell you. Ultimately, Key stole my heart. He has such a unique sense of humor that I really appreciate, that is straight forward and honest. Not only that, but he is not afraid to express himself whether it be through his extra-ness or even his fashion. He really puts himself out there with a confidence I wish I had. Key also has a kind heart and is not afraid to express his emotions as well, he looks out for his members and he cares about others. Not to mention that he donates money to provide art supplies to school children every year so that they can have an outlet in which to express themselves creatively. His voice is also very unique and the fact that he can rap and also sing is amazing to me (I would love to hear a solo song by him). Lastly, his smile always warms my heart and I love seeing him be happy as well as the other members.

Also I love the collab song between NU'EST W and Seventeen, Heaven, it's choreography is ridiculous and amazing. Also, Lilliabbay by Seventeen's performance unit is a work of art. Plus Pentagon's funny choreography for Shine gives me life.

INSTAX @ HOME PROJECT.
For this project, I decided to recreate one of the first ever projects I did in my first year of university at UAL.
This project consisted of two images, showing off various polaroids that I had, however that project - although aesthetically pleasing - didn’t exactly make me feel any type of way towards it. It was pretty but I felt that it lacked depth and meaning, which always helps an advert feel more personal.
With this, I decided to start researching up previous Instax adverts. While I researched, I realised that their adverts were quite minimalist and bare and I wanted to step away from that.
Not every memory is shot like a day in an Instagrammers life, I wanted my adverts to be messier and more lifelike, something people can relate to in their busy lives, especially now with all of us staying home and houses getting messier, more memories being made despite everything and I wanted to be able to catch that at this vital moment.
I went through a lot of ideas, debating whether I should stay with just photo advertisements or branch out more. I decided on the latter, however the progress to it gave me a lot of things to research.
Instax’ previous adverts are very minimal.
They’re almost similar to my first try back in 2017, hence why I tried to go in a different direction. I focused less on the partying and the adventurous aspect that Instaxs hold, but I inside went for the more close to home and personal vibe.
I asked my friends and people close to me to take photos of their own polaroids, scattered on their bed with things they love and that define them.
With these photos, I tried a few different methods of what I wanted to do (insert pic of the faded adverts w the slogan), I was still stuck on wanting to do print adverts before Brian suggested that I try to do this as a live project, so that’s what I did.
I researched into two projects, one called the ‘It Gets Better’ project (@itgetsbetter) and The Live Drawing Project (@livedrawingproject).
These two projects both have under 100k followers and while rather small, they still have a community within them.
I first looked at ‘It Gets Better’.
The ‘It Gets Better’ project focuses on uplifting, empowering and connecting with LGBT+ youth around the world. Their posts are primarily video posts from actors and other people all around the world, sharing and showing their support for the LGBT+ youth, especially during this tough time. They’re still active, receiving a decent amount of likes on each post.
I looked at this project as I want my project to be able to uplift peoples day to day lives, showing them that there can be memories in everything, showing them that this quarantine can be used to create memories, despite how sullen the world is currently.
The second project is the Live Drawing Project.
This instagram is the home of LDP, an art project started in France. While the location exactly is unknown (I’m unable to enter their website as I don’t have a log in), their instagram shows pictures of peoples art and creativity shown up on the walls of buildings and houses. They also have an event called the Night Of Illuminations where they’ll have people gather while they project the drawings for all to see in the night, making them show up best.
I absolutely adore this project, I love the fact that it’s still being updated this year and that many, many people are joining in.
While only a small following, they’ve been around for a year and have grown a gathering of people who will follow their projects. They also hosted various art lessons throughout France, which I found amazing.
I chose to focus on this project as I wanted to see the drive that a smaller instagram had. They may not have thousands of followers but they’re still updating and inspiring others to do the same as I said previously with the ‘It Gets Better’ project. I want to bring people together and to inspire them to create memories from their own homes.
I started to create the adverts with Instagram in mind and started to look through the photos and choose which ones I wanted to post first on the ‘gram.
I used these two pictures that my mum (picture one) and my best friend (picture two) sent me and used these to create my first set of posts on my Instagram.
I decided to have a white background as Instagram doesn’t have a ‘dark mode’ and therefore works with the minimalist feel of the whole account. I also used the yellow from the icon as it would match.
For the ‘@ home’ font I used Sweet Purple, a fun and simplistic style yet one that looks homemade and personal. I’ve used this font on other projects such as my Animal Crossing Amiibo Cards, that can be found on my portfolio here.
I posted these with a relatability in mind. I wanted to hone in to people's personal sides, to make them feel nostalgic and happy to look at photos that they took with loved ones and I want them to feel the urge to create them within their own home, to make memories that’ll replace the thoughts and things that have happened over the last few months.
While creating the Instagram posts, I decided to go with a yellow colour scheme. Yellow is not only my favourite colour but it’s also widely recognised as the happiest colour, according to sources. I wanted to keep the colours light and happy to keep with my message of creating happy and fond memories.
I decided on having ‘picture breaks’, where I’d include a picture like the one above in between photos to somewhat break up the posts, and to be able to give commenters a place to ask questions and talk if they wanted to know anything but didn’t want to comment on the polaroid picture itself. I added a post with what Instax @ Home is, explaining my ideas behind the project and what I would like people to do (partake, comment, tag me in posts, etc). This turned out to work wonderfully, as I’ve had people tagging me in posts!
I created 5 of my own polaroid posts to beef up my feed and to get traction within my account, creating content and tagging it so it can bring in more traffic to my page, as well as bringing in people who’ll want to take part!

Now the Instagram is live and I’m waiting for people to start joining in. I’ve got a lot of likes on my first few posts and I hope that I’ll be able to continue this project well after the deadline, or for as long as quarantine is.
UPDATE: 17TH JUNE 2020, DAY BEFORE HAND IN
After I posted the images on Instagram, I got immediate following and interactions!
While I only have 30 or so followers, I’m getting interactions and people tagging me and sharing their own Instax pictures!
I realised, I shouldn’t be so focused on making new memories in a household, but instead finding the polaroids and reminiscing on the old photos that have been taken.
One person, under the @ silenceofthesunflower, they captioned a picture of themselves with ‘a long throwback, @instaxathome made me miss my polaroid camera. I should’ve brought it in with me’
This made me realise that people don’t particularly want to make new memories in this pandemic, but instead focus on the past ones to be able to remember happier times. I wanted to combat the sadness of the world's current situation by creating more memories, but I realise now that some people just want to remember, and that’s okay too. I will be posting both old and new polaroids to this account as a way to expand my userbase!
However, despite that, I do hope this makes more people pick up their Instax camera and use it more in the future. I have my own and I know I don’t use it as much as I should. This project has made me realise, as well, that I should be using my camera more often. I have the means to make memories so why aren’t I?
I know I will absolutely be continuing this project past my deadline and hope to make it a fully fledged account with followers and interactions daily.

ok, my tips are!!:
draw as much as possible! even if it’s just lines and shapes with no meaning, you’re still developing your hand/eye skills
BUT: dont draw if you’re not feeling it! if you’re feeling fried, it’s better to take a break. go on a walk to somewhere scenic, read your favorite book, listen to some new music, hang out with friends, or just take a nap! rest up and find some inspiration! you can come back to your sketchbook when you feel energized again
draw stuff that you like! you’ll improve way faster if you’re passionate about what you’re doing
look at art you like with a critical eye. try to examine the different components and figure out what you think works or doesn’t work. try incorporation those components into your own work
read a lot of tutorials and other resources, but take what they say with a grain of salt
ultimately, remember that the only real rule to drawing is that doing it should make you happy

ohh um! im not sure which pens youre referring to, but if you mean the ones I use for my comics, i color them with Winsor & Newton ProMarkers, and I do the lines with a purple fine-point Sakura Gelly Roll Classic pen! i also use micron pens of all different sizes and colors in some of my non-diary comic art!
