well my favorite of all time is a pc/canon ship but not a canon romance but i did think of a niche npc/npc ship that has recently made me feel like eating glass lmao so i did two

i attempted to give some context but not completely infodump >< idk if that was achieved lol

My Grey Warden who has to go save the world after being recruited from a no-caste nothing on the underbelly of dwarven society fell for a guy you can't romance bc his culture is the Qun, which dictates basically your role and existence since you're born. They don't do like romance or marriage or whatever bc genetics are dictated by people who manage that. (Although some people do escape and live outside of that) His name is his job title. But he's a good man, a good soldier and a good friend and Torani Brosca respects the shit out of him so she keeps her feelings to herself. But yes she'll fight by his side and find his missing sword and stay as close as she can 🥺 and she never ever thinks of herself and her wants bc everything went towards her sister's chances of getting the family married up out of poverty so she really doesn't examine the feelings either it's just. I want to be close to you. Always. 😭

Uuuuunfortunately in my canon playthrough she takes the final hit in the last boss fight to kill the big bad and dies :( Beforehand she asked Sten to return her sword to her sister in Orzammar so Rica could have something to remember her by. She technically could have lived but that involves a mage party member fucking someone so she could have a baby and uh. suck the undying soul of the Arch demon into the unborn vessel instead of requiring a Warden to essentially cancel it out by killing it and... i don't actually remember the specific mechanics but a Warden specifically has to die in order for the big bad to STAY dead bc they have a like. half vaccinated version of the blight that kills them extremely slowly. But dorfs have such a low reproduction rate and the only way for them to get out of castelessness was for Rica to have a nobles baby and marry up... so Tor was like no i am not forcing anyone into that I'll just take the hit. 😔 so there's glass snack #1.

glass snack #2 is from the Dragon Age Inquisition DLC The Descent so this'll be spoilery lol but omg Renn and Valta

Ok. Dwarves live underground, are immune to magic and the magic ore only they can dig up bc it kills anyone else. There's a group called Legion of the Dead who are socially dead, they literally have a funeral for them when they leave, and they go into the old deep roads and protect the city from the Dark spawn until they die out there with their boots on. This is what Renn does. Valta is an archivist who's been essentially put on bitch work bc she pissed off a higher-up by not erasing something really trivial from their records. And we're down there helping them figure out why the earthquakes are suddenly nuts. It seems like they've been working side by side for years and Renn either has a specific task or personal obligation to defend her while she's in the dangerous tunnels and old roads, I'm not sure which. But while they bicker a LOT there's soooooo much fondness underneath all that and they care about each other so fiercely and honestly we don't get a whole lot of conversation and banter even but what we do get is just fucking LOADED with meaning and I'm just *eats drywall* about it

ough and when he dies defending us from some threat we've never faced before she's even more determined to figure this out so he hasn't died in vain auuuurghh god so many things ending in tragedy but in the meanwhile.... the meanwhile is so good 😩 and that dichotomy of already being 'dead' but still having reason to live, to fight for and protect someone. ough...

one reblog = one bedtime story

"tea's ready, sweetheart."

the bedroom door opens with a squeak, revealing minghao standing in his robe and slippers, carrying two steaming mugs of tea.

you set your phone down on the nightstand as he holds one mug out to you, and you take it, giving him a warm smile. “thank you, baby.”

he’s made it one of your bedtime traditions to bring you a mug of chamomile tea every night, citing some health benefits he read about, but you know he secretly just likes to cuddle before you go to sleep. the tea does make you sleepy, but the feeling of him beside you is what you like best.

he takes his glasses off and folds them, placing them in one of the drawers in the nightstand. you always tease him about wearing glasses despite not needing them, but he just likes the way he looks in them.

you scoot over in bed to make room for him as he pulls back the covers, gripping your mug tightly so it doesn’t spill.

he grabs the book he’s currently reading from the drawer and settles in, drawing the comforter up around his waist and opening up the pages. the bookmark you made him for christmas one year falls out and he picks it up, carefully tucking it into the back of the book.

you move closer to him, snuggling into his side. “will you read to me, hao?”

he glances over at you. “of course,” he smiles.

he starts reading in a hushed voice as you take small sips from your tea. the little intonations in his voice as he reads make you smile. his voice is one of your favorite things to listen to. reading, singing, laughing, anything. there’s so much comfort in his voice you can’t help but want to hear his speak all the time.

before long you feel yourself begin to nod off, your eyes slowly falling shut and your body starting to relax as waves of drowsiness wash over you.

at just the right moment minghao looks over and catches you, your mouth open slightly and your fingers falling from the handle, and he grabs your half-full mug of tea from your hand before it tips and spills all over the bed.

he reaches over and places the mug on the nightstand on his side of the bed, making a note to empty and wash it in the morning. he gently slides your head off of his shoulder and onto your pillow as he pulls the covers up to your neck, tucking you in.

he closes his book and sets it aside before sliding out from under the blankets as quietly as he can so he doesn’t disturb you.

“hao?” your sleepy voice calls out softly.

he turns around, seeing you laying on your side facing him. your eyes have opened, just barely enough to peek through your lashes to find where he’s gone.

“come back,” you murmur. you may be falling asleep, but you can tell when his gentle presence isn’t beside you anymore.

he smiles. “just turning off the light, sweetheart.”

you settle in, letting your eyes close again. “mmhm.”

he pauses, watching you for a moment, taking in your soft features under the dim light of the bedroom lamp. the gentle way the covers rise and fall with each breath, the way your hair lays across your face, the way your lips stay just barely parted. the way you look so perfect in the bed you share with him every night, with sleep on the verge of overtaking you but still you wait so patiently for him to come back so you can fall asleep with him next to you.

you whine quietly, bringing his attention back to you and reminding him that you’re there waiting. he flicks off the light and crosses the room, slipping off his robe and laying it across the bench at the end of the bed.

you hum as he pulls the cover back, sliding back into the sheets and getting comfortable. beneath the covers your hand grabs at him, blindly searching for his arm to hold onto. he rolls over onto his side to face you, sneaking his arm around your body.

half-asleep, you sigh contentedly. your hand finds his and you play with his fingers, slowly tracing his knuckles and feeling the weight of his slender fingers holding onto your waist.

“goodnight, darling,” he whispers.

you mumble in reply, not awake enough to form proper words but enough to acknowledge him. he scoots closer to you, pressing your front against his chest and holding you close. you get cold when you sleep, and he’s more than happy to warm you up.

it always takes him longer to fall asleep, but he likes to use the time to admire your sleeping form. even through the dark he can barely make out the lines of your body, but he still loves to think about you and all the good you’ve brought into his life. night is the best time he likes to meditate, just laying quietly with you next to him, taking the moment to reflect. it’s a lot of trust to put in someone, he thinks, letting them see your unconscious figure at the most vulnerable time of your day. he’s just happy you chose him to be the one to see you.

I may have gone overboard but I’m having a lot of thoughts (also surprisingly little nsfw but I do have some coming I’m just having a tough time recently)

also modern au and sweaty gamer guy

okay but can you imagine, you’ve been talking to him for a long time online. you’ve been playing for so long that when you casually mentioned where you lived and realized y’all live close to each other it felt natural to meet up with him. sure, he’s a jerk online but he’s you’re friend too, so you wanted to give him a chance. putting in your cutest outfit and making sure you’re makeup looked good, you dashed out of your apartment to meet him at a cute cafe.

only to meet him and he’s dressed so casual and it doesn’t look like he’s showered in the past day or so. he barely even says hi to you either, just a small nod to acknowledge you before telling you you’re late. it’s awkward, he keeps checking his phone and showing you memes off of Twitter too. honestly, for as bad as it seems, you kind of enjoy being able to see his face in front of you. you start to pick up on small quirks of his. like how his face breaks out in a light pink flush every time you’re hand brushes up against his.

he keeps rattling off about the newest win he had in lol and how he’s the best player in the game. usually, people would walk out of the cafe after hearing how arrogantly he speaks, but you just sit and smile, listening intently. he’s honestly pretty cute too.

this becomes a weekly thing for you, meeting up at some cafe and hanging out in person. scara will groan about how you are taking away his precious time, but will never say no to you when you ask if he wants to meet up. he never tries to dress up for you, either. hell wear some already worn tee shirt and some old jeans at best, but something about it just works. this is seeing the real him.

and slowly it seems less like a hang out, more like a date. though, he would refuse to admit that. but when you reach across the table and hold his hand, he doesn’t pull away. he stutters through his sentence and blushes heavily, but he doesn’t try to pull away from your grasp.

when he finally invites you to his place, he ends up playing video games the entire time. claiming to show you how elite he is, but in actuality he’s way to flustered having you this close to him that he needs to distract himself. when he looks over his shoulder and sees you laying on his bed like you own it, his heart skips a beat. AND THEN, you start making fun of him for having a girl in his bed for the first time ever, and that he’s playing video games. honestly, he’s embarrassed but shoots a sarcastic remark back at you. but that doesn’t stop him from walking over and getting into bed next to your, asking if “you are happy yet”. what he doesn’t expect is for you to wrap your arms around him and nod yes. honestly he might think he took too many edibles last night and probably is in some sort of weed hallucination coma.

as he’s cuddled up to you, you realize two things, one is that he clearly hasn’t washed his sweatshirt in months (if not at any point since buying it) and two, try as he may to deny it, he’s enjoying having you pressed up against. you can tell immediately how much he enjoys having you right against him by the way his body betrays him. he almost like a cat in how he cuddles up against you, scolding you that he is wasting precious game time, yet his arms stay firmly wrapped around you with no intention to let go anytime soon.

he’s not exactly subtle with his touching (ahem, groping) either. at first you think maybe it was an accident, but by the fourth squeeze of your breast it’s pretty hard to deny what he’s doing. all you can do is giggle to yourself, causing him to roll his eyes and tell you off for being rude, not like he’s the one being a perv. you tell him if he wanted to touch he could have just asked, this is your sixth date. which makes him freeze as he realizes that these have been dates. then he gains his confidence to touch you more, rudely telling you how easy you must be to let him do this. you can only laugh at his over confidence and massive ego, but at least he finally has the courage to touch you now.

this unleashes a new side to him, now that you’ve opened that door he will always be touching you. any time he has you alone he is either grabbing at your chest or touching your ass. he’ll also have more courage to be more of a perv too. if he hasn’t seen you in a while, then he’ll text you for nudes. and he doesn’t ask nicely, will always try to brag that since he one his last round of lol he deserves it. if you ask for one back from him, he’ll scoff but send a poorly done dick pic that shows off his nasty gaming room. just give him some tips and you’ll be getting those videos of him smacking the tip on the camera and letting you hear his very soft moans. oh man, once he realizes you like his videos he will start sending more too, whenever he feels like it. so always watch out opening videos and snaps from him.

Ok so, I feel like you’d be a competitive couple, turning anything into a competition in an endearingly annoying way.

You’re definitely the type of couple to go to laser tag, an escape room, an arcade, etc, as dates >:) but the competitions don’t end there:

Who can plan the best date? Who can make the other blush first? Who can get the other the better gift? Who’s the better kisser? Who gets the higher score in class? Or wins at sparring?

as for dates, to me he seems the type to be into really spontaneous and random things!! He’d love going somewhere fun or just simply randomly travelling with you without a destination!

He especially loves to sneak out of the dorm late at night and meet you at you and his favourite park.

It’s located at the top of a really tall hill, and you’ll both spend hours sitting on the swings, chatting away with little care for the rest of the world or the time as you both simply giggle at each other’s jokes and contentedly talk about anything and everything; watching the city lights glow from hundreds of metres below you

He’d offer you his jacket when the temperature drops by a few degrees suddenly
