Rho Ophiuchi Cloud Complex. Only gathered 35 minutes worth of exposure before the wispy clouds wrecked havoc so I really had to massage the data and coax the photons in post-processing to display a modicum of what can be revealed in this gorgeous section of sky. Shot with a Hydrogen-Alpha modified Pentax K-1 and an Askar 135mm lens on an iOptron Skyguider Pro mount. #clayhausphotography #rhoophiuchi #rhoophiuchicloudcomplex #pentax #ioptronskyguiderpro #ioptron #pentaxk1 https://www.instagram.com/p/CerdJ1Ov727/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

How is it going, how did it start?

A comparison of AR3053 and AR3052 between July 10 and July 5 when they rotated into view on the Eastern limb of the Sun. The active regions on both dates captured in Ca II K, H alpha and white light.
AR3053 (centre) and AR3052 (small spot on RHS of image) in Ca II K light (363.3nm) on July 10.

AR3053 (left near E solar limb) and AR3052 (small spot(s) nearer centre of image) in Ca II K light (363.3nm) on July 5. AR3051 is just visible in top RH corner of the image.

The change in 3053 is majestic while 3052 has dissipated over the course of the five days. looking forward to a few more cloud free days to follow groups across the solar disk on a daily basis!

Wide-field testing in the backyard - One of my tests from last night. This is 55 stacked 10 second exposures at ISO 3200 on the Sony A7s and the Irix 15mm f/2.4. (Stacked in Affinity Photo). The iOptron SkyGuider Pro has the camera locked on the stars and you can see the trees and transmission lines in the foreground flying by. That's the rotation of the earth in the roughly 10 minutes I spent taking 55 exposures.

Milky Way at Mandu Mandu Gorge - Exmouth, Western Australia

Milky Way at Mandu Mandu Gorge - Exmouth, Western Australia by Trevor Dobson Via Flickr: Nikon d810a 85mm ISO 6400 f/2.5 Foreground: 36 x 30 seconds Sky: 58 x 30 seconds iOptron SkyTracker Hoya Starscape filter This is a 94 shot panorama of the Milky Way above Mandu Mandu Gorge near Exmouth in Western Australia. The Exmouth peninsula is about 13 hours drive north of Perth and this panorama was taken a few days before the total solar eclipse. This was quite a trek to get to this location, through large pebbled grounds, a trek I was doing for the second time that day after scoping out the area earlier. I was looking for a part of the gorge which would complement the arch of the Milky Way. I was also not completely alone while shooting this panorama, with an animal, either wallaby or dingo, moving around in the bush you can see near the middle part of the gorge. Thankfully it wasn't curious enough to come take a closer look at me.

Summer Milky Way at Harvey Dam, Western Australia by Trevor Dobson Nikon d810a 50mm ISO 6400 f/2.8 Foreground: 14 x 15 seconds Sky: 49 x 30 seconds iOptron SkyTracker Hoya Red Intensifier filter This is a 63 shot panorama of the Southern Hemisphere's summer Milky Way as it arches from the north (left side of the image) to the south above Harvey Dam, 1.5 hours south of Perth in Western Australia. Prominent in this image is the pink, petal shaped Carina Nebula and the Crux constellation in the centre right, in the top right corner is the Large Magellanic Cloud and to its left is the large, deep red Gum Nebula. On the left side is the easily recognisable Orion Nebula and Barnard's Loop. There's also quite a bit of green and red airglow above the horizon. The partially submerged tree in the dam was light painted with a hand held spotlight. https://flic.kr/p/2ocoELE

Setting up the iOptron SkyGuider Pro with the Sony A7s + Irix 15mm f/2.4. I'm just doing some widefield star tracking tests tonight--and not for a while. The Milky Way won't hit 30° in the east until 11pm.
