Excuse me, but consider this: Enid doesn't like her scars, because they get more attention than she ever did. It's the first thing her mother notices, and she almost cries of joy because she didn't believe it when they told her she'd finally turned. Enid catches her mom looking proudly at her scars from time to time, which is more attention than she ever gave her before. "Let me get a good look at you" she says, turning Enid's head to the side, tracing the scars. Enid wants to run away. Her mom doesn't say "I'm glad you're okay" she doesn't ask if it hurt. She says "finally" because Enid almost dying is less important than her wolfing out.

Enid starts wearing her hair in a way that hides them as much as possible. Until one day Wednesday asks her about it, "do you regret how you got your scars?" and Enid's words get stuck in her throat. And Wednesday, carefully tracing the area on Enid's cheek so she doesn't touch still healing wounds, tells her that they're just a visual representation of her choices. A part of her now, sure, but they're more like a footnote, an added detail to the intricacy of her. And when Wednesday looks at them she remembers how she saved her life that day.

"If you regret saving me, that's okay, but I can't bear to see you hiding yourself like this"

And Enid stops her then, because she would never regret what she did that day.

"It's just... it feels like my scars are the only thing mum loves about me"

And Wednesday says her mom's a fool, because "What's not to love about you?"

ghost and rudy.

i've been seeing posts about rudy being skittish around ghost and like, ghost could react two ways.

one; ghost uses it to his full advantage. appearing out've nowhere to scare him. stares at him a little too long. ghost finding it somewhat entertaining seeing the other male stare at him slightly nervous. speaks a little lower, drawling out words. this ghost enjoys teasing him.

two; ghost treats him like a scared cat. surprisingly gentle with him. taking extra care to make sure he doesn't frighten the man by purposely making his footsteps louder. hunches over a little when he's next to rudy. talks a little softer. this ghost wants him to be okay.

October Plushie concept designs? 🤔 Ok, so this isnt anything official, but im hoping it will be!  Makeship is the site im looking to go through, and from what ive gathered, if my design is approved, it will be put on their website to be funded with preorders. I would have to get roughly 200 preorders (cost is looking to be about $30 USD)in 21 days in order for the plush to be made. If it doesnt get funded fully, then it doesnt get produced but you also wont be charged for your order either, so there is that. Im generally curious to see if anyone is interested in this idea. This wouldnt be until next year, but the thought as been scratching at my brain and I wanted to get a rough draft down of what a possible plushie might look like- so this isnt 100% final. So yeah, how many people would be interested in the idea of getting a little October plushie of their own? 👀

Hey guys! I was thinking of writing a Fanfic and wanted to see if anyone was interested.

Basic Summary

So what if Snotlout had been raised by dragons?

We know that Berk abandons runt children, so what if Snotlout had been a runt and Spitelout left him on top of a mountain to be eaten by dragons?

What if Snotlout had been found by Hookfang and his parents? 

So fast forward 15 years and Snotlout is The Dragon Prince. He is known throughout the Archipelago for his daring dragon rescues and that he is a dragon rider. He and all the dragons he saves live in “The Haven” on a distant island near the edge of the Archipelago. Dragons no longer attack humans because Snotfang killed the Red Death. But vikings still attack wild dragons to train with ( they have to use dummies because they can’t catch any for longer that a week) so the dragons use self-defence. None of the gangs dragons got used in the academy because as soon as they were caught Snotlout freed them. Hookfang didn’t get caught because he was out rescuing some deadly nadders with Snotlout that day.

So what’s happening with the other riders you ask? Well, Snotlout saw that the twins were unhappy and unappreciated on Berk so he made a deal with them that they could live in the Haven if they helped him free dragons. They accepted and met Barf and Belch. They agreed because they met Snotlout when Hiccup shot down Toothless. He didn’t go looking because he thought he missed but the twins were in the woods the next day and saw a masked figure freeing Toothless. They saw Hookfang carry Toothless away and watched for any signs of the masked man for weeks before they went to live in the Haven. 

Astrid is still a Viking warrior but she and Hiccup are a bit closer that in the Original Universe (pre Toothless). She’s basically the same as film 1 Astrid but a bit more bloody. She got scared when the twins went missing and kind of bonded with Hiccup.

Hiccup is still like film 1 Hiccup but without Toothless. They do meet eventually though! He’s thrown himself into dragon training and is actually doing ok. But then again he is fighting straw dummies.

Fishlegs is a bit different the cannon. He’s darker and more gutsy then film 1 Fishlegs. He’s got scars and is pretty violent by the time he’s 15.

So another time skip, about five more years. The gang are all 20 and the Viking Chiefs are having a meeting to discuss the problem of the Dragon Prince who has gained more Dragon followers. Stoick attends the meeting with Hiccup, Fishlegs and Astrid as all three have had small  run-ins with him.

Astrid saw him feeding Hookfang by a stream on Berk. 

Hiccup saw him free a Zippleback from the academy.

Fishlegs saw him lots over the years. Everything from stealing the book of dragons to flying over Berk with two new dragon riders.

But halfway through the meeting Snotlout burst through the door and tries to convince the chiefs to give his way of life a chance. The Chiefs are uneasy so Snotlout says “What if one member of a tribe comes and lives with me for a week? Then they return to you and tell you everything?”

The Chiefs agree.

They decide that each tribe will volunteer one warrior and then have a vote. The Hooligans volunteer Fishlegs and he is chosen to go.

I think a conlang for sentient calculators has a lot of potential.

Factorials can be used for emphasis (!)

Repeating what somebody said with a different intonation: saying a different equation that gives the same value with the same operation with the same number of terms (restrictive on purpose to be usable).

The default register is using numbers that are close to each other. You can mock someone by picking numbers that are WAY farther apart than they have to be.

First calculator: 33*22

Me, mocking them: 363 * 2

The graphing calculator part would denote grammatical cases/tenses/aspects

y=sin(x): habitual used for positive habits like a morning routine (because they oscillate around the same value, and have a positive slope between 0 and 1)

y=cos(x): habitual used for negative habits like a drug addiction (because they oscillate around the same value, and have a negative slope between 0 and 1)

y=sqrtx: comitative (because there would be two y values co-occurring at every x value if complex numbers were included)

tangent lines: adessive case (location at, upon, or adjacent to)

dy/dx: adessive case when you wanna be coy

Replace the equals sign with an inequality sign for the subessive case (under or below something) so that the area under the graph will be shaded (my calculator can't do this but I bet others can)

visibly using the squeeze/sandwich theorem: intrative case (case that roughly expresses the notion of the English preposition "amidst" or "between")

People with better math skills than me, please add to this if you feel like it!

I have this whole idea for a book and I need to write it somewhere so just let me rant here for a while.

It's about a woman who's name I shall say is isabella for now. She lives in the US with her husband ( andrew) but feels completely out of place no matter where she goes, this is mainly due to the language barrier. She can speak English quite well but her accent occasionally means that she isn't taken as seriously as she wants to be. Andrew tries to empathise with her and is a good husband in every way you can say the phrase, but he struggles to see the complex things that occur in her mind. Throughout the book, he tries to comfort her but gets frustrated occasionally when he realises he has to wait for her to accept his offering. She struggles with her mental health but doesn't understand what it is that she is specifically struggling with. The book is specifically set on the day she organises a party for their friends. She spends all of the previous night planning where everyone would sit etc but still isn't satisfied.

I imagine this scene to be like this-

Isabella sits with a blanket loosely draped across her legs which are tucked up on the couch. Her soft, brown curls are neatly tucked into a bun and she taps the pen on the notebook.

Isabella-

Andrew? I think we shouldn't invite your brother to the party...

She sighs and bites the end of the pen

Maybe we should just sit him with ellen.

Andrew-

The flower woman?

She nods then sighs shaking her head.

Isabella-

I dont know.

Andrew sighs and sits next to her on the couch. His hand rests gently on her leg, willing her to allow the comfort he is offering

Andrew-

I love you. You know that right?

His voice is gentle. He gently lifted her chin in order to search her eyes for a small hint of what thoughts are clouding her mind.

Andrew-

It's happening again. Isn't it?

She sighs and chooses to release herself from the eye contact they had been holding, instead choosing to focus her attention once again at the seating chart.

Isabella-

I'm fine.

Her voice remains soft and calm but contains aspects of a distant nature that they had both become all too familiar with recently.

Andrew-

You're always fine. That's your problem honey.

He sighs and takes hold of her hand.

Andrew-

You need to learn how to not be.

Isabella attempts to continue the chart but her eyes sting. She puts it down and laughs slightly.

Isabella-

I don't think you understand what that means darling.

She returns the eye contact. Her eyes betraying her attempt to maintain the facade she had built and managed to keep running for weeks.

If im not fine the house doesn't work.

She smiles sadly. Shaking her head.

So I am fine.

Andrew-

I know.

Isabella-

You could be with someone so much better than me.

Her voice is soft and quiet but contains aspects of a sadness that would be undetectable in the ears of anyone else.

Andrew-

Bella...I don't want better. I just want you.

His eyes search hers as he cups her face gently with his hand like he's afraid to break her.
