Bullies and a Date

Day 5 of @intrulogicalweek and I have swapped out the prompt. I just don't vibe with drag guys, I don't know why. Just not my thing. So instead have some Nerd!Remus and Punk!Logan 💙💚

“You should have known better than cross my way, nerd.”

Remus had heard this spiel a hundred times before. It was boring him to tears, but he couldn't show that. It might earn him a black eye and his mom would kill him if he wasn’t presentable for the charity event she was hosting this weekend. So, he did his best to look properly scared by the two football players crowding him against his locker.

“At a loss for words, loser? Huh?” A push to his shoulder and Remus winced. “Say something!”

“Leave him alone, Jägerman,” a new voice spoke up from close by. Remus’ eyes widen as they fall onto Logan Croft. The senior looked almost bored as he watched the scene in front of him, his icy blue eyes piercing into the bully’s back.

With another shove, Remus is released, and his attacker turns around to face the newcomer.

“Fuck off, Croft. This is none of your business.”

“Maybe not, but I’m also not going to stand by and just let you do whatever you want.”

“You should though. ‘Cause I always to whatever I want. This is my turf, asshole,” Jägerman spat and advanced on Logan, who didn’t even flinch. Remus nervously chewed on his lower lip as he watched the scene, but the other footballer was still too close to him to make a run for it.

Not that he really wanted to. After all, he wasn’t about to abandon his helper.

“You are so very eloquent with your words,” Logan scoffed. “Don’t you have to get to remedial algebra? Or do you plan to fail the year so you can stay at school for a little longer and continue your power trip?”

“You really have some nerve to talk to me like this, punk,” Jägerman bit out between gritted teeth. He stepped into Logan’s personal space, crowding him, but the other didn’t react with more than a raised brow.

With an angry growl, Jägerman pulled back his fist and tried to ram it into Logan’s stomach but the other grabbed his arm tightly before he could do so.

“I know how to defend myself, Jägerman. And if you don’t want me to break your arm, you better leave right now.”

The bell rung. From where he was standing, Remus couldn’t see the quarterback’s face, but he was pretty sure that Jägerman must be looking furious. His back was shaking with barely controlled rage at least.

“This isn’t over, Croft,” he growled before pulling his arm free and stalking down the hallway, his buddy close behind. Remus watched him until he rounded a corner.

“Are you alright?”

Remus’ neck hurt after his head swirled around fast to face Logan, staring at him intently from only a few steps away. The punk was wearing his signature denim jacket with a collage of pins, combat boots, a long, dark blue skirt, a chain belt, a dark shirt with a red print, and a blue-striped tie that hung loosely around his neck.

Damn, he was hot.

“Yeah, I’m fine,” Remus yelped. He reached up to nervously right his glasses and he could feel the flush spreading across his cheeks.

“Good.” The smile that appeared on Logan’s face was utterly unfair, Remus decided. How was he supposed to keep calm when he smiled like that? “See ya.”

“Wait!” he called, a little too loud considering Logan hadn’t even taken more than one step away from him. The punk froze, turning back to him with a raised brow. “Would you… Uhm…” He swallowed nervously. “Can I… I’d like to buy you a drink if you don’t mind.”

Logan’s eyebrow wandered even higher.

“That’s alright, I don’t need thank you gifts.”

“No, that’s not what I… Well, kind of, but I meant more like… like a date?” Remus was blushing hard by the end of it, but Logan didn’t look convinced.

“Look, I’m flattered, but just because I saved you once doesn’t mean that I—”

“That’s not why!” Remus cut him off. “I’ve had a crush on you for months.”

“Is that so?” He sounded amused and Remus almost pouted. Almost.

“Yes. At first, I was just admiring your style. If my mom wasn’t such an order fanatic, I’d wear stuff like that, too, but she’d lose her shit if she found anything like that in our house.” Remus’ cheeks felt like they were set aflame, but he couldn’t stop his rambling. “But on top of your clothes, you’re hot, smart and don’t take shit from anyone. It’s honestly kinda unfair how attractive you are.”

By the end of his speech, he was slightly out of breath. He hadn’t even noticed that Logan had come closer, now only an armlength away from him.

“You’re quite honest,” he smirked, leaning a bit closer.

Remus felt like his head might explode. “So I’ve been told. Though usually that’s seen as a bad thing.”

Logan just watched him for a moment before chuckling quietly.

“You know what? You’re quite intriguing. I’ll take you up on your offer. You got time after school?”

“Y-yeah! I’ve got a free period now and after that A-level physics, but after that I’m free.”

“Good. I’ll meet you at the main gate then.”

“Okay,” Remus squeaked. Logan smirked and then turned and walked away with a little wave.

Remus’ legs got weak. He actually managed to get a date with Logan Croft.

His brother’s gonna flip his lid.

anyways, hopefully gonna fully participate in @intrulogicalweek this year! because i love my favorite mad scientist x lab rat ship

it's a common occurrence for their date nights to just involve logan dissecting remus as the pair chat about anything. and with remus' creativity there's always something new to find! the strangest dissection so far has been the time all of remus' organs were replaced by car parts. logan didn't expect to cut into him and find smoke, oil, and metal...

It's Okay To Rest

Remus carried Logan to their room.

Logan got hurt by Him, but thankfully Remus was there to stop it.

Logan was covered in bruises and some cuts.

"It's going to be okay, Logan." Remus reasured, putting Logan on the bed. Remus got a med kit and worked on Logan.

When Remus finish, Logan was about to get up, but Remus puts a hand on him. "Lo, no. You need to rest." he said.

Logan gave him a deadpanned look at him. "Remus... I'm fine." he said, trying to get up.

Remus shook his head and gently push him down to the bed. "No, you're not." Then with a snap and flick of his wrist, Logan's clothes changed into his unicorn onesie and some food, mostly Crofters, appeared on a tray.

Logan gave Remus a 'really?' look.

Remus nodded. "You need this."

The duke sat down next to him and smiled at him. Logan looked at him for a moment before he laid his head on his shoulder and close his eyes. "Thank you, Remus..." he muttered softly and nuzzled.

Variations on a Sin, Ch. 1: Envy

Written for @intrulogicalweek's, The Seven Deadly Sins 2022 creative event.

“Excellent! That’s excellent, Remus.” The steady click clack of the metronome matched the rhythm of Logan's nods. He almost paused, one hand raised as he listened to his newest student reach a particularly difficult spot in the piece. It had taken Logan over a year to master it and he was ready to stop Remus and have him try it again at a slower tempo. Practice makes permanent and rushing over mistakes in an effort to play the piece continuously at the proper speed would only reinforce the errant notes.

Remus’ hands flew over the keys without missing a single note and Logan stopped keeping time with the metronome. His student finished the piece, then turned on the piano bench and looked up at Logan, big green eyes bouncing over his features as though trying to guess his response.

“That was incredible,” he said simply. Remus’ face exploded in a grin and he practically danced in his seat. Logan continued to stare at him, brow furrowed.

“Let’s try it again without the sheet music,” he said, closing the book propped up on the little music stand.

“Yeah, I told you… I can’t sight read,” Remus mumbled. He gnawed at the edge of his mustache as he looked down at the floor. The knocking of his neon green Docs against each other had the same syncopated beat as the opening bars of the piece he'd just played. “That’s why I wanted lessons.”

Logan frowned and put away the music book. “Yes, I recall that’s what you said.” Remus looked up at him, his expression indecipherable. “However I find it difficult to believe you were able to play that entire section by memory.”

“Oh,” the small voice was out of place coming from the well over 6’ tall man. “Well, I suppose I should just play it again, then.”

Logan crossed his arms in front of his chest and briefly wished he’d asked for cash payment up front for this lesson. Anyone who would try to manipulate him with such theatrics was certain to skip out on the invoice. Or bounce a check. He sighed and gestured for the man to play again, ready for this charade to be over.

When Logan had answered the door at precisely 2:55 for a new student lesson, he’d been surprised by the hulking man standing on his doorstep. He’d looked around him and over his shoulder down the path, expecting a sullen child in tow. Instead the man’s face split into a huge, lopsided grin and he offered his hand. “Hey, I’m Remus. Are you Logan Sanders?”

Logan looked up at the man, one eyebrow raised. “You are Remus Hyde?” He shook his hand. Remus’ hand was warm and his long, slender fingers gripped with unexpected strength. “I was expecting a child for a beginner’s lesson,” he murmured, but still, stepped aside and welcomed him in with a small wave of his arm.

“Yeah, that’s not a problem, is it?” Logan blinked at the uncertainty in his voice but nodded quickly.

“No, of course not.”

After Remus had explained that he was, in fact, a professional jazz musician who could play by ear but had never learned to sight read or any proper music theory, Logan began to play bits of various pieces for him to attempt. He sought to identify the outer edges of Remus’ innate ability to set a baseline for their lessons.

Piece after piece, Remus was able to listen to the music and recreate it on the piano. Logan continued to find more complex pieces until finally, he played Beethoven’s Sonata 29. He nearly winced at the opening bars, palms sweaty and heart racing, his own struggles with the piece generating a near Pavlovian stress response. He stopped the recording after the first ten minutes and Remus asked to hear it again, then he began to play.

Remus played beautifully and perfectly. No, not entirely perfectly . He added small flourishes where they didn’t belong, and he played the same three bars twice in succession. But it was lovely. And so Logan had waited until Remus reached the part he’d fought with the most and his student simply breezed past the difficult section.

Cold, slimy envy churned in his stomach when he thought about the hours and hours he’d spent on that single 16-bar section alone. He shook his head. It simply wasn’t possible. But when he removed the sheet music, Remus played the piece again, just as beautifully as before.

“Slide over,” Logan instructed, sharper than he’d intended but he was too annoyed at whatever game this man was playing to apologize. He began to play one of his own compositions. It had never been published and he’d never had the courage to play it before an audience. This man couldn’t possibly have heard it before today.

Logan hadn’t finished the first movement before Remus started picking out a harmony in the very lowest octave. He stopped playing and stared at his confounding student. Remus smiled back. “That’s beautiful. That’s not more Beethoven, though, is it?”

“Can you play it?” was the only response Logan could pull from his brain as he stood, relinquishing the keys. Remus began slowly, incorporating the new harmony, but he’d recreated the melody perfectly.

When he finished, he smiled up at Logan. “So what piece was that?”

Logan blinked down at him, a slow smile blooming on his face.

“Mine.”
