le’garde as this... pathetic wannabe christ figure is such an interesting storyline to me. he’s a man who wants to ascend to godhood, he lets himself be tortured horrendously because he sees it as necessary, he sees himself as the bringer of a new era.
and he just. fails and dies pathetically a lot.
the ACTUAL christ figure, his daughter, is also meant to be a bringer of hope, but because he just abandons her, she becomes the opposite. her suffering isn’t some noble sacrifice, it’s just the result of apathetic cruelty. she ushers in a new era of fear and hunger (tm)
there’s just something about the fact that he wants godhood to help humans,  but because he’s so caught up in that, he neglects his actual Ascended God daughter who COULD actually accomplish similar goals. And so he fails
he sees himself as godly but he’s just so pathetically human.

you know what i am so glad that exu calamity gave us insight into vespin chloras's reasoning and everything because now i can confidently say that the guy who kicked off the point in exandria's history that killed 2/3 of the population and fundamentally changed the way the gods interact with the world had more understandable reasoning than ludinus da'leth does.

Note
Hubris is thr act of one claiming that they are better than a god
Example "I'm so pretty I'm even note beautiful than Lady Aphrodite"
Story of Arachne
Icarus
Original story of Medusa
I don't think what ur describing is hubris but over confidence:]
You haven't seen me sleep deprived and willing to kill god

You Left Me Scars Through Memories (Tangled in my DNA) - Prologue
"I love you so much," Stephanie Harrington says, reaching out a hand to tuck some hair behind his ear. It's more an excuse to touch than to clear his face of hair. It's at a length now that will result in the tucked hair falling back into his face with barely a shake of his head.
Steve blinks up at her from where he's sat in her lap, his face far too serious for a toddler just a few hours shy of three years old.
"Your life is going to be so difficult and it's my fault. I'm so sorry," she whispers, sweeping him into a hug. He snuggles into her embrace instantly and it brings tears to her eyes. He should hate her for what she's done. Perhaps he will, once he's older and can understand what she's apologizing for.
"I'm going to tell you a story," she settles back into the chair, a big plush thing that she sits in every night to read a bedtime story to Steve, or tries too anyway. He's at the age where he's wiggly and full of energy until he drops.
"Once upon a time, there was a man and a woman. Husband and wife. And they loved each other very much," she starts, running one hand up and down on her baby's back, soothing, "and they wanted nothing more than to have a child.
"But try as they might, no child would come to them. And soon resentment began to grow. The wife, convinced that having a child would remove the resentment, set off to make a bargain with a witch, said to live deep in the woods.
"She told her husband she was going to visit her family so as not to arouse suspicion. Consorting with witches wasn't something that was done, you see."
This is the longest Steve has sat still in her lap in months. She thinks he might be asleep but continues the story anyway.
"It took her almost three weeks to find the witch, deep in the woods. Upon arrival, the witch had tried to turn away the wife. But the wife was persistent. 'Please,' she begged the witch, 'if we can have a child then my husband will love me again.'
"The witch was not moved by this plea. 'You would bring a child into a loveless marriage?' and the wife argued that once they had a child, their marriage would no longer be loveless. The witch disagreed but the wife would not be deterred.
"'What would you give up to have this child?' the witch asked after being pestered by the wife for almost a week. And the wife had said anything.
"'Anything is dangerous,' the witch said. 'I can give you the means to have a child, but the universe will decide the price.' And so, the wife agreed, and the witch pressed a folded piece of parchment into the wife's hand.
"When she finally returned home, she had been gone for eight long weeks. Distance makes the heart grow fonder, they say, and husband and wife reunited. Still, the wife waited three more months before preforming the ritual the witch had pressed into her palm.
"Soon, they had a child, a daughter. But with her arrival came the universe's price. A life blessing is not an easy thing to give, and the price for life is the highest to pay. Free Will was that price. And when the daughter turned three, she learned her daughter also paid the price. Her daughter, and her daughter's daughter, and her daughter's daughter's son. Forever more. The wife, now mother, was angry to learn this. Why should her child have to suffer for her own sins?
"She told her husband what she had done. She had to, you see, because how else could he be expected to raise a child that would do everything you told her to? Words would need to be picked carefully.
"It was years later before the mother could track the witch down again, to demand the witch undo the curse. 'I made the bargain, why must my child also suffer the consequences?'
"'You said anything,' the witch responded, 'and I told you that was dangerous. It was foolish of you to think your actions would not affect others. All actions do.'
"The mother said, 'can it not be undone?' and the witch said, 'All curses can be broken.' When the mother asked how, the witch just looked at her and said, 'go away, and do not seek me again.' And the mother had no choice but to obey."
Steve still has not stirred on her lap and when she looks down, she can see he is asleep. Even if Steve had stayed awake for the whole story, she knows she'll have to retell it to him when he's older. When he'll remember all of it. Perhaps she should write it down, too, just in case.
"You see, Steve, what was supposed to be a blessing became a curse. One of obedience. People will tell you to do things and you will be compelled to obey. You will become someone you will never truly know, because anyone can make you anything," she says as she stands and places Steve in his bed. "But don't worry. Mommy will teach you how to trick and cheat the curse as much as you can."

the most annoying thing about me/cfs is that it's more like 10 different illnesses in a trenchcoat. i'll wake up with a new symptom and be like "oh okay, guess that's what we're doing today"

since we're all going around talking about what we learned from hbomberguy's video (SO FUNNY that's we're doing that like we've been told off by an adult saying we shouldn't eat random shit we find on the floor) i thought i'd say things also. as someone who watched james videos occasionally i often ended up clicking off them because eventually he'd say something weird. it was always worst when i was actually familiar with the subject he was talking about. i would think "he says he's not making enough money to keep the channel going so i guess this script didn't get the care it needed. sucks that he butchered a topic i care about but he must be creatively suffering under so much stress." i gave him the benefit of the doubt. besides the work he stole that made his videos appealing in the first place he said a lot of dumb shit. sometimes the absurdity of his statements would pierce the veil of ignorance but other times who knows what got past me. i unsubscribed to his channel months ago because of the bad takes i noticed but i cant know for sure there weren't bad takes i didn't. the other day i listened to a video essay by a cis ally who was calling out transphobia from a trans creator. it was all fine until they ended up agreeing with the person they were criticizing. they said they could understand how frustrating it is for binary trans people that non binary people get so much attention when they're not the ones really being oppressed. i'm trans and i'm not going to fall for that stupid talking point. but this cis youtuber did fall for it and ended up affirming it to their followers. when we don't understand a subject (especially when the subject is about a marginalized identity that is not our own) we shouldn't be comfortable repeating what just one person says. we shouldn't be comfortable not checking if what they say is true or not. we can do better than that. check what content creators say. they might be wrong, bigoted or plagiarizing someone actually worth listening to. or in the case of james somerton: all of the above. that's what hbomberguy's video was about to me.
ps. dreamsounds is a now inactive channel that ended because the work become too high for pay too low. you know, the thing james lied about struggling with? the creator was a lovely woman who deserved everything james took for granted. justice for dreamsounds.

Wait so if in the hisui au arceus wants Wes dead cause he’s screwing with the timeline does that mean that giratina would have an interest in Wes?
Now I know Wes is a good dude and wouldent side with giratina (unlike volo); but that doesn’t stop giratina from trying to get Wes to do things for him does it? Does volo see potential in Wes?
I need more lore.
And I need to draw fanart asap.
If you drew fan art I think I'd lose my mind forever.
Anyways, because the mission Arceus gave Leon is different than canon, Volo's plan is also different...

so I may have decided to work on a short (or...a series of shorts) that serves as backstory/a prequel to another cluster of WIPs, instead of working on the WIPs themselves, and--
-drops a gift- uh merry christmas happy new year idk -sprints away-
Another snippet shared in [this] post!
~~~
“I plead for your protection, honored one. For safety.” I wet my lips, all too aware of how many eyes were watching from the corners of the room. “My family aims to send me away for their own gain, but I wish for happiness. I will not sacrifice myself for them.”
A low chuckle rumbled through the roost. “Are familial ties not precious to mortals? Do you not consider such sacrifice to be your duty?” He asked, amber eyes glowing through the thin curtain.
I stood taller before realizing it could be taken as defiance and tipped my head forward again. “This mortal does not,” I said through gritted teeth. My hands trembled as I reached for my collar—not from fear, from rage—and unbuttoned it to reveal my throat, still ringed in vibrant bruises from choking fingers. “I’ve given enough in the name of family. I desire only freedom.”
Silence answered. Long enough that my gaze slid toward the attending priests, certain I’d been dismissed before I could finish pleading my case. But no, their eyes remained on the curtain. Waiting. Listening. I took a steadying breath and remained on the platform, tapping out the seconds on my knuckles.
“Why have you come here, to me?” He asked finally, and I was surprised to hear what could almost be genuine curiosity in His voice. “My sister by the sea is better known for offering safety to those who plead her favor, and I am certainly not known for the same generosity. Yet you made the long, hard journey to my cliffs instead. You will find little protection here. Seekers come to me for vengeance. Power. I fear you’ve come to the wrong place, mortal.”
It's so weird watching fullmetal alchemist in contrast to naruto. Because both are set in fucked up worlds where everyone has committed war crimes, has had war crimes committed upon them, or is a war crime. But I trust that fma fundamentally understands how fucked up everything is, including the sinister qualities of the institutions that allowed this to happen. Naruto understands its fucked up on a surface level, but also glorifies the institution and never changes.
